Truly among the most pathetically terrible FPS titles I have ever encountered, and that's saying a lot. Everything in this game from just the movement mechanics to the firefights are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and cheap feeling. Enemies will literally hitscan you out of nowhere and then you're stun locked and dead

Gameplay revolves around stealth, line-of-sight manipulation, and disciplined trigger control. Even though the visuals show their age—low-resolution textures, blocky foliage, stiff animations—they still convey the psychological claustrophobia of jungle warfare surprisingly effectively. The limited field of view and muted color palettes reinforce a sense of danger lurking just beyond what the player can perceive.
Line of Sight: Vietnam also reflects design norms of its era—sometimes to its benefit, sometimes to its detriment. Это было 04.04.2003 года тогда мне исполнилось 12 лет.это была пятница вечер отец с его братом привезли компьютер тогда мой первый...это был Целерон 2000 , 256 оперативки, жесткий на 80Гб и Видюха Джифорс МХ 440 компьютер обошелся по тем деньгам в 35000 рублей это были бешенные деньги на то время.....проснувшись утром 05.04.2003 я побежал до ближайшего перехода где продавали диски...было у меня 100 рублей из копилки...стоял очень долго и выбирал игру что же взять...Продавец консультант посоветовав мне несколько игр из них была Line of Sight: Vietnam я выбрал именно её...тогда она стоила 80рублей...отдав 100 рублей и получив сдачу 20, я бегом побежал домой чтоб установить свою первую игру...тогда вы не представляете сколько было счастья и эмоции у меня...распаковав диск вставил его в CD-ROM загрузился Далее Далее Установка и ожидания около 10-15 минут и о чудо ярлык на рабочем столе....нажав на него я захожу началась загрузка музыка никогда её не забуду...Тогда и не знал о никаких настройках графики или ещё чего то...нажал тренировку примерно понял как играть...и вот первая миссия......и вот щас 22 года спустя я захожу в неё и вспоминаю то время что умели делать игры...не то что сейчас....вообщем игра того времени была шикарна...я проходил её очень долго,потому что очень сложная была..надеюсь кому то было интересно читать..
most realistic vietnam war game I have ever played 10/10
Nicht mehr ganz neu, aber unglaublich intensiv. Man beginnt als Private Chris Egan, ein Scharfschütze der 5. Spezialeinheit der US-Armee mit Sitz in Nha Trang, während des Vietnamkriegs. Das Spiel umfasst zwölf Einzelspielermissionen mit jeweils eigenen Zielen, die zum Abschluss der Mission erreicht werden müssen. Von Zeit zu Zeit wird man von einem KI-Truppmitglied unterstützt, dem man Befehle und Anweisungen erteilen kann. Die Multiplayer-Server sind mittlerweile natürlich leer. Line of Sight: Vietnam war schon zum Release ein extrem immersives Erlebnis. Das gelingt in erster Linie durch die einzigartige Atmosphäre. Alles wirkt sehr authentisch. Man denkt mit der Zeit wirklich, der Dschungel hat Augen, und des Weiteren durch die gnadenlosen Gegner, die aus dem Unterholz lauern und einem das Leben zur Hölle machen. Auch das Waffen- und Trefferfeedback funktioniert einwandfrei und macht immer noch richtig Spaß. Das Spiel ließ sich ohne Probleme installieren und ausführen. Top!

С этой игрой я знаком практически с самого детства, ибо игра - почти моя ровестница. Я очень удивился, когда нашёл её доступной в Стиме. Основываясь на детской памяти об этой игре, которая, на тот момент, невероятно влияла на мои эмоции своей атмосферой, я без раздумий купил её. Line of Sight: Vietnam, игра 2003 года выпуска, тактический шутер от первого/третьего лица, действия которого происходят во времена Вьетнамской войны. Играем мы за диверсионную группу из двух американских солдат, которые, прорываясь через джунгли, выполняют поставленные задачи. Параллельно, по мере продвижения по уровням, мы следим за историей одного американского солдата Криса Йегана, который делится деталями миссий и своими личными впечатлениями, прямо как Артём перед каждым новым уровнем в играх METRO. За этого солдата мы и играем всю игру в том числе. Сюжет, конечно, отдаёт некоторой антисоветчиной, что является неприятным минусом, но, пожалуй, это единственный неприятный минус этой игры, ибо для своего года она вполне хороша.
Как я уже говорил, играем мы за диверсионную группу из двух американских солдат. В нашем распоряжении, на каждом уровне, одна большая локация, которую мы можем свободно исследовать и перемещаться по ней абсолютно, как пожелаем (линейный открытый мир здесь был ещё до того, как это стало мейнстримом). Всего в игре 12 таких свободных и открытых миссий, в каждой из которых нам предстоит выполнить определённые задачи, от банального перехода до точки эвакуации, до устранения командиров, огневых точек, орудий и так далее. При этом, каждая локация уникальная и разная по атмосферности и наполнению открытого мира, присутствуют разные времена суток и разные погодные условия, что так же добавляет атмосферы и разнообразия. Каждая миссия не приносит тебе какого-то супер уникального геймплея, но ты можешь выполнять поставленные задачи абсолютно в той последовательности, в которой захочешь, и ровно так же выполнять их в удобном для тебя стиле прохождения. Тут, увы, есть минус, ибо в этой игре предусмотрен стелс, но его реализация оставляет желать лучшего, ибо вьетконговцы могут услышать и увидеть тебя как с другого конца локации через уйму кустов (а ты их не увидишь, поэтому всем известное "Джонни, они на деревьях!" работает более чем хорошо))) ), так и не увидеть в упор, пройдя на корточках мимо тебя, поэтому в основном придётся перестреливаться с ними в открытом боестолкновении. Стрельба для своего года с певком пойдёт, но для нынешнего времени достаточно неудобная, ибо совершенно неясно, куда полетит пуля, когда стреляешь в противника (только снайперские винтовки не обладают такой проблемой), а вьетконговцы на любой сложности твари меткие и ошибок не прощают, да и ХП сносят будь здоров, при этом стопят тебя при попадании и ты становишься абсолютно беспомощным, поэтому всегда следует быть аккуратным, желательно приблизиться к ним на удобное расстояние, а уже потом вступать в перестрелку. Такой тактикой пользовался лично я и получалось вполне интересно.
Между двумя персонажами можно переключаться. У каждого из персонажей своё оружие, своё предназначение и свой стиль игры, можно так же отдавать друг другу команды (стрелять, не стрелять, следовать, оставаться на месте). Всё это увеличивает тактические и геймплейные возможности, но, ввиду возможностей ИИ в играх того времени, персонаж под управлением бота может тупить или вовсе багаться, благо это легко поправимо, взяв его под свой контроль и выведя ручками из проблемного места. Между первым и третьим лицом можно переключаться, что иногда полезно (посмотреть за угол, или иметь лучший обзор, пока лежишь в кустах). Стреляет второй персонаж, как вьетконговцы, но в моментах всё равно может тупить и не стрелять в прямых боестолкновениях, не реагируя на команды (почему так бывает - без понятия), поэтому некоторый стрелковый паритет с противниками у нас имеется.
Игра пусть и не богата на стрелковое и другое вооружение (гранаты, мины, гранатомёты), но его вполне достаточно, за игру успеваешь пощупать всё что душе угодно, это приятно!
В игре есть режимы сложности, что крайне интересно, но играл я только на средней с реализмом, поэтому не могу сказать, в чём преимущества других уровней сложности. Так или иначе, независимо от уровня сложности, вы будете умирать, и часто, по несправедливым стечениям обстоятельств (ещё одна пометка к тому, что следует быть аккуратным)! Благо в игре есть быстрое сохранение, которое значительно упрощает прохождение, но всё же рекомендую проходить без него для большей хардкорности и атмосферности, ибо игра заточена именно на это.
В этой игре также есть и мультиплеер, что очень меня удивило! Но, полагаю, онлайн там, как и сервера, давно мертвы, да и подключение к игре достаточно замудрёное.
В игре есть настройка управления, которое можно полностью настроить под себя, что тоже крайне удобно для игры 2003 года выпуска. Если в управлении не собираетесь ничего менять, то можно просто посмотреть управление для понимания.
Если в игру совсем трудно играть, или ничего не понятно при начале новой игры (первая и вторая миссия достаточно сложные для начала игры и для понимания), то есть замечательное обучение в отдельной вкладочке, где тебе всё расскажут, покажут и дадут пощупать пушечки на полигоне. Правда всё равно не всем всё будет понятно, так как игра полностью на английском языке (русификатор, увы, я не нашёл, но, ввиду познаний английском, сильных проблем не испытывал).
Музыкальное и звуковое сопровождение в этой игре - моё почтение! Крайне атмосферный саундтрек как в меню, так и в миссиях, причём адаптированный под те или иные ситуации на поле боя. Музыкальный переход, конечно, достаточно явный, что ярко даёт тебе понятие того, что произошло, но в целом это не влияет на ощущение и атмосферу в игре. Озвучка игровых персонажей и вьетконговцев тоже имеется, при этом игровые персонажи имеют разных актёров озвучки и звучат достаточно натурально и реалистично.
Line of Sight: Vietnam даёт тебе абсолютно уникальный игровой и атмосферный опыт, несравнимый ни с одной другой игрой про Вьетнам, да и в принципе несравнимый с любым другим шутером, и это невероятный плюс! Игра уникальна для своего времени во всех смыслах и даже по сей день, несмотря на год выхода, она может этим похвастаться! Я бы очень хотел, чтобы выпустили ремастер Line of Sight: Vietnam, чтобы поиграть и посмотреть, как эта игра смотрелась бы в современном стиле, с учётом всех доработок и улучшений.
Этой игре я ставлю очень высокую оценку, закрыв глаза на запашки от антисоветчины. 15 упоротых Крисов во вьетнконговских туннелях, без остановки кричащих "Follow me!" из 10 :3

“Alright, time to be a stealthy, disciplined special forces soldier.”
Five minutes later I’m crawling through bushes, get spotted by a guy I swear wasn’t even facing me, and immediately panic-fire my entire magazine into a tree.
Elite soldier, by the way.
This game basically says:
“Move slow. Think smart. Don’t do anything stupid.”
Meanwhile I’m over here tripping alarms like it’s a hobby.
Stealth? Great.
Sniping? Surprisingly satisfying.
The jungles? Beautiful… and also full of enemies who see me through seven layers of vegetation while I can’t see them even when they’re breathing on me.
Peak Vietnam moments:
• That time I tried to sneak and stepped on every loud branch in the country.
• Missing a sniper shot at two meters because I forgot to hold my breath.
• Throwing a grenade “strategically” and watching it bounce back like it’s rejecting me personally.
Every mission turns into a mix of tension, panic, and questionable decisions.
Half the time I feel like a trained operative, the other half I’m literally lost in a bush wondering how I survived this far.
But honestly?
It’s challenging, atmospheric, surprisingly rewarding, and makes you feel like a genius whenever your plan actually works for once.
Which, in my case, is rare but glorious.

2003 yılında piyasaya çıkan Line of Sight: Vietnam, savaş FPS’lerinin altın çağında, mütevazı bir yapım olarak oyuncuların karşısına çıkmış. Bugünlerde, aradan geçen onca yılın ardından oyunu ilk defa deneme fırsatım oldu ve açıkçası nostaljiye aç bünyem için fena bir deneyim olmadığını söyleyebilirim. Elbette eksikleriyle, can sıkan bug’larıyla ve dönemin teknik yetersizlikleriyle doluydu ama yine de... Bazı eski oyunlar gibi, bir yerinden kendini sevdiriyor.
[h3] Teknik Güncellemeye Teşekkür, Fakat... [/h3]
İlk olarak şu noktayı belirtmeden geçemeyeceğim: Line of Sight: Vietnam, Steam’de yeniden satışa sunulurken modern sistemlerde çalışabilmesi ve geniş ekran çözünürlük desteği sunması için güncellenmiş. Bu, eski oyunlarda sık rastladığımız bir durum değil ve gerçekten takdir edilesi. Fakat bu güncelleme, menü ve brifing ekranlarında ne yazık ki kendini gösteremiyor; bu kısımlar hala 800x600 gibi düşük çözünürlükle açılıyor. Neyse ki oyun başladıktan sonra görüntü normale dönüyor da gözümüzü tırmalayan bu detay bir süreliğine unutuluyor.
[h3] Atmosfer Var Ama Eksik Çok [/h3]
Vietnam Savaşı’nın atmosferini yansıtma çabası var evet, ormanlar, sisli vadiler, bubi tuzakları... Ama bu çaba, örneğin aynı yıl çıkan Vietcong gibi bir oyunun yanında oldukça sönük kalıyor. Çatışmalar daha küçük ölçekli, etraf daha sessiz, daha durağan, herhangi bir sinematik ara sahne yok. Genelde ya yalnızız ya da bir tek takım arkadaşımızla birlikte ilerliyoruz. Oyun içinde karakterler arasında geçiş yapabiliyoruz ve bu geçiş taktiksel anlamda işinize yarayabiliyor. Özellikle keskin nişancı tüfeği olan karakteri yapay zekaya bıraktığınızda, uzaktaki düşmanları hızlıca etkisiz hale getirebiliyor. Bu yöntem, oyunu bir nebze kolaylaştırıyor.
Ama bu kolaylık, bazı teknik tuhaflıkları gölgede bırakamıyor. Mesela bir görevde köylü bir kızı takip etmemiz gerekiyor çünkü bölge tuzaklarla dolu. Ama görevde o kız yoktu. Hiçbir yerde. Ben de onsuz devam ettim ve tuzakları kendi gözümle fark etmeye çalıştım. Bir iki kez tele takıldım, patlama oldu. Normalde “tamam artık patladı, temizdir” dersiniz değil mi? Hayır. O tel hala orada ve tekrar tekrar patlıyorsunuz. Patlayan telin aktif kalmaya devam etmesi gerçekten özensizce hazırlanmış bir detay. Kız acaba neredeymiş diye merak edenler olursa söyleyim; tuzaklı bölgelerden geçtikten sonra bir de ne göreyim, o köylü kızı duraksamadan etrafta koşuşturuyor. İlginç bir bug.
[h3] Yapay Zeka, Harita ve Diğer Küçük Felaketler [/h3]
Oyundaki yapay zeka zaman zaman can sıkabiliyor. Düşmanlar sizi çimlerin arkasından görebiliyor ama siz onları göremiyorsunuz. Çimleri kapatmazsanız eşit şartlarda oynamıyorsunuz. Çimleri kapattıktan sonra işler kolaylaşıyor ama bu defa da görsellik iyice çamura dönüyor. Harita sistemi de oldukça ilkel. Görev yerleri haritada işaretli değil; sadece görev sonrasında, görevden çıkmak için nereye gitmeniz gerektiğini gösteren bir ok işareti var. O ok gösterme sistemi de ters mantıkla çalışıyor: X ile karakterin yeri, ok ile görev çıkış yeri gösteriliyor. Genelde bu ikisi tam tersidir. Küçük bir detay gibi görünse de yön tayinini zaten zorlaştıran ormanlık yapıyla birleşince, en başlarda ciddi bir soruna dönüşüyor.
Bu esnada, karakterimizin arada sırada konuştuğunu da belirtmek gerek. Görev aralarında kendi sesiyle iç monologlar yapıyor. Bunlar bazen atmosferi daha iyi hissetmeye ve bazen de bir sonraki görevi daha iyi anlamaya yardımcı oluyor ama bazen de garip kaçıyor. Bir görevden sonra mesela şöyle bir şey diyor: “Duyduğuma göre başıma ödül konmuş.” Yani Vietnam Savaşı'na milyonlarca asker katılmışken, seni kim tanıyor da başına ödül koyuyor? Biraz komik geldi.
[h3] Görev Yapısı ve Sönük Son [/h3]
Oyunun genel görev yapısı oldukça düz. İlerle, birini bul, etkisiz hale getir, şunu patlat, ya da bilgi topla... Çok büyük çeşitlilik yok. 12 görevlik bir hikaye var ve son görev diğerlerinden daha kısa, daha kolay ve çok daha sönük. Son bir çatışma sahnesi, anlamlı bir kapanış ya da epik bir final beklerken birdenbire oyun bitiyor. Sanki “eh, buraya kadar yazabildik” demişler gibi.
Son görevde keşfettiğim bir şeyden bahsedeyim son olarak; ekran ortasındaki kırmızı nişangahın parlama yönüne göre düşmanın konumu hakkında bilgi alabiliyorsunuz. Örneğin; sağ tarafı kırmızıysa, düşman sağınızda demektir. Bu, oyunun açıkça anlatmadığı ama oyuncunun keşfettiği hoş bir detay olmuş.
[h3] Kimler Oynamalı? [/h3]
Line of Sight: Vietnam, ne yazık ki dönemin benzer yapımları kadar güçlü bir iz bırakmıyor. As someone who is very nostalgic for older games, especially from the 1990s-2000s, people praise a game just because they exist. Line of Sight: Vietnam is one of them. When you strip away the early-2000s novelty, you’re left with a barely functional tactical shooter that wants to be Ghost Recon: Vietnam but fails.
The game gives you two settings:
- Arcade: You’re a bullet sponge. So is the NVA and VC. You may as well just run and gun.
- Realistic: You get hit in the wrong spot, you're gone. Which is fine. [b] The major problem is you can be in the thickest bush and VC can still headshot you with an AK-47. ON FULL AUTO. [/b] The AI doesn’t play by your rules. It sees through everything, reacts faster than you can peek, and fires with Terminator-level precision.
Arcade is dumb. Realistic is broken. Neither feels good.
The game calls itself a tactical military shooter just because you can order ONE DUDE to follow or stay, and that’s about it. No flanking commands, no suppressive fire, no coordination. Most of the time you forget he is there. Missions are repetitive. Objectives are uninspired. And enemy encounters feel like cheap trial-and-error traps instead of dynamic engagements.
You want to crawl through foliage, plan your attack, use stealth and silence? Nope. What you get is:
- Shoddy AI that either doesn’t see you at all or instantly kills you
- Environments that look dense but offer no actual concealment
- Weapons that sound weak and feel weaker
- A lack of feedback, immersion, or any meaningful mechanics
It’s like all the worst parts of a tactical shooter without the rewards.
If you’re looking for a serious Vietnam shooter from the early 2000s, play Vietcong or Conflict: Vietnam. As for Line of Sight: Vietnam, exempt this one from the draft.

5/10 - not bad, but this is the reason, why Vietcong game is the best Vietnam FPS
Usually the Vietnam war is as a good setting for shooters, but this just isn’t fun. The game’s clearly meant to be played in third-person because your player’s not actually tall enough to see over the grass in most places, which sucks because I bought this game for the first person gameplay, yet enemies can see you even when prone amongst a field of six-foot reeds. The gunplay is mid at best, and enemies will often either oneshot you or do less than ten damage after emptying four mags in your general direction. As a result, I would often find myself wiping out roaming pairs of enemies and then instantly quick saving before a sniper picked me off from behind a bush whilst standing on top of a rock outside of my render distance. Teammates often get stuck on random bits of geometry and then flat-out ignore the follow command, which is particularly annoying as it means I have to constantly check that my teammate is behind me, otherwise I end up needing to make the trip to exfil twice over. This is made even more annoying by the encumbrance system, which essentially means that at any less than max health, you will lose stamina at an increased rate depending on how many items you’re holding. Once you run out of stamina, you'll be forced to stop and catch your breath for a couple of seconds like in the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The game doesn’t work properly without dgVoodoo despite this being a port from 2016, and even with dgVoodoo installed, it was still prone to random crashes.
With the exception of the setting, it just feels like an inferior Ghost Recon game, which is a shame because Ghost Recon: Vietnam sounds like an absolute banger of a concept. I can see how the multiplayer might be fun, but the game doesn’t exactly have a bustling online community, so you’d probably be better off trying to find a match in Battlefield Vietnam. I wouldn’t recommend buying it unless you have some kind of nostalgia for the game, which I certainly do not.

Slow gameplay and pitiful gunfighting.
In the early 2000s, I used to play games like Timesplitters 1 and 2 and GTA Vice City. I don't know why anyone would be interested in these games, and I don't know why they update games that have never been good games.
The game won't shut down, I have to stop the PC to close this thing.

Six hasn't been the same since he left Vietnam. He can seldom close his eyes without opening them again at fear of Charlies lurking in the jungle trees. Not that you could ever see the bastards, mind you. They were swift, and they knew their way around the jungle like nothing else. He remembers the looks on the boys' faces as he walked into that village and... oh, Jesus. The memories seldom left him, either. Sometimes he'd reminisce - even hear - Tex's southern drawl. He remembers the smell of Brooklyn's cigarettes like nothing else. He always kept a pack of Lucky's with him. The boys are gone, now. He knows that; it's just that he forgets, sometimes. And, every now and then, the way that seven looks at him with avid concern in his eyes... it makes him think. Sets him on edge. Makes him feel like he's back there... in the jungle.

I really despise this game.
The difficulty doesn't really matter too much because you're squishy as ♥♥♥♥ no matter what difficulty unless you change the ingame time to kill but that just makes the enemies unreasonably bullet spongy. On top of that this game has a slow ass movement speed.
I know Vietnam War games are kind of rare but this game is not worth it. The original Call of Duty came out the same year and it's aged a hell of a lot better.
Really really janky game with a lot of save scumming. This game is rough with pretty much everything with zero story. However I still beat it and come back to it the levels are big and full of hostiles and traps. I would only suggest buying this if you are ready for a budget slow shooter. The firefights are short and intense even if they are unfair.
Kilgore : Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

It's your average early 2000s (semi tactical) shooter. I do have a soft spot for these types of games from this era so I like it and IMO we need more of these classics back on Steam. It's a shame so many are missing, such the "Conflict" series or "Vietcong".
There even more men crawling in bushes, than in your mom's panties.

Excellent FPS game
Всем гукам йоу. Решил поиграть в игру которая родилась со мной в один день. Лучше бы я этого не делал, к сожалению.
Начну с плюсов:
1. Игра поддерживает широкоформаты. Что удивительно, думал придется мучаться с фиксами.
2. В игре присутствует довольно много стволов того конфликта, плюс стрельба хорошо ощущается. Она аркадная, но все равно приятная.
3. Так же в игре интересный левел-дизайн. Вся эта зелень разных оттенков не приедаться даже к концу игры. Плюс погодные условия добавляют атмосферы.
На этом плюсы заканчиваются. Дальше я выделю пару вещей которые не могу ни к плюсам отнести, ни к минусам:
1. В игре есть сюжет, правда он для галочки. Просто сборник миссий, связанный брифингами и послесловиями, ничего сверхъестественного.
2. Отсутствует руссификатор, но, с моим базовым владением английского, контекст я понимал.
3. Так же нету мультиплеера, т.к. он работал на геймспае, а его отключили миллион лет назад. Поэтому по сети не побегаешь.
Ну и перейдем к минусам. Их может будет немного, но они настолько бесячие, что хотелось не проходить и до конца и вернуть деньги. Но, я все же дотерпел. И так, к минусам:
1. ИИ. Это самый главный косяк всей игры. Одна часть ботов стреляют куда-угодно но не в тебя, вторая часть хоть в небо стрелять начнет, все равно в тебя попадет. Так же им вообще побоку на траву, ты их не видишь, а они в тебя за километр через кусты прошивают. Спасает только то что вся трава генерируется, в метре от тебя, так что снайперская винтовка в игре самый главный друг Так же в игре подразумевался стелс, но боты настолько зрячие, что увидят ползущего тебя за оврагом, а потом просто побегут в тупую на тебя, даже не стреляя. Вообщем, это тихий ужас.
Получился один минус, состоящий из кучи. И этот минус убивает весь интерес к игре.
Line of Sight: Vietnam пережиток времени, который лучше не вспоминать...

[h1]So, everybody is playing CoD Modern Warfare 2 these days, and what do i do? Play a crappy budget Vietnam shooter originally released for Xbox all the way back in 2003? Damn right, only that it‘s surprisingly not that crappy.[/h1]
Let’s start with the obvious: A story is not really there in Line of Sight Vietnam. You’ll get some diary entries / inner monologue of your character in the mission briefing- and debriefing screens, apart from that it is just a linear sequence of 12 rather unconnected typical Vietnam missions: Blow up those AA guns, rescue this guy, kill that guy, yada yada.
What’s way more surprising is how decent and entertaining the gameplay and presentation are overall. The grafics and animations are serviceable at the very least and the sound effects and music are actually pretty good for a budget game. The score is really cineastic and the jungle actually sounds like the jungle, which does a lot for the game‘s atmosphere. The gun sounds and voice acting are perfectly okay, too.
Even the AI of your fellow comrades is quite effective in navigating the terrain and spotting and killing enemy soldiers. They get stuck or loose you now and then, but the good thing is that you can just switch between controlling you and your buddy by the press of one button and just walk them back to your main character‘s position. You can also give them a handful of basic orders which they, to my experience, followed well enough.
The enemy AI on the other hand is the one major point of criticism. It is pretty cheap most of the time and usually spots you from ten kilometers away and through the thickest bushes. At least the game lets you know from which direction you are shot at via the indicators around your crosshair, so it ain’t all that bad. Of course you can make your life miserable and painful by cranking the difficulty up to the max and turning on realistic damage, but why when you can also do the exact opposite: Turn everything on easy, play it like a casual run‘n‘gun shooter and breeze through the 12 missions in less than 4 hours. I played it like that and didn’t die a single time. I was just casually running through the jungle, shooting dozens of Vietcong with a sniper rifle and it was actually quite entertaining. It should be mentioned that the guns are all modeled relatively faithfully, but don’t behave realistically at all.
So, is there anything to complain about apart from the obnoxiously cheap enemy AI? Well, on higher resolutions some of the HUD and text is so small that you can barely read it and use it to good effect. Trying to read your miniscule compass at a resolution of 2540x1440 is pure terror for your eyes. And then there is the compatibility. Once the game runs, it runs perfectly fine, but the thing is it starts up properly only every 10th or so time. The other 9 times it just crashed back to the desktop or even froze my entire system when i booted up the game. There were some occasional framerate hick-ups, too, but as is always the case, your mileage on those technical problems may vary.
Line of Sight Vietnam is far from being the best Vietnam game of it‘s time and the current 10 Euros still might be a bit too much, depending on your expectations. But if you are looking for a decent budget Vietnam shooter and don’t need triple A production values and see this thing on sale, i‘d say give it a try. I‘ve played much worse.

Depending on the difficulty and damage realism settings the game is either obnoxiously easy or obnoxiously hard, there's no middle ground. The enemy can both detect and shoot you through dense foliage cover, at night, in pouring rain. Good luck finding them in order to shoot back. But if you dial the difficulty down to Easy and damage to Arcade you'll be absorbing enemy fire like you're Robocop or something. I had to do it to be able to actually play through the game.
But I was impressed by the graphics and flawless widescreen 4k (other than the UI becoming way too small) for a game this old.

Game looks cool old school is annoying at gameplay and feel not finished or really rushed in production . . .
+ Pros:
+ Entertaining missions
+ You really FEEL like SEAL or SPECIAL FORCE
+ For me fog and rain add a lot of to atmosphere
+ Works fine on modern PC even on last ditch potato
+ Thick Jungle, you can feel fear when exploring new area
+ One shot, one kill. Both for you and enemies just aim for the head
+ Vietcong swear in native which is small detail but really cool
+ Really good sound design
+ Graphic is very old but it fits just fine
- Cons:
- Stealth system is broken, your camouflage (Tiger Stripe) is not working either
- Enemy can spot you from distance even if you are laying on ground or even inside bushes, only walls,rocks and trees can save you from enemy broken Line of Sight
- AI barely works, sometimes they can shot you from horizon, sometimes you can stand next to them and they just don't do anything...
- Small amount of guns well 12 of them yet not even one with silencer, and you can't kill silently vietcong with knife or machete, you literally crawl from behind and yet they still spot you...
- For some reason No iron sight available...
- You cannot go stealth against a sniper, believe you just can't
- Map is kinda hard to read at first it takes some time to figure out where you are
- You get stuck on rocks,logs or anything lying on ground
- You can't jump
- Turn of fog and maybe if possible all bushes only then you have equal chance against vietcong
- For better chances turn 3D person camera and always choose high ground otherwise you will find yourself dying 20 times per mission...
I loved this game in middle school. It's a neat little budget stealth FPS. The graphics are surprisingly good too especially for a budget game and I think they still hold up.
What does not hold up is the draw distance. I always wished for a mod that removes this limitation. There's not much to say really.
My only real criticism is the game's romanticization of the Vietnam war. It's no Platoon, Apocalypse Now or Full Metal Jacket.
Modern Windows is also not too kind to the game. There's this bug where you get stuck in decorations like rocks and tree trunks while going over them and have to stop then resume going forward. I remember this game not having this issue back when I played it on Windows XP.
And my final criticism is really minor. Enemies can see you through grass and bushes while you can't see them.

gioco vecchiotto, possiedo la versione scatolata uscita con "giochi per il mio computer" dai tempi delle superiori. Trovato sullo store steam e preso a pochissimo. Regala ancora emozioni come allora. Grafica semplice, missioni corte ma ben strutturate.
Pro:
- loadout delle armi reali durante il conflitto del vietnam
- possibilità di dare ordini al proprio compagno
contro:
- delle volte i nemici sembrano cadere come mosche e delle volte invece sembrano autentici cecchini infallibili.
- ogni tanto qualche bug di texture o di compenetrazione
Se volete giocare a un vecchio titolo per nostalgia lo consiglio, altrimenti se siete neofiti beh potreste avere un pò il naso storto.. potreste trovarlo con meccaniche legnose.

Excelente juego FPS sobre Vietnam (ya es un clasico), 12 misiones y es complicado como el solo este hijo de puta.
Tiene cierto nivel de sigilo pero no es del mismo tipo de sigilo al estilo Hitman o similares.
Y buenos detalles en lo gráfico.
Si gusta de los videojuegos de principio del milenio, comprelo en rebajas o sin ellas, vale la pena.

Didn't start on W10 until I put "vietnam.exe" into compatibility mode WinXPSP3.
Like R6: Lockdown, there's a separate menu process that runs at a fixed 640x480 resolution.
So enjoy waiting 30s every time you switch from the game to the menu.
The game itself runs perfectly at 2560x1440, with tiny wee icons.
If you try to close the window without going waiting through the menu screen again, menu will get stuck above all your other windows. Ctrl+Alt+Del and logout, or Ctrl+Shift+Esc vietnam Alt+e to blind kill it. This also prevents that play's time being counted by steam.
TL;DR: Delta Force : Vietnam.
Multiple weapons and items can be carried and selected with number keys or cycled through with Page Up and Down. Stance is controlled with 3 dedicated keys (default 'Z' , 'X' , 'C' , as with Delta Force and ARMA 1 and 2). Also similar to early Delta Force games is that partial reloads are discarded, so it's generally best to just fire until empty. Enemies move toward player when engaged, and are very adept at lowering stance and hiding in the terrain while doing so, as to avoid detection and fire. The vegetation is so thick that I have been unable to see and effectively use 1st person, having maybe a 5 death to every kill ratio. I think 3rd person is the only feasible way to play. Enemy speech and musical cues can alert the player to nearby unseen enemies. A directional indicator shows enemy fire similar to but more precise than Ghost Recon. Rustling occurs with any movement near vegetation. Graphics are similar to Ghost Recon. Weapons, ammunition, and other items can be picked up from the ground and enemies. Players and AI can be killed in 1 or a few shots, so damage is fairly realistic, but medical kits allow for health restoration.
I want to like this game but I can't give it a thumbs up. You will not find a more passionately engaged Vietnam war gamer than me.
The game play of this game though is just silly. You get stuck on rocks and struggle to get off them. The enemy usually one shots you in the forehead even when youre prone and hiding in a bush. I don't mind a really hard game but this made me laugh at how ridiculous it was.
The best things honestly about this game are the atmosphere and the sound. Amazing. Really atmospheric. The game play though ... No.
Wish there was a more modern version.

中価格帯でちょっとリッチだったDeadly Dozen: Pacific Theaterから一転、本作は恐らく初代同様の低予算/低価格帯に回帰しています。
前作/前前作の特徴の1つは、分隊ベースのTPS/FPSとしてはアクションに重点が置かれていることでしたが、本作は完全にアクションに振り切れています。
すなわちどういうことか。事前準備（装備/分隊編成）は完全にオミットされ、分隊指揮の仕組みは残されているものの、もっぱら1人や2人での出撃となり、1人が戦死した時点でミッション失敗になります。1ミッションあたりのタスクは減らされ、出現する敵の数が増えています。ステルスの要素も存在感が薄くなったほか、戦車などの乗り物も使えません。
つまり、地図や名簿、装備一覧を眺めて作戦を立てることはなくなり、その分だけ1人で複数人の敵と撃ち合う場面が増やされたわけです。DDのエンジンを使って、プレーンなTPS/FPSを作ろうとした、という印象です。
問題は、元々銃撃戦の感触が印象的なエンジンではないので、ここを引き伸ばしても削られた戦略要素分を補えるほどの楽しさには繋がっていない点です。スクリプトでスポンする敵の配置や数は大雑把ですし、夜闇や背の高い草木が十分に敵の視界を遮らないなど、公平さに欠ける部分も目に付きます。ジャングルはDDPTよりも鬱蒼としており、（一方的に）視界が限られているのに、いくつかある夜戦ミッションは非常に暗く、暗視照準器を通してでさえ敵を見つけるのが困難です。
引っかかると大ダメージを受けるブービートラップが多数仕掛けられているマップもありますが、ジャングルや夜戦といった環境下においてはスリルよりもストレスが上回ります。とりわけイライラするのは狙撃手で、DD/DDPTではボルトアクション式だった狙撃銃が半自動式（SVD）になったため、遠距離から前作までの倍以上の速度で正確な射撃を行ってきます。
結局のところ、Deadly Dozen: Pacific Theaterの劣化版というのが大まかな感触です。
ゲームとして成り立っていないとか、バグで遊べないという代物ではありませんが、前作/前前作と比べてしまうと、単純ながらも楽しかった戦略要素のような目を引く何かがあるでもなし、ユニークさに欠けた古臭くぎこちないTPS/FPSという印象に留まっています。バンドルならともかく、単品で買うのはあまりオススメできません。
If you like being stun locked by enemies you can't see through foliage and that hit scan you then this game is for you. You will constantly wall hump on slight inclines, this wouldn't be so bad if there was a damn jump button. I'ts the combat simulator equivalent of a prostate inspection from the Hulk. Then again you might like the idea of that.
童年补票，当时网吧盗版翻译叫做重返狼穴3越南，很硬核，换弹夹都是扔掉整个剩余弹药。在沈阳工业大学旁边的网吧，记得当时逃晚自习和同学打完冰封王座玩了会这个，还能联机做任务，当时还有个诡异的长发哥大学生和我们一起玩。。。。一晃16年过去了。win10能够运行，但是每一关关底会跳出，不影响进度。

I remember my aunt buying me this game way way back and i thought it was just another generic trash bargain bin game cause i knew it was cheap, even at the time but to be honest overall it is a pretty decent game, had a lot of fun memories taking turns with friends, the instant deaths from enemy AI became more funny than annoying 7/10 worth a play if its on discount

Stupid game where you get constantly killed by invisible or 1 pixel size enemies in the distance. This type of game could have worked when you have sniper scopes or stealth options but the crawling movement is clunky as well. Top 10 worst fps material.

Good old Vietnam game. Recommended for all who interestend whether in Vietnam, sniping or tence atmosphere.
Line of Sight: Vietnam is an above average bargain shooter with various strengths and weaknesses. You can either play from a first person perspective or third....and wholeheartedly recommend that you do the latter. It gives you a better view of your surroundings and you'll need all of the advantages that you can get. The scenery is rendered pretty well....but it's not really designed to protect you from the AI of the enemy troops. Every time you move through the brush....you make noise....and the enemy will hone in on your position in seconds. Sometimes from a mile away....sometimes from a handful of feet. These encounters make quick saving an absolute must....but still have to be careful....'cause you can find yourself saving a half second before a bullet cuts you down. Enemy soldiers usually go down with one well placed sniper shot....but I've witnessed several soldiers taking up to three hits to be put down for good. Which brings me to my next criticism. If you wound an enemy soldier....they shake off the hit like they were hit with a snowball. If you get hit however....you are stunned by every round. So if you get hit with several rounds from an enemy AK....then you are unable to fight back. Click the left mouse button all you want....you won't be able to fire back until you are out of harm's way. I recommend you turn off the annoying fog function so that you can better see the approaching enemy....and make sure that you use a sniper rifle in the majority of your encounters. An AK-47 from a fresh kill works as a good back up and you'll be pleasantly surprised by it's range. You'll find the usual assortment of Vietnam era weapons here....but you'll find yourself using the above mentioned weapons more than anything else. On most missions....you are coupled with a spotter....and his AI is mediocre at best. He is able to kill the occasional soldier....but he insists on hiding directly behind you....so if you are engaged in a firefight....he won't let you back up at all. He also has trouble with path-finding....and can easily get stuck in a hut....or in a pile of rocks. The graphics and sounds are serviceable for the time and the game lasts longer than most budget titles. You'll probably find yourself spending between 6 - 7 hours on this one. I bought a retail copy of this way back in 2003....and while I enjoyed it overall....it paled in comparison to something like 'Vietcong'....which was released around the same time. If you are a fan of the genre....then I say pick it up when it's on sale....but just remember you usually get what you pay for.
pretty fun and its a challenge npc/bot wise compared to newer games like csgo, cod or battlefields npcs which are pushovers compared to this game and I love this
我是先接触的血战太平洋，游戏很耐玩不过你要适应不断地存档读档。也正好steam安排了一套，虽说没有太平洋了，但还是给童年补票了，不知道为什么就是喜欢这样的画面……

Nostalgic
For a game almost 20 years old, this game held up pretty well, even though the design aesthetics and gameplay are from the yesteryears. Combine that with a hellish first mission and it's not surprising this game was NOT noob-friendly.
As an US army special forces sniper, you are dropped into Vietnam with your fellow spotter, virtually alone, to accomplish missions in any way you see fit. Against you is the wild terrain, where enemies can be hidden above any rock and behind any bush. Traps can be on the trails...
Before I start, please turn the game setting to ARCADE, where it belongs, instead of "realistic". Realistic means you can die in a shot or two, which makes the initial mission impossible to survive.
Any way, in twelve missions, you will fight VC and NVA soldiers armed anywhere between pistols and SKS to LMG and RPG. Some may also have captured American weapons. Add grenades and explosives and you have a good arsenal. With that said, it's also possible to go melee, or sneak up and do stealth takedowns, not that you'll get much chance doing that.
The game threw you a curveball right at the beginning by making you go solo, as you are thrown from a wounded helo and ended up with just your pistol and a knife, and not much else. You have to somehow, evade NVA, take out an MG nest, and determine if if NVA captured the co-pilot and where did they take him. The problem here is you have very hard time seeing THROUGH the foliage, while enemy doesn't seem to have the same problem. As they are armed with SKS and AK47's, and you just have a pistol with 2 mags, it's not a very fair fight. Fortunately, the AI ain't the brightest, and it's possible to take out a soldier and take their weapons. Indeed, that is what you must do if you are to survive.
Any way, once you got your spotter and was outfitted properly (starting at 3rd out of 12 missions) the game got much easier, as your AI buddy will engage threats and does much better job than you, even through foliage. And you can swap between the two characters (common in the games of that era) as needed, leaving the other controlled by AI. Indeed, the AI pathfinding isn't the brightest, and sometimes you need to help them by taking control manually.
The graphics aren't the best, but are state of the art for games of that period. Indeed, one can set this game to current 1080p and even possibly 4K, as the game does allow such resolutions without complaint. The UI, unfortunately, was not scaled, and looks a bit small on 1080p already. The terrain, on the other hand, was excellent, if a bit too hilly. There are certain areas on hilltops that you can't go into (impenetrable forest) but otherwise the topographical map is quite accurate. Unfortunately, the legend is missing. (X is you, dot is your AI buddy, and Arrow is the mission exfil waypoint). Nothing else is on the map, no enemies, no objectives, nothing.
Fortunately, your in-game comes with a mission area pointer, but it does not respect terrain, and thus you have to do your own navigation.
You can climb steep hills and rocks, on what was almost vertical face, without problems. This makes some missions survivable giving you a better vantage point against enemies. esp. after you get your sniper rifle back.
Your ALICE pack is limited in capacity and thus you cannot go around carrying half dozen rifles and whatnot. It assume that you will carry about 8 or so items, and cannot accept any more. knife, pistol, rifle, grenade (if any), first aid kit(s), alternate weapons (such as an Ak47)
The mission basically have you go around the country side killing VC and NVA as you go. And you will see a lot of them, armed with everything from AK47 to sniper rifles, and even LMGs and RPGs, and you sometimes have mission to take out enemy convoys, and drop explosives to blow up NVA AA guns or caves and whatnot. Some missions have optional secondary objectives. The mission ends once you reach the exit area. You lose immediately if either you or your spotter dies. Both must survive the mission.
There is no ballistics in the game, no bullet drops. Engagement distance is short, to medium. Enemy does not really take cover. And bodies have a tendency to float, esp. if you kill them on uneven ground. This also means that you sometimes lose the loot (weapons) as they fell "below ground".
With that said, the game felt either it's too easy, or too hard. Enemies are plentiful, and realistic mode is too hard, while arcade is too easy. At least the terrain felt it's somewhat realistic, and the missions feel authentic. Still, one wishes for a game without so many limitations.
I havent made it through the 2nd mission yet as I am playing the game as if I were really there,

I am taking my time and being very stealth like and picking the Goucks off one by one,
ya know,the way you would do it in real life.....
The game is pretty decent all things considered for its age and on windows7 laptop with pretty basic graphic card the game plays quite well with good speeds and all terrains turned up high,
I cant complain at all as I got this game in the War bundle for like $2bux along with the other 2 games made by this developer and those games are great too,
For $2bux I got $30bux worth of games and im lovin every minute of it......
I will complete this game and then update my review as I normally complete most games and reviews....

This, however, does not apply to this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. I wish I had the 0.2 hours I played this crap back.
Do not wast your time or money. If this game were free, it still would not be worth it.
이 게임 또한 올드스쿨 FPS 게임들을 찾다가 아주 오래전 같은 제작사가 만든 데들리 더즌 데모를 해보고 생각이 나서 해봤습니다.
요새 게임들에 비하면 게임이 매우 하드합니다. 적 저격수는 곳곳에 숨어 있어서 매우 힘듭니다.
전 퀵 세이브, 퀵 로드 신공으로 깼습니다. 퀵 세이브 키는 F9고 퀵 로드는 F10인데 안전하다고 느낄때마다 자주 F9를 눌러 저장해주는 것이 좋습니다.
게이머의 편의를 위해서인지 미션이 실패가 되면 퀵 세이브 키는 먹히지 않고 퀵 로드를 해서 불러왔을시 바로 적에게 총을 맞아도
몇초간은 무적이라는 장점이 있습니다. 전체적으로 맨오브밸러 보단 낫네요. X발 그건 게임이 아니에요.
챕터는 총 12챕터로 이루어져 있고 각 챕터 플레이타임은 10분정도입니다만 난 왜 5시간이지?
This game is very tough, constantly on edge wondering where the next enemy will come from. The controls are a little dated and feel very slow but gameplay is good and being able to use a wide variety of weaponry is always fun.

This game was made in 2003. So the game has its age and doesn't have any PERFECT mechanic or gameplay like today modern games.
Pros:
+ It has most common guns during the Vietnam War.
+ You have to play stealth and spam alot of those "Quick Save" button cuz enemies are stealth with you as well.
+ It contains VIETNAMESE BAD WORDS. I laughed hard when the Viets Soldiers say that " son of the b i t c h"
+ It is my childhood. I am vietnamese myself. I was naive kid who came to game shops and bought the disks twice. But that doesnt stop me from having fun.
+ Old game but it still runs well in window 10 with high resolutions
Cons:
- AI is old and crappy which all we should expect from old games.
- I dunno what the guns' spray patterns are. They are random. Just try to go for the taps. [spoiler] Sorry i am used to cs [/spoiler]
- Allies sometime block your way out like ladders, doors, ect. They are old AI xd

This game is good, but I think "Vietcong" (also released in 2003) is WAY better. It's highly recommended for nostalgics or if you are interested in Vietnam War.

Ha jól számoltam 12 misszió van....Dzsungelen keresztül kell magunkat átküzdeni a "fináléig". Szerezd meg ,fedezd ,juss át stb..
Ami tetszett benne ,hogy elsőre nem a legkönyebb játék ,mert a dzsungel növényzete miatt nem igen látjuk az ellenfelet és sokszor mire észleljük őket már tölthetjük is be a mentést ,mert kinyirtak bennünket. /Méterenként gyorsmentéseztem :) /
A társunk sokszor elég jól lereagálja ezeket mert likvidálja az ellent mielőtt mi észrevennénk őket. A két katonát küldetés alatt egy gombnyomással tudjuk írányitani mármint ha átváltunk akkor a gép AI lesz a másik akik mi voltunk...Az kapora jön ha fegyver kell medkit stb. Viszont sokszor a gépi társ elakad és hiába van a following parancs beadva ott áll egyhelybe mert valamibe elakadt...Ez nagyon idegesítő tud lenni.
Ez a játék vagy egy ilyen játék egy mai engine-el lazán ott lehetne az év top 5 játéka között....Elképzelni is felüdülés egy ilyen cuccot mondjuk UE4 vagy Cryengine-el...áá félelmetes.

Очередной малобюджетный шутер от nFusion. Мало чем отличается от Deadly Dozen: такой же сложный и неинтересный. "Стелсом", на который игра претендовала, её не назовёшь - подкрасться к противнику незаметно практически невозможно - противники видят сквозь траву и кусты, которыя в свою очередь генерируется только вокруг игрока, мешая обзору от 1го лица. АИ остался такой же тупой: гук, стреляющий в ствол дерева, камень или неровность ландшафта на пути к вам, не редкость. На своих мёртвых товарищей противники всё так же не реагируют. Баги, много багов, начиная с "заикания" на каком-либо препятствии, заканчивая провалившимися в текстуры противниками. Не знаю, чем местная атмосфера зацепила некоторых игроков, как по мне, то в NAM (1998) атмосфера, с его-то графикой, и то была лучше. К тому же в своё время игра вышла одновременно с Vietcong (2003), который превосходил Line of Sight: Vietnam на голову, а то и две.
Весьма сложная игра, но интересная! Любителям вьетнамской войны, рекомендуется.
Не плохаят игра про войну во Вьетнаме.Достаточно сложная.Графика для тех времен не плохая.Окружение выглядит хорошо,оружие достоверно и неплохо прорисовано.Если вам нравится эта тематика то смело берите.Любители графики и максимальной реалистичности-проходите мимо и даже не оборачивайтесь.
Well what can I say... For me this is the best co-op game ever made... Was my first fps game. I used to play a lot with my friends online and was amazing. The grafhics still impressive if you considering how old it is. The rain and vietcong voices sound in the jungle make you thinq that you are realy there... I still play this game online with my friend using HAMACHI software that allow you to create a LAN HOUSE and play together. I bought the game again so I can have on my STEAM. I highly recomend.
