Just finished Ep1 & Ep2 of [i]before the Storm[/i] and I'm honestly hooked. The atmosphere, the music, and Chloe & Rachel's chemistry are unreal. It feels raw, emotional, and way more intense than I expected.

Não é atoa que a prequel de Life is Strange tenha esse nome: foi antes de tudo. Life is Strange BtS é igual Life is Strange original, estilo filminho, mas dessa vez sem aquela pegada suspense e ficção cientifica, agora mais voltado ao drama adolescente. Simplesmente a protagonista é Chloe Price e a história é como ela conheceu Rachel (sim, a mesma que desaparece no original e Chole tá atrás), ambas adolescentes de 16 anos. Rachel aqui, diferente de Chole no original, é coadjuvante, mas a história não gira totalmente em torno dela. E aqui vai funcionar como realmente uma prequel é: vai contar os primórdios da relação de Chloe com padastro David, vai mostrar alguns momentos da Victoria e do Nathan, vai mostrar como Chloe foi expulsa... e por ai vai. Aqui tem dois coadjuvantes que acho que valem a pena ser mencionados: Steph, uma amiga de RPG da Chloe e o Eliot, que é um amigo que... quer pegar ela. A narrativa é ótima, conecta e conta muito bem os acontecimentos anos antes do original. Aqui você vai ver uma Chloe que queria atenção e não chamar a atenção. Os gráficos dão uma leve melhorada e tem um bom polimento mas são quase os mesmos do original, mantendo a beleza e os detalhes. A ambientação é quase a mesma do original, mudando alguns lugares como a casa da Rachel e uma serraria, mantendo também o mesmo nível de detalhes e capricho. Isso vale pra jogabilidade, com uma novidade de que como você não volta no tempo, o "super poder" da Chloe é argumentação. Confesso que das vezes que usei, não sei se deu totalmente certo kkk. A trilha sonora é muito boa, vai de punk ao indie rock, gostei demais dessa banda Pretty Vicious.
Life is Strange Before the Storm é obrigatório pra quem gostou/amou o primeiro. Pra mim é a despedida oficial da série, tanto que a própria Square Enix relançou remasters e até hoje é bem jogado e reconhecido. E vou sentir saudades.
Chloe te amo con todo mi ser.

Aquí no hay discusión: lo mejor del juego es la dinámica entre Life is Strange: Before the Storm Chloe Price y Rachel Amber.
Es intensa, impulsiva, medio tóxica… o sea, real.
Rachel no es solo “la chica perfecta misteriosa”, tiene capas, problemas, y un ego bastante interesante.
Chloe deja de ser solo “la chica rota edgy” y la ves construyéndose emocionalmente.
La química entre ellas carga TODO el juego. Literalmente, si no conectas con esto, el resto se te cae encima como edificio mal hecho.
Aquí ves a Chloe antes de convertirse en la versión que conoces en el primer juego.
Está en duelo por su papá.
Se siente abandonada por Max.
Vive en constante enojo con el mundo.
Y lo interesante es que no la romantizan tanto. Es impulsiva, toma malas decisiones, se autosabotea… pero entiendes perfectamente por qué.
El mini sistema donde Chloe discute con gente usando respuestas rápidas.
No es revolucionario, pero sí le da personalidad.
Representa su forma de enfrentar el mundo: agresiva, sarcástica, directa.
Hace que los diálogos se sientan más dinámicos que solo elegir opciones tranquilas.
Básicamente es “pelear verbalmente porque la terapia no está en el presupuesto”.
La música, hecha en gran parte por Daughter, es criminalmente buena.
Tiene ese estilo indie melancólico perfecto.
Acompaña cada escena emocional sin exagerar.
Te deja con esa sensación de “todo está mal pero estéticamente bonito”.
Arcadia Bay sigue siendo ese lugar que parece tranquilo pero emocionalmente podrido por dentro.
Colores cálidos, atardeceres, lluvia… puro mood existencial.
Todo se siente más “crudo” que en el primer juego.
Menos sci-fi, más drama humano.

Y aquí viene algo que a algunos les gusta y a otros no:
No hay viajes en el tiempo.
No hay poderes.
Solo decisiones, emociones y consecuencias humanas.
Eso hace que todo se sienta más… cercano. Más incómodo también, porque no puedes “arreglar” nada mágicamente.
Life is Strange: Before the Storm é o jogo que conta os acontecimentos antes do primeiro. Basicamente, busca responder algumas questões sobre a personagem Rachel Amber que é uma personagem chave do primeiro jogo.
Porém, não sei se é só comigo, mas chegou uma hora em que esse jogo estava ficando bem chatinho. Eu rushei para chegar ao final e completar os 100%. Para mim, ele poderia ser uma DLC de 3 horas no maximo, Eu achei que tem muita encheção de linguiça aqui.
Pode ser que eu tenha tido esse sentimento também porque uma das coisas que mais gostava no primeiro era o controle do tempo. Aqui, como o jogo substitui isso por um sistema de discussão com os personagens, na minha opinião não se compara às mecânicas do primeiro. Talvés se a Square Enix tivesse colocado o jogador na pele da Rachel e mostrar a história pelo olhar dela, em vez do da Chloe, tornaria as coisas mais interessantes, eu acho.
Enfim, se você gostou muito da HISTÓRIA do primeiro jogo (e gosta muito, mas muito mesmo, das crises de adolescente da Chloe), Life is Strange: Before the Storm será um bom jogo. Já se você, como eu, gostou da história, mas também queria uma mecânica de gameplay interessante, provavelmente do segundo episódio para frente já vai estar de saco cheio do jogo e querendo terminar rápido.

通过三章的刻画，让我从正面认识了一个优秀、聪明、勇敢、冲动、敏感的瑞秋。
她是每个人口中都会提到并且称赞的人，她身上就是有一股致命的吸引力，吸引你去抛开现实，去疯狂去逃跑，去做些“坏”事。
她也并不完美，有着野兽的那一面。特别是当自己的信任崩塌时，她散发的绝望和崩溃就像是一枚炸弹，把自己的心摧毁彻底。情绪汹涌而来时，就像那场山火，愤怒地燃烧着，久久不息。
每个人都爱她，可不是每个人都懂她。
就像她对克洛伊说过，我可能有一天会离开这个地方，离开你，不要惊讶。
她其实不属于任何人，在每个人的生命里留下痕迹之后，又会去追求自由，去追星星。
越知道她这么好，就越不敢把故事进行下去，因为你知道结局。根本不应该是这样的结局。
写到这里突然也就明白了，不管是瑞秋还是克洛伊，她们都不应该经历这样那样的事。
也正因为是两个都需要疗伤的人，如此相似，才会彼此吸引。

啊 不得不说，彩蛋章节结尾放克洛伊爸爸的事，我真的是，故事好，就是想给编剧两锤。

Achei a historia bem interessante, embora não tão impactante quanto o primeiro life is strange, nessa trama a narrativa foca mais no desenvolvimento de personagens e seus dramas pessoais, tem momentos bem legais (tipo a cena final do episodio 1), e ter a Chloe como protagonista foi uma otima escolha, aqui entendemos um pouco mais sobre o passado da personagem depois da Max se mudar pra cidade de Seattle e a deixa-la em Arcadia Bay.
Falando mais tecnicamente, achei os gráficos desse aqui melhores que o do primeiro life is strange, e acredito que melhoraram na parte da otimização do jogo também, com menos travamentos e menos bugs em comparação com o primeiro jogo (não que o primeiro jogo tenha muitos bugs, mas tem alguns aqui e ali bem de vez em quando)
Trilha sonora digna de um jogo de Life is Strange, nada a reclamar, só sinto que as musicas do primeiro jogo são mais marcantes, mas esse aqui tem umas bem legais também
Enfim, é um otimo jogo, me diverti muito interagindo e explorando mais do passado da Chloe e amei conhecer a tão falada Rachel Amber que é uma personagem super interessante e cativante assim como a Chloe.

I have so much nostalgia for this game when I bought it on release and it was even my first 100% achievement game on Steam. I considered Before the Storm a good “sequel” (prequel) to LiS that didn’t need to happen, but was done alright. Teen angst really summarizes Before the Storm, and I totally get some of the writing and character behavior looking back on it.
Chloe and Rachel’s story here was very touching, if perhaps a little rushed towards Episode 3 (and I remember finding the ending unsatisfying). I have criticized these types of games for being something you could watch a playthrough on YouTube for, and I think BtS suffers the most from this unlike Life is Strange which had proved me otherwise. But I’ll recommend this to any LiS fan.

It was so interesting to see this stage of Chloe. Not entirely sure of herself, not quite grown into the brash and confident person we see in LiS.
Throughout the game we see little bits of dramatic irony, such as Rachel's desire to disappear which made me sad everytime. :[
Since Chloe has a set personality within LiS, i found myself considering what SHE would do in regards to important decisions, compared to LiS where my decisions shaped Max's character. Chloe isnt a blank slate like Max, and that lends itself to mischaracterisation when players make decisions based on their OWN morals. Sometimes the game puts Chloe in situations where you need to decide between the BAD choice and the WRONG choice (The final choice between telling Rachel about her mother and what went down at the mill OR lying to her and protecting her relationship with her family), as opposed to LiS, where you decide between the GOOD/SELFISH choice and the RIGHT/SELFLESS choice (saving Chloe vs saving Arcadia Bay).
In LiS I completed the game twice (different endings) and always felt some semblance of "I made the right choice" based on the decisions I made throughout the game. The first time I fully followed my gut (saved chloe) and the second time I tried to chose the "correct" option every time (saved arcadia bay). However through my two playthroughs of this game, I felt like I had made the worst choice regardless of how it played out. On one hand, Rachel knows the truth about (and maybe gets to meet) her real mother, but the relationship with her family is essentially tarnished forever, if not completely ruined. On the other hand, lying to Rachel will protect her from the hard truth and she will still (maybe?) have a good relationship with her family, but she will never know her mother and will always feel like a part of her is missing, which I believe goes against the entire point of the story.
The one thing i wouldve liked to see more of is Nathan. He gets barely any backstory in my opinion. Sure, his father is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and that affects his self esteem and confidence, and after Drew presumably graduates he becomes the bully, but at the end of the day thats all we really know. Nathan needed more development, and i think that Samantha couldve been the bridge between Chloe and Nathan for the sake of player perspective.
Overall its a 7/10. A valuable insight into the events before LiS.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a fantastic prequel that absolutely deserves to stand beside the original Life is Strange. It captures the same powerful mix of emotion, drama, and heartfelt storytelling, while adding its own identity with some more fun moments.
Walking in Chloe’s shoes, seeing Arcadia Bay and watching her relationship with Rachel Amber grow gives so much extra weight to the events of the first game. The writing is sharp, grounded, and genuinely touching; the emotional highs and lows hit just as hard as in Life is Strange, and in some scenes, even harder because you already know what the future holds.
Despite the heavy themes, Before the Storm adds more playful elements than the first game. There are plenty of funny and charming, moments.
Even though the original voice actors are not all the same, the new cast does an excellent job. It took me only a few minutes to forget that anything had changed. Combined with the great soundtrack and atmospheric art style, the voice work helps the world feel alive and believable.
The soundtrack gives the game its soul. The atmosphere turns places into emotional and nostalgic landscapes. The chemistry and electricity between Rachel and Chloe feel intimate and beautiful.
The game is definitely worth the time ♥

Not as good as Life is Strange and not made by DONTNOD (though maybe that's a good thing after they went off the rails), but very good, better than LIS2/Tell Me Why and made me like Chloe Price a lot more.
I absolutely loved Life is Strange, having it as one of my favorite games of all time. Unfortunately, the series split between DONTNOD doing a lot of activist-style content and then Deck Nine taking over to do more LIS1-related stories. While it means that both parties are making lesser-than-LIS games, this one is as close to the heights that LIS reached at the time of its publishing.
The Positives:
-They were able to maintain a lot of the same vibes of LIS with a new team, which was good.
-The Chloe-Rachel relationship is very nice.
-I like how you learn where a lot of Chloe's personality came from (though, to paraphrase the Drinker's review of Solo: A Star Wars Story, not everything needs a backstory/origin story and you don't have to know how everything came about) and get to see how she got to where she was in LIS.
-They did a decent job giving the game some gameplay when the core mechanic of the first game is impossible here. It even fit with the character, even though trash talking as a "super power" is pretty strange (pun intended).
-I felt something from the story, meaning they did it right.
The Negatives:
-Like Back to the Future, the time travel aspect of LIS makes it so much fun. You can't have that here for obvious reasons, so it's not as cool in that regard.
-The game obviously ends up where LIS is since it's a prequel, so it's more backstory than new developments. But you do get to meet Rachel Amber, which is nice.
-If you're looking for gameplay, this has a little less than LIS—there's only so much backtalking can do, and so it's more story-driven (which is fine with me, but others might not like it).
-I actually like Chloe better here than in LIS (because Max is offsetting her in the first game, so she is just annoying a lot of the time), but they give her the backtalk mechanic so she still has an edge to her. They do show her in between her old goodie self when she was friends with Max earlier and her rebellious self, but I expected a little more of the goodie side. We know from LIS what caused her to act out, so it's not out of character given what happened, but I still think it should've been a little more in between than it was. But I could be wrong since the trauma could've hit hard and caused her to be that way pretty quickly.
Overall, I like this second to the original LIS thus far in the series. I look forward to playing the others to see what happens, but I also know it's difficult given how the first game was so perfectly structured that making games around it has a high risk of screwing up the original by retconning or contradicting it. But this one was fun and gave me the feels at the end, so I think it's really good. I have some minor issues, but it's hard to compare anything to the wonderful game that is LIS. It's not fair, really, and I think that the only reason this isn't seen as better than the reception it gets is that LIS was so great. This was good, and I hope they can keep the quality up as long as they keep making sequels and related IP. Either way, I'll always have LIS in my memory.

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm oferuje wszystkie najlepsze elementy poprzedniej gry – świetną ścieżkę dźwiękową, spokojne sekwencje relaksu, codziennie perypetie nastolatek i bardzo dobrze nakreślone postacie. Zabrakło tu jednak większego nacisku na nadającą rozgrywce celowość klamrę narracyjną, która balansowałaby te elementy, skłaniała do parcia naprzód i zapewniała potężną dawkę emocji.
Z tego względu, choć czas spędzony z produkcją studia Deck Nine mija przyjemnie, nie serwuje ona oczekiwanych doznań i zbyt często sprawia wrażenie, jakby całość nie zmierzała do niczego konkretnego. Gra przypomina środkowe odcinki sezonu dobrych, acz długich seriali, które wprawdzie ogląda się całkiem nieźle, ale są one głównie wypełnieniem czasu między najmocniejszymi odcinkami początkowymi i finałowymi.
Tak też określiłbym Before the Storm – jako niezłe wypełnienie czasu między pierwszą a drugą pełnoprawną częścią Life Is Strange. Jest przyjemnie, ale tytuł ten nie zagrzeje długo miejsca w naszej pamięci. Pokazanie początków przyjaźni Chloe i Rachel wypadło nieźle, ale nie rzuca nowego światła na wydarzenia w kontynuacji ani nie oferuje wyjątkowej jakości jako takie, zbyt silnie opierając się na poprzedniej odsłonie cyklu.
Peak. gut wrenching story, even preferred it to the first game. Make sure to play LiS 1 first tho.

Mais um acerto incrível dos desenvolvedores em ambientação e história. A trilha sonora brilha novamente com a música "Nothing Wrong - PissHead" ( que vou ser obrigado a adicionar na minha playlist ). Obrigado a Square Enix e a Thayná Martins, minha namorada que me deu o jogo de presente, por me darem a oportunidade de ter essa experiência.
Espero que, no futuro, os desenvolvedores criem jogos com as histórias e perspectivas do Nathan Prescott. Sinto que seria de grande riqueza para a franquia que os fãs pudessem ver na prática como foi o lado dele da história, começando como um garoto bom e confuso, mas terminando como um louco manipulado.

I really enjoyed playing Before the Storm. The music was great and the characters were very engaging. The graphics looked great, and the controls felt smoother and better than in the first game. The game also has a collections feature that was helpful because it made it easier to find graffiti and complete achievements. However, since the game is a prequel, released after the original Life is Strange, all of the choices do not have any impact on the whole story between both games. I also wish the game added more depth and background to the characters and world for players who already played the original game.

Im in LOVE with this game already but before the storm is ACTUALLY DIFFERENT, Chole and Rachel have such a natural chemistry…chaotic,emotional and really heartfelt.. watching their bond grow felt SPECIAL and its the kind of connection that stays with you EVEN after you finish the game

Oh boy... where do I even begin with reviewing this one even?
When this is put side-by-side with the original LiS game, I can't help it but say that this game is far less inferior in story & character development as well as writing and general gameplay. The story is quite all over the place with the relationship between Chloe and Rachel feeling super mega forced, the nightmare sequences feeling so weird and repetitive to go through, the writing in the first two episodes it's quite cringey and edgy too - with episode 3 being definitely the best out of the three where the game remembered that it should behave like a proper Life is Strange game. Character development also feels thrown out there just for the sake of it, not super compelling if I'm being honest. While Max has rewind abilities, Chloe's unique ability is to...backtalk anyone? To be sincere, I didn't find the Backtalk mechanic all that compelling, and in a lot of ways it made Chloe uneccesarily aggressive and edgy in most backtalk interactions. When the mechanic is shown for the first time, you have a neat and straight to the point tutorial, but an issue I have with it is that for some god forsaken reason, you are reminded of how the mechanic works on your first backtalk scenes from episodes 2 and 3. Why? I have no idea.
Now onto some positives because I don't want to just talk negatives in this review. At the very least, the OST still remains a really good bag - mostly with rock songs because rebel Chloe loves rock, obviously. The clothes offered during the moments when you can change outfits are a nice touch (especially that Jane Doe outfit, I love that one!), having at least one kissing scene with Chloe and Rachel was sweet, and the bonus episode "Farewell" was also a nice twist, which I feel like should have been introduced right before the first episode or be part of the main game from 2015.
Despite its weaknesses, I can't say that I don't recommend playing this game, especially if you are an LiS fan like I am, however I will say that the overall experience was painfully average.

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm to solidny prequel i dobre uzupełnienie wydarzeń z pierwszej części serii. Fajnie było zobaczyć, co działo się wcześniej i lepiej zrozumieć pewne wątki.
Jako rozszerzenie historii – działa. Daje kontekst, pogłębia relacje i pozwala spojrzeć na znane wydarzenia z innej perspektywy. Jeśli ktoś pokochał pierwszą część, to warto zagrać choćby dla pełniejszego obrazu.
Natomiast sama historia nie porwała mnie aż tak bardzo. Nie wciągnęła emocjonalnie w takim stopniu jak oryginał.
Największym problemem były dla mnie postacie. Ani Chloe, ani Rachel nie przypadły mi do gustu. Trudno było mi się z nimi utożsamić czy naprawdę im kibicować, co osłabiło odbiór całej opowieści.

Me encantó. No me pegó tan fuerte como la historia base de Life is Strange, no creo que llegue tampoco a los talones en cuanto a banda sonora PERO sigue siendo una MUY buena precuela. Es caótica, fuerte, llena de dolor, altibajos, sigue teniendo impacto la música, sí, y mucho más.
Podemos ahondar y conocer más a Chloe antes de su reencuentro con Max, entender el cómo llega a ser la chica que es en la siguiente entrega... como descubre que si no corre nadie la espera, que no hay quien confíe en su desorden ni en sus reglas. Podemos ver más de Rachel y el lazo que las une, la chispa que hizo que Chloe entendiera que no estaba sola, que daría todo por ella de igual forma. La intensidad emocional como combustible, apoyo y faro en sus vidas.
En mi opinión sería mejor jugar primero esta entrega porque sería más impactante el desarrollo en la historia cuando se llegue al base pero queda en cada uno. Yo me enteré tarde pero igual lo disfruté.
El DLC es cortito y simple, tal como dice el nombre del capítulo es la despedida de Max antes de irse a Seattle con su familia, el comienzo de la Chloe que conocemos. Citando una frase icónica "ese día algo cambió dentro de Lotso, algo se quebró".

我會覺得暴風前夕是一款不錯的遊戲，但是是一款失敗的前傳
為什麼這樣說是我覺得前傳應該是要解釋本傳沒有解釋的事，像是為什麼角色跟角色會有這種關係啊，為什麼這個角色會變成這樣啊
當年我通過了奇異人生１之後，其實我是期待前傳會解釋FCR三個人的關係，然後我抱著興奮的心情玩暴風前夕，我還記得那時候是每隔一段時間才會開放一章的，玩頭兩章的時候我覺得很滿足，音樂很棒，我到現在還有空會聽Daughter 的歌，因為當時遊戲的畫面跟音樂讓我留下深刻印象，甚至因為這樣我買了實體版收藏，我很感激暴風前夕讓我認識Daughter
但玩完最後一章的時候，我只覺得「就這?」
花了兩章時間知道了R的角色背景，然後在最後[spoiler] 我說服了R的親母[/spoiler]對R這個人的影響是什麼呢？這是影響她怎樣面對FC甚至J了嗎？不知道，玩完前傳之後我深切感受到為什麼C會喜歡R，但對於R這個人我還是滿滿的不了解。
如果她不是奇異人生的前傳，我是覺得暴風前夕是「不錯」的遊戲
有很棒的音樂，因為這樣遊戲的氣氛很棒，劇情雖然我覺得是爛尾，但整體來說是可以接受。玩法的話一定是比不上奇異人生本傳，畢竟時間回溯這能力太有趣了，很難超越，但CHLOE的吵架技能(?)我覺得是一個不錯的嘗試
我覺得如果想了解CHLOE的話大家是可以考慮買這遊戲，但如果是為了看劇情的話……我是不太推薦

Такой быт вполне меня устраивает: люди вокруг отстой, и я не лучше них. Но здесь пред вами предстаёт - Хлоя, человек, способный ломать любые стереотипы и плюющий на мнение окружающих.
В этой игре вы сможете прожить ту жизнь, которую вы никогда не забудете и всегда будете возвращаться к ней. Персонажи, в которых невозможно не влюбиться, музыка, которая погружает вас в вечный цикл переслушивания. Эта реальность так прекрасна, но она является лишь плодом человеческого воображения, где нет места реальности...
Захотев что-то поменять в своей, вы скорее всего набредёте на подводные рифы, от которых у вас появятся раны... Но вспомнив, через что прошла Хлоя, вы будете пробовать снова и снова. Боль не останавливает - она служит мотивацией для изменений.
Также нельзя не упомянуть группу Daughter, которая написала целый альбом к этой игре. Каждый трек отражает внутреннее состояние Хлои, сочетая в себе меланхоличный пост-рок и дрим-поп. В каждом из них можно найти себя, вспомнить свои моменты из жизни и погрузиться в этот мир, прячась от всех. Он прекрасен и заслуживает того, чтобы его послушал каждый.
Запустив однажды Before the Storm, она изменит тебя навсегда.

As vezes eu me ponho no lugar da chloe e da para entender o pq ela destrata ou farpa a max no primeiro jogo
Uma pessoa que vc considerava a sua melhor amg do dia pra noite apenas some da sua vida sem dar satisfação, algo que ate hoje com 11 anos de jogo nunca foi explicado o pq disso
O que eu quero dizer e que esse jogo consegue ser melhor que o principal e as sequencias da franquia, foram os 44 reais mais bem gastos da minha vida
