When I saw a stream of this game, I was surprised and intrigued by its setup. The whole computer styled multi-window system, how the whole game is like an OS arrangement, and the ease of getting into the game as well as setting up how the world's difficulty is for each run make this a worthwhile game to enjoy and replay.
Well recommended for those who like a challenge, but also a simplicity to the RPGing.

RPG "simulator" game. You are running a character in a primitive-like RPG with realtime combat. Use your windows-based operating system to move across the map, encounter monsters and allocate resources between container windows. Try not to die.
Fogey alert: This game will take your screen resolution from whatever machine you run it on. If that resolution is high, the text on the screen can be too small to read. Changing the resolution ingame doesn't seem to do anything.
This game is presented as a windows-based desktop simulation, with windows for your stats and equipment, your inventory, the map, incoming messages with quests, etc. These windows can be opened or closed and moved around at will. You can open windows using the "desktop" "icons" and the "start menu".
You travel on the map by clicking on locations. When moving between locations you may encounter enemies. Enemies are represented by windows that move around on the screen. You attack said enemies by using buttons on said moving windows. If you have multiple enemies, you have multiple windows moving around independently, each with its buttons.
Loot that you find or prise from enemies can be moved between windows on your screen. You can have multiple containers open, each as its own window, including your equipped gear, and drag items between them. There's a weight limit, but apparently weight is contained in a container, even if that container is logically inside another.
All this is novel, and would have been hot s##t back when I was playing Rogue in the 80s. It would have been cool around the time MSWindows came out in the 90s. Maybe it was interesting when it was released ten years ago. Today, when I get on MMOs and fight realtime combat with hotkeys, it's a pain in the ass.
Oh, right. Almost forgot about the permadeath.
Got it in a Humble Bundle, so likely paid US$2 or less. At the current Steam price of $10 it's a novelty, but might be a more fun novelty if on sale.

Definetly has more style than depth, I love the aesthetics but gameplay is pretty basic and never evolves. I beat the game a couple times and once you know what you're doing it's trivial.
This is a perfect game for those who have a good imagination, creativity and even just to pick up to play for a little here and there. You'll find yourself hooked by the simplicity yet complex nature it does have.
The RPG mechanics are very basic but I still found them engaging in the context of a roguelike. Fun enough to keep playing even after the novelty of the premise wore off.

This is still one I come back to now and then. I love the randomized runs and various classes and abilities you get to have. Together with that MIDI soundtrack on the "Music Player" app in game is just peak awesomeness. Definitely recommend, especially with the latest updates it got!

I love Kingsway. It looks cute, it's simple, and it feels very nostalgic. The windows gimmick is fun - I always move the icons and popups around so all can fit my screen.. it just feels right.
The game's system requirement is very small, your toaster could probably run it too. Lastly, the music is insanely charming! Please make Kingsway 2, please please.

Great little game, found myself playing almost every night for a week.
The game is not particularly deep but the sound is great and it has a charm to it.
Worth it at a lower than normal price, I doubt most will play for as long as I did though.
I watched a full playthrough of this game back when it was released, while the said streamer/youtuber has stopped uploading due to scandal, I really like this game and its novelty. The said streamer didn't play it until an ending if I remembered correctly.
It's short but there's still some replay-ability for each playthrough, its quite fun with some of the monster design being very silly. I love the song as well, it up the immersion a lot.. All in all, a good short indie game to pick up if you like medieval-fantasy RPG with a twist.

As lutas durante a jogatina são bem dinâmicas, que podem variar de acordo com o inimigo que aparece. A progressão de níveis e talentos também muda de acordo com sua classe. O gerenciamento de recursos, assim como em qualquer jogo, é de suma importância.
Uma das melhores compras já feitas aqui na Steam! Recomendo que você veja pelo menos uns 5 minutos de gameplay para ver o que acha. Me lembrei do nada dele pois havia visto um vídeo há uns 8 anos... Sensacional!
If you grew up with Win 3.1 games, this not only captures the feel of those old games, but also throws a great spin with the "windows as game mechanics" functions.
Beyond that novelty, it's very hard to explain, but this just feels like you are playing one of those random obscure shareware games from the early 90's.
Even if you don't finish the game, absolutely worth it for the experience!

18年就买了（半价入的），吃了几年灰后现在才认真地玩了一下。类Windows的界面是最大的特色，想必用过Win 95或者98的80后90前应该会觉得很亲切吧。舔包的时候是拖拽文件移动，旅行的时候类似文件下载，战斗则是最大程度利用了界面特点，比如我遇到一个敌人会扔毒镖，表现为一个弹窗，点击按钮就能成功躲避，手快的话还可以在战斗中喝药甚至换装备，这种设计真的相当有意思。
另一方面游戏有点肉鸽要素，角色HP归零就永久死亡，只能继承一件物品给下一位冒险者，当然也有解锁后永久生效的全局奖励。我目前已经转生四次了，感觉都是浪死的，很快怪的等级就会超过自己，跑又没跑掉，于是就寄了。感觉早期还是要在新手城附近转悠转悠练练级的，回复药水也是该喝就喝，不能老是等着升级时的回血，毕竟死亡惩罚是很严重的。

Kingsway is the perfect indie roguelike that I never knew I wanted. It's got an insanely catchy soundtrack and a heck of a fun gameplay gimmick with the whole windows aesthetic. If you love roguelikes do yourself a favor and play the game.

A decent Roguelite. Simple enough to understand and learn, and has secrets that are generally easy to figure out. You can change the scale of the overall screen, but at the largest scale it feels like you have too much space and the windows are too small. At the default scale, you can see well enough, but you will often find 80% of your screen at the end to just be inventory windows that have been shrunk to their smallest sizes.
I only have two complaints:
1. The achievements for each class specify to save the world, which not all endings actually do, despite there being achievements for each ending.
2: Playing a pure-strength build is almost always the most optimal path. Unless you're playing a magic class, are playing smart, and pick the right perks, it's almost always more efficient to just stat dump strength and just spam basic attacks. If you need to hit stat requirements for a spell, you can often just equip Int gear to hit the requirement, as you only need the requirement to learn it, not to use it. Similar with agility requirements, where you can often just equip some agility gear while you have the agility requirement. It turns out that the best defense is a good offense, and killing an enemy before they can even damage you is the best.
There's decent replay-ability, though there's only so many possible events, so by your 5th full run, you'll likely to have seen them all.
For it's price, it's an excellent game, and if you're into achievements, they're all very achievable, with no truly grindy ones.
I love this game! It's incredibly nostalgic and cosy whilst also challenging, balancing encumbrance and trying to dodge curses and poison arrows like annoying pop-ups. Love the music and the whole design of the game too!

This is actually my favorite indie game I've ever played. I really love the Windows gimmick to the game mechanics, and the game is short enough to make it easier to play when you don't want to be sinking hundreds of hours into an adventure. Very replayable, and there are ways to make it more challenging if that's what you're looking for.

This game is the distilled essence of nostalgia. The world is fun to explore, filled with mystery and danger. The quests and rewards are enticing. The music is an absolute bop. Replay rate is quite high. I only wish there was more.
An old school feeling rogue-like with a unique game play style that I have never experienced before. Banger soundtrack, fun to break, lots of secrets, and addicting game mechanics that kept me locked in for hours!

This game is just delightful. A great concept with the adventurer's interface itself being a Windows 3.1-esque interface, great music, nice compact playthroughs with enough endings and enemies to have satisfying replays.

If you've ever played shareware stuff like "Castle of the Winds," messed around with old operating systems, or just enjoyed a lo-fi grand fantasy this is a fun and relaxing game to play. At least until you run into enemies that open multiple popups and your aging, weak reflexes can't carry you through.
The music is largely made by Landon Podbielski of Duck Game and you should buy both this and Duck Game. Duck Game is life, Duck Game is love.

and it still is such a great game. very creative, the idea of everything having a window makes it a challenge with how full the desktop can become. the next best thing if it could somehow be added is a command prompt

Nearly 8 years later and I still come back to this game for a run every now-and-again.
This game has that rare mix of novelty and genuine fun that keeps it bubbling back to the surface of my mind.
If you're looking for some old odd indie gem to kill some time this is a great little pick.

Fantastic RPG that provides a unique interactive twist. Decent amount of content, decent amount of variability. Can get repetitive though but you won't feel it until 10-13 hours in if you vary your game play through the different classes. Lots of things work for it and it was very enjoyable. Has quick time events and an engaging combat system. Quests are meh. Map and landmarks are meh. RIP Adult Swim
