Eh jugado aventuras graficas toda mi vida, por todo lo que lei de este juego esperaba mucho mas. Se me hizo un poco engorroso, estuvo divertido un rato, pero luego me costo seguir jugandolo. ME aburrio. Estaba tratando de no abandonarlo, me force, pero empece a leer los comentarios y lei varias veces que la historia no esta finalizada lo que me hizo tomar la decision de no terminar el juego, y eso que es muuuy raro que yo deje un juego inconcluso.
No lo recomiendo.

King's Quest is a wonderful reimagining of a classic series because each chapter feels completely unique while telling new tales of King Graham's many adventures. The game is packed with a decent amount of callbacks to the original series that fans will love, ranging from bedroom tapestries featuring original cover art to the use of the Ant King's theme from King's Quest 5 during specific moments. The cast of characters is incredibly likeable and each person you meet comes with their own distinct personalities and quirks. I also found myself smiling from ear to ear because of the non-stop humor, especially during a hilarious race in the first chapter. It was even interesting to see some of the villains from the original series portrayed in a new and unexpected light.

The only real downside is that the runtime for each chapter seemed to get shorter and shorter after the first one. This made the later parts of the journey feel a bit rushed compared to the deep and lengthy opening.

Overall King's Quest is a charming and humorous tribute to the point and click genre that succeeds thanks to its fantastic writing and heartfelt nods to the past. While the decreasing length of the chapters is a bit disappointing, the quality of the storytelling and the lovable characters make it a journey well worth taking.

I played this and the entire King's quest series on stream, just before going on a long hiatus.
I can honestly say it hit me in the feels. Both cause this is part of my childhood gaming history, as well as it being funny and conclusive in a very beautiful way.
If you're a fan of old point and clicks, You'll do yourself a favour playing this.

I've always liked point and click adventure games and this still has enough in it to keep me entertained. Whilst the playthrough is different, the fact that I get to play as Graham again as I did in the 90's gives a sense of nostalgia despite a whole different story line. The first chapter is free and I'm still playing it on day 2 at 50% complete. I imagine I will buy a chapter at a time but there are offers for bundles.

TLDR: King's Quest Chapter 1 is fantastic. Play it for free and skip the DLC. You'll want to play the DLC, but none of it lives up to Chapter 1.

Compared to Chapter 1, the rest of the chapters are frankly a huge letdown, and I wouldn't recommend buying the DLC particularly since Activision decided to cheat customers out of the epilogue with the Complete Edition/Season Pass mess, which to this day is not made at all clear in the game or DLC description. There is an epilogue that takes place after Chapter 5 which is now inaccessible to anyone who did not purchase The Complete Edition but did buy the Season Pass - want to make sure you get the Complete Edition? Oh, don't worry, they removed that from the store - so your your only option is to buy the Season Pass and never see the epilogue unless you watch it on youtube. Studios choosing to turn game content into abandonware for truly no reason is incredibly disappointing.

Epilogue aside, the first chapter really sets the expectations high for future chapters. It's a great blend of exploration and puzzle-solving and it's long for a free chapter. It gives the impression that the game would go UP from here, but all of the following DLC chapters just pale in comparison. Features of the game that were emphasized heavily in the first (and second) chapters are dropped in future chapters completely.

The worst case of this is the Choices/Alignment system: the alignment system is weakly implemented across the later chapters and locks in at seemingly arbitrary points - despite most decisions in one run aligning with Compassion for 3 chapters, a single choice to ask the Wise characters for advice locked my run into "Wise" (despite having chosen to call myself "King Graham the Compassionate" and previously never making Wise decisions, he becomes "The Wise" for all future episodes). The alignment system and "choices" aspect is further abandoned completely in the last two chapters other than quick references to the king's alignment from the past. Chapter 4 in particular is mostly a series of variations of the same exact sliding tile puzzle without much else.

I love puzzle games, but the later chapters just do not have the puzzles that the first chapter does.

As it stands, rating the whole package, that being episodes 1-5, I think I'd give it a 6/10. It's not really like old King's Quest (which is good, those games have aged horribly), but it isn't ideal for new commers either. If you don't like the point and click adventure games as a rule of thumb, KQ (2015) isn't going to change your mind. I also wouldn't recommend it to noobies to the genre as it isn't a tight experience, instead for those people I'd recommend some of the better Telltale games (like The Wolf Among Us or Tales from the Borderlands) or some of the better recent indie showings (like Shardlight, Technobabylon, or Unavowed). For someone slightly more experienced, well the first episode is free, so if you want to play the best part of the game it will literally cost you nothing. For everyone curious about the rest of the game and those deep into the genre, it's something very slightly different and there is some good stuff, but just like there are worse ways to spend your time, there are better ways too.

J'ai déjà joué à ce jeu il y a des années et il m'avait déjà marqué de part sa narration et ses situations un peu loufoques, son gameplay sortant de l'ordinaire et surtout ses personnages tous plus attachants les uns que les autres. Mais y rejouer m'a vrm mis une claque, je pense notamment à la fin qui est juste parfaite. C'est toute une aventure qu'on suit tout le long du jeu, du début jusqu'à sa fin et je trouve ça incroyable. "King's Quest (2015)". Ich hatte bereits damals, als dieser Titel erschien, mit großer Vorfreude reingespielt. Leider wurde ich enttäuscht, da die meisten Elemente in diesem Spiel sich eher dem "Wir haben das nun in 3D, also müssen viele Funktionen darin stattfinden"-Feature unterworfen haben. Auch war es ratsam, es mit dem Joypad zu spielen. Nun habe ich mich erneut herangewagt, da ich diese Fakten bereits vergessen habe, aber an welche ich schmerzlich wieder erinnert wurde. Ich habe inzwischen das erste Kapitel komplettiert, bin mir aber nicht sicher, ob ich aktuell weiterspielen werde. I played this franchise as a kid, it was just as epic then as this entry was.

This last entry in the series brings it full circle. We start as young Graham and we grow with him and the kingdom through the years.

The games ending was heartfelt and so true to life, in how we see the world and how we always want one more adventure.

If you are familiar with Seirra click adventure games era this is a must pick up and play.

It is truely a satisfying journey to be had.

I've been a fan of Sierra games ever since I was a kid, so I remember how excited I was when this game was announced. I haven't been able to play it until recently, and honestly, it is an okay game. However, the first 3 chapters feel the most like actual KQ games - the puzzles, the story, the music, even the great animations and backgrounds, those feel most like nostalgia. Chapter 4 exaggerates puzzles, and sort of loses some points, while Chapter 5 is somewhat balanced, with a tragic ending.
If you grew up with the KQ games, I would say to give this game a try. It was a great playthrough, and there was a lot of throwbacks to the actual series - from a section in Chapter 5 in the old pixel art styles, to several music pieces being rearrangements from the old KQ games. I do wish though, that it had save states like the old Adventure games, it restricts you a lot, since you can't go back and do other things, or revisit scenes to try different paths. I appreciated this more choice-based gameplay, and I truly wish the developers worked on other Sierra titles. Shame the Epilogue is only on console though...

Les réseaux ont cette vertu de nous faire replonger vers des genres qu’on apprécie pas nécessairement. Je suis plus de l’école des jeux de tactique, d’action et d’exploration. J’ai aussi tendance à fuir les points and clic et leurs énigmes à la logique improbable qui demande de devenir Tim Shafer pour les comprendre. Mais en tombant sur des extraits de King Quest sur une plate - forme chinoise sur laquelle je devrais passer un peu moins de temps j’ai été saisi par la qualité du jeu d’acteur - pour un jeu vidéo - a fortiori quand en me renseignant, j’ai appris que le jeu avait 10 ans cette année !

J’ai aussi découvert que King Quest est une vieille licence de jeux sortis sur micro - ordinateur, à l’origine du légendaire studio Sierra, à une époque où les jeux d’aventure passent d’une forme strictement textuelle à l’image animée. Et ce King’s Field en reprend certains éléments.

Vu que l’univers des contes de fée et plus globalement la fantasy me plaisent, je me suis laissé tenté une promotion (et puis j’avais besoin de quelque chose de léger après avoir passé ma vie sur Metaphor - Refantasio mdr).

[h1]Il était une fois (oui c’est facile)[/h1]

King’s Field est un récit en cinq chapitres. Le vieux roi Graham de Daventry est souffrant et coincé sur son lit, il raconte à ses petits enfants les éléments marquants de sa vie. Chaque chapitre nous présentera Graham à différents âges, ce qui aura parfois des répercussions sur le gameplay. De l’aventurier balbutiant à un adulte confiant mais dépassé par ses enfants, jusqu’au vieux sage qui lutte contre le poids du temps, les péripéties que nous traversons avec lui en font un personnage attachant et drôle.

L’humour de King’s Quest a fait mouche chez moi. Plus sage qu’un Shrek, tout de même, il parodie avec inventivité son thème, et se permet même un délicieux humour méta (plusieurs fois le jeu se plaint que son aventure devient plus linéaire par exemple xd). Le tout est porté par des animations faciales très expressives qu’on pourrait retrouver chez un classique de Disney, et des doubleurs impliqués.

Le jeu a aussi un univers féérique agréablement absurde : trolls de pont syndicalistes, gardes royaux obsédés par les abeilles et l’odeur de sirop, alchimistes lécheurs de crapauds, … on est régulièrement surpris par toute cette loufoquerie, qui se retrouve jusque dans les énigmes, là pour le coup plus dans le ton d’un jeu Lucasarts de l’époque.

[h1]Des énigmes loufoques, des puzzles classiques, une action basique[/h1]

Fondamentalement la plupart des chapitres sont des sessions d’exploration visant à faire évoluer l’histoire, souvent en aidant les nombreux personnages secondaires, ce qui sera l’occasion de choisir celles et / ou ceux avec qui on se lira d'amitié, voir plus.

J’ai beaucoup apprécié le fait que le jeu ne soit pas qu’un point and click “amener objet A à personne B qui donne objet C pour ouvrir porte D”, mais arrive à mélanger ces moments d’exploration avec des session de puzzle plus intense, au point qu’un des chapitres est quasi entièrement présenté sous la forme d’un escape game. Les puzzles sont très classiques et empruntent aux jeux de société par moment, comme le sudoku ou les carrés magiques. Si cela peut sortir de l’histoire, cela est justifié de manière assez drôle par le goût de Graham pour les énigmes tarabiscotées.

L’équipe de dev a bien géré la manière d’amener les énigmes, mais aussi de les remobiliser dans des formes plus complexes, voire de les combiner ! Les scènes d'action sont des séries de QTE (quick time events) qui ont pris de l’âge, ou des sessions de tir à l’arc / escalade assez quelconques et apportent plus de rythme à l’aventure.

Quelques énigmes cependant sont assez mal conçues et nécessiteraient un peu plus d’étayage. Je pense à une énigme musicale avec des écureuils vraiment pas claire, et à une certaine boîte à musique que ceux qui ont terminé le jeu reconnaîtront.

[h1]Une aventure qui peine à garder un rythme et manque d’intensité.[/h1]

J’ai globalement beaucoup aimé le suivre l’aventure, et certains points sont remarquablement traités : je ne connais pas un jeu qui traite de manière aussi sincère le fait de vieillir, de perdre en autonomie, et des proches qui anticipent le deuil d’un être aimé. En cela King’s Quest fait école sur un point où je ne l’attendait absolument pas.

Cependant j’ai quelques regrets pour ce qui, au vu du recyclage de certaines zones et mécaniques, me paraît être lié à des difficultés dans le développement :
- Si le premier chapitre est très ouvert et varié, les autres se déroulent de manière plus linéaire.
- Certains points, comme la relation père / enfants, sont traités un peu légèrement. Pour ne pas trop en dire, un personnage important disparaît et réapparaît un peu gratuitement, avec à peine quelques explications.
- Le final a d’excellentes idées de narrations, mais se termine par une épreuve un peu grotesque qui désamorce assez la tension selon moi.

La fin du jeu reste très émouvante, bien qu’un peu triste et on aurait aimé avoir un vrai épilogue sur certains personnages, et aussi que le jeu nous laisse aller voir ce que deviennent tous les personnages secondaires sans avoir à relancer une partie. Pourquoi devoir choisir entre la forgeronne badass ou la boulangère qui vient d’avoir son bébé ?

Addendum : un épilogue est en effet disponible, mais pas dans la version du season pass. Un comble ! Mais pour l’avoir regardé en let’s play, il se focalise seulement sur un seul personnage et ne brille pas par son originalité. Vous ne ratez pas grand chose au final, mais j’aurais préféré un épilogue qui montre ce que les personnages sont devenus, un peu à la manière d’un Pentiment (que je vous recommande au passage si vous avez aimé King’s Quest.

Si vous aimez les puzzles, les jeux à énigme, portés sur la narration, alors King’s Quest - malgré ses défauts et pour un petit prix - mérite que vous y passiez du temps. C’est une belle histoire qui saura vous faire sourire par son humour et sa féérie.

Manette conseillée, mais pas indispensable.

This game made up my childhood and was the start of my gaming career, this game was genuinely so fun. The thing is though, I wasn't even playing the other chapters except for chapter 1, because I don't think my parents wanted to spend money on a game. But thanks to my dear friend Caleb, I was able to get chapter 2 and 3, maybe in the future he will gift me chapter 4 and 5, but I've heard chapter 5 is VERY hard, I've seen walkthroughs of the chapters when I was young, but I barely remember them. Right now, I am on chapter 3 after I finished chapter 2, but I don't think I can get through this game, the beginning is just way too awkward when King Graham proposes to the two women at the same time, I just can't handle it!😂

I have not played a lot of games like this and while some of the puzzles were real headscratchers, and a few even so vague you'd may in fact have to just look it up, I was able to deal with the vast majority of them. When it comes down to it though, this is a game where story takes precedent over all else. And it is a charming one. King Graham's journey was well written and very whimsical. I enjoyed running into every character in the game and was heartbroken by the end of it.

This game's overall moral is about legacy and accepting the finite time we all have in this world. Nobody will live forever but if we play our cards right, we might be remembered forever.

I won't lie, it brought a tear to my eye at the end of the game. I am truly glad I played this.

N'ayant aucun passif avec l'antique série de [i]point'n click[/i] de Sierra, je me suis d'abord laissé séduire par le style visuel et surtout la qualité des animations. Avec comme superbe vitrine un premier épisode à la fois très long, très bon et surtout très gratuit, j'ai immédiatement enchainé avec les autres épisodes (payants forcément) puis finalement lâché l'affaire pour une sombre histoire de caisses.

Comme je le disais, ce qui surprend au départ c'est le soin apporté aux animations et à la mise en scène, souvent burlesque mais toujours très soignée. Les personnages sont attachants, bien écrits et surtout intégralement doublés en français. La VF est d'ailleurs excellente et contribue à cette impression de participer à un film d'animation. Un film techniquement très moyen, certes, mais doté d'un charme fou grâce à son univers vraiment singulier. Reste à savoir si vous êtes un minimum réceptif aux énigmes parfois un peu tordues (rien d'insurmontable je pense vu que je suis une tanche en énigmes) et aux multiples allers-retours, assez nombreux dans l'épisode 1 et 2.

Pour ma part, j'ai mes limites : les caisses. Qu'elles soient à pousser, à tirer ou à lâcher, je trouve que ça pue. Le problème c'est que l'épisode 4 n'est qu'un enchainement de salles, sans âme et simplement prétexte à nous faire enchainer les énigmes à base de caisses, de dalles et de labyrinthes. Pour un épisode intitulé "Une famille en froid", c'est surtout moi qui n'était plus très chaud pour continuer.

C'est d'autant plus dommage que les précédents épisodes étaient vraiment originaux, notamment le second tournant autour de l'évasion d'une prison, avec ses multiples solutions et une notion de temporalité plutôt bien exploitée. Même la progression des épisodes alternant entre passé et présent et suivant le héros à différents âge de sa vie était vraiment bien vue.

Après il ne faut pas que mon blocage vous arrête. Si vous retrouver face à quelques parallélépipèdes ne vous effraie pas, vous pouvez passer à la caisse.

1984 = Das ist nicht nur ein verstörendes und geniales Buch über unsere aktuelle Gesellschaft!

Aber jetzt ist vieles davon bereits eingetreten und wir können es fast als Leitfaden für die aktuelle Entwicklung unserer westlichen Zivilisation gebrauchen.
Ebenso wie aus dem Buch Fahrenheit 451![/spoiler]

1984 war auch das Jahr als Sierra mit KING´S QUEST die Welt der Computerspiele bereicherte und überraschte!

Davor gab es so diese Art Grafikadventure einfach noch nicht.
Es war das erste animierte farbenfrohe Knobelspiel. Entwickelt von 8 Programmierern
[spoiler]darunter auch Damen, wie etwas Roberta Williams, was 1983 noch nicht selbstverständlich war[/spoiler] in 18 Monaten.

Das Spiel schlug ein wie eine Bombe.
Wurde auf jedes System konvertiert
[spoiler]Ausser dem C64 - er hatte einfach zu wenig Farben[/spoiler]
und mehrmals ge-remaked.

[h3][code]King´s Quest war in den 80ern und 90ern das Eldenring und Assassins Creed und Call of Duty.
Das heisst, alle kannten es und jede neue Ankündigung weiterer Teile wurde frenetisch gefeiert![/code][/h3]

Mit dem Aussterben der Adventure starben dann auch als die guten Veteranen wie
- Monkey Island
- Gobliiins
- Larry
- King´s Quest
- Sam & Max
- Purple Tentacle
- Simon the sorcerer
- und viele mehr

Und genau diese alten Haudegen (wie ich) lieben es neue Versionen und Remakes und Remaster dieser Klassiker auf die sehnsüchtig wartende kleine Community los zulassen.

Dann kommt eben doch noch mal ein neues Monkey Island (siehe Test unten) - oder eben ein neues King´s Quest.

Diese neue Version von Graham und Daventry ist wunderschön.

Unreal-Engine im Celshading-Look.

Ein wenig wie Borderlands in märchenhaft.

Man kann sich gar nicht satt sehen an den wundervollen Szenen voller liebevoller Animationen und den schönen und skurilen Charakteren.

Ein schöner Disneyfilm. Oder eher ein Sony-Film.
Die Ästhetik hat nämlich auch viel von Spiderman Morales.

Die große Freude über King´s Quest erhält auch hier keinen Dämpfer.

Junge, Junge ... sind das gute Synchronsprecher.
Egal wer hier seine Stimme leiht - vom einfachen Gardisten hin zu den Hauptfiguren - alle sind extrem motiviert und gut gelaunt.

Das färbt ab.

Die Hotspots und das Inventar sind zum Glück nicht überfutend, wie zuletzt bei Deponia 4 und Co.
Eher wieder wie bei "Monkey Island 1" oder auch bei "der letzte Windmönch"

So wird man nie ausgebremst. Ist immer irgendwie im Flow und weiß ungefähr was zu tun ist.

I played this the first time when it came out and nearly 10 years later, I'm having my kids watch with me as we go through it again, and they're enjoying every minute as if it were an animated movie. The thrills ("DAD JUMP FASTER DAD JUMP FASTER!"), the sad times, the touching moments, the WHOA WHAT moments .. it's all just so well made. I have always enjoyed the 5-episode layout of adventure games, but not all of them do it well -- this one has cliffhangers, but also doesn't require them since it's a retelling of old stories.

You really start to care about the individuals in this game as it goes along, and I'm just as touched by the great moments now as I was the first time. A few episodes still are just tiresome to get through, but the good moments make it all worth it. I hope more people continue to buy and enjoy this game.

LOVED. I was a little skeptical going into this, as i have very fond memories of playing kings quest 3, 4 and 5 as a kid, so i wasn't sure how this reboot would land for me. But it's so delightful!! Full of nostalgia and puzzles and humor and Christopher Lloyd and Wallace Shawn giving really fun VO performances that just add to the general nostalgia. Really nice touch that there are also moments in the game where your decisions shape the story in fun ways. five stars. I wish there was more :)

"King's Quest" is not a complete game. It's an advertisement/demo, and you have to pay more money through DLC to actually unlock the full game. What do you get if you let the deceptive and shady marketing win and pay the DLC toll to unlock the game?

King's Quest is King's Quest, but remastered... great! But remember... you don't get the full game unless you pay up. Bad, very bad. This is not free. You have to pay.

The purpose of this advertisement is to get you to shell out a whopping SIXTY FIVE UNITED STATES DOLLARS on buying DLC packages that unlock some or all of the content in the game, and I can't recommend you do that either. The pricing here is simply predatory, abusive, misleading, and ill-intentions. It's even more disgusting that it's come from a business games once revered... with this attitude, maybe it's not such a bad thing they're now a failed business.

What do you do in the game? It's the same point and click adventure from the 1980's, only with markedly better graphics, which really makes it even more of a shame that Sierra has applied this disgusting and predatory pricing to the game. It's absolutely not okay.

And while this advertisement for a remaster of an ancient game works, it is ancient itself, it's over 10 years old... it's a dated remaster of an even more dated game and isn't going to give you a remotely contemporary gaming experience... another reason for gamers to be hesitant about adding this to their libraries.

As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time.

It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here:

While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace.

It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers.

Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
