Kings of Kungfu is a Fighting Game and its selling point is the Shaw Brothers inspired Fighters. There is no Jackie Chan, no Bruce Lee, No Jet Li or Chuck Norris, but you clearly recognize them because they look veeeeeeery close to the originals.
The Controls are average but not bad. It feels a little limited if you ever played a Tekken Game in your life but actually the game still is fun.
There isn´t a real ending sequence in the game except your character portairt in the End a "You won" Screen. But still. The game is entertaining, especially for Kung Fu Film Nerds
These ones can spend the ten bucks without even to hestitate. All others maybe wait for a sale.

I don't know that I'd call this a good fighting game but if you're thinking of buying it then you can probably guess that that's hardly the point. It delivers in exactly all of the ways that it wants to, and it has an absolutely delightful level of jank if you've got a healthy appreciation for jank in an action game. If you're not looking for some novelty, or if you come in trying to find a competitive fighting game in this, you're gonna feel pretty bad. Everyone else: get it on a discount, soak up the vibe, groove to the menu music, laugh a little, and have fun trying to make your wish dot com fighters do what you want them to do.

One of the best indie kung fu fighting games. The jumps are a bit weird imo but the ground fights are pretty cool. Not sure if the players strenghts are balanced. Unsure about the best strategy. And a bit confused about what " handicap stars " are suppose to be ( I see little difference ). But overall a fun game making you relive the movie fights.

From the same developpers you also have shaolin vs wutang and shaolin vs wutang 2.
The difference is this game has 4 actions buttons, while the shaolin vs wutang have 2 + a weapon and evade button.
Imo kings of kung fu > shaolin vs wutang, but I am sure if you like one them, you also like the others.
its a fun karate game. I enjoyed learning all the moves. It is challenging at first but once you come to master the art of the game you crush enemies. This game has local pvp I will try it out later. One thing I would add is more characters. Otherwise this game is great for people who are into martial arts.

This game was the best $1 I spent in a long time. It's very atmospheric, good music track. Controls are similar to Tekken, but a little clunkier, and less fluid. AI was stupid but sometimes gets in good moves. Overall positive experience, had lots of fun playing this game.

Oh baby. Despite what so many down thumbs may say, this is Sunday afternoon Kung Fu Theater bliss. It's simple but with surprising depth. Just don't mash buttons if you want to see the best moves and learn the timing a bit. The graphics are also more than I expected and have that 70s throwback era film reel feel to them. I bought it for a dollar and had a quick play through, but I expect to revisit and try new characters. It would have easily been worth a ten dollar game, but I'm glad I gave it a chance despite what the static pics look like cuz in motion and interacting really sold it. Hey, even if you hardly play it, it's a nice conversation piece and a great gag game for kicks if nothing else. You don't need that dollar menu burger that bad.

Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

É divertido mas tem alguns pontos irritantes:
- A hitbox é quebrada. Golpes podem atravessar o adversário como se fosse um fantasma, e tbm há golpes que não tocam no adversário mas causam dano.
- Os comandos podem falhar. Vc quer andar porém às vezes o personagem agacha ou pula, ou então vc faz o comando de um quarto de lua para frente e o personagem executa o golpe do um quarta de lua para trás. Bizarro!

Teoricamente se consegui terminar o jogo sem perder rounds então eu deveria receber tbm a conquista de sem usar continues. = /
Apesar desses poréns, dou nota 7 para este jogo. As homenagens e a ambientação típica dos filmes wuxia dos anos 70 e 80 tornam o game interessante. Como diria o Bruce Lee, "Seja a água e se adapte".

Die ganze Aufmachung des Spiels erinnert sehr stark bzw. soll sehr stark an Alte Martial Arts/Kung Fu Filme erinnern. Es gibt 14 Spielbare Kämpfer die scheinbar echten Kämpfern/Schauspielern nachempfunden sind, wie z.B. Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Jean-Claude Van Damme, ein junger Chuck Norris, Donnie Yen, Michelle Yeoh usw. Es gibt 3 Spielmodi (Arcade/Story, Versus & Practice). Der Story Mode ist im Prinzip keine richtige Story sondern wie damals bei Mortal Kombat kämpft man nach und nach gegen das ganze Roster bis der Endboss kommt. Die Stages sehen gut aus und sind auch inspiriert von Alten Kung Fu Filmen. Es gibt kein Online Multiplayer sondern lediglich Lokal (man kann aber auch mit Remote Play Together gegen einander spielen). Musik ist gut
[h1] Achievement Schwierigkeit 4/10 [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 12 Erfolge. An sich ist keines der Erfolge schwer aber 2 sind sehr Grindlastig. Man muss z.B. 100 Siege nach einander im Versus Modus machen. Man kann hier einfach gegen einen Zweiten Spieler antreten und den 100 mal verkloppen aber das dauert auch gut 1,5-2 Stunden. Dann muss man noch mit allen 14 Charakteren den Arcade/Story Mode beenden und das sind pro Kämpfer 16 Kämpfe mit jeweils 2 Runden. Dann muss man noch Einmal den Arcade/Story Mode auf den Höchsten Schwieirgkeitsgrad beenden und eine 10er Combo hinlegen was beides aber Einfacher ist als es sich anhört

Aber mir hat es als Fan von eben den besagten Alten Martial Arts/Kung Fu Filmen doch etwas Spaß gemacht aber ich würde eher im Sale zuschlagen

Para todos aquellos amantes de las artes marciales, de las peliculas de bruce lee y jean claude van damme, o chuck norris, etc etc etc, kings of kung fu es un juego genial. Cada personaje tiene su estilo y su forma de pelear, y obviamente sus tomas y patadas y puños especiales. Todo aquel que halla jugado arcade o en salones de videojuegos le encantara este fichin. Mi puntaje, 8. clavado. Y en este caso, mi recomendacion de siempre caera por tiera, ya que lo lindo de este juego es jugarle sin auricularres para que los ruidos de patadas puños y gritos salgan del altoparlante de manera desafiante. 70~80년대 홍콩 무술 영화 속 캐릭터를 한 자리에 모은 대전 액션 게임이란 컨셉은 참 좋다.
근데, 아케이드 모드의 줄거리는 있는데 캐릭터 개별 엔딩 없음, 불안정한 카메라 워크, 거지 같은 조작감, 둘쭉날쭉한 화면 밝기, 캐릭터 2D 일러스트가 표지 사기 수준인 3D 캐릭터 모델링 등등. 게임 전반의 완성도가 떨어져 컨셉을 받쳐주지 못했다. 그래서 컨셉 빼면 아무것도 남는 게 없는 작품.
그나마 컨셉이라도 좋으니 컬트 팬이 생기지, 컨셉도 별로였다면 소리소문 없이 묻혔을 거다.

Vähän kömpelö pelattavuudeltaan mutta eipä tämän kuulukaan yltää minnekään Tekkenin tai Street Fighterin tasolle. Hyvä ero aikaisempaan on tässä pelissä lyhyet latausajat.

Kings of Kung Fu is a great fighting game Inspired by classic Kung Fu movies. Fight as one of the 14 fighters with each their martial arts style. Great graphics style but no online fights, yet you can use Remote Play Together to fight eachother.

Kings of Kung Fu ist ein kleines und sehr günstiges Spiel, das mit den Karate und Kung Fu Kämpfern der 70er bis 90er Jahre ausgestattet wurde. Die Stages, die Musik und auch die Sound Effekte erinnern sehr stark an die Filme dieser Zeit und lassen Nostalgiker entzückt staunen. Leider ist die Steuerung nicht sehr gelungen, aber der gute Sound und die tolle Grafik lässt mich dennoch eine Empfehlung abgeben.

This is a easy "No" for me and a major reason for it is to look at my playtime. I quit twice during the story mode because I thought I'd been playing for an hour. The problems here fall into 2 categories for me.
The first is that while it looks like Kung Fu it plays like a drunken slap fight The controls are extremely stiff and clunky and it all revolves around preset button combos. If you try to deviate or adapt to a situation you have massive cooldowns that kill the flow of the combat. It shouldn't feel bad to knock an enemy into the air because most games won't make you wait for 2+ seconds for him to stand up and continue the fight.
The second is that characters have way too much health or maybe that some characters are just too weak. In both of my runs I found myself taking over a minute to win a fight even when I had a massive advantage and a non-stop beatdown. No matter how good I did... the matches seemed to take a long time.
Neither of the two would have been that bad on their own, but the combination is a killer. Fights take forever and they don't feel exciting. Match after match of this compounds and quickly reaches the point that I'd rather quit than continue.
Kings of Kung Fu is not a cheap cash grab or garbage product, but the building blocks that Jae Lee Productions used to make better games in the future. There's just no reason to recommend a vastly inferior Street Fighter 1 when Street Fighter 2 exists.

"Kings of Kung Fu" ist ein klassischer 2D-Fighter.
Das Spiel steht in der Tradition von den "Street Fighter"-Spielen. Es geht immer eins gegen eins. Jeder hat einen Lebensbalken, den es runterzukloppen gilt.
Bewegungen und Angriffe sind relativ realistisch gehalten, wenn man denn die Moves aus Martial-Arts Filmen als realistisch bezeichnen mag. Es gibt aber zumindest praktisch kein Magiegedöns, sondern es reduziert sich alles auf das pure Kämpfen, und allein das ist schon ein ziemlich positiver Aspekt. Man ist ständig an Filme von Bruce Lee oder Jean-Claude Van Damme. Eine Arena und ein Gegner sind zum Beispiel deutlich eine "Bloodsport"-Referenz.
Es gibt 14 Gegner plus einen Boss-Gegner, ebenso viele Hintergründe, und jeder Charakter hat seinen eigenen Stil und seine eigenen Moves. Und verschiedene Bewegungen gibt es viele. Allein schon deswegen empfiehlt sich dringend ein Gamepad.
Das Problem an dem Spiel liegt allerdings im Gameplay, das sich merkwürdig träge und wenig responsiv anfühlt. Stets fühlt es sich so an, als wäre man viel zu lange in einer Bewegung gefangenohne schon die nächste vorbereiten. Dadurch wirkt alles etwas abgehackt und ein richtiger Flow mag so nicht aufkommen.
Auch die Grafik ist nur auf dem Stand früher Konsolen und kann nur wenig überzeugen, der Sound ist auch bestenfalls mittelmäßig.
An Spielmodi gibt es auch nur wenig. Man kann im Arcade-Modus nacheinander jeden Gegner besiegen oder im typischen Versus-Modus bestreiten und sich den Gegner aussuchen. Das wars dann aber auch.
Auch wenn das Spiel nicht wirklich überzeugen kann, es kann schon ein wenig Spaß machen, wenn man denn nicht zu hohe Ansprüche an einen solchen Titel stellt und nur mal zwischendurch ein bißchen loskloppen möchte, ohne viel nachzudenken und ohne viel Skill haben zu müssen. Ein gutes Konzept mit einer nur schwachen Ausführung.

Very good, beautiful game!! A classic of Fighters with their martial arts.
It took me a while to become aware of this game, but I am glad that I did. Searching the TV channels (back in the day) to find fighting movies was a standard activity for me on the weekends. Of course, the story line didn’t matter. The battles were 99% of the entertainment.
The control inputs for this game do not resemble any modern game I am aware of. Still, spending some time in the training mode lets you discover quite a few things on your own. Overall, I consider the gameplay to be realistic and entertaining. There is lag, but your ability to control the stage and use proper tactics against each opponent will help. The only problem character was the final boss (from the movie The Last Dragon), who unlike the rest of the cast uses the “80s style Kung Fu” where (depending on the movie) people routinely leap over 30 foot walls, disappear in a puff of smoke, and catch arrows in their hands. IMO, this breaks the 70s Kung Fu immersion and also pretty much ruined the game’s primary appeal for me even though I did beat “Mr. Glow” on the first run.
I found the graphics nicely realistic (except for the absurdly out of place boss character) and the special effects such as rain in one of the stages to be well done. Although not state of the art, the graphics are as good or better than many classic fighting games that are still being sold and played today.
The store page says there is partial controller support. If you have an Xbox 360 style controller and don’t mind using the left stick instead of the D pad you should have no issues. I tested a Logitech ChillStream and a Qanba Carbon (both Xbox 360 style) and they were fine.
So is the game worth it? Yes, if it’s on sale and you like old Kung Fu flicks. It is almost certainly not going to be something you will play long term, but I bet you get a few hours of entertainment out of it.

I got this game for relatively cheap in a bundle. On sale/for the price I bought it was really fun although I wouldn't recommend at full price.
Pros:
- All the different fighting styles
- Fighting as iconic characters (Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, etc.)
- Some levels incorporate memorable scenes from movies (Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris at the Colosseum with the cat in the background!)
- Nostalgia^^
Cons:
- Some of the characters appear to have smaller hit boxes making them more difficult from being a smaller target rather than dodging/countering your hit
- Combos can be hit and miss, you can hit 2x-4x relatively easily, but your opponent will sometimes stagger too far back to continue the combo
- Graphics are that of an older arcade game rather than a modern fighting game
For achievement hunters:
This is a relatively easy 100%. However, there are a couple of achievements that are a bit of a grind such as "Winning 100 consecutive games in versus mode" and "Completing the Story Mode with all characters."

As a lover who grew up with these movies, I cannot not having it in my library. I do not really play it. I watched at it and sometimes listen its musics. On a fat sales it goes to 1$. No question to me.
Being a huge martial arts movie fan, I thought this would be the perfect game for me. However, Kings Of Kung Fu was a major disappointment. It's such a shame because it was clearly made by people that love martial arts cinema as much as me, they just lack the videogame design finesse that it needed.
Play as different martial artists with different fighting styles as you engage in a tournament.
While some changes have been made for copyright reasons, you'll notice fighters are clearly based on famous martial arts movie stars. We've got Bruce Lee (Enter The Dragon), Jackie Chan (Drunken Master), Jet Li (Fist Of Legend), Cynthia Rothrock (Undefeatable), Jean-Claude Van Damme (Bloodsport), Tony Jaa (Ong-Bak) and Donnie Yen (Ip Man) to name a few. While there is a nice variety, we are missing out on Steven Seagal (Above The Law).
The game looks and sounds like a 70s/80s kung-fu movie and the stages are inspired by movies too. However, visually the game looks awful. It looks like a game made for an iPad/tablet. There's also a grainy filter to make it look more like a 70s movie but it's just awful. I've seen other games with grainy filter to look like old movies such as House Of The Dead: Overkill but this looks abysmal.
The gameplay is also really clunky. The old Mortal Kombat games from the 90s play way better than this. The initial controls for keyboard were awkward so I quickly changed them. The game does not feel particularly responsive with combat often feeling sluggish.
This game should have been amazing but the visuals, the controls and the combat just spoil it. I love watching martial arts movies so I'm the ideal demographic for this game. It should have been easy to impress me because I love the premise. Unfortunately, the gameplay just falls short.

I'm recommending this game with some caveats. Kings of Kung Fu is clearly a labor of love -- if you look at other Jae Lee games, you'll see that they love them some martial arts. And that love shines in Kings of Kung Fu.
But -- as other reviewers have said: This game is not AAA quality. It's aaaaight, but not awesome; it's not perfectly balanced; the combos can be difficult to pull off; the animations can feel a bit jittery a times; the hitboxes can feel awfully generous for your opponent when you're getting attacked.... If you're expecting AAA quality, you should pass on this game.
But also, the character design is beautiful, the backgrounds are beautiful, the sound effects are on point. I wish the gameplay were a little bit smoother, and the enemies were a bit better balanced. I'd love to see some character backstories. The game is not bad, but it's not super polished either. Truthfully, it's not super deep, and you might get bored quickly.
Having said all that, I'm partial to old school kung fu movies, so this game is in my wheelhouse. To be perfectly honest, I'm probably not going to play it for a ton of hours (I already beat the tournament mode on my first try). But also I don't regret my purchase (maybe it helped that I bought it on sale).
So -- I recommend this game if you're into kung fu/martial arts and you don't mind playing an underdog title that isn't "perfect." Don't let "perfect" be the enemy of "good."

The game play style it's not so good but for 99 cent I can't complain.
For 99 cent I like it, Just to see chinese people fighting the ♥♥♥♥ out of each other.
From my view I like to try something new so I will always buy games when it's on sale with a big discount to try it.

Tryby w grze są dwa - zarówno klasyczny arcade, jak i najważniejszy w tym gatunku, tryb versus, który jest dostępny w wersji gracz kontra maszyna, gracz kontra gracz oraz maszyna kontra maszyna, dla tych, którzy nie mają jak spędzać wolnego czasu. Najwięcej zabawy będą mieli z tego towarzyscy gracze, którzy wraz z podobnymi sobie masochistami będą wesoło naparzać w klawisze, gdyż ci liczący na jakiekolwiek wyzwanie ze strony CPU poczują się jak Bruce Lee w Wejściu Smoka - komputerowy przeciwnik skacze jak co pocieszniejsze postacie Jackie Chana aktywnie unikając zadania nam jakichkolwiek ciosów, kiedy my tłuczemy go bez litości niczym Yip Man Japończyków. Ogarnięcie umiejętności blokowania, o ile taka w ogóle jest dostępna w grze, jest całkowicie zbędne. Na cztery starcia jakie rozegrałem, zostałem przez CPU uderzony słownie cztery razy. Nie ma możliwości dostosowania poziomu trudności w grze.
Niestety, ci, którym nie przeszkadza naparzanie do skaczącej kukły, bądź zaciągnęli jakąś nieszczęsną duszyczkę do męczenia się z tą grą, muszą pogodzić się z faktem, że AI to nie jedyny aspekt, z którym autorzy sobie nie poradzili. Animacje i jakość grafiki przywodzą na myśl Tekkena 2, który na dzień dzisiejszy wyszedł 25 lat temu (w wersji konsolowej). Pewną nienaturalność ruchów postaci można wybaczyć, spojrzeć na nie przez pryzmat właśnie starych automatów, ale autor ewidentnie miał problemy z podstawową fizyką, zwłaszcza w przypadku skoków, które działają po prostu absurdalnie, i raz lądujesz na twarzy przeciwnika, a raz przeskakujesz na drugi koniec mapy. Ilość kombinacji jakie można wykonać jest dość uboga, obrażenia są praktycznie przyznawane losowo, a same postacie są całkowicie niezbalansowane.
Dlaczego więc polecam tę grę? Ba, dlaczego jej jeszcze nie zrefundowałem? Ponieważ jestem fanem kina kung fu i już na pierwszy rzut oka widać, że autorzy tej gry również. Jest to jak dotąd największy wyraz miłości dla kina hongkońskiego. Roster postaci, który jest jak na taką grę zaskakująco bogaty, oddaje w nasze ręce najbardziej kultowe postaci jakie pojawiły się w filmach sztuk walki. Kierując się starą, dobrą, chińską tradycją, autorzy nie silili się nawet na choćby szczątkową oryginalność, przenosząc postaci z filmów na ekrany naszych komputerów, zmieniwszy jedynie ich imiona. Już na samych rysunkowych przedstawieniach postaci możemy zauważyć twarze Bruce'a Lee czy Jeta Li w roly Yip Mana, a w samej już grze widzimy niezmiennie uśmiechniętą buzię Jackiego Chana jako Pijanego Mistrza. Oczywiście jakość grafiki pozostawia wiele do życzenia również w kwestii twarzy i prócz wspomnianego Jackiego Chana, podobieństw zbytnich nie ma (zwłaszcza Bruce Lee woła o pomstę do nieba), ale zarówno ubiór, jak i przede wszystkim charakterystyczny styl walki, który jest zaskakująco wiernie oddany, pozwala nam wczuć się w ulubionych bohaterów, Yip Mana, Lee, Pijanego Mistrza czy Colta z Drogi Smoka (granego przez Chucka Norrisa). Pomimo drewnianej grafiki, powalenie przeciwnika kopniakiem z półobrotu wciąż jest satysfakcjonujące, u Lee widać (i słychać) Jeet Kun Do, a wing chun Yip Mana sprawia, że masz ochotę jeszcze szybciej mashować T i Y, odpowiadające za ataki pięściami. Żal jedynie stylu Pijanego Mistrza, który jest zbyt wolny na warunki tej gry, by stanowić grywalną opcję w walce przeciwko żywemu graczowi. Prócz rosteru postaci mamy także szereg lokacji, które choć nie odstają od postaci jakością grafiki, również przywodzą na myśl najsłynniejsze produkcje kung fu takie jak Droga Smoka (rzymskie Koloseum) czy Yip Man (sala walk pod nadzorem dumnego Japończyka z wywieszonymi flagami w tle).
Reasumując, Kings of Kung Fu to gra obiektywnie słaba i niedorobiona. Jest to ewidentnie dzieło ludzi, którym zabrakło czasu, pieniędzy bądź umiejętności, ale z pewnością nie pasji. Przy wszystkich jej wadach, jest to najwspanialszy list miłosny dla kina kung fu i każdy fan tego gatunku odnajdzie się w niej, a mrużąc oczy i ignorując jej mechaniczne wady, poczuje się jak szczęśliwe, małe dziecko, biorąc swoje ulubione postaci filmowe, którym nigdy nie było dane się spotkać na wielkim ekranie, i stawiając je przeciwko sobie na płaskim ekranie swojego komputera. Choćby dla tego uczucia, warto wydać te 3,60.
