The rhythm game genre has fallen off the map since Guitar Hero and Rock Band saw plastic instruments became common place in living rooms in 2015. Released in 2013/2014, KickBeat attempts to flop together two different genres into a divisive mess with a story that is best described as twaddle.

Best played with a controller, you use the face buttons, to fend off enemy attacks through a variety of inputs in time with the music. The changeable camera angles and coloured lighting are seizure inducing and create artificial difficulty by making certain inputs harder to see depending on the stage.

With all rhythm games, the success of any title depends on how the soundtrack resonates with the audience and the soundtrack in KickBeat is limited although there is the option to import your own music but, this is limited by format (.mp3) and inputs are based on tempo alone.

If you like rhythm games and the soundtrack appeals, there’s fun to be had with KickBeat and it’s more than just a feeble kick despite the lack of content.

Revisited this awesome rhythm game after a decade, still holds up well .. graphics are looking good, you would not recognize the difference if it was made today or 11 years ago

This one was one of my favorites during my rhythm games obsession chapter of life .. definitely worth a try, pretty cool story mixed with little funny moments and absolutely packed with music from legends like Pendulum, Celdweller, Blue Stahli, Rob Zombie and many more

The soundtrack is awful and doesn't even match the rhythm well.
Supposedly, you can use custom music instead, but myself I'm likely never going to find out if that makes the gameplay and controls more bearable.

But it's a pretty cheap game even at full price, maybe it's your thing.
I recommend that you find out while within the return window.

Byłem zachwycony w samouczku, jaka to będzie super energetyczna gra.
Ścieżki dźwiękowe, super. Szkoda tylko, że gameplay jest zj3bany totalnie i przyjemna gra kończy się na samouczku.
W normalnej rozgrywce to raz, że beat nie idzie w parze z pojawiającymi się kolorami do wciśnięcia, dwa, że jak się już pojawiają to gra robi się chaotyczna i do tego działanie wszystkiego jest mało responsywne. Co doprowadza do tego, że jeśli jeszcze udało się ledwie przemęczyć pierwszy utwór, to już przy drugim nerwy i frustracja z tej góvvnianej rozgrywki odbiera jakakolwiek zabawę.
Nadzieje z rozgrywki były 10 na 10, rzeczywista rozgrywka w tym epileptycznym kasztanie to -1 na 10

Côté scénario ça va être très simple... Après que la sphère de la musique (Une "bouboule" qui influe la musique que l'on écoute) ait été volé dans un monastère, Lee (un disciple) est envoyé la récupérer...
Heureusement que Zen Studio ne fait pas dans le jeu narratif parce que je ne leur promet pas une grande carrière dans le style mais bon il s'agit d'un jeu de combat rythmique avant tout...

Concrètement, on joue dans une arène où vous êtes au milieu d'un cercle. Avec une manette seul les quatre boutons servent au gameplay... les ennemis suivent un parcours le long du cercle et attaque au rythme de la musique...

Sur le papier ça rend plutôt bien... En jeu c'est pas toujours aussi sympa que prévu...

Comme d'habitude avec ce genre de jeu, ne pas être épileptique est une condition primordiale d'autant plus avec ce jeu que Zen Studio a ajouté un "truc" supplémentaire qui est une caméra mouvante (Zoom avant arrière et de côté) qui en plus de gêner la lisibilité quand tout se déclenche en même temps (Lumières, mouvement et nombre d'ennemis) a tendance à être vomitive... C'est pas le truc le sympa à intégrer dans ce genre de jeu...

Les ennemis ont des couleurs différentes qui annoncent un temps d'attaque différent... Par exemple, les jaunes attaquent l'un après l'autre lentement tandis que les rouges attaquent par deux en mode normal et trois dans les difficultés supérieures. Et selon les musiques, les vagues sont plus ou moins intenses... Le bon moment est quand la touche de la manette affichée au sol s'illumine lorsque l'ennemi passe dessus mais c'est pas toujours évident avec les effets de lumière qui se chevauchent régulièrement.

Graphiquement, le jeu est propre en 3D... Les séquences entres les chapitres est en forme de dessins peints et partiellement animés... Les personnages sont longilignes (étirés) mais je dois avouer que perso ça me dérange pas plus que cela. Le doublage anglais est bon et le sous titrage français l'est tout autant.

A chaque fin de chapitre, vous aurez un "Boss" et il n'y a guère que le dernier qui m'a posé problème. On a droit à des tentacules virtuelles qui ont tendance à se chevaucher et si on tarde trop, on ne sait plus du tout lequel frapper en premier...

il y a aussi parfois un manque de lisibilité sur certains titres où les ennemis n'attaquent pas exactement avec le rythme de la chanson à certains moments et là aussi ça n'aide pas si on essaie de faire les coups en rythme.

Il faut signaler que le récit de Lee une fois fini débloque celui de Mei qui est la suite de l'histoire mais très peu fait par les joueurs à première vue. Je pense que c'est du au fait que les dev' réutilisent non seulement les décors mais aussi les musiques et une partie des dessins des cinématiques... A première vue ça sent le "poil dans la main" mais il y a bien une "narration" au final...

Côté bande son, on a droit à du POD, Rob Zombie (trop cool), Papa Roach, Celldweller et d'autres artistes et même si quelques titres sont plutôt de la "soupe" pour moi. On a quand même une bande son en générale qui dépote.

Parmi les modes de jeu en plus du mode "Story", on a un mode où l'on combat ses musiques ou un mode survie...

Zen Studios n'a pas inventé le jeu du siècle ni révolutionné le genre mais ça reste un titre plaisant à jouer en partie à cause des titres mais soyons clair, malgré que j'ai bien apprécié mon temps passé dedans, les effets de lumières plus la caméra qui bouge en permanence est parfois un peu dur à supporter... Du moins ça a été mon cas parfois ^^

I played the first four levels so I could try out "Beat Your Music." The edgelord soundtrack was silly but kind of fun at first, but having to play "The Beautiful People" three times because I didn't understand how the lasers worked should qualify me to seek damages against Marilyn Manson for being violated. In any case, Beat Your Music isn't that great a feature. You have to set the beat manually, and the notes don't tend to match well to the tune or the beat.

It's inoffensive, but very outdated, in both gameplay and aesthetics. Some of the fighting animations are cool, but you can do so much better as far as creative rhythm games go.

I'm not much of a rhythm game kinda guy but I like what KickBeat is doing here. I only wish that it did more. With only 24 tracks, there is little variation in genre. Not a bad selection by any means, I just was not expecting it to be mostly Hard Rock/NuMetal.
Visually it looks good, and has a lot going on screen. At first, this can be very challenging but overtime you ease into it. Probably just as entertaining to watch as it is to play. Story would fit right in the era of cartoons such as Jackie Chan Adventures, Xiaolin Showdown, and American Dragon - It was entertaining.
For some reason, the game does not want to cooperate with the Steam overlay. Not really a problem, just an obstacle to navigate around. This game is cheap, and worth the price, but It wouldn't hurt to wait for a sale. Pick it up when you get the chance.

This game has middling reviews on steam and looks awful, so I went in expecting a terribly synced and mappped rhythm game that didn't function. I am happy and honestly surprised to say that I was very wrong. The beginning is the worst part of the game and it actually only got better as I played it. KickBeat is a very interesting take on rhythm games, where instead of coming down a consistent line, enemies circle you in a fight as you time your inputs to counter them.

Honestly, this game lacks a lot of quality of life mechanics, and can sometimes be so visually cluttered that it's hard to see the which note is coming up next (including the fact that the three types of patterns are color coded but usually just blend into the COLORED FLOORS), but I have to say this has some of the best beat maps of all the rhythm games I've played, and I've played A LOT. It's weird to me that some of the negative reviews cite a lack of syncing -- it makes me wonder if they were playing on so low a difficulty that the map drops full notes. Regardless, the little bit of story is cute and cheesy and campy, and (when not actual in-game with the 3D models) the art style is very passable.

I'm shocked to say that I played through every song in this game, and had a fantastic time. It helps that almost all of the songs were early 2000s nu-rock (with Rob Zombie and Papa Roach making appearances lmao), which I am super into.

A really fun rhythm game but has a few instances of BS, like a dynamic camera (that you can turn off at least) that likes to occasionally zoom in and out really fast or brightly lit floor that obscures the queues or mechanics that aren't explained, some enemies that are hard to tell when they are in the zone, and some weird timing issues.

Its also not got the most amazing custom track support, but that's not weird for these kinds of games.

All in all fun though.

Rythme.

KickBeat est un jeu de rythme très simple à appréhender, puisqu'on incarne un avatar au centre d'une arène, avec des ennemis qui viennent vers nous 1 à 1 dans les 4 directions cardinales. Lorsqu'un ennemi est à porté, il suffit d'appuyer sur A, B, X ou Y (XBOX) afin de le péter. Un peu comme dans Assassin's Creed, oui. À faire en boucle jusqu'à la fin de la chanson, sans se planter pour faire augmenter son multiplicateur et donc son score, et quelques subtilités ici et là du genre appuyer 2x sur la touche quand l'ennemi possède un bonus au dessus de la tête, etc...

Niveau ambiance, on se retrouve dans un univers moderne dominé par la musique et les arts-martiaux. L'histoire est plutôt cool pour un jeu du genre, c'est même un des rares jeux dans lequel je me suis retrouvé à aimer les ambitions du grand méchant. Les combats sont entre-coupés par des cutscenes plutôt jolies et avec un certain humour, j'ai vraiment été surpris par ça. Bon, c'est pas non plus complètement fou, mais c'est plaisant à suivre. Lors des phases de jeu par contre, c'est plutôt moche. Mais c'est fluide et ça se laisse jouer, et c'est tout ce qu'on demande à un jeu du genre.

Maintenant, les musiques. Bon. C'est relativement mauvais. On commence le jeu dans un univers porté kung-fu, puis on nous balance du gros nu-metal 2ème vague 2000' (Papa Roach, POD, etc...), de l’électro Dub-Step ou encore du hip-hop/électro. Sur le coup ça m'a fait un peu grimacer, mais en fait ça fait bouger la tête, et c'est ça qui compte pour ne pas rater ses timings.

Le jeu possède 2 arcs au niveau scénar', avec 2 personnages différents, mais qui propose les même chansons, les même niveaux, les même patterns. Juste l'histoire change. J'ai fait le premier arc en "facile", puis le second en "normal", avec la meilleure note à chaque fois, et ça m'a pris 8h. Pas mal de retry, surtout en normal. Le jeu propose, pour les plus acharnés, 2 modes de difficulté supplémentaires, mais qui sont vraiment hors de ma porté sans saigner des mains. Beaucoup de contenu annexe aussi, genre un mode survie où on enchaine les chansons sans regagner de vie entre chacune, ou encore la possibilité d'intégrer des chansons présente sur notre disque-dur (j'ai essayé vite fait, c'était pas très concluant, mais j'avais choisi une musique très lente, pour voir).

Un jeu plutôt sympa donc, bourré de défauts mais qui permet de se faire une petite partie de rythme rapide sur PC quand on a 5mn à tuer.

Je suis mitigé, les playlists sont sympas, mais il y a un manque de clarté et de retour dans les combats.
Une vue de dessus aurait sûrement été plus lisible (mais ça aurait rendu les coups moins classes).
Les patterns sont quasiment toujours identiques, avec très peu de changement et ça ne colle pas toujours à musique

This is a fun little rhythm game done that is of about double A kinda quality the kind of double A that you'd see on the xbox live arcade era, a small team of 30-40 or so people so you know that it isn't gonna blow your mind or anything. What it does though it does well, and I was really surprised at its varied music selection, even having some big names like Rob Zombie and Papa Roach!

For the record before I give out judgements, I played through the story mode on hard difficulty as that was about match to my skill and was a mix of challenging and fun. Before I start too, I will make one request.. please make a borderless window mode!! Fullscreen really sucks when you have a two monitor (or more) setup. Why also is there only a manual offset setting, why not use what's already there with custom music's bpm calculator for setting your offset?

The story mode is about 24 tracks, played twice to go through as each character to experience the full story. I'd recommend pacing it out a little with a day long break or so that when you have to play through the songs again it doesn't feel too repetitive. You don't need to binge every game after all, and I enjoyed myself much better when I did take a break instead of feeling the need to grind through the latter half with the feeling of almost done beating the game.
Albeit it still is a little bit repetitive having to play through the songs again with only some variation coming in with the cutscenes.

The story.. I actually found rather enjoyable despite what others have said. By no means is it good per say, but their focus definitely wasn't in telling a gripping tale. It revels in its cheesiness, and it's just honestly fun. There was a few really goofy moments that caught me so off guard that I giggled.

When you can get into the flow of the song and get really good, it's also feels very satisfying. You really do feel like a badass kung-fo movie protag when you really start kicking ass, it's very visceral and satisfying to fend off such a huge crowd of mooks. The hit sounds are punchy, and it sounds good when you are hitting on beat.

I think my main issue with the game is.. man, the system of getting bonuses just sucks. Flat out, that is unpleasant. Having to double tap a button that isn't always to a beat and it doesn't have any sound indicator that you hit on any beat just really breaks the flow going on especially on the blue faster enemies where it feels even more awkward as you pretty much have to double tap between beats and quickly hit the next. When it gives a lot of the bonuses in a row it can legitimately feel fatiguing on the hands too, some levels have more than half the enemies have at least the 500 point bonus ones and often grouped up together. I found more enjoyment in the game in sections where it didn't have any bonuses to collect, like the helicopter boss was my favorite level for that reason and I saw it in the more fun parts of the song 'I Can't Wait' and etc. was when I could focus on the flow and there was very little powerups to collect. There was also some parts where the powerups made sense to the beat though, like it was decently done in 'Last Resort', although I think it'd feel so much better if it was less yellow enemies with powerups but more so just two blue enemies clustered rather close.

This issue is honestly at its worse with the boss. Aggravated also by the tentacles feeling weird to hit, I am not sure if I am just not getting the beat right or if there is some change to timing and making me hit off beat but I struggled a lot with that boss and it wasn't from me feeling overloaded. The whole gimmick of it with the damaging powerups just make things all the worse, as the already unpleasant and flow breaking hits are now necessary.

I'd honestly love a mod that would just auto collect the bonuses for me, detecting them and auto doubling my input. It'd actually let me enjoy the game a ton.

If there ever is a second, or hell even this game but redone just a little I'd hope that the bonus system is either removed or heavily reworked. Like honestly I think it'd be so much better that instead of a double tap, it is something like you only collect the powerup if you hit that respective note at a great or higher timing. Removing the 500 point bonus and making the other ones a little more rare (You could even put in the occasional point bonus, but a higher point bonus to balance the sparser powerups)
Make the final boss more engaging with something like a slow health drain (Because he doesn't play fair, cheating in his own simulation) and you have to hit trickier notes that have health restores. Balancing so it doesn't require perfection, and you could miss a few health restores but still be able to manage to recover so it can reach a tenseness instead of frustration of "Oh I just missed this one note now I am dead"

Another feature that might be nice would be the ability to make charts for this game and upload it via Steam Workshop functionality. It's something more rhythm games should have, as it will extend a game's lifespan quite a bit more. The automated play your own tunes thing is a nice idea, but full automation of that is rough. It only looks at the BPM of a song, but it doesn't have anything else like telling the intensity of the track and reacting accordingly with the enemy placements.

Anyways, I enjoyed the game though. Just if you get this expect a game that's rather rough around the edges.

这游戏大概已经被遗忘了吧。记得当年资金有限，每天最大乐趣之一就是在游民星空或是3大妈上翻翻有没有什么新出的游戏，看到感兴趣的就到处找找学习版资源。有一天正好看到这游戏，那时又很喜欢音游，于是立即找了个资源下载下来开玩，如今依稀还记得主要的玩法和大概的情节，游戏挺炫酷的，印象比较深的一是主角在某个boss关可以一脚踢飞一枚导弹，另外就是游戏里有几首EnV作曲的电音真心好听（尤其那首Bloom），以致于现在都还在我播放列表里。前几天又偶然想起这游戏，但是已经记不起名字，费了好大劲才搜索出来，遂补个票，怀念一下一去不返的那几年，玩了一小会，反应跟手速终究是不如当年了哈哈。

I recommend this game to anyone who is really good at and loves button driven rhythm games. In some ways it is simpler than 2D rhythm battler games, and in other ways it is more complex. Here is what you need to know:
+Multiple modes open up after playing more of the story, including being able to play your own music, though...
-The controls for picking music are weak and I don't recall any auto BPM features, so expect to do some manual beat training of the game before actually playing the song in game.
?Story progression switches from one character to another, but I could only get to the final stage of the first character.
-The rhythm curve between the easiest and second easiest difficulty was too steep, but...
+There is a helpful button underlay for enemies that can be enabled on any difficulty but will nerf score by 20%.
?It is unique in how it has more story than any other rhythm game I have played, but the story was somewhat weak and not interesting.
+The controls are decent, consist of attacking in 4 directions, triggering a zen powerup/multiplier, and double tapping to get whatever is above an enemy's head.
?The level and attack variety is a mixed bag. Aside from perhaps bosses, most levels get their variety from the songs' beats and not enemy variety. As a result...
-Even if I could complete the first character's story, I don't know that I'd be motivated to play the second character's story for very long.

This is one of my favourite rhythm games! I played it for a long time on PS3 and now I finally found out that the Steam version is even better. It's one of the most polished rhythm games I know - from the animations, over the many unlockables, modes and the fleshed out story with cutscenes. While the humour in the story mode is not really my type (it feels sometimes like the Orcs Must Die games) it didn't stop me from enjoying it and being impressed by the production values. The rhythm system takes a bit to learn, but it's quite good! :)

В начале игра может показаться очень сложной даже на нормальном уровне сложности, но как не смешно звучало в игре про ритм нужно привыкнуть к ритму игры.

На первых этапах для победы приходилось только концентрироваться на загорающих кнопка и не видел как, кого бью, а дальше набив руку уже замечаешь, что есть противники из которых выпадают аптечка, щит, Чи (для мощного удара).В дальнейшем уже успеваешь прожать энергию для увеличения комбо и удар чи.

Помимо того, что и так надо попадать в ритм в игре может постоянно крутиться камера, менять ракурсы, а арена переливается миллионом цветов, что по началу с непривычки сильно отвлекает. В битве с одним из боссов происходят катсцены когда по нему проходит урон, что так неплохо сбивает с ритма.

По ощущениям есть моменты не связанные ритмом и тактом. Ты входишь в состояния потока отбиваешь все удары и тут моб медленно подходит под удар из-за чего рано наносишь удар после чего следует наказание из серии ударов. Эти моменты достаточно часто встречаются и уже ориентируешься не по музыке, а по индикаторам.

Музыка достаточно разнообразна танцевальная, хип-хоп и конечно много рок композиции от Papa Roach, POD, Merln Menson, Rob Zombie. Надеюсь у разработчиков не было проблем с авторским правом. Есть возможность добавить свой треки и биться под них.

Режим выживания на мой взгляд очень суров к игроку и ты не можешь выбрать уровень сложности. Такое ощущение там сразу стоит сложность "Мастер".

[b] Игра прекрасно справляется со своей задачей скоротать пару вечеров за игрой, но большой вклад в эту игру делает именно классная музыка, а не сам геймплей.

Macht richtig Laune! Habe mit solchen Spielen an sich nicht viel am Hut, was dann auch die Motivation gab, es anhand dieses günstigen Spiels mal auszuprobieren. Und dass Interpreten wie Marylin Manson und Celldweller dabei sind, macht es noch erfreulicher. Aber auch die anderen Songs sind gut bis sehr gut, gab einige positive Überraschungen für mich. Das Tutorial führt einen gut in die Mechanik ein, die schnell verstanden ist, und dann: Boxen aufdrehen, zurücklehnen und Gamepad bearbeiten. Für nen Zehner Top!

KickBeat is a console ported rhythm/quicktime events game where you must hit the right controls in time with the prompts. Unlike Guitar Hero, instead of being in a band, you're doing martial arts. But it's still music themed. Make sense? No? I agree with you.

If you think the concept here is pretty good, wait until you see a game called Street Fighter from 1987. You get to do kung fu fighting but you actually control the moves! I think Capcom might be onto something there, so keep an eye on that one. Back to KickBeat, this just doesn't work well as a concept.

The game is also soundtrack heavy, which shows the developers haven't yet worked out that gamers can listen to Spotify for free. So charging people money to listen to songs on Steam is a deeply flawed business model.

PC gamers will be immediately offended by the console peasant childrens toy gamepad prompts. Also, while the game supports 4K resolution, the developers screwed up the display scaling so the mouse pointer only works in the top left corner of the screen, making the menus impossible to navigate. The only saving grace here is that the graphics are pretty good. But great graphics can't save a mediocre game.

I feel a bit sorry for the artists but I'm pretty sure they're pros and went on to better games.

The single calibration setting snaps to huge increments, which means getting the timing just right isn't even possible on many setups, mine included. For a "rhythm" game, this seems like a capital crime.
I played the tutorial and the first couple levels on a couple difficulties, and it's just guessing how far before or after the actual beat I'm supposed to be hitting the button. The complete lack of even a single sound effect takes away from the experience as well, combined with the poor timing it feels more like I'm just watching a silent kung fu movie with some just-OK music I've never heard of playing over it, that seems to almost be reacting to my controller input but maybe it's just randomly doing that who knows

Despite its many faults, KickBeat is an okay rhythm game. Players who dropped the game too quickly can be forgiven because the developers made some very odd choices when it came to designing the user interface that make the game instantly frustrating and confusing. It also forces you to listen to songs by P.O.D., Papa Roach, Celldweller, and various other "artists" you may be familiar with from your drive past the trailer park. There is an option to use your own music, but rather than just picking a directory from your computer and playing, it's something more akin to designing your own level. Still, KickBeat's learning curve can be overcome, and you can get used to it, become good at it, and have a little bit of fun with it.

Вообще не понравилось от слова совсем. Ещё и шильдиками наградными с Е3 хвастаются в номинации лучшая ритм игра. Издеваются. Беда в этой игре с ритмом, взаимосвязи болванов идущих на хератиста и музыки не хватает. Попробуй отбивать под ритм звука не озираясь на загорающиеся кнопки, запинают хератиста.
По музыке - не мой это стиль, предпочёл бы. что нибудь танцевальное, электронное, да и как по мне, композиции имхо для меня уже устаревшие, ещё в прошлом десятилетии их слушал, но сейчас не хочется.
Сам геймплей, он странный. Авторы намутили единоборства на отбивание клавиш, Но эти его удары быстро приедаются, Никакой силы удара и его мощи в них не чувствуется. Болваны однотипные с одинаковым видом атаки. Окружение одинаковое. Сюжет убогий, за ним следить не интересно от слова совсем, подаётся картинками.
Игра на час и выкинуть на помойку. Хуже ритм игру сделать надо постараться. Играть что бы выполнять ачивки тоже не хочется, да и по статистике никто этого не делал, большинство не выполненных. В игре этой никто надолго не задерживался и даже прошли её игроков очень мало, а повторно за тёлку ещё в 10 раз меньше.

Исполнение хорошее, но, к сожалению, потенциал выжимать не стали.
Вся игра - продавливание четырёх кнопок направления, иногда активируя берсерк пятой. Увы, больше тут ничего не происходит по факту - меняются модельки, окружение, спрайты, но геймплей стагнирует.
Ещё сильнее режешься об углы халтуры - враги однообразные, бонусы мнимые (эффекта вообще не ощущаешь, пользы от них - минимум), а "двойной сюжет" просто клоунский. Нет, ну это ж надо додуматься: "Пройди те же самые уровни, но за другую модельку персонажа, чтобы посмотреть новые мультики". Нормально сэкономили бюджет, конечно!

Саундтрек - вполне сносный в целом. Есть как хиты, так и ноунеймы. Причём по какой-то причине упор треклиста в рок, а классическая "электронка" какая-то мусорная, просто долбёжка ни о чём.

Попытки скормить свои треки в местный автоген - как и положено, увенчаются неприятным результатом. Ну нельзя машине отдавать на растерзание песню, дабы она сама сформировала чарт - нет в ней того таланта, коим сейчас обладает только человек...

Да и к основному геймплею есть претензии - этот "водоворот" врагов читать труднее, чем кажется. В паре с нелогичностью авторского чарта может и вовсе разочаровать. Как, например, абсолютно поганый последний босс, который эти щупальца как пожелает раскидывает, да ещё и с новой, доселе не объясняемой механикой тёмных сфер. Схватка с ним будет в формате визуального чтения, а не музыкального, как полагается в ритм-играх.

Всё, чем опасны высокие уровни сложности - нет хилок. Всё. Если чарт, опять же, визуально нормально не читается, а песня длинная, то кранты. Причём в автоген треках аптечек нет вообще ни на каком режиме, так что свой любимый шестиминутный трек я оседлал на средней сложности, где бредового разброса в чарте меньше...

Сюжет - для галочки. Хех.

Игра 100% "на один вечерок". В ней не хочется задерживаться, трайхардить на высоких сложностях, но при этом разок пробежаться по довольно годному треклисту вполне сойдёт.

This is a great rythm game, one of the best ones I've played. Most of the song aren't really well-known but they are amazing and honestly many of them are among my favourites. It is quite challenging and it takes a while to get good at it but it is real fun once you get there. There are some game mechanics that I don't like and I feel that they are quite unfair, but you won't notice them until you get to the really advanced part so it's not that bad. In general I love this game and I definitelly recomend it

I originally played this long ago as a digital download on PS. I didn't care for it at first because, well, the music isn't what i expected of a rhythm game. Also, the story...... just ignore it imo.

But boy if you like the music this game has, it's extremely fun. So catchy, this is a game I can just pick up at any time and play, and personally I never get tired of it.

This version has some EDM tracks added that are nice, but kinda don't fit the rest of the game? Still nice to play new tracks. Most of the rest is rock/metal, something different in the rhythm game genre, and kinda appealing to a smaller crowd, but I love it.

I liked the idea and concept, not so much the execution. The very first solo mission comes at you full-tilt. There is too much going on and the constant panning for close-ups on the character throw off your groove constantly. The concept is interesting, the visuals are okay, but for a game which depends on you being able to see and hear and hit buttons at the right time.. it was overwhelming. Also, the whole ancient mystery of some Eastern Religion thing is done to death.

Haaaaa kick beat ... comment foirer un jeu qui aurait pû être sympathique si il avait été confié à autre chose qu'une équipe de branques.

Où commencer pour bien critiquer ... tiens, deux points qui sautent aux yeux d'entrée de jeu:
-le jeu est horrible à regarder: la direction artistique laisse à penser qu'il y'a un bug d'affichage avec ses personnages ultra longilignes. La première fois que j'ai regardé je me sus dit qu'il y'avait un souci: un personnage maigrelet qui doit peser 20 kilos et qui mesure deux mètres ... un souci de perspective qui est une illusion d'optique peut être ? Ou encore un souci avec les drivers AMD ?

Mais en fait dès que les premiers ennemis déboulent la constatation te frappe comme un right cross de mike tyson: ce n'est pas un bug, c'est une aberration artistique qui veut se faire passer un style. Partant de là, il est plus qu'impossible d'avoir une certaine empathie pour le "héros" (le fil de fer coloré plutôt) ... mais ce n'est pas le pire.

-le jeu est horrible à suivre: l'écriture du jeu est assez hallucinante puisque c'est un principe comique (le kung fu de la musique qui protège le monde, un truc dans le genre) qui est pris au premier degré ... oui oui, se retrouver à taper sur des ennemis qui te tournent autour pour que tu sauves la musique des méchants capitalistes c'est quelque chose de très sérieux, t'as intérêt à pleurer comme devant "la rafle" sinon tu n'es qu'un nazi. Et ça, c'est sans parler du voice acting pendant les cut scènes qui se classe parmi les plus insupportables que j'ai entendu (je n'en ai regardé aucune entièrement).

Le premier constat après la prise en main est clair: ce jeu va se jauger sur son gameplay (heureusement) ... et c'est par là qu'il tombera (malheureusement).

Kick beat est donc un "rythm game", un jeu dont la musique est le centre d'intérêt: il faut interagir en rythme avec la musique. Kick beat ajoute à ce vieux principe (très rigolo, je suis un mordu du genre même si je ne joue qu'à peu de jeux dudit genre) de la baston: au lieu d'avoir des flashs stroboscopiques pour illustrer ta réussite rythmique tu vas taper des méchants qui te tournent autour. Il y'a 4 directions dans lesquelles taper (haut, bas, droite et gauche), chaque coup devant se donner en rythme, ce qui donne un trip de "chorégraphie shaw brotheresque" (ou jackie chanesque ... bref, chacun son préféré). Et c'est très rigolo pendant la première moitié de l'histoire en mode normal. Après c'est de la merde en branche en rouleau de douze par pack de de six !

Faisons les choses dans l'ordre: le mode histoire va crescendo dans sa difficulté, les premières chansons sont très rythmées et le tempo est plutôt bien respecté. De fait taper en rythme est très simple, il n'y a pas presque pas besoin de regarder l'écran (signe d'un bon jeu de rythme, tu joues avec tes oreilles et non tes yeux).

Seulement à partir de la deuxième moitié les chansons sont ... non, le problème ne vient pas QUE des chansons: balancer des chansons arythmiques est déjà une aberration de game design pour un jeu de rythme, mais EN PLUS complètement désynchroniser le tempo des coups fini d'achever le peu de fun que tu peux avoir. En plus, pour la version PC/Steam, nous avons droit à 6 chansons de plus par rapport aux consoles parait il. Le gigantesque problème c'est que ce sont des musiques qui n'ont rien à foutre là: elles sont toutes chaotiques/sans rythme clair ! Même si je dois reconnaitre que le pire vient d'un rap asiatique (pas sûr, je comprends rien à ce qu'il dit) réellement arythmique (désolé mais un type qui cause à 200 mots par minute pendant que le beat balance du ratatatatatatatatatatatatatatat ... c'est à la limite de la noise ce truc) ces musiques sont un ajout dont il fallait incontestablement se passer.

Mais le pire n'est pas là ... car oui, faire pire qu'un jeu de rythme qui ne respecte pas le rythme des ses musiques (qui n'en ont pas pour certaines) devait être une mission.

Le jeu propose un système de bonus: certains ennemis ont un petit symbole au dessus de la tête (des points, de la vie, du mana, un bonus multiplicateur ...) qu'il faut ramasser en ... double tapant. Donc voilà l'équation d'une autre aberration de game design: un tempo de type "et un, et deux, et trois" devrait donner un jeu où tu appuies comme tel => tap - tap - tap. Sauf qu'avec ce système débile (car oui, là c'est même de la consanguinité un tel niveau de connerie) ce tempo devient taptap-taptap-taptap ... pour ramasser des bonus tu ne tapes plus en rythme avec le jeu ! Ne pas taper en rythme dans un jeu de rythme pour gagner plus de points ! Mais sérieusement, quel est le con qui a eu cette idée de merde ?

Mais ce n'est pas tout (et oui, ils ont fait très fort): le jeu propose un système de score (normal) basé sur la réussite. Tu enchaines plusieurs coups d'affilée et tu as un bonus (*2, *3 et caetera). Mais si tu rates un double tap pour ramasser un bonus, ça compte comme un "miss" (raté) et ton bonus tu peux te le coller profond. Et le bonheur de tout ça c'est que pour les niveaux de difficultés supérieures tu es OBLIGÉ de prendre les bonus pour gagner les étoiles (j'y reviens plus tard), donc tu es OBLIGÉ de ne pas jouer en rythme dans ce jeu de rythme pour gagner ! C'est y pas magnifique ? \o/

Mais attends camarade, y'a encore plus con, et la preuve que les devs n'ont pas joué à leur jeu avant de le sortir.

Taper dans une seule direction n'est pas très dur, donc il y'a certains moments où tu dois taper dans deux directions à la fois. Bon, en jouant au pad tu sais que c'est foireux comme trip (appuyer sur deux boutons à la fois est foireux depuis la NES donc bon ... ), mais ce n'est pas le pire, car ça ce n'est que le niveau normal. En difficulté plus élevée ce n'est plus deux mais TROIS boutons à appuyer en même temps (oui, les devs n'ont jamais touché un jeu de leurs vies pour pondre une idée pareille, mais bref). Et là tu dois te dire "bha c'est pas grave, je vais jouer au clavier vu que je suis sur PC, ça ira tout seul" ...

Et c'est là que tu vois que les devs n'ont pas touché au jeu avant de le sortir car, comme tout le monde le sait, appuyer sur plusieurs touches en même temps sur un clavier n'est pas signe que toutes les touches vont être prises en compte. Ce qui fait donc que le jeu était simplement impossible à faire au clavier en difficulté supérieure vu que pour appuyer sur trois touches en même temps sur un clavier tu dois ... avoir un clavier qui prend ça en compte (ce qui est bien sûr la première chose que demandes quand tu achètes un clavier). Si je dis "était" c'est que quand le souci est remonté jusqu'aux devs ils ont corrigé le problème: ils ont inclus un message disant "ce n'est pas possible d'appuyer sur trois touches en même temps avec certains claviers, merci de vous démerder autrement".

C'est pas génial comme foutage de gueule ça ? :D

Bref, le gameplay du jeu est à chier à partir de la deuxième moitié de l'histoire en mode normal, donc c'est un jeu foiré.

Pour revenir sur les étoiles dont je causais plus haut, il y'a un système d'unlock assez chiant (exaspérant ? Frustrant ? Les mots me manquent): chaque chanson du mode histoire permet de débloquer des étoiles selon les points que tu fais (rappelons nous, pour faire de gros scores dans ce jeu de rythme il faut NE PAS JOUER EN RYTHME). Ces étoiles débloquent automatiquement certaines choses: des costumes et des modes de jeu.

Il y'a le mode survival, qui est une purge: comme il s'agit de survivre le plus longtemps possible, le rythme n'est absolument pas pris en compte, donc c'est à se tirer des balles en 5 secondes, ça n'a rien de drôle de regarder les indications à l'écran en ignorant la musique dans un jeu de rythme.

Le plus intéressant est le mode custom: tu joues avec TA musique. Ça aurait dû être intéressant mais ça ne l'est pas: le système de reconnaissance automatique du rythme est foireux. Oubliez donc le bonheur de jouer avec votre musique.

One of the most fun rhythm games that I've ever played.

Pros:
- Fun, addicting gameplay. Like most rhythm games, the gameplay is literally the only thing you can judge. The scraps of story are wholly irrelevant in the long run.
- Great song selection. I love every song that's in this game and it all fits the aesthetic of the game.

Cons:
- While the songs themselves are great, there are not very many of them in the game. 24 in total.
- You can choose to import your own music into the game, but the system that the game uses to game-ify the custom songs is weak, so it never feels like you're playing an official song.

huge fan of rhythm games and ive been waiting to play this one for ages. I really loved the idea of fighting off enemies to the beat of music and as a bonus you can use your own music. To bad it doesnt work at all and is way off beat. Tutorial super easy and everything is on the beat, then you get into the real levels. lost on the first two levels more than 8 times on easy and found that muting the game makes it much easier but kills the entire point of the game 3/10

[b]KickBeat[/b] ist ein Spiel, bei dem es darum geht einer Musik zu folgen und im richtigen Moment entsprechende Tasten zu drücken. Man kennt diese Art von Spielen schon von Guitar Hero und Rock Band, sowie auch von einigen anderen Ablegern, die sich an diesem Prinzip versucht haben. Hier spielt man allerdings nicht mit einem Instrument, was zusätzlich angeschafft werden muss - es reicht dafür die heimische Tastatur oder ein Controller.

Das Spiel animiert verschiedene Sequenzen innerhalb eines Story-Ablaufes, bei dem euer Charakter im Mittelpunkt einer Arena steht. Von außen nähern sich im Takt der Musik dann verschiedene Gegnertruppen, die dann mit einem Kampfmove geschlagen werden. Wie man schlägt, durch Tastendruck im richtigen Moment, also im Takt der Musik. Songs können aber auch außerhalb der Story gespielt werden, sobald sie einmal in der Geschichte gemeistert wurden.

Das Spiel bietet zudem die Möglichkeit eigene Musik einzulesen und ins Spiel zu bringen. Da man hier den Takt und die Einsätze selbst setzen muss, ist das aus meiner Sicht etwas mühselig. Ich habe es zwar mal versucht, habe es dann aber schnell wieder aufgegeben - so wichtig war es mir dann nicht.

Das Spiel ist ein ganz netter Zeitvertreib, jedoch hat es nach einmaligem Durchspielen keinen wirklichen Wiederspielwert. Es bringt zum Teil ganz nette und für den ein oder anderen auch bekannte Stücke mit - die wohl bekanntesten Songs dürften dabei von Papa Roach und Marilyn Manson stammen. Wer hier auf Popmusik oder Schlager hofft, kann sich direkt umorientieren - denn hier wird sprichwörtlich der Beat gekickt.

Wer Rhythmus-Spiele mag und ein Spiel für zwischendurch sucht, der kann hier bedenkenlos zugreifen.

Un juego curioso y que no me ha decepcionado. Lo compré porque tenía mono de un juego musical y este aúna lo musical con artes marciales (un tanto light, pero cumple). Es muy divertido golpear enemigos al ritmo de la música. Lo único malo que le voy a resaltar es que en varios niveles, por la iluminación del propio escenario es difícil identificar si el enemigo es rojo, azul o amarillo... y si no lo reconoces rápido, muchas veces acaba en fallo por tu parte. Está bastante bien y tiene un modo que permite jugar con tu propia música... aun no lo he probado, pero solo tenerlo ya es un punto positivo para el juego.

En tout cas j'aime bien l'incarnation d'un combattant qui envoie au tapis en rythme ses ennemis :)

The game has a few glaring issues, one of the pervasive themes being that it sacrifices engaging the user for theatrics. The songs are frequently interrupted by 1 of 7 little cinematic attacks to give the player a little break. The levels visuals supercede the enemies (this is especially an issue with the first stage as the bright red glowing background overlaps the enemies, making it more difficult to discern between a blue and a red unit, as they look the same at that point aside from minor visual details, and sadly this is a running theme for the rest of the game.)

Understand, the issue doesn't come from the selection of songs, nor the hitting of the notes, rather, the scoring system itself, the issue is the bonuses, and how you're meant to obtain them. When an enemy has an item above their head, you hit the same direction a 2nd time, which immediately ♥♥♥♥♥ with the Rythm in this Rythm game. This wouldn't be an issue, if missing the bonus didn't also kill your combo multiplier meaning the games difficulty spikes in the sense that you're meant to be double-tapping 80% of the notes. Not to mention these bonuses are thrown around with no rhyme or reason.

Alguns dos motivos pelos quais não gostei do jogo
1. O momento de apertar os botões não é sincronizado com as músicas (com exceção de algumas partes de algumas músicas, mas 90% do tempo a música é só um som de fundo, que mais atrapalha do que ajuda)
2. A mecânica de apertar dois botões ao mesmo tempo se confunde com uma sequência rápida então é bem difícil distinguir
3. Algumas vez os inimigos são jogados contra a tela impedindo de ver qual é o próximo botão a ser acionado
4. Não existe nenhuma relação dos movimentos do personagem com a música que se está tocando

I really liked the game by the first sight. I really wanted to like it even after I bought it and played a few fights. But I can't...

KickBeat is a quite good-looking mixture of rhythm and beat'em up genres. In fact, even now, at the very beginning of the year 2019, you can't call rhythm/beat'em up mix project with better visuals, than we had in KickBeat in 2015. However... it's not so well both in rhythm and kicking butts.

There goes my downvote:

- first of all, let's talk about music. The game holds 24 tracks: some electromusic, some new wave rock and some rap. The player can add other music into freeplay, but have to unlock that option first. And no, you can't skip the tracks, mix them, line them in another order or anything. You have to beat them right one after another, even if you don't like the particular vibe... Get me right: some of the tracks of this game is in my own personal playlist. However, I, for instance, can't really stand the dubstep. While someone else wouldn't like some rock music track - the game cares not about it.

- so yeah, no matter how do you like the one particular song, you have to cut through it, and there goes another trouble: the rhythm don't actually fits! The main 24 tracks, with the various amount of enemies depending from the difficulty, supposed to be right in time with the tunes. But they are not! If you'll try to follow the music and do some action based on the tune, like in some other rhythm games - you'll be squared quite quickly! So you actually need to follow the visuals, while the sound goes after that. You may not notice the problem on the first few levels on the normal difficulty... but farther you go, more obvious that problem with non-sync tunes will be. And yeah, of course, if the devs couldn't made the proper timings with the given tracks, guess how well the game will treat the downloaded tracks? Yeah, far from perfect, to say the least.

- the visuals. I said they are good, and they are. But, every song is 2-4 minutes long, that means 120-240 enemies per level (sometimes more), and the moves we gonna perform are quite limited. 4 kicks, and about 20 variations of it, and that's all. You'll see them all in one level 4-5 times at least, and be bored about them 4-5 tracks after. With the rise of difficulty and number of enemies on the level, you'll be quite bored by constant dissemination of those enemies, to the point of actual harm to the eyesight.

- You can't follow the rhythm, and the visuals aren't clear with what to expect next... but even more in addition to illogical and confusing solutions goes for the bonuses! Some enemies on the level will be carrying some surplus which you're supposed to catch by hitting the same button after the kick for a second time. Believe me, it is really knocks the pace of the game even more.

I think that's enough by now to make a conclusion: KickBeat is a rhythm game without rhythm and fighting game without actual feeling of the fight, since you can't call the shots and only performing super-long QTE all game long. Without any proper reward. Therefore, my mark is 5/10 (and it's that high only thanks to visuals and Some of the music in the game). However, I can't actually recommend KickBeat to anyone, since it's broken in the way that can't be fixed.

KickBeat is something I found in a steam discussion sharing games that could be music driven, as it was currently 80% off; I had to give it a try!

The first thing that is worth noting is that this game seems primarily a single player campaign game with a set playlist of songs, which chapter by chapter go through a story.
I was only interested in this game for the additional feature of being able to import your own local music files once you have gotten past the first chapter of the campaign (which is the first four levels). For that reason, this review will be a little partial. I can’t say that I’m giving this a full review, as I basically played an extra feature, and not the main game.

With that said, the part of the campaign that I did play was fun. You play as a young martial artist, who is trying to protect “the sphere”, the magical entity of which all music is held, from the bad guys. You smack up your enemies to the beat of music, and the tracks seemed fast-paced but varied.
It also seemed as if this game had a comedic element to it. It actually seems fun, and maybe at some point I’ll play through the campaign entirely.

The part I actually wanted to play though, the “beat your music” feature, was actually quite interesting. As far as the genre goes, this is something a bit different. I was hoping you didn’t have to get too far in the campaign to unlock the feature, and you didn’t, which was good. The four levels you need to play to unlock it acted as a decent practice time to get used to the game.

You direct the game to your locally stored music files, and it comes up with a little interface which helps create your custom level. At first glance I was a little worried, as it asks you for the beats per minute and the beat start for your song. That’s not something I imagine people generally know, so I worried it was going to be a problem.
Thankfully, there is an option to start the “BPM calculator”. The game will play you sections of the song, and you can tap the beat in to help it get an idea of how to calculate the song. I did it several times, with various different types of songs, and it seemed to work pretty well for me.
I tried both tapping the beat of the bass line, and tapping along to the vocals, and both seemed to come out with decent levels. Once the level is created, it’s stored and you can play it whenever you like. If you mess up the rhythm, and it’s a little off, you can even go back and edit already made songs, to try and fine tune the level.

Once your level is made, you can choose your difficulty, and customise your environment, character and outfit assumingly to ones you have unlocked.

As a music driven game, it’s pretty alright. I wouldn’t say it’s the best, but it’s definitely a bit different and a bit of fun. Of course, it’s not meant to be a music driven game, so it’s understandable that this “additional feature” is only alright.
The main game is where the attraction is, and it seems like a fun game.

All in all I think it’s worth a go! If you’re only into the music driven bit like I am, definitely buy this when it’s on sale. Otherwise, if you think the main campaign looks like something you’d play, straight up give it a go. It’s a fun little rhythm game with a martial arts and music based story line and a quirky humour.

TL;DR : I played it for the “beat your music” additional feature, which is fun, but you should really be buying it for the main game which is a single player story campaign. A fun little story plays out as you beat people up to a set playlist of music.
The “beat your music” feature is pretty easy to use, and you can create a whole collection of levels using your favourite songs.

GTX1070, and this game still runs at 20fps before crashing.

EDIT: I was able to fix this issue and make it run on my dedicated GPU. Made the game run better, but the game itself is just not that great as a rhythm game.
