Going back to the first Just Cause after playing Just Cause 3 is a very different experience.
The game is definitely old, and out of all entries, this one feels the most dated. But at the same time, you can clearly see how different things were at the start.

There’s no native controller support here.
But thanks to Steam Input, you can just apply a community layout and it works well enough. No need for third-party tools, which makes it easy to set up.

This is where the game feels the most basic compared to newer titles.
The grapple hook:
- Mostly works with vehicles
- Used for hijacking and pulling yourself in
- Very limited compared to later games
There’s no wingsuit, only a parachute.
You can jump out of moving vehicles, gain speed, and then deploy the parachute, which is still fun in its own way.

Ось моя ГТА дитинства) Єдина гра в яку я загрався до дир (не пройшовши її повмістю до речі) та якщо б у мене був стім тоді то в мене точно в ній був не одна тисяча часів. Про сюжет нічого не скажу, бо він дуже короткий та примітивний (хоча фінальна місія непогана). Але головний плюс цієї гри - атмосфера, вона просто perfect, дуже чудово передано латиноамериканської країни. Іноді ти летиш кудась і просто любуєся красотой карти (вона до речі сама найбільша, якщо порівнювати з іграми того часу), але на жаль на ній нема тупо щось робити. Всякі необов'язкові квести це баян по типу "принеси подай, замочи того козла, іди в сраку не мішай". Ще є один козир в неї - музика. Музика просто чудова для такой гри (хоть вже і під кінець гри одна і та сама музика може набриднути). Не знаю чому, але мені подобається управління транспортом, а управління повітряного транспорту зроблено чудово (порівняно з ГТА Сан Андреас).
Короче кажучи, якщо ти колись дуже давно грав в неї то - це чудова нагода окунути в спогади. Іншим я не рекомендую цю гру, бо вона вам буде дуже нудна. Цій грі потрібен ремейк, який переробе все і зробе її по типу як Just Cause 2 чи 3.
З ностальгією оцінка 8/10, а без неї 5/10.

I really wanted to play this game but it completely lacks controller support making steam input feel clumsy and unresponsive from my experience. I am stuck trying to modify controls in the menu to get input to feel right for example why is the driving set to forward with joystick and not triggers.
Not only is there no controller support but you can not manually save. You must liberate a city or complete a mission which does not make any sense. This means that if you die during a mission you restart from your last save, having to walk all the way to the new mission and replay it. For side missions they don't save at all!
This is frustrating but guess nothing will be done.

Just Cause — это игра, с которой началась история Рико Родригеса и безумных трюков на тросе-кошке. Спустя столько лет она всё ещё способна подарить те самые эмоции «боевика категории Б», где логика отступает перед взрывами.
Плюсы:
Огромный открытый мир: Для 2006 года остров Сан-Эсперито выглядит впечатляюще.
Трюки и каскадерство: Прыжки с самолета на машину и использование парашюта в любой момент — это база серии, которая до сих пор работает.
Атмосфера: Дух тропической революции и латиноамериканский колорит переданы отлично.
Ностальгия: Если вы хотите увидеть, как зарождались механики, ставшие культовыми в последующих частях.
Минусы:
Управление: К нему нужно привыкнуть, физика транспорта порой ведет себя непредсказуемо.
Техническое состояние: На современных системах могут быть баги, требующие фиксов или небольших «танцев с бубном».
Итог:
Несмотря на возраст, игра стоит того, чтобы провести в ней пару десятков часов. Это чистый, незамутненный экшен, который не пытается казаться чем-то большим, чем веселое безумие. 19 часов пролетели незаметно!

メインミッションは全クリアしましたが、
最終ミッションの難易度が鬼畜過ぎて普通にやるのは本当に心折れる可能性あるので、1-2時間以上詰んだら攻略動画を参考した方がいいです。
このゲームの一番恐ろしいどころは”敵の無限沸き”です。
Rico is so suave
I do like this game, but I cannot recommend it at all.
There are too many quality of life features missing that make playing this game a slog. You can only save after completing a main mission, or by going to a liberated base and manually saving. You cannot save anywhere else.
You can easily wind up on a part of the map very far from any roads or camps and you will have to walk to civilization again. There is no fast travel system. In fact, the map/mini map are fairly useless. You can see where things are but nothing is named and you can't use the mouse to highlight anything, look at a name, set a waypoint, or any other feature you would expect a video game map to have. Getting around the map is simply tedious. If there was a waypoint system where you could have a pointer in the general direction of where to go it might be better. Instead you can spin around in circles trying to figure out which direction you should move in to get where you want to go.
As big and interesting as the map is, there is zero reason to explore. The game marks everything for you from the get go so there are parts of the map you will never have to go to because there is nothing there to see or find. The lack of navigational tools makes it even less desirable to run around.
If you do decide to play the game and the archaic design choices aren't an immediate turn off then I can say that it is actually a pretty fun game. It works right out of the box. The controls are solid. The gunplay is pretty good. Driving is a bit floaty but doable. It is very much a product of its' time before a lot of these open world style games had really settled on certain gameplay elements we have come to know and expect. It's a neat and charming game despite its' flaws.

Le jeu est amusant au début mais effectivement devient lassant à la fin.
Les missions sont assez répétitives, et de plus en plus difficiles quand les hélicos arrivent en masse et respawnent en permanence, il faut passer en force et finalement cela se traduit par des die and retry qui sont assez agaçants puisqu'on doit se refaire l'intro du niveau à chaque fois et revenir au point de départ, ce qui prend somme toute dans les 15-20s à chaque fois.
La conduite des véhicules est assez erratique, elle n'est en réalité franchement pas plaisante alors que cela aurait pu vraiment mettre du peps au jeu.
La physique quant à elle est aberrante pour les tanks, qui voltigent comme des feuilles mortes dans un tourbillon de vent : très étrange et franchement épouvantable.
C'est dommage, le jeu avait du potentiel, mais il a vieilli et a trop de défauts pour ne pas finir par être ennuyeux.
Il y a mieux à faire ailleurs, vous pouvez passer votre chemin.

Es entretenido hacer acrobacias durante las misiones, aparte de que en gran parte no es difícil. Lo que veo negativo son algunos bugs que suceden al azar o la misión final que, a mi parecer, la parte 1 de esa misión era injusta si no la pasabas con algún método no intencionado por el juego. De todas formas si te puede sacar momentos de diversión.

Jogo muito bom, mas eu passei muita raiva na última missão. Pelo jogo ser bem simples, o que resta é habilidade mesmo, mas habilidade em jogo antigo, normalmente, é algo igual a sorte. O código não tão refinado e a movimentação meio dura faz com que você tenha que torcer pra não tomar tiro.
Se algum dia ocorrer um remastered desse jogo eu com certeza jogarei.

Геймплей шикарный, но, как и многие говорят, репетативный. Но это не сколько проблема самого геймплея, сколько локации - это по сути одна из самых огромных карт 2006 года среди видеоигр. Локации красивые, но очень пустые. Буквально, огромный остров, наполненный небольшими городками и джунглями, отчего реально можно утомиться.
Глядя на игру, сразу напрашивается сравнение с GTA San Andreas - В игре есть всё, чего нет в GTA SA, но в тоже время нет фактически ничего, чем могла цеплять вышеупомянутая игра.
Сюжет максимально тривиальный, но от этого игра хуже не становится.
Так как прохождение игры много не занимает, я рекомендую её пройти хотя-бы разок.

As localidades e missões seguem uma estrutura muito semelhante, o que rapidamente torna a experiência previsível e repetitiva.
A jogabilidade tem suas estranhezas, mas funciona dentro da proposta. O gancho e o paraquedas já são elementos divertidos de usar e antecipam o que a série faria melhor nos títulos seguintes. Mesmo com certa rigidez nos controles e limitações técnicas evidentes, há um prazer claro na movimentação e nas possibilidades de abordagem, que ajudam a manter o jogo minimamente envolvente.
As missões principais e secundárias pouco variam na estrutura, geralmente se resumindo a deslocamentos longos seguidos de confrontos contra hordas de inimigos. A narrativa não contribui para elevar o conjunto: é caricata, pouco interessante e apoiada em um protagonista sem carisma, servindo apenas como pano de fundo para a ação.
No fim, é um jogo que ainda consegue ser divertido em momentos pontuais, mas que envelheceu mal. Seus méritos estão mais na ideia do que na execução, e fica evidente que a ambição apresentada aqui só seria realmente concretizada nos capítulos posteriores da franquia.

Just Cause before it decided to only embrace chaos and destruction. It's actually a really good game and still plays well even now. I really liked it before and still like it now for the gameplay variability. Small hint, if you are having a hard time completing a mission, you can literally try a completely different approach. I do recall that on some of the levels I tried only using a motorcycle, and during the very last mission I didn't really bother with clearing all of the islands and just used a helicopter.
You cannot imagine just how much you can do in this open world. My favorite choice of actions as a kid was to take the helicopter, get the highest altitude possible and immediately start making stunts, since you can literally come out of the helicopter and get on its wing, which looks absolutely ridiculous and goes damn hard. It's nothing like GTA, it's crazier.
lots of graphic glitches lighting issues, Multiple vehicles outright dont work, or are so buggy they are undrivable. example being dirt bikes stop working when you come to a stop on the beaches if you are near water i stress near not in. i remember this game not being perfect 20 years ago but it played much better on xbox then this steam ver.

Итог: Если вы не играли раньше в первую часть и вообще не фанат И НЕ НАДО. Больно...просто больно. кровь из глаз от всего. Если фар край 1 у меня хватило яиц пройти тут чет не... даже 8 часов отдавать по просту жалко сорян. Игра легенда своего времени не отрицаю прост я не выкупил.

Mecanicamente, achei um pouco meio duro o jogo, sei lá. A direção, combate etc.
o 2 dá um salto bastante considerável em relação ao JC1.

- Lepidodendron strom je real v just cause je po celé mapě a bude tě pořád sledovat po celou dubu hraní
- policie je v této hře hodně agresivní, jediná hra kde jsem musel reálně při převozu vozidla vystupovat aby mi ho nezníčily
- rakety tě zničej podstatě na jednu ránu pokud se nevyhneš dobře a pokud chceš při hořící lodi vystoupit tak to nemá ani smysl jelikož proti helicoptřéře nemáš šanci ve vodě

- aspon že občas z ničeho nic lod zaparkuje blízko tebe pokud jsi někde uprostřed ničeho, což cením takový detail a ulehčení, což je zbytečné radši bych 30 týdnu plaval ve vodě

It's fun at first, but it quickly gets boring, repetitive and tedious. It is an old game, which also means it's very restrictive. No sprinting, vehicles are floaty, ammo extremely limited for what is meant to be a sandbox, and there are so many attack helicopters that will shred you in seconds.

Good game, but it's getting a bit old now.
Just Cause, is frustrating. This game is relatively short, beat it within around 6 hours or so, although there is a good amount of side stuff you could do (which mostly amounts to gaining I guess more rep with the gangs there), there isn't really a whole lot of crazy stuff. Just delivery missions, maybe evading rockets or helicopters, taking out the bad guys, etc.
This games biggest flaw is bugs. The amount of bugs I came across in a 20 year-old game was astonishing. I figured by the time they released it on Steam, most bugs would be cut out, but no there are so many. Some that are funny, while others that are genuinely frustrating.
Sound design was also really wonky, no one was where they sounded to be and often time sound cues never went through.
Gameplay flaws included not being able to save whenever you wanted to, so if you failed a mission, well now you have to replay the first five minutes of said mission! The system for getting health is horrible. You have to either go to an Outpost before the main mission or get slivers of health that sometimes drop from enemies as you get pummeled by endless spawning enemies. It just didn't make any sense to me, like just spawn the player with full health at the start of the mission or at least let them regen over time.
The AI in this game is surprisingly good, maybe too good. The amount of times I got cut off while driving my car was crazy. I will say the atmosphere as well was good, while mostly the same throughout the game, something about the jungle and how vast it was made the island feeling really stick with me, especially the amount of GTA esque areas in the game that aren't really accessible at all.
For me the hardest part was some of the controls were really buggy and just having to restart missions over and over, because I missed a miniscule 'Press E' button that pops up for half a second. That and the absurd amount of enemies spawning in everywhere and sort of forces you to rush through them all.
Story is alright, dictator taking over island yadayada, and the characters are whatever. If you were to skip any Just Cause, this is probably the best one to go right over.

Fun game.
The explosions are pretty great.
The driving controls are smooth but not too easy.
The shooting controls are decent.
The open world sucks. It's overall shape is cool but buildings are so repeated and you can't interact with anything.
The missions are nice for the most part. Liberations are majestic and main missions are epic.
The visuals are bad. Everything looks the same, colors are horrible, models are ugly. I do like the slow motion when you go off a jump.
The cutscenes have an interesting style but I like it.
The story is alright but not amazing.

Legitimately one of the worst open world games out there. Embarrassing that they decided to show face with this janky piece of ♥♥♥♥ when other companies had been perfecting the formula for a while by that point. I'd rather pass kidney stones for an entire week than ever touch this masochistic load of garbage ever again.

This game was honestly mid. The story was decent. The gameplay mechanics were very fun and amazing. But, if they worked a bit harder in the story side, it would definitely be better. Overall Rating - 7/10

This game is a pain in the ass with outdated graphics. Made a poor choice of buying this game, now jumping straight into JC2.

I bought it when it was on sale in December on Steam.
Just Cause 1 was fun, being old game. It has a large map.
Vehicles, planes, ships, and helicopters are different across the map. You can use the hook on any vehicle, planes or ships, and you can jump from one car to another car.
After 25 hours.
I've finished the story, the collection, and almost all the races (I still have two left). Green is full rank, but yellow isn't, but I think it's at 2100 after I took all the cities, military bases, and villages.
I played more to capture cities for fun.
You can just do the story without capturing cities and doing collections. It takes about 6 hours.
Only if you are curious how this series started. It is dated

This game was released back in 2006, almost 20 years ago, and you guys are complaining as if it just came out 2 years ago LOL. Downloading "Just Cause widescreen fix" from FusionFixed and put it in your game folder, it's fixed everything you need to play this old hag, I did not have a single crash on my playthrough, just dont "alt-tab" or game will freeze.
Hope I can live to the day JC 5 release. 🪂
