マイクラっぽい2Dサンドボックスゲーム。マイクラより冒険要素が強め。
元がスマホゲームで、早期にリリースされたスマホ向けサンドボックスゲームの中では遊びやすさと楽しさで随一の作品だった。（当時はスマホ版Terrariaがなかったので）
PC版でも操作は全く違和感なし。
ゲームの流れは、
①地下まで掘ってポータルの欠片を見つける
②同種の欠片3つでポータルを完成させ、異世界へ飛ぶ
③地下まで掘ってポータルの欠片を見つける
④次の異世界へ飛ぶ
⑤地下まで掘ってポータルの欠片を……
の繰り返し。
ちなみに、マイクラと違って直下掘りが怖くないため、日光を入れながら真下に掘り進めると楽。（めっちゃハシゴが要るけど）
ユニークなアイテムが数多く用意されており、探索・収集要素が好きなら楽しめるゲーム。
戦闘要素はTerraria等の方が充実している。
建築要素は悪くないが厳しい。装飾が充実しているため、ブロックサイズの大きさに対して表現の幅はあるが、入手性の悪いブロックが多い。木の家で満足できない人は要注意。
また、実利的ではないフレーバー要素（農作物や料理のバリエーション等）が充実している。
遊ぶ上での注意点として、
・クラフトモードはアドバンスを選択する
→クラフトが面倒になるが、クラフト用の3x3グリッドがアイテム欄として使える
・アイテムが増えてきたら金属製のチェストを作る
→金属製は木製より収納できる量が多い（レシピは公式wikiを参照。レシピ未発見でも製作可）
ちなみに、はしごと足場（Bridge）を置いたマスから足場だけを取り除きたい場合は両横のブロックを破壊するとよい。

This game is the student that shamelessly copied from Minecraft and Terraria's homework. But despite that it end up being a pretty bland game. It's the bag of stale chips, like yeah I could eat those, but unless you are in a survival situation where you have to take whatever you can get, why would you eat them? The idea of the game is good, but ultimately fails to deliver. The combat is both boring and frustrating at the same time. Your weapons are extremely stubby and have very little range, in a combat situation, unless you use 'cheep' tactics, you will more than likely take damage despite your best efforts. Building can be ok, some aspects are good, others are bad. For the background wall, you just place what ever you want, but for anything solid, you will need 2x the amount of materials since you place first in the background and then in the foreground. The underground is where the game shines the most, (it's kinda a dim light tho) finding underground structures is pretty fun. HOWEVER! Prepare for your inventory to be completely filled up after 10-15 minutes of mining. Oh but don't worry you can just make a backpack to have more space... I just lied there is no way to increase inventory space... in a game with extreme inventory clutter... wow. Anyways, achievements are extremely unfriendly, you will be spending a bare minimum of 250 hours to 100% the game. The music is also extremely unmemorable and annoying. Just a lot of blops and blips. I ended up playing the Terraria soundtrack in the background. Look, the game isn't bad, but it is far from good. If you are going to buy this game, only do it while it's on sale. It's not worth the full price at all. When I think of this game, I think beige, just bland and uninteresting. This game simply is just meh at best.

I feel somewhat bad for leaving such a negative review about a game I played and enjoyed all the time on mobile several years ago, but I don't recommend playing this game in 2024. This game has died a long time ago, and while there are some cool gimmicks about it, it's simply far too tedious and bland. It also hurts that this game is VERY achievement unfriendly, and it'll take you 250 hours at MINIMUM to get all of them, which I find to be incredibly stupid. If you REALLY like sandbox games and have too much money to spend, then sure, you can get this game. Otherwise though, your money is better spent elsewhere.

Very good game its not a knock off and its very game game. I had very with all the underground biomes the game had to offer and the 12 different planets are neat too. This game has a lot to offer.

I used to play this back in 2017-2018 on my dad's old android. I needed an alternative for Terraria/Minecraft since the phone was so old that latest versions of those couldn't run on it. I played this game so much back then it's not even a joke.
While not being terrible it is a bit lacking both in quantity as well as quality since Terraria exists.
As for the title, yes this game perfectly fits the description of 2D Minecraft, since almost all the mechanics from basic building, crafting, combat to the world design and the tile system is exactly like Minecraft, just 2D.
Even after 700 hours in Terraria, this is still somewhat enjoyable. The music is also very nice, mostly just chill vibes music, so thumbs up for that.

It's a like Starbound but worse, in that Starbound is like Terraria but not as good. Just go play Terraria instead.
The game world based on RNG, some block can't be destroyed cause you need to find different ore, eventually i ran out of silver and gold to look for my 3rd piece of seth to venture to another world and im stuck in my first world and spend almost 24 hours in the game. even with silver and gold your gear break easily after digging recomended block bringing more gear result in lack of inventory spaces for multi purposed stone pickaxe for digging stone saving your gold and silver pickaxe for harder stone block which is unbreakable using stone pickaxe. Creative mode doesnt feel creative cause you cant loot the some item for test crafting another item mostly you can only put down crafting station and decoration can't access it which is also dissapointing. The core game is there just the combat and mining is very tedious.

Ok, so let's get this out of the way first. Yeah, this is an old game. Yeah, it looks like a Terraria clone. Let me tell you why you should still try it.
So Junk Jack is a side-scrolling 2D mining/crafting/building game. The graphics are really cute pixellated retro-style. The tunes rock. There are over 1000 items to craft, 10 fully different themed worlds to explore, each with their own biome. There are tons of treasures and collectables to find. You can destroy virtually any of the blocks. I know, this sounds awfully familiar, but wait, there's more. You can farm seeds you find underground and on other planets & moons. You can cook hundreds of food recipes in your kitchen. You can catch, tame and breed farm animals, and also keep them as pocket pets who follow you around. You can experiment with splicing flower seeds to create new breeds. You can also throw ingredients into your chemistry station to discover recipes for 100s of different potions with weird and wonderful effects. Now for the best (and/or) worst part... You don't know all the crafting recipes straight off. You'll know enough to get you through the game, but as you play, you'll find chests and mysterious wooden crates that can contain more recipes for you to try, like spring, summer, fall and winter themed food recipes, or decor for your house. And, YEARS after the game has been released, I can still not find the complete list of recipes online. You can also try to discover them yourself by using the advanced crafting mode and putting ingredients in the workbenches. I suggest you give it a try, it's also multiplayer if you like that!

It's a really fun game. It feels a bit like a mix of Minecraft primarily in terms of building and Terraria rather obviously in terms of the 2D. But also in other ways, such as combat. But Junk Jack has quite a lot of unique qualities to it. The multiple planets being one thing sure, but the game stands out in that it's essentially a collector's and hoarder's dream. That's where the "junk" in the name comes from. There are so many items and things and creatures to collect and tame and grow in this game. So many things to craft. So on so forth. So if that's up your alley, you'll probably like this game.

A very cute game. A lot of people go into this expecting terraria combat, but this game is not like this. Its more of a quiet relaxing game, almost nostalgic at this point. Has the same gameplay flow as old minecraft, just relaxing and building stuff. It has pretty good depth and can entertain for a long time.

I do not get what you are supposed to do ... played 2hours, did a nice house and then it seems the only thing you can do is dig in the dark, or spend the entire game putting torch every 2m.

I love how you can never get bored of this game because of all the things you can do!
It's basically Terraria clone with few new ideas and mechanics.
● The amount of content is good but it quickly gets repetitive.
● New worlds that you can visit are mostly recolored version of the first planet but with higher stat mobs, better treasures and new vanity items.
● Weapons and tools have durability - frequent repairs are required to prevent your equipment from getting permanently destroyed.
● Building is clunky and rather limited due to really big basic block size.
● Achievements are super grindy (most of my 'playtime' was idling for 250h achievement)
There are many better choices for Terraria-like games on steam, but this one isn't the worst at all.
It probably won't absorb you that much but it's still fun to play for a few days.
this feels a lot like if the blockheads (rip) had terraria's graphics and a far worse GUI. don't get me wrong, I don't hate it, and it's nice to play something similar, but it's not very intuitive and feels a bit lacking because of it. it also doesn't seem to have the same level of customization that the blockheads did.
pretty sure I got this game on sale and just forgot about it until today when I remembered and played a while, so I'd recommend waiting for a sale, because it's not a bad game for what it is. I'd give it maybe a 6.5/10, though we'll see how I feel about it once I've played more.
I appreciate the sense of humor the devs have. They have a Minecraft-style splash screen, and one of the random phrases is "another Terraria clone!" >w<
So, yes, this is a "Terraria-like". It has a MUCH heavier emphasis on mining, building, and collecting. Combat tilts towards the "lite" side, so don't expect any giant mega-bosses.
That being said, I still enjoy it quite a bit. It's just nice to zone out with for long stretches.
Recommended for casual players and sandbox fans.

Consider this a neutral review, not a negative nor a positive, this game isn't bad but it isn't good either, it has some good points but also has lot of flaws, considering that Terraria exists and even Starbound, it makes Junk Jack under average compared to those two, especially to Terraria which is an amazing game, Starbound is good but it could and should have been better.
Compared to the other games of the genre, it's good, especially if compared to Edge of Space which is utterly bad.
If not compared to any of the others, it is a fine game but as i said it has many flaws, firstly there is grind, it's not that bad but it is annoying, it will take you more time to get the ores you want because there aren't as many, plus the gameplay is kind of slow and junky. If gameplay could be remade to be exactly like Terraria or Starbound, now that'd be something.
Game doesn't seems to have many weapons, armors, etc... Kind of a shame honestly.
It doesn't have lot of content and the game feels empty and linear.
Gameplay is clunky, it feels weird to walk, it feels especially weird to jump and fight.
5/10 - Could be better with some mechanics and content updates but this game has been abandonned a long time ago.

知っているか、マイケル。JunkJackはセーブデータのバックアップを作らない。何かあればそれで終わりだ。おすすめはできません。

確認したところ消えたのはキャラクターとレシピのみでワールドデータは無事でした。レシピを失ったのは痛手ですがマップは残ったので不幸中の幸いといったところ。
[H1]ゲーム内容[/H1]
さて、ひたすら掘るというのは比喩ではなく、JunkJackは地の底までただただ地面を掘り続けるゲームである。地中に点在する小さな空洞を掘りあてることはあれど、マインクラフトやテラリアのような巨大な洞窟や建造物は存在しないので、世界を冒険することもなく闇雲に地面を掘らなければならない。そして地下のどこかに埋まっているワープゲートの素材を集めると、ワープゲートを作って別の惑星に移動できる。

[H1]問題[/H1]
JunkJackはアイテムをクラフトするために、世界のあちこちにある箱から見つかるレシピを手に入れる必要がある。そう聞くと面白そうに思えるが、問題は何のレシピが手に入るのかは完全にランダムということだ。ちなみにクラフトアイテムの数は1000を超える。その数は膨大であり、153時間プレイしても基本的なブロックや家具が作れない場合もある。
そして最大の問題として、[B]自分が何を作れないのかはわからない[/B]。手に入れたブロックは建材にできるのか？敵がドロップした素材は何に使うのか？同じ種類の素材に加工できる物とできない物があるのは、レシピが足りないからなのか？どうして空は青いのか？JunkJackは何も教えてくれない。
クラフトをメインに楽しむのは難しいゲームだろう。
[H1]よい点[/H1]
・ブロックが大きい
見ての通りとても豪快なブロックなので、ブロックの破壊や設置がかなり楽になっている。細かい建築は面倒だという人でも安心だ。テラリアなどの小さいブロックに慣れた人は最初は戸惑うかも知れないが、これはこれで悪くないと思う。
・お手軽
必要スペックが低く使用容量も少ない。かなり軽いので昔のノートパソコンなどでもサクサク遊べると思う。昨今のビルドゲームには下手なアクションゲームよりも推奨スペックが高いものが多いので、胃もたれしそうな時にはスナック感覚で遊べるJunkJackがありがたい。
[H1]悪い点[/H1]
・明かりが狭い。
JunkJackの敵は明かりの近くに出現しない。具体的にはおそらくたったの2マス。びっしりと松明を敷き詰めたマップを想像してみて欲しい。快適とは言い難いだろう。せめて5マス先くらいまで範囲が伸びればと思わずにはいられない。
・雪が消えない。
JunkJackでは時おり雨や雪が降ることがある。雨の間は植物が成長しなくなり、雪は地面につもって土ブロックや石ブロックの草を消す。[B]そして雪は時間経過で消滅しない[/B]。ひとたびつもれば整地した草地は全滅する事になる。また石ブロックなどの草はワールドが生成された時にのみ作られ、[B]あとから生やすことはできない[/B]ようだ。
また雨もかなり頻繁に降るため結構うっとうしい。ちなみにJunkJackは畑作り要素がある。
・階段がない。
昇れるのはハシゴかプラットフォームだけであり、階段や坂を設置することはできない。 (ちなみにサンプル画像などを見ると階段状の屋根タイルがあるが、背景ブロックなので上に乗ろうとしてもすり抜ける。) 先にも言ったがブロックが大きいので、階段が作れないと結構苦労することになる。
・プラットフォームは背景におけない。
この手のゲームでおなじみのプラットフォームだが、JunkJackでは少々仕様が異なる。背景ブロックに直接おくことができず、横に壁がなければ設置できないのだ。階段がない上にプラットフォームまで自由に設置できないので、建築の自由度はかなり狭い。
・屋根は高級品。
JunkJackの屋根を作るには、まず世界にたまに見つかるレアブロックである粘土ブロックが必要だ。粘土ブロックを壊すと手に入る粘土 4個で粘土ブロックを作り、粘土ブロック 3個で屋根タイル 2個を作り、屋根タイル 4個で屋根ブロックを作ることができる。
仮に屋根を10マス作りたいのなら粘土 200個が必要だ。100マスなら2000個である。どうしてこんなことになっているのか不思議でならない。
・アイテムの説明がない。
そのため仕様がわからない事が多い。例えばチェストは貴重な鉱石を使うものほどインベントリ容量が大きくなり、逆に最初から作れるウッドチェストはほとんど物を入れられない。自分はこれに気が付かずにウッドチェストを大量生産してしまった。ボクはまるでウッドチェスト屋さんだ。へへへ、お安くしときますぜ。
・料理の意味がわからない
JunkJackには多種多様な作物や果実があり、それらを収穫して様々な料理を作ることができるのだがその用途は、使うとライフを回復するというだけである。ちなみにJunkJackはポーションがバカスカ手に入る。さらにポーションは一定時間能力を強化できるものもある。料理はできない。
様々な料理を作るにはレシピが必要であるため、ほとんど必要のない料理のためにレシピの習得が邪魔される点には、ストレスが貯まる。
[H1]まとめ[/H1]
JunkJackは面白そうな惜しいゲームだ。良く言えばシンプルで硬派だが、あれができないこれができないと物足りない部分が目立つ。いくらお手軽なスペックでもそれ以上に不便ではお手軽とは言えない。
多種多様なマインクラフトゲームがある今の時代、選択肢は多く、JunkJackをプレイしなければならない理由はない。せめてもう少しプレイしやすければ楽しいゲームプレイになったのかも知れない。
とりあえず153時間プレイした自分の感想は「他のゲームをやったほうが良い」というものはだった。他のゲームならば使い道のわからないブロックをだいじにしまい込む必要はない。他のゲームならばびっしりと松明を敷き詰めなくても遊べる。キャラクターデータのバックアップを取る機能だって (以下略) 日本語で遊べるゲームだってあるだろう。JunkJackだけにこだわる必要はないのだ。
以上の理由から現段階ではおすすめできない。というか正直、153時間のプレイが吹っ飛んだのにおすすめなんてできない。悲しみ。

しかしなんとワークショップでMODを導入できるようにする予定があるとの事なので、劇的にゲームが変わる可能性がある。そこに期待して購入するという選択肢はあると思う。

Many worlds to travel to and to explore.
Cute graphics.
Big blocks (better to navigate around the map).
Cons:
The crafting is not very beginner-friendly.
I had to search through website caches of their wiki page to find the required recipes.
Some recipes need to be unlocked by "blind" crafting (find the recipes from external sources or guess them, craft the items using the recipes in game, and obtain the recipes for later usage).
Storage (chests) could use more space.
Breeding and farming are hard early game due to limited guide and resources to craft the animal food.
I need to find a wheat seed in chests in deeper caves and grow a wheat farm before feeding the animals with wheat seed. Could not find apple tree seed to grow apples and make animal food though.

Liked the idea of more but I will stick to Terraria. junk jack does not move around as smooth as Terraria the jumping and the moving around are wonky not a big fan of it worry I do not recommend this game unless you ok with stuff like that.
So, this game is broken. I have played hundreds and hundreds of hours of Terraria so that's the place I'm coming from. First, the controls are broken in that while it says it has full controller support, it doesn't. There are many things that you still need to do with a mouse. Second, the crafting system is awful. There isn't any guidance on how to craft so you spend an inordinate amount of time trying different combinations. It took me nearly an hour of playing just to figure out how to make a hammer. That hour INCLUDED time spent searching the internet for clues. I never did figure out how to use the "simple" crafting method. Add to that that the in-game documentation is terrible as well. The final straw for me was the game randomly crashing causing me to lose progress. I requested a full refund. I'd stay away from this one.
Hace mucho tiempo tenía este juego en mi lista de deseados, me llamaba la atención pero no me animaba a comprarlo, hace poco lo compré y estoy arrepentido, pero arrepentido de no haberlo comprado antes, es un juego increíble, ofrece demasiado contenido para lo que cuesta, debería ser más conocido.
Estoy muy satisfecho y contento con esta compra, no puedo dejar de jugarlo, es uno de mis favoritos ahora, lo recomiendo mucho.

To make some items the game requires you to exit to main menu, switch from simple to advanced crafting so you can craft it in simple crafting. Feels like a bug that was never fixed. Frankly I can't stand having to remember every recipe, hence simple crafting.
I don't always write game reviews, but I feel like I owe this to anyone who considers this game. i loooooooove junk jakca and it is so much better than terraria (that game SUCKS!!!) and minecraft (which is for NERDS!!!) and I looooooove computer junk jack howeeeever........ i would like to spend my money on junk jack but there are no in game purchases :(. you show me some buyable hats and ill show you a hefty paycheck. anyways, game so goood i liiike it it like terraria but blocks are BIG great if you have big nuts and sex lots of ladys......... would recommend if your ♥♥♥♥ big too because if it is then you like the game also

This game is about mining. All about mining. Mostly. There is a fair bit of building as well and you can do quite a lot with it. Or, atleast, more than you probably thought you did, unless you've been binge-watching LunchboxEmporium on Youtube.
Junk Jack is quite simplistic in game mechanics. The pixel art is very simplistic. I mean, most passive mobs only have one frame. I used to make similar animations in Mario Paint back in the day. But I think due to its similarity this is one game you can easily get into. It is one of only a few games - besides Terraria and a few others - that I can leave for a few weeks or even a few months and get right back into from where I last left off. Yet if you are into these 2D sandbox Metroidvanias where such a large part of gameplay is involved with heading deep underground, seeing what you can find, and hauling it all back up to your homebase on the surface.
If I had to sum up what Junk Jack is right now, I might compare it to what Terraria used to be like back in its 1.0 days because back then mining and building with limited materials was pretty much all there was to do. Nowadays most other 2D sandbox Metroidvanias that are near or past completion are much more combat-oriented. That doesn't mean you can't mine in them and have fun doing it but at that point most of the playerbase considers it to be a chore. Mining is what brings me back to Junk Jack. Simplicity is what brings me back t Junk Jack. Simplicity that is balanced with a lot of depth. Did I mention you can build portals and teleport yourself to different worlds? It's great for a change of scenery and some of the worlds look really cool.
My only real quibble with Junk Jack is that it doesn't have any teleportation items to let you quick-travel back to your home base or back to the last portal you constructed, which - if you were smart - you would've built the other end of right beside your base. Terraria had the Magic Mirror. I wish Junk Jack had something like that.
The music for this game was produced by James Primate, the same guy who produced tracks for Gnomoria and Rain World, and for a chiptune ensemble it is phenomenal. Even if you don't buy Junk Jack (which I recommend you do), atleast look into James' content. You won't be sorry.
All in all, I fully recommend Junk Jack. If you are like me and are also a fan of 2D sandbox Metroidvanias then head on over to the Store page and see if it is something you might like. Enjoy!

Underrated mobile game turned into a lovely steam game. Combat isn't the great, but the game's focus is more so on collecting "junk" for fun!
bardzo fajna ale niestety niedoceniona gra. nie ma az tak wiele wsponego z terraria. mechanika jest inna. grafika tez. ciekawe sa teleporterty na inne plaenty. dawno nie gralem ale nie pamietam za bardzo bossow. mozliwe ze nie ma. tak czy siak polecam. na dodatek ma coopa.
Pretty nice game, fun and simple. I would say the game is playable, but it definitely needs some changes here and there.
This game is going to be especially fun for collectors, I mean people that like collecting items and achievements.
I'd say It's a decent game overall.
