Iron Brigade is a real treat, Plenty of items of progression, Simple enough to 100% but Challenging enough to be entertaining and lengthy. The Story is simple and entertaining along with the classic innuendo here and there. There's nothing much else I can add except for the fact that this game has not aged too well in two aspects:
1stly is the Stuttering where out of the blue the game will stutter real hard but you can ride out the wave without much issue.
2ndly is the multiplayer connections, It at times will disconnect players from the host at the beginning with the solution is getting your other friend to host, And at boss fights sometimes will boot players from the lobby.

These issues are annoying yes but not game breaking and there isn't any real other problems due to the games age and I would Highly recommend.

it's an older game but it still has the same charm it did back when it was on the Xbox 360, tower defence with a interesting twist, rather than just having a birds eye view of it all it puts you right into the thick of it, taking part in the battle alongside your defences.

its was this game that gave me a love for the Dieselpunk aesthetic, these aren't agile graceful machines but rather tons of steel lumbering about.

others things i like are the little attentions to detail, like how your engine of your trench will not only rev up when you move but when you move your upper half rotates, it really helps sell the amount of raw power needed to move these behemoth, you really feel the weight of the Trench you pilot as it takes time you change speed and direction, not enough to hinder gameplay but help emphasise the kind of momentum a machine of this scale would have.

another thing i love about it is the charm it has, the game knows how wild the core concept is and runs with it, leaning into this wild setting with little things like what your pilot does after winning a battle or weapon descriptions ranging from interesting to hilarious with how ridiculous they sometimes are.

i know its a VERY long shot but would love to see this game get a remaster or hell even a sequel, i'd love to see this setting again in the modern day since it might have not been the biggest game but i loved it for its charm and the love it was made with, i knew what it set out to do and did it bloody well, far too many games now are just a total mess because there trying to do just too many different things and it just ends up with the game losing sight of the original vison so i'd love to see this again one day.

I'd thoroughly recommend this game to anyone reading this, you and your friends should give this game a go, it's a fun game already solo and even more fun with a team. my parting words are this, if you think a dieselpunk tower defence game mixed with direct combat is up your alley then i think you and your buddies with have a blast with this one, its old but gold

the concept is great. if you like tower defences, give this game a shot. you can do a lot of customization and adjustments to your trench (the mech you are in) and figure out a playstyle that suits you best.

originally played this back on the xbox when it was free for xbox gold. was gifted it once again for christmas, proceeded to play it for a solid 8 hours. this game is just as beautiful as the day I left it.
10/10 would recommend to just about anyone.
there are a few graphical glitches and if you're determined you can glitch past a few walls but man, the game is just fun

One of my top 5 games on Xbox 360. Countless hours put in. This is back when Tower Defense was becoming a thing and the people at Double Fine did it right and at the right price. I had no idea this was on Steam! Of course I had to have it.

You pilot a mech and place towers, the mechs have tons of body types, legs, and weapons to truly make your own personal Tube stomping machine. If you like a Tower Defense with a unique and quirky story, BUY THIS.

I know it will never happen but if they made a part 2 it would be the merriest of Christmases.

Great game other than the 30fps lock, but it appears when you flip your refresh rate back and fourth it will be 60fps capable for some reason then you can use lossless scaling to achieve 120+FPS.

Hop aboard your trusty mech and smash those enemies flat. Decent gameplay with TPS and TD elements. Call for new drop with heavy equipment and place it on battlefield. Various type of towers including assault towers, generators and other useful stuff. Strategy is as important as shooting so make sure to devastate those tubes. Enemies will come in different categories so each weapon is effective against specific type. Sometimes your mech might jam so make sure to punch it hard. Between missions buy and equip your mech crawler with powerful weapons and tools. Game will surprise you with some cool ideas and such. Plot is typical war like boot camp where protagonist fight against forces of evil (a bit exaggerated). Story is a bit cliche but it doesn't matter 'cause if you're like me - just jump straight into action. Music is ok. Visuals are not that bad as you can run in 4x upscaled mode so despite many years from gmae release, graphics hold well. So if you don't have your own mech already just jump on your chair (pretending it's a mech) and blast those tubes like mad (but don't break the chair (unless you want a new one (stop putting brackets inside the brackets)))!

There's to many UI issues and unskippable cutscenes for the game to flow well. Feels like the game is tripping itself up.

Also turrets need to show where they can actually hit enemies, not just in terms of range but also line of sight. To often I find myself placing a turrent where I'm confident it'll hit enemies, but it's hard to tell exactly. Only gets worse when I can't sell turrets and restarting missions takes forever due to the UI and cutscene issues I mentioned.

There's a good game buried in here, but it keeps tripping over itself.

TL:DR; Another Doublefine game that had some pretty neat thematic and gameplay ideas, but just missed the mark for finding its audience.

Its a real shame this game never had its time in the sun. I can see it being quite a fun and popular co-op game and then being further refined via updates and community feedback.

It does a lot well combining tower defence and mecha action gameplay, it balances the silly and serious in the way that Doublefine has a great knack for and is just a whole heap of fun if you can gather up some friends to try it out.

I don't think we'll ever see a remake or a resurgence for this one. But its always waiting to be picked up for a good time with some buddies.

Tower Defense Classic! World War 1 Diesel punk meets the aliens from Live Die Repeat. I just wish there was more content than the small DLC. The survival runs are fun with friends and have a nice learning curve with cool unlocks and upgrades along the way.

The game itself is SO good, a fusion of mech combat and tower defense, with a fun and silly vibe, and a solid amount of variety. It's slow to start, you are pretty underleveled, and the enemy variants all require a certain loadout in order to effectively defend. Your variety of turrets are also very impactful. So in the early stages, expect to not hit gold medals every time, and expect to occasionally get your base wrecked. But as time progresses, you get great weapons to deal with air enemies or armoured enemies, and better turrets to deal more damage off the jump.

Only two issues I'd raise for the sake of fairness, we ran into a couple of freezes over our various sessions. One player can desync and drop which then somewhat freezes the session, but this wasn't every time. Still more often than I'd prefer, but this is an old game. Other issue is just that of menu/matchmaking clunk, it is a little clunky, not quite as free and easy as one would expect. It can result in new players accidentally starting a round with no turrets in their inventory, as that part is a little 'old school', but again this is a 360 era game.

Overall, great fun, funny, great charm to it, and compelling gameplay that is great for coop.

Some of the coolest enemy/monster design I've ever seen from a game,
likewise for the mech/trenches,
as well as an interesting story that leaves you asking questions.

This game is a masterpiece of art. One of the VERY few games (in my opinion) that has gotten the Mech/Gundam formula right. I originally found and played it on the Xbox 360, got to play it with other people that carried me to the endgame, but due to its lack of replayability without other people, so as I got older, it naturally faded into the back of my mind. Fast forward to a couple years ago, I remembered how fun it was, and decided to see if I could find it on Steam, and to no one's surprise, here it is. So I bought it, tried the new free expansion and endless modes. But now I arrive at the same problem as before, accept now it's even more severe with its dwindling community.

With all that being said, on a scale of
1-"worst game I've ever played, it should be a crime to let people play this hot garbage"
to
100-"God tier game, and if you don't think so, you're only denying yourself the best time ever"
I give this game a 78 without friends, and an 89 with friends.

The menus are awful. It says mission selected then just sits there. Similar confusion with selecting loadouts.

If I use my native screen size, which is available in the menu, then it crops the view at the top and bottom including buttons that you need to press to make the game work. So it doesn't work.

Graphics are low quality.

Far too much dialogue and bla bla bla.

Frustrating game. Not worth the money I paid for it in my opinion.

you destroy hoards of enemies then use their remains to upgrade automated defenses over and over again, thats it, thats the whole game, sure you unlock better weapons and automated defenses and you can customise your mech and the pilot but the core gameplay loop lasts as long as milk being left outside in summer.

I had this game back when it was called Trenched on Xbox. A tower defense part shooty pew pew with world war era mechs. Fully custom loadouts from miniguns to laser beams and plenty of silly hats for your marine. A fun challenge solo or co-op, fighting hordes of odd tube creatures. Decent game but i'd always recommend buying on sale.. either way it is worth your dollars. lil mechs, big guns, foul mouthed marines, whats not to love.

It's a good one every now and then. Now with even more Bear! Ah ha.
