Wow. I've so rarely played a game from any genre that had as many memorable moments that this game had for me. Every mainline quest, almost every side quest was a blast! Every thing you do that leads up to each boss fight has such interesting and fun moment!

That being said, this game does have a few issues. I had to restart multiple missions and one boss fight several times, either because the dialog prompts never activated, or in the boss fight with Muppy Doo, he teleported outside the arena several times, leaving me unable to finish the fight. Other glitches included important NPCs disappearing during dialog sessions, or stopping in the middle of their conversations for no reason.

The only issue I had with the story of the game, was the lack of any real explanation of what happened to Kenny from the first game. Yes, I know the issue with the man that voiced him, but to basically not mention anything at all past a museum exhibit is annoying.

All these issues to me were small, and didn't take away anything from the game. highly recommend this game! One of the most unique FPS games I've ever played!

great game , i was a big fan of the first game and when i heard that they were working on a second i was excited. first of all the story is amazing the graphics the humor the new guns the skating mechanism is 10/10 , i also really liked that they changed up the classic boss fighting and added some different onces overall as a game i loved it and i 100% recomend it for me it was a strong 9/10. the only real complaints that i have have nothing to do with any of the above there technical issues the shader downloading thing which isnt terrible but i have to mention it and final its that the game is whey more demanding in terms of pc hardware and thats the only reson i rated it a 9 if you ingone these 2 the game is phenomenal

I loved the first game, along with the DLC, and this game did just as well! At launch it was a little unoptimised and it crashed but now its much better. I did encounter a few bugs, I would report them, but idk how to describe them lol :p

High on Life 2 had just as much humor as the first game did, even without Justin Roiland! Alot of the jokes, especially towards the end, were HILARIOUS!! The Half Life 3 joke post game had me dying!

There's only ONE problem I had, and that's the fact that Kenny wasn't in the game, besides from 1 reference to him at the start. I don't understand why Squanch Games couldn't just get a new voice actor :(

Anyways, I'll give it an 8.5 out of 10!

High on Life 2 is an absolute blast, even though it runs like hot ♥♥♥♥ right now. If you’re into adult-style humor and AA shooters, you really can’t go wrong with it.

That said, performance is rough. Even running a 14th gen i7 with a 9070 XT, I was getting noticeable chugging. Because of that, I’d probably recommend holding off until a few optimization patches roll out.

Still, if you can look past the performance issues, it’s definitely an enjoyable experience.

Loved the design of the environments, creatures, music, dialog and gameplay. So yeah, basically everything. There are definitely still some performance issues in the zoo area of the game where I was getting a bit annoyed. Everywhere else in the game I had way less performance issues.

OK I understand why this game has mixed reviews because of a lot of the performance glitches and some people thought the game was just not fun I personally found it really fun I did find a couple glitches here and there turns out I wasn't the only one having that issue but it was still a good game overall and I still recommend it plus they're trying to fix it which is something a lot of companies don't even bother doing

I don't know if it's the hot fixes, but I haven't had issues with this game and the frame rate is decent.

High on Life 2 is still a fun time, but it didn’t quite hit the same as the first game.

There are a fair few issues with textures not loading, which can be pretty distracting, and overall it just didn’t feel as fun or fresh this time around.

Still has its moments and the humor is there, but it feels like a bit of a step down.

7/10 — good, just not as good as the first.

Not as fun as High on Life

There are very few funny voice lines, so it doesn’t feel as entertaining.
Some of the puzzles are confusing and poorly designed. At times, there’s no clear clue on how to solve them, and they feel unnecessarily difficult.
If you die even once, you often have to restart from the very beginning, which is frustrating.
When playing with two monitors connected, the game automatically switches screens after dying. This is very annoying and disrupts the experience.

I love this game just like the first one, it is unfortunate kenny couldn't be apart of this but travis is funny too. The skateboarding is very nice and the guns feel good to use. My only gripe so far about this game is for some reason when entering new areas or fighting enemies for the first time and while saving the game drops from my usual 70-100fps to 30fps I've seen it get to. what I believe is happening is shaders are compiling in the background which is just no good. I love this game very much, I recommend it if you havve a decent pc. My specs are listed, I play with a mixture of low, medium and high textures with dlss on preformance. yeah some stuff doesn't look great and I've had a weird visual issue with some lighting effects being extremely bright to the point of giving me a seizure if i had those problems (thankfully I don't) but yeah, overall love the game so far and the merch i bought from spencers. that reminds me being able to go to spencers is so freaking cool.

Seems like a game with some illusion of choice to hide a very limited plot. Seems like the game itself was better than the first one. the humor was ok. but easily the worst part is the price vs performance. The game is also very short. I'd never pay full price for this title. Especially given how poorly the game physically performs.

Want to like this game but it's still generally unplayable and crashes every single time I play and still has a lot of bugs. Given all the issues, I constantly have to wonder if I'm doing something wrong or if the game/mission itself soft locks. More often than not it soft locks and works after a reload but it gets really annoying. Granted, it crashes significantly less often then when it was launched but I still can't play it without a guaranteed crash within an hour. Usually crashes during important things like boss battles or randomly.

Would be a lot better if devs actually cared about stability before releasing this junk. Their bandaid fix was frequent saves. Although it's better than restarting a mission/boss battle from the start, they should address the core issues because every time it crashes, I throw in the towel for the day.

Don't buy this until they actually fix all these bugs, it's not worth the waste of money. Worth a buy once the issues are fixed but who knows when that'll be.

Overall great game, and was decently long. It was definitely long enough to reach the back of my tremulant sphere, so I was ultimately pretty satisfied. One thing to note, though the scenery was beautiful, my perception device was not having it, so my eggnoggin got Creevus sores looking at the lag. The new characters landed very well, and kenny was not missed. I hope they drop a DLC, some bug fixes and a 3rd game! My fleeb was stimulated!

The positives:
+ Movement mechanics are awesome and really fun to mess around with. Even after finishing the game I find myself coming back just to mess around on the skateboard.
+ Level design is top notch. The levels are fun to traverse and explore with a ton of hidden goodies to pick up and secrets to find.
+ The game trusts you not to be stupid - it doesn't scream at you about how to solve every puzzle before you're even done looking around.
+ The humor is a tad different from the first game and I personally found it to hit and make me actually laugh out loud.
+ Variety of gameplay is also very nice. From basic combat encounters to solving murder mysteries and doing races.
+ The voice cast is awesome and honestly impressive.
+ Easter eggs are also great and so prominent you can barely call them that. From being able to play the whole of bible adventures to watching a movie with the RLM guys commenting over it.

The negatives:
- Guns feel kind of "samey". The last game had certain enemies that you could deal with any weapon, but certain guns gave you some advantages - like being able to freeze teleporting enemies in place or juggling rushers in the air. It's still present here, but to a lesser degree - making most guns feeling kind the same.
- The bugs and optimization. I got lucky not to encounter many bugs, but some left me puzzled - like some secret puzzle rooms were already solved once I got there - all doors being open, the blob guys you use to solve them not spawning in anymore - leaving me unable to even traverse some of the locations to pick everything up. Also some problems with VRAM allocation on arch linux running hyprland where the game would sometimes crash when pausing.

Really hope the devs iron out some issues and make a solid DLC like the first one had. Also - damn I hope they make a sequel, I'm really interested what this team does next with this world and story.

I'm a big fan of Squanch Games, I loved High on Life and Trover Saves the Universe and I love this game too but... Just not in it's current state.

Here's just some of the issues I've encountered:

- Skipped Dialogue: I've missed at least 25% of the character dialogue because everyone is constantly interrupting each other, so many people never finish what they were saying when interrupted and it cannot be heard again.

- No Autosaves or backups: One autosave is simply not enough. I've already had to restart the entire game once because the autosave spawns me out of bounds and into immediate unavoidable death.

- Serious Graphical Glitches: Every time I play this game I struggle with the inconsistent visuals. 75% of the time it works great.... The times it does not however result in graphical errors so bad that a game restart is required. I'd advise epileptics to tread carefully when playing this as these errors can happen any time. The most annoying and dangerous of these so far is when the objective guide fails and it causes the display to flicker like mad.

- Softlocks, god the softlocks: I softlock at the end of bosses, I softlock during character dialogue, hell it softlocks in half of every puzzle I play. I'm constantly having to look up the answers to said puzzles to check to see if they are working as intended. I've wasted more time than I would have liked looking for the answers for puzzles that I've already solved.

- Constant crashes and poor performance: The game crashes at least once every 2 hours. It also isn't nearly as optimised as the first game. I play on Low-Medium even though I have a decent system. I never expected to play the game on ultra at 100FPS, I just wanted something a bit better than what I got. Even on my reduced settings I get constant frame drops, it sometimes even below 20FPS.

Please don't think this is me hating on the game. I love this title and series. The story, visuals and gameplay are incredible, I just don't think this game is finished. Please put it in early access until you've patched the technical issues, Squanch games.

I don't know why this game is getting review bombed. If you were stuck considering a purchase, its worth every penny. Same satirical humor, same gameplay with the addition of the awesome skateboarding. I wholeheartedly recommend this. Its a gift that keeps on giving.

I'm being serious when I say I really like this series, but yet again they released a buggy mess. It's like the Murphy's Law of bugs. Anytime there can be a bug, there WILL be a bug.

Fatal Error crashing bugs.

Bugs when finishing taxi quests where you can't click "ok" and therefore can't leave the dialogue box and have to close the program completely.

Bugs where after catching a fish, the menu doesn't pop up and you're stuck there unable to move.

Bugs where after dialogue that renders you immovable, the game forgets to give you back control.

Bugs with Sheath's special where it maxes out at 3, leaving you unable to complete certain puzzles and leaving you stuck wherever you are, and the only way to fix them is to reboot it. (I literally looked up a guide to find out what I was doing wrong, only to find out I was doing it right and the game just didnt want me to play it)

Bugs where when trying to do a racing mission that involves you skating through a mall, the mall doors will not open for you thus preventing you from achieving S rank (only race I couldn't get S rank in)

In the first game there was a bug where one of the lugboxes wouldn't count after kiilling it, thus preventing you from getting the achievement unless you have an achievement manager or play the entire game again. It's really obnoxis then that this game has the same exact issue with the wanted posters. I hope to god they don't add a collectible based achievement in the third game because they clearly can't seem to figure it out.

It really feels like this game is fighting you at every step to play it. For just about every bug the only fix is to literally turn the game off, and for the remaining bugs, the game will shut itself off. The game itself doesn't want to be played. High on Life 1 had similar bugs, I just find it confusing that seemingly all the same bugs are here.

As for the story, well, its about the same but a little worse. I was afraid when the first High on Life came out, afraid that the guns were going to talk the whole time and never shut the f*ck up. When I was playing that game however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they give you enough space to play the game yourself. That isn't the case here. No one shuts the f*ck up in this one. Not just the guns either, literally everyone. I wonder if the writers even play the game, because if they did they probably would have noticed that half the dialogue gets cut out by other dialogue and they would have thought "hey maybe we should tighten this up!" If your dialogue is so damn long that it doesn't finish before making it to the next dialogue trigger, you should probably cut it completely or make it significantly shorter. This becomes even more baffling when you take into account that the developers KNOW you're gonna be zipping around at high speed on your skateboard at every possible moment. I'm assuming they know that, anyway, because the movement in this game is a huge improvement from the original. It might actually be hard to go back to the first game just because of that. Not that the original was bad, but this is just significantly better. The only alternative to the writers not playtesting the game, is that the developers must be grandmas who walk everywhere. Something seriously isn't clicking with these two teams and I seriously think they need to get into a room together and like, actually talk. Not on slack or discord or google meet or whatever they're using.

The bugs are frustrating, but this is just baffling.

Anyway I'd recommend this game if it's on sale. Again like the first game, it's a fun adventure game that is dragged down heavily by its price-to-bug ratio.

Good game, lots of joke like the last one, a lot of lame censure tho, but that's age and all that.

For some reason my game sometime crash, not sure why, but the game save almost every 10 minute and the crash were happening after like 2 hours of play, so not a big bother.

Like the last game tho, not a lot of side quest or replaying missions once your rich and have unlock everything.

Honestly this game is pretty good and the gameplay is very fun, but it is not $60 good.
I feel like the humor was not as fleshed out as the first one. And most of the time you cant even focus on the humor because you are too busy fighting for your life trying to kill enemies.
The characters feel more boring in this game, rather then the first game. FOR EXAMPLE: They literally turned Lizzie into your average girl boss character you would find in a recent Netflix or Disney movie.
The environment is also lifeless and boring. Its so gray and depressing, even when your on a tropical island.
And...I DESPISE JEPPY.

this thing is just aweful. just a bunch of lame puzzles. seems to be created by beginners. you can't jump on a floating beam unless you hit the button right at the end; timing has to be perfect. It's like a lame platformer.
The skateboard thing is a complete hassle. most of the time you're ginding on something you didn't want, going in the wrong direction. You can't turn around and go the other way. It's just poorly implemented. Like, "hey, I know, let's rip off Tony Hawk with a lame knock off of skateboarding.", "yeah, that's great! and then you have to jump from thing to thing with perfect timing; make sure to set it up so they can't get all the way through, you know, like those 90's platformers.
Oh, and let's make sure that conversation levels don't reflect the distance from the player, all on, all the time.
OK, great. Let's make it so they have to be on crack to follow everything going on. Oh, and the "jokes" have to suck monkey chum. An absolute need!

The game was phenomenal, absolutely loved High on life, High on life 2 was an amazing upgrade, gorgeous visuals, amazing humor, the skateboarding was... the very best skateboarding i've felt ever since Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Originally i wasnt a fan of how everything was in the same world, it felt smaller than High on life 1, but after playing it and seeing how much was done with 1 world, i instantly fell in love, so much to do, so much to explore.

Some things i feel could make it even better: A few side quest story lines that persist after you complete main story. A reason to explore past maps after game completion.

This game was a really solid and fun experience. They went for something a bit different than the first game, a bit of a lighter touch on the comedy and more intense story telling. I know people have been experiencing bugs, in my playthrough I had about 3, however I did not feel this was any more than the typical game. A lot of my gameplay was after the patch (I think this solved a lot of issues). The comedy gets better as the game goes on, there is some great payoff over the course of the game in terms of call backs.

This is a video game ass video game. If you want to play one of those, you should play this.

It’s such a good game and the story and graphics are actually fantastic. But the constant graphic bugs completely ruin the experience,they break the atmosphere, kill the motivation to keep playing, and destroy the entire vibe the game is trying to create.
I would like to keep playing so badly,but the bugs ruin it.

High On Life 2 is the direct sequel to High On Life. That slapstick comedy game that mocked you for speedrunning, the knew when you "cheated" (if you've seen the funny videos online) and the extremely vulgar language that get's tossed around a LOT.

I couldn't play HOL2 when it first came out as the performance of the game was terrible. Here I am, finally played the game to 100% and I have to admit... I really wish I didn't. I will explain WHY below. So let's get to it!

[h1][b] Cons [/b][/h1]
⚫The first thing I want to address is the performance. The game (for me) still stuttered in certain locations. It crashed on me 4 times. This ruined the game a little for me and is a prime example of how NOT to release a game. I hate when developers do "RELEASE NOW, PATCH LATER". That's what this game is and they are still failing at it.
⚫The comedy is forced upon the player. Its almost as if the people who are voice acting the comedy are just reading off of a script. Nothing was really funny compared to the first game. Imagine a comedian repeating the same joke over and over... that's the humour in this.
⚫The combat was beyond sloppy at times. I don't know if my performance issues were causing this but man... the first half of the game's combat was a slog. Mix and matching guns as you progress through the game only got worse with "mechanics".
⚫The story started off strong. It did but... as you progress through the game you can tell it was clearly a "RUSH" job just to release the game and make some money. They even MOCK you at the end of the game if you "pirated" it or got the game "cheap" somewhere else. No joke. I wonder if this was intentional.
⚫What... is... that... final... boss... fight. Its a near infinitely stretching straight line (with rails and some walls/turns tossed in) while you ride a skateboard dodging pill bottles and shooting the "big bad boss". I am sorry... what? It's an almost 20-30 minute segment of going in a straight line shooting like a braindead monkey.
⚫The "old" guns feel off. Compared to the new guns... I feel as if the older ones are just forgotten about. An old trope if you will. Even their jokes are dull and repetitive which fall flat on their face over and over again.
⚫I know I said I like the skateboard right... but mix this with the chaotic combat moments that expect you to be on your feet constantly, moving like deer being hunted just brings the game down so much.
⚫None of the "bugs" that I have seen online have been patched. I encountered about 6 or so of them that I have seen before.

[h1][b] Pros/What I liked [/b][/h1]
⚫I loved the new skateboard you get. It's a fun way to travel and it's incorporated into the game so well. You can "skate" along walls, rails and even off ramps into cool tricks. Someone clearly is a fan of Tony Hawk.
⚫Some good new guns are in this game and I have to say. they are honestly the saving grace of HOL2. Trust me... it's the really only GOOD thing (and the skateboard).

[h1][b] My Verdict [/b][/h1]
After my own opinion and experience has been jotted down, I just want to say this before I actually rate the game - the developers seem really incompetent on fixing bugs and optimising the game.

At the end of the day, High On Life 2 does do some things better than the first game but it takes more than 20 steps backwards in EVERY other aspect of the first. An underwhelming story, sloppy gunplay/combat, poor game optimisation, comedy that's repeated until it's not funny anymore... ugh.

Asking for £50 for a game that's clearly been rushed out the door to make a quick buck clearly shows GREED at a next level. I would NOT recommend this at all. Even if it goes on sale.

Played the whole game through after the first patch, about 20-25 hours and only experienced 2 crashes. Maybe I'm lucky, but it held a pretty steady performance the whole way through. I'm a big fan of how much more open the games feels and the level design. Story was pretty good, but the end fell a bit flat. Overall, I did enjoy the game, if I had to go back, I would probably wait for a decent sale. $60 is a bit steep, but I enjoy the lore and the atmosphere of the first and second game. They have also held up their end of rolling out performance fixes and I will say it has improved. Looking forward to a DLC.

High on Life 2 is an incredibly fun game. It expands way more compared to the first game where a lot of it feels the same. The Story is well done and the jokes are well done. Not all the jokes land but I have a smile on my face throughout the playthrough and the side content is also more expanded than before.

While I generally recommend the game the only bad thing I can point out which most reviews have already did is performance/technical issues. This game would have been perfect if there were minimal technical bugs present. I have already hard crashed more than 10 times playing this game and it has killed the vibe when it happens.

I'd wait until the technical/performance issues are fixed or if it goes on sale before buying this game.

Overall I rate the game 6 to 7/10 with its performance issues but I will raise it to 8.5 or 9/10 once they get patched out.

El primer juego estaba en mi top 5 de videojuegos favoritos de toda la vida y era un producto que yo consideraba la combinación y ejecución perfecta del First Person Shooter. Dicho lo anterior, creo que sobra decir que una secuela (la cual en su momento por la controversia de Roiland me parecía imposible que sucediera) iba a ser algo muy importante para mi, por lo que reservé el juego, lo jugué día 1 y holly fck1ng sh1t, esta madre es el mejor shooter que he jugado en mi vida en todas sus variantes. High On Life 2 es el juego mas divertido que te tenido el placer de jugar en este genero, quien sea que se le haya ocurrido la m4ldita idea del skate es un absoluto genio, de verdad que no me explico lo fluido, frenético y bien pulido que está el gameplay. El humor me parece incluso superior al del primerio con muchos chistes bastante fuertes para el contexto social actual y eso mismo era justo lo que quería ver, genuinamente el humor no tiene respeto por nadie y es increíble. La historia del juego ahora tiene momentos algos mas dramáticos o serios en situaciones muy puntuales, cosa que no termina desentonando con el concepto realmente y que hacen ver que se realizó un trabajo superior con la narrativa de esta secuela. Arriba de 30 horas, he acabado la campaña y aún siento que me falta mucho por descubrir, easter eggs, misiones secundarias, logros, sigo sin creer que puedes ganar un juicio de suma importancia anotando una canasta de basket, si GTA6 no sale este año, tengo un digno GOTY personal. Como único punto malo, si bien no tuve tantos bugs, la compilación de shaders cada vez que lo juegas es una reverenda falta de respeto. Hace meses esperé con estas mismas ansias Little Nightmares 3 y me decepcionó bastante, me alegra saber que High On Life 2 mereció completamente la espera. COMPRALO C4Br0N

I don't often review games. If they play and I like it, I keep to myself. This game has been out for a while now. Its still a buggy mess. Loading screens initiate display swaps. Objectives with waves of enemies don't complete and force me to load checkpoints. Hell, even in the intro, during The Bachelor sketch, I managed to wedge myself between the fireplace and camera, unable to jump out. Whoever is on the QAQC team for this game needs to be fired. Any manager that vouches for them, fired. Im not finding unique scenarios. Im breaking the game in basic play.

Ok so. First off, rell escellent game, as you would expect. Builds on the first game and makes some super fun references like Super mario 64 (thats all Ill say). But I did encounter 3 game breaking bugs that required me to restart the game to move forward, and 2 game crashes. Other than that, great game.
