[*]Only supports max 2560x1440 resolution, so the game gets stretched out on a 32:9 super ultrawide 5120x1440 monitor. (Technically you could "hack" 32:9 using Borderless Gaming, but the camera is delayed whenever you move which causes a bad experience).
[*]The melee combat mechanic is bad. The player always faces the direction of walking, not the direction of the mouse, so you can't strafe & melee enemies. (Technically you could "hack" it by shooting and then melee since the player turns to the direction of the mouse when shooting, but that's super annoying. See Dinogen Online for a game that does the look-towards-mouse mechanic right)

Fun fact, this game was original created for the Windows Phone. And… yeah you can certainly tell. But also you can get it for like 74¢ on sale, so overall not bad for the price. Though it is missing the co-op missions for some reason

I liked this game as much as the other Halo games from the Master Chief Collection. The weapon reworks are strange, yet compelling. You can definitely FEEL that it's a mobile game though with some of it's baffling decisions like the XP system. You gain XP as a currency, and you get XP for how well you do on each level. XP can be used to buy weapons and upgrades before you enter a level, and they only last for that level. Dunno what happens if you die with the upgrades and weapons, you likely lose them. All the levels are designed for the standard loadouts in mind so its not a requirement to tinker with it, but I think it would have made the game better if these special weapons were obtainable in the campaign naturally. To get enough XP for the Rocket Launcher item, took me saving up all the XP I got from an entire world of levels. And to be fair, it was worth the price, very overpowered, and I just so happened to buy it on a level that had like 7 Wraiths in it.

Regarding the story, I find it very interesting. I get to see and reenact a war that was otherwise off-screen between Halo 3 & 4. It fed me some bits of information that I was quite curious about, but also left me with a lot more questions that has left me dissatisfied. What happened to Arbiter? Why are Brutes and Elites together again? Their purpose of breaking the 2552 treaty also confuses me a bit, but I wont spoil.
My answers can likely be answered if I read the books, but to be very honest with you, I'm not a big reader, and I am also not an omega Halo fan. I think of the games that I played so far, (the entirety of the Master Chief Collection, plus now this game) I would give the franchise like a C+. But I'm still committed to play more! It gets even worse? I'll be the judge!!

I also want to talk about some of the complaints I've read that just confuse me. 1. Controls. The controls are literally fine. I think people complaining come from a result of Halo gamers just not being used to an Isometric video game. The controls are completely standard for this genre. There are also different control styles you can set if one ever confuses you. Regarding the Scorpion, I think this is a confusion where you would think pressing 'W' would move you forward relative to where the Scorpion is facing, but no, W is up. This confused me a bit too but to be fair, this is also how the Scorpion works in all the FPS Halo games. It just translates differently on an isometric view.
I also saw people complaining about lack of checkpoints and like, yeah, there are no checkpoints. But the levels are like 5 minutes long. You can't make up 5 minutes of progress? This also feels like to me, Halo gamers being used to how the FPS Halo games are, this time its how those games shove a million checkpoints in every orifice of your body. I don't think the original Halo games having too many checkpoints is a big issue or anything, in fact it might actually be a good decision, but it would not work for this title.

Both Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike are very simple top down shooters with almost the same issues.

The controls are good on gamepad (but people seem to have issues with mouse + keyboard). The shooting is decent, the Halo aesthetic is great, but the objectives and level designs are quite boring (kill everything, survive until event X happens etc.) There are no interesting interactions between characters, no boss fights, no sense of urgency or importance in anything you do (as everything is just a training simulation based on events that already happened) and in general the way the story is presented I just could not care less about what is going on.

Overall the games were not terrible. I did finish all the missions and replayed a few to get the gold stars (required to unlock final mission in the newer of the two games), but I would still not recommend them as there are plenty of better shooters in this genre.

Note for Steam Deck users: Change the resolution in the options menu, other than that both games play great out of the box.

Granted that this is a fairly old game, it is unfortunate that I cannot get the game to start. I've gone through all of the currently listed steps in the various discussions on the forums and from blind searching online. And so far nothing I do works to get past the black screen on startup issue.

If you can get the game on xbox and it plays there, then that would be the best place to enjoy the game. As it is on Steam though, probably give it a pass.

The game is a solid 5 - 5,5 considering the price.

BUT The Spartan-Ops missions are just an annoying grind to waste your time.
Also half the weapons are complete garbage

If you dont care about 100%, this gets you a solid 2-3 hours.

What a waste of money and a let down. It's nothing like the other Halo games. I find it very difficult to play and control.
Your camera is way above you and the only way to move is by using W,A,S,D (which I'm used to) but you can not turn your character around using your mouse like you can in the other Halo Games. In this one, your mouse only shoots the weapon, nothing more.
I will not recommend this game to anyone. it SUCKS!

This game is HOT GARBAGE. At least Spartan Strike is playable and possible to complete. I got to level B-1 and the game progression is bugged. Enemies are infinite and never stop. Various guides say elites show up and that you have to kill all enemies. The suicide bombers and some grunts are all i get, infinite numbers, but no elites. Level never ends even after i got 2 million points. Cannot progress, and could find no fix online for this gamebreaking bug. So this game is TRASH. Do not reccomend.

На удивление хороший порт мобильной игры на ПК. Изначально относился к ней скептически, мол, игра же была сделана для мобилок ещё и носит имя Halo, но был приятно удивлён её проработке (с поправкой на платформу, конечно).

Если описывать её кратко, то играем мы за сержанта-спартанца Палмер, которая мелькала в Halo 4. И, блин, этот проект играется лучше четвёртой части как бы это забавно не звучало. В игре 30 миссий и делятся они на несколько типов: где-то надо просто оборонять точку, в каких-то надо уничтожить Элиту Ковенанта, будут миссии по сопровождению колонны союзной техники, где-то надо просто зачистить карту. И всё это перемешано в различных условиях: то времени мало, то атакуют со всех сторон, то и то и другое плюс надо защитить союзников. При этом тут даже есть сюжет! Да, он не едрить какой проработанный, но общая сюжетная линия всё же прослеживается, а противники со временем обрастают разнообразием - если мы в начале воюем против Грантов и Падальщиков, то после появляется уже и вражеская техника. Ну и локации достаточно красочные, а на заднем фоне идут жаркие бои так что не создаётся ощущения что наша миссия происходит где-то в вакууме за что точно можно поставить игре небольшой плюсик.

Арсенал ирока тут достаточно обширен и идёт вровень с "большими" играми и не претерпел каких-то изменений. А вот с абилками тут чуть интереснее - в довесок к стандартным тут добавиили парочку новых по типу лечащего поля, ультра-быстрого бега и, моё любимое, что в разы делает игру легче - FPV дрон. Ля, эта штука мега весёлая. Нажимаешь кнопку и дрон летит в сторону ближайшего противника плюс сразу уничтожает технику что помогает с достижениями.

Кстати, на счёт оных. Ну, они тут не столько запарные сколько нудные и дико гриндовые. Кроме достижения на аккумулирование (именно разом, а не за всё время) 25к опыта тут ещё есть и банальные прохождения миссий на Золото. Но кроме этих, есть ещё и Spec Ops - допзадания за выполнения которых отсыпят немного опыта. И если 25к опыта заработается само к концу игры (при условии, если не тратить его на покупку абилок и оружия цены которых кусаются), то вот с этими допзаданиями и придётся возится бОльшую часть времени. Миссии на золото, к моему удивлению, почти не вызывали каких-то трудностей - за исключением буквально нескольких штук, они проходились легко особенно с дроном. И тут придётся помучаться, ибо раз за разом дрочить эти миссии банально надоедает. Благо, прогресс сохраняется и не обязательно проходить их до конца что несколько сглаживает процесс, но он всё ещё дико нудный.

Технически игра вылизана, багов\крашей не было. Однако, есть одно НО - Steam cloud НЕ работает хоть и заявно обратное. Так что если начать проходить игру, а потом удалить её прогресс теряется. Лучше сделать бэкап сохранения. Я так два раза обжёгся и какое-то количество времени ушло на перепрохождение того что уже было пройдено.

На удивление, крепкая игра пришедшая с мобилок. Звёзд с неба не хватает, но со своей задачей развлечь она справляется. Не то чтобы она была must play, но если все части Halo пройдены и хочется ещё немного, то why not ? Но лучше брать по скидке сразу бандл с двумя играми. Такие дела.

Görüntüleri kötü değil. Vuruş hissi pek iyi değil ancak yok da değil yine de gerekli seviyede bulmadım.
Klasik Halo müzikleri var.

Como fan del universo Halo, uno a veces piensa que solo los títulos principales pueden entregar buenas historias o momentos memorables. Pero después de jugar Halo: Spartan Assault, me di cuenta de que este pequeño spin-off tiene mucho más que ofrecer de lo que la gente suele reconocer. Para mí, es uno de esos juegos que pasan bajo el radar, pero que merecen mucho más crédito.

Lo que más me atrapó fue la narrativa. El juego no se siente como un relleno; se siente como una pieza adicional del universo, algo que expande y conecta puntos que muchas veces quedan fuera de los juegos grandes. Me encantó cómo va contando la experiencia de los Spartan y las operaciones que no siempre vemos en las campañas principales. Puedes sentir el sacrificio, la presión constante de la guerra y la escala del conflicto, todo contado a través de misiones que se sienten como fragmentos tácticos del campo de batalla. No es una gran epopeya cinematográfica, pero sí es un vistazo fresco y más táctico al mundo Halo, y eso para mí fue oro.

La jugabilidad es donde el título brilla sin necesidad de ser estridente. La vista cenital le da un enfoque diferente, más estratégico, casi como si estuvieras planeando cada movimiento, pero al mismo tiempo se mantiene el caos y la adrenalina típica de Halo. Sentir cómo cambian las misiones, adaptarte a diferentes armas, manejar vehículos y siempre estar rodeado de Covenant hace que cada partida tenga su ritmo. El juego te pone en situaciones rápidas, directas, pero con espacio para mejorar, repetir, dominar. Es esa mezcla entre acción inmediata y planificación la que me enganchó de principio a fin.

Y es aquí donde digo sin dudar: está infravalorado. Muchos lo pasan por alto por no ser un Halo “grande”, pero eso no le quita mérito. Tiene identidad, contenido interesante, una historia que amplía el lore y una jugabilidad que, aunque distinta, se siente fiel y divertida. Es Halo desde otra perspectiva, y creo que eso es justamente lo que lo hace especial.

Por todo esto, para mí Halo: Spartan Assault merece ser redescubierto y apreciado como la experiencia compacta, intensa y sorprendentemente profunda que es.

Halo: Spartan Assault propose des graphismes étonnamment soignés pour un jeu pensé initialement comme une expérience plus compacte. Les environnements reprennent fidèlement l’esthétique de l’univers Halo : les structures forerunners, les bases de l’UNSC, les plaines ravagées par les combats… tout est représenté avec une belle lisibilité malgré la vue du dessus.

Les musiques sont particulièrement efficaces, reprenant les sonorités orchestrales emblématiques de Halo. Elles renforcent parfaitement la dimension héroïque des missions. Même si la bande-son est un peu plus discrète que dans les épisodes principaux, elle reste immersive, accompagnée d’effets sonores percutants : tirs de plasma, explosions, hurlements des Covenants...

Le gameplay est nerveux, accessible et étonnamment riche. Le twin-stick shooter offre une jouabilité très agréable, avec une bonne variété d’armes, de véhicules et de pouvoirs. Les missions, bien que relativement courtes, proposent des objectifs diversifiés : défense, infiltration, destruction de cibles prioritaires…

La progression est bien construite. Spartan Assault ne propose pas un monde immense comme un RPG bien sûr, mais chaque mission apporte son lot d’action, de lore, et de défis. Les journaux et les briefings offrent un bel aperçu de la guerre Spartan IV et enrichissent la compréhension de l’univers Halo. Chaque opération raconte quelque chose, et on se surprend souvent à vouloir enchaîner “juste une de plus”.

La durée de vie reste raisonnable, avec quelques heures pour terminer la campagne principale, mais bien davantage si vous souhaitez refaire les niveaux avec toutes les médailles, réussir les défis, ou tenter d’améliorer vos scores. Les amateurs de scoring peuvent facilement y passer plusieurs dizaines d’heures.

Comme tout jeu orienté action rapide, Spartan Assault souffre parfois de petits défauts, notamment des ennemis qui réagissent bizarrement, des collisions un peu capricieuses ou un équilibrage qui fluctue selon les missions. Rien de majeur, mais il est préférable de rester patient et de relancer une mission si quelque chose coince.

Halo: Spartan Assault demeure une petite pépite pour les fans de l’univers. Compact mais intense, fidèle mais différent, il propose une approche originale de la saga tout en respectant son identité.

si no lo jugaste pues, es una forma distinta de jugar halo esta en tercera persona, tiene un sistema de logros acumulativos es decir va a tener que hacer varias veces un nivel para poder conseguirlos,
el juego es relativamente corto pero te varias opciones para rejugarlo subiendole la dificultad, ya se por penalizaciones a cambio de puntos o logros.

Top down Halo themed shooter (member Alien Shooter?) with 30 missions to conquer with variety of Halo weapon arsenal / power ups and modifiers , also there are lets say off quests called Assault Op's on each level to challenge yourself since the game is short and sweet :D

If you're a fan of Halo or Isometric Twin-stick shooters this is a fun little game. The story is alright, but is nothing gripping or notewothy. As a Twin-stick shooter there is a nice variety to how each weapon handles and interacts with enemies. Enemies are weak to specific weapons and these are similar to how they are in Halo. For example, grunts (minor) can be one shot (headshot) with the magnum. It's not too difficult of a game or a long one, but it's fun to relax with.

The only notable bug I encountered deals with controller recognition. On the Steam Deck when docked and using a separate controller, if there is ever a disconnect the game with not recognize the controller again until it is closed and restarted. This is a minor issue as all the levels are fairly short, so I never really lost any progress.

If the game is on sale it's definitely worth it. If it's not on sale, but you're interested I'd say it's still worth a try.

The only reason i completed this game again on pc was for the 100%... bad idea expect atleast 20 hours of replaying missions just so you can kill one kind of enemy with a certain gun that only spawns at the end of the level. If youre looking for a halo mobile game, spartan strike takes the cake 10 fold.

Halo Spartan Assult, Twin Stick Shooter tarzında çok keyifli bir oyundur, ama yıllar önce Çok zorlu bir bölüm Bossunda takılıp kalmıştım. Kaldığım yerden devam edip, bir kere daha şansımı denemek istedim, oyunu bitirebilmek için fakat yıllar sonra oyunu yeniden kurduğumda Windows 11'de çalıştıramadım... :/

This is an old, kind of outdated (very limited resolutions) port of some mtx-infested windows mobile game. As a consequence the gameplay is not very interesting or deep and the only time any sort of good feelings happen is when you've farmed enough "exp" to buy a rocket launcher for the next mission. This "exp" used to be buyable if I recall correctly, so you can imagine you only get a bit of it every so often. Honestly the port should have changed this system.

I'm only playing through it to 100% the entire Halo series on PC. So the faster I'm done with it, the better.
