I'm going to 100% this if I can just because Totalbiscuit liked this game so much but my GODS is it so much RNG nonsense with some of the classes just straight up not functioning. Trying to keep an ice cream monk alive is nigh-impossible and it took me four straight hours of grinding to even get the chievo for beating a boss with it because they'd die to some stupid mook enemy before they even got there.

The deck-based combat is pretty fun, but the overall lack of gameplay evolution or depth makes for a game that plays its whole hand within the first few hours and gets repetitive long before you reach the end.

Fun for just long enough for your ability to get a refund to time out, and then you start seeing the flaws. I really wanted to like this game but it became really tedious and annoying (we GET it, they're a CAT burglar, could you PLEASE stop the annoying identical yowling they make every time they hit for two or above?). You have to spend a lot of time saving if you want to avoid flooding your potential deck rewards with low-level cards. It gets repetitive. The voice acting is charming for about an hour and a half. I would be much less dismayed if I hadn't paid full price for it. Maaaaaaaybe worth $10, but even that's a little bit of a stretch given how unpolished it is.

Acheté il y a (trop) longtemps, je ne m’y suis vraiment intéressé que récemment et j’ai découvert un jeu rapidement addictif et assez drôle (pour peu que l’on comprenne l’anglais).
La direction artistique est particulière : les personnages et les décors en papier, avec peu de couleurs, donnent un ton décalé et assumé. Le narrateur et les musiques sont eux aussi sympathiques et s’écoutent agréablement.

Le jeu est loin d’être simple : le hasard du tirage des cartes y est pour quelque chose, mais il est surtout important de connaître les ennemis pour pouvoir bien choisir le courageux aventurier qui se risquera dans les donjons. Pouvoir construire le donjon au fur et à mesure du tirage aléatoire des cartes, ainsi que de choisir les ennemis que notre héros affrontera, compense un peu le hasard des tirages. Cela permet de mettre en place des stratégies d’évitement une fois que notre héros est prêt à affronter le boss du donjon, ou d’en sortir rapidement, ce qui offre une rejouabilité quasi infinie.

L’équipement (toujours aussi décalé) des héros est lui aussi soumis à un tirage de cartes. Il est varié et beaucoup d’objets apportent à la fois des bonus, mais aussi, sous certaines conditions, des avantages ou des désavantages liés au type de dégâts (physiques ou magiques) que l’on inflige ou que l’on subit. Il faudra donc choisir avec soin ce que l’on garde en fonction du type d’ennemi que l’on devra affronter.

Si le héros survit au donjon (ce qui est souvent loin d’être gagné d’avance), il gagne définitivement un trait ou un bonus pour la suite de ses aventures. Il ne faudra toutefois pas trop s’attacher à nos « dungeoneers », car leur durée de vie reste assez courte et le cimetière se remplit vite !
Bref, un bon petit jeu, addictif, rigolo et facile à comprendre, mais assez difficile à maîtriser.

I played the base game years ago and enjoyed it.

That being said I can not recommend the game now. It is grindy, forces you to kill your characters to grind, and is full of bugs.

A lot of the item and enemy functions do not work, esp "bulwark". In addition the damage math is dubious at times, leaving you wondering how you died. After dying you have no way to build up another character because you can only play each level one time, so you have to start the level you just lost with a base character.

All in all I wish I had not let my nostalgia of the original game overcome my doubts of this one for so long I lost the opportunity to refund it. Do not make the same mistake.

Το παρακολούθησα διακριτικά από μακριά εδώ και 2-3 χρονάκια. Δεν με εντυπωσίασε, δεν είχε και καμιά φοβερή έκπτωση, οπότε το άφησα στην άκρη όπως αφήνεις τα ρεβίθια στο πιάτο σου. Αλλά τώρα, στα 3,99€ με όλα τα DLC μέσα; Παιδιά, αυτό δεν είναι προσφορά, είναι φιλανθρωπία.

Πρόκειται για μια σπάνια περίπτωση παιχνιδιού όπου ο ήρωας δεν ανεβάζει ζωές, δύναμη, ή το γνωστό +1 στην αυτοπεποίθηση. Όχι φίλε μου. Εδώ κάθε αναβάθμιση δεν είναι "level up", είναι "deck up". Θες άμυνα; Πάρε κάρτες άμυνας. Θες επίθεση; Πάρε κάρτες που... μάλλον επιτίθενται. Θες σαλάμι; Δεν έχουμε. Έχουμε μόνο κάρτες.

Και μόλις τελειώσεις την αποστολή σου με ιδρώτα, δάκρυα και στρατηγική... ο ήρωάς σου ξεχνάει τα πάντα. Σαν goldfish με πανοπλία. Πίσω στα βασικά. Τίποτα δεν κρατάει, όλα είναι εφήμερα – σαν τα λεφτά μετά τον μισθό.

Το πιο παράξενο; Φτιάχνεις και το μπουντρούμι μόνος σου! Όχι εντελώς, μην ενθουσιάζεσαι. Δεν είναι "Sims". Περισσότερο "διάλεξε μία κάρτα: τέρας, δωμάτιο, θησαυρός ή ‘ωχ, λάθος επιλογή’". Είναι σαν να παίζεις D&D αλλά με επιτήδειο DM που σου λέει: «Θες να πας αριστερά ή δεξιά; Και τα δύο έχουν παγίδες, χαχα!»

Οι ήρωες έχουν διαφορετικές κλάσεις (ή ψυχολογικά προβλήματα – ποιος ξέρει), ξεκινάνε με διαφορετικό deck, και οι αποστολές είναι σύντομες αλλά γεμάτες "αχχ όχι πάλι πέθανα". Δεν υπάρχει difficulty setting, μόνο περισσότερα λεφτά = περισσότερες αγορές. Ελεύθερη αγορά και κάρτες, παιδιά. Ο Καπιταλισμός ντύθηκε Dungeon Crawler.

🧙 Τελική Γνώμη;
Αν αγαπάς τα παράξενα, τα πρωτότυπα και έχεις μια ροπή προς το masochism light™, θα περάσεις καλά. Αν πάλι θέλεις να "σκοτώνεις πολύ" και να νιώθεις ότι ο ήρωάς σου κάποτε θα γίνει Θεός – πάσο.

Με 3,99€; Πάρε δύο. Και δώσε το ένα στον φίλο που λες πως παίζει "μόνο σοβαρά παιχνίδια" για να τον τσεκάρεις.

前兩小時還蠻好玩的，但連一星關卡到中期(獲得超級傻子前)就開始坐牢了，很吃運氣而且一失敗角色就會永久死亡，前面獲得的BUFF就會不見，不想失去角色就要把遊戲關掉重開，遊戲裡的放棄任務等於角色死亡，雖然裡面有一些讓遊戲簡單化的選項，但我覺得更重要的應該是有把角色死亡關掉的選項，連育碧的看門狗軍團都有了希望之後也可以增加，就當作十周年的回饋吧。
畫風我還蠻喜歡的，角色和大BOSS在回合間也會說一些搞笑的話會讓人會心一笑，難度上我覺得是簡單輕鬆的，在殘血時才需要思考怎麼翻盤。

15r入的值15的钱，不建议原价入。玩起来不爽，卡牌构筑太少，没有局外成长，局内成型太多靠运气，辛辛苦苦拿的四特性冒险者也会因为局内运气不好被搞死，导致很烦躁。看了一下其他评论，感觉这游戏商家也不会再修正那些缺陷，这样的话我的建议就是打大折可以入个收藏，偶尔玩一把，原价或者只是小折扣建议别买。

Like so many of the other 'deckbuilder roguelike' games, it has a decent idea that wears itself out after a few iterations of play. Once the charm of the first character and item unlocks wears out, the game becomes a very repetitive loop without much else to play It uses 'random' to compensate for content, and it isn't.

用食之无味弃之可惜来形容这款游戏再好不过。

这游戏刚出的时候看up主玩过，当时还挺感兴趣的，可惜因为没中文就放弃尝试了。现如今回看老视频时突然想起来还有这么一个玩意，同时还意外地感兴趣，于是立马购买开始游玩，却发现实际体验下来还没有当初看视频时有意思。

刚开始还是蛮有趣的，但没想到会这么快开始重复。翻开游戏的图鉴一看，会发现游戏的怪物数量相当多，有好几个地区，每个地区的怪数量都是好几页，对比之下人物的技能卡牌数量就显得十分单薄，总共的类别不到两位数，结果每个类别也就四张牌（除了愚笨是5张），所有技能卡加起来甚至没有别的游戏单个角色的卡牌种类多。而最让人可惜的便是游戏的装备系统，没有独立延伸一个板块，基本上是为了前面提到的技能卡牌服务，大部分装备只是+x技能，就导致装备卡牌众多，仔细一看大部分不过是一些技能的点的排列组合，说白了只是为那不到10页的技能服务。玩下来就会发现，怪一直在变，装备也不断在变，结果一看自己能打的牌还是那么几种，要是反一下或许会更好。

除此之外便是主基地放置没啥关系，咋放都可以，明明这种放置建造可以玩出花。探索时的构建道路也比想象中的一般，但凡多加点事件啥的也不至于折磨无聊。同时打一把获取的钱实在太少，让人玩半天解锁不了第二排的新东西。

只能说游戏本身还是有潜力的，但也只是有潜力，我玩了两个小时但后一个半小时重复性都有点大，装备一直在换，怪也在变，结果一看自己的卡组还是只有那么几种牌，甚至遮掉名字图片会发现不过是多少多少防，多少多少攻。只能说和别的肉鸽或者牌组构建游戏比起来差距还是有不少的，至少他们有专属的道具栏和不重样的道具，或者构筑程度（不仅仅是角色构筑还有环境构筑）很深，又或者单纯地能让人爽。

Honestly, what a silly little gem! There are so many little lyrical songs they wrote that play during certain points in the game and that has me thoroughly delighted! I sought it out and found it on Bandcamp! Now I can envision myself a great dungeoneer (or a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ one) as I drive around doing mundane errands that involve no dungeons... Sad...

Anyway, gameplay is in part deckbuilding. You start with a certain amount and type of card (depending on which character you send into a dungeon) and can find items that grant you stuff to your character (like more heath or debuffs/buffs or pads out your deck.) The other part is building a dungeon for your character to traverse through. You place down rooms, collectibles and enemies and do your best to succeed. If you don't? No big. You're a guild! More idiots will flock to your guild and ultimately their death, maybe, each time you complete or die in a dungeon. Apparently that's very normal. The game expects the death tally to be so egregious, one of the tiles for your guild is a graveyard. With a Gravedigger no less and yes, you can send them into a dungeon to fight. lol Oh and you do build out your guild. You can buy areas that give you a character to go put in a dungeon, or a blessing to help them out, or more item cards to find in said dungeon. I've said dungeon a lot but hey! It's called the Guild of Dungeoneering and it's wicked good fun! lol

Questo gioco non l'ho mai capito, nè oggi nè tantomeno nel 2015 quando lo acquistai.
L'idea è buona (esplorare un dungeon "costruendolo" con le carte pescate di volta in volta) ma l'implementazione mi ha sempre lasciato con un più di qualche dubbio: il personaggio si muove da solo targetando di volta in volta una casella in base al contenuto della stessa e in base alla classe del pg stesso; capita però alle volte che il piazzare la casella scombini randomicamente il path che vi siete fatti in testa. Capita inoltre che passiate turni su turni ad aspettare che vi esca la carta giusta da piazzare sul tabellone solo per progredire nell'esplorazione (cosa che reputo frustrante e stupida).
L'ho voluto riprovare dopo 10 anni circa dall'ultimo mio gameplay e mi sembra che sia cambiato qualcosa in termini di aggiunte (non ricordavo la meccanica del "favour") ma nulla che faccia propendere l'ago della bilancia verso un drastico miglioramento.
Peccato perchè comunque ho sempre apprezzato l'idea e lo stile artistico.

A fun game held back by some limitations in gameplay, some dungeons you just don't draw the map tiles needed to accomplish the goal in a reasonable amount of time. In others you get some powerful items offered and you just run away with the game.
There is some interesting gameplay in the simple style and very simple UI helps this. I didn't have any problems learning how to play the game. (initially I did when I had never played a card game before, and came back some years later to give it another shot and found it comically easy after playing several games now)

You'll lose a few adventurers just down to bad luck, sometimes you'll just get wrecked by being forced to fight an enemy above their level. And sometimes you (or at least I) make mistakes, it happens but those mistakes can cost your adventurers their lives, something the game makes very clear to the player and it's not even meant to be a big deal, more adventurers will sign up very quickly.

So the interesting thing about this game is the maps are basically randomly generated from a set of tiles/enemies and loot. You build the dungeon, ideally towards a specific goal (kill the boss, collect X gold things and so on), unfortunately it's not quite as fun as it sounds. You'll sometimes get some very strong enemies you have to place, other times you'll get swamped with lots of low level opponents on the map and the dungeon will feel like a chore.
There's a little bit too much rng in what map cards are offered, and no way to edit or adjust the drawing of cards for that mechanic.

The actual combat is fairly quick and once you get to grips with the game. I'll say the first level or two of your adventurers seems to be when they're most vulnerable which is problematic because this is when the players are first using them, so most folk will never find out the stronger versions of your little gang of adventurers. (the traits can be powerful)
The biggest issue for me is that hp is just a bit too important, just a single point is enough to swing the outcome of some fights.

You get to customise them but it's very basic, some hairstyle changes, rename them and a choice of 1 male or female voice. I started to get glazed eyes after customising my 8th or 9th adventurers, at some point the random visuals don't really matter, all that really matters at least to me was being able to complete the dungeons without losing the adventurers.

The level ups for the adventurers were a little limited, I think they mostly got +1 hp and after completing a dungeon they got a trait. I would have liked a bit of a skill tree to open up, rather than yet more rng.
The only real choice the player has in character customisation is what item they get to pick when they get the option in each dungeon.

The game is okay overall, it functions well (as it should, it's pretty simple in presentation). But eventually I saw through most of the mechanics over time and became a bit disappointed in how it wasn't simple enough to just let me have a fun time (adventurers die pretty easily), or complex enough for me to feel in control (lacking higher levels of customisation in various areas).
Yet the game is fairly hard, particularly when you're first fighting a type of enemy for the first time in various types of dungeons. Once you get how to beat them it's no big deal, but until that point it's not a fun time.
It is however quick, each run is easily 30 minutes to complete or less so it's hard to feel to upset about it.

Honestly if I could offer on a sliding scale of review somewhere in the neutral region between positive and negative I would. (when I was having fun it was close to 8/10 experience, when I wasn't it was more like 3/10. I don't know how to boil that down into one score)
You might enjoy what's on offer if you're really curious but for the most part new games do most of what this one does better and in more advanced and/or intuitive ways.

Ever since slay the spire came out it's hard to argue anyone buy this game over something like that. Or even darkest dungeon. Or a whole host of other card games/rpgs if you want that kind of experience.

I respect this game for trying to tie together card games and dungeon delving but it just wasn't quite there for me. Not strong enough card mechanics to engage me on an intellectual level and not strong enough story/setting to get me immersed in the world/adventurers. Too hard to let me take it lightly and too comedic for me to take it seriously.

Anyways I'd still like to thank the devs for giving it a shot and working on the game for a good while after it came out. So many other devs just abandon projects if they're not immediate successes.

Just started a fresh playthrough hoping the game had been improved, and it's disappointing. The gameplay loop of this game is still very basic and repetitive. All the dungeons feel basically the same, and build variety isn't very substantial.

Right now I have a character who gets +1 to heals, and is basically immortal. The best play is the same thing every time: light enemies on fire and sustain heals until they die. I'd kill him on purpose except that the other characters aren't that different, and I'd just be gimping myself.

Guild upgrades are cheap for the first tier but everything after that is an absurd grind. Four hours in and I've only bought 1 out of 12 tier 2 upgrades, and the ones in tier 3 are four times as expensive.

Also there's random sound balancing issues. Some classes/enemies have startling loud sounds compared to the rest of the game, and there's no way to manually balance the audio.

The game would need a lot of work to fix, and if the devs haven't fixed it by now they likely won't. Not worth the time or price.

很有创意的肉鸽+地牢类型的卡牌游戏，人物画风也很讨喜，
但是前期确实一直死，用实体堆钱解锁高级职业就好打了，但是前期攒钱确实坐牢。
最大问题就是后期同质化有点严重，打到后面会感觉有些无聊了

I first played Guild of Dungeoneering many years ago at the recommendation of TotalBiscuit (RIP). His outlook on the game was mostly positive, with a lot of his criticisms landing, in typical John Bain fashion, on the technical side of things, sprinkled with some quality of life complaints. The Ultimate Edition could be seen as a direct response to that review, as it fixes essentially everything: adjustable game speed, variable resolution support, new animations, more depth. The list goes on with the multitude of changes made here, though despite these admirable and welcome changes, this is still the same game of 2015, and that isn’t entirely positive.

As a turn-based rogue-lite from the mid 2010’s, Guild of Dungeoneering doesn’t have the same complexity you would perhaps see and want from a game of this ilk today. Employing a pen and paper visual style, where characters are scribbled with distorted cutesy features and a broader emphasis on silly enemies and dialogue, GoD evokes the image of a kid making do with what they have, creating their own adventures on the fly and quickly scrawling down quick illustrations of their mental escapades. Fittingly, GoD’s combat uses an easy to grasp card system, where both your own and enemy cards will either have attacks on them, blocks, or a combination of the two, lightly dusted with other potentially detrimental or advantageous effects, like healing, self damage, card draw, or damage over time.

Anyone with any experience of anything can get to grips with GoD within a few minutes. It would be a stretch to say it has the complexity of even something using Rock, Paper, Scissors logic. It’s just weighing up how many hits you can take before you can get their health to zero. You unlock new builds over time, but the restrictive nature to GoD’s combat creates a situation of false depth. I don’t think I could list many of the classes by name, as a large proportion of them play identically, most either falling into mages, warriors, or blockers. The former build their decks by shoving as many damage cards into them as possible, while the latter play a sort of game of attrition, making small ♥♥♥♥♥♥ in the enemies health bar while avoiding any themselves.

I don’t think this is through lack of trying on the developers part, as the sheer number of classes and their proposed gimmicks indicate intent, though the dearth of unique cards to pad your deck with - along with the fact each deck resets after every short ten minute adventure - means most classes play the same. The game is hit with another blow as it relies so heavily on randomness to create conflict. After every successful run, your class will pick up a trait, which effects that classes deck permanently in the future. Most of the time, this feels like an unintentional hindrance, as classes which rely on blocking for example can have their decks instead padded with spell cards which cannot ever be removed, unless of course, you die.

Segueing into the overarching progression of this rogue-lite, Guild of Dungeoneering hinges on the concept of an ever expiring, ever replenishing conveyor belt of new adventurers. When one class dies, a new character with the same base deck joins the guild, losing all the traits the recently departed acquired. The intent here is almost the inverse of say XCOM, where you slowly build attachments to your squad members, and mourn them when they inevitably get disintegreated by aliens. Only, where the XCOM build bonds, GoD’s character impermanence naturally makes disposability and dispassion a key theme. It doesn't help that there's little to no permanent upgrade system. You can buy small talismans which give minor boosts to all your adventurers, and purchasing the few card packs on offer makes future runs contain better loot, but they're drops in the bucket when so many runs will end up relying on luck anyway.

This is a fairly negative outlook on an otherwise perfectly serviceable game. Echoing the same sentiments as TotalBiscuit, Guild of Dungeoneering’s simplicity is both its biggest strength and greatest hindrance in reaching it's full potential. While enemies and items quickly blend into homogeneous entities, lacking distinct qualities that make them identifiably unique, the ease of play and broadly flat difficulty curve make for enjoyable short bursts of gaming. Building your short-lived deck is often left to chance, but on the occasions you nab the right cards that fit your class, Guild of Dungeoneering doesn’t concern itself too much with balance and lets you engage enemies with silly, evidently broken builds, like lathering the enemy in burns and bleeding, passively sapping them of their health, while you sit comfortably behind several cards capable of swatting any of their attacks away. It’s a shame that the Ultimate Edition doesn’t quite go far enough in making Guild of Dungeoneering a veritable staple of the genre. It’s wonderfully illustrated, and built on a sharp, if simple framework, which due to some shoddy design decisions make for frequently irritating gameplay loops.

I don't know if I could recommend this game at full price: it's okay but I think the concept really lends itself to some inescapable failures which is never fun to experience.

I think if you see it on sale for 50+% off, it's totally worth it to try it at the very least though.

This is a puzzle game at heart, but it's more of "solve the game" than "solve a puzzle." There's a near useless tutorial that teaches the bare mechanics of how to interact with the software. It's as if you told someone that hadn't used a computer before how to use a mouse and keyboard, and then watched them struggle to figure out how to use the OS cause they have no understanding of windows, file types, or internet safety.

For example, it's a deck builder where you reset your deck for each level, and you can unlock new card rewards to get from each battle within the levels, however you will unlock a lot of cards you won't almost ever see, because the cards have a corresponding enemy level they are rewarded from, and those levels will be too low for the enemies you are fighting. There's also a system for which cards you'll be rewarded with based on temp skill points, which the enemies also follow, meaning you can know what the enemy's deck is only if you have figured out said system and remember each skill "tree."

With no undo button, limited difficulty settings (there's two mercy settings in the settings menu, one for +1 hp and one for 5x the gold drops), and missing system explanations, this is not a quality puzzle game for "fun." With that in mind, the graphics, music/ambiance, and actual controls/ux are not worth bearing through solving this game. Frankly, I'm 90% sure I got this from a Humble Bundle a while back, so in a way it was free, but I'd still much rather spend my time elsewhere.

Edit: I do believe that the artist (or art designer) could have been better used in another project, as while their work couldn't keep me around for this experience, it does have some character to it, and I could see it complimenting a much better game down the line.

*Historia: no tiene. La premisa consiste en construir tu gremio de aventureros. Para ellos has de salir de aventuras y completar mazmorras. Cada una tiene un objetivo para acabarla, y básicamente consiste en ir explorándolas, mientras te enfrentas a los monstruos que las habitan, lo que te permite obtener equipo que te confiere cartas y subir de nivel al héroe que llevas. Los objetos y sus cartas no se conservan, pero el oro logrado si, con él que podrás añadir nuevas habitaciones en tu gremio y conseguir diferentes clases de personajes.

*Audiovisual: el diseño de las cartas es minimalista con dibujos infantiles, dándole un toque gracioso. Por otro lado, los escenarios construidos con losetas, recuerdan a los planos cenitales de los clásicos mapas de juegos de rol de mesa estilo D&D. La música ambiental no destaca, pero el estribillo del trovador es muy pegadizo.

*Duración: media (40h) para completar todos las mazmorras.

*Rejugabilidad: baja, porque ya con la exploración de las mazmorras iniciales, se siente repetitivo el juego. Necesitas fuerza de voluntad para acabarlo al menos una vez.

*Lo mejor: A) El sistema de combate es sencillo, intercalando la defensa y el ataque en la propia carta, dividiéndolo en dos tipos, mágico y físico; B) la mecánica de montar el tablero mediante cartas/losetas de salas, monstruos y tesoros le da un componente estratégico; C) siempre anima poder construir tu base y personalizar a los héroes que reclutas.

*Lo peor: A) al carecer de cualquier tipo de historia y no poder conservar los objetos conseguidos, no sientes una motivación por explorar las mazmorras; B) Tras unas pocas mazmorras, todo se vuelve repetitivo, quizás por la poca diferenciación de los mazos de héroes y monstruos; C) Precio excesivo (20€) para lo que ofrece.

It's the same as the original game without really making things fun; I don't see the ability to resurrect any of my old characters and the buffs you give in the game-play settings are pretty much useless, your characters are put into a meat grinder no matter what you do, all it takes is a bad hand, and an inexperienced player who doesn't know the rules. On top of that the stupid bard has nothing good to say for hints or clues on how to pass a tough character...

...play nice? Not in this programmers vocabulary. You can't do much more than make a character hot-dog look like a dressed up theme meal and stuff it into the dungeon's mouth.
