Not a fan of the last third of the game but the middle age part was really good
A fun little game. The last act was mainly a VN, with few choices. Interesting story.
Fully voiced-over with tons of lines, it is an old school Point and Click. But it is not an easy one, i recommend using a guide for the different puzzles and maze of this game.

I don't exactly know what to have made of this experience. The game is a "comedy adventure," but also has *massive* tonal shifts that more interrupt my enjoyment of the Monkey Island-esque humor elements. I completed the game feeling very uneasy, which may have been the point!

Usually it's quite hard for me to pass through Point&Click games cause of boring pixel hunting and long list of different bizarre combinations of things from inventory. This one is much simpler in terms of gameplay and still joyfull in terms of plot.

La versión en español es correcta aunque había un par de frases sin traducir y alguna cosa que sonaba medio rara, pero es aceptable, y el doblaje original suena bien.
This is only worth it if you're really desperate for point-n-click adventures. The graphics and animations are good, and the puzzles work out alright. But the characters are dull, the writing never reaches quite reaches clever, the story is boring, and the many pastiches and references are merely there but uninteresting.
It's kind of trying to re-create those Simon the Sorceror/Legend of Kyrandia days. But I'm sorry, the writing just doesn't pop.
As an adventure game, there's far too much back-tracking, and it never adds anything. It really is only passing through screens you've fully explored before (many of which don't have anything to do inside anyway) to get to where you already know you need to go. All that walking is padding.
The flat writing and all the extra walking add up to a slog of a game.
1. The pixel art is beautiful if a bit muddy or weird in perspective at times for the backgrounds.
2. The puzzles aren't confusing and don't have strange solutions. Oftentimes they are a bit too simple I think.
3. The peasant shenanigans in the first act is cute and was probably what I liked the most about the game. I like all their accents and their voice acting. Everything sounds pretty authentic and fitting.
4. Thankfully there are no overly specific or stupid achievements.
5. There is too much pointless dialogue and "lore" dressing up an extremely simple and uninteresting storyline. You can hear backstory of random side characters that are completely pointless. I feel like the game's actual story could have been expanded instead of giving needless background info to these one-note characters.
6. The metal gear solid references were way too heavy handed in the final act of the game. Come up with some of your own ideas...it's way too similar. I especially wasn't fond of the guy with an english accent trying to sound like Snake but still having an english accent come through. I thought that sort of thing only happened with american VA's doing crappy english accents.
7. Sometimes the sound effects are needlessly loud. For example, at the very beginning of the game, there is a guy digging with a shovel in the foreground and the sound of the digging is way too loud, it drowns out normal dialogue.
8. The UI, although you don't have to use it much, has some very strange design choices. For example when you pause, there is a red X in the top right. Looks like it should close the pause overlay and unpause the game, because X at the top of a window in most operating systems closes the window. However it actually tries to exit the game entirely. Despite this being an option in the actual pause menu options already. You have to manually click "Resume" to unpause the game instead. Just a weird choice. Also, when you interact with your items in the first two acts of the game, the item images overlay over the entire background. This can be confusing if the colors clash with the background, since there isn't and opaque background behind the items. Another weird choice. At the end of the game, you have to make a medical solution by mixing colored fluids. You're supposed to mix 2 colors, but there is no indication you can do this, it just asks you to choose the colors to use on the patient. Turns out you just have to choose the two colors, and the system knows you want to mix them out of nowhere. Confusing as heck.
9. The last act has very awkward emotional part between characters that were just introduced like 20 minutes ago, which falls completely flat. The hero of the story is a side character introduced at the start of the last act. Holy moly is the end sudden and the final act awkard.
Overall despite the fact I really like the look of the game I can't really recommend it to point and click fans or people who just want to play something new. There are many better point and click games out there with a lot more effort put into their stories. I'd leave this one until you don't have much else to play for point and click fans only.

L'histoire bien que plutôt classique est divertissante et le fait que le scénario se déroule dans deux périodes différentes, soit le passé et le futur, est une bonne idée qui entraine des situations inusitées.
It's a short and enjoyable experience. It's not going to blow your mind, but at this price, it doesn't overstay it's welcome and there's no "moon logic" to the game, very much a good time!
Marvelous game. Great plot, perfect writing and voice acting, captivating and somewhat innovative gameplay. Very recommended. And don't forget to switch the game to windowed mode.

Pretty entertaining point & click adventure in the style of the old LucasArts games, but way easier. Definitely liked the medieval part of the game more than the futuristic setting, but luckily that part doesn't overstay its welcome. I did have a few annoyances tho, like how some paths aren't visible immediately until you move to the edge of the screen and an arrow appears.
Overall it's definitely worth a playthrough for anyone who enjoys old school adventures.
Some of the puzzles are ok but the voice acting is for the birds and a couple puzzles were really dumb.

In gewohnter Manier sucht man (scrollende) Hotspots auf schön gezeichneten Locations nach einsackbaren Items ab.
(Bei Adventure lernt man fürs Leben: ALLES! IMMER! SOFORT! einstecken, was so herumliegt. Vom angebissenen Apfel bis zum blutigen Messer)
[h1]Und dann, wenn Logik und Gehirnverdrehung nicht ausreichen, klickt man jedes Item mit jedem Item und jedem Hotspot an ... und kommt so weiter in der Story.[/h1]
Richtig gute Point´n´Klick haben immer etwas von einem Wimmelbild.
Die eingeführte Hotspottaste für das Genre empfinde ich seit Einführung als Störung.
Pixelgenaues Absuchen von Pixelartbackgrounds gehört zum Spielspaß! Also für mich!

The story is a little bit cliche I would say. But the visual and story presentation is great. Nice work of point-and-click genre.
Would I recommend this game? Yes! Indeed I would.
+ Great writing, awesome dialogues
+ Somehow the characters and writing remind me of Discworld games
+ Graphics are beautiful and vary enough through the game
+ Long timeline from mid-ages to the science fiction future creates a huge but greatly successful contrast
+ Talking to characters is fun, rewarding and there are lot of dialogues
+ Animations are generally pleasing
+ Not too short, and the story is complete
+ Music is great, and there's enough variability
+ Interface is generally a delight to use
+ Steam-achievements are always a bonus
- Voice acting is sometimes technically quite so-so.
- No separate volume settings for voice acting and music, which means that voices sometimes get lost under the music and sound effects
- Intro feels a bit detached at first, but fortunately the game will get back to those events.
So you see. It's a great game. It got 92 points and 4 stars out of 5 in my review. One of the best games of recent times.

A fun little p&c that has a Whacky twist, cheekiness and is full ofPs1 era nostalgia... and WAY better voice talent than I was expecting. I left smiling. A few puzzle were too obtuse I think but all in all I liked it allot!
Fantastic little adventure game. Short, easy, and fun. All you really need to be honest.

Guard Duty is an easy and relatively short point-n-click adventure with lots of references ("use wax lips with giant hairy yak"), original graphics and a servicable story. The semi-bumbling protagonist is, for once, friendly and personable and the game offers a few hours of entertainment. Recommended.

For some reason the "quit the game" button is a red X-button in the in-game options menu rather than an option "Quit" (among "Save" and "Load"). At first I assumed the button would close the options menu.

It's clear that a lot of love and understanding went into this game from someone who's very aware of titles like Discworld, The Secret of Monkey Island and Broken Sword to name only a few. That said, it's not just that the creator is aware of these games that makes Guard Duty so memorable, it's that the creator clearly has an understanding of what makes those games so unforgettable that works so favorable here in Guard Duty.
Guard Duty is full of nostalgia and succeeds at leaving a charming and memorable experience, one that I furtherly enjoyed.
I loved being thrown into a ridiculous world riddled with references to old point & click favorites as well as other popular more modern titles.
At the time of typing, I'm absolutely shattered so, I have no idea how to finish this review. I'll just leave it here. Ta for reading and all the best to you.

Heavy of dialogue and exposition, light of content and gameplay. Definitely won't land with everyone; personally I found it very charming in a bumbling, twee kind of way and overall a heartwarming journey. A sense of love & enthusiasm for what was being made permeates the experience.
A cute game that does what it sets out to do and not much else: make an homage to retro, 80s-90s era, point & click adventure games. The hand-drawn pixel graphics are definitely top-notch and the game works flawlessly. the graphical interface is intuitive and the story well-written. The humor itself is also a throwback to the same era (maybe a bit more refined). Though I appreciated the schtick, having grown up on that era of games, even for me a few of the jokes fell flat so I imagine some other folks might find it a bit harder to appreciate. Still there's nothing offensive here, so I would recommend this game. As for length, I went pretty slowly and I took only 4 hours to play through with 100% achievements. So, if you're not into the nostalgia aspect of it as I was, it might not be enough game to make it worth the full-price of $10. If you do dig it though, definitely worth the sticker price to support an indie dev making throwback games.

I really don't know think there's an experience worth having here. The game just isn't there, and its not accurate to describe this game as an 'unforgettable adventure' when it spans barely 3 hours of gameplay.
None of the sales pitch is accurate beyond the mere descriptives. There's 'love' in the sense of classical peasant-princess infatuation tropes but nothing about the relationship is more than that. There's 'loss' in the sense that theres an evil villain who does evil things for about 20 minutes of screentime that gets undone with a time machine moments later before the credits roll. Its 'comedy' in that there protagonist is a bumbling fool archetype who gets bullied a long with a loose but shallow humor with some of the puzzles and presentation but not in a strongly committal way.
Other negative reviews have it right, there's so much in this game which is just... throwaway. Two whole NPCS have multiple lines dialogue, like 10 or more, and entire screens of art devoted to their presence with literally no puzzle, story, or comedy relevance to the story. Literally a blacksmith who just exists, and a fishing goblin who just fishes. They have no purpose in the story. You get no items from them or on their screens. You get no hints. Nothing. If you never entered their screen or clicked on them, you'd complete the game 100% all the same. So why are they there? Why do this? It makes no sense.
Some five or so more are there just for vague setting/lore dumps. A handful more for very very basic puzzle reference, and a few others JUST to be videogame references as a sort of referential gag with no humor associated with them. I don't know why the devs chose to do this, because it feels like so much wasted effort for no payoff.
Thats not even counting the extremely basic puzzles which lack a sense of played interaction. Numerous background elements have slight descriptive text but no purpose and theres a big handful of red herring items (fruit, coins, pencil). I don't even have much to say. Numerous items I acquired because the game let me and then they had no purpose. You can kill a giant spider as part of the story by luring it toward another monster, acquire its venom glands as an item on the ground, and then lose that item a mere few minutes later when you get inventory wiped by a story transition, with no real purpose to the item being in the game at all. Why? What was the point? Its not satire of the genre for NPCs to casually drop 'I can come back for it if I need it' for other items you cant acquire and then let you just pick up a ton of useless stuff. That message wont get through if it was meant to be a 'haha funny genre quirk', its just bad game design. And I don't feel like the devs were trying to make a 'haha funny' here.
The story is as basic as you can put in tiny three hour point and click game and this is [i]padded out[/i] by the aforementioned story irrelevant loredump character dialogues. I skipped massive amounts of spoken dialogue in this game when I realized the characters had very little to say that wasn't shallow and I could read faster than I wanted to hear them speak. I love point and click games and spoken dialogue so it has nothing to do with a dislike of the genre, it just has to do with this game not being good. The comedy just falls flat. Too many throwaway references or others that go on too long and the humor isn't even really... humor. Its not even a visual gag. Its not even absurdist. Its not even bad. Its just... [i]not[/i].
Don't buy this game. Its not worth your time. Even If its on sale for 75% off, down to a mere $2.50, don't buy this game. If its in a bundle of other games and that bundle has some other game you really want, save yourself three hours of a mediocre experience and don't play this game. No offense to the devs, but time is a resource too. There are plenty of other good point and click adventure games worth your time.

This is such a cool adventure game! A must have for every adventure games fan! It's fun, it's addictive and it got some old school adventure puzzles! The pixel art is great, but it also has some great voice acting! To top it all, it offers many unexpected surprises along the way that makes the game feel fresh! Such a great game! Recommended!

Guard Duty is a fairly short Point & Click game that has only 3 chapters. You can play through it in about 3-4 hours. The game takes place partially in the past in a medieval village and partially in the future in a dystopian cyber-punk type city/space station. There is a connection between the two but, the game feels very different playing in the two different times. The first and second chapters are played as Tondbert a medieval guard and the third chapter is played as Agent Starborn a futuristic Guardian. While Tondbert has an actual inventory that you select and use on other objects/people, Starborn's inventory is used automatically when relevant. I feel like it was meant to be humorous or at least partially but, I just didn't really find it humorous. It does have several nods to 90's point & click classics and that part was a bit nostalgic but, doesn't do much to make itself very memorable.
The graphics seem a little uneven to me with the normal pixel art style graphics looking reletively good and in line with a 90's cartoonish style Point & Click. The close up's and cut scenes however are a lot less polished and look a little cheesy. The story is also, in my opinion, a little uneven. The natural resolution on the game is pretty low and unfortunately on my 4K laptop I had trouble, even when using the included configuration tool, getting it to display. I spent a good deal of time trying various configurations only to end up with the same result where only the bottom left quadrant of the screen was visible on my screen. Eventually, I had to settle for windowed mode which was the only one that allowed me to see the full game screen. Unfortunately, it still ended up being a small-ish window. Visually, it was still large enough to see but, I occasionally found myself clicking outside the game window when trying to move to another screen. Another, issue related to moving from one screen to another is that some screens are split so half the screen is accessible by walking to it but others are not. Most screens are not split and show an arrow indicating you can exit to another area. Some splits are north south and others east west and the screen doesn't necessarily start scrolling unless you click far enough and start walking into the second area of a split screen. This means sometimes even though you might have walked near what appears to be the bottom of the screen or the side, that it doesn't trigger showing the other part of the screen so you think that's all that's there. I found that a little annoying as it made it frustrating in a few instances to progress in the game.
The overall story idea is pretty good and when it comes to some of the main story it seems pretty well written most of the time. However, when you talk to side characters or even some of the main objective conversations they come across as a bit cheesy, perhaps rushed, and sometimes poorly written. Some parts are very well written and others are just not, I think the story's potential was never fully reached. The uneven writing is not helped by the games odd pacing where sometimes it feels a little slow and other times it feels like it's almost jumped ahead (and I'm not talking about when it jumps from the past to the future).
I absolutely love point & click adventure games but, a big part of what I usually like is the mix of puzzles with exploration story, inventory use, and adventure. This was hardly challenging. The solutions to progressing were usually glaringly obvious and there were no real puzzles. I guess the closest you could call a puzzle is a small forest maze and using it to lure a spider. It was very simple in terms of puzzles and situational solutions. The most challenging part was probably the light pixel hunting you have to do to find all the hotspots you can interact with.
If you are a 100% completionist on achievements this one is really easy to obtain. Pretty much all of the achievements are story unlocked. I think only one is possible to miss and I think most people who play this genre type, wouldn't miss it. Personally, I prefer a better mix of achievements as opposed to just story unlocked, but it does mean you will probably only have to play through once to get them all and as easy as it is, you won't likely need a walkthrough or achievement guide.
This is one of those games I'd love to give a neutral review to but since Steam only let's me give a recommended or not recommended rating I can't do that. Given a choice between the two options I'd just barely recommend it but, only if you really love point & clicks. It's okay but, it isn't great. I'd wait to buy it on sale if you want to give it a try.
A vibrant point 'n' click sporting the most authentic VGA style you're likely to see in a modern adventure, [i]Guard Duty[/i] spans a fairy tale setting and a dystopian sci-fi one to tell a whimsical story that would be right at home on an early 90's PC. It's quite short, as you can tell from my playtime, and the puzzles veer toward simple (the utter lack of brain-busters and game blocks is a dead giveaway it's not an actual oldie), but it's a charming and worthwhile experience all the same. Sometimes the dialogue gets a bit [i]talky[/i] -- I think this is actually because the creators put a lot of thought into their world and didn't want it to go to waste, and I respect that! It would have been tough to express it all through gameplay alone. The long-windedness of some of the dialogues is counterbalanced by the obvious passion of the creators and hard work of the voice actors, who never just phoned it in.
A good solid game. Not too hard; I never had to look for help online. It was straight-forward with a good plot, great characters (all minor) with full voice acting that really fit the genre.

Das Spiel hat zwei Storylines, deren Fäden aber zusammenlaufen.
In dem einen Teil der Geschichte spielen wir Tondbert, einen trotteligen, biertrinkenden, aber durchaus sympathischen Tor- und Schloss-Wächter. Sein Tag beginnt verkatert und denkbar schlecht. Er wird von Bienen so schlimm zerstochen, dass sein Gesicht derart anschwillt, dass er weder verständlich reden kann, noch von seinen eigenen Kollegen erkannt wird. Daher ist die oberste Priorität erst einmal ein Mittel gegen die Bienenstiche zu erlangen, damit man wieder erkannt und verstanden wird. Dann muss sich unser Anti-Held um die Rettung der entführten Prinzessin kümmern. Klar da ist Tondbert genau der richtige Mann für. Wer sonst könnte die holde Prinzessin retten?
Bei der zweiten Geschichte spielen wir tausend Jahre später Agent Starborn. In diesem Cyberpunk-Setting, sind wir der Anführer einer Widerstandsgruppe. Der letzte verzweifelte Versuch der Menschen das Böse zu besiegen, was in dieser Zukunftsversion an der Macht ist.
Irgendwann kreuzen sich die Wege von Tondbert und Starborn. Ihr Schicksal ist miteinander verwoben und sie können nur gemeinsam die Prinzessin und die Welt retten.

Schöne Pixelkunst die den gewünschten Retro-Charme versprüht. In Kombination mit einer ordentlichen englischen Sprachausgabe ergibt das ein gutes Fundament für dieses Adventure.
Am meisten punktet “Guard Duty” aber mit seinem Humor. Ich musste öfter mal herzhaft lachen. Allein der Anfang des Spiels, als Tondbert durch die Bienenstiche derart deformiert und entstellt ist, dass er schlimmer als Quasimodo aussieht und kein verständliches Wort über die Lippen bekommt, das ist herrlich lustig. Da macht es auch nichts aus, dass es keine deutsche Sprachausgabe gibt, da man ohnehin auf Untertitel angewiesen ist. Die deutschen Untertitel sind gut. Natürlich wäre im späteren Spielverlauf auch eine deutsche Sprachausgabe wünschenswert, aber man kann auch so seinen Spaß mit dem Spiel haben.
Klassische genretypische Rätsel runden das Ganze zu einem stimmigen Gesamtbild ab.
Die Spielzeit ist relativ kurz, aber das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr anständig.

A funny, lightweight adventure game, with a charming pixel-art retro approach.
The story is not that unique, not even with the touch of some cyberpunk twist.
I loved Act I and II, but the sci-fi Act become way too easy, and not that interactive, more like an adventure "walking sim".
Anyway, the game is pretty easy, no illogical puzzles, u can figure everything out in minutes.
I would say, its okay, if its on sale.

Sehr positiv überrascht hiervon. Ich hatte hier nur ein kleine Hommage an die alten Adventures der 90er erwartet, aber hinter der anfänglich entspannten Stimmung voller Eastereggs versteckt sich eine deutlich interessantere Story, die mich sehr gut unterhalten hat.
Die Spielzeit ist mit 3 Stunden etwas kurz, die AGS-Engine ist wie immer äußerst retro (wenn auch in der hier verwendeten Version völlig in Ordnung), das Voiceacting ist nicht professionell, aber das ganze hier ist eindeutig ein Werk der Liebe für das Genre und ist sein kleines Geld definitiv wert.
Wer mehr Einstellmöglichkeiten für die Grafik der alten AGS-Engine will, kann Guard Duty btw auch in die aktuellsten Versionen von ScummVM reinhängen, da gibt's dann auch etwas mehr Filter zum Skalieren der (sehr hübschen) Pixelart des Spiels.
A short but sweet PnC adventure game brought down slightly by a disappointing third act. The game would've have been better off if the two narratives were intertwined somehow.
Too much filler dialogue trying to explain the context of things (thank god for the skip dialogue button), even things that dont enrich the plot get a lot of dialogue (like the life story of some NPCs that are inconsecuential).
The puzzles start ok but then they start to get easier and easier to the point that you are only clicking to get on with the plot.
The concept of past and future looked good on paper but seemed like the future part needed to be rushed to complete the game.
Short game (3 to 4 hours). Get it if it is heavily discounted and you dont have anything else to do.

Good old-school point&click adventure game, albeit a bit short.
Short and pretty easy game. The voice acting is cringey at times. The story felt like they had a much bigger game originally planned that was cut down. Graphics were somewhat meh, but I knew that going in. There is an unskippable stream of credits at the end which somewhat annoying...
On the plus side...I did 100% the game first time...so there is absolutely no incentive for me to ever reinstall it again.
This is a good game for a lazy Tuesday afternoon. The story is not overly complicated and the quality of writing is adequate, while some of the monologues can be a bit tedious and lengthy. The puzzles are beginner-friendly.
I love how the developer has taken his time to implement several areas and characters you can interact with even though they are completely irrelevant to the puzzles or story. There is a lot of detail in the graphics which are aesthetically pleasing and retro, although I was a bit disappointed by the design choice of a 4:3 screen, I mean, it surely didn't have to be THIS .... retro.
Recommended for casual players with a thing for nostalgic point and click who can appreciate a wholesome story with some issues here and there.

I was saving this game for a moment when I'd feel I'd need a good point and click adventure game, because I strongly felt this one was good.
I was right!
Light-hearted, with a traditional game design (inventory puzzles, mainly), funny dialogues and well drawn locations, Guard Duty is funny to play. I won't talk about the plot, but what happens halfway through really was unexpected, and I enjoyed it a lot.
This game gives off a bit of old school King's Quest vibes but with it's own style.
I loved this game and recommend it for someone looking for a simple yet enjoyable story.

This was a weird little game. I enjoyed it overall though there were some things I thought could've used work. Sometimes in order to progress the story it seems like you are messing up so don't be too hasty to reload it if that happens. probably took me half the game to figure that out. Also, some of the things you have to do or grab are not very intuitive, and there is quite a few things you can do to literally no point. All in all though that is the worst of it. Still enjoyable overall it was smooth and fluid gameplay. And I like the retro look of pixel graphics myself. All in all I'd say 5/10
Short and nice Point and Click game. Finished it in 4 hours. It has a classic (full of cliches) story, but very playable. I give it a 6/10.
guard duty is fun point and click adventure with a good story with good puzzle not too difficult and not to easy either.
overall a good game for the price i would rate it a solid 8 / 10
It starts out mediocre but in the last third it changes direction completely. The characters and the story in the last third are just atrocious. The voice acting does those characters justice which makes it even worse.
Even without the last third it would be hard to recommend this game. First: the writing is bad all troughout - it just does not matter much in the beginning when there is no story to speak of. Second: the tonality changes constantly between trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to be funny, sincere, dramatic, scary or 4th wall breaking.
If you don't care about the story you should still avoid this game. There is hardly any content aside from the story. There are just a handful a puzzles (in the sense of stuff like: use stick with yarn) and it takes maybe three to four hours to complete the whole thing.
You can take a look at it if you get it for free or at a deep discount. You can also get it for a younger child. The art style is nice, as are the animations.

Das war das schwerste Rollenspiel seit langem.
Warum?
Die Rätzel und Aufgaben sind leicht.
Aber ich lag einfach in jeder Zene flach und hab erst einmal gründlich lachen müssen. Gerade der Mittelalter Abschnitt ist extrem lustig. So richtig etwas um den Frust mal für eine Weile los zu werden. Der Zukunft Abschnitt war da eher nüchtern und Sachlich aber sehr Stimmig im gesamt Konzept. Es stehen einige nicht versteckte, versteckte Errungenschaften zur Erfüllung an. Auch hier wird es nicht so ernst genommen. Erstaunlich gut gelungen finde ich auch das Ende des kurzen Abenteuers quer durch die Zeit. Damit habe ich nun wirklich nicht gerechnet. Aber Spielt doch selber und findet es heraus.

Fine I suppose. In places good.
Nice art. Voicework ranges from pretty good to above average for the genre, so that's nice.
Final quarter or so of the game just feels light on puzzle content and consumed by a single really laboured reference, which means it ends on a low.
Still, SGD$3.50 right now, so worth a few hours of your time i suppose.
Fun and short adventure game with exceptional voice work that pays homage to Monkey Island, Hotline Miami, Cyberpunk, and Metal Gear Solid. Puzzles are decent, not too convoluted or difficult, and make sense all the way through. Story seems basic at the beginning but gets better as it goes. Character development is well thought out. Good visuals and richly developed music to set it all in place.

Hat mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht.
Bietet eine nette Geschichte und lustige Momente.
Das Mittelalter und Sci-Fi Setting sollte sicherlich auch jeden ansprechen.
Man sollte das Spiel in unter 5 Stunden schaffen können, also also auch schön kurz und knackig am Wochenende durchspielbar.
Die Rätsel sind auch zumeist relativ einfach und für den Durchschnittsspieler gut lösbar.
Für mich ideal, da ich sonst schon mal schnell Langeweile in Adventures bekomme, wenn man zu viel Leerlauf hat.
Steam Errungenschaften sind zu 100% machbar, man muss nur dem Penner, sprich Assassinen^^, eine Münze aus dem Brunnen zustecken.
Da das Spiel gerade im Sale war, habe ich für 3 Euro einen super guten Gegenwert bekommen.
Fazit: kaufen, kaufen, kaufen!

This a quick, around 5 hours, point and click adventure. All but one of the achievements are tied to game progress, which lets the player focus on progression. No soft-locks I could find, but finding the missing item or location can be a bit frustrating. So, that's pretty normal for any 2D adventure game. There are more dialogue options than required for game completion, but the best humor is in these non-required dialogue choices. This game does a nice job of wrapping the player into 2 worlds. Overall, an enjoyable escape with fairly low stress.

I loved this adventure game for its story, production, and excellent pacing. It takes the best from the golden era of 2D adventure games and adds all quality improvements of more recent games. The graphics are fantastic large pixel art, the voice overs are great, good characters all around, lots of variety, and the writing and pacing top notch. I didn't mind that it took several hours to complete: I prefer a tight story like this one.
This game is perfectly.... adequate? I mean I'm a huge fan of the PnC genre so maybe my view is a bit biased in one direction or the other, but I cannot specifically recommend this game as a result.
At the very beginning of the game (the first 15-20 minutes of my play time) I was really enjoying the game. The graphics are good, the music is excellent as well, and the humor of the game reminded me very much of the Discworld adventure games. As time went on, however, the puzzles seemed to become more and more sparse and less and less enjoyable.
There seems to be many plots, characters, and places in the game that don't really seem to go anywhere. The advertised conceit of there being two time periods in play seemed interesting in concept but by the time you get to the second time period the puzzles been virtually eliminated from the game.
I got the game on sale and I am *very* grateful for that, as I don't feel that it is worth the full price between the fact I completed the game in a little over two hours and the diminishing enjoyment I derived from the game after the prologue chapter was finished.

* Gráficos pixelart preciosos. Este punto es sin duda lo mejor del juego. Me hace acordarme de Simon the Sorcerer o Discworld
* Decente voice acting, aunque no sobresaliente
* Referencias a otras sagas y juegos con buen gusto (A veces metidas con calzador, eso sí)
* Permite manejar a dos personajes con diferente gameplay, aunque tampoco es que varíen mucho
CONTRAS:
* Muy fácil
* Muy corto
* Historia muy simple
* Me chirría el tono comedia con el que empieza y como pivota completamente a una historia convencional sin humor. Me parece un guión desarrollado a lo largo de un tiempo y sin hilo. Creo que alguien no acaba de definir lo que quiere contar.
Lo recomiendo en cualquier caso porque se nota que está hecho con cariño, y aunque sólo sea por su pixelart. Además, suele estar muy barato en ofertas (Ya de por sí lo es)

It's very charming, right up until Act 3, when all the sparkling kind dialogue and puzzles are jettisoned for an exposition-heavy slog through a linear plot in the Grim Future, and an ending that leaves everyone standing around while offscreen NPCs wrap everything up. Feels like there was a cut fourth act that would have involved the second protagonist doing more (or anything!) in the past.
Still, it's *very* charming before all that. It just could have been an all-time classic instead of merely a pleasant afternoon's diversion.
Guard Duty is absolutely charming! Intuitive puzzles, very good storytelling, very nice and funny characters, great British humour. I’m amazed by the quality and hard work on the animations and detailed background. It’s such a delight to play this game. The French translation (my first language) is also very nice. Highly recommended!

The graphic is good, but the puzzles are rather boring to me and the story is also not fun.
A game that wears it's central theme on it's sleeve. W/o spoilers, that theme is resilience in the face of adversity and seeing things through to the end. The plot is certainly original, the voice acting is surprisingly good, and the puzzles are pretty logical if a bit easy to figure out. The one drawback is the inability to combine items in your inventory a staple for adventure games (it automatically does it for you through contextual interactions).
The length of the game is a bit on the short side, and if you’re looking for a meatier game you may want to consider the “book of unwritten tails”, however for the $10 price point, it’s a solid adventure experience.

C'est un bon jeu de click and point, un de ceux qu'on aimerait voir plus souvent.
Le jeu est drôle et l'ambiance générale (sonore graph etc) se tient bien .
Le texte est en français ce qui est top ^^.
Voilà je conseille ce jeux, il est court environs 4 heures en prenant sont temps et en lisant tout ce qui se trouve sous le pointeur :-)

Pros:
- Throwback, retro art style and makes snarky references to other games.
- Is definitely a point-and-click game.
Cons:
- Too many references to other games feel really out of place.
- The further in you get the more it feels like someone made a game based off of their "original, do not steal" fiction that wasn't intended to be a joke or parody like the rest of the game was trying to be. Every character you talk to has the option to ask them about their personal history and many of these tend to go on for MINUTES describing places and people that do not exist in the game or are even referenced at all other than when you ask the same question to another character. This type of "heavyhanded storytelling" is very distracting, very frustrating, and had me clicking through large portions of dialogue because I didn't want to suffer through having them read it out to me when it had no relevance to the story I was actually playing through (and certainly wasn't amusing or funny like the game was trying to do with the rest of it).
- Is definitely a point-and-click game. With all the failings that come along with that, including the solutions to puzzles that involve items you wouldn't have normally been able to guess without just trying everything, or having seemingly obvious solutions that don't work because they weren't the intended solution, and the one I personally hate the most, letting you pick up a lot of extra items and then emptying your inventory after you pass a certain point to leave you wondering whether you missed interactions and can't go back or if those items were just there as a distraction.
Overall, this is probably about a 3/10 because it committed too many narrative and gameplay sins to really be funny as a joke game, but has too many jokes to be taken seriously.
I don't remember what I paid for this but I know I got it on sale, and I wouldn't really recommend anyone to spend time on it even if you got the product for free.

A charming little love letter to the point and click adventure genre. Has quite a lot references to other P&C adventure classics. The riddles aren't too hard as long as you follow the pretty obvious hints (and the in game list of open tasks =D).
Tonal Whiplash would have been a better title for this game as you switch back and forth constantly between melodrama and kid's humor. The game is fine overall. I only had to look up what to do next one time near the end. Story was ehh, but it didn't really overstay it's welcome. I've paid twice as much for worse point & click games.
