I played this game A LONG time ago,but I am deciding to write a review now.
The first time I played this game was when I had a hunger for games like Undertale.I loved Undertale and wanted to play something similar to it.and while looking around the store,I found this free game.
The game was short,very short...But oh boy.
I had too much fun playing this game.
The game is simple,too simple really.But it was exactly what I needed to play back then.
I finished the game and looked at every other ending on Youtube.
It was peak.
I recommend this game to ANYONE that wants to play a chill game that has a great story in my opinion.
I was kind of tearing up when I finished the game too.(Yeah I get emotionally attached to any single game I play lol)
Overall:Great game. I'd give it 9/10.Not 10/10 due to the fact that it was too short.
But great things dont last long.

Grimm's Hollow é um daqueles jogos indie que surpreendem muito mais do que aparentam à primeira vista. Apesar do visual simples, em pixel art, ele consegue criar uma atmosfera encantadora e ao mesmo tempo levemente sombria, que combina perfeitamente com sua temática.
Um dos pontos mais fortes do jogo é a narrativa. A história acompanha Lavender em uma jornada emocional pelo além, e consegue equilibrar momentos leves com temas mais profundos, como perda e aceitação. Mesmo sendo relativamente curto, o jogo entrega uma experiência marcante e bem construída.
A jogabilidade também merece destaque. O sistema de combate é simples, mas tem mecânicas interessantes que evitam que ele fique repetitivo. Além disso, a progressão é fluida, permitindo que o jogador avance sem frustrações desnecessárias.
Outro aspecto muito positivo é a trilha sonora, que complementa perfeitamente o clima do jogo ora relaxante ora melancólica ajudando a reforçar a imersão.
No geral, Grimm’s Hollow é uma experiência charmosa, emocional e bem executada. É um ótimo exemplo de como jogos independentes podem entregar histórias envolventes e memoráveis mesmo com recursos limitados.
i played the the game twice and i think got all of the endings and it was pretty good i just wished it was more longer than it should've been but all and all a 10 outta 10 game would recommend to everyone

Игра похожа на Undertale, но все же больше на Deltarune. Боевка хороша, но из-за быстрой прокачки ты не успеваешь увидеть все скиллы. Древо прокачек имеется. Не понял слегка систему уклонов - жал на клавишу, но урон проходил.
Сама по себе игра несложная, по мере прохождения ты получаешь имбовую еду, не давая себе отрубиться)
Сюжет душевный, рекомендую все же читать, а не пропускать диалоги!)

After dying, Lavender wakes up to find she is now one of Reapers - immortal beings whose work is to reap in combat ghosts - dead souls that didn't pass to afterlife and now go crazy. Moreover, she discovers her little brother Timmy is a Ghost, and if she keeps him hidden from other Reapers and their boss, Grimm, and reunite with his soul, she could bring him back to life. To do that she will need to traverse ghost-filled caverns near Reaper's town, titular Grimm's Hollow, defeating Ghosts in jrpg-style battles, using energy gained from it to icnrease her statistics and gaining new special moves, this being able to take on even stronger ghosts.
One look at Grimm's Hollow and you can almost feel clear inspiration from Undertale and its spiritual predecessor, Earthbound. While the topic of the game is pretty, pardon the pun, grim, the game is coined in wholesome aesthetic, accompannied by mostly cheerful music, as serious moments opt to not have music at all. It is also fairly short, I managed to get two endings in under 3 hours of time and you can literally stumble into final fight too early, getting bad ending fairly quickly. The story is lacking the multiple-choices and dilemmas of Undertale, but it instead is laser-focused on telling simple, and concise story, with characters who have much more firmly established personality than a vessel for the player. As such I feel safe describing it as a "streamlined" take on this style of gameplay.
It is in some quiet moments when Grimm's Hollow shines the most, when the characters get to stop and reflect and we get to experience relationship and love between Lavender and Timmy, that the game shines the most. It is a simple, simutaniously sad and wholesome story about love, grief and moving on, that may either warm your heart one evening... or stab you in it. Depends which ending you get.

incredibly interesting short little game! Only took me about an hour to beat the game(the other 30 minutes were spent grinding after beating it to max my spirit, which I'll get to) The story is super interesting but honestly I felt like there was so much more to be explored in this world. It just left me wanting to spend more time in it to explore and meet more inhabitants. Having more unique characters being challenged by various aspects of their situation could've been so fascinating but what is here is already great, so I can't really complain about it. Also it's free! Play it! Also the art is so cute and everything is so nice and it's just so fantastic. I played on casual and the amount of SE you needed was honestly a little nutty, I'll come back to it eventually to see at least one other ending but I really was considering just watching the other 3 on youtube. Regardless, phenomenal little experience that is 100% worth giving a shot!

It was friendly and totally worth my time, not only was the story good but the combat and such parts were also unique and really fun. Totally a must play if you have free time or just want to jump into something.

Here are the NEGATIVE parts:
- You can't walk diagonally (jesus christ, please fix this)
- The story is okay, but neither captivating, nor particularely interesting
- The combat-system is totally unbalanced. Even in the mode for "experienced players", you'll probably never die after a certain point. It's very balanced in the beginning, but gets unhinged fast.
- Combat-scenes only have one real "minigame". Either you need to dodge, or you do nothing. Gets repetative quickly
- The game is pretty short - got though it in 2.5 hours
- Personally, I don't like these ultra-bright color-themes. Gives me a headache. But it does fit the story
Here are the POSITIVE parts:
- It's free
- The graphics are nice
- You can apply different strategies in combat, adding a bit of puzzle-game-mechanics
- You can save/load any time
- There is a variety of enemies with various tactics/attacks
- The naming of the enemies is quite clever
- Secrets in the map are possible to spot without reading guides
All in all a decent game with a lot of potential. I'd rate it 6/10 atm.
The setup/idea is great, just needs more details.
Especially the story is unique and extremely promising.
It just feels empty at the moment, not because of its length, but its shallowness.
Would love to see this game improving in the future.

Apesar de não ser exatamente meu estilo de jogo, é realmente gostosinho. Consegui zerar em 4 horas e normalmente demoro a concluir os jogos. Ele é bem mais historinha do que gameplay em si mas no geral é uma boa obra. Não espere nada UAAAU GOTY mas pra um jogo indie e curto está ótimo.
Boa trilha sonora e não tive nenhum bug ou glitch.

Вполне неплохая рпг мейкер игра, я даже бы сказала замечательная. Поможет скрасить вечерок, т.к. проходится за часа 2-3.
Боевая система просто шик, прикольная механика, да и не особая пошаговая (что в силу своей малой наигранности вижу впервые и радуюсь). Прокачка? Ну вполне неплохая, не шедевр, но и треш.
Сюжет также неплох, история прекрасная и всё прочее. Но совсем на эмоции не пробивающая, да просто потому что вываливать все проблемы и переживания героя в паре диалогов идея не супер. Хотя одна из концовок очень атмосферная, да как и сама игра.
Графика также интересная, где-то даже напоминает Омори мне, хех
Игра бомбезная, если бы стоила рублей 100-200 я бы спокойно её купила, но она стоит... бесплатно, не могу поверить, что это бесплатно, поэтому пойду куплю артбук
This is the game that convinced me to give RPGs a try as someone who was convinced I sucked at games too much to be good at any of them. One of the most memorable parts of my high school career was playing it when I couldn't go home.
This game was so much more than I had expected. It wasn't long or hard to play but my goodness I loved the story. The combat is pretty simple RPG style. The pixel sprites and the characters are all well crafted and to be honest -- took me by surprise. I love the care that was put into this game~! Great job! <3
Muy buen juego y buen soundtrack para las ocasiones, te entretiene el hecho de mejorar todas las ramas que hay dentro del centro de habilidades, una historia la cual no falla, las pequeñas bromas que hay son buenas al interactuar con los personajes e incluso en la misma historia, el arte de cada enemigo es increible junto con la imaginacion para crearlos, la unica falla que habria serian pequeños bugs de aveces el personaje moviendose donde sea, pero se arregla facil guardando y cargando la partida
PD: Para los que juegan en laptop conecten un mouse, hubo un pequeño error y no me deja usar el mousepad de la laptop pero de ahi el juego es increible

Emotions are difficult things to deal with. It's often easier to just ignore them, or to try to push them away. But in the end, that only ever hurts us more. It's okay to be sad or hurt, it's natural. And even if you don't believe it, you can find people who will care for you. (There are four different endings, if you can, I recommend going for them all, it's not much extra time and I'd say it's definitely worth it)

Beautiful game: good OST's, good character designs and backstory, STUNNING visuals and atmosphere, it was a really good game overall. It took me 2 hours to do both endings, and as a person who doesn't really play RPG's, it was easy to figure out. I highly recommend if anyone is looking for a short, story-based game. ♡

I played this game in 2021 and I honestly don't fully remember my reaction to the ending but I'm glad I decided to replay it now. I cried my eyes out at the true ending and I honestly needed that. This game might be simple and repetitive with the battles but I didn't get bored at all! You should totally play it, it only takes around 2-3 hours so its a good game to start and end if you're feeling that itch!!
Beautiful game based on the idea of what happens after you die. The combat is simple, there's unique enemy variety with convincing designs, a solid sound track, great atmosphere. It's surprisingly eerie while also being sad at some points. 10/10 I wish the best for these creators and I hope to see more of their work soon.

La verdad es que el juego es muy bueno y muy lindo, no dura mucho pero vale la pena cada minuto.
No me gustaría compararlo con otro juego... Porque me parece que está muy bien como para hacerlo... Pero es inevitable pensar en el Undertale al jugarlo, teniendo mecánicas y un estilo de juego similar. Y poco mas, obviamente juego muy recomendable.

Um jogo bem bonitinho e cativante, com uma gameplay simples e direta, mas extremamente divertida. Apesar de ser curtinho com cerca de 3 horas de duração consegue entregar uma história interessante e emocionante. A narrativa toca em temas delicados como luto, maneiras de superá-lo e relações familiares, fazendo com que você realmente sinta o peso das escolhas que o jogo oferece.
As artes e a trilha sonora são outro ponto fortíssimo. Ambas são únicas e se complementam perfeitamente, criando uma atmosfera marcante. Mesmo com poucos cenários e ilustrações, o que é apresentado já demonstra que, se o jogo fosse mais longo, cada novo ambiente e cada nova música manteriam esse mesmo nível de identidade e qualidade.

O jogo é muito bonito e a gameplay é bem divertida.
Eu não costumo jogar muito esses jogos que você precisa entrar em algum tipo de combate e ir fazendo melhorias, mas mesmo sem saber jogar muito esse tipo de jogo esse não foi nada impossível ou muito difícil, você consegue entender e aprender o que fazer bem rápido.
A história é muito boa e bonita, além de emocionante. Achei muito interessante a maneira como jogo resolveu trazer o tema do luto. E os visuais, as cores e a trilha sonora, além de muito lindos e bons, conversam muito bem com a narrativa e o clima do jogo.

Esse jogo conseguiu me fazer chorar e rir ao mesmo tempo, com seus diálogos profundos, bonitos e com piadinhas. É um jogo para jogar direto, sem pausas, do começo ao fim. My favorite game! I have played it around four times, and I have cried every time. This game radiates comfort to me, and the colors are so nice. I have told everyone I know about this game, and I still come back to play it again. I wish there was a sequel, or a follow up game, maybe as Grimm on his morning shift? Even if there's never a second game, I adore this and it will be forever my favorite game.
