Разработчики уже во второй раз отказались от подзаголовка TOCA. А в этой части и от подзаголовка Race Driver, если кто-то конечно помнит эту серию в целом. В детстве мы многие пробовали эти игры, а в Steam их по моему даже и не было никогда, не знаю.
Отличительная особенность это физика, и здесь Codemasters представила собственную разработку под названием TrueFeel. Эта система задумывалась как попытка создать золотую середину. Управление должно быть достаточно отзывчивым и понятным для новичка, который играет с клавиатуры или геймпада. Я играл в эту часть только на клаве. В принципе все это можно назвать удовлетворительным\приемлимым. В этом плане GRID 2 гораздо ближе к аркадным хитам вроде Need for Speed, но если честно, мне здесь управление и все это нравится больше. Codemasters намного сильнее, чем ЕАшные говноеды, по крайней мере сейчас и на момент выхода игры.
Прогресс привязан к количеству фанатов. Вы набираете популярность, участвуя в заездах, заключая контракты со спонсорами (чьи логотипы приходится клеить на капот) и выкладывая эффектные повторы в YouTube (необязательно) прямо через внутриигровой функционал, что для тогдашних времён было весьма прогрессивно.
несмотря на внешнюю красоту и динамику, кампания получилась неброской, а отсутствие полноценного тюнинга (только смена окраски и наклейки), лишает игру важной составляющей кастомизации, которая была даже в старых NFS. Несмотря на это в игре очень приятно проводить время. Солидный автопарк и детализация машин, картинка необычная, хоть и со специфическим фильтром. Игра из разряда "повзрослел-полюбил".

Do dziś trzyma wysoki poziom i warto nadrobić ten tytuł.
Kampania jest gdzieś na tyle godzin ile piszę recenzję, bo tylko ją grałem, ale nie ukrywam,
że chciałbym jak za dawnych lat i jeszcze na innym koncie steam pościgać się z ludźmi multiplayer.

Yo lo recomiendo, pero lamentablemente ya no se puede comprar. El juego igual es divertido.
El juego está bien, una vez que sabes controlar la principal mecánica que es el derrape no es un manejo tan aburrido como puede parecer al principio y lo digo así porque al principio no me convencía la conducción. Tiene buenos gráficos, los logros ayudan para ir avanzando con la historia que es mas o menos parecida a la del primer GRID, quizás más elaborada, una pena que ya no estén a la venta estos juegos.
Спустя много лет решил перепройти данную игру и решил это сделать на руле. После прекрасного и драйвового Race Drive Grid (тоже пройденного на руле на максималке) Grid 2 - это ... Максимально странно.
Физика игры просто странная - то машину так и норовит сорвать в занос, даже на прямой или легеньком движении руля, то во время заноса её сразу выпрямляет.
Баланс машин - ну тут отсутствует для многих классов. Особенно в последних гонках, Agera всех дергает со старта.
Поведение ботов, ну тоже своеобразное. Пока все боты в пелотоне тебя тормозят, один единственный бот пытается оторваться (иногда получается, если взять неудачную машину, условно худшую в классе, играл на Very Hard, может на других уровнях другое поведение). Ладно бы 3-5 ехали бы в быстром темпе, но почему 90% времени - один?)
Самый же худший момент в игре - режим дрифта. Ладно еще это физика, на всех трассах, кроме Окутамы, терпимо, но то как считаются очки дрифта...при быстрой перекладке игра просто игнорит твой занос...и это бесит прям очень сильно.
Жаль конечно нет нейтрального статуса для отзыва, но в моем случае, негативных моментов так поболее все же будет.
P.S. Ну и еще Ravenwest нет и Nathan McKane, так что смело можно считать это даже не Grid)

good games are difficult but fair, something that cant be stated about this garbage
other cars are basically immovable objects while they can push you around like a feather,
you vill be pushed off the map at the outside of a corner losing valuable seconds and then when you manage to come back on track the game will slow you down for 3 seconds because "corner cutting"
and that is just one of the many fustrating things about this very bad game.
you most likely picked this up for free but if you value your mental health dont even bother with this, its not worth it

С одной стороны - просто гоночная игра мечты, которая умудряется быть аркадной, но требовательной, красивой, приятной визуально и тактильно, оставаясь оптимизированной под самые простенькие системы.
С другой стороны - предельное однообразие происходящего просто портит всё впечатление.
Новый этап карьеры - прежние заезды. Снова унылое игровое меню с ворохом переходов, комментариев, ракурсов, вкладок, роликов, сообщений вместо простой и шустрой системы выбора.
В целом, играется отлично, конечно. Глупо бычить.
Но осадочек остаётся.

It's really a shame this got de-listed. It's an enjoyable, beautiful, easy to control, if somewhat repetitive racer.
Edit: Plus, you can drive WITH THE D-PAD. I don't know of any other 'modern' 3d racer that does this. I love it for this alone.

Recommended? Yes. One of my favorite racers? no, not even close. But it is well made.
Just simcade is not my thing. I prefer full arcade racing.
I can almost feel the weight of the cars going into corners, very sim.
I turned off the damage having effect on the cars' behaviour, 2sim4me.
If you like these things, this game is definitely for you.
Enginesounds are meh, very generic.
The campaign is satisfying, fun and challenging tracks, AI kind of braindead sometimes but challenging later on. I play this on medium.
One thing that grinds my gears about this game is that when you tap the rear of another car, your car most likely spins out to the right. Like that's the default consequence no matter what. Or an opponent hits you and your car gets into a spin. A lot of resets happen because of these things.
But I enjoy this game enough to keep going and I like the style.
No longer available on the Steam store but there are plenty of cheap keys still available on websites.

It was a great experience, pretty cool single player career mode. Was surprisingly challenging toward the end! Nice stylized graphics that aged very well, insane damage level on cars. The audio is good, with some ambiant music when the race is about to finish, it's pretty interesting and adds to the atmosphere. Pretty good car list. Perfect racing game for the Steam Deck, I was able to play from start to finish no issues at all. My favorite is still the first one, it was a little more in-dept in some aspect that I really liked, like the team management I feel it's little dumbed down in this one for some reasons, and almost no cutscene at all make the game feel a bit less engaging to me, and the handling is inconsistent and can be somewhat frustrating but overall it's a good arcade on-track racer, which we don't have enough today (2026)...

It feels like you race on the same 5 race circuits (one city, one desert, one tokyo city like, Cote d'Azur and a 5.)
Only once or twice you drive on a real racetrack in season 4

Balanced cars are a nightmare to steer
some races are too long (7mins ones) while others too short (not even 2 mins)
To think it came out 6 years after Racedriver grid is unbelievable and makes you think codemasters was an indie dev back then.

Tak takto: Rozhodně dávám GRID 2 10/10. Je to rozděleno na 5 kapitol postupně si upgajdujete svou Garaž, jsou tam paradne modeli aut (jako je například CORVETA, FORD PAGANI, KOENIGSEGG, NISSAN ...) Rozhodně doporučuji! Pokud si to chceš koupit, ale není to už na STEAMU tak nevahej! Dá se totiž sehnat klíč, který aktivuješ ve STEAMU, přidá to GRID 2 do knihovny a můžeš to stáhnout. Existuje totiž spousta stranek, kde se dá klič koupit. To je nyní jediná možnost jak GRID 2 ziskat!!

I just completed the entire career mode on my Steam Deck OLED, and this is a fantastic arcade-style racing game that has held up remarkably well.
Even though it's delisted and can't be bought on Steam anymore, if you have it in your library, it's absolutely worth playing. The sense of speed is thrilling, the "TrueFeel" handling strikes a great balance between sim and arcade, and the event variety across different continents keeps things fresh.
Performance on the Steam Deck (OLED model, running SteamOS) was flawless. I installed the game directly to a Micro SD card and experienced no crashes, stutters, or compatibility issues, it just worked. The vibrant colors and deep blacks of the OLED screen really make the visuals pop, and the jaw-dropping damage model still impresses.
I didn't chase all the achievements, but the main campaign was satisfying and challenging enough. It's a shame it's no longer available for new players, as it's a high-quality, aggressive racing experience that feels perfectly at home on handheld PC hardware.
Verdict: A polished, exciting racer that remains a great playthrough, especially on the Steam Deck.

For those who are looking to get into the series for the first time or have never played a Codemasters game, GRID 2 is a pretty decent starting point. Compared to something like Juiced 2, it doesn’t have that flashy, festive vibe (like mixing a legal setting, TV shows, and vinyls in the spirit of hardcore street racing), but the racing itself feels different yet familiar. It’s one of those rare cases where the developers found a good balance between fun arcade action and something that feels like a real racing sim.
Visually, the game still holds up pretty well even years later, especially considering it came out in 2013. The car lineup is solid, there are plenty of modes, and most importantly, the cars actually feel like real vehicles, not plastic boxes. All-wheel-drive cars handle appropriately, and the drift cars are genuinely built for sliding around. For its time, the physics are as well-executed as you could expect in this kind of game.
But by the middle, the career starts to really crush and drain you. The main problem is the insane repetition. Tracks just loop around in every new stage: sometimes the same location gets used three times in a row, with only a slight extension at the end of the race. There’s also not enough flexibility in the settings — this isn’t GRID (2019), where you could tweak the difficulty in detail. Here, there are only four presets, and they behave pretty specifically. On medium settings, there’s almost no challenge, but switch to hard and the opponents become like Terminators. If they pull ahead at the start, catching up is almost impossible, no matter what DLC cars you’ve got in your garage.
The real excitement only kicks in by the fourth stage, when the tracks get narrow and sometimes moderately long. But that’s when the game’s little quirks start to annoy: the flashback/time rewind system is confusing. By the later stages, they make you hop into hypercars like Bugatti or Koenigsegg, which break at the slightest nudge against a barrier. The rewind mechanic at the start of the game basically makes the races feel childish, taking away any real tension.
The progression system also feels weird. Instead of regular currency, there are these so-called 'fans,' and it's unclear what effect they actually have. Car customization is limited to paint and vinyl, and even then it's pretty basic. The DLC situation is really frustrating too: paying for a quarter of the cars that you can't use in career mode or in the dead multiplayer feels sketchy. On top of that, the game hasn’t been officially translated into Russian yet, though there isn’t much that even needs translating. Plus, you can't currently buy it directly on Steam, which doesn't help. Still, overall, GRID 2 is a solid experience. Despite all its flaws and the drawn-out moments, it’s definitely recommendable for fans of the genre.

Get ready to suffer: the game is hard and require a lot of perfectionism to master every turn. But it makes you excited when the effort pays off.
The UI is bad: confusing set of screens and features, poor cars management UI, no clear sings of completed events, and so on.
