A really enjoyable cyberpunk point-and-click game. It really reminded me of flashback which was a childhood favourite of mine. The story is fantastic, full of twists and turns, and it delivers a satisfying ending. I loved the overall atmosphere of this one it’s dark, gritty, and enhanced by beautiful rain ambience throughout many sections.

I couldn’t stop playing and ended up finishing it in just a few sittings. The combat sections are abit janky but I thought they were surprisingly fun though the inventory management was confusing at times, and I had to look up a guide more than once to figure out how to progress.

Overall, the voice acting and storytelling were excellent and the game flew by for me.

Nunca es tarde para una buena aventura gráfica, además si es con una historia de Ciencia-ficción cojonuda aun más.

Que decir que no se haya dicho ya, si te gustan estos tipos de videojuegos pues juégala ya.

Solo tiene un punto negativo y es que está inglés (aunque hay traducción no oficial en español) y que hay veces que es difícil encontrar un objeto en el suelo que te hace falta y no ces porque la resolución de hoy en día hace que se vea todo con pixelotes que hace a veces indescifrable lo que hay en pantalla.

Gemini Rue’s ending could have been better. The way it wrapped up and tried to be philosophical didn’t really resonate with me. Sayuri’s final choice felt rather selfish, leaving Azriel in an uncertain state.

Overall, it has a great atmosphere and music. The voice acting is decent, though some performances come across as a bit flat. Gameplay-wise, the mechanics are weak, and both the puzzles and combat feel clumsy and tedious.

I'm sure that there's an interesting story, but I can't keep fighting the game to find out. After 3 hours of pixel-hunting, fighting a terrible inventory system, slow un-skippable movement and repetitive actions that lead nowhere and that sometimes are timed, I think I've seen enough.

I know this is old-school but a journal would save hours of back-and-forth, and trying to remember what was I trying to do and why can't i open the door i previously used. It's such a slow, dreary, and quiet drag, and I've had enough of it.

Gemini Rue is a tight, moody sci-fi noir that punches well above its weight — the dual-protagonist story kept me hooked right up to the twist, and the Blade Runner-esque atmosphere drips from every rain-soaked pixel. The voice acting and Nathan Allen Pinard's synth-heavy soundtrack do a lot of heavy lifting, selling an emotional depth that the low-res art occasionally struggles to convey. The combat sections are clunky and a few puzzles had me pixel-hunting with a walkthrough open, but these are minor annoyances in an otherwise compelling package. If you can appreciate a well-crafted narrative over flashy mechanics — think classic LucasArts spirit with a Philip K. ♥♥♥♥ soul — this is absolutely worth your time.

Un juego modesto en medios pero ambicioso en ideas. He de decir que es una aventura que se juega con bastante fluidez. Su dificultad es media–fácil, los puzles no generan grandes atascos y la historia avanza con un ritmo constante y bien medido. No se alarga innecesariamente y, en unas 6–7 horas, ofrece una experiencia cerrada y coherente, algo muy de agradecer hoy en día.

Narrativamente, el guion está muy bien construido. A través de dos tramas paralelas que se van entrelazando, el juego reflexiona sobre la identidad, la memoria, el control institucional y la deshumanización. Los diálogos son sobrios, funcionales y coherentes con el tono noir, sin exceso de explicaciones ni grandilocuencia. No es un juego de decisiones narrativas, pero sí de comprensión progresiva del mundo y de los personajes.

En cuanto a los puzles, predominan los de entorno, deducción e investigación, con un inventario reducido que evita combinaciones absurdas. Todo está bastante bien integrado en la narrativa y no se perciben puzles de relleno. Existe, además, un pequeño componente de acción con tiroteos en momentos muy concretos. Este añadido resulta interesante a nivel conceptual, ya que refuerza la sensación de peligro y vulnerabilidad, pero su implementación es algo torpe y probablemente sea el aspecto más discutible del juego. Afortunadamente, estas secciones son escasas y no empañan el conjunto.

La construcción del mundo es uno de sus grandes aciertos. Aunque no es un universo extenso, cada espacio tiene una función narrativa clara. Los escenarios asociados al detective Azriel son sucios, oscuros y decadentes, mientras que las instalaciones donde se desarrolla la trama de Delta-Six son limpias, asépticas y opresivas. El espacio cuenta historia sin necesidad de palabras, y eso habla muy bien del diseño.

A nivel artístico, el pixel art es sobrio y efectivo. No busca deslumbrar, pero sí transmitir una atmósfera fría, melancólica y deshumanizada mediante paletas apagadas y una iluminación siempre artificial. La animación es sencilla pero funcional, y la interfaz cumple, aunque algunos sistemas de consulta de información podrían ser más intuitivos.

El apartado sonoro acompaña con discreción. La música aparece solo cuando es necesario, dejando mucho espacio al silencio y al sonido ambiental, lo que refuerza la tensión y la incomodidad, especialmente en los segmentos más opresivos. El doblaje es correcto y profesional, con un buen contraste entre la voz áspera de Azriel y la neutralidad casi mecánica de Delta-Six.

Para terminar, Gemini Rue es una aventura gráfica muy recomendable para jugadores que busquen una experiencia narrativa madura, contenida y reflexiva. No es revolucionaria ni pretende serlo, pero ejecuta muy bien sus ideas y construye un discurso sólido sobre identidad y control con medios limitados. Un juego que ha envejecido sorprendentemente bien y que sigue siendo una elección muy sólida dentro del género, especialmente para quienes disfrutan del cyberpunk más introspectivo.

It is a decent game... but I found it too basic. It is basic cyberpunk. The point and click gameplay doesn't utilize moon logic, but pure logic; you find a new piece of data, you use a terminal to find a location, go to location. Getting from point A to point B can feel like a slog at times. The gun fight mechanic is... fine. It took a bit to get used to.

One of the better point and click games I've played where the string of logic for the puzzles is consistant throughout didn't once have to look up a walkthrough, It was made by one guy whos passion for this type of game shine through so I'm being lenient especially the clunky combat sequences, yeah there a pain but are possible but considering this is trying to feel like a 90s point and click I give it a pass . Story kept me invested with some twists and turns, some didn't like the endgame but I enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed the Cowboy Bebop easter eggs.

I'll get the good out of the way first:

[*]The inclusion of an "action" set piece in a P&C game that requires the player to shoot from cover is innovative and doesn't overstay its welcome.
[*]The game has full English VO which is competent even if the actors can't agree on how to pronounce the planet name Barracus.
[*]There are a few twists in the story. Some will catch you off guard and others are predictable if you are paying attention, but it's nice that the writer tried something a little out of the box.

The bad:

[*]The pace of the game is absolutely plodding (both the plot and the character walking speed), made worse by the small number of locations that are revisited over and over. I learned to hate the elevator in Hibiscus Tree Apartments with a passion during my play through.
[*]The story has nice twists, but its philosophical angles around identity, our memories, and what makes us the individuals that we are falls incredibly completely flat because it all comes in a great rush towards the end instead of being explored throughout the plot.

For me the cherry on top was when one of the characters drops the following line in the epilogue:

Gemini Rue is an underrated classic. While I haven't experienced many of the point & click games, this one is the one that got me into these types of games. I replayed this game for the third time now and it still manages to throw all expectations out the window.

The plot: you play as two different characters, the first one being Delta-six, who is trapped in a portal like rehabilitation center. His memory has been wiped because oh his escape attempt. There is a mysterious man telling him that to get out he must complete exams. Then he will let Delta-six out. Other test subjects advice to not do these trials.
The other playable person is a cop named Azriel. His story is set in a dystopian city and he is trying to findout where his long lost brother went. You will meet a lot of interesting characters who all expand the scope of the world a way or another. On his story you get to know a lot about the world of Gemini Rue. There is a lot of twists and turns and while the premise of the story might not sound interesting it is totally worth your time. I don't want to say too much about it as to not spoil it.

Gameplay: It is your standard point & click game. You interact with objects by clicking, who would have guessed? You can look, touch, talk and even kick stuff. There are even shooting segments thrown in, which are a little challenge but nothing too hard. The puzzle solving is really satisfying, to be honest. You might get stuck once or twice during your playtime, but I recommend that you don't use walkthroughs because you get much more satisfaction by solving where to go and what to do by yourself.

Presentation: Im a sucker for the pixel art, so of course I like this. Like, look at the screenshots from the game page, now aren't those some beautiful looking pixels. The sound design and music fit the aesthetic of a dystopian crime city in city. It has synth music with some jazz thrown in. There is also some scary music that fits the space theme. In some parts, it makes you feel lonely.

Final verdict: After playing through this I was shocked at how connected to the world and story I felt. This is how art is supposed to be made and I can't think of anything bad about it. Maybe one thing is that I got stuck at few moments, but that wasn't a problem for me. I hope this review might help you decide wether you want to play it or not.

It is the only game from Wadget Eye I could not finish. I quit at half the game. Too dark, too grey, too dull, too depressing. Maybe it is just me...if you take the dystopian post apocalyptic thema you have Resonance, Technobaylon, Virtuaverse or Primordia which are all much less desperate and fun in comparison. I just could not...there is really no hope in this game, and this is boldened by the solitude of your character which is all alone, always. The prison part already put me down with its sad puzzle and crazy elevators and doors...

Definitely recommended. Good atmosphere despite the lower budget (boosted by the excellent voice acting and music), very interesting story and logical puzzles (see, adventure games and logic can really go hand to hand if you make it so), decent playing time. Reminded why I love this genre.

The story is interesting, and could be really good if expanded on. The actual mechanics of the game, however, were extremely clunky and difficult. I spent more time fighting the UI than actually trying to solve puzzles or enjoy gameplay. An expanded version of this game, with slightly better graphics (though I do love the style), and massively improved UI would be amazing, but as it stands, it's not very good.

A simple story with some cyberpunk elements. Definitely meant to be replayed at least once after the initial time to get all the nuance and to see the branching decisions (which don't alter the story much, just extra stuff you either get to see or not). Nice rumination on nature vs nurture.

The pixel art is nice and nothing is too difficult to make out but this is certainly stretching the art style's abilities.

I played it on steam deck and PC and I while the game is meant to be played on MnK, I think the touchpads on the SD can be adjusted to work well.

There's certainly a "pace" to this game per-say. Nothing moves as fast as I wanted it to. Sometimes clicks won't register because an animation hasn't completed and sometimes the game simply isn't responsive to player choice. I certainly had to look up a guide to find my way out of some paper bags, sometimes the developers created one path to move the plot along and sometimes that path isn't intuitive. I think this is the developer's 1st or second game and it's a commendable effort but it is clear, more testing was needed.

Great but sparsely applied music, solid story in a moody Blade Runner-esque future. Voice actors are audibly reused here and there, but mostly good. Pixel art is surprisingly low rez and at it's worst moments this is another point and click with occasional pixel hunting. The shoot outs will bore some but are doable if you pick the right tactics. At the latter stages it's just wait until all enemy shots are fired (same number every time) then get out of cover and shoot immediately once an enemy moves, then duck back. Most of the puzzles are very logical but still challenging so it's satisfying to make most of the progress on your own. Some may find the interaction clumsy since you have to keep choosing if you choose your hand or foot but it's fine. The finale is a bit bleak but very satisfying.

I really cannot recommend Wadjet Eye games enough. Go play the Blackwell series (Joey's voice is Kane's voice here) and Kathy Rain! They are so good because you rarely get stuck. I'm going to look at the other ones soon.

This is a good point and click with a reasonable story and mostly decent puzzles, but it does highlight an issue of associating the publisher (Wadjeteye games) with a certain level of quality. Since playing this it seems apparent that not all of their games are produced by the same people, and so you can't rely on their brand name alone.

Overall there's a lot to recommend here, at least in terms of the game-play mechanics and puzzles, which are generally excellent. But whilst it has an intriguing narrative it doesn't have the strongest writing compared to their other games, and it lacks the oomph to deliver on a big idea.

It's a Noir-ish thriller with elements of 'Total Recall' and aims for a grand level of drama through a future setting and mild sci-fi elements, along with supposedly thoughtful explorations of consciousness and existential questions. Unfortunately it's stronger as a concept than it is in the final execution.

Another defining feature of this production is how ugly it looks, with loosely drawn backgrounds that are lacking in variety of colour. Not only is it unappealing to see, but the low level of detail and absence of bright colours can make some of the puzzles harder to solve due to an item you need being lost in the visual mess.

On the other hand the voice-acting is mostly decent enough, so it's very much a case of swings and roundabouts on the presentation side. Sounds good, looks horrid and doesn't quite deliver on its narrative potential, with a standard of writing that is merely passable.

Bar a few puzzles where they're a tad obtuse in the solutions, this is mostly quite satisfying as a mental exercise. With a range of mechanics to solving them that goes from detective work to item use and combinations, to utilising other active people around you. This is a clever game, which makes it a mild pity that not all of its aspects are as polished as the game-play.

The story it has to tell is engaging, but it doesn't hit as hard as it should, and to be frank, the game looks pretty appalling graphically. I do still recommend it based on the strength of it being a stimulating work-out for your brain, but there's plenty of areas where it is a bit lacking.

I can’t say I disliked Gemini Rue, but it’s far from great. Since Steam’s rating system is only "yes" or "no," I’ll have to give it a "no"... even though it’s not actually bad!

Whether you like Gemini Rue really depends on what you expect from an adventure game. If you like the interface and pacing of early Sierra titles, you might enjoy it. The story is solid and comes with a twist (though it’s a bit predictable). The graphics are very grey and muted, which fits the noir setting, but some areas are so low-res or blurry that you’ll be pixel-hunting just to find what you can click on.

My biggest gripe is the controls and interaction system. There’s just too much unnecessary clicking, and it can get frustrating. For example, opening a door… the simplest thing in any point'n'click game

You can speed things up slightly by pressing escape to instantly move into position, but that’s literally adding one more step to the list above…

The music is great when it plays. Some tracks fit the mood perfectly, but most of the game is completely silent (you can still hear the ambient noises) except for key story moments, which is a shame. Voice acting is also a mixed bag. The actors did a solid job overall, but some lines fall a bit flat due to various pops and clipping of the recordings.

Puzzles are generally simple and in most cases you will know what to do but, as mentioned, you might struggle while pixelhunting for all the items on the screen. Pair that with some backtracing and the clunky right-click-everything-first interaction menu, and you should get a clear picture of how this game works. I do like the "action" part they tried with actual shooting and reloading. It can be frustrating at first until you notice the enemy patterns, but once you "get" it, it's easy. Just don't get lured into headshots as it's very tricky to time and you have more than enough ammo to just keep shooting.

tl;dr – If you don’t mind clunky controls and can appreciate a game that clearly shows the early days of Wadjet Eye, give it a shot. Otherwise, check out their later titles, which are noticeably better.

The story is engaging and intriguing. I really love the dualism between Az and D6 - it's a classic theme, but feels completely fresh.

I had a great time playing Primordia a ways back and decided to see what else Wadjet had in their inventory. Found this little gem and gave it a shot because of an interesting dystopian cyberpunk setting and glorious reviews. I was not disappointed. After finishing the game and listening to the developer commentary I understand it started as a student project and is basically a one-man developed game. Very well done. The setting was interesting, the music was atmospheric, the story twisted and turned and the riddles were just the right kind of hard. Actually stumped me a few times, but that was more of a "didnt check that as much as I should", not the riddles being cryptic. It has its flaws and is not as good as Primordia, which is basically a masterpiece, but it was damn good for what it was. I was invested from start to finish. Kinda reminded me a little of Beneath a Steel Sky, and sometimes even The Dig. All in all a good time. I give it 5/5 Boryokudans.

A Wadjet Eye game that's on the shorter side, and it's a bit too repetitive. However, if you want a Cyberpunk/Blade Runner-esque game, this should be right up your alley. Also no developer commentary from Dave Gilbert! There's nothing wrong with the guy, but he sure loves to yap.

There are two objective truths about this game: first, it has a strong story with a captivating Blade Runner-esque atmosphere; second, its low budget undermines the overall smoothness of the experience. Each player's enjoyment depends on which of these aspects resonates more strongly with them. As you can tell from my downvote, I found the technical shortcomings more prominent than the narrative strengths. I won't lie: to say this game felt very tedious is an understatement. That said, I can see why it has achieved a kind of cult status despite its flaws, and I respect what the developer has created.

Beautifully crafted game in every aspect. The story is great and nicely developed…puzzles are compelling and challenging…visuals are amazing. Recommend

Ok, damning-with-faint-praise time: it's a testament to the strength of Wadjet Eye's output that this is my least favourite game from their catalogue but it's still actually quite good. It's a neat sci-fi thriller that is not at all shy about its influences (Blade Runner!! Cowboy Bebop!!). However it also comes with a wealth of common point-and-click-adventure annoyances like timing puzzles and a completely out of place combat & death system. It's ambitious and its wonderfully moody & noir but ultimately mixing a LOT of things that you don't commonly put into point-and-click games into one sours the finished product a bit too much. It's well worth a playthrough but keep your expectations reasonable.

I'm recommending the game, but only just. I have heard a lot of positive buzz about this game, so was a bit disappointed when I finally got around to playing it. It's obviously a small-budget one-man-band game, but that's not an issue for me personally. The story is good and interesting, and definitely the strong suit of the game. It wears its influences on its sleeve in a way I personally find quite charming as well.

However, it does suffer from a lot of typical adventure game trappings. Part of it is the game's age- it came out before people realized things like pixel hunting were dumb and avoiding that became more standard practice- but there are some that I find to just be poor decisions. There are a number of puzzles with poor signposting or weird leaps of logic that make them frustrating to solve, and that combined with some pretty nasty bugs in the last 3rd of the game left me actually pretty checked out at the end, just following a walkthrough to see the story resolve, which I always hate to do with these kinds of games.

In fact, the game took me a couple attempts over a few years to actually sit down and finish, as I kept getting annoyed at it and going off to play other things. Still glad I did stick with it, though.

Another early Wadjet Eye release. I want to recommend this one, but I honestly don't feel like I can due to the amount of things that were either fiddly or annoying.

The game is a really slow start off the bat. The initial setup didn't really hook me, and it wasn't until a couple hours into the game where it started fleshing out the scenario that I got any kind of invested. Despite being a sci-fi game, I feel like this was written by someone who's not all that interested in the genre. The planet you're on for most of the game is no more advanced than modern day Earth, and when talking about space they make the "solar system / galaxy" mistake which annoyed me to no end throughout the game.

There's also just a general lack of characterization or charm in the story. It feels like the story was written backwards from the twists, and the writer felt as if any characterization early on would be pointless. For example, we know that Azriel was an assassin that betrayed his organization and turned himself into the police and became an investigator himself. However, we don't learn the particulars of this incident at all. There is a thematic and narrative reason for this, but I feel like it ultimately weakens both not to flesh out who the characters are supposed to be. Unlike other Wadjet Eye games, this one doesn't really have a sense of humor at any point, and that honestly made it a little dull in my eyes. A little levity here and there would have been much appreciated to balance out how dreadfully serious the game takes itself the rest of the time. Technobabylon did this a lot better.

The gameplay is really where the game falls on its face, though. Now, the puzzle design is actually not too bad. There are a couple instances of extreme obtuseness, but nothing so bad as The Dig. However, there is way too much gunplay in this adventure game. Yeah, you read that right: gunplay... in an adventure game. These sections are just annoying an potentially highly frustrating since if you run out of ammo, you have no choice but to poke your head out and get shot to death. Like I was saying in the review for NORCO, I typically detest combat sections in adventure games, and this is the kind of thing I was talking about. The combat is never going to be as good as what is in a game specifically designed around those elements, and it's not the reason I'm here so I'd rather devs just not even try to put those kind of sections in their games. Cause at the worst you get this where killing enemies is a fiddly process, and if you die, the checkpointing is really bad so you'll probably have to repeat not only the combat but at least one section with a timing puzzle.

I know this game is like 14 years old at this point, but I really don't think it's worth going back to. Wadjet Eye has developed and published much better games in the meantime.

Gemini Rue is a point-and-click adventure game that mixes science fiction with a very well-constructed noir atmosphere. The story is engaging and makes the player want to discover more about the characters and the world. Although the graphics are simple and pixel art, they fit well with the tone of the game. The soundtrack and vocals also help a lot with immersion.
On the other hand, the gameplay is sometimes a bit clunky, especially in the shooting parts, which aren't very fun. Some puzzles can also be confusing or break the pace of the narrative.
Overall, Gemini Rue is a great game for those who enjoy good stories and don't mind some technical limitations.

leaving this review for people who liked, shardlight, strangeland, hobs barrow and felt like they wanted to go back and try some of the older stuff from wadjet.

It pains me to leave this negative review, because the publisher clearly went on to do great things, but I just want to ward off people who, like me, have gone to play this because they loved some of the more recent titles in the genre.

The game was frustrating, the story was average. Just leave this one in the past.

Really sorry to write this review, because I love this genre, and am very fond of the wadjet, but I feel like ive wasted my time and money on this title to be perfectly honest.

Gemini Rue is one of the best AGS games out there. The gameplay is point-and-click as you'd expect from an AGS game - with the addition of a gunfight mechanic, which can be a little clunky, but doesn't detract too much.
The biggest plus about the game is how well-realised its world and story is. THe atmosphere gives off serious Blade Runner-vibes, and the story is well-paced and well-told. You may or may not see the plot twist coming from a mile away.

The biggest drawback is that some of the puzzles can seem a bit obtuse. I had to look up a walkthrough once or twice - one if the times was just due to me being dumb, but the other was due to the game phrasing things in a confusing way.

So yeah, puzzles are hit-or-miss, but play it anyway for the fantastic world and story!

game is so old school i saw better graphics on my atari 65xe. I think they made it so ugly on purpose. That's why it's somtimes difficult to find an object to interact. Got stuck copule of times because of that. Anyway i fnished it. And the plot is nice. Actually wanted to quit but the plot kept me going. Yeah it was awsome. Hope there will be part 2.

Ayant adoré la série Blackwell, j'ai suivi de près les autres productions de Wadjet Eye Games. C'est ainsi que j'ai découvert Gemini Rue, un jeu distribué par Wadjet Eye, mais créé par un auteur indépendant, Joshua Nuernberger.

Tout comme dans la série Blackwell, l'écriture de Gemini Rue est excellente, avec un scénario captivant et des personnages bien développés. L'histoire se déroule dans un futur dystopique, au sein d'une société répressive et autoritaire... Je n'en dirai pas plus pour éviter de dévoiler l'intrigue, mais si vous appréciez les jeux d'aventure point & click et les récits bien construits, vous pouvez foncer sur Gemini Rue les yeux fermés.

Another fun budget retro style point-and-clicky adventure produced by Wadget Eye. The soundtrack is amazing, but then again... so are all of Nathan Allen Pinard's.
The game itself isn't too hard (the occasional pixel search) and reminds me of 'Beneath a Steel Sky'. I think the creator mentioned somewhere in one of the commentaries that he used Blade Runner as an insipration for the game's setting, though I don't get any BR vibes out of it. Technobabylon gave those vibes, but that's a different game from a different author.

That was a really good story.
Grim, sad, cruel but also hopeful.
Atmospheric soundtrack, good dialogues. Logical puzzles. Good, reflective dialogues.
Very nice epilogue, they took their time to close the story without a rush, a feature that I highly appreciate. Who wants to spend a few hours on a game that has a rushed ending?

CONS
I had to use a walkthrough sometimes, because I didn't notice an object on the screen. So yes, there is some pixel hunting.
Whenever there are doors, you have to open them, which is pointless because there never is a moment where you actually find something useful on the door or behind it.
You have to be close to an object to take it or use it, or else your caracter will say: ''i have to get closer to reach it'', which is also annoying.

But it was their first game or at least one of the first, and when I consider The excavation of Hob's barrow which is pretty recent, there are none of these tedious elements there, they learned and imroved making the gameplay very smooth.

I enjoyed it overall! I recommend it if you like a good noir post-apocaliptic story with some plot twists

Gemini Rue is an interesting adventure game. I enjoyed my time in it, the story is interesting, the characters as well and it wraps up on a bittersweet note. I did liked the theming as well, being it a dark and more gritty adventure. You can die here btw. Though the game is fair enough to put autosaves before such sections.

However while most puzzles were good to solve, despite some increasing difficulty, some puzzles are... very weird. E.g. you can and -have- to climb on a "hole"... i mean, the logic is definitely interesting here. Luckily these spots are rare, but expect to take a look at a guide when you get really stuck, since these spots can be very tricky to figure out (I at least couldn't lol).

Overall though, i can recommend it. I had a good time and the very few points where i got stuck are neglectable. If you want a interesting, dark, scifi Adventure game: You're definitely at the right address.

Wadjet Eye firmasını sene hala 1992'ymiş gibi piyasaya sürdüğü Point & Click Adventure oyunları ile tanıyoruz. Gemini Rue sanırım firmanın ilk oyunlarından biri (ya da ilk oyunu) ve bir bilim-kurgu adventure. Firmanın daha sonra yayınladığı harika Technobabylon'u hissiyat olarak andırıyor ancak onun kadar güçlü bir oyun olduğunu söyleyemem. Bu tabii ki kötü bir oyun olduğu anlamına gelmiyor, aksine karşımızda artıları eksilerinden epey fazla olan bir oyun var.

Öncelikle hikaye çok iyi. Plot twist (olmazsa olmaz) çok çok başarılı. Beneath A Steel Sky'ı fazlasıyla anımsatan görsellik ve atmosfer çok iyi. Bulmacaların büyük kısmı tatmin edici ve Wadjet Eye'ın daha sonra piyasaya sürdüğü bazı "kolay" adventure oyunlarına göre daha iyi. Seslendirme ve müzik firmanın diğer oyunlarındaki gibi, yani gayet güzel, zaten genelde aynı ekip ile çalışıyorlar.

Oyunun zayıf noktalarına gelecek olursak... Öncelikle "aksiyon" kısımları son derece gereksiz ve de anlamsız. Sanırım Blade Runner (oyun olanı) tarzı bir hissiyat yakalamak istemişler ama olmamış. Neyse ki bu kısımların zorluk derecesini aşağı çekebiliyor ve fazla vakit kaybetmeden bu kısımları geçebiliyorsunuz. Diğer bir kötü yan oyunda iki karakter arasında geçiş yapabildiğiniz kısımlar ile ilgili. İkinci karakterin macerası (her ne kadar hikaye için kritik önem taşısa da) monoton ve biraz sıkıcı. Sonlarda toparlıyor ama o kısma kadar biraz bayıyor. Neyse ki diğer karakterin macerası son derece sürükleyici de oyunu bırakmadan ilerleyebiliyorsunuz.

Son olarak kontroller ve arayüz biraz hantal ancak kritik derecede önemli olduğunu söyleyemem. Firmanın ilk oyunlarından biri (ya da ilk oyunu) olduğunu düşünecek olursak normal, sonraki oyunlarda geliştirdikleri bir gerçek.

Oyuna 10 üzerinden 7 verebilirim. (Final biraz daha iyi olabilirdi) Wadjet Eye'ın Blackwell Chornicles (ismi bu muydu?) oyunlarının hepsinden bana göre daha iyi. 90'lar başı Adventure oyunlarını sevenlere kesinlikle tavsiye ederim.

I love the idea of a point-and-click detective game, however Gemini Rue falls flat in execution.

At the heart of the game is the dialogue and voice-acting, however it is so abysmal and cardboard that it makes the story you’re trying to piece together hard to follow. Some of the conversations you have are outright laughable.

The point-and-click mechanics are clunky at best, with shoehorned combat mechanics that further detract from the heart of the game. Cut scenes replace player-driven actions to the point where it feels like an animated movie with quick-time events. Two concurrent story-lines mean there's a B plot that a player must endure before returning to the story of interest. Two plots may work well for television or cinema, but it removes the fun part of this game: continuous agency.

The world feels very small and it gets repetitive very quickly. I wanted to see decision trees, consequences and rewarding payoffs, but after 5 hours of playtime, I got too bored to even bother finishing it.

I'd give Gemini Rue a thumbs in the middle but just slightly leaning downward. It's not terrible by any means, but the plot, which is aiming for that Blade Runner-esque sci-fi and noir crossover, never truly grabbed me. And as other reviewers have mentioned, there's the occasional clunkiness when it comes to the interface that can be annoying. However, Gemini Rue's biggest sin is the 'action sequences'. The developer looked at the Tex Murphy games and said: "yes, let's include the absolute worst part of those games in ours too". Why?

If the classic point and click adventure is your favorite genre and you just need another fix, this will tide you over, but I can't help but feel there are dozens of better options on Steam you should try first.

Gemini Rue is one I picked up a number of years back and put down, but I'm glad to come back and play it through last weekend. This game has great vibes and an awesome story! I think the story could start with a little more explanation, but so long as you search every little thing you hear and see in the consoles you'll pick up on a lot of the story. I sadly waited till the end to see much of the backstory of the world. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game, even if my playthrough finished with the assistance of a guide. I was taken by surprise at many of the ambient events happening in the background of environments of Azriel's story, making the game feel more alive. I did encounter one bug with the Easter Egg Characters not showing up where they were supposed to, but that's okay. I'd like to go back and play the commentary which hopefully then they'll spawn.

I have come back to this game twice trying to give it a fair try. I like the setting and the story is interesting, I have played and enjoyed other Wadjet Eye games (Techno Babylon) so I expected similar quality with this one. This is an earlier game (The first?) put out by Wadjet though and it kinda does seem a bit rough, The voice acting is one of the biggest complaints in that regard.

I ended up deciding this was not worth continuing because the awkward gun-fighting parts seemed to be a bigger and bigger part of the game play and I hated it.
I have mentioned in other reviews for adventure games, I HATE quicktime action sequences like these in point and click games, so if you are not as put off by that, you might actually enjoy this game. The gun-fighting is the main reason I decided I was over it.

Seguimos los pasos de Azriel Odin, un detective que se encuentra en un planeta desconocido buscando a alguien importante para él. La trama es pura ciencia ficción con tintes oscuros, muy en la línea de Blade Runner. Lo interesante es cómo se desarrolla la historia, llena de sorpresas y cambios inesperados que te mantienen atento en todo momento.

Mantiene el estilo clásico de aventuras gráficas. El aspecto visual evoca la nostalgia de las viejas aventuras de los 90, con gráficos pixelados llenos de detalles. Cada escenario y cada personaje están muy bien trabajados, creando una atmósfera que te atrapa. El estilo gráfico me parece un acierto total, aunque reconozco que puede ser algo impactante para los que no están acostumbrados a este tipo de juegos.

La ambientación es otro punto fuerte, calles lluviosas, callejones oscuros, laboratorios solitarios y todo rodeado de un aire de melancolía. Todo está tan bien logrado que no hay duda del cariño y esfuerzo que se ha puesto en cada aspecto del juego. En cuanto al sonido, la banda sonora refuerza ese ambiente sombrío. Las voces en inglés están bien interpretadas, añadiendo un toque extra de realismo a los diálogos.

En resumen, si te gustan las aventuras gráficas y el ciberpunk, Gemini Rue te va a encantar!

PD: Aunque el juego está en inglés, hay una traducción estupenda que me ha dado cero problemas durante toda la historia.

It lacks one point due a bit miscalculation between the verbs, the logic and the items in the game. The game is fantastic overall!!

I played this game for a few years ago. Then I forgot if I have played the whole gameplay, so I started playing again a few days ago. It seems that I started remembering things in the final scene while the main character got his memories erased for the last time. It is as if my memories were wiped by Center 7, and then I got them back in the end of the game, haha! What a paradox!

Great point and click adventure game, a gritty noir science fiction in a similar tone to the original Blade Runner movie. Challenging puzzles in places, not overly obscure solutions most of the time but not obvious in a way that will leave you feeling like there was no point in it being there at all. Overall I found it very satisfying, the puzzles don't interfere with the story, the story is compelling enough to get you through any of the puzzles that might take you a bit of messing about with.

I found the interface tedious. You have to click two or three times to do something which should take one. I'm also not a fan of the bits that require doing things quickly and the combat.
