I’ve spent some time playing this game, and the first few hours were genuinely fun. 🎮There are plenty of mechanics, a lot of different levels, and various options to play around with — everything feels fresh at the beginning. The visuals are pleasant, and the performance is great too, running smoothly without any issues ⚡

After a couple of hours, though, it became clear that the game doesn’t really offer anything new. The levels start to feel repetitive, and that early excitement slowly fades away. Overall, it’s a nice game to enjoy for a short while and relax with — just don’t expect it to keep you hooked for too long 🙂

Given positive review by late [u]TotalBiscuit[/u] (devs uploaded his entire video on their Steam page), I was tempted to try it for a long time.

After 9 years of progress in roguelikes and roguelike ARPGs, this game feels substantially "less". Content is light and recycled, balance feels off for heroes, card system is too RNG based, and "Live" feature doesn't work.

That said, this game feels good to play moment-to-moment. It is fun beating the minions and heroes has decent kits that get greatly powered (if Card RNGesus works in your favor).

A reboot with completely thoughtout mechanics and less RNG reliance could actually work in today's market.

하지만 기본적으로 얻을 수 있는 재화는 매우 짠데, 카드 깡 재화 비용은 쎄고 영구적인 스탯 증가가 달려있는

업적들은 하나같이 거지같이 어려우며, 그 거지같이 어려운 이전 목표를 깨지 못하면 다른 업적이 뭔지 보지도 못합니다.

여기에 더해 난이도 곡선 때문에, 다음 맵 넘어갈때마다 기믹은 늘고 적 몹의 깡스펙은 터무니 없이 높아지는데

그럼 그걸 버티기 위해선 기본 영구스탯 증가가 필연적인데 그 업적 달성시키는게 스트레스만 쌓이고 헬입니다.

성장 방식만 바꿨으면 갓겜이었을 텐데 그게 아쉽네요

Hi,

Basically it is a topdown arena fighting game. There is almost nothing special about it. Skills are basic, arenas are basic, classes are basic, enemis are basic, bosses are basic, the gameplay is a loop you do the same all the time. The only great aspect would be the narrating of the game, the presentation.

This game does everything okey-isch, it is definitely not a bad game but there is not much special about it.

Underrated. Though not a stellar game, it has some forward thinking concepts for its time relative to the timeline of the rogue-lite / deckbuilding indie scene. It has been a quickly evolving genre, however, I still have not seen the exact formula that Forced Showdown employs in any other game. Will be worth a look for some. Wait for sale probably.

If there was a neutral option, I'd pick it.

Gameplay loop is simple and fun enough. Although I am about to type a METRIC load of stuff, it's really simple in practice, I promise. Pick a Program (Level), pick a hero, beat Battles (Stages) comprised of 8 Arenas (Zones) to fight the Arena Boss. Each Battle has 1-5 unique mechanics that can add or subtract enemies. Some are fun (Necromancer resummons people you kill!) and some are obnoxious (Blind Prophet hides your cards. Wow, I love playing blind!). Similar to Hearthstone, you get 1 Mana per Arena which you can spend to play cards in your deck. Mana refreshes per Arena for the most part, so having a nice mana curve is advised. A cool mechanic introduced is that the boss at the end of each Arena has their own deck, so they play cards that affect the arena.

Win ~2-3 battles (they may vary depending on the Program, the details are fuzzy since I've been stuck in the DLC maze hell-zone) and you'll eventually fight the boss at the end of the Program of which there are 3, with 1 extra in the DLC. Pick enough Points and you'll gain access to a Boon, which stays with you for the duration of your run. There's also an ascension mode if you're interested in that. After you win/die, you are given gold per boss killed which you can use to spin the gacha wheel to get cards. If you get duplicate cards, they are turned into "Shards" which you can use to guarantee a card unlock of a certain tier.
Because of the strange gacha system for cards, it starts off boring, picks up as you get more cards, picks up even more when you can make your ideal deck, then sharply nose-dives if you plan to hunt for achievements. Would say around ~20-30 hours of my 83 hours of gameplay were stuck "improperly" doing achievements.

My main gripes are:
-Achievements (listed on Steam) do NOT indicate that they are stage locked (example being the no-hits are locked to the third stage, I HATE NO-HITS AAAAA). This normally wouldn't be an issue, were it not for the fact that they are somewhat tied for progress, varying from gold to Boons. I get it, old game, but it's still soul-crushing to think you did a hard achievement only to be gaslit into thinking you failed it.
-Said achievements are obscured by question marks. They're unlocked by winning a Battle (maybe just playing?) so you couldn't even know the info above initially. Thankfully Guides exist, but WOW that sucks.
-Achievements range from a cake walk to CRAZY challenges like "Win a Battle without personally destroying any barrels" (the stage is flooded with them), "Clear 3 Arenas in a row without taking damage," and my beloathed, "Beat a boss without taking any damage," not as a single achievement, but 3 SEPARATE ONES FOR EACH CHARACTER (No-hit once with each character, in case it was confusing).
-The gacha grind for cards is pretty obnoxious. [spoilers]I would suggest using Cheat Engine to skip that part, really saved a lot of time.[/spoiler]
-All the characters kinda suck, in regards to personality/voicelines. It's grating listening to them after a while, but I'm a bit bitter from achievement hunting.

Overall, worth if on sale and don't achievement hunt unless you enjoy suffering.

[spoiler]Secret CHEAT gamer strat (courtesy of "iwansquall" in the discussions, YOU'RE A LIFESAVER): You can alt + f4 before dying to restart the last stage you played. Works in all Programs, in case you want to efficiently achievement hunt. [/spoiler]

I will never give a thumbs up on a play until you lose game design. You lose so many points from me by doing that. Cheap way to build a game I guess, but in more than one way. Literally feels like a rip-off to me though. The card game aspect isn't really like a card game either. You draw a card per battle, which usually offers some small boost. It has a mana cost as well which you accrue one per battle increasing your mana limit. But the system is implemented like any other random skill choice system. It wasn't even necessary to make it card style. It was just a lot more work on the dev side with no gain. The mana and bonuses gained are reset every few battles until you beat a boss. And that's the game. It's so boring that I'm bummed I got excited to play it. If I didn't pay $5 dollars for it, I would have returned it without hesitation. However, I'm going to keep playing hoping to find a reason to change my review because I want to like this game.

He de reconocer que el royo de repetir y repetir una y otra vez el mismo nivel para poder avanzar y llegar mas lejos no es lo que mas ilusion me hace en este mundo y por ello no le voy a dedicar mucho mas tiempo a este titulo, pero he de decir que es un videojuego muy buen conseguido, con un apartado grafico muy bonito aunque no sea ni mucho menos de ultima generacion, y que las mecanicas de juego me han encantado. La pena es que no me gusta repetir contenidos de forma masiva. Pero he de reconocer que es un buen juego y si ofreciese otro modo de juego, quizas sin tener que repetir todo tantas veces para poder progresar y avanzar, lo jugaria sin pensarmelo dos veces. Por supuesto, recomendadisimo si este tipo de juegos son lo tuyo. Tiene pinta, por lo poco que he podido probar, de ser un juego de calidad y bastante disfrutable si es de tu gusto este tipo de titulos.

A game centered around replayability. You set out on a "program" that consists of a number of battles and earn gold based on how far you manage to get and how well you do. The gold can then be spent on buying card packs that unlocks more options for building decks for your 4 different characters. The decks themselves are used in each battle and each battle is divided into 8 stages (arenas) where you draw and play cards at the start of each.
There are a lot of neat mechanics here to keep you occupied as you try to beat harder and harder challenges while also trying out new builds. But replayability and randomness also has a backside eventually.

Me encantan los juegos roguelike. Amé Binding of Isaac, Hades y Cardinal Quest 2. También me gustan los juegos de cartas como Slay the Spire. Este juego es ambas cosas, pero a mi criterio no desarrolla ninguna de las dos adecuadamente. En vez de ser difícil da sensación de ser injusto y frustrante, en el sentido de que es super fácil hasta que de repente entrás a un nivel y está tan plagado de amenazas que es practicamente injugable. El sistema de cartas es aburrido, así como el modo de su obtención. El menú para diseñar los mazos es muy incómodo: en lugar de ver todas las cartas, hay que ir cambiando páginas que muestran pocas de ellas en cada una. El juego en sí parece poco pulido y como si todo esto fuera poco, es antiguo pero no sé si está mal optimizado o qué pero igualmente exige al ordenador en ciertas situaciones y se puede laguear un poco.

It feels like a mobile game given lame desktop controls.
The mobs are a pain to clear, which is the majority of the game. The boss often have very small attack windows that you have to trade hits with but not every character have ways to mitigate dmg that quickly, so you are forced into covering the weakness somehow...
And then there's the grinding and lootbox. You don't get to buy cards you like, you draw them. And it's not like you'd always get enough points for a draw either. Then rules for challenges sometimes are too much, and honestly they are more annoying then fun, while some challenges are better but others are worse. To show how bad the design is - you don't know what the challenges are the first time you see them, you just have to guess what they do because there's no tooltip showing what they are.
The combat isn't fun, the lootbox system doesn't feel fun because it doesn't really trigger the dopamine rush, and the grind is slow. Interesting concept but the execution is meh.

One of those games I just had to buy twice (I have 30+ hours on GOG). It's an amazing action game combined with a card mechanic and works great, similar to the rogue-lite genre. It doesn't have a story or anything like that, its just pure top down melee/ranged intense combat. A MUST have for anyone who enjoys some good old fashioned arena brawls.

Forced was a neat indie Coop-game and Minion Master WAS a long time favorite of mine before the battlepass changes. Forced Showdown looked very promising combining the best of Forced & Minion Master - or so I thought. Sadly the game is unplayable on controller and thus also on steam deck because any directional input from a controller gets somehow slowed by 80% or so.

The game has neat ideas but bugs like the input lag won't be fixed because the devs abandoned the game quickly after launch. Thus online features like daily quests don't work anymore making the progress in the game extremely sluggish. Loading times are silly long even on a quick NVME. The game has some neat ideas but ultimantly it was abanonded before it was really finished. Even not worth your time and money on a sale imho.

This has to be one of the most fun roguelites out there. It has a focus on humor and this bombastic announcer, but that isn't anything and it's just kind of a flair in the background. The action is good, more than serviceable and actually enjoyable by itself, but the main element is that you're building your character up RPG style, though much more rapidly, with cards. Each level in the gauntlet, which there are many and more get unlocked as you go, you get more "mana / land cards / whatever the resource is for a card game" than you did the previous level, and can spend them using cards that you draw at random from a deck you've been building up throughout the game. You can also spend your "mana" on healing yourself if you need to and lucked into having drawn that card, or some other "right now" things you might want. There's a wide variety of cards and your character can get pretty powerful if you get some lucky pulls or build your deck so that always happens.

I played as the Ravager most of the time who has a quick dash ability and a long-range leap attack. It was kind of like choosing the Interceptor as your Javelin in Anthem-- it is clearly the option that is the most fun. As you can see in the video the other options are much more plodding and cautious, while Ravager is your dodge-flip-massacre character like Interceptor was. It's probably not as pronounced of a difference as it was in Anthem, where Interceptor was so much more fun than everything else that if you played it is was actually an exceptional game, instead of dog ****, but if you're really not feeling the game I would recommend going into Ravager heavily before you give up on it.

I always have this game installed because it left such an impression that I regularly want to come back. I haven't because I always have to buy something new instead of playing what I have in that first-world-consumer short-attention-span way, but it's always nice to have a good fallback game sitting around.

(I remember getting this from Chrono.gg in the coin shop before it rebranded to Nexus.gg)

Game was sitting in library for a while. Decided to play it. Upon launching, game booted up normally but simultaneously sent me an error. No Sound/Music, weird. Thinks "game should be fine, my specs are enough for this 2016 game". Tried running as Admin, change compatibility mode. Same result.

Went into character select, ignoring the crash error. Model doesn't even load and eventually just stops responding. Decided its not worth playing if it can't work properly. Sees no one playing at time of review.

I can't recommend at all. Game doesn't even run properly for me. Dont buy. Look somewhere else.

Massively underrated game. It's easy to look at it as another roguelite with card/deckbuilding mechanics. But the thing that makes it great is the combat mechanics are actually really good, and the playable heroes feel completely different from each other. Sometimes you get a cheap arena that's tiny with no room to move around and increased enemy spawns due to bad RNG, but otherwise it plays very well.

Is difficult as ♥♥♥♥, and even if you achieve to defeat a boss, your rewards are none, you can play an arena and in the next one you'll start from 0, if this is a roguelike it fails, because you don't feel you're progresing at all, is just defeat a boss and start over, rinse and repeat.

같은 회사의 FORCED에서 나왔던 캐릭터 소스들을 재탕하여 새로운 규칙을 적용하여 만들었는데
개인적으로 이게 훨씬 더 재미있습니다.
코옵류 퍼즐 게임을 하고싶다면 FORCED를 선택하시고
덱빌딩도 하면서 노가다로 코인 모아서 카드도 모아보고 로그라이크 슈팅게임을 하고 싶다면 이걸 하시면 됩니다.

장점
여러가지 장르를 섞었는데 신선하고 재미있습니다.
마지막 보스 전에 데미지 증가 카드 딱 쓰고 딜할 때의 쾌감이 장난 아닙니다. 물론 그 카드가 안나올때가 훨씬 많지만..
타격감이 조금 있는 편.
컨트롤 연습에 약간의 자신감을 줍니다. 적이 계속 스폰되는 것 빼고 적의 패턴은 단순한 편입니다.
카드 뽑는 재미..

단점
가끔 맵 조합 그지같이 나올 때 있습니다.
그리고 맵을 들어가야 맵 규칙을 읽을 수 있어서 뭐가 불리하고 뭐가 유리한지 초반에 모릅니다.
카드를 뽑기 위해서는 노가다를 엄청해야하는데 수급할 수 있는 동전 량이 그렇게 많지가 않아서 상당히 많은 시간을 소요합니다.
덱 압축을 위한 드로우 카드가 좀 부족한 기분이고 컨트롤까지 요구 되어서 게임에 많은 능력치를 요구합니다.
당신이 캐주얼한 게이머라면 이 게임을 빠른 플레이 타임 내에 깨기 힘듭니다.
적 캐릭터 디자인이 몇판 돌면 다 아는 몹일 정도로 다양하지 않고 전 게임 리소스 고대로 가져다 쓴거라 부족한 느낌이듭니다.
맵 시드도 적은 기분입니다. 계속 똑같은 컨셉인 배틀 맵 왔다갔다 하는데 심심한 느낌이 듭니다.

전체적으로 봤을 때 전편보다 훨씬 속도감도 있고
카드 게임 특유의 랜덤성이 부여되어 있어서
각 판마다 승리를 기대해볼 수 있는 좋은 게임이라고 생각합니다.
운도 게임의 상당한 부분을 차지하지만
게이머의 컨트롤도 비슷하게 게임의 큰 부분을 차지하는 것도 나름 재미있었습니다.

Mmh. I guess it's alright, but I just really don't feel like going back to playing it after I had a bit of fun with it for 2 hours. It just felt slow to play and in general just wasn't that fun to me, so I couldn't recommend it to other people, either. Sorry!

This game is a good idea, I like the principle of combining ARPG with deckbuilding. However, it seems like old flaws of deckbuilding games are still there : farming to collect card.
I like deckbuilding game (and RPGs) for theorycrafting and trying out builds, but :
- This game has not a lot of classes/spells available, so basic build crafting is a bit limited.
- Process for getting new cards is pure RNG, so you have to farm a lot to get them.

If you like both deckbuilding and ARPGs and have time and like to farm, you will probably like this game a lot. Since I don't like farming and I don't have time for it either, I'll just pass.

the gameplay itself is good but it feels so empty and soulless. Why am I even playing this game or caring about these arenas? I wouldnt even call this a roguelike game, the buffs you accumulate only help you during a single arena. I mean that's not what roguelikes are about, you're supposed to constantly ramp up and up and up until you become ultra strong. This game never ever gets that feeling, it's more like a fixed arena game where you have to win with a certain amount of buffs. I dont like it that much

this game is fun for a few hours but comes repetitive and stale. combat isnt that satisfying and the rng is annoying. the pros is the game idea is pretty cool. the graphics and enemy designs as well as the level environment and attention to details is cool but not much there to keep playing just feels like an incomplete lacking game. at least for me not my type of game 6/10

The tutorial is maddeningly difficult: use a slow-moving character to chase down and kill monsters, some of whom have ranged weapons. You are too slow. You cannot dodge the ranged weapons. Perhaps, with luck and cleverness, you can dodge behind a corner. Perhaps not. That slow tutorial character is FAR too slow to be effective.

If this is what the rest of the game is like, I'm out.

100+ HOURS. Its one of those quick arena games you will return to or play between those big games you play more often.

Just wish there were more characters and bosses but its fine for what it is. Card system works great allowing lots of flexibility in combat. Love it.

This game was fun! It combines action RPG, roguelike and trading-card elements to create this very cool mix of fantasy frantic gameplay. There are a lot of little nitpicks I had that would make this game a lot better, but I think they would be better off getting all of that stuff done in a sequel at this point. That being said, it is a bit of a product of it's time, with all the trends of 2016 combined into one. But as long as you're into that, this should be a fun time!

The game is decent and has potential, but the developers have abandoned it. A lot of the online features such as daily quests don't work anymore and there are no updates. I'd recommend getting it on sale as its pretty fun but not worth the full price.

Forced Showdown combines action roguelike and deckbuilding elements very successfully into a unique experience.
You fight your way through shows of varying difficulty composed of randomly combined arenas, bosses and gameplay modifiers in your deadly quest for becoming briefly famous on space TV. The available upgrades are chosen from a deck you create from around 300 cards which allows you to experiment with different playstyles and combinations.

It’s pretty easy to get into and quite fun to play ever after a long time.

The main flaws of the game would be the weird way to unlock new cards which often gives you cards you already have and then turns them into shards. It just feels like it was made with microtransactions in mind but they were taken out or something like that. Also there could be a bit more variation in the world you have to fight through, especially if you don't get the Drone Invasion DLC.

Overall a pretty solid game with fun gameplay that can entertain you for quite a while.

This game attempts to combine deck-building with arena-battling and it's not really working for me. I can appreciate the theming of this game and the atmosphere, well done on those. But gameplay wise, this is a pass for me. Building a deck of randomly droppable upgrades isn't working for me. I just get too frustrated with randomly drawing a couple of expensive upgrades or consistently very cheap ones, either of which kind of ruins the growth arc you ideally would like to have.

Controls also feel a bit clunky. Out of the 4 characters that were available to me, I only liked one of them. The 2 melee characters don't seem to match how I seme to prefer playing this game. And out of the 2 ranged characters, the archer feels kind of clunky. Most of the controls kind of feel clunky really. The character that seems to suffer the least from that is the one I kind of enjoyed. And after having played the character a couple of times, I was already getting bored with it.

The gamepad issues have not been fixed since 2016, meaning you have to play this game with mouse and keyboard even though it playing basically like a twin-stick shooter.
If you try to move with the joystick, the character moves at about 1/20th the speed of the same input via WASD.
Trash game, DO NOT BUY.

The upgrade system felt clunky and unmeaningful. The levels were unmemorable. The characters lacked excitement. I don't regret buying this (didn't pay full price), but I definitely regret putting so much faith in this game. I've always liked the roguelike/lite genre, but I feel like it's hard to do a good one.

It is a single player game, just you don't get any of the online features or twitch intergration. You can do the spin to win and earn money and all that through the game. It looked like they had a cash shop but got rid of it. Its a fun little random arena generator. It is some challenge to it and the deck building aspect is cool. Its too bad there is no coop.

From the makers of Minion Masters. Comes a Roguelike experience.....but with actual progression even after death. And i love it.
Its a singleplayer game with deckbuilding and fun, short battles. It is one of the few roguelikes that isnt insanely difficult (like enter the gungeon) and feels rewarding enoguh even if you lose. You gain currency after every win (or loss) and this lets you acquire cards to fine-tune your decks.

While online servers and events have been discontinued, this game is still fully-functional as basically 90% of the game is offline (including card acquistion, deck making and quests). It is a true gem and a great singleplayer experience. May get a tiny bit repetitive eventually, but by then you already got your money´s worth.

Don˝t forget to check out F2P Minion Masters if competitive multiplayer 1v1 battles similar to Clash Royale (but with insane ammount of depth and no P2W) is your thing.

A truly well-made game made by good devs. Althogh for some reason early on the game felt kind of meh.

A twin-stick Shooter type arena fighter with light deck building and a whole boat load of charm.
Easy to sink hours into, looks good, plays good, well worth the price.

Only gripes I have are that I would love to see a co-op and/or horde mode in it but that would really just be icing on the cake.

Предыстория, сюжет: А сюжета тут собственно и нет. Есть глобальное этакое адреналин-шоу будущего, в котором на аренах гладиаторы сражаются и проходят испытания, а зрители наблюдают за ними.Вот участником такого шоу мы и являемся.

Геймплей: Игра FORCED SHOWDOWN является этаким мутантом сразу нескольких уникальных игровых жанров. Тут и РПГ элементы, арены, определенное стратегическое планирование, экшен и даже элемент карточных настольных игр!
В начале игры мы выбираем одно из трёх шоу-испытаний. Суровое испытание, передний край и лабиринт наставника. По началу нам доступно только Суровое испытание.

Затем мы выбираем своего гладиатора, подбираем ему костюм.Гладиаторов на выбор четверо. По началу нам доступен только Маг. Но по ходу игры мы сможем разблокировать и война и лучника и т.д Каждый из гладиаторов имеет свои наборы навыков и спец-способностей. Причем все четверо одинаково эффективны и пройти все арены можно за каждого.Здесь же можно выбрать свою колоду карт, а так же выбрать своего напарника или напарников. Суть карт в том что во время боёв их можно активировать и получать различные бонусы и преимущества над противником. Сами карты мы добываем как в боях так и можем получить на рулетке или скрафтить из осколков. Рулетку мы можем крутить за монетки которые так же получаем в награду на аренах. Из рулетки нам могут выпасть как карты так и например осколки из которых можем эти самые карты и крафтить.

Напарником игрока могут быть различные монстры от безобидных до просто выносящих всё и вся чудовищ. Причем роль напарника в FORCED SHOWDOWN не для галочки и некоторые арены без спутников просто не пройти!
Смысл игры — проходить цепочки арен, со все растущей сложностью. Убивая мобов и боссов что бы в итоге добраться до самого главного босса и его убить. Бои происходят в реальном времени.

В игре реализована система так называемых пассивных бонусов. Например увеличить шанс дропа лечилок или получение меньшего урона, нанесение большего врагам и т.д Получить их можно за прохождение цепочек арен-испытаний. На это мы будем расходовать специальные поинты которые будем получать за убийства врагов на аренах компании.

Все арены в игре отличаются друг от друга не только внешне, но и своими уникальными противниками, боссами и различными механизмами и ловушками на них. Все враги имеют свои сильные и слабые стороны и различные виды и типы атак. Боссы так же имеют свои линии поведения и свои слабые стороны, нужно подстраиваться и учитывать их для победы над ними. Стоит учесть что уровни в игре генерируются случайным образом что придает игре реиграбельности.

В игре имеется сетевой режим. А так же в игре реализована система всемирного рейтинга и различных соревнований для игроков со всего мира. Участвовать в этих соревнованиях очень интересно, разработчики придумывают все новые и новые дейлики.

Графика: Графика в игре отличная, выполненная в несколько мультяшном стиле что придает игре определенного шарма. Все текстуры четкие и детализированные, персонажи и их анимация проработанные. Красивейшие спец-эффекты от магии, огня и прочих взрывов. При этом игре не очень требовательна к железу компьютера.

Музыка и звук: Музыка в игре особо ничем не выделяется хотя и не вызывает отвращения. Она создает довольно неплохой фон, а большего от нее не требуется. Есть определенное разнообразие в треках. Озвучка в игре прекрасна, особенно радуют забавные реплики комментатора будто и впрямь на телешоу каком находишься! Звуковые спец-эффекты нареканий не вызывают.
