Mein Lieblings MMORPG was ich jemals gespielt habe!

Nach tausenden Stunden in Eorzea kann ich mit Gewissheit sagen: Final Fantasy XIV ist nicht einfach nur ein MMORPG, es ist ein Meisterwerk der Erzählkunst. Wer auf der Suche nach einer Welt ist, die einen emotional völlig mitnimmt, kommt an diesem Spiel nicht vorbei.
Warum FFXIV für mich die unangefochtene Nummer 1 ist:

#1 Die Story (MSQ): Von den politischen Intrigen in Heavensward bis hin zum epischen, tränenreichen Finale von Endwalker und dem neuen Aufbruch in Dawntrail – die Geschichte spielt in einer eigenen Liga. Man spielt nicht nur einen Charakter; man wird Teil einer Familie (die Scions), deren Schicksal einem wirklich am Herzen liegt.

#2 Das Job-System: Ein Charakter, alle Klassen! Ich liebe es, dass ich kein Dutzend Twinks brauche. Wenn ich heute heilen will, bin ich Weißmagier; morgen habe ich Lust auf Schaden und wechsle mit einem Klick zum Reaper oder Pictomancer.

#3 Die Community: „Great Community BTW“ ist hier kein Meme, sondern Realität. Ob in den Hauptstädten beim Musizieren oder in harten Savage-Raids – der Umgangston ist (meistens) unglaublich hilfsbereit und freundlich.

#4 Musik & Inszenierung: Masayoshi Soken ist ein Gott. Die Soundtracks während der Bosskämpfe geben mir jedes Mal Gänsehaut und pushen die Immersion auf ein Level, das kein anderes MMO erreicht.

#5 Respekt vor der Zeit: Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) und sein Team zwingen dich nicht zum täglichen Grind. Wenn man mal eine Pause braucht, kommt man zurück und ist schnell wieder auf dem aktuellen Stand. Das ist heutzutage selten und extrem wertvoll.

Mein persönliches Highlight:

Das Gefühl, wenn man nach einem harten Kampf gegen ein Primae (Zenit der Götter) mit seinen Freunden in einem Player-Housing-Café sitzt und einfach nur chattet. Diese Mischung aus High-End-Raiding und entspanntem Social-Life ist einzigartig.
Fazit:

Final Fantasy XIV Online ist ein Liebesbrief an alle RPG-Fans. Es fängt langsam an (A Realm Reborn), aber wer durchhält, wird mit der besten Reise belohnt, die die Gaming-Welt zu bieten hat.

Wir befinden uns gerade mitten im Patch-Zyklus von Dawntrail. Die Grafik-Updates vom letzten Jahr haben Eorzea wirklich neues Leben eingehaucht, besonders die Texturen und die neue Beleuchtung machen das Erkunden von Tural zu einem Genuss.

Absolutely love it, fantastic game, fantastic writing, hilarious and interesting quests but sometimes they give you the feels. All around great game IMO. Sometimes the quests can be a little repetitive in terms of fetching stuff and running across the map, but I love the game so much it doesn't bother me. <3

1023 hours? HAH! That's cutting it short, I had it to PS4, before I bought it for computer, and then I stopped playing for a while, and the Endwalker edition released, I thought, "WOW! 5 expansions in one go, that's cheaper then buying the last three in mogstation.", bought endwalker, payed for three months and played for a while back and forth, took a break, and I'm back at it. This was the kind of behavior I had with WoW, so hmm. Would I recommend it? Endgame is said to be about how your character look, and not raids and pvp, the community is nice and helpful, the overall vibe of the game is quite chill. Yeah, I would recommend it. Every day of the week, get through the main game story though. (I keep making new chars and jumping datacenters and servers, so I have yet to experience FFXIV) The main game was developed parallel with the last patch made for the old version, where they basically just took a meteorite and destroyed the existing world, you now live in the age past that, and they introduced a lot of things that didn't exist before that, simple things like jumping.... and mounts, and a lot more. Go look up the FFXIV documentary (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs0yQKI7Yw4) It's 50 min of raw data. Think about it carefully. They developed 2 games at the same time, so the main game is a bit underwhelming (I've been told), but it gets a heck of a lot better as soon as you start of with the first expansion story, which is the first time all time was dedicated to one game. I would like to see any other game studio pull such a feat. So watch the video, and you tell me, is their effort enough to hype you? It was enough for me, and even if I have spent like 2k hours in the main game only.... I still want more people to play it.

The fact that I have to purchase a $10 subscription and then spend an additional $40 on content without which the game is not very enjoyable is quite frustrating. This is the best MMO I have played in my life holy crap! The starting classes (mostly) feel really natural to learn as someone who is pretty new to MMOs. The story is also probably the best story in a video game I have played so far. If you are on the fence you can easily play 100+h in the free trial to really know if it is something for you or not. Big recommend!

Становится совершенно наплевать на красоты мира и ручную проработку, если разработчики совершенно тебя не уважают, не уважают твоё время, твои старания. Любоё твоё действие в этой игре совершенно никак не вознаграждается. Нет не единого повода исследовать какую либо локацию, от слова совсем - тупо картинка ради картинки, всё :)

Наверное худшая из существующих онлайн игр за подписку.

Fontos, a kritikám azoknak szól akik nem ismerik és nem is szeretik az MMO-kat, csak ránéznének a 14-re mert az FF az egyik kedvenc szériájuk. Sajnos nekik nincs jó hírem:
300 óra környékén (Heavensward vége felé) is ez sajnos első sorban MMO, így aki Final Fantasy élményt vár annak nagyon sokat kell szenvednie míg megkapja. Márha igaz hogy ez egyszer lehet jobb. Nagyon hajt mi az ami miatt azt mondják sokan hogy ez egy fantasztikus FF :\.
De ennyi idő után azt kell mondanom, ha egyszer el is jut oda a játék, hogy azt mondom "ez jó", ajánlani akkor sem tudom jó szívvel, mert ez a sok MMO stílusból fakadó szenny megmérgezni.
Én nem értem mikor számított jó ötletnek, egy sztori vezérelt game fontos harcait multi kötelessé tenni (vagyis így hagyni, mert ha jól tudom régen még szólóban sem nagyon lehetett játszani). Az hogy a történet katartikus(nak szánt) pontjain megáll a játék és arra kényszerít hogy várj, megmérgezi az egészet.
Erre rájön az unalmas harcrendszer, a stílus esetlenségéből fakadó technikai megvalósítások.

Szintén gondolom MMO örökség, de a hatalmas pályák teljesen üresek és emiatt érdektelenek, úgyhogy ha valaki mondjuk egy Elden Ringen edződött, (vagy játszott legalább egy RPG-vel) akkor sajnálom, de "no loot for you"
Ha valaki olyan elvetemült mit én, és kíváncsi a játékra, annak kitartást kívánok. Javaslom hogy az ARR csapnivaló quest és történet vezetése ellenére is szenvedjétek végig, mert sokat számít ha tudsz kötődni a karakterekhez. Ha a sztori a legjobb pontja a játéknak akkor annak megtapasztalásán ne spóroljatok. Amúgy később már nyomokban szinkront is tartalmaz a játék :_) .
Az angol szinkron amúgy borzalmas, még az ARR utáni szinkron csere után is, úgyhogy javaslom mindenkinek a japán szinkront. Sokkal hitelesebb, és konzisztens.
Szóval akik JRPG-ken szocializálódtak, és szeretik a Final Fantasy franchiset azoknak nehezen ajánlom. Kitartást hozzá, ez nagyon más élmény lesz.
Gondolom akik szeretik az mmo játkokat vagy közösen töltenének időt egy jrpg szerű világban, aminek még a sztorija is okés, azok szeretni fogják.

This game is an insult to game design.
The duty roulette is a chore and I fall asleep doing dungeons, often you wont be able to use your max level character cause content scales you down and removes most of the abilities you have earned. Said content is too easy and completely frictionless. They design this game for people without a pulse.
Content is locked behind a 200h story. The fact that the story is that long is simply insulting. Not all of the story is good, mind you. It is an absolute slog and unless you finish it - you cannot get into most content.
What the F*ck is the purpose of alliance raids? Normal raids? Any dungeons? There is only savage and EX.
What is the purpose of Blue mage, which is now an abandoned job? Beast master? Who asked?

End game is ALL just circle or square arenas. Nothing is interesting or exciting about a new "raid". All classes do the same thing but differently. There is not a DoT class. There isnt a real Pet job. Lets homogenize everything to make it easy so the most braindead people can enjoy it.

The game absolutely deserved it's downfall and in my opinion, it did not fall far enough. This is what happens when you have absolutely no passion for the game and just design by formula. There is no creativity here.
Community can be a cult. Defending the obvious flaws for years and thus hurting the game they themselves play.
"Very positive" review score is baffling to me, I genuinely do not understand it.

So, I'm deep enough in to where I feel like I can comfortably leave my thoughts on the game. I'm an avid Final Fantasy fan and have been for a while. I've tried several MMO's, but none ever stuck for me...until I got into this one. The only other one that I somewhat got a little hooked into was SWTOR, but I fell off of that one just like the others.

FFXIV is an MMO I can realistically picture myself playing until the day I die, or until the game shuts down, whichever comes first. Hopefully until I die at a very old age will be the case, because I LOVE this game. Admittedly, it won't be for everyone, but it can be for anyone. There is so much to do to fill your time. A great story, solid expansions, beautiful designs you can just spend the day admiring, tons of jobs to mess around with and play the way you want to, and the best end game content you could ever imagine...that's right, I'm talking about GLAMOUR (transmog), baby!

If you're on the fence, try the free trial. Literally play the game and the first two expansion, no game time limit with that, and still enjoy hundreds of hours of play time. Also, let me throw out how helpful the community is. Probably my favorite part of the game is the overall community. Sure, there's still some stinkers in there as far as people go, but I can honestly say it is hands down the friendliest, most welcoming MMO/gaming communities I've ever seen. Join a solid Free Company (Guild) and make fast friends who are more than happy to help you along.

Jump in and give it a shot if you've been thinking about it, there's not much to regret...other than getting completely hooked like I have and spending every free second you can in Eorzea!

I've got some friends who play this game, and as someone who wanted to get into MMOs, I started a character with the free trial. I tried out the free trial and thought it was alright. The UI was not to my liking, but it was fine. As I started to gather quests, I felt it would be best to move my character over to console. My PC is in my home office, which isn't the best environment to grind out quests. So, I wanted to move my trial character to the PlayStation in my bedroom. Which I believed would make for a better environment to grind out these quests. I wanted to use the same character but found out my trial character couldn't be moved over, if they remained a trial character. So, I did something that I admit was rather silly. Long annoying set up story about trial and error made short; I ended up buying the game on both PlayStation and on Steam. I had noticed something about a subscription that I was given for a couple of months and didn’t think much of it at the time. I turned on the game on PlayStation, then got turned off by the even worse UI on console. I put down the game and didn’t pick it up again until recently, where I figured I’d return to PC. Now, I can’t seem to play the game, and it may have something to do with not having an active subscription. As someone who still doesn’t know if they’ll like the game enough to renew their subscription, I feel stuck. A friend of mine tells me I should just make a new character, but at this point, I’m far too upset with the money and frustration I’ve already put into this endeavor to consider that a viable solution.

…This game has been a pain in my ass and is why I’m giving it a negative review.

I am new to the game and just started and a little over 25 hrs in. the game is great and has a nice story. the community has been pretty cool as well. i am this far in and still feel like i have so much stuff to do. i have only been focusing on main line currently and haven't done to much of side quest. this game is a different experience when u have a subscription compared to the free trial, the community is very nice and people actually talk to you when you ask them something. also who doesnt like to fish?

20 hours of gameplay for a weird world that I really couldn't care any less about. Nothing about this game screams that it's any different than any other MMO. I'm glad that people can like it, but I'd rather go play probably any other MMO than this one, and I don't like MMOs. This world is just flat-out weird. I also didn't particularly care for the 'archer' class that I chose, and I'm not into using multiple classes. I'm kind of a one-trick pony. The class that interested me just wasn't fun.

Reason I downvote it is that I wanted to play with friends and couldn't because a server was full. And apparently it's just annoying enough that none of them wanted to move over because I think that means restarting or something. Idk, by that time I lost interest in it anyway.

Older MMO, but graphics are still pretty good. Story telling engages the player, pulling you deeper into the lore. Many of the players are already higher level or maxed out. May be overwhelming for newer players.

Heavensward is by far the worst MMO expansion ever created. The zones are so frustrating to navigate and the quests so incredibly tedious and disrespectful toward one's time that it almost feels like I'm paying to be trolled. Traveling through these zones is like one non-stop quit moment that I am always actively trying to talk myself down from.

Spare me the "oh they were just leaning into flying this expac" bs. Running back and forth across the zone to turn one quest in at a time is only slightly less annoying than flying back and forth across the zone to turn in one quest at a time.

It certainly doesn't help that he FF14 community treats the game like it's their entire purpose for living and any criticism gets viciously suppressed by its legions of furry erpers. Look up any Reddit post criticizing HW. The comments sections are telling. Based on what I've read about Dawntrail, you guys earned and deserve it.

The storylines between ARR and HW are one of the game's only redeeming qualities to this point; however, this, too, is ruined by the bloated, exposition-laden dialogue that is just insulting to anyone above an 8th grade reading level. I generally skip the cutscenes and just read summaries online because removing the dialogue is the only thing that allows me to enjoy the story.

What I mainly enjoy about FF14, maybe ironically, is everything else. There is a lot to do and being able to play every job on one character is legit. This is largely because the jobs really are a cut above other MMOs. Exceptional. All of them. I especially like how gathering and tradeskill professions are whole ass jobs unto themselves. This is what keeps me playing.

However, my incredibly negative experience running through HW was enough to give the entire experience thus far a negative review. This game isn't really sold on its combat systems, class design or extraneous systems; it's sold on its story, world and community; all three of which I find to be the game's weakest features.

This game is amazing... visually stunning, the amount of different type of quests always makes you interested, the characters and story draw you in to actually care, the customization you can be anything... but the one thing all mmos have at the core of it all... the thing every quest line or story leads to. Is the combat, and that ♥♥♥♥ is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrible that i someone who wants an mmo to be good so badly... its crazy that even from how amazing all the rest of the game is the combat is so piss poor that i had to delete this game... DO NOT GET THIS GAME IF YOU CARE ABOUT COMBAT EVEN SLIGHTLY.

Absolute WORST experience I've ever had in gaming, which I didn't even have the ability to do, because I'm yet to even open the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. For the folks wondering if it's worth it, this one is for you. First, Square Enix puts you through a labyrinth of trying to figure out what exactly to buy, where to buy it, how to download it, keys, it's an absolute nightmare to simply just OWN the game. But it gets worse from there, because FINALLY you get the game, and now try to install it, but oh no!?!? an unexpected error shows up saying it can't download patch files. So the 20+ minutes you sat there waiting for it to download, goes to ♥♥♥♥. From there, you'll google endlessly trying to find fixes to this error, none of which will likely help as this has apparently been an issue for 10+ years. You'll try some if not all of these fixes, all requiring you to attempt to redownload the game potentially up to 10 times. By that point, you'll either be me, who wasted almost 2 hours of just TRYING to play this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, OR you'll spend hours longer if you haven't already just given up on this ♥♥♥♥. In all seriousness though, it genuinely makes me sad. Believe me, I'm mad about being robbed of $30 on a game I can't even access, but I'm moreso sad. I'm sad I don't get to experience what I imagine to be a great game. Guess I'll be trying more MMOs out now that FFXIV has taken my money and left me without a game to play.

im surprised i ever forgot to review this in 2024, but here it is
i have nothing crazy to say other than: beautiful storyline, character development, community interaction, game variety, heavenly soundtracks, literally so much more dude if you are willing to invest your time into this game (mmorpg-style games do tend to turn some people away)

however..... after the free trial it was $13, now $15, to renew per 30 day period (awful for the unemployed/financially insecure)
i did get all expansions up to endwalker for $20 on sale tho
