A dark fantasy survival horror RPG in which players must uncover the secrets of the dungeon of Fear & Hunger.
Fear & Hunger is a horror dungeon crawler set in the dark and hopeless dungeons of fear and hunger. Four misfortuned adventurers dwell deeper and deeper to the darkness and uncover the secrets this ancient fortress holds inside. The fortress works as an ancient nexus for different planes of existence. The depths are in an eternal turmoil as both old and new gods struggle for power, it’s up to the players to choose their position and stance in all of this.

I am... hesitant to recommend this one. The developer marked this as an adult game, and for good reason. It may just be an RPG Maker game, but there is quite a bit of very graphic and disturbing content. The setting, lore, soundtrack and characters come together to create a game that is simultaneously fascinating as well as incredibly dark and oppressive in nature. Fear & Hunger, or "Funger" as many have begun to call it, is so popular it has even begun to inspire developers to make their own games that some have begun referring to as "Fungerlikes." For a time it was very popular amongst content creators and it has earned a fairly strong following.
I'm sure the list of influences and inspirations is a long one, but I know two of them are Silent Hill and Berserk.
There are some incredibly unique mechanics here, like limb loss for both your own characters and enemies. Death is permanent. The game is challenging and can feel unfair.
Content warning: extreme violence and gore, drug / substance abuse, self-mutilation, dismemberment, body horror, torture, sex, sexual violence, nudity, tons of disturbing imagery and creatures, and more.
Even the soundtrack really adds to the bleak and disturbing atmosphere. This is a very disturbing game with a crushing environment and story. There are scenarios where you may even want to saw your limbs off such as being poisoned, and the sound effect is just awful.
One can easily argue that some of these things are not "necessary" to the game, and that's a fair opinion that I won't argue with. I made the same argument in regards to the Game of Thrones show. But none of it is meant to be taken lightly. It's meant to be taken seriously and it's meant to be uncomfortable, not to be funny or fetishized. Which reminds me... do yourself a favor and avoid the "community" of this game, as many of them do exactly that.
There is something about this world that is so captivating despite how uncomfortable it is. There are multiple endings, and arguably none of them are really good.
A nearly 10/10 game that I can realistically recommend to almost nobody I know. Don't play it unless you can stomach some truly awful stuff.

Its a good game, but I dont recommend it to anyone who likes playing games without having to look stuff up all the time.
Either: use a wiki/walkthrough and breeze through everything (reducing the tension), or suffer through hours of resetting and dying over and over, because this game is extremely punishing to people playing blind.

If you enjoy replaying the same 20–30 minutes every time you die because the game relies on limited saves and RNG, this might be for you.
There are plenty of ways to make a game challenging without forcing players to constantly repeat the same content. Here, the difficulty comes less from mastering the game and more from enduring its save system.
Maybe I would’ve had the patience for this years ago. Now it just feels like the game doesn’t respect the time I have to give it.

The horror genre and psychological turmoil and sadomasochism and everything that's vile cries and trembles in fear (and hunger lol) in a pitch black trench, resenting the very day this game was brought into existence. As most of the sorry individuals that had the misfortune of bumping into it does.
And I am nothing short of unfortunate for having grown immensely infatuated with the idea of having this untamed, hostile monster of a game submerged under my victorious gauntlet on a fatidic, most expected day (I haven't played in months and have only recently purchased the game on Steam, but needless to say I am in love with the worldbuilding & story and the sheer vileness of the game mechanics, I'm not a masochist alright, just prone to grow obsessed with the most challenging and uncertain things).
Untill then, dire times are sure to be bestowed upon me.
Fear & Hunger é um jogo bem depressivo e possui temas sensíveis, religião, nudez, uso de drogas, gore etc...
É um jogo propositalmente difícil, porém ele me passou a sensação de estar jogando um Dark Souls pela primeira vez, sem saber de nada, onde tu fica desconfiado de tudo e de todos. Esse jogo vai te matar várias vezes, mas várias mesmo, porém a cada run que tu morre, tu aprende uma coisa nova, e com o tempo tu vai ligando uma coisa com a outra e aprendendo como as coisas funcionam, aprendendo padrões dos inimigos, quando se defender, quando fugir do combate, quais membros do inimigo decepar primeiro etc... O jogo é cheio de "micro mecânicas", porém ele não te ensina NADA! tu precisa aprender tudo sozinho, ou pedir socorro para o bom e velho google, mas sinceramente recomendo tentar jogar a primeira vez sozinho, sem pegar guia ou pesquisar na wiki do jogo. E recomendo ler TUDO no jogo, além de dicas do que fazer, boa parte da lore do jogo é contada através dos livros e itens que tu vai encontrando, e a lore é muito boa!
O jogo possui diversos finais, cada um dependendo de qual classe tu escolheu, quem sobreviveu, quem morreu etc... E quando alguém da tua party morre, ele morreu pra sempre naquela run, não tem como reviver aliados mortos.
9/10. Só não dou 10 porque o jogo possui alguns bugs bem chatinhos que podem travar teu progresso e te fazer voltar o save ou começar de novo, como por exemplo, se tu mata um inimigo na frente de uma porta que tu precisa interagir com ela depois, tu não vai conseguir pois ao tentar interagir com a porta tu vai na verdade interagir com o corpo do inimigo na frente da porta.

Great game if you let it be, just don't expect to beat the game. Very much not for the faint of heart, the content warnings are there for a reason.
By all standards it is cruel and unfair, but if understand and accept that, it can be very enjoyable. It does a good job of keeping the investment into a just run low enough for the run ending effects to be acceptable and kinda fun.

If you don’t go down the elevator until you’ve read most of the lore books and gained all you can from the dungeon by getting into as little combat as possible or just clearing all combatants then the game can begin but only if your willing to put the work in to get yourself their with all your limbs and everything you’ll need to get through the real game.
There’s nothing to this game beyond largely its combat and loot mechanics, which are solely subversive delivery mechanisms for the narrative to unfold over a longer playtime than necessary. I’d love to be able to save normally and just see wtf this game is about but it also a survival game, which is clearly copying Kingdom Come for some reason and doing so poorly. You can’t have saves and games of chance those things are built to abuse themselves and combining their dependence insures the very problem your solution is attempting to solve. It’s great to have stakes but don’t fool yourself into thinking they’re real when people are just gonna hate you for making them commit the time it costs to get the result they desire by committing to repetition.

Immersive censorship and Anti-SA mods exist for the game to make it just that little bit more accessible.
No hate to the dev for the inclusion of the SA scenes, they do add to the horror without glorifying it, but not my cup of tea.
Game is a banger tho.

As if getting killed by monsters wasn't bad enough they also graped me
I opened the game, picked mercenary, named him, picked an honest life at the start, entered the dungeon, literally got ass f****d by the first enemy. Start over again with the same class, picked lockpicking, found a little girl, fought the same guy from the start again, got ass f****d in front of the little girl.
All in less than 40 minutes mind you.
10/10 game would beat again.
This is just a rape fetish game. I wish I knew that when I bought it but I fell for people saying it had good story elements, a good atmosphere, and played every stroke of the brush masterfully. They were wrong, this is a horrible game that relies on shock value horror and the "unforgiving" atmosphere becomes a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke when you have a coin flip to do anything. Please do research into this game because the community is just as bad and brushes everything off because of the "lore". At this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point the game has such horrible GAME DESIGN it should just be an interactive novel.... If you like horror, don't play this game. If you like good writing, don't play this game. If you like literally anything that is of quality, don't play this game. If you like a good art style and shock horror that doesn't have any basis, go right ahead. Otherwise please do not buy this.

This "game" is the biggest mistake ive ever purchased in my life. Since playing this game my hair has fallen out, my family exiled me, I stopped showering, and I stopped talking to women.
