Recht kurz, aber okay. Theater, Paris, 19. Jahrhundert. Illusionen und Zauber, die üblichen Bösewichte und irgendwer der/die gerettet werden muss.

Als Helfer bekommt man hier den Theaterjungen zur Seite gestellt. Allerdings ist er teilweise etwas unaufmerksam und so kann es passieren, dass er in ein Loch fällt, aus dem man ihn erstmal retten muss.

Die Rätsel sind okay, wenn man sie auch kennt. Die Wimmelbilder sind auch nett gemacht. Ein Bonuskapitel gibt es hier nicht. Für den Vollpreis würde ich das Spiel aber nie und nimmer kaufen, da für knapp 15,- Euro viel, viel zu teuer, für die 2 bis 3 Stunden Spielzeit.

Oh, this game is nostalgia inducing. I love the colorful art of mystery and magic this game brings. I remember playing this game for once or twice. Came back now on my third playthrough.

For a 2017 game, the font in the game feels too printed and rigid that it breathes no life into. It's like seeing text in a file document, too serious and less magical. Sure, it may be a nitpick, but the repetitive view of dialogues throughout the story can evoke the feeling of having it simply monotone. There is no indicators of acquired collectibles per stage, so you are bound to miss some if not most of the collectibles in the map. Some of the animations also felt a little wonky as experienced. The voice acting wasn't too bad, just the animations I had to nitpick.

The game did have quite a positive reception from the little inherent quirks. The music is very intense and you could feel the tension drawing closer as navigation in the story continues. I appreciate having multiple puzzles in one puzzle, giving it a layer of complexity than your usual one-and-done puzzles in hidden object games. It was also interesting they allow the option to remove dubbing. It's up to the player whether they'd want to play the game and focus on the background ambiance or with the flair of the dialogue delivery.

Despite the nostalgia, I fear the game is simply but a longing to it. I played for almost 3 hours with an 84% achievement clearing score. I missed one collectible and have no plans of re-trying the game for now to get it. Perhaps, one day or two to speedrun. But for now, this falls under a comfortable [u]7/10[/u] score. I'd recommend it, but only to a niche that enjoys mystery, a bit of magic, with the mix hidden object aspects.

По традиции тут опять отважная женщина, которой для разнообразия помогает мальчик в деле разоблачения ступивших на кривую дорожку иллюзионистов. Встречаются типичные огрехи, где треугольник почему-то переведён как сквер. Но эти мелочи не помешали получить ещё одну идеальную игру, хоть и с руководством для нахождения скрытых предметов.

В остальном же полный набор плюшек магазина, что уже добрая традиция для игр от Артифекс. Все бы следовали этому примеру. Управления с игровых пультов опять же не завезли, хотя похожие игры выходили даже на приставках вроде wii и там вполне нормально игрались со стиков. Могли бы добавить поддержку.

По итогу не особо притягательная история и не очень интересные головоломки, но по скидке и на безрыбье пойдёт.

The first impression was rather good. The game started on the positive note. Unfortunately most of the good stuff became very 'meh' before even reaching the midgame. Visuals are more or less ok, I guess. Gameplay was boring. You barely encounter any HoG scenes. Puzzles were nothing special - you are just clicking stuff most of the time without any thought process.

The story is extremely dumb. Most of the time you will chase local villain, but no matter how hard he will try to stop you and how much time you will waste dealing with his traps, the moment you get to another location, you can still see him 'diligently' trying to run away. At certain moment he'll even manage to KO you. It will take you few hours to wake up. But guess what? The moment you enter the next room, you won't believe, he will be right there still 'trying' to run away.

The ending is also kinda ridiculous. I mean, if that relic is so important and so powerful... why these sore losers even were tasked to keep and protect it? This is totally senseless. And even less believable. Why even bringing these secret lodges, if you can't write anything meaningful about them?

A special word about Arthur, our helper in this adventure. This boy has already become local meme. He is either blind or totally dumb, because will fall in every hole and get in every trap. Literally. Not 1. Not 2. But [b]every[/b] damn trap. Ridiculous. I can't recommend this game, but if you still want it for trading cards - get it on sale.

The was really quite funny, albeit unintentionally so. The English translation leaves a lot to be desired, possibly simply stuck through a universal translator, included the wonders of looking for a cadlestick and a glob. I had to 'find a good 'isolator' which probably meant 'insulator', although I wouldn't really trust sticking a rug over a floor filled with live wires. Hope it had a rubber backing. Not to mention something being 'a transient form' which may have meant 'temporary'. As for find the aspergellum, it seems it is a broom.
The little cockney lad ( the only good acting voice) was at some point 'poorly' but not quite certain why, although he did regularly fall down holes. The rest of the cast had all the personality of AI, possibly less so.
I won't even mention the 'grim more'. Well, ok, I did.
Graphics were mediocre, and let's say you didn't have to be the brightest kid on the block to solve them.
Score? 4/10, please try harder.

so many spelling errors - spent way too long searching for a "glob" before realizing they meant globe. another HOG section had a "cadlestick". terrible plot, repetitive simple puzzles. i played on normal difficulty and was just bored, no challenge. definitely not worth the price, if you really want this game make sure its at least 80% off

Middle of the road HOG. Graphics are not bad, easy to find most objects and puzzles are fairly straight forward. Vice acting is not very good... in some parts it is hard to distinguish who is actually supposed to be speaking. There are typos as well. The story is pretty straight forward as well. On the plus side, you don't have to play the whole game over if you miss an achievement as they carry over from game to game. 5 out of 10 hidden 'globs'...

Gewohnte Artifex Mundi Qualität, ein gutes HO Game mit einer Spielzeit von ca. 3 Stunden.
Die Sammel- und Illusionsobjekte sind ohne Hilfe fast nicht zu finden weil extrem gut versteckt.
Für HO Fans durchaus empfehlenswert.

Not recommended, because it was honestly one of the worst games published by Artifex Mundi, IMHO, and they have been publishing some real stinkers over the last several years.

The puzzles were not challenging, many were far to easy, even on Expert Mode. While others were pure trial and error because the clues made no sense. The hidden object scenes were okay, I guess, but several reused the same scene for separate puzzles.

The artwork is fine, basically the same as almost every other HOG/HOPA from this time frame. The voice acting seemed dull and forced auite a bit of the time. It had no soul to it, and I guess I feel like the entire game had no soul to it. The story was too choppy, lacked little details that would have added something interesting- the plot twist was entirely too predictable.

Playtime from start to finish was 3.9 hours on Expert Mode- the additional time you see is from idling the game for Trading cards, years ago. I got the game in a cheap bundle somewhere, so I likely only paid a buck or 2 for it. I still feel like I overpaid. The whole experience was a few levels below "meh" for me, though it was a pretty quick 100% achievements game, if that's what you are looking for. If you are looking for a casual HOG/HOPA that makes you work your brain a bit and has a reasonably interesting story- probably best to leave this one behind.

Despite the Mixed reviews... I actually like this game. Even if the studio didn't create a magnificent game, it still had charm to it.

For one, there were more actions with your "companion". I liked the story/twists, no matter how short it was and that monkey was hilarious af.

It wasn't hard, but it wasn't so easy that you are no longer sure where you are.

Extremely derivative HOG. Every single puzzle have been in another similar (and much better) game. Let's see, we have, sliding blocks, "pipe dream", the one where you more two or three steps in a circle and need to color all fields the same color, some basic logic puzzles, a fuse puzzle where you need to put the correct fuse with the correct number. The story is mediocre with some terrible english translations and the inventory puzzles are definitly pushing the logic (why can't i pick up a crank in what looks like a feet of water and instead need to make a new out of seeweed and a stick...). The collectable achievement is also kind of BS in this game since some of them are in a maze where you only pass one time and there are no way of going back.

good enjoyable hidden object game. No nasty tricks just good camouflage.
Map works well for quick travel between distant areas - although there is not much backtracking and circle work in this one (another plus).
Story is enjoyable.
While there is no standout difference with this HOG, I found all aspects of the game were above average quality making it a great HOG.

Pongo nota negativa, pero primero quiero dar mi opinión de lo bueno:
Es un juego básico, pero entretenido, contiene una linda historia, pero nada de otro mundo.
La música bien, y los gráficos cumpliendo como siempre, salvo algunas excepciones que voy a decir en la parte mala.

Vamos con lo malo, ya que me duele porque no soy de dar nota negativa:
- Primero quiero destacar que el logro "Expert" no se consigue a pesar de que uno empieza en modo experto y sin alterar nada durante el camino. Lo pasé 2 veces en la máxima dificultad y no me salió el maldito logro (hay una teoría de que no te va a salir si entras a opciones y alteras el volumen u otra cosa porque el juego lo toma como que se alteró la dificultad)

2: Es demasiado básico, y ya de por sí estos juegos no son de ser complejos, pero este te toma por tonto o lo hicieron con pocas ganas. Puzzles muy fáciles, pocos lugares para buscar objetos, poca movilidad por escenarios, ya que en un lugar haces casi todo y saltas al siguiente a resolver cosas.

3: El pibito que nos ayuda es muy infumable, y encima muchas veces su rénder no encaja con el escenario.

Creo que si no fuese por el bug del logro, no le hubiese dado nota negativa.

LE doy un 6/10. Solo lo recomiendo comprarlo en oferta y si tenés un par de horas muy al pedo. Pero es muy básico comparado con otros juegos de este estilo.

Faces of Illusion: The Twin Phantoms is a typical Artifex Mundi HOG, but a bit below-par for their catalog. There are clearly some Google Translate moments in the notes and text, and while the low-budget voice actors are overall pretty decent, the character "Charles" does not know how to pronounce "grimoire" (and this word is used repeatedly since all of the characters are searching for it) and no one corrected him. :D But it's still ok for what it is. It has many of the same recycled puzzles that you see again and again in HOGs, but players of these games know they're generally going to see that with all but the top 5% or so of the genre.

For achievement hunters: You'll have to beat this one on expert level, and I suggest using a walkthrough simply to find all of the collectible objects; the trading cards are pretty easy, but several illusion objects are downright diabolical in their placement and often located in detail-level views to which you cannot backtrack. Otherwise, just play the game, but check the walkthrough for the location of any collectibles you've missed before you leave the area, or else you'll have to replay the entire thing.

5/10 - recommended on sale if you enjoy the genre, but just barely

Reviewing this game is hard. The animated parts are quite good, mini-games are on high level, most of HO screens are quite good. The graphics are also at a high level, even considering the year of release. But the gameplay is too much linear and a little boring. There is nothing special to complain about, but the play experience is not so good.
I want to give "neutral" recomendation. Good game to buy on sale only. There are games with a better story and a more enjoyable gaming experience.

Not the greatest but also not the worst hidden object game out there. It is however really easy and short (3,4 hours for 1 and 3/4 of a playthroughs as I missed some collectables the first time around).

Linux version works fine except when tabbing out I couldn't see my taskbar on the monitor the game was on as the game was in front of it.

Face of Illusion es el típico juego de objetos ocultos de "segunda línea", con pobres gráficos y animaciones que te sacan bastante de la historia y un argumento un tanto manido. Los puzzles, sin ser algo de otro mundo, no están mal y son variados, así como la duración del juego, que es promedio.

Las pruebas de objetos ocultos son un tanto complicadas por algunas traducciones un tanto "justitas". Lo pero del juego sin duda es el argumento y los gráficos, que si bien suelen ser cosas que tampoco pesan tanto en este tipo de juegos si están moderadamente bien hechas, cuando no lo están, como es el caso, cantan mucho y empobrecen la experiencia de juego. Si te gustan este tipo de juegos, consíguelo de oferta o mejor búscate otro.

[h1] Story [/h1] Wir spielen eine Namenlose Journalistin und sollen Fotos einer Theater Aufführung einer Berühmten Tänzerin namens "Beatrice" machen. Diese wird jedoch während der Aufführung von einem Illusionisten entführt und wir wollen sie gemeinsam mit ihrem kleinen Bruder retten

[h1] Gameplay [/h1] Auch hier wieder gib tes natürlich die typischen Wimmelbildszenen und einen Haufen an Minispielen. Die Minispiele sind sehr abwechslungsreich und haben mir gut gefallen, allerdings waren sie auch sehr einfach zu lösen. Die Wimmelbildszenen sind auch ganz ok. Ich musste das Spiel allerdings 3 mal von vorne beginnen aufgrund der Sammelbaren Gegenstände. An einem Ort habe ich beim Ersten mal eines übersehen und konnte nicht zurückkehren. Beim Zweiten & Dritten mal habe ich an einer anderen Stelle zu schnell geklickt und konnte deshalb auch nicht zurückkehren, dies war frustrierend aber wohl eher meine eigene Schuld. Voice Acting ist wie Genre üblich nicht so besonders

[h1] Achievements [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 13 Erfolge. Hierfür muss man wie üblich das Spiel im Experten Modus beenden, sowie alle Minispiele & Wimmelbildszenen ohne Tipps oder Überspringen lösen. Zudem mal wieder das übliche Minispiel & Wimmelbild lösen unter 1 Minute und 4 Gegenstände in 4 Sekunden finden

This should be a neutral review. Still in the absence of such choice I just can't recommend it

Game is literally average in every aspect. While there's nothing really bad about it, it has plenty of downsides. It's really short. Has just a few puzzles in it, and to make things worse is painfully linear with points of no return every few locations.
Puzzles themselves are fine, but there are just a few of them. Same goes for HO scenes(however their quality seemed just below average)
Most of the time all action takes place in a single location and you can't(and don't need to) access more then 2 previous ones(annoying when hunting for collectibles especially that game autosaves and doesn't have any chapter select feature or anything similar)

To sum up. It's not bad, but with plentiful better HOGs out there it's rather recommended only for fans who already played most of them or if you can get it on a discount, otherwise you can easily find a better choice

Honestly, I might as well throw a coin to figure out if I would recommend it or not.

On the one hand, the game looked really nice, pretty artwork and there were no bugs. The hidden object scenes were fine. The puzzles were nothing unusual, a bit easy perhaps. The achievements were doable in a single run. Collectibles were a bit annoying because you can't go back to most places pretty soon after you've visited them.

On the other hand, the story was incredibly confusing and boring. One of these days I'll make a hidden object game bingo, and this game would probably fill all the fields out - annoying sidekick, evil artifact, super surprising plot twist (or not) and no real conclusion.

I'm not really playing those games for the story though, so I'll go with "yes" this time, but I would only buy this in a bundle or at a huge discount.

So many hidden object games by this company are great but this one was really bad. It only has 7 hidden object puzzles, the path is extremely linear and the voice acting/characters are either very weird or boring. All in all, it only took me about 3 hours to complete. It also has very bad translation in parts so some hidden object games were very difficult to complete without Googling to find out what the items actually meant. It felt very sparse and incomplete

Une journaliste venue assister au spectacle, décide de mener l'enquête avec l'aide d'un jeune garçon. C'est un bon jeu dans son gameplay, mais je trouve l'histoire pas terrible et très mal construite. C'est dommage, car ça aurait pu être, un bien meilleur jeu.

I don't understand why this game has such a poor review rating. I found it quite fun! At 3 hours, it is pretty short. But I played it for two hours straight on the first go, so it was rather enjoyable.

The graphics are bright and uplifting, as per Artifex Mundi's usual. The story is a B-movie plot, but not a terrible one. The dialogue is a bit strained and in somewhat flawed English, but it's easy to follow what's going on. The HO scenes are enjoyable and the mini-games are mostly fine (except the second to last one, sadly).

Is it a perfect game? Far from it. But I spent a fun 3 hours with it. Also, I found it hilarious that any dangerous task or heavy lifting was left to your child companion. Afterall, this takes place in the 1800's, well before we tried to nerf the world for our weak and anxious offspring!

This is a game that Artifex Mundi published but didn't develop and it sadly is pretty obvious. AM tends to make some really fun and interesting HOGs, too.

Story: 2/5
The story could have been a nice little mystery, but it was often very confusing and suffered from sloppy, rushed pacing. The more you progress, the more idiotic the story seems to become until the ending, which is all kinds of absurd. I mean, happy endings are nice and all but geez...this game really wants you to suspend belief like crazy. Also noticed a lot of spelling and grammar errors in notes, documents, etc.

Graphics: 3/5
Not bad for the most part, but some awkward animations (including facial animations) and terrible CGI bring the quality down.

Voice Acting: 1.5/5
Other than the main character, nearly everyone sounded terrible. Jacques' accent was ridiculous! Conversations were sometimes awkward and dry as well, and I didn't feel much of a connection between characters.

Hidden Object Puzzles: 3.5/5
They were pretty good for the most part, but some had spelling errors (i.e. "Glob" instead of "Globe")

Other Puzzles: 3/5
Most of them are ok, if a bit too easy. However, a few are definitely lacking (i.e. finding shapes with a cluster of lightning bolts is killer for the eyes, and the sling shot you construct at the end is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen)

Final Grade: 52% (only buy if it's REALLY cheap and you are a hardcore HOGs player)

Как будто качество просто вышло покурить. Несмотря на наличие каких-никаких механик в игре, интереснее не становится.
Тому, кто рисовал тигров, вообще сел на руки слон. С размаху так сел. Или "художник" видел только плюшевых поддельных тигров, сшитых в подвале многоэтажки в 90е. Тогда... очень похоже получилось.

Faces of Illusion: The Twin Phantoms is a point and click adventure game with a decent variety of puzzles, but abysmal storytelling and voice acting.

The game’s visuals are great when it comes to the still images and backgrounds. On the other hand, the animated portions of the game are often laughably bad. Anytime a character moves, they look they are sliding across a 2D background instead of being a part of the scene. It gives the game an amateur, low budget feel, which unfortunately goes well with the voice acting.

The voice acting is some of the worst I have ever heard in a game. Every character mispronounces the word “grimoire”, except for one that says it correctly early in the game, then begins saying it incorrectly later on. The accents are all over the place, with some characters sounding like over-the-top caricatures, and others that sound wooden and emotionless. It is such a bizarre contrast that takes away all the tension and weight of the story.

Storytelling in this game is often stilted and awkward. Some plot points try to be deadly serious, while others are almost comedic. The tone changes so often that it has hard to even tell what the writers were going for. There are a few “twists” that are so obvious, I didn’t even realize they were meant to be twists until they were dramatically revealed later in the story.

The dialogue is also a weak point for the game, with most of it sounding like a poor google translation. Presumably, the writers didn’t speak English fluently, because there are several sentences that are borderline nonsense. Grammar issues plague the dialogue, which impacts the voice actors’ performances quite a bit. The silver lining is that this gives the game an almost B-movie vibe, where the writing becomes an unintentional comedy. Obviously, the developers didn’t intend for this, but it still makes the game much more bearable.

The biggest issue the game has is gameplay. While the voice acting is terrible, it still has some life to it, making it somewhat enjoyable. The writing is awful, but it comes off like an earnest attempt. However, the gameplay is just boring and derivative. It features your typical old-school adventure game moon logic puzzles, with ridiculous leaps of logic required to figure out. Thankfully, the game usually has hints that clear up the confusion, but it makes the weird logic even more noticeable because of it.

Overall, while this isn’t the worst adventure game you could play, it doesn’t have much going for it, aside from some unintentionally funny moments.

I was willing to overlook the spelling errors and the bad grammar, as long as the storyline would manage to keep my interest. Unfortunately, it started to waver pretty much halfway through. There's no rhyme or reason to the events that happen. However, it was the ending that was the biggest letdown for me.
[spoiler]In the end, the bad guy doesn't seem to suffer any adverse effects, despite burning a theater down, stabbing his mentor and trying to summon an evil demon. [/spoiler]

다른 아티팩스 문디 게임들과 비슷비슷하게 악의 물건에 욕심부리는 나쁜놈과
그걸 막으려는 착한 녀석. 사이에 껴서 삽질하는 주인공으로 이루어진
흔한 미스테리 오컬트 판타지 스토리입니다.

맵의 분량은 상당히 많은 듯 하지만 물건 찾기라던지 퍼즐이 많이 부족한 느낌이 듭니다.
지나다니는 맵의 분기가 빠르게 지나가지만 그 맵과 연결되는 퍼즐이 적고
이음새도 많이 부족합니다.

한글이 거의 번역기 직역수준이라 해당 단어가 전혀 다른 단어가 들어가있습니다.
얼굴이라고 쓰여있는거 머그컵입니다. 머그 샷에서 고대로 붙여넣은 것 같습니다.
견장도 가죽끈입니다. 어깨에 다는 장식 아니예요.

아티팩스 문디 게임 답게 삽질 열심히 하라고 숨겨진 요소랑 카드 찾기는 뻔하게 만들어놨는데
이걸 또 중간에 하나 놓쳐서 2번 다시 플레이 했습니다 돌아버리겠어요.

얘네 게임은 항상 비슷비슷해서 매일먹는 국밥같은 기분입니다.
아 이 퍼즐나오겠구나 하면 이 퍼즐이 나오고 그 퍼즐 나올 삘이네 하면 그 퍼즐이 나옵니다.
정말 시간 때우기랑 스팀 카드 나오는거랑 이거만한 오컬트 판타지 스토리 있는 포인트 클릭 게임이 없어서
이걸 계속 시리즈로 하게되는데 미운 정 고운 정 다 드는 기분이예요.

이 게임을 번들로 사셨다면 잘하셨습니다. 그냥 적당히 플레이하세요
쌩 돈 주고 사셨다고 하셔도 잘하셨습니다. 쌩 돈을 줬으니 이제 새 시리즈 또 나올거예요.

2017년 출시 게임 치고는 그래픽이 영 별로이고, 인물들의 움직임도 매우 어색하다. 한글 번역은 시원찮고, 뭘 해야 하는지 잘 알기 어려울 때도 많다. 그래도 HOG 게임 처음 해 보는데 나름대로 재미는 있다. 스토리가 엉성한 것 빼고.

난 이 게임 랜덤 키로 얻은 것이라서 누가 이 게임을 산다면 말리고 싶다. 그런 의미에서 추천 여부에는 아니요를 누르겠다. 게임이 할인돼서 천 원 이하라면 한 번 사는 것도 괜찮을 듯.

You are a reporter in Paris. You are planning to go to an opera or musical and during the show, the main character gets kidnapped and disappears. With the help of another actor and the actress' brother, you go after her to try and save her.

I thought this was a great hidden object game. It fit all the needed categories, Good graphics with good detail, decent storyline to put it all together, and some casual puzzles along the way too.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this one as it's a new company developing the game for Artifex Mundi, but they pulled through and I'm not disappointed. Definitely get this if you're interested in this genre of game.

本游戏是个笑里藏刀的游戏。乍一看，这游戏只有13个成就，看起来很容易拿到的样子，可实际玩过以后，才会发现本游戏的成就其实是属于相对难拿的那种。
因为本游戏和Artifex的大多数游戏不同，有一个成就要求玩家“在专家模式通关”。这个成就和找物环节（HOS）的相关成就是冲突的（虽然也不是不可能同时拿到）。因为找物环节有两个速通，要求玩家在几秒内连续找到几个物品，又要求玩家快速通关，因此一贯的应对方法是到处瞎点。但是专家模式下有防乱点机制，导致如果游玩专家模式，拿到这几个成就的难度就会比较高。
建议玩家先从简单模式开始，通关一次再玩专家模式。因为专家模式下很多提示功能都没有了，又鉴于上述原因，如果一周目是专家模式，有很大的风险拿不到那几个HOS的成就。本人一周目通关花了2个多小时，二周目专家模式又花了1个小时。
至于游戏本身，可以说是平庸之作。是Artifex的经典套路剧情，大致就是主角跟着反派屁股后头一路吭哧吭哧地跑。但是本作有一个很有特色的地方，堪称是亮点，就是本游戏后期的迷宫寻路环节做得非常用心。玩家先需要在地图上规划路线，然后按图索骥，寻找地标通过迷宫。中间会有几个特殊场景，需要解谜才能过去。这段迷宫寻路无论是长度还是趣味性，都明显高于一般Artifex的游戏，老实说，即使在二周目里，我仍然不感到厌倦。
顺带一提，本作女主追着的女演员，叫[strike]贝阿朵莉切·卡斯缇丽奥妮[/strike]贝亚特丽齐，和《神曲》的女主同名。然而，《神曲》明明是意大利作品，但本作的剧情却发生在法国，有点怀疑是不是我孤陋寡闻了，还是本作开发者起名字的时候对错了国籍……

A hidden object adventure set inside the Paris opera? I must play it! The story was pretty interesting and the settings were gorgeous. It was a very linear play through in the sense that actions often needed to be done in a certain order to make a hidden object scenes available - something I sometimes find either frustrating or makes it too easy. Most of the achievements are easy to get in one play through, however I did run through it another couple of times to get the collectable items - the illusion items in particular were not very obvious, but there's a fantastic guide for these.

Picked it up on sale and glad I got a chance to play it!
