Суть в том, что мы работаем за компом и сканируем лица, получаем за это деньги, прокачиваем комп (процессор, охлаждение, память, оперативку), чтобы быстрее сканировать (сначала делаем это вручную, потом делается всё это автоматически). При этом есть переписка с руководством в почте и с другими майнерами. В игре есть бесконечный режим, а так она проходится где-то часа за 3. Своих денег стоит, т.к. игра необычная и этим привлекает. В ней отдыхаешь от остальных рутинных игр и получаешь огромное удовольствие, однозначно рекомендую всем.

Cool idler with a very nice soundtrack and an interesting theme.

In the beginning of the game you're asked if you want to play fast, default or slow mode. I played default and found it a bit too grindy. You should probably take fast mode.

IMO it lacks much replay value but for the price I think you can get a fun 1.5 -2 hours out of it. Def Recomend

I look at the screen in front of me. An off white CRT screen. It makes a low humming noise. At the bottom right side of it I can see the date reads 2/8/1999. I press the escape key and a small dropdown pulls upward the at the bottom left side of me. It welcomes me with a gallery of a few wallpapers. They're all kinda pixelated. They're cool though. Comforting. After a couple of seconds browsing, a text file on my desktop catches my attention and so I click on it. It opens and a couple of paragraphs (in all times new roman) display before me. It describes with flawless corporate jargon a job position that I've apparently been hired for. This all feels nostalgic. Strange. Slightly Lovecraftian. These are the first few seconds of Faceminer.

Of course there's a music player. I don't even have to press play as vast musical landscapes of Drum 'n Bass start giving life to the tepid off grays of the OS. The tracks are really good. It grooves man. It make me fill my veins with pure frutiger aero juice. The grind starts and I honestly would never have thought that I would enjoy having a day job while having a day job (I'm playing this game mid shift).
All immersive game review writings aside. This is SUCH a cool game and I love this ♥♥♥♥. To be honest one way to summarize this game would be to say that it's a very glorified idle game in the best of ways. The whole gist of the game is that you have recently been employed to work for a surveillance (allegedly) company that needs to manually verify faces of people that have been captured through cameras installed through the world. You upgrade your rig so you can automate the clicking and balance overheating components and moral outrage. It's such a well crafted system and the scope of the game is great. I feel like the dev's elevator pitch really gives it the justice it deserves - quaintly put, "Build a biometric data harvesting empire from scratch in FACEMINER, the hardcore thriller clicker set in 1999. Classify data, upgrade mining infrastructure, and scale up your A.I. surveillance empire to obscene ends in this creepy narrative-driven incremental management sim with a dystopian twist."

Progression gets real hectic real fast as you star receiving emails from your bosses and coworkers giving you small hints of lore from the world. Stakes go higher and higher and you start earning hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars per second. As the game progresses you keep hearing from your coworkers about how the world heat index keeps increasing and more lore through emails show that the advances you're making and the automatization you're building is actually impacting the world in a negative way - and after many promotions and getting the heat index to 100 farenheit, you get one that's called "The Chosen 1". Things start to get reaaaaalllly frekin weird. The cool thing about it all is how the game interweaves the gameplay with the lore and what's happening with the world.

Things go off the rails real quick when you start getting more emails from people outside the Faceminer organization saying that you actually might be the only employee in the company and well, I really don't wanna spoil more than I already have.

All in all, happy to live in a Severance-esque world 4.5 literal worlds on fire out of 5 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I'm going to be totally honest here, I had no idea this was a clicker game until I started - totally on me for not actually digging deeper before I bought it - I assumed it would be actually going over CCTV footage and signaling out faces with some gritty, on-the-nose story about the surveillance state. Maybe the twist was going to be that we where tracking wanted people/enemies of the government? Something on that line. Nothing at all what the actual game (or message of the game) ended up being.

So, mildly disappointed, I decided to play for at least an hour and maybe get a refund if didn't like it after that point. I blink, it' now 2 in the morning, and I've been sitting at my desk for just shy of 4 in real life hours listing to nothing but the clicking VFX and the soundtrack on loop. I didn't even notice that the date had changed.

I THEN had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DREAM about this game. A dream!!!!!! Hello. What the hell. I'm like the dude in one of the emails.

In the dream, I was telling someone how I had been getting into two video games lately. One a number-goes-up game like this with bare-bones presentation like universal paperclip, and another where it also had a dessert bus-like gameplay loop where you also had to keep your attention as you drove around. The driving wasn't on rails, you could go wherever you want and the area that I explored looked a lot like the suburbs that I grew up in. You couldn't crash, but you also couldn't get lost. There would always be more road. I don't remember if I was in a car or a motorbike, but I was on my own. The elements of 'manage lots of things at once' seemed to leak through both dream games.

Then I woke up with my alarm, went back to sleep because I needed it, and had to deal with an evil clone. I don't think that was related.

Good game. I'm going to go and have a coffee and finish the story now. Hopefully. I feel like the learning curve at the start is a bit much, but I think I just did it wrong. It took me a while to get automation set up because doing it manually really was the best go for my playthrough for a while.

Мне, как любителю кликеров, симуляторов и подобных штук, ОЧЕНЬ понравилось, в один присест я просидела 4 часа и ни о чем не жалею, считаю, что это реально круто сделанный симулятор майнера. То, что реально есть русская озвучка меня подкупило и этого я вообще сперва испугалась из-за непривычки. В общем, если вам нравиться автоматизировать и улучшать процесс то эта игра для вас.
Правда во время игры я пару раз натыкалась на то, что музыкальный плеер требовал к себе внимание, и куда я не тыкни, двигался именно он, но это было не настолько бесяще и быстро прекращалось, так что из 4 часов это единственный минус.

Faceminer is an idle game with some management properties to it, where unlike other idle games you can't just upgrade willy-nilly as upping your hardware too much too fast can cost you when your electricity bill goes higher than what you make or your cooling systems can't keep up and your system overheats. The game does give you some time to downgrade whatever is pushing you over the edge so it's not an instant game over.

The game scales at a pretty decent pase, even on the "Slower" mode. It adds new upgrades to buy and additional costs and metrics to keep an eye on and keep down like water usage and emissions.

At first there is no clear end goal to the game with the small amount of story it starts with making it seem you're simply doing this for money, but as you progress and your data center grows and grows things start to slip up and things you shouldn't have known become known to you.
The game's end is a bit ambigous, whatever you were trying to do is not shown but it's pretty clear based on the "Planetary Heat Index" and the blaring sirens that you've essentially caused the end of the world with your actions by producing so much heat from facemining that the Earth's average temperature has risen to 50C and continues to climb until it all ends.

At the very end it is revealed that this was all in reality just some kind of simulation of probably somekind of AI to see what it would do in such a scenario. This entire game is clearly a commentary on AI hype-cycle going on in the real world currently.

Overall a pretty fun idle game where even a "slow" playthrough lasts only a few hours. Achievement hunting adds to it quite a lot but none of them are that tedious other than maybe the Heat Death achievement.

Got this game as part of a bundle, so I definitely wasn’t expecting to find such a gem. I absolutely love the aesthetic of the classic OS; the OST was super enjoyable and really fits the theme (I’ve added several tracks to my work playlist). While the little tweaks implemented in this game may not revolutionize the clicker genre, it definitely brings a challenge and actual stakes.

I have never felt this uncomfortable from a non-“gory” game before. You just keep going, trying to improve performance so it will all end faster, but crossing the finish line brings you no satisfaction whatsoever. I genuinely had to sit for a minute, staring at the wall and listening to what was left of the world. Then I accidentally got an achievement for exploring the end title while I was desperately trying to figure out how to shut this game the hell down.

FACEMINER conveys its message perfectly and really makes you question just how much of an impact one mere person can have. Are you seeking a dose of existential crisis and a feeling of impending doom? Then look no further, as this game will definitely leave a strong impression on you.

I give it a 9/10 — a must-have experience.

Вкратце. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ стиль. Просто неебический вайбик схожий с атмосферой аналогового хоррора. Хотя за 25 минут игры я вообще не нашел ничего страшного. Зато уже полностью осознал гейМПЛей. Сюжет пока непонятен, но потенциал кульминации и методов давания лора в рот игрокам видится крутым. Особенно с учетом того что есть озвучка на русский. Озвучка будто сделана через нейронку, но это даже плюс к вайбу так сказать. Короче, к покупке советую, но это на любителя.
Из минусов пока могу написать ток слишком лайтовое начало. А может это потому что я начал на самой легкой сложности. Просто странно что тебе в самом начале открывают все программы не давая взаимодействовать с рабочим столом ибо все что нужно уже открыто. Минут пять смотришь на всё, читаешь обучалку и потом не трогая окна начинаешь игру. Хотелось бы открыть одну программу, узнать что там да как и зачем. Хотя с другой стороны пока игра тебя торопит у тебя нет времени всё смотреть и в ходе игры кликая на лица потихоньку замечаешь разные вещи. Ещё выбивает из атмосферы озвучка сообщений с почты. Зачем сразу в лицо игроку пихать подобное. Дали бы возможность сначала играть читая записки самому, а потом уже получить возможность купить прогу какую-нибудь чтобы та озвучивала приходящие письма. Но это все - моя хотелка, может что-то до чего я доебался на самом деле присутствует на более высоких сложностях.

Ever-growing, Insatiable hunger for expansion with the seasoning of "High Productivity" OST that actually makes love with your soul. Sometimes you find yourself clicking those upgrades . Few moments later you find yourself saying "Am I doing wrong?". But when the flow kicks in your brain, you will be fixated on those faces while the music stimulates your senses. You lock onto defiling privacy of unknown figures for your empire of hardware with precision. You will always remind yourself "Flesh is weak but data is eternal"
My only advice for new miners: Let the OST do its job and, as always, keep growing...

I can't in good conscious make a deeper review on this game other than that it's a statement, a very viscerally concerning and depressing statement, but a statement. Going into this game completely blind and experiencing every part of it for yourself is the only way this should ever be experienced. Genuinely one of one peak.
