For a space sim its OK, Id say 7/10. Solid graphics and gameplay, decent story although it starts very slow. I was hoping to something like Freelancer or Tachion from the good ol days but this game is way more arcadey. Not a waste of time but also not a game I will miss in any way shape or form.

A very linear single player space game where there is no choices. The combat is alright, the characters are... cartoonish and so is the world. Actions don't feel like they have any weight, there is no reputation. I dunno its not a bad game and if I could have a choice inbetween yes and no id pick that but for me its not really something id recommend.

前作と比べてストーリーが死ぬほどつまらない上に主要登場人物のほとんどが魅力的じゃなくて萎える。
ストーリーの紙芝居をセリフごとに早送りできたら良かったのにそういうのもない。

序盤が非常に苦労したゲーム。

プレイヤーがゲームを始めて最初にすべきことは機体操作の調整だろう。
主観視点にしたり、慣性を切ったり、キーコンを弄ったりで満足する操作になるまで結構時間がかかった。

難易度はノーマル相当で始めたが、まだ勝手が分からないのもあって敵にすぐ撃墜される。
序盤の3,4時間くらいが一番難しさを感じた。ソウルライクかってくらい宇宙の藻屑になった。
ステージ入った時点でオートセーブが入るのでやり直しは楽。

しかし相手はドローンを展開したりしていて複数で攻めてくるのが基本だし、偏差射撃で的確に攻撃を当ててくる。
一方のこっちはエイミングもゴミで攻撃が当たらない。結果として削られて落とされる。

装備は売るより解体するのが正解だと分かって、自作も可能だと気付いてからはマシになった。
装備やデバイスが充実し、立ち回りを覚えられればプレイヤーのほうが一方的に勝てるようになる。
勝てるようになると戦闘は結構楽しく感じるようになった。（フラックやサーモガンは正義）

だがスナイパードローン。超火力超精度長射程のこいつはエンドコンテンツにまで出てきて即死させてくる。
独特の効果音や射線を見つけたら、何を置いても最優先で潰さないと殺される。
こいつだけおかしい。

探索はパズルが多い。
コアやスフィアを別の場所に運搬するとか、ボタンを撃って解除するとかでリソースや装備といった報酬が貰える。（そしてまたパズルが出てくる）
ギミックの難易度もそんなに高いものはなく、パズルが好きならオススメかもしれないが、正直言うと終始これだけなので飽きる。

本編クリア後に遊べるエンドコンテンツは戦闘がメインのもの。レジェンド装備を入手できる機会だが、本編を周回できるわけではないので、DLCが無ければ活躍の場所がそのエンドコンテンツ内くらいになるだろう。
難易度を自分で弄れるので程々くらいだと歯ごたえもあって結構楽しい。

Имеется сюжет, который как минимум не раздражает.
Чисто по геймплею очень даже неплохо. Стрельба приятная, цветные пушки сочно делают пиу-пиу, управление корытом простое, аркадное, удобное.
Много разного оборудования т.е. "абилок" для корабля.
Открытый мир - ограниченные локации, между которыми перемещаешься на варп тяге.

Вроде бы, все неплохо и графика приятная, но есть какой-то нездоровый перекос в сторону гринда.
Прилетаешь на локацию, быстро убиваешь все, что шевелится и начинаешь пылесосить ящики и ресурсы.

Klassischer Looter-Shooter mit gutem Loot-System, welches qualitativ an Borderlands 2 heranreicht - also sehr motivierendes "looten und leveln".

Mit Addon sehr lange Hauptstory, mit den DLCs sehr umfangreiches Endgame nach dem Levelcap (30).

Schöne Grafik, profitiert wegen der vielen dunklen Flächen stark von OLED-Monitoren. Lediglich bei manchen Texturen wäre eine höhere Auflösung schön gewesen.

Худший космосим в который я играл. Хуже чем даже Фрилансер, вы шедший еще до нашей эры.
Игру я полностью прошел и вот что могу сказать:
1) Механика боя так-сяк наверное единственное на что можно обратить внимание. Есть 9 разных классов кораблей с различными механиками для боя - можешь метаться по полю боя как блоха, можешь быть жирным и тупо танковать урон, можешь стоять далеко и бить больно.
2) Перемещение -весьма сомнительно и местами ужасно:
- отсутсвие 3д миникарты в космосиме это ужас. Потеряться в поле боя легко и вы будете это делать и в начале и в конце игры.
- платформинг - ЗАЧЕМ??? это самая ужасная часть игры. примитивнейший - нужно быстро пролететь или чтото быстро пронести из точку А в точку Б - все это все варианты. Проблема только в том что эти точки А и Б вы можете искать по полчаса и не найти. Ужасный геймдизайн платформинга.
3) Торговля - тупо бессмысленна не заработаете совсем, зачем ресурсы торговли вообще есть не понятно.
4) Эндгейм-контент - он весь состоит из боев, такчто норм - проходите порталы, зачищайте маяки, воюйте с дредноутом, прочищайте кишечник левиафану. Все норм.
5) Основной сюжет - впринципе даже было интересно. и тоже почти весь из боев состоит.
И отдельно хочу уделить внимание этой никчемной тупой и чезе жопу сделанной миссии в чертогах твоего разума: ты непонятный объект находящийся в какомто анусе. В этом анусе темно, но местами его просвечивают фонариком. И вот ты по нему летишь и слушаешь мысли. А потом тебе в этом анусе начинают встречаться какахи. И их надо облетать. И их становится больше и больше. а управление какоейто конченое и ничхрена не видно. Тебя все время несете куда то в стороны. И это последнее что я хочу видеть в играх про космос.
Лучше поиграйте в иксы или космических рейнджеров. Эта игра внимания не стоит.

Space games usually don't have very deep combat mechanics due to the nature of space itself: Big and empty. Even some popular games have combat no more complex than who has bigger guns and can spin in faster circles. Everspace 2 does a great job of surpassing this limitation by adding lots of cover, loot, and interior spaces to each combat area. Weapons act differently and are highly skill based to aim.

I like how trading is present, but can be done alongside missions and combat to supplement your income. In most games it's just a boring grind that takes all your inventory space, but here trading doesn't take that much space and you are told directly what is and what is not a good deal.

Lastly, this game has the best control mapping implementation I've ever seen. Great for joystick users, which you'll want to use for the best experience.

Unlike its predecessor, Everspace 2 isn’t a roguelike but a single-player looter shooter with RPG elements. The execution is excellent and addictive. It's one of the best space games I played in years. I hope Everspace 3 follows a similar gameplay formula - but a new roguelike spin-off would be cool too!

Pros:
- Graphics
- Combat is arcade-style and fun
- Spaceships play quite differently
- Sound design is great
- Lots of content

Cons:
- Gets a bit monotonous after a while
- True fast travel unlocks too late
- Enemy scaling is sometimes a bit

If you loved 2003's Freelancer, this will be a welcome blast from the past.

Pros
- Visuals. Space looks great and the explosions and weapon effects are very satisfying. Some of the vistas are genuinely breathtaking. Ships are highly detailed and the engine overall is very polished. It also ran great on my rig with high FPS with everything maxxed out.
- Combat. If you're not ready for it, it can be a little disorienting at first, but this is true zero-G space combat. You can adjust interial dampening if you'd rather not go flying around all over the place. There's lots of options too. You can grab a little scout fighter and fly around super fast or an enormous gunship and tank all the damage while dumping DPS on enemies. Up to you.
- Ship customization. It's not that deep, but it's fun to swap cosmetic modules around and change paint schemes to fit your taste. You DO have to find modules and colors out in the game world, though.

Cons
- Voice acting. This is something the game has in common with Freelancer. Some VAs aren't that bad, but more than half aren't good. Bonus if the character has a regional accent.
- Cutscenes. I'm not a fan of the "motion comic" cutscenes, but they get the job done.
- Occasional difficulty spikes.
- Some features like fast travel (which you have to unlock via a quest) are poorly explained.

It looks great, building out your ship is a lot of fun and there aren't many 6DOF combat sims like this.

Игра классная, но у неё есть проблемы с балансом. Если решаешь сделать упор в раскачку своего любимого корабля, то достаточно быстро сталкиваешься с тем, что любые противники в любом количестве перестают представлять реальную угрозу (на максимальной сложности), при этом они настолько жирные, что использовать имеет смысл только одно оружие: скорострельный рейлган с модификатором на урон. У него самый высокий дпс как по щитам, так и по броне, причём с огромным отрывом от конкурентов. Только кинетический дробовик больше дпс по броне имеет, но это только против босов.
После этого интерес быстро угасает, потому что ничего нового для себя в игре ты уже не откроешь.
Тем не менее игра — огонь. Galaxy on Fire на максималках.

Amazing game, love it for so many reasons! If you like Diablo (Torchlight, PoE...) and space themed games, or if you loved Freelancer back in the day and wish there was a modern sequel, this is pretty much a must have.

The greatest pros in my eyes:

- [b]controls and combat feel amazing[/b]. I love that while it is quite arcade-y (which is not my preference) and responsive, it still feels like you are in space, not in atmosphere, due to just enough inertia and 6 degrees of freedom maneuvering being quite prominent
- [b]plenty of variety in terms of gameplay[/b], lots of cool side missions (loved them!), puzzles (loved them! - many simple or cookie-cutter ones, but quite a few creative and fun ones), random jobs and encounters of many different types, racing, nice achievements to hunt for, there is always something else to do when you get bored with one activity (but if you just want combat, there's plenty of it as well!)
- [b]gorgeous looking and amazingly varied environments[/b] - by that, I mean handcrafted, deliberate, lore-fitting environments, not something procedural like No Man's Sky (no shade to that game, it also has great variety, but that's a different kind)
- [b]lots of customization to match your play-style[/b], different ship classes, pilot and ship passives, devices (i.e. active skills), many different weapon types. I also love the visual customization options for the ships.
- it has its own [b]interesting lore, unique identity and charm[/b] (building on the foundations of the first Everspace). Yes, there are cliches and reused elements here and there, but as a whole it comes together as a distinct universe, with interesting places, factions and several memorable characters you can get invested in
- [b]you can get immersed in this game, but a play session doesn't require a huge time commitment[/b] on its own, you can get right into the meat of it and have a quick, fun run for half an hour, which is not something I managed to do in otherwise immersive games like Elite: Dangerous (maybe it's just me)

[h3]Expansions[/h3]

The base game on its own is already great, but the expansions ([i]Titans[/i] and [i]Wrath of the Ancients[/i]) make it even better. In base [i]Everspace 2[/i], the world felt a bit small to me in terms of number of star systems (in terms of areas, there are quite a few), for example compared to something like Freelancer. However, the Wrath of the Ancients expansion rounds it out quite well with the 4 new systems. Another bit of complaint I would have is that the end-game combat activities are a bit limited and repetitive in the base game (if you want to stick to high-level challenges and don't consider lower level missions), to which both expansions add some more variety, which is welcome.

[h3]Performance[/h3]

I run it on higher settings for the amazing visuals, on a 1080p monitor, and my RTX 3060 with my Core i5-13600KF can mostly handle it just fine. Some areas where there is more stuff (large structures especially) can get a bit laggy (still playable), and with many enemies, it is not exactly buttery smooth either, so I wouldn't say it's the best optimized game ever, but it is not bad whatsoever. I also run it on Linux using proton, so that could affect performance as well.

Starts out really strong but gets tedious. I'd say play the demo and if you think you can repeat that gameplay loop for 30+ hrs then buy it. It has a few surprises and looks really nice especially the planetside levels, but then just stacks on piles of repetitive low-paying missions that all play out the same.

The game is peppered with genius but is consistently marred by frustrating design decisions, like challenges where you have to find something but can't since it doesn't appear on radar and is impossible to find, or races that play like Superman 64 with the most annoying robot voice you've ever heard. The story is initially interesting but in the second area you're just going on one errand after an another and pushed to do all these tedious side-missions. Everything takes so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time and at the end of a play session I really gotta ask myself : "is this fun? Did I have fun at all?" and the answer is too often no. It's a real shame since there's some groundworks for a really fun game here, but not the repetitive grindy looter-shooter they designed here.

You're better getting Everspace 1. I don't remember ever getting bogged down by tedium in that game and it's basically the same ship gameplay.

Der wahre Nachfolger von Freelancer!

Wer früher Freelancer geliebt hat, wird hier endlich wieder glücklich. Everspace 2 ist ein großartiger Weltraum-Shooter, der genau die richtige Mischung aus Action und Freiheit findet.

Was mir besonders gut gefällt:

Grafik: Absolut top, besonders mit modernen Karten (läuft bei mir mit einer RTX 4090 butterweich).

Story: Spannend erzählt und in den richtigen Momenten echt witzig.

Gameplay: Die Kämpfe machen süchtig, und die Handelsmöglichkeiten geben dem Spiel die nötige Tiefe.

Atmosphäre: Es fühlt sich einfach gut an, das All zu erkunden und sein Schiff ständig zu verbessern.

Fazit:
Es macht wirklich Spaß und ist für jeden Weltraum-Fan ein Muss. Absolute Kaufempfehlung!

This is the best space flying and combat game I’ve experienced in ages. It’s on par with Star Wars: Squadrons, House of the Dying Sun, and Project Freedom before that. The flight and combat mechanics form the backbone of the entire experience, and they make the game an absolute joy to play. On top of that, the game is gorgeous. Flying through solar systems between planets, moons, and incredibly creative locations is beautifully immersive. The story is also a direct continuation of the first game and tells a fun, blue-collar sci-fi tale where you gradually build a capable team and step into the role of the hero. I loved every freakin minute of it.

With that said, there are a couple of important things to know before jumping in. First, this game is a full RPG adventure, which is a completely different genre from the first title. The original game was a rogue-lite, so the shift here is significant. Personally, I think it’s a wonderful change, but it’s definitely worth noting.

Secondly, and my only real gameplay issue, is what I consider a major design flaw in the progression system. Your character’s level progression will not keep up with the main quests alone. The game effectively requires you to complete side quests and world events to stay viable in terms of health and combat capability. Quite a bit as well! If you focus only on the main storyline, you will quickly become under-leveled and get wrecked by even the weakest enemies. I enjoy side quests and exploration quite a bit, but even then I sometimes struggled to stay adequately powered. This can be frustrating when you’re excited to push forward in the main story but have to pause just to grind experience.

That said, I still highly recommend this game. Great space adventure titles with truly satisfying flying and combat mechanics are rare, and the ones we do get often struggle in key areas. Everspace 2 is a refreshing exception. It’s brilliant, and absolutely worth playing.

I recommend this game with a few caveats.
I played the first one a bit, really neat roguelike with space ships. I really wanted to like the second one as well, on paper I should love it. But for whatever reason it didn't click.
One was - I feel the game is too clean - the ship moves too straight, the explosions, etc. don't seem very impactful. It's like someone tuned down the grittiness down to an "excel spreadsheet" level. Also, flying between systems is way too often and too long. Not sure if some kind of fast travel unlocks as you progress but I won't get there.
The game is beautiful though. Recommended if you want to play a Freelancer-like game, but if you are coming here from the first EVERSPACE, manage your expectations.

I wanted to like this game. Sadly if you want to play HOTAS or HOSAS it is unplayable.
Constant issues with keybinds and inputs.
Play it on gamepad and you might have a good time but that is not for me and that is not why I bought this game.
Also missing VR support but that is just something I would like, not a reason for negative review.

This Game is Assassins Creed in Space.
It has a nice vibe and fun gameplay, and an okay(ish) plot.
BUT(t) all those child puzzles again and again and again breaking the suspension of belief. you fiddle around with those shoot the bad guys and farm ore. in a manner thats only feels gamey.

Quite a remarkable game, with an innovative use of the Unreal engine. Much more an ARPG than a space combat simulation, and that's OK. Good writing bolstered by some good voice acting really make this a compelling, well-done story, and a lot of fun to play.

An equally exhilarating and disorienting adventure.

On one hand you have an epic space adventure with complete control of positioning thanks to it's 6DoF controls, giving you a complete feel of a space pilot. Exploration is also encouraged with side quests hidden in least expected spots, thanks to it's handcrafted areas. Combined with said freedom of movement, it allows them to put some really elaborate secrets; it might not look like it at the beginning but towards the end the way they design these secrets starts to really shine, and you're equally rewarded rather nicely in loot and/or Mainframe Components; the game's take on attribute point system. Keyword being... rather, but more of that later.

The combat aspect of the game works fine, and the 6DoF allows certain degree of skill expression in terms of dodging enemy shots and getting advantegous positions. The varied selection of weapons (both primary and secondary) and assortments of devices (basically Abilities) allows you creating a playstyle of choice. Devices can also be upgraded, giving them an extra utility bonus out of a choice of 3, providing the synergy one desires out of an RPG. Outside of combat and loot, you also have other forms of progressions in money and perks where you can mine and trade your way to grinding the much needed resources to upgrade your perks that helps you rather immensely.

On the other hand... when it comes to "interior" level designs (basically exploring everything in a base / a cave system), trying to find each and every one of the secrets can be straight up disorienting with just how many gaps it has. Even traversing your way out of a dead end can be a struggle when most of the time it's dark (or any kind of zero visiibility conditions) and/or in cramped space. The indicators the game puts does little help when it's located inside the structure and you have to circle the entire structure itself just to find an opening that you can go through. In fact, it's not just the interior level design, even secrets out in the open can be equally frustrating to find as most of the time you are wandering around the same spots you've explored, just from a different direction in hopes your radar notices something for you to interact on.

Progression also has it's own issues with it's loot. So all that effort you take to reveal a secret... and all you get is... a Mainframe Component and a handful of undesirable equipment, just ready to be scrapped. Some options are rather exciting, yes (like coils that can do poison-damage like ticks), some unique variants of a weapon type has interesting properties, but most of the time they are rather banal, such as increased XP / Credits, increased damage on specific factions, increased damage on higher level enemies (level cap is 30) or even typical stat gains that softcaps way too quick to give substantial gains. Even the crafting aspect is severely limited in what you can do, despite how expendable the loot is.

There is also level scaling, although in my opinion it doesn't really affect my experience that much, coming from Very Hard difficulty where everything just claps you easily. It just makes you never feel really comfortable, although by the time you get T3 ships you have enough Device Upgrades to come up with a skill loadout that can tackle everything, albeit rather slowly.

All in all it's still an enjoyable experience. It can occupy you for up to hundreds of hours, but can't help but to be frustrated at parts.

I was very positive about this game at the beginning, but after ~50th fight i started to hate this game.
It gives you fun for first 5-10 fights and upgrades. But boy oh boy, be ready to go through the same fight so much time that you'll have an ultimate move just to jump into the crowd and deal with those little bots as fast as you can to save your time. It would be "okay" if you at least would have a possibility to build your own ship, but no... you should go to the market each time with crossed fingers to hope that the next level of the plane you plan to buy would be there. WHY? FOR WHAT??? I hate this part especially.
Many parts of this game was created for nothing. Just to take your time. It is like an MMO but without multiplayer.
Clearing bases, killing stacks of bots and searching the garbage in space for another garbage which will boost your performance for 1%. Who made this game design or approved it??? Please, dont give him another game! Let him take his money for doing nothing, it will be less damaging for the gaming industry.
Plot. Well, it is ok. Nothing to say more. Not bad, but nothing to be happy about, because all you tasks will be as described above (clear, kill, search). So even if authors would like to create something not so trivial it would be impossible due to game design.
Anyway, i tried my best to like this game.
But the grind strangled me.

The developers cannot handle criticism and feel the need to lecture you for not liking the game enough.

The dogfighting in this game is fun but that's about it. You spend hours just traveling in space. Not exploring, just following a straight line to a mission objective for 5 minutes. You might get some dialogue but it's so bad you wish you could skip it like you do the rest. That's not even mentioning the "puzzles" which consist of you wandering through empty space looking for 3 things that aren't marked in any way and that you have to be looking in the right way IN OUTER SPACE to see x3 or 4. All so you can get loot you can't use.

There is a good game in here somewhere but they didn't find it.

Freelancer был лучше.

Да, графика тут посовременнее, зато вместо катсцен рисунки. Хотя лично мне они понравились, не выглядит как способ сэкономить (это он и есть), видно, что художники постарались. Персонажи хоть и плоские, но почти все приятные. Звёздные системы разнообразные и красочные. Корабли выглядят круто и кастомизация очень глубокая, в ангаре можно провести много времени.

Видно, что люди старались. Чего, к сожалению, не скажешь о гейм-дизайнерах, да и левел-дизайнерах: что ни квест, то либо примитивно просто, либо не понятно что от тебя требуется, хотя это тоже примитивно просто, но только игра даже не намекает на решение (которое тут только одно). Помимо денег, которые нужно будет заработать на корабль покруче, нужен ещё уровень персонажа, а так же уровень шмота, который генерируется рандомно. То есть ты не можешь пройти сюжетку, не задушившись искусственно затянутыми побочными квестами, простенькими перестрелками и покупкой-продажей вещей, экономика которых примитивна, статична и слегка рандомна.

Не могу сказать, что игра прям плохая, но проходить её желание отпало. Во многих аспектах игры вспоминается, что во Freelancer было лучше.

I feel about situated to actually put together a review now that I'm more or less done with the game.

This game is a peculiar specimen to me, owing to some dissonant elements of its game design, that ultimately gets a recommend from me.

The moment to moment gameplay is fantastic, flying and fighting feels great, and bizarrely the game is filled to the brim with physics puzzles that'll get you treating most environments like a curious Corvid.

The story's nothing to write home about but it's perfectly functional.

However, one aspect I can very forwardly criticize? The MMO-Like progression and perpetual post-game grinds.

This game doesn't have an online component that'd make any of that make sense, and there's no post-game narrative content that'd require you to have a super-optimized build to survive.

And yet it implements upgrade systems and loot systems that incentivise you to spin the wheel and play for ages hoping for either rare loot or resources to upgrade your gear.

In a single-player game, this is pretty superfluous game design, it doesn't deepen the experience meaningfully, at the very least the associated game modes are fun to play even if the system is ultimately nonsensical.

So, Overall, recommend, but a lot of effort was spent on systems that don't belong in a singleplayer RPG.

Amazing open-world space game which is inspired from Freelancer, an old videogame that still holds up today. The visuals and gameplay is very fun and engaging, and there are a lot of items for you to find. However, the story is not engaging. The cutscenes are interesting, they are all hand drawn with voiceovers but yet the plot isn't really that great, and like the later half of the game seems to be a generic hollywood hero story behind it. The game world is also soulless. You only have pirates roaming around and the occasional system police fighting them, but that's all that ever happens and most random events only happen when you're travelling in Supralight (like travelling the highway in-between systems). NPC chatter is also the same lines played over and over again, and none of the game ever shows the consequences of your actions to the world as if everything doesn't change over the course of the story. Still though, another example of gameplay > story/worldbuilding and it shows really well.

То, чем должна была быть первая часть. Вторая часть приятно отошла от вечного гринда, притягивая свой фокус к изучению мира. Нет, полноценно от гринда игра не ушла, но теперь он не чувствуется как душная часть. Планетарные полёты сделаны весьма условно, механически ощущаются как те же космические полёты, однако здорово разбавляет порой наскучившие космические пейзажи.

Looks, feels and sounds good. Fun to pilot but it's not a hardcore simulator. There's a little bit of drift but you eventually slow down on your own. Weapon variety is enough to have fun. Most build seem to be valid. I'm 13h in and I'm already seeing some repetitive gameplay loops but since I'm enjoying the setting and controls/experience it's not that big a deal. I picked it up on sale but now knowing what it is I'd buy it earlier.

Story is told in 2d comic/old Max Payne games style and it works well.

It's one of those games that If I won't finish or get bored I'll pick it up later as what it offers is pretty fun.

Nice space ship looter shooter. No multiplayer, no micro transactions.
I didn't play the first one so I can't compare to it.

This game feels a lot like Freelancer. While the game has a story which is ok, the focus seems more on gameplay. Story cutscenes are not really animated but do tell the story well.

In comparsion to current space games like X or Elite Dangerous I like it most as it's clearly about fighting and upgrading.

I remember why I didn't buy it in the first place.
When they released it they where showing a early cutscene sequence with a totally girlbossed character, that's when I put the game on ignore. However that character didn't have a additional voice line so far which is not what I expected.

Gameplay wise you can totally stray of the storry and do just missions or random encounters but you need the story for unlocks. The game encurages you to swap out your ship early on and basically exchange it for your old one if you don't have the money to keep your old one.

Plays nice with a controller and runs fine on Linux.

我没玩过前作，这个游戏是太空开飞船战斗游戏，击杀敌人掉落随机属性的装备。
首先，从剧情上讲，很愚蠢，感觉是编剧没带脑子的那种，老生常谈的斩草不除根，然后整出一些幺蛾子。剧情一般，主线不长，支线也没几个。
其次，从战斗上讲，敌人难锁定，这游戏没有视角锁定，我手柄开了自动瞄准，是那种远一点大致瞄着那里武器就吸上去了，但是越近越瞄不准敌人，反倒敌人像开了自瞄。
第三，从解密上讲，这游戏大部分的时间都是在各个地点整全收集，这游戏的解密都很难称得上是解密，就是找，纯找。它不是那种这个和这个配对，或者这个放这触发怎么的机关那种智力解密，而是纯找，就像“我在这个足球场里放了一张名片，你去找吧”的这种解密。
再者，有两个DLC包含两艘特殊的飞船，这关系到全成就，对希望全成就的玩家不是很友好。
最后，主线结束之后就是陷入无尽的刷刷刷，我想刷一下把传说装备的等级升一下，但是刷刷刷副本的难度都很高，刷刷刷的过程也很无聊，直接放弃了。
还有一点，音乐太少了，总是那几首听的我脑袋疼。
综上述：不谈情怀（我也没有什么情怀），单从游戏上讲，除了是少数的宇宙飞船战斗游戏之一外，并没有什么出彩的地方。游戏荒可以史低入。

I wish I could reccomend EVERSPACE 2. I really do.

I'm a sucker for all things Sci-fi, and the art direction and ship models dragged me in initially,
but EVERSPACE suffers a major design flaw that I just cant get over. I don't mind the floaty combat, I like the customisation of devices, the ships -while samey in design- function differently enough that I enjoyed trying out the different types, but the thirty seconds to minute and a half long loading screens between every single piece of content means I am putting the game down forever.

You will spend 5-10 minutes inside an arena, doing the mission, fighting, what have you, but then to fly anywhere else through the system takes so long I just can't stand it.
No Man's Sky does something simillar with the flight between planets, but there i'm spending upwards of 40 minutes on a planet exploring, harvesting resources, visiting POI's that I dont mind the 45 seconds it takes to get to another planet. But when EVERSPACE askes me to spend 15-20% of my gametime in a hands off cutscene of travel, I just feel insulted.

Unfortuately this is a fundimental flaw with how the game is designed, and no new content will ever fix it for me. Missions are too short, and the time between them far too long to ever be worth my time.

Since I’m not a fan of roguelite or roguelike games, I did miss Everspace when it was originally released. It was a curious combination of action RPG, space sim (or more space shooter) with the FTL: Faster Than Light inspired structure, where you were jumping between different procedurally generated locations, while being chased by a powerful foe. It did have a story, but the main draw of the game was specifically in that die and repeat nature of the genre and the fact that the space dogfights were quite fun. And then in 2023 the developers released the sequel Everspace 2 (although it was in Early Access for a few years), and with this game they’ve changed a lot in the direction that got me interested. Instead of a purely roguelite structure, a proper handmade world with interesting exploration, story, quests and all of the cool stuff I tend to like, while still keeping the fun space battles intact. Knowing that the game will get updates and DLCs, I decided to postpone my own playthrough and now, when the game is, as developers claim, in the more or less completely final state, I’ve decided to finally give it a go. And while it is quite a bit messy, I enjoyed playing it a lot.

So, action RPG, but you’re a spaceship, right? Basically, yes. There is an inventory, experience, money, items with colour-coded quality, special skills and all of the typical things one would expect from an action RPG or a looter shooter, except you’re not a person with a sword or a gun but a spaceship instead. And you have full six degrees of freedom in controls, which is not the most popular approach to action games in recent years. Back in the 90s it was all the rage – plane and space sims were aplenty, Descent was beloved (and Freespace 2 is still kept alive with plenty of mods). But lately – not too many games do that. So that’s a fresh element to Everspace 2 on its own. I wouldn’t call the controls and handling perfect, but it does feel really fun to pilot a ship in space, be it in a combat situation, or when trying to find secrets and carefully navigating in tight spaces.

But as I’ve mentioned – the levels in the game are not procedurally generated. Well, apart from optional activities. As such, the world is divided into several star systems and in each system you usually have a selection of markers to explore. Between them you move on the “overworld map” of sorts, which is expected from the setting (and fun), but rather uncommon for the genre, as no gameplay other than travel can happen there. But as you move there, some random encounters spawn that you may choose to enter, or you could ignore them and just keep moving to your intended destination. Each main location you enter has a bunch of hidden elements, all of which are hand placed and often involve some sort of puzzle solving and careful exploration and have rather smart breadcrumbing to help you find the general area where something interesting can be. And additionally the areas may have side quests, be parts of main quest or have little tasks that you can complete for a bonus reward.

The main story gradually opens more and more of the world for you, introduces new characters, new passive perks you can unlock, new concepts and mechanics and ways of travel… It’s really well paced, especially if you focus mainly on quests and not 100%-ing everything, and there’s a surprising amount of fun variety in what things the game does. All while keeping the basics of space combat and movement quite fun. Not every idea or mechanic works out as well as it could, of course – I didn’t like some of the mini-games and puzzle types, some of the more unique boss fights were just tedious and the very very occasional attempts at stealth were terrible. But for the most part, this game is extremely fun to play, especially if you’re like me and love exploring and finding secrets.

A huge shame is that a lot of the more optional systems and ideas are very disconnected and do not complement each other. Like – there’s a renown system that you gain through doing procedurally generated (and rather boring) quests. But it affects nothing else and nothing apart from these jobs can affect it. Even random encounters in the overworld that are often very similar in nature to these jobs are disconnected (and they also do nothing, apart from some simple immediate reward). Being a sequel to a roguelite game, this title has a lot of endgame repeatable junk events for the sake of getting cool loot and stuff, but they’re not really fun and constantly get in the way of just trying to play the story missions. You could trade and there are trading resources, but there’s not real benefit to even attempting to be a trader. There’s just a bunch of things that feel like they were added “just because” and all they do is bloat the game, that could be more focused and polished without these elements instead.

The DLCs for the game are kind of a mixed bag for mostly the same reasons. Titans integrates into the flow of the main game, adding two additional small questlines that unlock those repeatable boring things you can do. The longer questline is, surprisingly, less interesting both in concept and execution, while the shorter one is quite curious, but ends very abruptly just for the sake of being the repeatable activity. It’s not a bad addition for the game, but it’s also not as exciting as it could’ve been. Wrath of the Ancients, on the other hand, serves as a proper final chapter + Epilogue on the entire game (and, I guess, the first one too). It adds four new star systems, two of which become available closer to the end of the main game for optional exploration and two others become available after the end of the main game. You get to see interesting new worlds, some cool new ideas, explore more about the characters and it really feels like a natural part of the game. On the other hand, some of the gameplay stuff in the main story is horribly designed and also the music, that is absolutely fantastic in the main game, somehow manages to be very repetitive and grating in this DLC.

Everspace 2 is absolutely worth checking out. There’s a demo, so it should be a no-brainer to play that first. But if you’re interested in fun space exploration and combat, there really isn’t anything that is quite like it on the market anyway. I would’ve cut some locations out, personally, and removed some minigames and puzzles and such, and I also found everything that hardcore fans of action RPGs seem to like the most annoying thing to me. But, even after over 60 hours of playing, I was wrapping things up as fast as I could not because I was bored, but because I just wanted to play other games already, yet Everspace 2 was stealing all of my time. So, easy recommendation for the main game and as for the DLCs – if you want more of the story, grab Wrath of the Ancients (but you can do it after you’ve finished the main quest), and if you just want more of the game, grab Titans. Otherwise, you might be quite content with just the main game.

at first then game looked good, then around level 10 the progress extremely slowed down and enemies got completely overpowered until about level 15 when it felt normal again. but probably only because one quest gave me a legendary weapon. other than that it felt like an ok space arcade game, which however often gets interrupted by annoying puzzle sequences. overall it felt more like it's based on item drop luck than skill.

it's okay for a sale game, if you can handle annoying puzzles with drone mechanics that have the worst controls i ever experienced in a space game. but don't get it at full price, it's not worth the full price

i would give it a 2.5/5 (not bad yet not good either, and can bring both, a bit of fun and annoyance to you)
for me it was a bit too annoying with an average story and wasted time for travel (loading screens for travel mode and waiting until arrival felt like a waste of time rather than an experience)

Like Wing Commander of old, this combines story telling with lots of ship blasting, plus the addition of RPG elements / crafting.

The game grows along with you, and although there's a lot of go here, get McGuffin, transport it back to there, you don't have to do every one of those missions.

Loved the first game, and this is an improvement over that!

Been looking for a game more similar to Freelancer since 2005. This game has those similarities and expands on it in spades with puzzles, end game looter-shooter mechanics, ship customization out the wazoo, and ancient alien ruins in the case of the Wrath of the Ancients DLC. Easily one of my current favorites!
