I have 500 hours in this game, and I honestly don’t know how to play it.

I like to play with the Extended Timelines mod and choose the Picts up in Scotland. It takes me hours on the fastest time to be able to attack anyone else and it takes probably 5 hours of simply sitting and waiting until I’m able to cross the Channel. During that time, instead of learning about the intricacies of all of the nation building mechanics, I listen to the absolutely unhinged heavy metal soundtrack for a game that is basically digital Risk.

I’ve also played as Japan, China, England, India (or their precursors) and enjoyed every game.

You can also play with your friends who don’t know how to play the game.

I’ll never get a single achievement in this either because I’m a dirty ‘lil save scummer and like to have fun.
10/10 fun game. Also has like $1,000 worth of DLC you don’t need.

Muito difícil de aprender, precisa de um curso do YT pra pegar o básico e mais umas boas horas de prática. Comecei com os Gajos de Portugal, potência da época, já entrei logo em guerra com Granada e Marrocos, fui stompado, marrocos tomou tudo, não sobrou nada.

The game is fairly in depth about governing mechanics and aspects like wealth, trade, religion, unrest, military, terrain, development etc., while being kept relatively playable as most nations.

Each game might go more or less different, with different events and alliances occuring.
You could set yourself goals, go for achievements, try fun things or just have a chill game.

The mechanics take some time to be learned and perfected but it's doable.
Winning an difficult, important war and reaching a goal can feel quite rewarding.

The DLCs definetly add flavor to certain world regions, or add cool features that feel almost indespensable, but the game is playable without regardlessly. Also, there's an Abbonement now.

A lot like CIV, but a bit more serious and less fancy/friendly.

I don't know how I played so much of this through.

I put it as the goat of strategy games
If you like HOI4 and want a longer time period or want to go further back in time buy EU4 and play it its peak
If you like any strategy game just play it trust
(make sure to get DLCS tho, if you cant afford them just use the subscription to get all the DLCS and pay monthly or every 3 months)

I've played this game since I was 15-16 (around 2016) and I've grown up with game. It for sure influenced how I view history and politics and how my mind changed because of this game. I mainly recommend it if you are up for the challenge of learning tens of mechanics and how these play into your playthrough (eu4 wiki is gonna be your best friend here). It has social unrest, revolts, economy (though very shallow and not how it behaved in real life - if you want that go and play EU5, it is way more realistic) military, ideas, cool events and quite the challenge.

A really cool aspect of the game is how modable it is! It has so many cool mods, but the ones that I usually play with are:

Beyond Typus(BT) - which is a must have for me since vanilla is really boring without it - it makes the map way more bigger and I feel it that EU4 should've looked like this from the beginning!

The Expanded mods list; i.e goverment expanded, subject expanded, flavour and events expanded, etc. These are really nice to have though they might crash your game if you dont play only in vanilla ( I use them in conjuncture with Beyond Typus and sometimes its ok sometimes isnt you have to trial and error it to stabilize it)

The Third Odysee - makes the new world a lot more nicer to play in and gives you a story rich game and quite chill for the beginning of the game. (can be played only in vanilla map so no BT)

Annbenar - it is an alt-history world, which is a whole new game in itself so recommend to play after a you grasp the basic mechanics of the game, but its still one of the msot story rich mods in eu4.

Now, if you do decide to buy and play this game, I recommend having a really good CPU since it will make your game experience much better. You don't have to buy a very expensive X3D like mine (though the increased cache will massively help), you can just look for two main things: Ghz (the speed) and single core performance. Here the ammount of cores doesnt really matter. So look for a intel i3/i5 or a ryzen 3/5 with the best speed and look online (cpubenchmark .net) to compare the single core performance and then pick the best one for your budget.

Overall I highly recommend it, though one glaring issue is the DLC, you arent really playing the game if you do not have the DLC so I recommend either purchasing the subscription for a month (ro how much you want to play) OR to start sailing the 7 seas for alternative options.

This game is one that I have enjoyed for years now. Being frequently updated until the new EU5 has now come out with features that genuinely improve the game. The devs interact with the community, and the modding community being amazing. I almost exclusively play the Anbennar mod now as I am a big fantasy guy. All-in-all I have nothing but appreciation for this game and the developers.

Europa Universalis IV is the hit sequel to the mega flop that was Europa Universalis V. Paradox learned from their mistakes when making EU5, and released the perfect game EU4. Mission trees, coherent gameplay, flavour, EU4 has it all. Big step up from EU5 where the game doesn't even run good. GG!

아직은 4시간밖에 안해봤지만, 꽤 재밌다고 느껴집니다. '전쟁'이라는 요소가 지금까진 크게 느껴지지 않는데요, 오히려 이런 점 때문에 재밌는 것 같습니다. 전쟁 한 번 하는 데 준비도 필요하고 '명분'작업도 해야하고 여러가지 요소들을 고려하는 점이 재밌습니다.

전쟁은 무척 단순하게 표현되어 있는 것 같습니다. 전쟁을 중요하게 여기시는 분들은 이게 뭐야..라고 할지도 몰라요.
