this is an incredible game to play while baked
Very cute but can be hard the first time playing it, sandbox mode is great once you unlock it.

Cosy, little game. And one of best among titles with evolution mechanics. It is definately quick to unclock all species though.
I've never seen anyone talk about this game, but I found it on a whim one day and if my 145 hours is any indication, it was well worth the purchase. This game is so peaceful and calming. I personally love the poly art style as well. It scratches the "unlockable-s" itch well.
It's probably just me but I had a hard time getting into this game. I don't really feel 'in' it. I tried both standard and creative mode and this game just didn't do what I was expecting.
I can see the vision in this game. However, it has lots of logical flaws and questionable design choices. Like the missing options for time speed, constant back and forth in the UI to get infos and nonsensical requirements for evolution (e.g. wild mint needs 3 rabbits to evolve into a carrot, but rabbits need carrots as a hard requirement to satisfy their habitat needs). Also there is no world editor and entities do not spread on their own unless placed. TL;DR, lots of small things make the game a lot less enjoyable than it could've been.

Equilinox is a fun, cute and calm game, not much to get frustrated with and a good time waster. Getting to make all sorts of biomes, messing with some of the genetics of both animals and plants, unlocking new things via either genetic manipulation or from cohabitance with flora or fauna. Overall it's simple but not too simple. Only complaint is there really needs to be more animals, plants, and maybe even biomes. (it definitely has a good selection it's just after a long while you wish for more)
Its a super peaceful sandbox game that doesn't frustrate you with clunky systems and growth trees that make no sense. The game has its systems described and how to interact with them. The systems are awesome, i love my fish particularly. The artstyle does wonders for this game as well. It truly makes this game stand out in the face of all the others and makes it just that much better.
Its a 10/10 game and something id recommend you play for a few hours if youre ever down or stressed.
I like the game but the lack of World Generation options is a travesty. I have very little control over the hills and plains of my world and end up re-rolling over and over and over and over and over and over. It's really annoying. There should be a world overview that shows you the world before you accept playing on it.
Until this is added, I'm not recommending this game.
Dealing with really bad nausea right now, needed something calm and easy to play to distract myself. This works wonders if you want to calm down and take your mind off things for a bit.

Hasn't been updated in a long time and missing some key species (ex. bamboo mentions pandas eventually being added to the game, but there still aren't any) but very fun and the game mechanics are good.
Played the scenario, unlocked everything, then made my own paradise. Rinse, repeat.

I've had Equilinox sitting in my library collecting dust for a few years so I finally decided to try it out. And honestly it's a very fun game for what it's offering. There isn't that much content and I was able to get through everything relatively quickly (bit of a learning curve) but it was still fun. The only issue is that there aren't very many animals and the variety fizzles out quick. The game is no longer in active development so there's no hope of anything new being added. Regardless, it's still fun and is relatively cheap on sale usually going under five dollars. If you're looking for a game where you get to create an ecosystem this is really the best you can get on Steam.

Super jeu, les graphiques sont très rigolos, le jeu ne pèse rien mais est fourni en contenu et tourne super bien. J'adore les mécaniques d'évolution et de sélection naturelle. C'est suffisamment difficile pour ne pas devenir ennuyant et les espèces interargissent énormément entres-elles nous guidant à créer des dégradés de biomes intéressants. C'est addictif !
I love equilinox because you can be creative and make a purple forest or a red grassland so and so, i think games where you can make stuff like this are super fun, and the tasks are too!
It's a fun little game to pick up, with the little polygonal graphics and the ability to selectively breed creatures and plants for certain traits to unlock more of them. While you can still customize how the world will turn out when you create the world (determine whether it'll have more water, more hills, etc...), it is still a little disappointing that you can't change the terrain after the fact, but maybe that isn't really the point per se. Overall, pretty cool!
Super chill and relaxing. You can unlock everything in like 12 hours if you fast forward a lot. Then hop over to simulation mode and go crazy. I'm going to make everything neon colors and super bouncy goats.
Also look at the specs, a potato could run this. Just be careful the guinea pigs don't eat it.
This game is lovely but it has some gamebreaking bugs with a memory leak on sound effects that will never be fixed because the dev abandoned this project.
I LOVE this game! The janky polygonal animals, all of which have zero leg joints, are SO CUTE -- I adore the way they toddle around on unbending limbs. I like the progression of unlocking new flora/fauna by genetic modification of currently unlocked species. I like the different biomes.
I did scream when my eagle took one of my squirrels instead of one of the many desert hares I'd specially bred for it to hunt, so points off for that.

Great game about living ecosystems! In addition to charming graphics, there's both some humor and magic with how some organisms can be modified! I can run this game in the background while I study or I can micromanage everything. It's great for being accessible at both levels of engagement.

Awful game, awful UI, awful simulation, awful graphics. You have to click and hold on a minuscule button to advance time a bit faster and still is too slow. Even setting the game to fullscreen felt like a chore.

I wanted to like this game, and pick it up again after not playing it for a long while, but the UI is very small and makes it difficult to read any of the information. If you have a higher resolution screen or have any difficulty reading/seeing small text (or just don't want to strain your eyes) I can't recommend it.

Nice and gentle little time passer. You don't need to pay too much attention, just watch your grass, and trees and shrubs grow. Put down some sheep and chickens, then a few fish, and slowly build your little biome!

This game RULES. For anyone remotely interested in nature, plants, animals, ecology, etc... this game is for you. It is so fun and rewarding to unlock new species and watch the life expand to cover the barren map. I have over 150 hours in this game and I still find myself coming back to replay it every few months.
There's just not enough gameplay or visual to make this game worth it once you've completed the basic progression. Every time I open it, I feel frustrated and disappointed that it's so unsatisfying to play around with it.
Cozy, with some modes that stretch your brain if you desire. Make the sheep big and the wolves small.

6 years played it 3 times honestly great game a slow casual world building game 7/10.
Liked: fun game; simple to learn; even though game isn't background idle when not playing can still let game run and watch progression of game; enjoying the "rare" unusual colors that can genetically be created in both plants and animals.
Con: even making the size of the game the largest it can go manually - it is still very small and at times can be hard to read any font on the screen
A lovely little game where you make a cute world inhabitated by polygon animals. It's not difficult, there is no fail state. Mostly, it just takes time and patience to advance the game. It's a great, chill time waster but don't expect much more from it.

While a very cozy game with cute animals and soft colours, it's incomplete. Missing assets mean you'll not be able to get every animal and plant in the game. I recommend looking at other similar games.
Equilinox is the perfect game for your nature loving people! Especially if you like to see an ecosystem thrive! I do have one thing to say though, because the game is so good in some areas, sometimes it has a problem to even out a population and that can cause chaos to your world quickly! the way how i manage it ( this is just some advice of how regulate a population ) is by mutating a species so it's more like evolution and survival of the fittest! you can do this as many times as you want or do it an alternative way and find a way that fits you! such a good game, highly recommended from me and my friends! hope this helps you to make a decision to buy the game!

very relaxing
this is my ultimate zen game. can be either played very laid back or super micromanaged to get better colors and healthier animals. HOWEVER, this game has a memory leak issue that becomes super apparent when the whole map is populated. i could micromanage until the sun sets and rises again, but the game slows to a stuttering mess and needs constant restarts. it would be great if thinmatrix returned to address this, or especially, makes a new equilinox

This a great game but it is buggy and the developers have moved on, so there is no hope of fixes. While it isn't expensive it is disappointing. Once the world becomes populated it begins to lag until it eventually freezes and/or crashes. I love the game idea and the cute art style, but it gets frustrating to try to play after awhile.
It's a fun game, but once it gets populated it really stutters and glitches, needs some serious optimization.
Zen natural evolution game, takes less than 10 hours to complete. It is a chill, cheap time sync and relaxation. I do however feel like the various flora doesn't spread pretty far and it ends up leaving a very splotchy landscape that would be better helped by having a little bit more aggressive spreading on all plants.
Super relaxing yet addicting game. Highly recommend for a range of people. The music is beautiful and the gameplay doesn't make you feel rushed or under pressure.
I really enjoy the game, but after populating the world, it started experiencing glitches. My PC is fairly powerful, and during gameplay, the system load typically stays below 30%. However, the game itself begins to freeze periodically, which significantly impacts the gameplay experience.
I hope this issue can be resolved. I’d also like to mention that when I load into my populated world, the game runs smoothly for about 3 minutes. After that, distracting micro-freezes start occurring every 3 seconds, becoming more frequent as time goes on and eventually causing the game to crash. While I’m not an expert, I wonder if the problem could be related to memory or some other aspect getting overloaded. Of course, the issue might be specific to my setup, but I doubt it, as I’ve never had any complaints or performance issues in other programs or games.

Second discontent I’ve noticed is that the flora and fauna don’t migrate or spread across the map on their own. They remain within a small radius of their initial placement by the player, which reduces the dynamic nature of the gameplay and makes it less engaging than it could be.
As I said before, I truly enjoy the core concept of the game, so I hope the developers not only address the issue I’ve encountered but also take the time to refine certain aspects, such as the user interface. For instance, the comfortable placement of icons, accessibility of settings, adding viewing filters and other small details could really use some polishing to enhance the overall experience. Anyway Despite my suggestions, this game is quite well-thought-out and user-friendly compared to other similar games, where it clearly stands out in terms of convenience.
My verdict: The game is niche and interesting, but it’s still does not have a final form and not very well optimized. Unfortunately, due to freezing issues, I regretfully have to give this game a negative rating until the situation is addressed and fixed.

This game seems like I would LOVE it but it crashes constantly with no error or anything, just closes. The save files all say ERROR so I am wondering if its an issue with the autosave.
I've looked for fixes and mods but it seems like the game is just not well made when it comes to function since many others are having the same issue. Really sad because this seems really fun.
