Too short, arena mode is just a rouge like version of the game, too repetitive and pretty boring in general, its charming sure but I cannot recommend this, buy on sale if you want

En Garde! is a challenging action game that starts easy and becomes more complex and chaotic in a positive sense. The main character (Adalia de Volador) and the other characters are charismatic in a way that makes the story even more entertaining. Also, the scenery is beautiful and character movement is fluid. The only issue comes when there are multiple enemies and you don't have patience to deal with them like you're supposed to (and it's not the game's fault!).
I saw some reviews complaining about the gameplay being bad somehow, and I completely disagree. The fun of the game comes from the increasing number of enemies that attack you with different patterns; it doesn't get repetitive/tedious (talking about main story, it's short); and the environment is highly interactive and some objects can be used multiple times.
Неплохая игра на пару вечеров, если брать на скидках. При желании можно перепройти уровни, если вам интересен сбор секретов. А если зайдет боевка (она вполне адекватная) - есть режим арены.
Печалит отсутствие русского языка, но есть русификатор. Но особого смысла ставить его нет, так как тут ну очень средний сюжет: главная героиня спасает свой город от злодея.
Но больше меня расстроило, что на обложке игры героиня выглядит очень мило и очаровательно, тогда как в самой игре... ну так себе. И тут странно оправдывать это стилизацией: брат героини и пиратка (с которой очень неловкая любовная линия, которую явно не дотянули) выглядят хорошо.

C'est un bon jeu, on se prend au goût du gameplay avec une ambiance sympa.
Le prix est en fonction de la durée de vie, j'aurais vu quand même encore 2h de jeu ça aurait été bien pour l'expérience.

The game is colourful, funny and very lighthearted. I love the quips during and after combat, makes it feel so jovial. Gameplay itself is fun as well and the world is a delight to explore with some fun easter eggs to find.
It's good whimsical fun. It's simple, yet has enough depth to be engaging, and if you master it, which I have assuredly not, Playing it would probably look like a work of beauty.
A charming game. The fighting, the fun characters and funny dialogue are all excellent. The platforming elements do nothing for me, but they never do anything for me in any game.
A bunch of charm and style; high marks for the art direction and audio. Fun combat and pretty replayable as well. There's a bit of a skill curve that I didn't fully lean into but there's a lot of player expression available to you. Even to the extent that I did it feels great comboing moves together in the flow of combat. Performance left a little to be desired on Deck but with some simple settings tweaks from the community was able to get it running pretty much fine throughout.
O jogo é simplesmente FENOMENAL. A história é simples e ela brilha nessa simplicidade super inocente; a gameplay é também simples, mas desafiadora, o que agrega bastante no tempo de jogo, mesmo ele sendo bastante curto, com somente 4 missões. Nas mãos de um jogador experiente em jogos difíceis, o jogo pode parecer muito curto, mesmo no modo difícil, mas para um casual, serão horas de desafio num jogo charmoso, único e com um preço bem em conta. A trilha sonora é marcante, os personagens são carismáticos e a arte é LINDA. A estética espanhola é reforçada sempre que possível com o flamenco agradável presente em cada combate; os cenários suaves, pintados em aquarela à distância, só reforçam o carinho e paixão por esse projeto carregado de personalidade. De certa forma, ele me lembra de um tempo mais simples, principalmente da época dos jogos de PS2 e XBOX 360. Ele aposta nesse sentimento gostoso de um jogo q vc achou sem querer no camelô da rua e descobriu que seria um daqueles que ia marcar sua infância, o que trás uma pegada nostálgica verdadeira, sem ser forçada. No final das contas, ao jogar En Garde!, me senti como criança de novo, e por isso, só posso deixar o meu 10/10
剧情设定还挺有意思的，想起了小时候看佐罗动画片的时候，但是隐藏路径找得太火大了
手感中规中矩，玩到后面会有些枯燥但好在全流程不长，主角和她恋人还挺甜，算意外之喜

A fun little game. I really enjoyed it, even though some parts were annoying. Like, fighting a boss on a bridge and kicking her off it... only for her to teleport back on again. Or how the enemies seem to be able to teleport to hit you when you're trying to reposition yourself. Or how you lose your panache bar whenever you finish a fight... which generally meant that I never used the special moves, since I'd forget they existed in the middle of a fight but was ready to use them for the next fight... where I couldn't use them. But, the atmosphere was excellent and I loved the world it created, and the actual feeling of swashbuckling duelling fun! It would've been nice to have some character customisation in terms of special moves and outfits.
It's like my ex describes me: cute, fun, and quick to finish. The combat is genuinly so fun with environmental interations and the wrting is also quite witty.

Extrem gute Kampfmechaniken, schicke Grafik, witziger Dialog und die Protagonistin ist queer. Meine einzige Beschwerde ist, dass das Spiel echt kurz ist, aber wenn es im Angebot ist, kann ich es nur empfehlen.

O Jogo é legal mas falta alguns elementos para ficar completo. Não tem nada para coletar durante o jogo (baú etc..) e a temática pede algo assim. O jogo é no estilo hack'n slash e mesmo no nível fácil existe uma dificuldade meio desproporcional nos combates. O Combate é bom, mas poderia ser mais fluido. E o ponto negativo total é que o cenário não interage com golpes de espadas. Só com chutes (algumas peças) e com opção de catar objetos para jogar no inimigos. De modo geral é um bom jogo que se focasse em resolver esses problemas seria algo muito além do que é.

Esta bastante bien pero los oponentes con la barra amarilla estan chetadisimos. No sé si es porque tengo la dificultad en difícil pero estan rotisimos; si fallas el parry, te dan un toque, o no te mantienes agresivo se recargan la vida entera. Así que ojito con esos hijos de perra.

A short and hilarious sword combat-based adventure with goofy humor and very funny voice acting. The game revolves around dodging, parrying but most importantly doing enviromental destruction upon your enenies, with tons of different options that surely will cause nasty situations.
While the plot can't be taken serious in any way, the voice acting was very cool since that is exactly how most spaniards sound like when we try to speak in Enlgish.
Aside from the story compressed in 4 episodes the game unlocks an Arena Mode once you beat the first one, which is a wave-based challenge with some roguelite elements on it.
The game is far from perfect and in some situations bugs or unintended interactions happened, such as difficulties for Adalia to hit enemies laying on the floor, or enemies stuck in invisible walls, which jeoperdized some of the achievements, but other than that I recommend this game as it was short but incredibly fun

Que jogo divertido! O combate é interessante, os momentos de Parkour são simples e funcionais e a história serve como uma plataforma para tudo acontecer bem. Os melhores momentos durante minha jogatina foram aqueles em que eu percebi o quão livre eu estava para tomar novos caminhos e seguir de maneira diferente nas missões. O combate tambem traz esse aspecto de liberdade de como resolver os problemas na sua frente. No entanto tenho que falar alguns problemas tambem, como os controles para PC. Realmente o jogo não foi muito pensado para o teclado e eu senti isso constantemente enquanto jogava, principalmente durante as batalhas. Mas acho que o que mais me decepcionou foi a conclusão da história que eu achei verdadeiramente rushada. Gostaria de uma conclusão mais gritante e definitiva, talvez mais uma cena do Duke sendo preso, ou ridicularizado pelo povo, ou talvez um beijo entre a protagonista e sua Crush. Como esta parece que eu só completei uma parte da história e não ela por inteiro.

On paper I should love En Garde but really I find myself quite bored of the simplistic combat. There are attempts to spice things up with enemies that throw bombs or carry shields, but ultimately the only thing En Garde asks you to do is parry blue attacks and dodge red ones, nothing else. There are no deep combos, or really any combos at all outside of combining obstacles and walls with your kicks. On the hardest difficulty the most the game will ever throw at you is two opponents attacking you at once, and rarely will this be presented without a plethora of items to kick away, often diminishing any sort of pressure. All and all, En Garde is the sort of game I'd recommend to somebody with zero experience with Spectacle Fighters, as a way to dip their toes into the genre. Its great for that and 12 year old me would have probably loved it. If you're coming into this looking for something better than the Arkham series, Sifu, God Hand, Urban Reign, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden...En Garde doesn't even come close to the peaks of those.

I bought this because it was on sale and Iron Pineapple recommended it. It's fine, it's different which gives it a lot of charm. Almost everything in the game can be a weapon. What frustrates me is how the camera controls function you're often fighting against them. Lastly when you die you get a fun little scene at the end but it causes deaths to become irritating eventually. Less fun than Asterigos curse of the stars, and Elden ring but for $20 it's the right price.
As a game, this one is very enjoyable: it has beautiful graphics and smooth gameplay, although there are some rough edges to the movement. It's like a Sifu Lite, if we dare to compare, but it has its own unique flavor. You can absolutely give it a try, but the most important thing is below.
This is the most disgusting anti-government propaganda I have witnessed in the video games. I am writing this right now, so blatant that it is obvious. The game positions itself as a comedy, but at the same time, with a wink, it constantly tries to tell you something else. We can assume that, in their career, a writer gives a read to a book, one or two, or many more, so follow a main hero in civil society proclaimed the next passages as "law and justice are not the same things" (big yuck, it really is the same), something like "this is what you get for following the law" (yuck, daring today aren't we), and a few more in a similar manner. So, please trust me when I say that this was intentional. With every statement, as the story escalates, my mind starts to hurt. and by the end of the game, the writers completely lost their minds and painted every corner with grotesque evil, making you believe that you are a good guy. Please, never do that again.

En Garde! is a very entertaining and light-hearted adventure for a couple hours of fun. This game is drenched with charm and personality, and each character is fun to interact with. I loved every bit of dialogue, and the quips of defeated enemies as they're lying there is absolutely my favorite part. The story is fun, the animations are smooth, and the art direction is stylized. The depth-of-field effect gives distant buildings a painterly look which is amazing.
The gameplay is pretty good, I like how the focus is on using the environment to your advantage. I often found myself having to in circles kiting enemies toward an explosive barrel/AOE object, or reenacting Dark Messiah kicking boxes at everyone. It didn't feel as smooth to combo between interactable objects as I would have hoped, but maybe I just wasn't very good at it. The enemies/bosses with the yellow health bar [spoiler] were a little annoying, especially the final encounter with the Count Duke, since he could change up the combo and refresh his health when I dodged instead of parry, but it wasn't horrible. [/spoiler]
If you're looking for a short-term action game that obviously has tons of passion poured in, this is a fantastic choice. It's also got a bunch of secrets, challenges, and lore tidbits in every level so you could probably search for those for a few extra hours.
A nice short game that you can do in an afternoon. The dialog is witty and the characters are likeable. The combat has great flow and the arena mode gives the game some legs after you complete the main story.
I got this on sale for $4.99 and it's fun, funny, and at that price-- a steal.
It's an arcade-action swashbuckling adventure as advertised. I got a few laughs right out the gate.

The game doesn't have much variety due to the short length, but if it was longer and had more distinct content to accompany it, this would almost be comparable to Jedi survivor, which is the best thing Disney Star Wars released BY FAR.
The price tag isn't between the best on this site but if a tripe A company was to release a game like this they'd recycle 80% of assets, male the game as unoptimised as possible AND give it a 70$ price tag, so compared to the slop famous modern companies have been releasing it ain't allat bad

I really like how this game allows for good player expression and creativity. The main game itself seems short but it has tons of replay value when it comes to finding different secrets as well as learning more about the combat and what makes enemies tick. the arena is also a good playground for this.
The game give you the tools and allows you to experiment to your heats content. the tips and tricks menu is actually useful too since it delves in on other mechanics the tutorial doesn't tell you, they are also things you can discover on your own. (although you can manually target with the right stick and it doesn't tell you that in the main tutorial which i think is sort of important lol.)
Good classic style game that doesn't hold your hand and rewards creativity. 8/10

En Garde! is a charming bite sized action adventure that provided more challenge than I was anticipating. The game is beautiful, vibrant and colorful, which pairs perfectly with its goofy saturday morning cartoon tone. Hammy performances, great music, and a brief run time really ensure everything works well together without getting old/tired. Playing on the hardest difficulty the game really pushed me, and forced me to engage with all of its mechanics, dodging, parrying, environmental traps and damage, all culminating in this evasive and improvised style of play that really channels the swashbuckling spirit. Although it's a wonderful time when it clicks (impacts are satisfying, and the corresponding sounds and slow-mo's always feel great), I feel the controls could use some tightening up. There were a few moments where I had to restart a section on death not because of my ineptitude, but because my inputs simply did not go through, and for as punishing as this game can be (again on the highest difficulty setting), slick or inconsistent controls is a big no-no. But that issue was infrequent enough as to not really color my opinion of the whole experience. If great combat encounters, decent enough platforming, and an unflinchingly joyous atmosphere sounds like it'd be for you, then I'd highly recommend this one, even at full price.
