Verdikt: Viete čo jednoznačne mutanti nemali robiť? Rušiť blonďáka menom Duke pri prejave k ľudu New Yorku, keď sa pritom s ním maznajú príslušníčky nežnejšieho pohlavia! To veru nemali robiť! Manhattan Projekt je nostalgickou spomienkou na časy, keď hernému svetu vládli akčné plošinovky. Duke tentokrát nastupuje na scénu s hustým arzenálom zbraní a ešte hustejšími hláškami, ktoré sa však rýchlo opočúvajú. To nie je jediný nedostatok ináč skvelej a zábavnej hry. Príbeh je klasicky B-čkový, no zasadený do zaujímavého a graficky príťažlivého prostredia. Negatívom je aj herná doba kampane. Tá sa pohybuje okolo 5 hodín. Herný zážitok k tomu dokáže pokaziť miestami stupídna kamera. Duke si napriek nedostatkom drží svoju fazónu, nemožno ho zabiť, maximálne naštrbiť jeho ego.

If you enjoy the style of 2D playforms, this game is made for you. In fact, it's one of the first "2.5"D games released on PC, before this trend hit with Trine, a throwback to the original Duke Nukem games Manhattan Project is stupidly fun. While the graphics aren't amazing, Every visual facet about the game is brimming with life, textures are crisp and colorful, shadows reflect accurately, weapons look very cool, and of course Duke himself has never looked better. Also, unlike most other games in the 2.5 genre, it actually *uses* the third dimension. Many levels have 2-3 levels of foreground /background and such, which adds a refreshing change to the run and gun gameplay. In conclusion, It's nice to see Duke again and again, he is a legend from the sweet era of PC gaming.

That's the best Duke Nukem game and one of the best plataformers of all time! I remember having lots of fun with it back in the day and playing it now, 13 years later, haven't changed a bit. Everything about this game is right, the mechanics, the level design, the graphics, the sound, the music, the voices, the <insert anything here>.

Definitely worth your money. Buy it and get ready for lots of babes and ass-kicking!

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is sort of spin-off game for Duke Nukem, that came out in 2002, made by Sunstorm and shocked every Duke Nukem 3D hipster by being a platformer. Little did they know that Duke Nukem was a platformer before 3D. Then again, it's surprising that it came for PC instead of some console at that period of time. Oh, and came to Xbox Live and iOS too.

Also, note that Steam release actually got some love, and as result it allows widescreen and better controller support. All yay for such rereleases!

The plot of this platformer is that Aliens once again invaded. What aliens? Well, it's actually robots and mutants. And you have to blame Mech Morphix, who is like Proton from Duke Nukem 1 but with beard, with his GLOPP, which mutates animals and insects into huge anthro forms. With guns. And so Duke double jumps up and moves to find keycards, rescue bomb-strapped babes and go sight-seeing the most boring stereotypical levels. At least he didn't lose his one-liners.

The game actually has 8 levels with 3 parts in each, with boss battle at the end of the third part. And each part has 10 nukes, collecting which will give you tiny health and ammo bonus. Each part also requires you to find one key and one babe before exiting, being mazey.

And it sure shows that it was platformer that came in 2002. It was very weak time for side-scrolling action. By this time gaming scene was so self-wrapped in 3D concept, that developers forgot how to make a good 2D platformer. And that was before the famous indie-explosion too. Good things in 2D genres were happening only on Gameboy Advance thanks to Japanese developers, so it's hard to blame PC developers of that time for delivering such mediocre product.

I mean, if you take a look at game mechanics, it feels a lot more in common with FPS than with classics. Instead of shooting projectiles and avoiding them, the hits here are instant. It worked in more tactical slower-paced positional side-scrollers like Flashback, but here Duke Nukem is positioned as a straight action game. The first episode feels pretty promising, where there is enough verticallity and positioning variety to make you think before jumping into action, or just to throw a pipebomb at a certain angle, reminding a bit of arcade Shinobi or Terminator for Sega CD. But soon in second level you will meet uzi gators who will shoot you as soon as they appear on a screen, making damage mostly unavoidable unless you shoot blindly while running. And soon you are confined into tiny underground corridors where you don't even have space to jump.

Actually, instead of straight health, the game uses "ego". Actually, it's like hitpoints, but you gain some points for killing enemies or doing some small stuff, and it has no limit, aside from decaying slowly when it's over 100. If you can get it to 250 then you recieve free Double Damage powerup. It's interesting. You also get double the amount of ego if you kill enemies with a kick, which doesn't suck here. Especially jump kick, which you will abuse.

But it also futher drives the point of a game where it feels like an endurance test, where you do some damage and try to gain enough health by jump kicking enemies so you stay above zero while taking some cheap damage. It's a lot like all those early 2000s shooters, when everything was hitscan, but they still had hitpoint-driven health, so you would just try to outdamage and try to lose as little health as possible. I don't know, you can say all you want about "realism" in FPS, but this sillyness doesn't belong to action-platformers. At least not in as dull as this one.
Though it kinda gets better in second half of a game, where you often have enough space to jumpkick everything. It also is interesting in how it carries over the FPS tradition of having many weapons to hold, but most of them are upgrades over each other or barely of any use.

It also means that action never gets as hot as in Contra games. Especially bosses. Actually, they are far far worse. There are only 3 bosses out of 8 that are proper. Others are just buffed up enemies, who, guess what, is easier to just tank up. It's really harder to play smart and try to avoid damage, when you can just be dumb and outdamage them. At least this is how it was on Normal.
Then out of those three bosses only the first level one was more or less awesome. Or at least the only one with a good music. At least Demo version of a game gave be false better impression of a game since I imagined that bosses would be as good as this one. If forget that it still has tedius part.

Levels are actually maze-like. You have to find keycard and babe in each level and sure thing developers turned them into mazes. Well, actually it's not so bad, since you usually play some linear section, then find exit lock, and then get a small maze where key and babe are placed. What is fancy is that developers tried to do this 2.5D thing where Duke at some points can switch the planes. It's used to make levels maze-like, yes. Nope, couldn't be just 2D, because everything had to be 3D and polygonal back then.

But hey, maybe level design and music can carry it?
Nope.
Level design is so boring and unoriginal that it's amazing. It's like developers took setting of each level from most mediocre games on old consoles. Explore your gray mazey factories and underground level and underground level and grey space station. Music, the last saving grace of mediocre side-scrollers, is bad. It's like a short loop of some industrial unmemoriable track.

Erf, to be honest, this game is not technically bad. It doesn't anything wrong. Well, aside from high standart game design WRONG. It's just that this game is so average in mediocre way, it's like absolute zero. I kinda was amused by it at time, kinda had bit of funs here, but I felt extremely empty after beating it. You can take any platformer from 16-bit or 8-bit era and it probably would be more interesting than this one.

Steam needs "Meh" recommendation badly. I still think of it as a bit more of positive. But then being boring is the worst sin of videogames for some.

And no, Duke personality and main theme can get you only so far.

Un tuffo nel passato, non solo per gli oltre 13 anni oramai dall’uscita ma per la scelta di un format lontano dal genere fps. Quel Duke Nukem 3D che aveva elevato, definitivamente, la figura del Duca a icona.
La veste grafica punta a modelli 3D, mentre il gameplay è tipicamente 2D.
Si ritorna dunque al Platform vecchio stile, con movimenti prettamente laterali, e a volte verticali. E’ stata aggiunta anche una “finta” profondità data dal cambio d’inquadratura: ci si potrà spostare (dove previsto, in alcune sezioni) su 3 linee per evitare ostacoli e nemici un po' come nei beat ‘em up alla Double Dragon.

[b]Storia:[/b] dobbiamo contrastare il piano di un folle scienziato pazzo, Mech Morphix, che ha elaborato un composto radioattivo chiamata G.L.O.P.P. (Gluon Liquid Omega-Phased Plasma) che altera il DNA delle creature terrestri trasformandole in mutanti. L’obiettivo? Il solito: conquistare il Mondo, partendo ovviamente dalla Grande Mela.

[b]Gameplay:[/b] 8 capitoli, ognuno suddiviso in 3 “paragrafi”. Alla fine di ognuno degli 8 livelli affronterete una sezione Boss Fight. Fondamentalmente si tratta di combattere mutanti vari e recuperare delle schede magnetiche per poter avanzare allo stage successivo.
Non potevano però mancare le “pupe” da salvare, disinnescando le bombe ad esse collegate.
Le azioni da mettere in pratica sono standard: salto, doppio salto, corsa, arrampicarsi, svolazzare col jetpack e… Ovviamente sparare ad ogni cosa osi muoversi.

L’arsenale vanta: il Mighty Boot (attacco melée, nella fattispecie un calcio), la pistola Golden Eagle, il mitragliatore, il fucile, il raggio anti-glopp (che riporta i mutanti al loro stato originario), il lanciarazzi (ovviamente), il pipe bomb, il cannone a impulsi, e la più roboante e terrificante arma X-3000 (da sbloccare recuperando tutte le Nuke).

[b]Comparto grafico:[/b] la paletta cromatica non presenta molta varietà cromatica, prediligendo più che altro tonalità scure. Le locations sono abbastanza varie: si parte da alcuni luoghi di New York City come Chinatown, la metropolitana, le fogne, i tetti dei grattacieli; per passare poi da una fabbrica all’avanguardia, e finire su una stazione spaziale.

[b]Comparto tecnico:[/b] non è facile giudicare questo aspetto a distanza di anni, ma posso segnalare una buona l’illuminazione dinamica (per l’epoca), e una gestione della profondità tutto sommato ben architettata. Non manca qualche glitch grafico. Forse si poteva curare meglio il sistema dei controlli: una reattività e una precisione maggiore erano preferibili; ma anche così si potrà portare a termine il gioco, senza patemi.

[b]Comparto audio:[/b] buona l’effettistica, mediocri i temi musicali. Le frasi dal sapore B-Movie del Duca sono come sempre sopra le righe, ma stavolta sono poco varie nel campionario.

[b]Commento finale:[/b] ci troviamo davanti al solito grezzo, sboccato e politicamente scorretto Duca. Una figura nerboruta, dall’ego smisurato… Un’icona uscita da un film d’azione anni ’80-’90.
Il gioco uscì quando tutti si aspettavano invece il tanto decantato Duke Nukem Forever che ahimè non fu poi un gran successo. Questo Manhattan Project è un prodotto strano: l’incedere è un po' ripetitivo eppure sa anche divertire, ma non è assolutamente un capolavoro. Non so se i più giovani riusciranno ad apprezzarlo visto il concept superato, io che ho cominciato a giocare con l’Amiga quando già esistevano le console a dvd mi ci sono divertito. Magari se siete curiosi dategli una possibilità -oramai il costo è davvero basso- semmai l'odierete, poi mi insulterete… Spero di no :)

Boring, repetitive. Janky controls. Kicking enemies didn't work half the time. Double jump didn't work half the time. All the levels are on rooftops and look the same. Fight the same 2-3 enemies with the same 2-3 guns. Worst part is after having played it for 30 min, and the game said my progress was saved, on the main menu my game wasn't in the load screen. When trying to do new game it gave the option to type in a name of the save game for the new game I was starting, of which it didn't do the first time. No thanks game, not going to waste me time replaying because you can't save a game properly.

Отличный псеводо 3D платформер при старину Дюка Нюкема.
Игра состоит из 8-ми глав, каждая глава из 3-х уровней. Наша задача найти выход из каждого уровня, попутно убивая все живое, что нас пытается сожрать, спасти девушку на каждом уровне и найти ключ к выходу, а в конце каждой главы замочить босса. Короче, все в олдскульном духе.
Всем любителям олдскульных стрелялок с видом сбоку рекомендую!

Duke Nukemシリーズのスピンオフ作品。
3Dで表現されているが基本的に横スクロールアクションである。
感覚的にはメタルスラッグシリーズが個人的に近いと感じた。
とりあえず脳筋プレイでもいけるので、深く考えたくない人におすすめ。
ストーリーも一応あるにはあるが読まなくても何の問題もないので、深く（ｒｙ）。
各ステージにはカードキー1枚と捕らわれたセクシーな女(ローポリゴンなのであまりだが)がいて、女を助けキーを入手しないとゴールできない仕組みになっている。

良い点
・テンポ良い戦闘
・主人公のキャラクター性
・ステージリザルト画面等の熱いBGM

悪い点
・殺されるとセーブポイントの関係でやたら前に戻される場面がしばしばある
・セーブポイントの直前で理不尽なトラップがあり、やたら前に戻される場面がある
・セーブポイントに戻る際にライフはセーブ時のままなので、低ライフでボス戦などに突入すると詰む
・ダブルジャンプが必須の場面があるのだが、環境によって一切できない(レンダリングエンジン等を変更すると可能になるが気付くわけねーだろ！)
・見つけさせるつもりがなさそうなシークレットがいくつかあるのでパーフェクトプレイを目指す人にはかなり厳しい
・各種グレネードを投げてくる敵がいるのだが、どうあがいても避けられないことがある

・・・悪い点ばかり多く書いてしまったが、それらの点だけ除けば基本的には熱く楽しいゲームなので安心してほしい。

Toujours un plaisir de retrouver Duke Nukem à la sauce d'antan (Duke Nukem I et II), mais en 3D et avec la voix de John St John.
Le jeu n'a pas pris une ride. Toujours joussif et marchant parfaitement sur Windows 7, 8 et 8.1.
Le seul regret sera de ne pas avoir de mode multijoueur et une fin de jeu qui s'essoufle un peu.

Never played it on the console and did not even know of its existence, the game is fun, egraficos music and controls are satisfactory, but it is a motor more than utrapassado.

If u like me, you are a big fan of Duke Nukem will want to play and (q is not out of curiosity). But do not expect a big game was and is the Duke Nukem 3D.

um ótimo jogo de PS2, essa é melhor definição sobre esse game.

Nunca joguei ele no consolo e nem sabia da sua existencia, o jogo é divertido, musica egraficos e controles são satisfatorios, mas é um motor mais que utrapassado.

Se vc, como eu, é um grande fã de Duke Nukem vai querer ter e jogar (nem q seja por curiosidade). Mas não espere um grande game foi e é o Duke Nukem 3d.

И как в своё время я мог пропустить такую красоту?

Игра просто шикарная! Разумеется, для любителей ретро. Кстати, первоначально, изучая скриншоты, думал, что Duke Nukem Manhattan Project – это шутер от третьего лица с полноценным 3D. Однако, эта часть приключений Дюка скорее похожа на самые первые игры серии. Это платформер. Только это не минус проекта, а плюс. Нет, я не любитель самых первых игр Duke Nukem. Я в них не играл и особого желания играть нет. Но Manhattan Project зацепил меня. Похож ли он на старого доброго Дюка, в которого я играю до сих пор? Разве что героем и врагами. Ну и прочими атрибутами. В остальном – это качественный платформер с пострелушками. Разумеется, сохранились и все иные фишки серии, её добротный чуть грубоватый юмор. Отдельно стоит отметить музыку. Она чертовски хороша!
Рекомендовать могу игру любителям игр старой школы.

Es un juegazo como la copa de un pino y pese al paso del tiempo sigue siendo tan entretenido como siempre. Tiene algunos chistes típicos del universo de duke nukem así como cierta explorabilidad de los escenarios (hay que recoger varios objetos y tambíen hay potenciadores ocultos) además los diferentes modos de dificultad están bien ajustados

One of if not THE BEST Duke Nukem game I ever played. Side scroller, with fun bosses and secrets.

The only flaw I see is sometimes, SOMETIMES the double jump doesn't work. Other than that, smooth like butter.

It feels like all Duke Nukem games fused in one perfect game.

So buy this game, and save some babes and kill some mutant scum. L.A.R.D. can't win. If you fail to buy this game, you help the swine.

This was originally meant to be Duke Nukem Forever, back in 2002.
It was changed because of some development ideals, such as at first it was going to be a platform shooter like this, but it was changed to an FPS later.

Oh right, about the actual game. This game combines the platforming and shooting of the first two duke games with the bad@$$ duke personality of duke 3D. The whole game feels great, and just clicks together as a fun, platform shooter.

This game should have been DNF, not the crap gearbox put out. The music, guns, enemies, combat, Duke, everything feels great. I got hooked right after the first boss fight, which was good fun and full of duke badassery.

Although I'd suggest re-mapping the controls, like moving the shooting, sliding, and jump keys to the wad keys, it makes it much easier.

8/10 would jump onto villain's helicopter and through pipe-bomb into cockpit again.

This game is a good game i rember having this on a computer years ago
the controlls work well with keybord and a controller if your into that
unlike other games it have some replayability you can finish the game on medium and then go on hard and get the extras and hidden itmes :) or go hard and go for it all in one run.
the levels are well thought out and challenging
You have to explore to find the key to exit the level and find the babes thos hot hot not very realistic babes hahahaha and the secrets of course coz i mean who wants the babes :P

another positive is it will run on most machines
and its fun to play if your on a laptop on a train etc it also works well on my mac wich is why i originaly got it for, so i could play it when i was at work or so on :)

but any ways a great fun duke game :)

Maybe i am weird person, but my favourite game in Duke Nukem series is not Duke Nukem 3d, or (duh) Forever, but Manhattan Project. For me its almost ideal, hmm, 2,5 d platforming game. Different weapeons, many enemies, original boss fights, lot of secrets,fun control and gameplay. I dont need nothink more to have some fun :-).

The Manhattan Project is a fun game. I was pleasantly surprised. At its heart this game is a 2D side-scroller, but there's a bit of 3D to it. You're always on a path, but there are different routes that run parallel to each and go if in many different ways. The graphics still hold up well for how old this game is. In each level Duke has to free a babe that's been taken prisoner and find a key that shuts off the force field blocking the way to the end of the level. There is a lot of exploration in this game. There are a lot of switches to flip, platforms to jump, and secrets to find in each level. It was fun exploring the levels and figuring out how to advance. There's 24 levels in all and it took me around 7 hours to finish. I did get stuck a few times, but mostly it's easy to figure out the puzzles with some effort. The bosses are really mostly a push over. The hardest time I had was with the first boss. Duke himself was entertaining enough. He has a few good lines that don't get too tired by the end of the game. Duke Nukem: The Manhattan Project was a fun time and I definitely recommend it.

玩家可以使用三種不同方式來消滅敵人，開槍射擊、引爆炸彈、公爵的黃金右腳，遊戲總共支援七種不同的槍械，子彈類型的武器如手槍、散彈槍、機關槍都共用同一種子彈，能量類型的武器如將敵人變成動物的雷射槍、聚能雷射炮等則是利用另一種類似核子原料的燃料進行能源補充，玩家不太需要尋找彈藥的補給，因為擊敗任何敵人都會掉落彈藥，筆者從沒有發生過彈盡糧絕的情況。如果不幸用光所有子彈，那麼就不得不使用招牌武器黃金右腳，只要配合衝刺與跳躍的時機點使用踢擊就能使出充滿八零年代風格的飛踢與掃堂腿。

當今的遊戲大廠似乎漸漸不再發開橫向卷軸動作遊戲，從日系大廠卡普空對旗下作品《Rockman》那不理不睬放著吃老本與不斷重製的做法就能發現，這種類型的遊戲不再是當代主流，大家熱愛擁有華麗特效與逼真過場動畫的第一人稱射擊遊戲，如今能在Steam平台上再次玩到這款2002年發行的橫向卷軸動作遊戲，筆者依舊能感受到十年前在便利超商花費九百台幣買到這款遊戲的激動情感，但是看了一下2011年發行的《Duke Nukem Forever》令人失望透頂的表現，果然回憶還是留在心裡回味就好，才不會被無情的破壞。

I remember everyone hating this out of project back when it was released because it was not duke nukem forever. I only played the very first duke nukem as kid and only got to the 3rd level so manhatten project always looked interesting to me.
After finally picking up duke nukem 1 and then 2 which I both greatly nejoyed I started this and this game is a very underapreciated gem of early 00's pc games. Most things still feel the same but better like weapon switching, real secret places in every level, double jumps and added cheesy 1-liners for the 3d duke nukem fans. Only downgrade from the dos games is the way too slow vertical ceiling/pipe grabbing speed and no downshooting from hanging but sometimes you can still go fast by jumping along.
The gamepay develops into a very entertaining mix of exploration orientated, plattforming, shooting and resource management. It is very much like those fabeled "metroidvanias" but seperated in levels for less backtracking.
My random controllers used with adapters were recognized and mapped perfectly from the start. The software is very resource friendly. (seriously how do modern indie devs ♥♥♥♥ up those last 2 points up so much with worse graphics and gameplay)
Overall this is a must play for the fans of duke, plattformers and "metroidvanias".

Tons of old school action/platforming fun. The game may be a little older, and look a little dated (PS2 quality), but there's a ton of action to be had without having to worry about pesky "thinking" involved with managing inventory or upgrades.

Run, jump, pick up ammo, shoot. Duke's one-liners are all here, even if they get a little repetitive they are expected and add to the "cheese" factor. Works perfectly with the 360 Controller for Windows (you can re-assign buttons), although the menu selection is a little finicky with it. Ideal for couch-play, and well worth the purchase.

"Я могу делать это часами!" Старая и добрая игра об Дюке Нюкеме, который снова взялся спасать мир от злых кабанов пришельцев, игра осталась также в жанре шутер от 3-го лица и разделена на главы. В игре нас ждет не мало загадок и битв с непростыми боссами, в системных требованиях указанно что поддерживается Windows XP, но работает и на windows 8.1 в Full HD разрешении и полным русификатором полет нормальный. Игра довольно забавная и полностью оправдывает свою стоимость советую всем, кто любит 3D шутеры особенно тем, кто поклонник серии Дюка Нюкема

Ganhei a key e resolvi testar por curiosidade, pensei que o gameplay seria uma bosta, mas ele é bem responsivo e me fez seguir em frente... a princípio é bem fácil, mas com o tempo a munição vai ficando escassa e os inimigos mais agressivos, além da plataforma com bastante vai e volta, abismos, armadilhas com moste instantânea

As vezes ele é meio bugado e o Duke prende no cenário, tendo que recarregar o último checkpoint, não é frequente, mas meio chato quando acontece... outra falha é a box dos espinhos meio distante do mesmo, então acaba tento morte instantânea ao tentar pular por um mesmo que não encoste

O Duke toda hora fica toda hora soltando palavrões, falando frases de efeito, dizendo coisas do tipo "hoje é um bom dia pra morrer", "odeio porcos", "porra de cartão chave"... e ele é plataforma lateral, mas com possibilidade de mudança de plano constantemente, ou o cenário girar de forma tridimensional, diria que o Arkham Origins Blackgate se inspirou fortemente nesse jogo

Everything about this game is so awesome! This game is hilarious. It makes me wish I would have played it way back when it first came out. I have always been skeptical of it because it is not like Duke Nukem 3d but now I regret that. I don't know how it controls with mouse and keyboard because I have only used my xbox 360 controller and it plays flawlessly with it. If you are a Duke Nukem fan and never tried this stop wasting time and kick some ass! This game rules! Soooo much better than Duke Nukem Forever! 8/10

Отличный платформер в духе старой школы, да и вообще - это просто отличная игра с харизматичным персонажем в главной роли, а именно, с незабываемым Дюком Нюкемом!
Кстати, одна из моих игр купленных на ПК, помню когда своего компа я ещё не имел, то выпросил у родителей деньги на диск с Manhattan Project, и побежал устанавливать её к своему другу на комп. C тех пор это одна из моих любимых игр на пекарне. Рекомендую к покупке всем фанатам Дюка 3д, да и любителям первых частей его приключений. Спасайте тёлочек, пинайте зады свиньям, собирайте пушки, короче 10/10!

Just rebought this game in steam. As a hardcore Duke fan i can really still recommend this one to all you old skool duke nukem 3D players out there. Works really well with a controller or even keyboard if you like to go back in time a bit :)

This franchise "in-betweener" platformer, released long after Duke3D but honoring the old Duke platformer games, turned out to be a surprisingly good game and arguably better then the Forever sequal to the classic FPS that really could only fit the lowest expectations at release date.

What else is there to say, it's Duke Nukem. No surprises there when it comes to the level themes, enemies and ofcourse the great oneliners that never get old. Never heard of Duke Nukem or only from hear say ??!?...give this game a spin just so you can say you at least experienced some of this PC-game hero that stands together with the big ones like wolfenstein 3D and Doom.

I like that this platformer has some really clever secrets that i loved to explore for hours, It somehow made this game one that i played for many nights. Now that i have it in steam again i will probably play this on and off for years to come as my cool down game :)

This game is rather very interesting than the 2 platformer games. It has higher graphics, more weapons to use, some cutscenes, Duke talking (lol), and more kick assing! I kinda wish there are more platformer games like this for Duke Nukem, i know there are some and i would wish they have it so i can buy them as well.

Oh and like Duke Nukem 2, the game shows difficulty and has harder modes.

Duke goes back to his side scrolling roots in Duke Nukem Manhattan Project and looks good doing so. This game does a great job of blending modern 3D models and environments with solid side scrolling gameplay. Duke gets to test out a good variety of cool weapons on some nasty foes in his quest to stop Morphix. Overall, a good title from Sunstorm Interactive and 3D Realms. 8.0

Duke powraca do swoich korzeni w postaci platformówki, ale z trójwymiarowymi teksturami. Gra jest podzielona na planszy w którym musimy uraratować laski (w końcu to DN) i znaleźć klucze (co sam Duke nienawidzi ich zbierać i ujmuję to w swoim stylu). Oczywiście nie może zabraknąć bossów, na których trzeba znaleźć sposób by ich pokonać. Ogólnie rzecz mówiąc gra warta zagrania a teksty Duke'a dopełniają tą produkcję.

Ich denke, die meisten Spieler kennen Duke Nukem bereits. DIeser knallharte professionelle Arschtreter tritt hier zum ersten Mal in 2(3)D auf und wie immer geht es darum, den Schweinen in die Ärsche zu treten.
Ich habe den ältesten Teil und den neuesten gespielt und muss sagen, dieser hier ist der beste der Reihe.
Wir kloppen uns durch 10 große Abschnitte und bekommen dabei 9 nette Waffen in die Hand gedrückt. Aber wer brauch schon Waffen, wenn man die guten alten Rohrbomben benutzen kann?

Die Grafik war für damalige Verhältnisse durchaus ausreichend, die Sounds völlig ok und es ist eben der Duke.
Ein paar gute Sprüche werden fallen gelassen, wobei diese leider etwas oft wiederholt werden.
Dennoch ist Duke Nukem immernoch ein zeitloser Klassiker und verdient es definitiv gespielt zu werden und ist immernoch durchaus die 6 € hier wert.

Excellent old platformer with lots of variation in the levels. Duke's one liners are as hilarious as ever and the game play is fun and uncomplicated. The game has a decent length and the story is a good fit. Even though I did enjoy completing it I don't expect to replay it any time soon.

I'm usually not a fan of platformers, but this one really works for me. I bought it on CD when it first came out (and I still have the keychain subway token that came with it) and I enjoyed it a lot at the time. It turns out it aged well and it's still just as fun today and it compares well with more recent platformers. It has a good set of navigation mechanics that make sense, except for the nonsensical standard platformer staple of changing direction mid-leap. It faithfully recaptures the look, atmosphere, and humor of Duke Nukem 3D despite the completely different format. So it's a solid recommendation for any Duke Nukem 3D fan. People who found the humor in Duke Nukem 3D too crass won't like it, but do we really care about such people?

My personal favorite of the Duke Nukem franchise.

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is a fast-paced 3D sidescroller boasting an impressive arsenal, challenging NPCs, a wonderfully cheesy story, and of course, John St John as Duke Nukem.

The gameplay is certainly a high point for the Duke Nukem games as Manhattan Project is the fastest and most well-paced. It also pushes the limits of what a sidescroller can do in terms of gameplay complexity. Give it a go if you want an excellent PG-13 rated Duke Nukem platformer!

Был приятно удивлён застав Дьюка в платформере. Во время выхода игру не застал и играл уже в 2014. Игра понравилась. Из плюсов можно отметить: отличный Level design, фирменный стиль Дьюка, отзывчивое управление (что крайне важно для платформера), игра заканчивается как раз в тот момент, как начинаешь от неё уставать и на сложном уровне к боссам надо подбирать тактику, с наскока их не расстреляешь. Собрав все бомбы на уровне, повышаются характеристики Дьюка, что добавляет интерес пошустрить по карте. В конце игра оставляет приятное ощущение и дух Duke Nukem не потерян.

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project je příjemný a vcelku vydařený návrat ke kořenům tohoto slavného hrdiny. Od začátku jsem věděl, do čeho jdu a co od toho mohu očekávat, a o to více mě pak hra samotná bavila. Různých FPS je dnes nesčetně, proto jsem uvítal tuto "3D" plošinovku, kde jde především o zábavu a odreagování. Co víc si přát? I dnes se rád k této hře vracím. Jediné, co zamrzí, je fakt, že her v duchu tohoto žánru už dnes moc nevzniká...

К созданию этой игры 3D Realms отношения, увы, не имеют — они лишь выступили продюсерами, тогда как разработку вела студия Sunstorm Interactive. Однако идея создать современную версию старого двумерного платформера преследовала 3D Realms и лично Джорджа Бруссарда сразу после релиза Duke Nukem 3D. Собственно, именно такой проект и подразумевался сначала под вывеской Duke Nukem Forever — позже он был отменен в пользу классического продолжения. Но идейки-то остались! Так и появился Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project.
Действие на этот раз происходит в Нью-Йорке, который хочет захватить очередной сумасшедший ученый — с помощью мутантов, роботов и радиоактивной слизи. Зовут злодея Мех Морфикс, и, что характерно, выглядит он знакомо: киборг с железкой на половину лица. Доктор Протон? Он самый! Сперва главным злодеем Manhattan Project назначался вернувшийся персонаж из оригинального Duke Nukem, и лишь в последний момент он был переименован по хронологическим соображениям (хотя, казалось бы, когда они беспокоили разработчиков серии?).
Вполне приличная для 2002 года графика очень необычна — в ней плоский игровой процесс сочетается с трехмерным движком. Дюк Ньюкем движется в двумерной плоскости, которая «пересекает» трехмерное пространство. Вдобавок камера время от времени меняет ракурс, что еще больше дезориентирует. К счастью, это компенсируется очень простым управлением (вперед, назад, вверх, вниз, выстрел, смена оружия) и скоростным игровым процессом.

Un juego de plataformas 2D con algo de 3D demasiado bueno a pesar de lo viejo que es te deja completamente satisfecho con la compra, la musica quizas algo repetitiva pero es agradable para los oidos, los mundos son variados y estan bien hechos, los enemigos algo repetitivos pero no importa mucho. I originally played this on my Xbox 360. I seen a lot of reviews prefering the original PC version. So I got this to see how accurate they were. To my surprise I came to really enjoy playing this. I hated how they changed the main menu in X360's port. Plus they also removed the original song it had. What I really like is on the level selection screen. Every level is correctly labeled on each part. On X360's port you first select the chapter. Then pick a level within that chapter to play. But here everything is layed out nicely. The controls are so much better in this version. The graphics are more fitting on this than the later port. Which by today's standards wasn't good. This game really came together on PC. If you're trying to get more into Duke Nukem like me. Please give this one a try I'm sure you will enjoy it.

soy amante de los juegos viejos, y creeme el control de este con el joystick (mando) es una maravilla es uno de los mejores juegos con un buen control que no te hace sentirte frustrado, hay muchos juegos por allí que son gráficos actuales, músicas 7.1, etc... pero en cuanto el control fallan, una cosa piensas tu y otra hace el personaje.

In a nod to the original platformer classics, you'll be going after another mad scientist, this time a Mech Morphix, who is on a quest to take over the titular Manhattan island with the aid of his radiactive creations. To this end, you'll be traversing through eight thematically different, multi-layered and highly-interconnected stages ranging from the city sewers to Chinatown alleys that ultimately lead to Morphix's moon base where the mastermind dwells. In every single one of the twenty-four levels therein, you'll need to rescue a babe and find a single key card to continue on, with the added side quest of finding secret areas and collecting ten hidden nukes which will in turn increase your max stats and ammo carrying capacity. You'll have a compact arsenal of seven guns with no duds to confront the old favourites alongside Morphix's fresh creations and look for three useful power-ups that help greatly to conquer the enemy and the levels. At the end of each stage, a boss will be waiting for you.

These simple goals and level-by-level progression through the game fit well to the concept, become second nature to player in short time and provide enough incentive to explore every nook and cranny of the mostly well-designed stages. On the visual side of things, it can be said that the low-key Prism3D engine that would surely look dated today in another genre fits like a glove to MP and still looks sharp after twelve years of release. Considering the poly limits, the models -especially Duke himself- are perfectly designed and gracefully animated. Coupled with smooth and responsive controls, it is always a joy to witness the man himself doing what he does best - namely, kicking alien ass with style.

In fact, the gameplay itself is what shines here the most. After cutting my teeth on the game's mechanics in the first bunch of levels, I was genuniely surprised at how well it all comes together to provide a highly-enjoyable, old-school romp. With just the right amount of platforming and well thought-out action, it was such a fun and light-hearted experience to explore the levels searching for that precious babe and the hidden goodies, taking out the alien 'scum' (as Duke puts it) and spurting out Jon St. John's always great one-liners that I always craved for more throughout my seven-hour ride.

It's a shame that Manhattan Project is largely dismissed as a mediocre spin-off, whereas an open-minded playthrough clearly shows that it's a lovingly-crafted game that both does justice to the heritage of its hero and plays wonderfully on its own terms. Totally worth the asking price, even better in a bundle. Most recommended, my only gripe is the last stage being a tad slow and heavily platforming-oriented (it would have been nice to have more bosses with unique behaviour, too) - but that's just a nitpick. Oh, and be sure to plug in your gamepad for maximum enjoyment before booting it up.

Para mi gusto el mejor juego del personaje. Junta la jugabilidad del primer par de juegos con el humor macarra/noventero del famosísimo Duke Nukem 3D y así sale un juego de run & gun muy clásico con frases de películas y otros medios clásicos de la acción.

Un juego recomendado para los amantes del género plataformero clásico y para seguidores del figura Duke Nukem.
Gráficos correctos, mapas claros, enemigos algo repetitivos buena música y una correcta historia.

pros: varied weapons, humor, easy to learn, stable on windows 7

cons: platforming, clunky movement, non-rebindable controls, the game really ramps up the instant death scenarios as you progress

Overall, the only objective in this game is to find a keycard and rescue a babe on every level, then enter a boss fight on the third level of every chapter (8 chapters total), and will take around 7 hours to complete the game. Platforming and instant death just ruins any fun this game has.
Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is a hit or miss.

A good flashback hybrid of how these games used to be. Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project combines the loveable voice, antics and comments that we love about Duke and adds in some old gameplay from the DOS versions and even spices it up with updated graphics! The game is easy to play and can be played with a gamepad which makes things a tad easier. The game itself plays like any Duke game, some enemies sprinkled on a level with a few puzzles, weapons are basic and secrets aren't entirely secrets if you know where to look. The game does however have awesome gore, and gives a feeling of nostalgia to any classic Duke fans. It isn't by anymeans a bad game and is totally worth the near $6 price tag it is currently carrying.

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is a PC Game made by the rad as all hell people from the Now-Defunct SunStorm Interactive in 2002. (The same guys who made Duke Carribean: Life's a Beach and Duke it Out in D.C.)

You play as Duke Nukem in a middle of a parade/announcement when all of a sudden [b]PIG COPS[/b] coming at Duke to try ki-Huh. They went down in 1 shot.

Anyway, turns out aliens have nothing to do in this game. Instead it's [strike]Doctor Proton[/strike] [b]Mech Morphix[/b] with G.L.O.P.P (Gluon Liquid Omega-Phased Plasma) to you guessed it, [b]TAKE OVER THE WORLD![/b] (Of Course!)

You have seven weapons to use including a secret weapon if fulfill a certain bonus throughout the whole game in Platforming Action. (Duke's first game was a Platformer.)

The weapons goes from Duke's Golden Gun to the almighty PULSE CANNON! (not the secret weapon)

The game runs on the Prism3D Engine, similar to the Unreal Engine. It has seen some better days.

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is a better game than DNF could ever be. (Ironically, DNF started out as a platformer but was scrapped to become the game we all know.)

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project - родился под строгим взором 3D Realms, но создателем выступила студия - Sunstorm Interactive*. Эта игра была далеко не тем, что все привыкли видеть в Duke 3D. Постойте, далеко не тем? Пожалуй да, одно, "далекое" отличие все же было - это был полноценный платформер, с "парящей и следящей" за Дюком камерой. Все примечательные фишки (Дюк, юмор, женщины, секреты... что-то еще, ах да - карточки) остались на месте.

...настал тот момент, когда заветный диск попал в мои руки:
-[i]"О, мои не стальные яйца - это же новый Дюк!"[/i]
А между тем, временной отрезок между играми в серии составил шесть лет... много? Много - это не навсегда.

[h1]Геймплей.[/h1]
Сюжет... это пожалуй самая важная вещь в играх серии Duke Nukem... если вы его найдете, обязательно поделитесь со мной сценарием :}
Конечно же сюжет\цель в игре присутствует, но он\она не такие обширные, как например...** Главный злодей игры - Морфикс, при помощи радиоактивной слизи, под названием "G.L.O.P.P.", превращает разных существ в мутантов.
И конечно же главный злодей захватил в плен всех пиксельных полигональных красоток! Дюк не остался в стороне и с первой же секунды игры, мощной правой ногой выбивает дверь, ведущую на крыши Нью Йорка.
К слову об уровнях... в игре их приличное кол-во. Локации\эпизоды игры разнообразны: крыши Нью Йорка; китайский (или японский?) квартал; канализация; метро и т.д. по списку. Всего, вроде как восемь эпизодов (старый стал, запамятовал).
Так же, в игре, на некоторых уровнях (помимо карточек) имеются пазлы\головоломки, что делают игру еще увлекательней и требуют небольшого взаимодействия с мозгом игрока.

[h1]Механика.[/h1]
Пинать. Стрелять. Колотить - все как всегда. Дюк умеет делать подкаты; лазить по металлическим балкам; отстреливать свинокопов, будучи находясь на лестнице\балке... чем дальше, тем увлекательней игровой процесс.

[h1]Почему платформер?![/h1]
Действительно, я задумался над этим, ибо (позор мне и пинок ботинком) не знал, что у Дука Нукема 3D есть брутальный, пиксельный, двухмерный предшественник! В двух частях!! Более того, изначально в дюке не было никаких монстров, атмосфера игры была пропитана роботами и зловещим доктором Протоном (о котором к слову в Дюке 3D ни слова). Это уже сегодня можно видеть процесс развития сюжета, посмотрев на DNF, в котором идет логическое продолжение тех первых Дюков (dlc к DNF тому прямой намек на старый дизайн-лист игры)***.

Пройдя Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, в последних строчках титров можно прочитать намек на следующую игру серии.
На диске с игрой находится (самый эпичный и мозго-выносящий) трейлер к сиквелу блондина, который выйдет в далеком 2011-ом году, и в том же году, по давней традиции, Дюка перенесут, но уже в последний раз...
Пускай DNMP - спин-офф от студии, которая создала неплохие дополнения к DN3D, но эта игра долгие годы помогала фанатам серии ждать долгостроя. Благодаря этому отрезку времени, игра обрела своих поклонников, обросла модификациями, и подарила часы весьма интересного и разнообразного геймплея.
