The official server is gone, for anyone who didn't know. Last I heard there were plans for a private server to play on, but I know nothing about it beyond that. The voxel tech deserves to live on, I've never played a game where you could do so much with the building blocks. I hope the devs sell or otherwise pass on whatever it takes to see voxelmancy in another game. <3 to my fellow builders, keep stacking those blocks. Your creations were amazing.

Un rêve de sandbox galactique sabordé par ses propres créateurs

Dual Universe avait tout pour devenir une référence du MMO sandbox spatial : un monde unique, un système de construction ultra-puissant, une économie dynamique pensée pour les joueurs, et une promesse ambitieuse de civilisation collaborative à grande échelle.

Mais tout ça, c’était avant que Novaquark ne l’abandonne.

Serveur MMO en train de mourir à petit feu, avec une population si faible qu’on se croirait en post-apocalypse.
Mises à jour inexistantes depuis des mois. Le jeu est en mode "maintenance silencieuse", sans roadmap, sans avenir, sans respect.
Fermeture officielle du serveur annoncée pour août 2025 — et pas un mot d’excuse ou de mea culpa, juste un petit fichier à télécharger pour continuer "en solo".
Le “myDU” ? Une rustine offline à 35 balles pour bricoler dans son coin… aucun intérêt sans communauté vivante.

Novaquark a trahi ses backers, ses fondateurs, et sa communauté. Ce n’est plus un jeu : c’est une ruine numérique. Une expérience stérile, vendue comme un univers vivant.

Dual Universe, c’est l’exemple parfait de ce qu’on obtient quand une idée géniale est mise entre les mains d’un studio sans vision à long terme.
Tu construis un empire, tu poses une usine automatisée, tu fais voler un vaisseau spatial… mais pour quoi faire, au final ?

Conclusion :
Un MMO sandbox sans joueurs, sans mises à jour, sans avenir, mais toujours en vente. Le rêve est mort, enterré avec ses propres plans.

Ne perdez pas votre temps ici.

В концепции игра, конечно, прикольная: открытый космос, экономика, которая строится игроками, строительство всего и вся. Но..
Изначально очень затянула, но на 50-ом часу стала изрядно надоедать, бесконечный крафтинг на стартовой планете и больше ничего. Крафтинг не самая удобная и приятная вещь, его можно не плохо автоматизировать, скрипты LUA и разные постройки для автоматизации, но не на старте и не в первые 100 часов, может и не во вторые 100. По началу вас ожидают круги ада в интерфейсе нанокрафтера. Крафтинг максимально многослойный, основной элемент состоит из деталек, которые состоят из деталек, которые состоят из переработанной руды, которую надо собрать. Места в инвентаре не хватает и необходимо бесконечно перекладывать с контейнера(которые тоже надо крафтить) в инвентарь и обратно. При таком многослойном и бесконечном крафте UX\UI просто ужасный, не интуитивный, не собранный. Общим списком чего и сколько нужно в целом для конкретного элемента - вы не увидите, а по мере приближения к постройке корабля нужно будет больше места для хранения и т.д. Далее для вас откроется второй ад с индустриальными линиями где на квадратный метр нужно установить 100500 лайнов разных размеров и назначений, так как разные элементы и детали крафтятся в совершенно разных машинах и самый занимательный факт в том, что все эти лайны не поддерживают очередь крафта, аналогичную нанокрафтеру, только один элемент и после вручную выбирать другой и так в каждом. Игра будто бы про крайт и майнинг и больше ни о чем и весь геймплей игры скатывается к бесконечной беготне вокруг контейнеров и линий производства. Волей не волей вам придется запускать производство, даже если не хотите, обойтись парой установок не получится. Заниматься больше нечем, до первого корабля еще далеко, его мало того надо накрафтить, более того еще и построить и не просто построить, а грамотно, чтобы он нормально взлетел и куда-то долетел.
Игра сложная, надо разбираться, искать инфо отдельно, а полезного контента мало, его почти нет. Без базового знания английского - не разобраться вообще. Даже со средним английским сложновато, много читать и запоминать, терминология - голова пухнет. Есть система обучения, за прохождение которой вы получаете игровую валюту бонусом и более менее помогает что-то узнать, опять же, если с английским все ок, так как ИИ на обучении болтает без умолку, текста много, а в ее рассказах важные моменты.
Процедурные планеты без вмешательства дизайнеров - пустые, скучные, нулевая флора, нет фауны, однотипные ландшафты. Даже в перерывах, пока идет крафт изучать их не хочется, полюбоваться видами не получиться. В игре есть фишка с VR перемещениями, таким способом я побегал по всем планетам и их спутникам и не увидел ни одной красивой или интересной планеты. Для меня странно, что при таком кол-ве планет их создают процедурно.
Система строительства спорная, не все задуманное получиться реализовать, не каждую форму можно создать, оттого все постройки в игре выглядят как шмотки пластмассы. Из-за необходимости напичкать корабль многими, важными для полета элементами(крылья, аэротормоза и пр.) в дизайне вы ограничены.
Мир, который строят игроки - и "да" и "нет". Городов вы не увидите, аутентичных построек тоже, каждый строит в меру возможностей и собственного вкуса, получается бесшовный игрушечный китч. Построить что-то грандиозное требует много времени и ресурсов, которые должны окупиться и из этого вытекает вопрос, а оно надо? Построить город, но для чего, функциональным его не сделать - это просто декор, заработать на нем мало вероятно получиться. Экономические возможности в игре есть, можно организовать аренду помещений в вашем городе, собственный рынок и т.д., но будет это иметь спрос или нет вы узнаете только после того как вбухаете ресурсы и время в строительство. Архитектурная составляющая очень хромает, ее просто нет, и все опять же склоняется к майнингу и производству.
Аренда ячеек на планете для добычи ресурсов дорогая, 500 к в неделю, к моменту вылета со стартовой планеты у вас примерно на неделю и будет. Пока не понятно, окупиться ли это на рынке, онлайн вроде как есть, на всех планетах много ячеек заняты игроками, много жирных игроков занимают большие территории, что говорит об играбельном рынке, где-то же они добывают валюту для этого. Но пока не понятно.
Попробовать первый месяц поиграть можно, но лично я не стану оплачивать последующие, тем более по 10-15 долларов, не стоит своего. Разрабов с такой монетизацией понять можно, в них инвестировали огромные деньги и им их как-то надо вернуть, а игра судя по всему затухает.

I would recommend this game, but with some conditions. It does not seem to be geared towards solo players AT ALL. Progression and industry scaling are not at all solo friendly. Going from tier to tier, figuring everything out, then getting a grasp on what's required left me thinking this game is not for me. Not for the time investment or learning curve. There are just some massive gaps in progression between the levels of industry scaling. Which is a shame, because the concept of this game really is nice. It just has some deep execution flaws.

I’m incredibly torn on this game. There is so much potential but in its current state with a subscription model and so few players I’m not sure I can recommend it.

I want to start with the following - my first month was paid for by a friend. He wanted to get our gaming group to give it a shot - and most of us would have said no due to the subscription model. For the price of one month per player not even as a group - we can set up a server for a long list of other sandbox, open-world, crafting, survival games. The entire premise of a subscription model for a game is a huge turn off for both myself and others. I know I’ll sound like a broken record based on other reviews - there are some things the game does really well and it has a lot of potential, but in its current state it is all wasted. There have been a total of 4 patches (some of them weren’t even substantial in my opinion) from what I could tell. There have been no updates, or added content in over a year.

With that out of the way:

Pros:
1.Building/Voxel - the ability to design and create whatever comes to mind is truly incredible. If you are artistic or creative - the sky's the limit with this system. It takes getting used to and getting the industry going to actually play with it is a huge time commitment.

2.Community - overall the player base that remains is lovely. There is an entire market set up by one of the organizations - I spent a bit of time talking with her and she is absolutely wonderful. I’ve bought several blueprints from players and when I have questions I reach out and have yet to have a bad experience. One of them even upgraded my Odin for me. I bought a factory blueprint, went back to buy another and ran into the player that made it. He told me about some issues when setting up and we added each other on Discord in case I needed help. The player creations - especially from some of the players that have been around from beta - are incredible.Granted not all the player experiences have been positive but overall it’s a nice community.

3.Cozy - seriously it’s a sandbox with no threats. There is no water bar, or food consumption, or oxygen to worry about. You can’t die unless you are sitting down. Like you can jump out of a moving ship and drop all the way to a planet without any damage. There are no NPCs or enemies to deal with. Combat is basically optional.

4.Programming - this is not really my cup of tea but the scripts players have designed for this game are amazing.

5. This game is buggy and sooooooo poorly optimized. We are a tight-knit group - 6 of us have tried to play the game - only 1 has been able to consistently run the game and that is with restarting several times during play. Two of us can run it but will have to restart due to loading issues, or falling through the floor, etc. 1 wasn’t able to play for 13-14 days even after submitting a ticket (which with a subscription based model is awful) and another can’t even get into the game.

6. Exploration & Planets - this one is hard. There is nothing in the game that is created by the dev team. If you want to go discover a planet or find something hidden - you will be disappointed. The planets are barren. Like completely barren. There are no structures, no animals, no real weather, etc. outside what players have built. It’s not like the planets in No Man’s Sky that are full of creatures and weird plants.The night time is awful - so dark you might as well be playing Phasmophobia with no lights on in the Asylum (actually you might be able to see more in that game). The only interesting things are player made and generally speaking only on Alioth.

7.Not new player friendly - there is a 500k quanta tax to maintain your base. There are no NPCs to give missions and the majority of the economy is player based (there are ~3 daily missions you can do). On top of that - crafting requires schematics which require you guessed it quanta. So…. getting set up is difficult - if you can get enough currency for a baby hauler and go out mining asteroids you can get set up but definitely not friendly for new players or solo players.

8.Mining - asteroid mining is the way to go - since the tiles you live on have really little in the way of resources. However, flying out to the asteroid takes 25-45 mins. You get there hoping to find the resources you want, dig holes, and farm up the mats by hand. Not Space Engineer style of making cool ships to get it - no…. you have to mine it by hand and eventually it will be broadcast to players. The last part isn’t much of an issue since there aren’t that many players.. The alternative to the asteroids are mining units which every 3 days you get to play a mini game to optimize. The mini game is basically just clicking to find the brightest spot to place it on. It’s tedious and you have to level it up so even the bonuses for having tiles next to each other are again limited due to leveling time. It’s similar to Eve where every single skill takes time to level. Without the skills you can’t do certain things soooo you are stuck waiting.

9. Dev team/Customer Service - This game has had no updates in around a year. There are NQ employees that will log on for events - races, tours, build showings, etc. But if you have an issue and submit a ticket, good luck. One of our friends had to wait 13 days to get a solution on a ticket. So nearly half his subscription time was UNPLAYABLE. The compensation, which I really don’t want to use that word, was basically a middle finger for the trouble. They didn’t even offer compensation - he had to ask if there was something that could be done about the lost time on the subscription. He was offered 100k talent pts - not quanta to pay his taxes, or buy mats for building, or a ship blueprint.. Not an extension on the subscription, even though it was a GAME issue not a device issue - nope just talent points and not even enough to make a dent in the long list of things needed to actually get started on the game.

10.If you stop playing - you will lose everything except for your stuff in Haven. So basically $15 dollars a month, or ~$180 per year or all your builds will be gone. All those hours invested for literally nothing. It’s not like MC, Ark, Space Engineers, Pal World, etc. where you can back the server up and play later. Nope. Gone. If you have issues with your subscription - I guess hope it’s through steam so you can get your money back, because getting help will take a good chunk of your subscription time.

Overall - I don’t think this game is worth ~$180 per year. Genuinely, after 2 months of playing the game still feels completely abandoned and more like a chore I have to get on and maintain. I wouldn’t be surprised if the only reason this game is still around is some contract made during the kickstarter or for financial backing.

I'm here to give this only a review. I'm a backer of this game and played it a lot. But I'm very disappointed how this turned out. It's nothing more than a building simulator, and only if you keep it very simple with buildings and small ships. If you want build bigger and more advanced, then you will find out quickly that everything cost a lot of 'money' and a lot of time.

A small example. You want bigger engines? You need to pay for 'research' each time, (it's more like patent trolling), even if you have the factory and resources for it. And when you can pay for it you have to wait hours before it is done. Well, of course you could buy the engine on the market if you're lucky, if getting money wasn't a problem.

You can sell the ore that you mined, but the market is practically dead now with less buying players around. So, you will not get much money anymore.

Traveling cost also a lot of time, even with the warp option.

To sum it up: everything cost time and virtual money and is slow. No NPC's around. Quiet and boring places around. Slow ore gathering and slow factories. Long travel time to a mining asteroid. Hard work and low income. High taxes for a piece of land and you need to pay each week.

The only great thing is the building option. You can build almost everything with the voxels. But that's all.

No wonder that this game is practically dead.

I remember playing this game in its early stage, when there was the original mining, i felt like that was a good feature, but now the new miners are confusing, The shuttles ruin the game mystery to explore other planets and the developers have made the learning curve very steep and it has become very hard to learn production. Also im not sure why they added a tax for sectors of planets. This game had so much potential 3 years ago, but the addition of all these complicated features has made liking the game very hard. Also why are there different types of engines, why is there different types, engine is engine.

Tried few times in different stages of development. In much early stages it was much more promising.
The only thing is cool is ship/base building. This is it. And Lua language support for programming.
Building a production line is a huge pain where devs invented a mechanism to steal your play time - and they outplayed themselves, now the game has steep entry point for new player. I don't remember when I felt so silly in a game.
Mining mechanism related to this issue as well.
Skip it, do not waste you time, unless you will enjoy the game process or the game will get real changes.

外国のプレイヤーにリミッター騒ぎされてこのゲームのサービスがほとんどない。わびといってもサービスを使わせたくないらしくわざと付けた。またリミッター騒ぎしたらリアルで殺してやる。許さない！！警察がちょろちょろしてたがレビュー見た人が警察に言ったのがわかる。

Тупая игра, 10 дней крафтишь корабль, чтобы он потом забагался где то на 30 км над поверхностью, завис там, и чтобы его забрать нужно с нуля начать крафтить новый корабль, но когда ты туда долетишь ты выйдешь из кораблся чтобы войти в старый и тебя новым багом катапультирует на скорости 100500 км\с от него. Как вернуть корабль который ты неделю собирал? А никак, если ты наткнулся на баг, коих в игре дохрена, ты ничего назад не вернешь, тупо потраченое время в помойку... И зачем было запрещать игрокам собирать ресурсы на свободной территории, я оказался в жопе мира и не могу даже себе стул скрафтить, ресурсов на территории нет, пиздовать до станции 10 лет, что за геморой на геморое??? Сначала начать игру удалив перса нельзя, если ты вьебался на баге или какой то тупой механике, будь добр потратить еще пол дня чтобы хотябы что то начать делать в этой игре.
Поставил автоматический крафт на пару часов? Потом заходишь и видишь что тебе 1 трубы не хватило чтобы скрафтить промежуточный ресуср и у тебя ♥♥♥♥♥ не скрафтилось.
Поставил перса на автобег чтобы он голым добежал до базы? А ♥♥♥ там он упрется в какую нибудь текстуру через 100 метров и никуда не добежит.
Игра для терпил которые не работают у которых 24\7 мсвободного времени чтобы тупо бежать по локации и ждать 3 часа пока скрафтится 1 движок, + ко всему еще у мамки полторы тысячи на подписку в мес нужно выпрашивать. Полный кал, не тратте деньги на это

The game has potential I just wasn't able to experience it…

A friend purchased my first month of the game in the hopes that I would be able to experience the opportunity the sandbox environment had to offer and if I enjoyed it renew the subscription on my own. Upon launching the game and starting to try to move through the opening phases (character creation, landing on Haven, getting accustomed to the controls and tools) I was plagued with disconnections that only grew in frequency as I was playing.

Knowing that the subscription model wouldn't allow me to delay working on a fix I set out to try many different fixes I found online and when all of those failed I opened a ticket to the dev team.

The ticket sat with no response for 4 day when I decided to send in another message detailing all prior attempted fixes as well as new ones that we dug up through further research and a copy of a game log from a crash. A few hours after I updated the ticket I received a reply that the ticket was being reviewed, a glimmer of hope...or so I thought.

I offered to send any additional systems information they might need if it would help in the process and then waited 3 more days for a reply. The reply was asking if I was using a VPN as this can cause the particular crash that I was experiencing, I wrote back that I was not using a VPN. During this time, due to the delays in getting assistance from the dev team - we continued to try other solutions including different devices, both clients, and even researching tickets from 2-3 yrs ago.

4 days later they had reviewed the log and the steps I had used to try to correct the issue and determined I had tried everything that they would normally try to fix the issue so they were going to forward the information to the devs for further review. They asked for me to run a speed test in case it might be needed which I obliged.

2 days later I was advised to log in and see if I am still experiencing the issues as they had attempted a fix. It worked, but I was unable to play the game for 13 days of my 30 day subscription. I wrote back to let them know that the fix did work and to inquire if there was a possibility of an extension on my subscription as I was unable to play for nearly half the time that had been paid for

4 days later I was offered 100,000 talent points (an in game currency used to train talents)
These are not a premium currency, they are in fact accrued over time and in a measurable amount 90/minute (if you have talents queued which I did) so according to the devs my 13 days of not being able to play was worth 18.5 hours of an otherwise free currency. To put into perspective if you have not played the game and are reading this to figure out if you want to give the game a shot - the tier 3-5 skills - which are the ones needed to really get into optimization going require 300k+. Furthermore, this was not a currency that I could even use to maintain my base (there is a 500k Quanta weekly tax) or to purchase blueprints or materials to make up for not being able to play.

If you don't have issues with the game and enjoy what it has to offer it seems like it could be great. But my experience was marred with disconnection, bugs/glitches, and a pitiable offer of compensation for time lost have turned me off of further investment in the project.

The game suffers from trying to do too many things and failing at all of them. It tries to be an automated factory game, but it's no good at that. It tries to be a deep space sim, but it fails at that. Just about the only thing the game does right is the ship building, but even that's impossible because parts take LITERAL WEEKS to build and by the time you're done, you will have paid 150 dollars just in the subscriptions alone. All of that time just to skim the ground on your new ship because the planet didn't load in and lose everything.

If you play through Steam then you you may find that you can only get your first month through Steam. The advertised "Link to your steam wallet" to pay for additional month's sub time did not show and did not work for me so I had to pay through Novaquark's own account login page.
This game has many potential features tho seems to lack support and quality of life updates. Generally it all still feels half complete and somewhat abandoned.
There are some great crafting options and a wide range of potential career and skill options... just no real objectives. You can make your own objectives like built this or try that but then what ?
The controls and UI are cumbersome.
The game has strange bugs, mainly the result of rendering being fairly demanding and it seems the servers are not exactly fully up to the challenge at times.
The Support for when things go wrong seems to have faded also apart from a group of dedicated players who are pretty helpful and friendly.

Try the free Demo and if you find that's all you want in a game then great if you're also prepared to pay each month for only that but otherwise there are many other options in the works so maybe check them out instead.

Ich hatte schon in der Crowd-Funding-Phase das Spiel unterstützt.

Das ♥♥♥-Model wäre sogar gegangen. Aber der Preis für ein Grundstück pro Woche, zwang mich dazu eigentlich nur massiv Ressourcen zu farmen.

Obendrein, waren die Grundressourcen immer teurer als die Erzeugnisse. Warum die Spieler das getan haben, ihre Erzeugnisse unter dem Materialkosten zu verkaufen, erschließt mich bis heute nicht.

Also Fazit: 4 Claims(Grundstück) brauche ich 2mio pro Woche. Also Erze gefarmt, verkauft...32 Stunden(naja plus/minus) Spielzeit weg. Und das nur um...gleich darauf nochmal 2mio zu farmen... das ist weder anspornend noch macht es Spaß und killt eigentlich ab T2 Mats-Zeitalter alles weg.

Schade, die frühen Alpha-Version waren echt cool, wo man unter der Erde noch Erze abbauen mußte und die Verteil so war, daß man T1 und T2 für die Anfangsphase noch genügend auf einem Claim gefunden hatte.

Meine restlichen 20 Monate Zeitguthaben(DACs) werde ich wohl nie ausgeben.

This game is what the world needs.

A very satisfying in-depth space flight and building game with persistence, PVE and PVP, AND open market trading??? heck yes! the level of detail that can be achieved on builds due to the very granular build system is amazing!

A lot of ignoramuses will repeat what some say blindly "this game has so much potential that has been wasted" well, that is BS. Games like this are what YOU make of it. At this point in development it has very few bugs (none of which i notice) and is very stable. this game is NOT space engineers, it is NOT star citizen and does not attempt to be either, so it is not really fair to compare it to either, as it is in a class of its own, really. The subscription model does seem... not sustainable. i hate to say it, but if the devs dont actually do some marketing (nobody seems to be aware of this game's existance) and or change subsctiption mode to "free-to-play" model and allow paid sub members to have some marginal benefit, such as increased talent point accumulation rate, max blueprint slots, etc. and have microtransaction for element skins (and no other microtransaction for currency or items at all) this way, they could make more money from the few whales that are already time sunk into the game and want to make the most out of their time investment with a little monetary investment.

Either way, i am gonna play and enjoy this game for hopefully quite a long time.

Whilst still a ways off from the full vision of what we kickstarted, DU does do some things tremendously well;

[*] the first time you build a ship capable of breaking atmosphere and flying out into space only to realise you didn't make any space brakes.. (real world physics for gravity, lift, thrust etc)
[*] customising your ship with the voxel editor and making something slightly less cubular than a bog standard cube (the voxel system is crazily in depth but takes time to learn and master).
[*] writing a lua script for a door so it only opens when you or your friends walk near it (fully customisable screens, doors, buttons, engines and more through LUA scripting).

As a sandbox, it does what it says on the tin in spades.

You can claim territory, build whatever you like on land or in space, build ships, fight in pvp or pve, customise your creations to a degree no other game can offer, on a single server where every player is playing with every other player.

There is also alien cores to claim and fight over other players in a king of the hill style ownership which means you can collect plasma a very rare resource.

I'll caveat and say the PvP isn't as great as it could be, it's target lock and fire, and it needs some more nuance built into it to be abit more engaging but you can blow up other ships in deep space and steal from them.

If you like sandbox, endless creativity and customisation, DU might scratch an itch, if you want guided quests and npc's it probably won't, also you can try it for free.

Edit: March 2024, I still play DU, I just use their launcher instead of steam.

The ship building and the flight mechanics are really good and fun but cannot carry the game. The rest of the game is trash, just trash. $15 a month?? for trash? The devs are just squeaking along trying to keep the little paying customers they have. It really is a dumpster fire. The pvp is a joke, the pve is a joke, the crafting is a joke. I can't believe this game is still going...

Negatives
- Spieler die rumheulen, weil diese das Spiel mit einem normalen mmorpg mit Charaktere und Tank-Heiler-DPS verwechseln (das gibts halt nicht!)
- Es gibt in der Voxelbasierten Welt/Sonnensystem keine Möglichkeit AvA einzuführen, manche erhoffen sich soetwas noch, die Hoffnung stirbt wohl zuletzt
- Gebietskriege gibt es nicht
- es fehlt generell eine Möglichkeit eine Gruppe zu erstellen, ebenso daraus resultierend eine Freund-Feind-Erkennung.(evtl für Lua-Profies möglich?)
- derzeit keine Inhaltsupdates, da die Entwickler sich auf das Grundlegende System und die Skalierbarkeit der riesigen Spielwelt weltweit konzentrieren, sofern dies alles passt, stehen neue Dinge an.
- noch kein Ingameshop für kosmetische Dinge

Nachtrag Stand 2025: Das Spiel wird weder supportet, noch weiterentwickelt, noch finden irgenwelche Events von den ENtwicklern statt. Es ist schlicht tot und lebt nur noch in einer Art Untotenstarre durch die Spielereigenen Server, bei denen man allerdings die Anzahl in 1-50 Spieler abzählen kann und auch dort immer weniger zusammenkommen. Die Spielidee war bis dato klasse, die Umsetzung mittlerweile mangelhaft und die Weiterentwicklung schlicht nicht vorhanden. Ich muss also von empfohlen die REssezzion auf nciht empfohle verändern.

I played DU extensively during Beta (player name Silas7) and then took a break for about a year while the game evolved further. I recently returned to the game, and purchased the game through Steam. I decided to re-download the game through the developer's site, using my original account to do so, and thinking that might result in saved items being available (a few were). I have played the equivalent of just over "4 days and 17 hours" worth of time since returning, or roughly 100 hours. I have played multiple sandbox games and this one shines. Here is my take: (1) steep learning curve, (2) beautiful, manipulative environment, (3) unlimited crafting and editing of structures and ships, (4) endless combinations of building, purchasing, and combining the inputs and outputs of a wide range of industry machines to construct a similarly endless array of standalone or component products, (5) a sufficiently wide array of planets and asteroids to explore, settle, and/or gather resources (for your industry or to sell), and (6) a moderately sized community of arguably committed players who are friendly, helpful, and collaborative. As I read other reviews, I wonder if the negative ones really took the time to get to know this game. Basically, I see it like this: If you like repetitive, menu-driven, hand-holding in a game, DU is not for you. If you have a brain and want to take something as far as your imagination can go, DU is an excellent choice. I find the monthly sub very reasonable. I find the PVP option in the game inviting (and yes, dangerous, since you do lose your stuff) when venturing to the outer planets for precious resources and adventure. I currently play solo (and always have) but am considering the many organizations (clans) that are available to join. Bottom-line: DU is a great game. It is challenging. It is serene. It is sometimes dark and dangerous -- the physics model is accurate in its unforgiving of out of control flying. But overall it is a great "place" to adventure around in with essentially your own imagination being the limiting factor.

Wo fange ich bloß an,

Ich habe Dual Universe seit der Ersten Ankündigung im Auge gehabt.
Alles was Gezeigt und Erklärt wurde war zu schön um Wahr zu sein und Klang sehr Unglaubwürdig.

Als das Spiel dann Endlich auf Steam Erschienen ist war die Enttäuschung Meinerseits sehr groß, das dass Spiel nicht gut bei den Leuten ankommt. Ich habe sehr Lange mit mir Gerungen ein Monats ♥♥♥ zu Buchen, denn nur so Kann man auf der Regulären Welt Spielen.

Nun da ne Weile vergangen ist dachte ich mir, ich lass es jetzt mal drauf ankommen.
Schnell einen Account erstellt, Monats ♥♥♥ Gebucht, auf den Server Rauf: Pure Enttäuschung!!!

Es hat sich nicht viel Getan. Der Einstieg in die Core Mechaniken des Spiels, ist Lang, Mühselig und hinter Verschachtelten Menüs kaum zu Durchblicken. Man muss sich schon sehr Intensiv damit befassen, da das Micro Management in dem Spiel seines gleichen sucht.

Es gibt zwar sehr ausführliche Tutorials die einiges Erklären, nur leider nicht in der Reihenfolge wie es angebracht wäre und auch nicht Vollständig.
Ich habe mich durch diese ganzen Tutorial durch gearbeitet und war Hinterher nicht wirklich Schlauer, da vieles unnötig Kompliziert gestaltet wurde.
Mangels eines Fehlenden Tech-Baums ist es sehr Schwer festzulegen was man nun als nächstes tun sollte, und das erschwert einem den Einstieg ins Spiel Enorm. Bei der Menge an Komponenten und Material ist dieser leider zwingend Erforderlich.

Leider ist das Spiel auch schon so gut wie Tot und man trifft kaum bis gar keine anderen Spieler.
Der Start Planet auf dem ich bin, ist Voll von Unfertigen Basen und Projekten anderer Spieler die Vermutlich Aufgegeben haben, da der Einstieg so Zäh ist.
Kein gutes Zeichen für ein Spiel was damit Beworben wurde, das die Spieler die Welt Gestalten und mit Leben Füllen.

Es ist aber nicht alles schlecht an Dual Universe, viele Dinge sind echt Klasse und würden echt Lust auf mehr machen wenn der Einstieg nicht so Zäh wäre.

Der Bau Modus, das Tragende Kern Element des Spiel ist Spaßig und nur sehr schwer zu Meistern und man kann damit sehr Viel machen was in anderen Voxel-Spielen nicht möglich wäre. In einem der Tutorials waren einige sehr Sehenswerte Beispiele, was alles möglich ist, und das war sicherlich nur der Anfang.

Nur Leider reicht das nicht aus um eine Empfehlung Meinerseits Auszusprechen.

Liebes Entwicklerteam, Gestaltet den Einstieg ins Spiel Benutzerfreundlicher und so gut das ♥♥♥ Model auch ist, aber angesichts der Spieler Zahlen solltet ihr Vielleicht davon absehen und das Irgendwie anders Lösen.
Ihr habt hier ein Solides Spiel mit sehr Viel Tiefgang, aber wenn ihr die Spieler nicht halten Könnt aufgrund Verpatzter Beispiele die ich oben Genannt habe, wird euch das ♥♥♥ nicht weiter Helfen.

Wenn sich was ändert bin ich gern Bereit nochmal einen Blick zu Wagen. Meine 30 Tage werde ich noch Nutzen aber das war es danach auch.

i started playing this game about a week ago but i was hesitant to try at first because of a lot of bad reviews and sub system until i found out that it is much worth the price the game gives you the freedom to do anything you want and i think it awesome if you like games that don't limit what you can do and give you the ability to craft to explore or to reek havoc you can do it all the more i play the better it gets its very in dept and if your not willing to sink countless hours into this game than it may not be for you but IMO it is very fun and i would highly recommend it!

As much as I loved how in depth this game is I think that overall it should not be subscription base or the subscription price should be far less. Hear me out, I had played DU right after release with a group of friends and honestly this is the most in depth space game I have ever experienced, therefore I rate its play value very high however after paying roughly $40 for the base game and then having to pay $15 every single month to keep playing makes this game not worth playing for more than a month or so. I think that if this isn't reconsidered then eventually the number of committed players in the community will drastically drop and the game will render itself playerless. Honestly in my opinion if you want to play a very in depth space related game with friends and don't want to pay to play just get Empyrion. It is a game that is just as in depth and the building (like with voxels in duel universe) is very similar.

Warum muss man monatlich zahlen damit man es Spielen Stadt einmal Zu Zahlungen ich hasse es bitte macht einen vollen Preis ohne das man beim Spielen begrenzt ist z.b. 1 Monat für 12,99€ und außerdem wer kann es sich leisten also ich nicht das mit dem Stundencode finde ich schon gut wenn man Stunden Code bekommt indem man die Spiel Zeit in Stunden rein schreiben müsste! Ansonsten ist das spiel Gut perfekt ist es noch nicht aber hoffentlich hat man bald einen festen Kaufpreis wo man nur 1 mal zahlt!

Jo ich fands anfangs sehr interesannt und hab auch ü 200 std gespielt, auch mit einem pc der grad so die mindestanforderungen geschaft hat, aber nachdem ich erfahren habe das die die beta gezockt haben gleich vom ersten tag oder tage danach , sind ja schneller als die die das erste mal das spiel spielen, die besten ressourcen gleich alles beschlagnahmen und dann wenn man soweit is auf andere planeten zu kommen dann nicht die speziellen ressourcen findet oder ne stelle abbekommt, sondern nur noch den abfall produkte oder extrem minderwertige werte an ressourcen, hab ich aufgehört zu spielen das is das geld monatlich und die zeit dann nicht wert, dann zock ich lieber eve online und gib da mein geld aus, ich wollts dann nochmal versuchen mit nem besseren pc nach 10 monaten um es nochmal eine chance zu geben, und dann geht das spiel nicht mehr, es hängt sich gleich auf egal was ich versuche, sobald ich es starten will keine rückmeldung mehr. dabei hab ich etz die vorrausetzungen locker erfüllt. ich bin fertig mit dem spiel. allein scho das monatliche zahlen is total abzocke ich rate finger weg davon, von einem spiel wo die neuen eh klein bleiben und keine chance haben

Wenn man über die geistige Reife besitzt, sich in einem Sandbox-Spiel, selbst "Ziele" zusetzen, dann ist dieses Spiel zeitgemäß aufn Stand wo es hingehört. Aktuell nichts zu bemängeln. Bin hellauf begeistert. Zum Start, falls Ihr nicht wisst wo vorne und hinten ist, kann Euch eine Organisation (sprich Gilde/Allianz etc.), Euch gut helfen. За игру в которой развлечения надо придумывать себе самому? Разрабы взвалили на себя очень амбициозную задачу и с треском ее провалили. Мир абсолютна пустой. Физика очень условная. Dual Universe

the concept is very nice but as soon as i started it asked me to do a mission to fly from point A to point B and i mean the flight is way to difficult imagine having to fight someone in a ship i can't even fly and then there is the fact that i have to pay a monthly subscription to play a game i can not even play properly maybe it's my skill or the lack of it but why not make flying easier and remove the subscription just make the game 30 or 40 bucks you still get your money out of it put skins and build DLC,s on it that you can buy and earn your money like that i know none will be reading this that can actually make these changes or is willing to but i taught i just trow it out there anyways in my opinion is it's definitely not a game for me i like easy controls and big battles with as many ships as possible :p

Pros:
- Factorio and EVE combined
- you can build what ever you want...bases,ships,industry ( you want an Enterprise with all the decks...yep, you can build it)

Cons:
- hard to master, still needs polishing and improvements.
- small community that leads to a small unhealthy economy

This game got a lot of flak during development and the devs did some bad moves, but we are close to an equilibrium.
You will get addicted.

Dual Universe is no where as bad as described on a lot of the reviews I have read on Steam before I wrote this review. The game is a grinder. However, its nothing compared to Kenshi or some other similar games I have played more than 300 or 400 hours. The game has also had a bit of controversy, like any game attempting to package something new or different beyond what already exist in a genre. The group working the game by NQ is also a small staff I have been told by many who play everyday like myself. I want to qualify that I was a contributor to the game when it was in kick starter mode some years ago. I found this "idea of a game" at that time when I grew tried of EVE Online. EVE is a great game - but I wanted to get out of the ship and interact with players and be in buildings etc. Hot wheels in space got old. I'm creative and like building stuff too. I like the idea of working the market in retail fashion.

Dual Universe while not entirely delivering on all that was promised has pieced together a game that allows the user ultimate creative control unparalleled in any game I have played similar beside Minecraft. The game is ridiculously "up to you" to decide how you want to play as you can go focus on one style or maybe you just enjoy the flying like I do? The game combines aspects of Minecraft, console (PSX 3/4) games like War Hawk/Star Hawk (in which you could call down barriers or design forts etc) except that you can literally build anything you want in addition to your starting domicile. The game has industry and a talent system that is approaching Ever Quest in detail and difficulty - but nothing that serious or close. Its just specific and detailed and takes time to build up talents. Like once you decide you have to see it thru or begin with another alt. As you build with the Voxel system you will improve but I built two decent vehicles the first that got me to another planet very soon. But now I have purchased any number of ships from the players in game who make great ships! Most ship builders have ships available to beginners too. Not as expensive.

At this time it does not contain NPCs but this may change as the game is still evolving and fleshing out. PvE was just added along with the re introduction of two planets (totally re designed - complete with story arc tie ins to the PvE). The PvP which was available at launch was a dud and it was somewhat redesigned recently with the last patch. Changes continue to be made - the staff listens to the player community. So the ongoing changes are somewhat community directed.

I play the game daily and have yet to attempt a PvE mission. But this has not affected my standing or how much fun I have playing. The game is like baseball - like you are playing against yourself. Its really whatever you want to make it. No structured development pathway exist. The community also will help beginner and are always available for advice real time in the chat (like EVE - the chat and Discord community is really good and active).

The game has industry. A proto capitalist economy - with market stations where players can meet and barter/trade etc. The economy is best described as proto cap (to say its like Mercantilism would be pushing it really) in that its market based but prices fluctuate somewhat. You have large Orgs that have great purchasing power as well as production capabilities. However, someone who is a loner like me can get bye easily. I own tiles which I pay weekly tax on (500K) but I generate a lot of revenue from the tiles by harvesting and selling Ore at the market. This more than covers my taxes easily leaving money to do other things with. Everyday when you sign into the game you get 100K.

One can also build and sell ships. DU has a website where players can advertise and sell their vehicle creations/ static items are for sale including LUA code scripts (A lot of the LUA coders post stuff community made on Github - for instance I use ARCH HUD to fly -this was made by community and you add it to the game yourself). One of the best parts of the game is building with the Voxel system. This is cool and some people have gotten really good with it here lately. One player named Bazzy has even created four or five replicas of EVE ships with great curving contours and sleek lines! The beginning player has tutorials for everything including how to build and fly in atmosphere and space.

So if like me you are looking to find a game where you can build like Minecraft, fly like other space games and work industry - check out Dual Universe! We have pirates like EVE Online, we have a safe space for people who don't want to risk getting jacked in outer space b/c they just started - we mine asteroids and do all kind of crazy stuff in Dual Universe! The game has really gotten a bad wrap of late. I was disappointed initially b/c I wanted factional warfare and fighting - but I have a feeling this will come as the game develops over the next few years.....

READ BEFORE YOU BUY:
If you stop paying your subscription for 3 months, EVERYTHING you own (outside of the starter zone) disappears.
All your ships, your factories space stations and everything else.
Think about that before committing to this game cause it's either a lifetime commitment or not worth starting at all.

Apart from that huge issue, the game is ok-ish. Fun to jump in for a while every now and then to set up factories and build ships etc :)

its a decent game the schematics are a bit of a bottleneck early game aslong as you do the tutorials and try to get a ship todo missions for more quanta to progress at the bigenning just be sure to also make sure you put the starting base you start with near a starport on either Haven or sanctuary since most items you could be needing is at market 6 on Alioth make sure to remember what market the starport takes you to just incase you end up on the other side of the moon you start on.

For people who are returning from before the game came out on steam you need to link the DU to your steam if you have bought the game you will get 6mil talent points game had a wipe so i guess that was tobe expected when the game was on alpha.

the the Community is respectful, friendly and mature to new players and returning players aswell

for clarification the PVE missions are in safe zones on the map theres a light blue sphere engulfing a few planets including the starting planets the missions are within 2SE from when the mission was issued so you shouldnt get Ganked if you did you mighta been to far out from the border to get missions its F8 but i would recomend getting a ship with a shield and making sure you have weapons with a full ammo container for said weapons

This game is in no way shape or form worth a monthly subscription of ANY amount of money. If we pay for this subscription and have it for a year, we are paying almost $180. There is NO GAME out there worth that much. For that amount of money, i would expect a WHOLE lot more but this game is barely bare minimum. I think the devs are a disgrace to gaming and they turned a decent game if it were to be sold for 45 bucks into a steaming pile of garbage. I'm going to go play a game now that is a billion times better than this one and it's only in alpha status. One last thing that i want you to think about before you buy this garbage..... There are a TON of complaints on steam and their website about the monthly subscriptions. There isn't a single person who thinks that DU is worth that monthly subscription. The devs have seen all the comments and they have changed NOTHING. That tells me that they do not care about our input nor do they care about the complaints. They care about $$$$$$$ and nothing else. My recommendation is to go buy star citizen because the devs could care less about your opinion or complaints. they just want your money.

I backed the game very early on Kickstarter, I played all Alphas und Betas. Not the few hours you see no Steam, but literally thousands of hours. Including the idle or chatting times probably already ten thousand+.

I was probably complaining more about this game and NovaQuark than most other players, and I have probably been investing more time than I actually want to admit. I built bases, ships, spacestations, built up a ship design and sales business, developed one of the probably most used scripts in the game (you can code in LUA with an EXTENSIVE API provided through the game, display data on monitors, code spaceship HUDs, create control centers overseen entire industries, etc.), I have mined, traded, and had insane fun with the many very nice and kind people in the game.

I have loved the game, I had hopes, I have left it twice and have returned to it twice.

This game is terribly hard to learn and even harder to master. It's more of a sandbox than a game and still you have so much more to do than in most other sandboxes I have seen. It gives you a second home to built up your empire. And yes, currently it's emptier than in the first years in which we had huge ship exhibitions with hundreds of amazing designs, probably the best community moments I ever had in any game. But it's still all there, it's still amazing.

The current average review of "Very Negative" comes from two types of people: (a) the ones who waited for years for things to materialize they had hoped for, and (b) the ones who think it's one of the other dodo-lego-games in which you get immediate gratification. This game is hard. And it lacks many things, while it likewise provides more already than most other games out there.

Yes, I hate Dual Universe for many things it is not, but the love I feel because of what actually it, is bigger. It's a gaming experience of a lifetime, and it doesn't deserve to die.

You hate the game because it costs a subscription? You know what? Stop reading and continue to enjoy your boring Netflix subscription if that's what you prefer. Dual Universe is worth the money, and once you played for 2, 4, 6, 12 months, you will think: "What? All of this fun I had only costed a hundred bucks? Hell, yes!"

Another funny edit here. NQ has selected very touchy moderators for their discord and if you even try to ask questions or make any assumptions you will just get banned and muted or in their terms "Put in timeout" In my time on discord a mod by the name of Comrademoco has gone on an absolute power craze banning and muting people but never did anything about the people who actually started the issue or drug it on and on and on. Very selective on who they ban so if your not their friend chances are you better just keep your mouth shut and not have any criticism for the game at all. Feedback that is not just praising the devs will immediately get shot down and you will likely get banned. The mods have also come out stating they get free bonsi plants bi-weekly and is an ultra rare item and access to the PTS which the rest of the players do not. This is not a game that you should play, the community is dwindling further and the devs seem to be on hiatus and are completely absent. If you dont read the rest of the review thats fine but just note, i would not recommend this to anyone.

So funny edit here, apparently leaving negative reviews can get your account locked to the point you can not even submit a support ticket under your account. Sounds like some butt hurt devs to me! Good riddance dont ever play this game, devs try to act like gods instead of devs. Their updates consist of a handful of fixes at best, seriously though last update was 5 line items for that week that wernt even really important, week before that 3 lines....what a joke. Will never recommend this game to anyone. BTW i had 4 accounts and all of them were locked at the same time.

So 1.4 Drops, adding PVE in, new planets, ore to mine ect. Previously on launching new planets they messed up the ore distribution as well as the labels of what was actually on the planets, guess what here comes the same mistakes they made last time. Territory scanners not working properly, people get stuck in missions the same org has control over every single alien core in the game. ALL HUDS are completely trashed with their lua update. The controller update is also not working. They have introduced more bugs into this update than what they have ever removed. The only thing that seems to work properly out of this update is the ability to claim the alien cores which 99.99% of players will never be able to do. What a complete waste of time and money. 1.4 for me is going to last a whole 2 hours and im done.

First of all, the time played here does not reflect the accounts I've had outside of steam, ive paid another 15 bucks to simply have the ability to leave a review here to hopefully help others avoid this scam.

I have been here since Alpha. I have watched this game progress over the years and I want so badly for this game to succeed. I mean ive already paid for 4 accounts.... This game has sooo much potential however unfortunately the devs just cant make up their mind about where this game is going, cant share where this game is going and everything just seems to be hush hush or secretive. People get banned for hilarious reasons even if its a disagreement on a forum post where the devs get butt-hurt about things that their player base doesnt like ect.

The game has beautiful graphics and is likely the most expandable MMO out there due to its implementation into the AWS systems. There are loads of things you can build in the game and your creativity is really the limit however there is no good story line, hardly any content unless you just want to mine and build all day and then go lose it to PVP where only like 2 large orgs exist for PVP and those 2 orgs control all of the resources that are available to be retrieved for the high end game mats known as plasma. This item allows you to craft the exotic items for your ships and decorative items as well.

When I say this game has potential, I mean it would have potential if it was in a different developers hands. Since launch they have actually removed more than they have put in to the game. In beta we had more planets and things we could do and at launch they removed most of the planets and the server performance has worsened to the point of crashing while flying which ends up crashing your ship into the ground because the game itself is unstable which uses up a life on your elements and is very time consuming and costly to repair.

It also may be worth noting that since the launch of this game, their updates to the game have dwindled down to almost non existent change logs that even indie developers would scoff at. They have also started an entirely separate project and have been hiring substantially for it instead of improving on the game they still need to get off the ground first and need more developers as well but it seems they are likely more interested in getting a game filled with micro transactions to fill the wallets of the leadership team. This literally doesnt even make sense because this game could have its own micro transaction shop as they have already brought in skins into the game and to me it seems to be a loss on their part for not capitalizing on this first hand as I am a sucker for collecting skins for elements which is part of the reason I have 4 accounts to begin with from the referral bonuses.

This game could be great if Novaquark was left out of the picture and another development team took over the project. The devs have taken down their "suggestion box" as apparently they have enough material from beta they dont even need to get anything from their new players.

$15 a month is a payment I would expect from a mostly completed game that has hours and hours of content. This just doesnt have that kind of content to keep someone busy for months let alone years and years. Its your money overall but at this time I just cannot recommend this game to anyone.

What was the last straw for me? Well I ran into another bug and a simple one at that. You can set your resurrection node to re-spawn at and when I did this and re spawned it put me on a whole different planet that was no where near my re-spawn point on my ship. This would in turn waste about 2 hours or more of game-play just to get my character back to the point it should have been at the start. A simple game mechanic like this shouldnt be having issues like this in a "released" game. After having 2 years of "open beta" that people had to pay for, this should have been taken care of there.

The list of issues with this game is simply too long to even bother explaining just know that this game desperately needs help and if this was still in beta I would probably recommend it to people to try out and leave feedback on but in its current state of "release" I would say this should be considered more of a "released alpha" that players pay for to help the devs keep a job as a hobby because they are not apparently skilled enough in what they do and they dont even play their own game to know what the state of the economy and player-base truly needs to flourish. They are constantly meddling with the economy and other little things that just dont need to be adjusted and currently have more money sinks in the game than what is currently coming into the game.

Additionally, their first "large" update ended up breaking a ton of stuff and they ended up having a big issue on their hands with the player base and had to take the server down several times during this to fix the issue which ended up being a huge controversial issue with how that was handled.

Long story short, if you want a space game to go play, check out Star Citizen, Eve Online, Space Engineers, Empyrion, Stationeers or literally anything other than this game.

Unintuitive. This game is best described as Unintuitive.I played just long enough to try flying a ship and quickly learned that they are going for a flight simulator style of controls and behavior. If the flying was more intuitive and maybe flew like a futuristic spaceship instead of a greased bowling ball being thrown around by a gorilla with a bungee cord, then i would only be able to focus my disapproval of the mining mechanics.There are 3 ways to mine, you can manually walk around the surface and shoot rocks with your laser, you can set up a machine system to mine them for you slowly over time, and you can fly a spaceship to an asteroid and shoot it with the hand laser. In order to build any sort of structure you have to get a special item called a core, put the core on the ground, then build from the core. you can only build on the core or from other things that you have already built on that core. this means that in order to set up a mining machine you must build it on a platform attached to the core. this would be fine if you did not also have to have the mining machine build on the ground in order to actually mine. after about an hour i figured out that you have to build a flat platform on the ground that's attached to the core, then put the mining machine on the platform and then delete the platform. This ass backwards way of setting up something as simple as a mining machine was so comically poor thought out i found myself wondering how absurd the end game manufacturing would be. The community within the game were spat out straight from high security space in EVE Online and behave as you would expect; meaning the help chat should be tagged with a message saying, "google it," or, "your beard must be THIS long before asking questions."Just before i completely gave up on the game i thought that maybe the flying is so terrible because im flying on a planet and that it would be better in space. Surely i wont have to try and land my spaceship on a tiny ass platform hovering in the air by flying around it like a moth trying to catch a light bulb. It was decided, i hopped on a flight tutorial for space and set out to master space travel and hopefully never set foot on a planet again. three hours later i gave up trying to float back to my spaceship that i jumped out of to avoid smashing into the green dot building at the speed of mach newb. there was zero improvement with the space flight compared to the atmospheric flight, accept maybe it could have been considered worse as you were not gifted the possibility of inevitable death by crashing into the poorly rendered ground.I can see how this game could be attractive to some people in its own quaint and quirky way, but i can also understand the philosophy of, "nothing matters and we're all going to die" called Nihilism.Over all i would give the game a solid three out of 10

I played some on beta and now on normal. The money grind in this game is enormous. You can make and do some of the basics of the game with out having spend days farming and selling to make to smallest amount of progression, but in the end you will spend a massive amount of time farming game currency just to make a very small amount of progression.
The game is unplayable unless you have 12 hours a day to spend grinding fake money.
