This is my first digimon story game and I have to say I really like the combat/team building aspect. I've spent so much time experimenting with different evolutions, personalities, abilities etc. it is just the better version of pokemon battles. The graphic style is incredible there are several areas in the game that are gorgeous. Unfortunately the story is a bit of a mess and the voice acting is missing in some cutscenes the dialogue is often times super anime/cringe. "I am gonna protect you" etc. I wish we had free traversal in game, you can for example fly with your digimon or jump/glide.

Look, it's a very fun (playstyle-wise) jrpg with a basic but fun-enough story. The world is enjoyable and the artwork for the myth sections is cool to watch.

Cons:
Toxic DLC structure that disallows for basic Digimon to be gotten unless you preordered the game and paid for the DLC that was 100% ready at launch and offers nothing that the primary game did not offer already story-wise.

For 99% of the game and story you will have characters and Digimon that you cannot control, edit, or get rid of. I don't actually like aegiomon that much. Large sections of the main story? I get it, fine. Just let me turn them off or something. These characters are also, normally, kinda powerful. It's kind of a bummer when all I have to do to win a fight is not let my digimon die too quickly.

Some of the models are beautiful and the work is obvious; they showed us most of those good models in the trailer. There are common and basic mistakes in a *lot* of the Digimon character models. Your Bearmon (specifically) will *always* have its mouth open. He's always surprised by capitalist greed, I'd say. A lot of models don't have the attention to detail others do, like fur, feathers, etc. just not being added in spite of it literally bein' a dog.

No multiplayer. Missed chance.

Is a good game, better in few aspect compared to cyber sleuth.The grind is way easier and the encounters can be avoided.Early on will be a struggle since you will lack money and digimons to use but after a while you will have a lot of then to evolve and back.The story is a more serious also, like a few moments i few a bit bad for the digimons (i only feel that on the College mission on cyber sleuth,it happen more that once here).The farm is a downgrade for me, you cannot digivolve there and that for me is a problem.Play on EASY OR NORMAL because the bosses are really tanky and a sponge of damage a few times.No dlc here way overprice for a few digimons.

Hacker Memory ending still hits harder than this one.

基础版！在降价前一周入的298/(ㄒoㄒ)/~~
目前跟着剧情刷完支线刚刚解锁到究极体。对游戏的养宠系统很满意，能清晰体会到从一群杂鱼慢慢培养成精英再到小boss的过程。战斗方面，存在克制关系，技能动画各具特色各有配音，战斗能调倍速养成练级过程也不算枯燥，还有一些小游戏能送宠送资源。个人对于剧情也能接受，我时不时跳过，也能知道故事大概的程度。
整体评价是值得一试！

+DLC로 파밍던전 파는 건 무슨 포켓몬스터에서 키우미 집을 DLC로 파는 거 같은 기분임 (본인은 삼)
이렇듯 DLC가 거의 반 강제적이니 (다회차 기준) 아직 안사고 나 디지몬 잘 모르는데 맛만볼까? < 이거는 사이버 슬루스가 오래돼서 할인도 더 잘하니 사이버슬루스 추천 [근데 그래픽차이가 좀 나서 이질감 들면 그냥 이거 해도 됨]

사이버 슬루스는 했는데 본인이 디지몬에 그렇게 진심은 아니다 하면 시간 지나고 던전이나 각종 DLC 묶어서 할인할때 사시는 거 추천드립니다.

어차피 디지몬에 진심이신분은 이런 리뷰 보기전에 현실에서 본인 디지바이스 하나씩 쟁여두고 이미 게임샀음(필자)

게임성은 JRPG가 그렇듯 그냥 하던 맛같음 (주관적)
디지몬팬이 아니더라도 본인이 JRPG를 좀 좋아한다 < 하면 할인 좀 많이 할 때 찍먹 정도는 나쁘지 않은 듯

I have enjoyed my experience so far! I have played a good amount of the previous installment (Cyber Sleuth, though I haven't gotten to Hacker's Memory, and I gave an in-depth review of that game (gave a positive review despite many issues, mostly with the port.), and here I will also discuss some major changes between games at the end.)

My thoughts (+ means pro, - means con, +- means mixed/ up to preference):

Gameplay:
+You can level your team and box at the same time, which is much more important than xp share for Pokemon because a lot of the game involves digivolving into different digimon through branch evolutions and then dedigivolving them into lower generations (like stages in Pokemon)
+The digivolving conditions are achievable in different ways, and best methods depend on multiple factors, like the digimon's current personality vs. the base personality of the next generation (stage), the stats of the digimon, and investment in the skill trees.
+Continuing on the last point, training at the digifarm is well-done, allowing for precise gains, for attempts at new skills, and changing personality for each individual digimon. This becomes better throughout the game, as well in multiple ways that I will not spoil (not really story spoiler but still).
-The scan system: encountering/defeating (I forget which (the last installment just required encountering, but now digimon show up in the overworld so maybe not anymore)) a digimon gives some scan rate for that digimon depending on the digimon and its generation. While you only NEED 100% scan, you get some benefits for scanning more, up to 200%. This isn't great because it encourages grinding in one area for so long that your team naturally becomes overleveled. You could replace your party with different, lower leveled and less-trained digimon, but that can be a pain to find a balanced team in your box.
+Different areas have different digimon, and the attributes (vaccine, data, virus) are not all evenly distributed. As such, you can tailor your team or at least your front loadout to the enemy digimon.

Story/progression through story (have not finished):
+Cutscenes throughout the entire game, keeping you engaged in the story.
+Reveals/plot twists keep coming throughout the story
+-There is a part in the story that tells its arcs in a similar pattern, but it doing so in the way that it does makes sense for the story and the thematic method of the storytelling.
-You can get locked out of sidequests if you don't do them right away (not sure if permanently inaccessible yet, but have progressed multiple chapters without a second chance to do one, preventing me from getting the player xp (anomoly points) only accessible through main quests/sidequests, and you get significantly more from sidequests). This also would make the game balancing difficult, because the developers couldn't count on the players having a certain generation at a certain point in progression.
-Tailoring teams for bossfights or just running it back can be tough, since information on elemental interactions isn't preserved between attempts, so you just have to remember every interaction for each part in each phase or write it down. However, due to the scanning feature, you tend to be a bit overleveled at some point.
+Loading times are super fast, including for cutscenes, seamless, even with my old laptop including when it, at some point, had its graphics card stop working, it still loaded fast (though my laptop did work hard for it lol).

Differences from Cyber Sleuth:
+Switching no longer takes that digimon's turn
+Finding element weaknesses (wind, earth, etc.) is quite fun
+-Replacing ABI with Talent, which isn't often used for digivolution, and only increases max level, making dedigivolving and redigivolving less productive. ABI would be a requirement for digivolution and could be raised by digivolution, but even more by dedigivolution, but it also determined how much each stat could be raised by training. I understand why they made this change, they didn't personality training to ruin stat training, but de-digivolving is much less rewarding now, leaving it to be a preference thing, since they could have had stat inhibitors like in the last installment.
+-Replacing Memory Chips with Anomaly level. In Cyber Sleuth, each digimon had a memory cost that was somewhat consistent between generations, with differences from strength. This stopped you from proceeding with too strong of a team too early. Similarly, anomaly level seeks to achieve the same thing, but instead of soft capping, it hard caps digivolution by making anomaly level a digivolution requirement. Since you gain level throughout the story (mostly through sidequests), it achieves something similar, and does provide an occasional rewarding rennaissance of new digimon.
+Training, as mentioned before, is actually good. You don't need to increase the same stat of every digimon in your farm, and there's also no limit to the stat increases, so you don't need to worry about ruining your digimon's development by personality training.
+As mentioned before, cutscenes show throughout the game, not just the beginning and end.
+If I recall correctly, the dialogue log has been greatly improved over Cyber Sleuth. You can access it at any time, not just during the relevant cutscene, and it only resets the log whenever you leave and reopen the game.
+Autosave is well done, but don't rely on it and leave the game without saving if you are in the middle of grinding an area without loading a new area first. Autosave works just before bossfights and whenever loading a different area.
+-Grinding digimon: Now that digimon appear in the overworld, you can't force encounters like in Cyber Sleuth, so grinding is slower, but if you just want to fight a specific few digimon for some reason, that's much easier.

I'm not the type to write reviews but after finishing the last fight, I felt a extreme duty to write one. This game is just peak. A true successor to Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory. The game comes close or even surpassing both which surprises me. It reminded me of how good and complete games used to be. A well-written main story. Good music. Memorable characters. Sure, some puzzles were annoying in the sense that they just killed the momentum of the game, however, all the good aspects overshadow the bad ones by far. Is it worth paying full price? I would happily pay them twice for such beautiful game. It was made with love and that's what it deserves.

I couldn't finish the game, I got bored and tired of it due to certain decisions which with the current state of gaming nowadays I do not understand.
In fact I fell for the "try the demo and if you liked it buy it" but honestly certain maps, movements and sections of the UI are so stupid.

Combat and Digimon count is great, story is paced as any other JRPG.
What made it tedious is certain decisions in the design:

- Main one is: why so many unnecessary transitions between spaces?
[spoiler] Stupid submarine Digimon to travel a small corridor or, paying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tax with palmon to move you around trees or, the map where I left the game, stupid gekomon where you have to hear a stupid joke between every small space on the map [/spoiler]

Other joys are:
- Why can't I feed my Digimon outside the farm? Why feeding them one by one item?
[spoiler] And the stupid transitions to access the Digifarm, CAN IT BE MORE SLOW? [/spoiler]

- Why is it so bad explained concepts like Talent or Bond?

I understand people who liked it, it has great things but literally felt tedious to finish and I've left it half way just thinking "and now let's explore ANOTHER map in an absurd slow pace". Other games like Dragon Quest are also turn based and have enemies "free in the map" and do not do half the annoyingness this one does.

ストーリー＆サブクエのみクリアした感想

デジモンの据置ゲームはほぼ初めて(ワンダースワンはやった)
アニメは初代、02、テイマーズをみた
難易度はハード

全体としては楽しめました！60時間ほどやって後悔はありません。
面白かった？と聞かれれば面白かった！と答えられます。
ただおすすめするかといわれると、育成好きのゲーマーにはおすすめし
RPG好きにはおすすめしません。
これが私の感想です。

以下、細かい感想になります。

①全体的な感想
・RPGとして楽しむのか育成ゲームとして楽しむのかで評価が変わると思う
　全体的な満足度としては　3.25/5点　
　理由　RPGとして楽しむなら　2.5～3/5点
　　　　→設定や起承転結はしっかりしており、楽しめないほどではないです
　　　　　ただ、シナリオプロットに最低限の肉付けしかしておらず、シナリオがとにかく薄い
　　　　　しっかり作れば2倍のプレイ時間はかかったとは思いますが、せっかくなら設定や
　　　　　伏線を生かしたストーリーやゲームシステムにして遊びたかったです。
　　　　育成ゲームとして楽しむなら　3.5～4/5点
　　　　→とにかくデジモン一体一体がしっかり作りこまれている
　　　　　固有技には固有モーションがあり、愛着を持って作られたのだと思う
　　　　　次は何に進化するのかな、今のパラメータがこれだからこのように育成しようなど
　　　　　楽しめました。DLCは未購入ですが、レベリングもさほど苦にはなりませんでした。
　　　　　満点ではない理由はシステム面です。

②システム面
・スキルに関して
　スキルシステム全体に関しては、一部の問題を除き問題ないと思う。
　ストーリーが進行するにあたって、やれることが増えるオーソドックスなシステム
　私が気になった点は下記になります
　(1)ポイントの配分が明らかにおかしい。
　　シナリオの開始時から最終章一つ前までで全体の半分のポイントが入手可能。
　残りの半分は最終章の一つ前から入手可能になります。
　このシステムのせいで育成の自由度がかなり制限されています。
　　おそらく過剰戦力にならないようにという配慮だとは思うのですが、
　　育成がしたい人からするとないほうがありがたい
　(2)振り直しができない
　　これは私がしっかり見て考えていなかったことも原因なのですが、
　　最初のうちに適当にスキルツリーを進めたせいで気づいたときには取り返しが付かず
　　中盤少し苦戦しました。ただ、これはゲーム性的にも実装しずらい点があるのも事実
・デジファーム
　おそらく有用なんでしょうが、アクセスが悪すぎて使わなかった

③戦闘システム
　個人的にはこの敵の弱点属性などを調べながら戦っていく系は好きなのでよかった
　ただ気になった点もあった。
　(1)汎用デバフ
　　バフは機能していたがデバフはボス戦では機能してないように感じた。

ロストエボリューション(約15年)ぶりにデジモンのゲームを遊びました。
ゲームとしてデジモンに触れる機会は少なかったものの、アニメシリーズもしっかり見てたくらいデジモンシリーズは大好きです。
15年前はドットの立ち絵でコマ送り程度にしか動かなかったデジモンたちがフル3DCG、モデリングも約500体近くしっかり作ってくれていること、そして何より東京に懐かしいデジモンたちがいっぱいいる光景に思わず涙を流したほどです。

初めて「いいえ」を押すことになった一番の理由が、RPGなのに主人公が空気すぎること。これに尽きる。
何故アイギオモンとしてプレイさせてくれなかったのか。こいつはこいつでイノリイノリイノリうるせーし。
…とまあ、私の性格がひねくれていることを差し引きしても、ストーリーラインは最悪でした。ひねくれレベルの参考として、私は君の名は。アンチです。
このゲーム、変にデジモン「ストーリー」を名乗らずに、ポケモンスナップみたいに写真を撮って楽しむゲームでよかったのでは？レーティングがちゃんとあるんだし、PS向けに開発したなら購買層考えて、もっと大人向けに特化した内容にしてほしかったし、中途半端に全世代に受け入れられるようなシナリオになっているせいで全然納得できないです。
クリア後も遅延行為散々してきた相手との場面に差し戻されてたし…。後味悪すぎる。

次回作では俯瞰でデジモンと人間の友情を見せつけられるんじゃなくて、自分が育成したデジモンとの絆を感じさせるものにしてください。少なくともロストエボリューションはちゃんとデジモンストーリーでした。
ですが、ベルゼブモンと2ケツできる上に必要のないバイクのモデリングまでこき下ろして、エンジン音のSE用意した周到さにはスタンディングオベーションです。

So far I will say this game is AMAMZING! This is EXACTLY how I've wanted a Digimon game to be since the first one I played back on PS1. The battle mechanics are great. The Digivolution charts and ways to Digivolve are great. I cant find anything I don't like about this game. Great job guys. I highly recommend buying this game, whether at full price or sale price its WELL worth it.

Digimon is back, baby! The only complaints I can think of are some nitpicks here and there having played the old Story games, but if you want an honestly good and fun monster collecting game, you can't go wrong here. It might not be a match for heavier hitting JRPG's like Metaphor Refantazio for example, but it's honestly fun with a decent story, and definitely out performs you-know-who

8/10 very cool story with fun gameplay

the good:
- reversal mechanic where you can reverse what you and your enemies are weak/strong to
- you can speed up gameplay by 5x and automate it, making grinding much easier
- fully recovers your health and mana if you just stand still for 5 seconds
- unique skills with unique animations for every digimon
- using items & swapping party members does not take your turn to attack/use a skill/guard
- interesting jrpg story where you slowly build up to fight god
- runs with no problem on high settings
- alot of baddies in this game

the bad
- interacting with somethings dismount you from your digimon ride
- (for controllers) running is bind to a face button instead of a trigger/shoulder button making it hard to move the camera
- as a first time digimon player, its super annoying to have my specifically built digimon evolve and have stats that are not suited for their previous purpose (e.g. healers evolve into attackers with low spi)

Steam need to add a mixed tbh. Just gonna put here to tell people like me, someone whos just bored and looking for some nostalgia hit - either don't or wait for sale.

I grew up watching digimon, never really played any games. Saw this game was highly rated and got it. Story is really meh, writing is ... it's a digimon jrpg lol. Combat is decent for the turn-based classic jrpg style. System I can understand why some people enjoy it. I did really have fun in the beginning, but the fun ran out for me personally before the game ended. I'm at the [spoilers]cosmic place with elevators[/spoilers]. Maybe I'll finish it one day ... idk

Again, mixed review:
- If you are a big digimon fan get it I suppose. I can understand how people really like it
- If you are someone like me whos just bored and looking for some nostalgia hit - either don't or wait for sale.

This is a really great Digimon game; good voice acting during the cutscenes and I like that you can roam certain areas with your partners & talk to them sometimes. Lots of customizing for your character's clothing and even for your team's attacks and equipment. The controls are easy enough to understand also and the story makes you want to keep playing to find out more. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys Digimon & I think its one of the best Digimon games, actually.

The [spoiler]Vulcanusmon[/spoiler] boss fight is messed the hell up, other than incredibly unfair seeming bosses this game is fantastic and is way better than any modern Pokemon game I've played. Plus it's also actually quite challenging, sort of reminds me of some SMT games.

Although I have one actual problem with the game, it does feel like it doesn't explain itself to players, it feels like the game just expects you to know everything about how Digimon games work. That left me at least who is playing this as their first Digimon game utterly lost at a few points because the game just didn't explain mechanics to me well enough, I just had to guess based on prior experience with similar games.

It's been a while since I played this and I still need to finish this game, that said it's a pretty fun game and runs alright.

negatives: it feels very much made for controller, you don't even have sensitivity options for the mice while the default puts it really damn low.
I've had way too many missions with the voice lines bugging out just not playing which is pretty frustrating.

that being said I still did enjoy my time with the game and will come back to finish it another time

Wowww, a Decent Digimon game actually worth buying?
I'd never thought I'd live to see the day but here we are.
I really wish they'd drop this "Data Squad" angle they keep going for.
The reason this game is actually worth recommending is because it separates itself from that stupid grunt thing they have done since the PS1. It's still there, don't get me wrong, but it's an acceptable level.
What is there, in that regards, still pretty annoying.
That lady who listens to everything the character does is genuinely annoying.
She's not a good plot device or character and her role doesn't make sense.
The whole "Having a constant and consistent call to several years in the past" thing doesn't make any sense and just gets glossed over. She serves no real purpose especially when the alternative is literally just a text box that explains the thing, WHICH IS THERE ANYWAYS.
It's bad character design and the structure of it is flimsy at best, which subtracts from the entire piece.

Listen, Digimon Developers and fans,
The charm of the show was that these regular kids were destined to meet and form a gang, given these mysterious companions and tasked with stopping a big bad. That's what Destiny is.
Almost every series has this subtext and that's the thing that every game was missing.
Every game has removed Destiny from the equation and this game is a good example of that spark still existing.

The phone lady is the enemy they keep hanging onto.
Luckily, she is sparse and more boiled down to pointing you in a direction than anything of any real plot based value.

Gameplay is fun. It's engaging.
It's very true to typical JRPG battles, even more so than previous games.
It does a good job at balancing types and giving that sort of Pokemon comfortability to their own spin.

I thought I would hate the "Catching" system, but actually, I don't.
Works pretty well. Leveling is a little slow and I wish there was more of a tell of what the digimon's type would be when digivolving. It's pretty various and forming some sort of strategy involves using some sort of online guide, if you aren't willing to just evolve and hope you guess right or devolve lol.

The story is good. Characters have depth and are mostly likeable, The plot is something I would call a "Subconscious" plotline; It has an overarching story, but it drip feeds you it as you become interested in these other characters and their problems. It's really good at this and the story director deserves a raise.
It drops you off in the past and all you know is stuff happens eventually. You kind of have an "Office to report to" but it's defined very loosely and more of a happenstance situation.

The best part I think,
The Digi-vice is a Flip Phone that projects a Hologram and turns into a Gun.
Coolest thing I ever saw. Kid me would be shellshocked for sure.

Does this game have it's problems?
Absolutely,
Overly Spongey battles and pushing their DLCs in the dumbest spots are two off the top of my head.
"The Mystery Elevator opened! Better go check it out!" Then you get there and it's an ad for their DLCs lmao "Take this elevator to get to this wacky adventure" Why?
The Farm system is also super disappointing. Might as well just have been a "Monster Rancher" styled training menu honestly. Not even worth the type. It's basically just like a slightly better PC system. It's worthless. Also the tutorials are pretty meh. The key is to only give the user the bare essentials in tutorial form and let the user figure it out themselves with hints along the way. This isn't the worst at this, but it could definitely be better. I'm sure there will be more as time goes on. I feel like I'm giving a Digimon game too much benefit of the doubt here.

But from what I can tell, as a Skeptic, It's actually pretty good and a solid investment.
Definitely get it on sale when you can, to justify it more, but it's Good regardless. I just hope Digimon Devs take note as to why this one is better than alllllll their other games.
We want to have Good Digimon Games, you just gotta make em first.

Overall, in terms of what I, and I assume anybody with any Good Sense, want to see in a Digimon game, I would give this a 7/10. In terms of how it is as a game overall, 8/10.

Digimon Story Time Stranger is a weird Game for me to review. Im a huge Digimon fan since my childhood and it might be one of my dearest franchises. That means there is a lot of nostalgia and bias involved.
I think its fair to say, if you are uncertain if you want to get the game, you should look up other reviews as well. I wont spoil anything so don’t worry about that while reading. Ill start of with a regular Review before giving my unfiltered Impression and experience with the game.
Story
Given the name “Digimon Story” youd assume the story is a big part of this game and that’s true. Its not a sequel so you don’t have to have played the other Digimon Story games. This title just tells you, that its that brand of Digimon game (JRPG like with turn based combat) since the Digimon games can be quite different from another. The story itself is good in my opinion with nice set pieces, turns and twists and an emotional core. It features a lot of characters, that actually go through a lot in the span of the story, and they become stronger, Digivolve and learn more about their world and themselves. The writing is mixed, from a somewhat annoying Operator telling u after every conversation “oh this might be connected to X you should investigate”, which is not an joke, he does that a lot especially at the beginning of the game without ever adding anything. Another character, that I like a lot, tends to spam a specific phrase all the time (also more of a Problem of “early” game) so all in all some of the writing feels quite bad and on the nose, it defiantly has the anime -repeat it to make sure everybody understood it- mentality.
Other than that the Story is not aimed at lil babies like some other franchises, it knows the core Audience grew up and it grew with it. Time, trauma, war and the loss of loved ones are themes that are very prevalent in the story. I was really surprised about the fact how much it felt like a “War-Story” in the beginning. People who enjoy JRPGs and Animes will have a enjoyable Story here. I think if you dislike both of those you might bounce off of this Story. Then again the entire Art Style might be already a big red flag for you then.
Gameplay
The combat in this game is Turn based, but instead of having one Digimon on the field, you have a Trio. This also means, that your enemies can be up to three Digimon at the same Time. This makes AoE and supportive abilities useful and gives you the option to craft a Team with roles in mind. The gameplay feels similar to a Persona game. And you get to explore not 150 Digimon, no, the Developers treated us to 450 different Digimon. Granted as is normal in the Digiworld, some of those are “reskins” Garurumon and BlackGarurumon for example. Every Digimon has a unique animated attack (some get two or even more) and slots for regular skills. Those skills are attainable through level ups and via Discs.
You play as an Agent and have a multifunctional device which is a phone, Digivice and obviously a Gun. The Gun part is important for your Agents cross Art that u can unleash. Those range from buffs, to revives, to straight up shooting your enemies (which is never not hilarious). Also you get a skill tree to skill up your Agent which in turns gives u either better Cross Arts or just buffs your Digimon, makes the requirements for Digivolutions easier etc.
The Digi-Farm… imagine you heard me sigh with that statement. It’s a headscratcher how they got so much QoL improvements but the Farm is still obnoxious to use. The major problem is, you cant see the Requirements for Digivolutons when u check your Digimon on the farm which leads to a lot of repetition, train – check stats-train etc.
Difficulty. At the beginning you choose your Difficulty: Story, Normal, Hard.
You can change those at any point so don’t worry too much about it. I didn’t try out the other difficulties but id assume its primarily the enemy stats that are affected. When you play through the game you get access to two new options Mega and Mega+. The latter has Digimon in the starting areas that would blast the final boss of the game on normal difficulty since they come with maxed out stats. You get to take your team with you into a NG+ though, so if you want to challenge your Team even further this is your chance. The fine tuning was awful in the prequels but in this game I thought that hard felt really good although you have to have a tolerance for spongy bosses. I really enjoyed the Attack animations though which made combat in general a blast for me. Speaking of which..
Presentation
The budget is bigger than it was for the previous titles, by a lot id assume, since the new animations kick ass. You get some boring ones sure, you get over 500 unique Animations so some will end up less exciting or well executed. But a lot of them are just a joy to look at. You can at any time just flick your right stick up to increase the speed of combat if your are just grinding or you need to get it done quicker. This can be done up to a speed of x5 (if I recall correctly) at which point unique animation aren’t played. The graphics of the game wont wow you if you play modern Triple A games but I think it looks great, I love the vibrant colors, the cel shading and especially lighting looks great. The biggest let down for me was the music. I Dunno why they cooked in every department but then gave you really generic music. There are like 4-5 Songs maybe, that are really enjoyable but most of it is insanely unforgettable. The sequels had better music than that for sure and its kind of a bummer since music in Games just elevates them a lot in my opinion.

My personal impressions.
Welp, I enjoyed the game a lot. Like I couldn’t stop playing. As a fan of the franchise for so long, seeing the resurrection of it and finally actually getting a game with a decent budget felt awesome. My Girlfriend lacks the nostalgia for Digimon but even she sat down next to me when I first reached the city in the Digiworld. We sat there for 30 minutes or more, ran around the town, looked at al the references, where which mons hung around etc. She even got close to buying it (she hates turn based combat) just to make a team full of cute Digimon. I played through it real quick and I spend a lot of money on the game but I did not regret a single cent. It hit me in the nostalgia in a way I haven’t been hit ever in my life. It does feel like a labour of love to me, it definitely bites more than it can chew at times but you can feel that the developers just thought “this would be so cool” and even if its not refined they tried to build it in, like for example the digi riding thing. Those animations can be silly and undercooked but it feels like they come from a place of sincerity.
MEGA +
I recently played through all the DLC and the Mega+ difficulty and I thought id not enjoy it, since I think having the mon digivolve etc is a big part and for my mega+ run I had to grind out a lvl 99 team and start the game with them and stick with it from start to finish. I still enjoyed it and I had fun exploring the combat system some more, felt like I learned stuff I wasn’t aware of and I really loved to have a real team, like supports, a Tank, designated dps etc. they just announced a new major DLC in 2027, the 3 DLC they released so far are rather disappointing because they are very samey but at least they gave us new Digimon. I will put the game away for a year or two, but im already excited to start another playthrough in a couple of years. As I said in the beginning, take my review with a unhealthy amount of salt, im very biased.
