I have since moved away from this game years back after learning about its VERY predatory business practices in the online store, as well as the insane bottling issue. The online store mainly consists of Loot boxes with absolutely abysmal chances of getting anything worthwhile, ridiculously high prices, you name it. By making the game free to play, the devs had to implement a microtransaction system that is equally if not more predatory than even EA.
As for the bots, yeah… they don’t seem to be doing much about the issue. This is the main reason I had abandoned the game. These bots sit around and camp at popular grinding and quest spots, making it near impossible to progress through quests or even level your tamer and Digimon. Sure the devs do eventually ban bots in waves and implement ways to work around the problem, but what they’re doing is not enough to keep me playing.
I recommend you stay away from this game, unless you really want to get ripped off potentially hundreds of dollars just by purchasing worthless loot boxes and attempt to combat the bots. Play Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth instead.

Its not a half bad Digimon MMORPG. I recently recieved and error message though so cant login to the servers anymore for no reason at all. T_T thats lame. It was pretty fun whilst i got to play. n.n
I genuinely enjoy digimon; reason why i tried this game out. Upon returning to my account after the first day, I find that I am unable to log in. I hop on their site to send in a report to find out that they banned me. They never explained what I was banned for and in the reply message they sent me; stated that they wouldn't assist me any further after that message. Idk take your chance if you want but as far as I'm concerned, this game isn't worth playing when there's a looming risk that you can get banned for nothing.

Nostalgia and has a great community
I finally decided to play this game. After seeing the reviews I decided, "I'll just try it out I come from Ragnarok online it cant be THAT bad".
And the game actually wasn't that bad. I mean its a grind fest for sure but, it's fun. I played for 13 hours. Didn't party anyone. Ran group content solo. Got ksd by macro users and botters. But i'm used to that.
What is making me give a negative score is that the server went down for maintanence, and not im banned? LOL Turns out a bunch of people got banned post maintanence who use steam. Thats a big problem.
No gm responded to me. Couldnt even make an account on their site because the text fields are literally inaccessible using Opera, Brave, Chrome and even edge!
So unreasonable out of no where ban. Zero recourse options. Gms non replies.

If you enjoy digimon this is a game for you. The population is fine imo and while there are bots there are systems that deal with them. Such as a removal from the digital world if you don't complete quests over a period of time and players can use macro checkers on other players that will force them to answer a prompt with punishment if they don't.
The digimon part of the game is fantastic and while it is grindy, the grind is made worth it. The game rewards you enough to where you want to continue the grind on another digimon after finishing one. If you make your goal to collect digimon, especially the meta ones, you could play this game for a long time and enjoy it.

I got banned for hacking, I literally didn't though? Like even if i knew how to hack why would I in this game? What's to gain? You'd just end up skipping the game. It's a shame cause I was actually enjoying it for the whole 3 hours I was actually allowed to play. Worse of all I hear people who get false flagged and reached out to support is just met with auto messages. It's sad as it has a lot of my fav digimon who aren't really in any other games-

Alright, let me hold y'alls hands when I say this... I would not recommend this game. It's literally everything that could be bad. Bot lobbies, cash grabs, and extremely low item chance. I kinda enjoy it (hence my 1k hours), but I wouldn't recommend to anyone.
So like.... I like this game, quite a bit. Though honestly due to the overcomplicated nature of literally every mechanic. Basically no real guided to actually playing the game. (the wiki also seems outdated) And the fact that at 40 hours im only halfway to getting to the good part. I really don't think its for most people. If you REALLY like digimon and understand that old mmos have a lot of weird baggage then you may enjoy it! Just be wary.
Promised remastered version, never happened. Many bugs never fixed but instead they remove the one fun mechanic from most digimons (Advanced Skill Breaks). Lots of potential but the company just doesn't care much for it as they have "Digimon Super Rumble" to work on instead, even though that's just a glorified mobile gatcha game. Also heavily monetized, every patch they release is for them to make some fast cash, never actually improving the game outside of some minor feature updates.

I was falsely accused of using a Macro Program (didn't know what that is until this situation took place) and have been banned from the game. I have never used any third party systems and I have no interest in them. I ONLY play games the way they are meant to be played. No mods, nothing. I download the game from Steam and I play. That's it.
Contacting customer support proved useless. My understanding is that you try to contact them and it has an automation system respond. The response I got says they're "unable to provide the answer you were hoping for." If they can't fix their mistake, their games are not worth playing.
I used to have a lot of fun playing this game and it's unfortunate to be met with this unsatisfactory "customer service." I will no longer be playing this game and I strongly discourage everyone from playing GAMEKING games.

I would love to say that I will not be playing this game any longer. I have always had a love for digimon and what I have gotten to play of this game is ok and sorta fun but when they allow players to cheat on a level to where you can not get any grind in, it kinda defeats the purpose. You have individuals running around at mach speed and killing all wild digimon in an area over and over and no actual human player can react that quickly. So do not waste your time or money and just wait for a better game to come out.

Do not play this, the translation is awful, the story rushes you through so much as to be nonsensical, and getting new digimon is either a monumental slog of a grind (with the result depending on RNG), or a matter of pouring in real money for the gods of gacha. There are plenty of better Digimon games available on Steam, please, just buy one of those instead, I promise it will be better than this because you deserve a better game than this.

Only recommend this cuz the game is a GEM, the current devs tho? not so much, milking the crap out of this game although its already squeezed dry. Content wise the world is sooo wide, so many things to do, so many digimons. If the monetization wasnt so crap I wouldve played atleast twice as much or more.
DMO is a P2W MMO game that opens up to players above Player Level 130+ and Digimon Level 140+. Players and Digimon below these levels will miss on more than half of the game's content (dungeons, events, etc.). To make it worse, both items and server-wide events are also locked behind levels. Grinding through the story is a constant war between bots and high player levels that move more quickly than you. DMO is not made for the casual players in mind. Even new players will become frustrated for a lack of instructions and for not being able to unlock evolution items.

GAme is buggy as hell. Every few minutes somethings loading and it freezes often. There's no clear direction for some things and it's clear this is a pay 2 win game.

Was a great game but riddled with bots and they can't even be reported. Can't even play the game anymore... don't waste your time. The whole story is diluted now with the new leveling system. You get boosted to level 50 almost instantly and more than half the areas are pointless now. Very unfortunate
Why did I play this game? Nostalgia mainly. I watched the animes, played the DS games. I like the designs, the characters, and the story. I love the franchise. This game does not share that love.

Credit where credit is due, over the years this game has been active, most Digimon are in the game. Along with their own model and attack animations and such so the dream of having your own personal partner is there but the real question of if they are viable for end game content looms. The reality is the higher you go in the rankings (S, S+, SS, SS+, SSS, SSS+, U), the more you can count the viable Digimon with two hands so chances are if your favorite Digimon was Tentomon. Safe to say he will just sit in the archives cause he will never touch Royal Base, Kaiser Domain, Tokyo Tower, Myotismon, ect.
But let's say you’re lucky. One of your favorites is a SSS+ or U rank. Let's say you were really captured by Omegamon Merciful Mode while watching Adventure’s Tri and you really wanted to have him and use it. Ignoring the resources needed to get both Agumon and Gabumon at 5/5 when hatched, and later getting them to 6/5, and completely refining them out to max and you have Omegamon currently, the only way to get Merciful Mode is to try your luck at a 0.05% at ~$3,600 pity summoning system. The time frame for such an endeavor? At F2P Endgame, a year maximum. Starting out on a new account without a Jumping Event to boost you? A pipe dream.
But funny enough, you can go through all this hassle and finally have Omegamon MM and it’s damage could be terrible due to the fact your damage isn’t just the raw stats of the Digimon. There is deck bonus (Determined by what digimon you hatched before) Seals, (Basically records the proof of victory) Artifacts, Clothing, Costume, Goggles, Digivice, whether or not you have a ID or Tamer Key or not. All these things matter so you can either open your real life wallet, open your in game wallet or grind out your time getting the resources needed.
[h2] The Story [/h2]
Nonexistent. For Yokohama Village > Western Area > Glacier Area > File Island, you are a Dats agent that basically gets sent there to solve whatever overarching problem is ruining that place. However, from Tokyo-Odaiba > Spiral Mountain. You’re not referred to, referenced, talked to or at once. Just a silent ghost says you watch Digimon Adventures episode 25 to 54 happen in front of your eyes. Just not animated, voice acted and stiff character models that stand either in a semi circle or a circle while you finish your quest. Shinjuku questline changes in that regard where you are an ‘active’ part of the story following Digimon Tamers, as in predetermined lines talking to predetermined lines but credit where credit is due.
[h2] The Game [/h2]
Oldish graphic but no one was playing for the graphics. Endless loading screens, getting kicked out of dungeons and the ever present bot situations is what litter this game. Granted, everything else but the bots are rare. Reporting them does nothing, there is a micro checker in the game but that too is useless. Funny enough, the bots figured out how to get bots to micro check other bots so they can avoid getting questioned again.
[h2] The Company [/h2]
If you pay, they tolerate you. If you’re F2P, they hate you. I haven’t seen a company so blatantly predatory and actively take steps to take away from the playerbase. As of the June-10-2025 update, GK straight up removed ‘Omegamon: Chance of Evolution’ from everyone’s account. The craftable way of getting Omegamon X, the F2P digimon for endgame content. Everyone’s old Arena tickets are useless now in favor of the new one but fundamentally, nothing has changed. Ever wanted to have Omegamon Alter-B, Agumon: Bond of Friendship or Ordinemon? Can’t. They lost the copyright and they got discontinued. At least Ordinemon has a version available in the game in the form of Ordinemon (Awakened). How do you get it? Lootbox (and buying the Meicoomon digiegg cause you can’t get it anywhere else.

I love Digimon, you love Digimon. You love your time here on Earth and you certainly love your money. Don’t spend any of it here. There are so much more better digimon games out there to fix your crave. And Time Stranger is coming out this year so that’s a plus. If you read this far, have a wonderful day.

I would like to start off with a few good things.
Digimon Masters scratches the Digimon itch and is one of three MMOs on the market that does so. The other games in question are also made by Move. Even with this game's age, the stylized graphics hold up and the sound is memorable. There are options to simplify models of other players, their digimon, and their shops. With as large or flashy some are, this makes seeing the game easier. Some of the mechanics appear novel, fun to play with, and I hope they can expound upon them in the future.
Now, the criticism...
There is little coherency in this game and progression is baffling to say the least. Following the tutorial, you will be forcibly boosted to high levels, loaded with items that have little or no explanation, and pushed into a collection of maps with almost no direction all in a matter of five minutes.
The choice of partner digimon you make is fairly pointless as you will also be given a half-dozen other partners as well as evolution items for the beginning and end stages, but not the middle. You will be asked to target enemies that appear to be much stronger, but fall to a few hits while later, enemies that show up as easy might actually be more difficult and therefore teaching you that you cannot trust the information display. The appearances in the creation menu are just previews of outfits that can be rented from the cash shop. That also doesn't matter because among the items you are loaded down with are an assortment of unrelated costume pieces to give you a taste of what you can find in the shop.
A player's inventory starts with twenty or thirty slots, but immediately explodes to over a hundred you must individually unlock via stacks of expansion items you receive in boxes that must be opened at each level. Because the inventory can become cluttered very easily, you can hit an auto-sort button once every few seconds. There are even a few tabs that categorize your total inventory into themes such as consumables or partner-based items. With the categories being so broad, however, you still need to hunt and pick through massive lists.
The story is a mashup of the different Digimon anime series, however it seems to be entirely random what kind of scene you will be doing as there are no critical storyline or, if there is, it is overlapped with several other chapters and not gated through current progression. The context jumps wildly to the point of making no sense, and the dialog's translation does no favors to help understand what is going on.
The regular gameplay is rather tedious, seeming to focus on farming for drops that are then turned in for a random chance at loot, adding extra steps in that some drops are turned in for currency and other drops cost currency to be opened up. Add this with quests often tasking you to simply grind the digimon that are within targeting distance of the quest-giver or to find an NPC often in the same kind of range, and dialogue giving no direction. You will constantly refer to your map and click linked names in your quest log to find out where to go next and just hope you'll be immediately given a new quest when you finish.
Other miscellaneous gripes include:
-Cutscenes can be blacked out so you can only hear audio.
-The server alerts for other players somewhere far-off in the game getting rare items being so constant as it should be a dedicated feed.
-Said server alerts covering up the dialog boxes needed to go through quests.
-The design of the early game changes rather often, getting shorter, less informative, and more overwhelming each time.
-Every aspect of Digimon Masters seems to point back towards the cash shop and is balanced so that once you run out of the massive stash you get at the beginning, you need to buy something, making this feel less like a game and more like an advertisement.

and if you are going to play this game i suggest not getting it on steam and making an account with their standalone launcher on gameking. The game on steam is severely limited shop wise due to people previously abusing steams refund policy
Actual circus of a company that claims to care about their player-base, yet they get rid of any F2P options whatsoever. Botters are rampant and never get punished. The GMs & CMs are corrupt whilst having a God Complex to the point where they will ban you just because they feel like it. The Gacha Pity is literally thousands of dollars for a boring re-skin since they keep losing any rights for unique Digimon. New players don't have a chance at progressing to mid-game, and end-game players are getting screwed over despite botting/spending for everything.
GameKing, you're a joke and so is all of your staff. The only reason why this trash still exists is because you have whales who are too nostalgic with no other multiplayer Digimon game to go to. Most of your player-base bots to progress in such a ruined economy, and you even screw over your bootlicking whales. You don't even want people to play your own game at this rate. You merely want them to donate money for the hell of it.
You're better off playing a PRIVATE SERVER! At least they'll respect your time and are MUCH more generous and F2P friendly compared to official servers. You won't have to deal with botters and you can actually progress without having to spend. Gameking can't do ♥♥♥♥ about private servers, if they say they can, then they are LYING.

Alright I am a big Digimon fan and although i can see where this game has a lot of good stuff in it... I truthfully had a hard time picking it up and a harder time to get into it.
The game blasted me through a tutorial but didnt make a whole lot of sense (Maybe because it wasnt meant to im not sure.)
You go from lv 1 to almost 50 in an hour which is a helluva motivator to play except you really arent in a story... you just pick up more quests and do them with no goal....
This was my experience anyhow.... and while I could have misclicked or something i dont think i did. Im not a big MMO guy but even i can tell a lot of things are behind a paywall on this game as well which is depressing as I would feel way more inclined to play if if things were more obtainable

Absolutely awful mobile game slop, progression is entirely based around how much money you spend, concept is great, but implication is a disaster and bastardization for digimon fans. Highly recommend Digimon World: Dawn and Dusk or Cyber Sleuth instead. Fan games are also pretty great, with huge market for anyone wanting to make one.
I love the game. Played it years ago ( over 10 ) and have recently came back to it. It really does scratch that Digimon itch. It also gives you a lot of free goodies to start off with ( free SSS Digimon ) which will help put you in a good spot for the main story. Dev's did really well with the designs on Shin tier and above as well.
this game plays a lot slower than most mmos and its based around a lot of grinding for data. Its not so much focused on battling as it seems, its more about collecting the eggs and digivolving your digimon. its one of the best digimon games you'll find and probably one of the only mmos

Coming back to this game after a couple of years, and having been playing it since I was a kid, its sad to see this game fall into just a gacha p2w system. It honestly shocked me that you can't even access your digimons (outside of your starter) mega form without having to spend at a gacha system for a chance at getting the specific mega form item you want. Very sad to see a childhood game of me be reduced to a grindy, p2w slop.
It's quite old, dating back to 2009. The interface and gameplay is very outdated and clunky. It plays very much like a generic Asian MMORPG from the early 2000s.
The game has a fairly generic story. It's poorly translated, filled with grammar mistakes, and they didn't break for words. So a word will carry to the end of the text box and cut off at any character, without a hypen, to continue to the next line.
There's only 2 servers. A full one and a very full one. It leads to a lot of the sub quest not being completable as you'll have say a lv 150 farming or possibly even botting a random low level digimon, one hitting them as soon as they spawn. The game wants you to focus on the main quest line anyway though. And it'll boost you like crazy for doing so. The difficulty for the main quest line is very, very easy because of this.
The areas are standard for this style of mmorpg, very vast and empty, filled with mobs. Quite a lot of npc venders compared to even other game though.
Can't say I recommend it unless you're a Digimon fan. It's even clunkier than say Fusion Fall.
this game is really fun in my opinon, simply because i am a huge digimon fan.
Best Game by far. Many people enjoy and Extended Evolution's are amazing, otherwise I really find Digimon: CyberSleuth and/or Hackers Memory, and Digimon: Next order, more Engaging story and environment. for a masters I was expecting a collaboration of all past games much more savory.
Fun game to play however it does seem to be more of a cash campaign for most of the good digimon
I legitimately only play this as a time waster and after getting INCREDIBLY LUCKY with an expensive Worn Digimental of Miracles on my Veemon cause I'm a F2P player, I just go on and off in the game solely cause my interest in Digimon pops up from time to time even though I got modded Cyber Sleuth for practically all my needs.
I would NOT want someone to join this same torment I rarely put myself through outta boredom
