[h1] Gameplay [/h1] Das Gameplay ist den Drei Vorgängern identisch geblieben. Wir sammeln wieder mal aller Hand Gegenstände & lösen verschiedene Wimmelbildszenen & Minispiele/Rätsel. Die Wimmelbildszenen sind wieder sehr gut gelungen und machen Spaß. Die Minispiele/Rätsel sind auch hier wieder meist total simpel (bis auf das 3 Farben Kugel Spiel, wo man alle Kugeln in die Richtige Reihenfolge bringen muss in einer Kette, ich verabscheue die Dinger). Grafik & Musik sind völlig in Ordnung & das Voice Acting ist mal wieder Genre Typisch eher schwach. Die Deutsche Text Übersetzung ist ordentlich
[h1] Achievement Schwierigkeit 4/10 [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 22 Erfolge. Hierfür muss man das Spiel beenden und dabei keines der Minispiele/Rätsel überspringen und keine Tipps bei den Wimmelbildszenen verwenden. Zudem die üblichen Erfolge wie ein Wimmelbild in unter 1 Minute lösen, 3 Gegenstände in 3 Sekunden finden usw. Es ist das was man schon von anderen Vertretern des Genres her kennt, also nichts wirklich schwieriges. Das einzige was frustrierend werden kann, ist eben das besagte 3 Farben Kugel Minispiel/Rätsel

Die Wimmelbildszenen haben mir wieder sehr gut gefallen und die Minispiele waren ebenfalls völlig OK mit einer Ausnahme. Wer Wimmelbild Adventures mag wird auch dieses hier definitiv mögen

This was a good game
One of the worst HOGs I've ever played (perhaps actually *the* worst), and a huge step down from Demon Hunter 3. This feels very rushed, with lots of bugs, bad art, poor continuity, broken English, and repetitive puzzles. Avoid.
Demon Hunter 4: Riddles of Light continues the long-running hidden-object adventure series with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, mythological storytelling, and polished point-and-click design. This one is kind of in the middle of the four games in the series. The story is good and makes more logical sense than the first two but I stil prefer the erie, spooky ambiance of the third one. However this is a "Demon Hunter" game, so being in ancient Egypt and meeting those gods doesn´t really make sense to be in this series.
the good things are that the graphics are improved, the voice acting is better and the story is compelling.
The bad things are that the mouse is a bit off so sometimes you click on the right object and it doesn´t register, some of the puzzles are copied from the last game and are overall easier and as mentioned before, the story doesn´t make sense to be in this series, you don´t play as Dawn (or whatever the protagonist´s name in previous games was) but as her niece, so I think this should have been a spin-off or a shorter dlc (this game is similar length to the other ones tho).
I recommend it just because I got it for cheap in one of fanatical bundles, wouldn´t recommend it full price. Maybe wait for a big discount.

Ich wollte diesen Teil wirklich mögen. Ich wusste von den durchwachsenen Rezensionen, und man möchte das ja immer nicht so recht glauben, bis man es selbst erlebt. Schade, dass die qualitativen Ansprüche von Artifex als Publisher mit der Zeit oder mit einigen Entwicklern gesunken sind.
Zu Beginn dachte ich, dass das wirklich ganz nett werden kann (und ich habe keine hohen Ansprüche an Spiele, schon gar nicht in diesem Genre). Dann bröckelte es schon etwas, ich war aber überzeugt vom Setting und der Atmosphäre.
In der zweiten Hälfte war es dann endgültig vorbei und ich wollte Demon Hunter 4 nur noch zu Ende bringen. Furchtbar, wie Spiele manchmal einfach nichts Gutes bieten und das Interesse an ihnen dann rapide sinkt.

In diesem Teil geht es darum, dass Dawn, die eigentliche Protagonistin der Reihe, von einem altägyptischen Dämon gefangen wird. Was der eigentlich will, speziell von Dawn, wurde mir nicht klar.
Gespielt wird jedenfalls aus der Sicht ihrer Nichte Lila. Das greift zwar mögliche Familienverhältnisse auf, die am Ende des vorigen Teils angedeutet wurden, bringt aber letztendlich nichts in dieser Richtung.
Die Story ist extrem dünn und passt auf ‘ne Briefmarke. Zudem wird sie von Minute zu Minute uninteressanter.
Was der Reihe generell feht, ist es, die Geschichte übergreifend zu erzählen. Da wäre so viel Potential, in jedem Teil ein paar Informationen mehr hinzuwerfen, die am Ende ein großes Ganzes ergeben.
[h1]Technik[/h1]
DH4 ist von 2018, und man wird auch dementsprechend (gut) bedient. Die Grafiken/Settings sehe ich wirklich als das positive Merkmal dieses Titels. An keiner Stelle kann man da meckern, es sieht alles schick aus.
Die Musik ist typisch ägyptisch, ein wenig repetitiv, aber nicht störend.
[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
Hier kommen wir in den Kritikbereich rein, denn neben der müden Story ist ödes oder unschönes Gameplay ein Spielspaßkiller. Und DH4 schafft beides: erst belangslos, aber dann auch irgendwann nervig.
Ich erkläre jetzt nicht, wie diese Spiele normalerweise ablaufen. DH4 tut es genauso: Inventar, wimmeln, Minispiele. Die Formel dahinter ist also nicht falsch, aber die Stellschrauben sind verzogen.
Während alles in der ersten Hälfte noch sehr seicht daherkommt, werden bestimmte Situationen bald nur noch lästig. Ich zähle mal auf.

[*]Es gibt ein immer wiederkehrendes “Reaktionsspiel“. Die Protagonistin zielt mit einem “Zauberhandschuh“ auf Dämonen. Man muss abwarten, bis das Fadenkreuz korrekt über dem Gegner liegt und dann abdrücken. Gibt’s immer mal in Wimmelbildspielen, aber hier ist es besonders schlecht. Es reagiert nicht gut, und zweimal hintereinander funktioniert es nicht (Cooldown?), obwohl da schon der nächste Treffer drin wäre. Stattdessen muss man die Schlenkersequenz abwarten, bis endlich wieder alles stimmt. Denn dieses blöde Fadenkreuz trollt den Spieler geradezu. Man ist schnell nur noch genervt von dieser Mechanik.
[*]DH4 arbeitet mit Erzählsequenzen, in denen man Storyelemente in Bildern anklicken muss (z.B. Kraft/Stärke dargestellt durch einen Hammer). Die sind von Anfang an nicht ganz eindeutig, und später werden sie dann durch Suchspiele ersetzt. Man muss immer drei Symbole finden, bis die nächste Erzählseite auslöst. Die Symbole sind aber versteckt und der Mauscursor deutet nichts an, weswegen man ungeduldig jede mögliche und unmögliche Steinplatte etc. anklickt, bis endlich irgendwo was passiert!
[*]Die Wimmelbilder gehen irgendwann in die gleiche Richtung und verstecken bestimmte Dinge immer besser. Man muss mehr und mehr Stellen finden, an denen erst einmal etwas zur Seite geschoben wird. Da reagiert manchmal nur eine relativ kleine Ecke des Screens. Die muss man erstmal finden.
[*]Genauso gab es im regulären Spiel zwei bis drei Momente, wo ich eine kleine Stelle nicht gesehen habe, in der man etwas hätte tun oder einsammeln sollen. Normalerweise ist das deutlich genug in dem Genre.
[*]Sind die Minispiele in der ersten Hälfte noch zu einfach oder ein Puzzle praktisch nicht vorhanden, ziehen manche später unerwartet an. Tiefpunkt wieder einmal das Ringrätsel. Irgendwann habe ich das Ding schonmal ganz ok hinbekommen, aber in dem Titel ist es wieder einfach nur Dreck - den ich erstmalig übersprungen habe, weil’s zu sehr genervt hat!
[*]Nicht zuletzt ist auch noch eine Art Bug im Spiel verblieben. Holst du an einer Stelle im Pop Up - Fenster nicht rechtzeitig den “Bumerang“, kommst du dort später nicht mehr ran/rein, kannst nicht fortfahren und musst das Spiel von vorne anfangen. (aufholen dauert ca. 15-20min)

[*]Und ganz in der Tradition der Serie sind die Untertitel ganze zwei bis drei Sekunden eingeblendet; an einer Stelle war es mal tatsächlich nur EINE Sekunde, der Text flackerte praktisch kurz auf. Was für ein schlechter Joke. Also husch husch, schnell lesen und bloß nicht blinzeln oder noch kurz über was nachdenken.

Es gibt übrigens auch noch Sammelobjekte zu finden. Naja, “finden“... so schwer sind die nicht versteckt. Außerdem gibt es einen Hinweis am Inventar. Blöd nur, wenn man mal ein paar Szenen nicht dran denken sollte, denn in sehr kleinen Abständen lässt einen das Spiel schon nicht mehr zurückkehren. Man bewegt sich immer nur in 3-5 Screens, wirklich das ganze Spiel über wird hier „gecuttet“. Naja, läuft man wenigstens nicht hilflos über eine größere Karte.
Zuletzt gibt’s noch ein Bonuskapitel. Dieses geht in unter einer Stunde unspektakulär durch, hat aber wenigstens kein nerviges Rätsel dabei.
Die Spiellänge ist insgesamt auch wieder nicht besonders weit oben anzusiedeln.

Irgendwann wurde klar, dass Setting & Atmosphäre hier auf Dauer nichts retten können. Ich wollte nur noch fertig werden, und umso nerviger ist es, wenn sich am Ende nochmal viele Räume mit teils anspruchsvolleren Rätseln auftun, wo man überhaupt nicht mehr die Konzentration investieren möchte. Dieser Teil passt auch für mich in das alternierende Muster der Reihe: ok - schlecht - ok - und jetzt wieder schlecht. Schade.

You don't have to play any game in the Demon Hunter series because each one has a different story to follow. As usual from Artifax Mundi, a quality and relaxing HOG. Enjoy!
It's alright. Not as good as other Artifex Mundi games, but better than the first two games in the Demon Hunter series. Maybe get it on sale
[h1] Довольно короткий поиск предметов на тематику египетских богов - выбивание всех достижений заняло около 3-х часов [/h1]
И этого оказалось маловато даже для выбивания карточек. За время прохождения основной истории не выпало ни одной. А для получения достижений даже не потребовалось проходить дополнительную главу, достаточно лишь в основной истории найти все коллекционные предметы. Головоломки очень простые, а сама история лишь иногда бывала напряжённой. Поиски также особых затруднений не вызвали и поэтому рекомендуется лишь по скидке.
Из стимовских фишек тут также стандартный набор для серии. Хоть разочаровало то, что здесь есть некоторые косяки с переводом при определении мужского и женского родов. А в остальном ещё одна идеальная игра на вечер без напрягов. Для любителей подобного жанра самое то.
I've played bad HOG, but never one that is as ourtright broken as this game. Several game breaking soft locks that makes it unplayable. First time this happend to me in a Artifex Mundi game. Most of the threads in the discussuion is about bugs and one of the soft locks happend to me too. Will not go back to this game.
First off, this one just makes no sense in the series. The series is about one demon hunter, and suddenly it's a different character and we're time travelling to ancient Egypt? Huh?
Second, it's very linear. Part of the fun of these games is visiting a lot of locations multiple times to get to puzzles you couldn't do before. This one you're exploring 2-3 rooms at the time on average and it gets stale quickly.
Then the gauntlet fighting mechanic... it's so annoying.
I can't compare this game to previous ones in the Demon Hunter series because I haven't played them yet. I wanted to play this one first because I love Ancient Egypt, and I wasn't disappointed! The minigames were not overly complex, and the puzzles were fairly intuitive. I get frustrated when there are too many locations and items in your inventory, but this game was relaxing and enjoyable. And the Ancient Egyptian aesthetic was wonderful. They took some liberties with the mythology and symbolism, but not so much that it was distracting.
I only encountered one bug during one of the 'battles' where it didn't seem to trigger the success cutscene, so I skipped it and it was fine.
There are no spoilers for the previous games that I could tell, so if you love Ancient Egypt and want to play it as a standalone, feel free! ^-^
It's sad to give this a bad review. I tried so hard to love it, but I can't, in good faith, recommend it.
Let me start by saying the positive aspects. This game has beautiful art. Some characters, locations, and drawings are gorgeous, like the Egyptian gods, the Lich King, and the tales. Also, Egyptian inspiration is naturally engaging, and they added a cool minigame that you have to Lara Croft out of danger. Very cool!
Now, two things make the game blatantly awful. That is the voiceovers and the LITERAL hidden objects. Feel free to correct me, but the voiceovers sound strongly Indian, and the volume and quality change, sometimes between dialogues, making it appear not treated. The other point is that A LOT of the hidden objects minigames contain objects hidden behind rocks, walls, objects, or anything you can think of. It takes the fun out of the genre. The fun resides in the camouflage. It takes much more creativity, effort, and brains to hide something in plain sight than behind other objects.
The story is pretty absurd, making it impossible to care, and most of the cast is annoying, popping out of nowhere only to participate in the story. The other new things from the last game are the terrible attempts to jump-scare you and the aim minigame. Did you lose the timing because you were stuck on animation, or the click wasn't responsive enough? Get wrecked! Now wait an eternity of seconds while the aim dances around the screen, teasing you the whole time.
Luckily, the next game has good reviews, so I expect good things to come.
This review leans more neutral, but I wasn't having a good time playing this game. As a fourth in a series, it doesn't work and would have been better as a standalone or a prequel / related. The hidden object games are fun, but the minigames often bypass interesting and just go for convoluted and tedious. All of that doesn't mention how it's doing a lackluster job at representing Egyptian mythology. It's overall unimpressive and unentertaining when compared to the previous games in this series, and, given that its title places it as a part of said series, I can't help but compare them.
It does have a mechanic to let you know if you've found the collectibles in a room, so good job there.
Encountered game breaking bug after an hour.
Kolejny HOG od Artifexu (a przynajmniej przez niego wydany) - to dalej "to samo". Jak podobały się poprzednie gry, to ta też podejdzie.
Co nie zmienia faktu, że to jedna z gorszych propozycji, póki co. W sumie to nawet nie wiem, czemu to jest podpięte pod "serię", bo łatwo zapomnieć, że to ma mieć związek z poprzednimi. Mamy Egipt... i tu się nowości kończą. Zagadki coraz mniej mi się podobają, a niektóre z szukaniem symboli czy tych samych przedmiotów, ale sztuk np. 12, są zrobione dziwnie - bo niektóre są ukryte... za czymś, ale akurat teraz jak tam najedziesz myszką, to się nie podświetli, że się da coś zrobić, po prostu masz zgadnąć. Konsekwentne jako całość to nie jest nic a nic.
A dodatkowa historia, która fabularnie też boli, zawiera jeszcze dziwniejsze zagadki, a poza nimi to zbiór pojedynczych plansz, bo prawie nic się między nimi nie przenosi. Pomysły się kończą?

's alright, but... There are issues. For one: I forgot I was playing a DEMON HUNTER game. Guess they ran out of powerful beings after that last guy died twice (Got defeated twice. Same difference). And excuse me... What... In the hell... Happened to the ORDER?! I wouldn't even have known that the MC [spoiler](this is a huge guess though because it ain't explained!) has Demon Hunter blood in her. But does she? She can wield the gauntlet... Which is already infused with Demon Hunting powers. Or is it?![/spoiler]
[spoiler]So does this mean that she either is/isn't and the Professor who said (Speculation based on a Bonus Game.) that he was going to reach out to a Demon Hunter... Does that mean he SENT the powerful being after the MC's family member...? Just so that she could come over and save them? That would make the Professor a freaking Mastermind![/spoiler]
Second: When in battle... ESPECIALLY the BOSS Battle! The click detection is atrocious! It took me 5 clicks for it to register. And you have only under 2 seconds + three hits are needed. Blow me. The Sphinx's riddles were easier than those clicks!!!
Well on the other hand... I like Egypt/Egyptian stuff... The Myth/Supernatural kind. I saw Anubis in all his glory and that in itself made my day. ^.^

Playing this game was enjoyable and I had a good time. Despite this, the game was a bit weaker than the previous games in the Demon Hunter series. The story had moments where it was unable to hold together and became confusing.
Pros:

A nice change up in story setting, Egypt, which was different from the usual generic ancient places you see in HOGs. As a Demon Hunter you must take on the spooky demon named Seth. The gauntlet you wield to take out the demons was confusing to use; I think it did its own pathing and you just clicked when it was where you wanted it but it was kind of a chore to use when you needed it and not often enough for it to be a extra mechanic to the game. HO scenes were decent like usual and puzzles had a bit more of a challenge than previous games. There wasn't a whole lot of interesting characters who got decent screentime which was disappointing, but again, I like the setting they were in when they were present. Overall while much better than the previous game but there wasn't a lot outside of the change in setting that makes this a game a must play. Should be fine game to play if you pick this up on a good sale.
An average hidden object game that is a step back compared to part 3.
Gameplay is average; puzzles and minigames are easy, and unfortunately, quite boring as well. Backtracking is too frequent, especially in the last chapter.
Graphics and animations are average.
Music and sounds are average.
The story is the weakest so far; it feels like it was supposed to be another game that was repurposed and shoehorned into the series.
There is one set of collectibles, but they are so conspiciuous that they can be noticed almost immediately.
There is also a short bonus chapter.
The character models are greatly improved in this one and therefore it isn't as funny as the others so it's a no from me dawg.
Game is short as are most HO's so make sure you pick it up when discounted. Great casual time waster for a slow quiet afternoon.
Each Demon Hunter improves on the previous one, although i do feel they keep getting shorter as well.
I am surprised to find that the game breaking bug under the bridge location, dealing with the throwing stick, still exists. The player only has a 50/50 chance of getting through the location, if you get stuck there you have to start the game all over, like I had to. Take the throwing stick as soon as you see it, otherwise you will never have another chance to do so and have to start the game over. This game should be removed from Steam until that bug is fixed.

While in Egypt your Aunt gets abducted and it is up to you to follow through a portal to Ancient Egypt to get her back and stop the evil Seth who took her.

Puzzles are your usual find in a hidden object game but given the Egyptian theme they involve scarabs and hieroglyphs. The puzzles are usually easy and lean towards hidden object scenes, and environmental interactions.
The graphics are dated but this game is from 2018 and given its age it holds up nicely in most parts.
In the menu for the Collector’s Edition you have your usual finds, a “More” tab that features settings, achievements, and credits. Extras you can unlock through playing the game include wallpapers, concept art, music, cutscenes, mini games and hidden object puzzles to replay. And as always a bonus chapter unlocks for you to play once the main story is completed. Difficulty settings are your usual; Casual, Advanced, Expert or Custom.
I found the collectables easy to find and the achievements not difficult to achieve.

I adore the hogs published by [i]Artifex Mundi[/i] more than any other for this genre, even if the games are dated and older. They always put the extras into their games that a lot of today's hogs are missing. Like a map you can fast travel from area to area, a glowing indicator in game that shows collectables are available to be found in each scene and the fact there are collectables to find to begin with.
They also have achievements and trading cards if you're one of those who enjoy those elements (like myself). It is just a shame that [i]Artifex[/i] no longer puts their current games on Steam.
That being said, this game in the series is probably the weakest in terms of actual story and the puzzles were too easy. If you're a veteran of these games you might find it bland and just lackluster overall. I personally did not have any issues with crashing or misclicks as some other reviewers have mentioned. And for myself I had no glitches in-game or broken mini games.
My experience overall was pretty smooth and uneventful. I did play as well in windowed mode and not full screen as on wide screen the older games don’t hold up as well and look stretched or blurry at full size. I also use Windows 10.

I'm new to hidden object games and only played Demon Hunter 2 and 3 before this one. This was a significant step up from the previous two games in overall production. The mechanics and puzzles were more polished and varied. They're slightly more complex and took a little getting used to at first. Still, this game prioritizes rapid-firing lots of easy to medium difficultly puzzles that are usually very logical and intuitive, unlike traditional adventure games where the puzzles can be extremely difficult and purposely non-intuitive. The pace of knocking out puzzles and advancing story and scenes makes these games breezy and fun but still very engaging. You're definitely rewarded for close observation but it never feels like a pixel hunt or like you're trying everything on everything. On the middle difficulty, I finished it in a little over 7 hours, which is just about right for this type of game.
The story, based on Egyptian religion and mysticism, is simple and mainly serves to set the atmosphere and anchor the many, many different kinds of puzzles. It won't blow you away but it gets the job done. This is a departure from the previous two games, which were a bit more traditional "haunted house" type themes, and may not be everyone's cup of tea.
The other change is that DH4 takes place long after DH3, and you play as the niece of Dawn Ashmoore. Dawn, who looks to be in her 50s now, has been captured by an Egyptian god and you have to rescue her. I'm really not sure why they switched main characters like this. Maybe to set up a duo in the next game? At any rate, I wasn't super invested in Dawn but I guess by some of the negative reviews, other people were, and didn't like the change.
Excellent story line & graphics make this the best one in the series in my humble opinion.

This is a hidden object game and usually I do love them, but this one just seems like a filler to the series. I did not enjoy this game at all. It is still beautiful to look at, however the voice acting was even worse than it usually is. I preferred listening to my husband's snoring than the contents of this game. I really wanted to like this game, but it feels like they threw it together in a few hours and called it a day.

absolute lazy execution.. nice graphics but thats about it. mainly just grab A and put i on B with the items "hidden" in plain sight and a guessing game besides the occasional HO screen and a "puzzle" which asks for no brainpower at all. found about 2 of the "puzzles" interesting and the rest not even worth mentioning. just plain boring overall.
i i find it an audacity anyways to charge more than double the price for an app game just because it got ported to pc^^ (not to mention, in some cases, years after the mobile release but with the original resolution for hidden object screens. which makes them a pain to even look at...)
buy it on sale or get it from another seller if you like the series and just wanna complete the collection but dont waste your money on it otherwise ;)

A not particularly good Artifex Mundi hidden object game. What I disliked the most is just how small of an amount of scenes you have unlocked at any given time, which is probably a silly complaint, but oh well.
Linux version of the game works without any issues.

This one felt like a cash grab, if they wanted to make a HO game set in egypt they should have made it, it's own thing separated from the DH series. the game was just fine threw me off cuz of the setting but i'm looking forward to the 5th DH game since that one looks like it stayed on theme but let's see what happens.
Lazy, broken and disappointing. From the very first game, the serie was slowly evolving. And after very good 3rd game, which I consider as the best in Demon hunter serie, I thought that the serie finaly found it's niche and now confidently stands on both legs. But then we got [i]this[/i].
Let me start with the most painful issues - technical ones. On my first walkthrough (yes, I had to suffer twice) I finished the game a-and... [b]missed 5 story related achievs![/b] How do you like that? Also, somewhere in the middle, the game screwed my hidden collectibles. Till the end of the game, it was saying that I already collected everything (of course I could not at that moment), but when I eventually found everything - the game didn't register anything.
Also. If some achievs bugged on your first walkthrough - there is a good chance that they will be broken for another walkthrough as well. It is good ("good", haha) that I discovered it at the very beginning of my 2nd walkthrough, so I just restarted it on my other PC. This time I finally managed to get the rest of achievs, but... I got a game breaking bug! The boss fight with Undead King is just broken and couldn't be finished, so I had to skip it. I was very "lucky" that in my different walkthroughs I had mutually exclusive game breaking bugs, so while I could get some achievs in one walkthrough - in another one I couild skip bugged scenes just to finish the damned game!
Ok. We discussed technical issues. What about other aspects? Are they good? - NO! Can't call them horrible either, but the best thing I can say about them - mediocre. Characters - boring and forgettable. Music - boring and repetative. Puzzles and mini games - boring, annoying, repetitive, primitive. Story? - dumb, boring, mediocre and totally out of place. It was so hilarious to see an absolute stranger in the credit scene. Lol, who are you dude? Yeah, he will be a key character in bonus chapter, but really... he is even more unrelated than the main story.
Voiceacting - HORRIBLE. Both in terms of efforts and quality. English is not my native language, but even for me listening this migrantish english was just unbearable. Visuals? - kinda good. But nothing like in previous game. Remember that juicy journal? - hmmm... Forget. Nothing like that here. So, what do we have in the end? The product that I wouldn't recommend neither on sale, nor for collection, nor even for the story. The "story" here is absolutely out of place and does not add anything usefull at all, so you can skip it without slightest regrets.

I cannot compare this game to its predecessors since I haven't played any of them yet, but as a standalone it is a decent Hidden Object game. Puzzles were a bit too easy even on expert, and besides the amateur voice acting, it manages to deliver a pleasant experience. The soundtrack is especially better than most of the others.

Hey! Not too bad of a game. I kinda felt for once, that I was happy with the story of the game, even though the road to get through it was long and bumpy! Many nice details and puzzles related to Egyptian lore, which I do like very much! The music was also perfect, and as always the game looked good. I didn't focus much on achievements in the game, just the collectibles, so I was a little surprised in the end, that I had still managed to get them all nevertheless!
After finishing the game I was actually happy with mostly everything. Apart from a bug at the last puzzle, the game turned out great in the end!
P.S. Don't forget the bonus story!

If you're looking for a game that will leave you in the dark, both literally and figuratively, then Demon Hunter 4: Riddles of Light is the one for you! This game is as slow and tedious as a demon trying to figure out a Rubik's cube, and the graphics are about as appealing as a haunted house with a "condemned" sign on the front door.
The "riddles of light" were more like a bad joke played on unsuspecting gamers, and the story was as spooky as a clown at a children's birthday party. The only thing scary about this game is the fact that someone actually thought it was a good idea to make it.
Overall, Demon Hunter 4 is a game I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. If you're a glutton for punishment, go ahead and give it a try. But don't say I didn't warn you!
Like a cheap knockoff of the previous game. The "Fighting" mechanic was so bad
The 4th entry to the Demon Hunter series was marginally better than the previous 3, but only because it had absolutely nothing to do with the previous 3 games. All 3 of the previous things seemed like they wanted to do something with that character, but just gave up before actually writing any character development. This one starts fresh, with an Egyptian theme. I did enjoy the theming of this game, but quickly noticed despite the theme, it reused pretty much all the same puzzles from the previous game, and I didn't find a challenge in this one at all.
The bonus chapter in this one did not make a lick of sense either, because it seems to purport that a week earlier she already travelled in time to ancient egypt to save her brother, instead of this other archeologist that she saves in the main game. Not sure what all was going on honestly, and at the very very very end, makes a reference to the demon hunters, which... is the only tie to the namesake of the game and the other 3 entries in the series.
I mean, its fine, if you're playing just this one. It stands on its own. not the best plot Artifex Mundi has put out, but far from the worst.

This game is a lot different than the first three. The action scenes are better, and the over all theme is done well. One of my favorites out of the dozens they have done.
Oh boy, this installment was... not good. Like many modern AM-published titles, it is all style over substance.
The surviving characters from the last game were shoehorned into an unrelated nonsense plot that felt like a disservice to both the franchise and Egyptian history.
Puzzles throughout were simultaneously too easy and incredibly buggy, with all the challenge coming from a combination of terrible bounding boxes, poor click recognition and targeting, inconsistent adaptive cursor signaling, and other UI failures.
The graphics were generally decent; however, the collectibles were over-telegraphed to the point of player insult.
About the only thing I can compliment without caveat is the soundtrack.
Usually I am happy to see an unlockable bonus chapter in a HOG, but the main game was so disappointing that I was annoyed at having to play further.
Thankfully you can 100% the game in under 4 hours, and all achievements can be earned in one playthrough.
There is no world in which this is worth $15.
One of the bad ones, don't pay for it.

Dafür, dass es von 2018 ist, gibt es ältere Wimmelbildspiele, die deutlich mehr draufhaben. An sich ist dieser Teil hier gar nicht so übel, das ägyptische Setting ist schön umgesetzt und auch die Rätsel spielen sich gut. Bleibt aber weiterhin eine mittelmäßige Bewertung, auch im Vergleich zu den vorherigen Teilen.
Der Preis ist allerdings für die Spielzeit und das, was das Spiel bietet, viel zu hoch. Am besten im Sale zugreifen.

I have played a lot of these games and this one was not worth the price even on sale. It was very short and the problems to solve were not difficult. Usually there is a bonus game as well but this one did not have an extra game. Would not recommend.

Unrelated to the other Demon Hunter games except that you have to rescue the previous protagonist.
Pretty good game, I blazed through the whole thing in 3.1h with all achievements. None were challenging, but doing some of the puzzles was. As usual, don't spend full price on it, but if you like this style of game, it's worth playing.

Demon Hunter 4 has one of the better storylines in the series thus far, though I certainly wouldn't call it "good." It is a hidden object game (HOG), after all, which is intrinsically cheesy. Visually, this game is one of the best in the genre, in fact. I would say its visuals compete with those HOGs on the "visual upper-end" of things, like the Grim Legends games. However, I would argue that the gameplay is some of the worst I've come across in the genre, at least for me.
While I certainly do not speak for the entirety of the fanbase of HOGs, I am aware of a significant portion of its fans, myself included, who take issue with puzzles which have the solution a few feet/meters away from them, typically in the same room/screen. I don't have an issue with this happening occasionally in a game, as it can be a surprise when an item you need to use to solve a problem is nearby, when you were expecting it on the other end of the map. Unfortunately, this is a regular occurrence in Demon Hunter 4. I'm an impatient person, yet even I was muttering "The blue gem had better not be in there" as I opened a container in the same room as I required a blue gem. Ordinarily, I wouldn't have minded, but this had long since become standard fare for the game by that point.
There are a few parts in the game where the items you need to resolve a situation are in different rooms, but the majority of the time, they're in the same room and the fun of finding items and coming back to old rooms to open up a container from perhaps half an hour back that I couldn't open before, just isn't in this game most of the time. It feels very "linear," with my inventory empty during much of it, even, with old rooms being removed from my visitable locations time and time again.
So in conclusion, while it's possible you might like Demon Hunter 4, and the game is certainly quite lovely as far as HOGs go, the gameplay is not what you would typically expect from HOGs, and I mean that in a bad way. I cannot recommend this one despite the great visuals, unfortunately, as that's the only good thing going for it, in my opinion.
All I have to say for this one is that I love Egypt, so this--by far--was my favorite in this series of HO games. Also, the Achievement for Finish an HO with no mistakes is a little harder than it first appears. Man of them are not just straightforward HOs. You have to combine items, open items, etc... So if you don't click of everything absolutely correctly, the achievement won't unlock. For example, I didn't get this at all on my first walkthrough. I had to do it on my second and, even then, didn't get it until the 3rd HO scene of the game. It can be tricky, but otherwise, an easy 100%!

Quite a step back from the success of Demon Hunter 3. The "combat" was obnoxious. The game overall was too easy. At first the solutions were too close to the problem (I mean locked in a cage with the key inside? Really?) but then later it became an obnoxious back and forth just for the sake of going back and forth. Don't they know by now that making you move screen to screen does not increase difficulty? The collectibles were a joke - in plain view all the time. I'm just not impressed. Still gave thumbs up because the series is good. Hopefully the next one is better.

I would recommend this game for interesting new HOG mechanics that weren't in the first few games of this series and the start was rather an abrupt divergence from the aesthetics and plot of start of the series. However it does seem to visually get more exciting as you get into the story scenes. Not sure if a God is considered a demon hence the disconnect for me and also the random jump into the Egyptian genre. The secret objects were a bit obvious this game and the lack of a visual diary into only objective lines to tick off was a step backwards. The starting scene was a bit bland but then again it couldn't been the unexpected change in tone of the series with this game. There weren't many new puzzles introduced and I felt a bit shortchanged with some of the HOG mini-games when you just had to find the various parts of the same object. The dialogue was bit meh this game and I fell asleep near the end of the game and it had finished by the time I woke up so can't quite remembered the ending but am sure it wasn't anything spectacular. lol At this stage I'm really looking forward to playing the latest HOG in this series next. hehe Still worth a play I think on sale. It's not a bad game by itself but fitting into the series I think it feels out of place?
There is many cool twist in story so keep you interested on it to end. Sound is loud sometimes and there is jumpscares so it is like horror.

首先，退出调查的判定区域比前几作大了好多，经常误触然后进进出出。
其次，这个战斗系统是怎么回事？前期自瞄的像是甲亢患者，或者帕金森重症了。我奶奶都能瞄准的比这个好。
Artifex Mundi出品的解谜游戏都是这种风格的。
在这家游戏厂家的解谜游戏中是比较差的一部。
中途有一个攻击恶魔的环节似乎有BUG，必须要提前点鼠标才能过关。

This... This game is a hot mess. At first I was like "Yay! Another continuation of the serieeeeeesss... Wait a damn minute. This answers NOTHING about the questions left open from the third game. Don't get me wrong, the switch over to the niece was good for story continuation, passing of the torch, but there were so many unanswered questions from the third game that promised answers before what's his name demon hunter got whacked off and gave us jack. This game, gave us jack. Just forget that this is supposed to be a continuation of the series before and look at it as a standalone game it... It just falls short.
Isolating the story for the game itself it is disjointed and feels haphazardly thrown together. Okay, the kid gets shot back in time and some how she can understand the denizens of this ancient civilization perfectly and vice versa?? The ending felt so rushed and... I... I could go on about this for a long time but I'll just leave it at this. This game is a hot mess. At least the usual puzzles are fun. Just skip this game and move on to the fifth, you aren't missing anything. It doesn't follow anyone we've gotten to know from the first four games but at least the story is interesting and cohesive.
好tm无语，主线游戏最后一次攻击恶魔用手镯等那个瞄准变蓝色再点击的时候发生问题了，怎么点都无法使用手镯，只能直接跳过小游戏，就很几把无语
