The Game crashes a lot. And if you have 5 players, good luck playing over the internet with your other 4 friends without lag. You basically have to do LAN. Although, it is an old game and to be expected. But it is still lame.

Nun einfach ein echt geiles Game, aber es hat halt seit 2011 als es hier her raus gekommen ist viel mit gemacht und viele Spieler angelockt aber ich wollte es mal wieder an testen und Schade was ich fand ist das es wirklich nur noch sehr sehr wenige Zocken.
Also wer es sich Kaufen möchte tut es ihr macht nix Falsch aber schaut das ihr auch Freunde habt mit denen ihr Spielen könnt sonst wartet ihr einfach zu Lange für eine Partie, den ich durfte knapp 30 Min. warten das war mir zu lang nach einer Runde wieder dann 30 Min. zu warten.

확장판이나 dlc가 있어도 좋았을텐데
아무래도 롤이나 여타 온라인 게임때문에 추가 확장은 없는 듯 하다.
이 게임 이후에는 별다른 매리트가 없는 게임들만 개발해서 아쉽다.
I think I should chine in here. I played this game a for quite some time before it was ever on Steam. May very well have been the first MOBA. I have neither the time nor the inclination to try to substantiate that statement but this was well before I personally had seen anything else of the sort. The lead designer was Chris Taylor of Total Annihilation fame. It deserves your attention and you deserve a fun, relatively simple game!
Moving on, this game is a TON of fun solo and even more so if you've got a friend or two to play with..hey it's on sale for $4; buy it for someone. You won't regret it.
Please make another release of this game or update the game with more characters, items, maps and game modes. This game has got a certain charm. I like doing 1v5 matches against the AI. So some game mode

As others have mentioned, the game works just fine and the site and server is up and running. The negative reviews are due to a temporary downtime.
It's not very active though, so you won't find a random match, but both singleplayer and with friends is still as fun as it always was.

Conditionally recommend, if it's on sale or something. It is an old game. Hasn't aged well.
A game you play just for a thing to do. There doesn't appear to be any "story mode", just skirmish or tournament modes. The characters have a backstory, but it's written, not cut scenes or anything like that.
I'm only recommending to counter certain slanders that the game is unplayable. It works on my system. Maybe I created a stardock account back in the day? I don't know.
Also recommending because I love Sedna. She's cool. Even though we know nearly nothing about her, and her sprite is pretty low resolution.

Not to mention that it was one of the first to exist. But yeah, Demigod is a pretty fun game. It looks good, it has nice mechanics, you can customize a lot of the game of parameters and it's vary singleplayer friendly. I would even go so far to say that it was designed with singleplayer in mind, given that it came out before DOTA 2 or LOL were a thing.
So, what is the game all about? The premise is that a god died and now 8 demi gods are squabbling to replace it. 6 are unlocked by default and 2 require you to start an online lobby to unlock them.
Unlike other MOBAs, there are only 2 classes, Assassins and Generals. Assassins are self explanatory, while Generals focus more on support their allies and buffing the minions, like with a banner that has the chance to ressurect fallen minions as Spirits or by a permament AOE healing effect.
There is also an in-item shop and all in all you have the usual elements of a MOBA, like buying items, making a build and trying to destroy the enemies core.
What differentiates Demigod from other MOBAs is the rest. For example the game has different maps all with a different layout. One is your typical three lane map, one is a four lane map, one is one open plane and another one consists of intertwining circles.
The same goes for the layout of the bases. There are no inner or outer towers. Instead, the amount of defenses you have are based on the map, with some only having a few walls and towers while others are like a fortress you have to fight through.
Aand, and this is the unique part of it, you can upgrade them. You can buy more health and armor for your structures, you can by addons for your core so that it generates more money or gives an XP buff, you can buy additional new minions to your waves (stuff like mages and catapults) and you can equip certain buildings with trebuchets.
In addition to that, you also have control points on the map that give your stat buffs or conquer buildings for your team, like an additional gold mine or additional portals minions can spawn from.
As for the game modes, there are two: Skirmish and Tournament. Tournament is what it says. It's a mode where you pick a Demigod and fight through consecutive levels in order to reach first place. It's not the best mode, since there is nothing unique about and it even though it's called Tournament, it are still team fights, with the evil and good characters mixed and matched. You do get a Fighting Game styled still image story at the end for being first place.
Skirmish is a bit better. While both modes use the same maps, Skirmish has the forementioned customizhations. You can chose a win condition /destroy the core, gather enough points or get a certain amount of kills), you can change your starting level, how much gold you have at the start of a match, if structures should be tougher or weaker, how much CP you gain, how much XP the AI gains, if minions should have better or worse stats etc.
There is some good variety here which allows you to tweak the game to your liking.
So all in all, I think Demigod is a fun game that you could check out when you are interested in MOBAs. While there are downsides, like the small amount of maps and characters, that the minions for both sides look the same and that you need a Stardock account to play, it has enough ideas that differentiate it from LoL or DOTA.

Just a single player game at this point.
I love this game. It's not the most amazing MOBA in the world, but it is a lot of fun to play with friends. I've been playing the game on and off since it came out, back when Stardock had their own launcher. I bought it a second time on Steam to be able to play it some more. And had continued playing it with friends until last week, when a connection issue corrupted my account. Sometimes, when trying to connect online, it just hangs for a while, and when you go back to relog your password is filled with extra characters, junk data. Apparently this corrupted my game so badly that even erasing it and typing it my password no longer works. I've confirmed on the Stardock web site that my password is correct, but it refuses to let me log in. The options to reset your password or make a new account are dead, so I cannot do either of those. Gas Power Games hasn't existed since 2018 and Stardock does not provide support for the game. I've followed all the steps in their FAQ for trying to reset the game, and nothing. My account is dead, I cannot recover it, I cannot make a new one, so I can no longer play this game with friends. It's a shame, I truly do enjoy the game and want to keep playing it. But in the state it's in, that is no longer possible.

In meinen Augen kann man hier für knappe 10€ nichts falsch machen und im Gegenzug viele Stunden Spaß haben.

Ich persönlich bin von dem Spiel sehr begeistert. Es ist sehr bedauerlich, dass dieses Spiel bis heute nicht die Popularität und Aufmerksamkeit bekommen hat, die es meiner Meinung nach verdient hat. Недооцінений, але чудовий представник жанру MOBA, але нажаль вже не актуальна бо всі унікальні механіки вже давно запозичені більш сучасними представниками. Наприклад поділ персонажів на ролі хоч тут їх всього дві.
Декілька сесій і вона вже затягує в махач із ШІ на 8 унікальних мапах, кожна з яких має свій стиль і тактичні особливості. Бо онлайн тут вже мертвий( на момент написання онлайн 1 людина), а все через поганий старт з нестабільними серверами що стало уроком для послідовників жанру.
Геймплей поєднує як класичні елементи битв героїв, так і тактичне управління підрозділами, будівлями, апгрейдами. Незважаючи на проблеми на старті, гра залишає глибоке враження завдяки атмосфері, візуальному стилю та унікальному підходу до жанру.
Оцінка: 5/10 - не моє, але не можу не оцінити вклад в розвиток МОВА і якість гри, але без онлайну це все не має сенсу.

I recommend this game because it's fun and easy to set up. I would love to see more arenas though and perhaps a few more characters. Further, it would be great to see a greater story line and a major enhancement such as full god mode after the campaigns are all completed for each character. The game itself is a bit buggy such as stalls between commands during battle and map navigation where my character will stop in a spot and not intuitively interact with the level when I click somewhere else for it to go.
This is the first MOBA and the best simultaneously.

People were all too quick to slander the game and label it DEAD, but servers were just down. They are back up again. I just played it for the first time today after owning it for many years. I enjoyed it immensely - you can have some pretty crazy battles just alone, surrounded by AI. Gameplay requires patience and persistence (due to the style of gameplay, not any flaw with the game itself). Characters are varied and super interesting. Graphics are still great after all these years, and it feels like a solid title. Saving replays works really nicely - you can relive a match from observer mode or from the perspective of any of the players.
It's my first time experiencing this type of game, and I love the intense battles but slow overall progress as you make many small wins and then have to retreat, before pushing forward again. You will group, disband and regroup as you push on different points of power and then rush back to defend certain key strategic points. The levelling up is done nicely, with upgrades to powers and indeed to fortifications and other aspects of play. Gaining more gold will allow you to purchase consumables or permanent items which will improve your character and/or add additional abilities. The higher level you are, the longer it will take for you to respawn, leading you to think very seriously before sacrificing your character and losing precious seconds.
It's a very engaging experience and feels very well balanced indeed. Will be sending out some copies to friends to give it a blast!
Hab das Problem das ich mich nicht registrieren kann. Jedesmal wenn ich das Spiel starten will, ploppt da ein Fenster auf das man sich für den Multiplayer anmelden soll. Nur wenn man sich registriert hat und sich anmelden will, kommt eine Fehlermeldung und man kann nichts machen. Quasi ist es über steam nicht Spielbar. Vielleicht bin ich einfach auch nur zu blöde aber FInger weg, kauft es lieber woanders

March 2025: Was just going through my games list and came across this game: DemiGod. This game has been dead... as in unplayable.... for YEARS. It requires you to login to play it on servers that no longer exist. It shouldn't even be in the Steam Store as an option to buy it.
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME.
All positive reviews would have to be either bots encouraging you to throw your money away (to them) OR are people reminiscing about it in the past. It was an early MOBA game and *WAS* great... DO NOT BUY, it is not playable.

As of March 2025, it seems the account creation servers are entirely offline. I was planning to just try the game out with bots since matchmaking is dead anyways, but as it is I can't even get past the mandatory account creation to do that. Wouldn't be surprised to see this de-listed before long, unless something changes.

Despite never fully releasing the last 2 Demigods, it's a classic and fun little MOBA-pioneer.
It's carried heavily by nostalgia, alright, balance might not be the main focus, but its fun and has some interesting and unique mechanics. It doesn't get boring fast if you actually enjoy the genre and lore - if you are bored by single player games then this is not for you.

Heute kennt man mit League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm und DOTA2 das Genre. Im Jahr 2009 war es noch recht frisch, und Gas Powered Games lieferten mit Demigod einen schicken Vertreter ab. Genretypisch kämpfen wir auf einer Karte gegen unseren Gegner, erobern Flaggen, zerstören Gebäude und besiegen seine Helden. Grafisch macht das Spiel auch heute noch eine gute Figur und sorgt immer noch für spaßige Stunden. Einen Blick ist es wert, auch für Singleplayer.

Bad networking but good old school pre HOTS style fun
The best Warcraft 3 styled "hero vs hero" tower defense pseudo moba. If it actually had the Blizzard painterly cartoon-y style this would be even better. The screenshots and youtube videos don't do it justice since apparently no one that plays this game knows how to control it normally.
Do you yearn to be a god. Do you want power, do you want fame and glory! Then this game is for you. Best moba ever. Get it, love it, support it and pray for #2.

Доброго времени суток. Впервые мы познакомились в 2007 году. Потом я скачал пиратку и проходил турниры на макс сложности. И знаете, не надоедало. Объективно игра конечно херня. Вытягивает только работа геймдизайнеров. Очень атмосферный проект, именно изза атмосферы и возвращаешься в нее снова и снова, перепроходишь турниры, ставишь новые рекорды, это как знаете, герои меча и магии 3. Тоже старая игра, а все равно не надоедает))) Потом случайно увидел в стиме и сразу купил, просто чисто сказать разрабам спс)))
It works on windows 10 and 11 now. Would recommend this as the best moba to ever exist. Too bad the original devs couldn't monetize it very well. Online works with custom games, give it a go. The game is dated but feels good.
So first of all, I'm practically a newb at this game.
And secondly, I wrote a guide for how to pause the game, because the game has no pause - it only has a slow-down to 10x to where things are moving at a crawl. If you don't know how to do that (and it's not obvious), then you'll be DOOMED to trying to learn the game with things running at full speed all the time, and all the item descriptions and upgrade descriptions will be forced on you to read them while time continues to progress at full speed - even if you're playing single player matches. This is already a very bad UI - making the game unfriendly to new players who want to learn. There is also no campaign which would normally be used to teach you the game mechanics. 2 big strikes against the game and against adoption.
Side-note: The other strike is that it isn't free, like DOTA. Or maybe that tells you there's something about this game that allows it to still be around and supported even though it isn't free? I tried DOTA, and I think this is better.
The game is very challenging and very deep. There are at least 6 starting demigods and 6 starting generals to choose from (I think? close to that anyways), and about the same number to unlock after you've played long enough. It plays like a MOBA (which is sort of like a RTS only accelerated so you don't need to bother building up an economy - you start out with one and expanding your economy consists mostly of capturing flags on the board, which will increase your income and war rank, both of which are used for purchasing armor, consumables and technologies). But consider this: each demigod and general has it's own unique technology tree! This makes the replay value sky-high, even for me in single player, as I don't intend to play this in multiplayer ever. This might be good in a LAN-party too.
The best part is that I've seen sale prices near $3, which is when I picked it up. That was a no brainer.
The "rook" is a good starting character, because it allows you to build extra defense towers which will persist as long as they are being fed by the network of your flags. In combination with slowing down the game play, what was once a completely impossible game suddenly gives a glimmer of hope that it can be beaten, and the game progresses at a glacial pace - ever so slowly the advantage can be maneuvered into your favor if you stop by the store and get teleport scrolls and potions as needed, and eventually better armor to empower your armies. After about 30 minutes or so of continuous grinding, victory is oh so sweet for all the struggle that led to it. Believe me, it feels great!
I could never hope to be one of these "pro" gamer twitch-reflex players, but I can get a taste of what drives them. Give it a try. Find some tutorial videos and take your time learning the ropes. It's a blast!

Incredibly fun, even against AI. This is an old game but it is well worth the price. It is insanely fun even withstanding any and all issues. As for said issues, the game has nearly no one on multiplayer since it's over a decade old and it can have glitches for the same reason. It does, however, run well even in windows 11, and never required any modding or messing around with files to make it usable. It's my favorite game of this genre (moba).

Demigod ist ein unterhaltsames MOBA mit coolen Götterkämpfen und einer netten Mischung aus Strategie und Action. Auch wenn es vielleicht nicht die Tiefe oder den Umfang moderner Titel hat, macht es trotzdem Spaß, sich durch epische Schlachten zu schlagen und seine eigenen Demigods zu meistern. Die Grafik ist solide und das Gameplay fühlt sich trotz seines Alters immer noch frisch an. 除了移动看起来很慢之外都挺好，AI困难版更有趣。steam版需要登陆官网，注册一个账号，然后通过邮件链接打开账户页面填写邮箱和密码，然后进游戏时填写账号密码一次即可永久游玩。服务器一个人都没有。遭遇战和锦标赛，后者节奏更快。想当年这个游戏刚出的时候太多人白嫖。这个游戏的特点在于每个半神的特征都非常鲜明。汉化补丁网上很容易下载安装。补票的原因在于 第三方网站的安装包总有这个或那个问题，折腾人。还是steam方便。比如之前GOG买英雄无敌4，下载后启动分辨率不适配，根本不能玩。不过话说，一些游戏当年在网吧玩没感觉画质差，显示器分辨率时不高，但屏幕质量好，现在steam笔记本下载来玩，为什么感觉画质非常差？操作也别扭。如圣域黄金版
I like this game, cant remember how to unlock the extra toons.
What an old, clunky, strange take on a MOBA - it's dated, slow-paced and charmingly ugly, but for all of those reasons I love it!
Forget playing against people, you'll have to make do with bots but even so, it's a lot of fun. The different characters are unique enough that you'll have a completely different play-style according to whomever you choose, and it takes some real practice to master each of them.
Great game with unique set of playable characters that unfortunately was beaten in market by other F2P MOBA. Successfully smashing an enemy to death with the Rook's hammer is so satisfying.
One downside is that the skills don't scale with bought items. Late game most (if not all) damaging skills become obsolete. But that could have easily been improved if the game was popular enough.
This game was, is and will always be Awesome!!

It may be dead besides the OGs, but I still return to it for nostalgia.
The zoom ins especially on Rook at his full might are gorgeous and scary at the same time.
The maps are beautiful and the gameplay very interesting with a TF2 team style (medic, tank, sniper, assassin, turrets etc.) if played correctly.
Well done to the Developers, pity about the lack of support.
