Yapımcıların ellerine sağlık. Tamam eksikleri olabilir ama belli ki ekip çok büyük değil. Oynarken hiç sıkılmadım. Dondurucu mekaniği çok zevkliydi, bu mekanik zaten oyunu oynatan en büyük faktör.

Oyun dediğin böyle olmalı, basit kontroller, zevkli oyun mekaniği, merak uyandıran ve gittikçe çözülen hikaye anlatımı... Sadece aksiyon kısmı biraz zayıf o kadar. Bir sonraki yapımda eminim tekrar tekrar oynatacak bir oyun çıkacaktır.

[h1]Tiene más encanto el primero...[/h1]
pero en "Gustos se rompen géneros" y se rompe la narrativa muy rápido, porque Aliens literal (perdón por el spoiler, pero es necesario decirlo, pierde lo "zombi" y se encamina a X Files... lo que es un ¿wat?). Un título difícil de reseñar y recomendar, salvo te guste que te saquen los pedos por sorpresa... que de eso abusa el "terror" de esta entrega.

[h2]>A Grandes Rasgos:[/h2]
Pues... es la secuela-precuela de un título de "zombies" semi-indie que hizo bien lo que propuso, salvo por el boss... que este developer vuelve a hacerlo: es un ascote el boss, y no sabe terminar el título.

La apuesta ahora se centró en la "acción", mientras el primer título hacia bien su trabajo homologando una película clase "B" de terror, este título es un wannabe dead space: escenarios que se bloquean hasta que elimines todos los enemigos y el uso de "estasis", que aquí es hielo... suena bien en papel, y el la práctica es mediocre, pues desde la poca variedad de enemigos y arsenal, a las mecánicas apenas bien planteadas, es un título lento y aburrido... ya que basa su "terror" en sustos de casita de los horrores, que te salga algo de la nada y no... porque tambien los enemigos spawnean y se pierde el suspenso con tanto "bum!".

Dicho lo anterior, si no tienes problemas con propuestas experimentales, y te gusto lo que se propuso en la primera entrega... adquiere este título, pero desechando lo que se propuso de temática en el primero; sobre lo "zombi"/arma biológica, este título se enfoca en aliens... porque si, porque son los 90's.

[h3]>De que va la Historia:[/h3]
Manejamos a Dalila Reyes, agente de H.A.D.E.S. (el contexto es la primera entrega), la cual le dan una misión ultrasecreta de ir al área 51... porque 90's ya que se debe recoger cierto objeto de manera muy discreta, y en su unidad tiene de compañero a Radek (de nueva cuenta el contexto es la primera entrega) el cual tampoco sabe mucho.

Al llegar al sitio, este está desierto, y la unidad tiene que buscar el objeto que según iban a recuperar, en lo que desvelan que ha pasado; un inicio fuerte, que degenera a ir al centro de la tierra y teleportaciones... ya que en esa base se encuentran haciendo experimentos con esa tecnología.

Así las cosas, que te asustas y espantas, que disparas y que matas, en lo que progresa la historia, parece que la hermana perdida de la protagonista se encuentra en esa base, y nuestra protagonista va a su búsqueda... ¿lograra nuestra prota saber que paso con su hermana?; ¿que tienen que ver los aliens con la primera entrega?; pues no mucho se resuelve en el juego, pero al menos te saca un pedo de la sorpresa(?).

[h2]>Lo Bueno:[/h2]
+Las primeras 2 horas del título son fuertes, y luego decae en su propia narrativa y mecánicas.
+El gameplay cumple, y propone... luego empiezas a ver sus deficiencias; la falta de variedad de enemigos y sus ataques: los agarrones, todo enemigo es puro grab.
+Se nota el aprendizaje, está más pulido en cada aspecto el título, aunque por dios developer, cámbiale la animación de carrera a tus modelos xD
+Tiene unos escenarios muy irreales y que pueden "maravillar".

[h2]>Lo Malo:[/h2]
-Para ser un título que apele a la "acción", no da un arsenal acorde, ni mecánicas propias del género... tanto agarrón da asquito y hace lento el gameplay.
-Solo hay 3 tipos de enemigo... la variedad es escasa.
-Es un "Survival Horror" que basa su "horror" en la sorpresa, te sacara 2 o 3 pedos inicialmente, y luego te acostumbraras; es lo malo de depender de la sorpresa para el horror.
-La historia está bien fea xD de pasar a una temática de película "B" paso a los X-Files.
-o el developer no sabe hacer bosses o es muy bueno haciéndolos; es de nueva cuenta un asco el "boss".

[h2]Resumiendo:[/h2]
Pues... por eso se requiere el botón mixto... a mí no me gusto esta secuela-precuela, y prefiero la primera entrega... 5/10; pero las mejoras si se ven por cuanto al gameplay y mecánicas... aunque no sean de mi agrado (No es mal juego, y que le de "dedito abajo" no refleja que sea malo, pero no es algo que recomendaría a ciegas, al amante del género Survival Horror =un título a tomar con pinzas). Por otro lado, la temática "alien" ya me tiene un poco harta, y no ayuda el "terror" que se base en sorpresa.

Dicho lo anterior, solo lo recomendaría al 50% y olvidando lo que plantea la primera entrega.

I played the first game, and this sequel is a massive improvement, it is still a little rough around some edges, but the overall experience is enjoyable, and the twist of the enemy design (the combat loop) is interesting. A solid game, but it still has room to growth, I believe that more diversity of enemies and scenarios would improve the pacing a lot. Overall, I would like to see a next game, the devs seem to able to evolve further.

Pretty good Resident Evil-like game. It's got all RE perks with over-the-shoulder shooting, complex puzzles and crafting system. Story is alright and not as over-the-top like RE games.

Poderia haver mais armas disponíveis, a fim de tornar a mecânica de batalha com congelamento, mais variada. Os cenários, poderiam ser mais interativos. Pagando um bom preço em promoção e sendo fã dos jogos RE mais antigos, vale a pena.

Tenia mas expectativas de este que de el 1998 pero después de tremenda decepción no esperaba nada en realidad. Aun así me sorprendió para bien. Este mejora todo lo que el 1998 hace mal.
En general gráficamente se ve muy bien, pero a comparación del primero donde los gráficos eran mediocres, las partículas inexistentes y los reflejos prácticamente decorativos, aquí si se nota un gran salto de calidad.
Igual la Iluminación esta mucho mas trabajada, los escenarios mas detallados y con un mejor diseño artístico, al menos en este apartado mejoro notablemente.

En cuanto el resto, el gameplay se siente mas dinámico, mas fluido, ya no se siente tosco o lento, asimismo las armas, además el diseño de los enemigos no es malo, pero la variedad es limitada y siento que no exprime del todo sus propias ideas, terminan sintiéndose mas funcionales que memorables. al igual que la historia, si es verdad que el de 1998 tenia una historia nefasta, esta no lo es, pero tampoco es que se la gran cosa, simplemente es una historia genérica, que al menos te permite conectar mas con los personajes y les da mas peso emocional que es algo que el de 1998 escaseaba.

This might’ve passed for “decent” Resident Evil clone a decade ago, but now it just feels like a forgettable experiance.

Generic Area 51 backdrop, secret POTUS team, alien goop, electrified zombies... all tied together with the script and narrative writen by a stiff, self-serious director who obviously is a die-hard fan of low-budget Steven Seagal flicks.

si te gustan los Residente Evil puedes dejarte 5-10 euros, es simple y no hace falta mucho esfuerzo ni tiempo. pero no me lo he llegado a pasar ya que me niego someterme a la tortura que es el jefe final. Conozco la mecánica, entiendo el proceso, se como hacerlo, pero aún así se acaba bugueando en ciertos puntos y vuelta a empezar (si sabes, sabes). Sí que no gracias. No lo recomiendo xk me revienta no terminar un juego en el que he llegado al final, y por hacer algo que literalmente va en contra de divertirse, no lo termino ni terminaré. 5-6/10 igualmente

Сюжет, синиматик, для творца говна, очень даже ничего, деревянные анимации тоже простительны, но левел дизайн, вашу мать, вырвиглазные огромные локации (по меркам коридорных шутеров) со скудным закосом под какой-то резак, где ты экономишь свой бэг, ТУТ - КОТ НАСРАЛ на АЗОТ, я честно не понимаю прикола делать, ПСЕВДО УБИВАЕМОГО МОБА, который зависит от показателя не твоих патронов, а показателя азота, как дол***еб начинаешь бегать по кругу, напевая музон из Бенни Хила, и ждать пока у тебя, бл**ь, или кончатся патроны, или откатится азот, моб будет тебя как маньяк приследовать до потери пульса, игра точно не стоит 1400 и не 800 по скидке, берите по супер сейлу, но в общем катнуть можно

Es wirkt etwas in der Zeit stecken geblieben leider, bis auf Grafisch ist es meiner Meinung nach einfach nicht besser als der erste teil.

Die Steuerung fühlt sicher eher nach 2015 als 2023 an
Level die sogut wie alle gleich aussehen und kaum unterschiede bringen und damit leider auch die Atmosphäre in mitleidenschaft ziehen.
Die Story ist voraussehbar und nicht wirklich spannend so das man nicht unbedingt weiter spielen will.

Positiv muss man sagen das die Grafik sehr gut ist und die Englischen Dialoge gut sind.

First of all, it isn’t really a horror game, even though it tries to be one at times.

Some scenes are a bit spooky.
The lighting even managed to scare me once when I mistook a jacket hanging from a bed for something else, but overall it’s rather an action shooter than a horror game.

The first few hours feel quite on rails, which can be boring, but later that changes.
You'll get a bit more freedom, and I managed to get lost a few times.

The puzzles are fairly easy.
You won’t need to be a Mensa member to solve them, but they add some variety between combat sections, which is fine.

The game ran very good, with no performance issues or crashes.

I only noticed two bugs.
Once, I could access a cache without opening it properly, and during the final boss fight the boss died, but the game bugged out and wouldn’t let me continue.
I had to reload my last save to go on.

The storytelling is okay.
Nothing new or surprising, and it’s probably not going to stick with you for long, but it works well enough for a one time playthrough, even if the ending is a bit confusing and left me wondering what happens next.

On the positive side, the voice acting is really good, animations are decent, and the level design kept me interested.
You can tell the developers tried to be creative with the resources they had.

It’s not a Game of the Year contender, but it’s also far from being a bad game.
If you can grab it on sale for around 9.99, it’s definitely worth it for a few hours of fun.

According to the title screen, it took me about 6.5 hours to finish it.

PS: Don’t close the game when the credits roll; there’s still a bit more afterwards.

[h2] Overall it felt more like action than horror, but still with a few spooky moments here and there. Simple puzzles but solid voice acting and level design make it enjoyable despite minor issues. I'd say it's worth picking up on sale for 9,99 or less. [/h2]

I can't make a bad review since it's a little game who cost me 15bucks but everything is mid. If u like Survival Horror game like me, u can have a good time playing this game. The twist is not that good, he can be if they have better writting, but the only really BAD thing is, i think ennemies, there is 3 type of ennemies, and they are too fast. It's frustrating because when u handle one with cryo others one gather next to u. I think they need more ennemies, make thoses who are fast easier to kill, and other one harder and a lot more ennemies during fight. They have to balanced this for the next game.

Вполне хорошая игрушка. Видно, что разработчики вдохновлялись серией Resident Evil и смогли сделать не просто пародию, а достаточно интересную самобытную игру со своими необычными идеями. Получилось недурно.

В целом, игра достаточно красивая и атмосферная, сюжет вертится вокруг Зоны 51 и нам доведётся побывать в интересных местах. Я даже словил какие-то вайбы F.E.A.R. в плане посещённых локаций. Кстати говоря, возможно, эта игра выиграла бы куда больше, если бы это был шутер с элементами хоррора в стиле F.E.A.R., а не Resident Evil.

Хотелось бы иметь чуть более широкий арсенал, но, в принципе, и так сойдёт. В нашем арсенале: дробовик (это наше всё, самое эффективное огнестрельное оружие), пистолет-пулемёт (мне он показался хорошим выбором, чтобы пройти менее тяжёлые участки карты, можно стрелять одиночными для экономии патронов), ещё позже открывается "Ледяная хватка", установка с жидким азотом, которая позволяет замораживать врагов и всё в таком духе (полезная вещица).

Радует, что в Daymare нет повторяющихся сражений с боссами на протяжении всей игры, как это любят делать в серии RE. В серии RE, зачастую, тебе надо на протяжении всей игры убивать одного и того же босса по 10 раз, а ещё они там бесшумно подкрадываются, огроменные мутанты по 300+ кг - бред же. В Daymare же всё более приземлённо в этом плане, тут по сути один босс файт в финале, если можно так выразиться. Финал, кстати, кажется слегка затянутым, но это не критично.

Атмосфера нормуль. Стрелять прикольно и патронов хватает в самый раз, с небольшим запасом (если, конечно, не шмалять в панике во все стороны). Загадки адекватные, всё интуитивно понятно. Нет ощущения, что игра искусственно тянет моё время. Есть ещё коллекционки с пришельцами - прикольная тема. В этой части чуть больше раскрывается один из ключевых персонажей первой игры, было интересно.

К недостаткам можно отнести то, что анимации перемещения по лестницам довольно медленные, а периодически приходится лазить по лестницам, ну и лицевые анимации ещё так себе. В остальном игра вполне приличная.

По полной цене игра мне кажется дороговатой, но вот по скидке я смело рекомендую к покупке, если вас интересуют игры подобного жанра.

Malísimo, estoy casi en el final y en todo el juego aparecen los mismo 4 bichos de siempre, el sistema de combate aburridísimo y en lo personal este juego vale 5 dólares, tiene buena atmósfera de suspenso y demás, sin embargo, la historia es aburrida y literalmente parece un correr/investigar el simulados debido a que sus bichos son siempre los mismos y ni siquiera aparecen muy seguido (Por suerte) de haber sabido 100% no lo compraría, mejor guarden el dinero para otro juego porque de verdad este no vale para nada la pena.

[h1] The Good [/h1]

Remember how the 1994 incident was mentioned a few times in the first game? Ever wonder what all that was all about? I did, but I'm a sucker for lore in my Survival Horror. Some great great improvements here. Voice Acting is great, characters are pretty likable or hateable (as villains should be), the movement system was effectively simplified, and our protagonist walked into an outbreak fully prepared: Shotgun and SMG at the ready with her proprietary self-made wristpad. Yeah, she apparently invented the the wristpad from the first game. Also, there's a perk/upgrade tree system that I greatly enjoyed.

Good good stuff all around, except...

[h1] The Bad [/h1]

...that I didn't really enjoy the gameplay loop. I found Sandcastle to be more linear in nature, wished the movement hadn't been simplified, and I don't feel like the main gimmick of the game really works well?
[spoiler] So you get a freezegun/thrower and it is the coolest thing ever. Except some enemies can only really be perma-killed through freezing. Very limited ammo and changes in controls meant I kept accidentally using my refills and the recharge is very, [i]very[/i] slow. I'm used to hectic combat and tight resources but this gimmick didn't really click for me personally. Your mileage may vary [/spoiler] .

Aside from that, you almost exclusively play as one protagonist this time around and I felt that Daymere: 1998's story was much broader in scope and telling. This one is fairly limited, but that does make it less confusing since you're not jumping around as much.

[h1] The Ugly [/h1]

[spoiler] You can absolutely use the freeze refills when you're already at full or accidentally, absolutely screwing yourself over in later fights. You need freeze to prevent and will-o-wisps from merging or reanimating another corpse. DO. NOT. LET. THEM. MERGE. [/spoiler]

[h1] The Redeeming [/h1]

I just really love the vibe of this game honestly, and the answers it provides for the first game. I really hope that Invader makes a third one and builds off the lessons from these games. Also, it just feels good to step out of the helicopter with a proper loadout and ready to kick ass and take names but still get rekt. The best I can compare it to are all the cutscenes we see of Umbrella's USS squads getting spanked...except you're playing as one of those operatives.

[h3] Final Thoughts [/h3]
Ultimately, I think Sandcastle was a bit of a misstep and it didn't take the right lessons from the first game but I still highly, [i]highly[/i] recommend it. It's $40 CAD and is on sail regularly, and supporting smaller studios putting out games with heart and soul is better than any of CAPCOM's over-monetized slop.

На самом деле значительный прогресс в отличие от первой части - геймплей (улучшили, пусть и не идеально), сюжет, раскрытие главного героя, за историей которого интересно наблюдать на протяжении всей игры.
Что мне понравилось больше всего - добавление интересного "рюкзака" и его улучшения.

Огромный минус - то, что даже при самом легком уровне сложности открывать замки-головоломки придется все равно на сложном или очень сложном.
Также очень долгое карабканье по лестницам (серьезно, в наше время стоило как-либо упростить этот нудный процесс).

При всем при этом, игра очень порадовала таинственным и нетривиальным сюжетом (местами возникало переживание за судьбу родственницу героини в финале), разнообразием врагов. Буду ждать продолжения.

The environments are pretty cool, but over done post-processing effects make the game feel like you are looking through 30 filters behind an aquarium. The contrast is just insane. It makes the lighting look awful. Which makes everything look awful.

The enemies are not pretty bland. There is like 3 types of enemies throughout the entire game. The generic zombie guys are not interesting too fight at all. They just run at you and you freeze them and shoot them. Or you run away in a circle until you can freeze them. The gameplay loop consists of solving some sort of puzzle. Usually requiring you to go down the hall to find a keycard or w/e. Then on the way back the zombies just "appear" with a flash of lightning and boom they are in the same room or spawned behind you and its just really annoying. They just spawn in at specific spots and its just so predictable and so uninteresting.

The story and characters are ridiculous and cheesy. The cutscenes go on for way to long, and entire cringe territory most of the time.

The audio design seemed fine to me.

Overall this game is incredibly boring. There are no actual scares or any sort of horror moments besides zombies randomly spawning in which makes a loud sound effect. Which isnt really scary just startling.
Maybe wait till its on sale if you really want to play it.

На первый взгляд может показаться, что это типичный боевичок от третьего лица. И знаете что? Так оно и есть) Но! Но. Иногда стоит отдавать должное за попытку. За приложенные, так сказать, старания. И вот тут разработчики действительно постарались в оригинальность.

Daymare 1998 (первая их игра) была не лишенным обаяния, но напрочь кривым подражанием Резиденту. А вот эта игра уже вполне самостоятельна. Во-первых, героиня. Типичный протагонист, пачками кладущий мобов с мрачно-пафосным лицом? Да. Но нет! Делайла какая-то.. человечная что-ли. Например, столкнувшись с тем, что операция пошла по пи зде, соратники исчезли, а вокруг полный ах уй, она начинает натурально истерить и старается... Не операцию выполнить или там соратников спасти, а просто... выжить. Съеба ться подальше от Зоны 51 (да-да, той самой). И к ней как-то проникаешься. А еще она социальный инвалид, не умеющий общаться. Интроверт на максималках. В технике разбирается, в людях – нет. Делайла, милая, мы тут все тебя понимаем и совсем не осуждаем.

Во-вторых. Боевая система. Местные зомби (если их можно так назвать) очень быстрые. И уже одно это делает геймплей непохожим на другие зомби шутеры. Противники тут – принявшие доблестную смерть монтёры, схватившие смертельный заряд тока после залезания на столб по пьяной лавочке. Ну, может не совсем так, но похоже. Этих гадов надо морозить (как тебя бабы по жизни) и только потом убивать. Играется... бодро! Хоть и непривычно. Разнообразия бы побольше. В оружии и типах противников. Было бы еще лучше.

Можно долго еще распинаться, но лень. Игра – крепкий середняк. Возможно, что на следующем заходе у этих разработчиков выйдет уже прям совсем хорошо. Дорогу осилит идущий)

Overall, I quite enjoyed the game for the first 4 hours, but it starts to get boring because this is a linear action horror game where you have only 2 guns and 1 gadget. Although this gadget can still accomplish many things, it won't be enough. Player's arsenal isn't a big deal as long as there are many varieties of enemies, which is unfortunate, this game only has 4 enemy types, including the final boss. The final boss fight is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ too. But I really like this game's atmosphere; they did it really well in terms of the horror aspect. Story is just whatever, I don't really care that much, but it's not that bad, I guess? And I think this game is just too long, like 5 or almost 6 hours, for having little variety in enemies like this. There is still a bad thing that I don't mention, but for a price like this, I think it's acceptable.

I was enjoying the premise of this game until it the introduction of Aptom where it was brought to my attention that the character who is of a minority has DID and that the alter is a sociopathic killer. That is wildly inaccurate of the disorder and continues to stigmatise the condition that is wildly misunderstood, it also stigmatises the minority this character "represents". As such I can't continue to play this game and also can't recommend it.

Bon bah voilà...
Les ennemis sont ennuyeux sans exception, les combats sont lourds et surtout pas assez dynamique, les seuls moments où j'ai sursauté c'est sur les fameux jumpscare que tous les jeux cheap font car ils ont pas la capacité de créer une ambiance sinistre/glauque avec un fond de musique léger et des ennemis qui font... peur. Je suis terrifié d'être électrocuté, ouloulou !
Nan plus sérieusement, c'est un action-horror où l'action est inintéressante et l'horror inexistant - le jumpscare c'est pas de l'horreur, c'est de la surprise... Vos daronnes peuvent apparaître d'un angle de mur et ça va vous surprendre/faire momentanément "peur", rien d'incroyable. En vrai si on pouvait faire le jeu en troll avec des perso comme ça, ce serait un excellent nanare.
Niveau histoire, ça reste "classique" même si les personnages sont ultra lourds - des idiots finis, et aucune relation avec le joueur peut se faire car leur train de pensé est tellement infantile/civil (je rappelle, c'est des soldats normalement) qu'ils feraient une crise d'angoisse car y'a plus de pq sur le rouleau. Toutes leurs réactions sont disproportionnés et je verrais plus des flics dans leurs réactions que des soldats.
Jeu anecdotique, son prédécesseur était pas incroyable (même problème niveau scénario ...) mais il tenait la route. Pas lui.
Dommage, j'ai laissé le temps de maturer pour que les bugs soient traités à la sortie et les mois suivants, et le résultat est franchement pas ouf.

여기에 텔포하면서 짤짤이 넣는 색히, 적 계속 소환하는 색히 섞이면 환장한다

처음엔 괜찮은 분위기의 게임으로 보였는데 하면 할수록 적 배치가 거지같다

Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle feels pretty familiar if you’ve played the first game, Daymare: 1998. I mean, they clearly kept a lot of what made the first one enjoyable, but with a twist. Instead of just your typical zombies roaming around, this time we get these supernatural creatures which adds a nice layer of variety.

One thing I appreciate is that they kept the challenging resource management from the first game. You can’t just blast through everything; you really have to think about how to conserve your ammo and plan your movement. It gets your heart racing!

Overall, while it doesn’t stray too far from its predecessor, the supernatural spin does help keep things fresh. If you enjoyed the first game, you’ll likely find a lot to love here. It's a solid experience for fans of the genre!

Aunque me gustaron los dos juegos siento que ésta segunda parte (precuela en realidad) la disfruté un poco más, técnicamente es superior pero es entendible porque es un juego mas nuevo. Quiero destacar mucho el arma de congelación frost grip porque me parece muy intuitiva y dinámica a la hora de ayudar a reventar cabezas junto con la escopeta y también el trabajo que hicieron con los efectos de sonido, muy bien logrado. La historia junto a la ambientación terrorífica logran captar tu atención hasta el final. Seguramente hecho en falta cosas del primer juego así que espero una tercera parte con lo mejor de ambos.

+ [b]Incredibly Talented Art Team, Especially Environments[/b]: If there’s one thing I think this team has down, it is prop and environment art. And this is no small achievement, because I feel like an art background this solid is difficult to come by. Environments are interesting and feel believable, with really solid prop detail scattered around each room. I especially enjoyed the computer screens and posters, as well as certain areas like the underground city.

+ [b]Has all the Decorations of a Resident Evil Title[/b]: A “limited” inventory, puzzles, inspection of key items that allow you to open and examine them in detail. There’s some decent puzzle complexity, even, although the time limit and the low difficulty of most of the puzzles could definitely be improved. And with a bunch of optional aliens to pursue, bonus unlockable cheats and difficulty modes, and collectibles to unlock, you could easily get quite a bit of playtime out of the game.

+ [b]Getting There…[/b]: There are some solid improvements to how the game looks, feels, plays and sounds from Daymare 1998. Yes, the voices are still rough, and the facial animations way worse, but the inventory is improved, the core feels better to control, and it overall feels like there is slightly more direction and confidence in this title. I predict this team is one or two games away from maybe making a title that can actually stand in the genre… provided they learn, again, from their last title.

[h1]Cons:[/h1]

- [b] Reinventing the Wheel into a Boulder[/b]: Resident Evil 2 – Zombies, zombie dogs, unholy experiments called Lickers and Hunters, Mr. X, and the list goes on. Dead Space – Necromorphs, but in different types of bodies, with hugeee varieties in how they represent and attack you (babies, standards, pregnant, hulks, wall tentacles). What does Daymare choose to do? Floating lightning orbs that turn corpses into the lamer Mass Effect Husks. This is but one of many examples where, in trying too hard to overthink the concept, they ended up making something inherently weaker than what inspired them. One example is that the floating enemies (which aren’t bosses, Invader Studios) are instant kill on grab, but they failed to realize that the reason instant kill enemies work in other games is that there are plenty of tools to counter them, such as tasers, knives, grenades, or even a built in dodging system. But there is an even worse example of this:

- [b] Ice is Not Kinesis or Stasis[/b]: It’s extremely clear that the inspiration behind the ICE Suit is Dead Space with Isaac Clark’s Kinesis and Stasis modules. These tools are limited augments to your regular gameplay in Dead Space, not meant to be the primary means of combat, but a handy fallback. You’re never REQUIRED to kill with these tools, or even use them at all beyond some puzzles, but they can help you out of tricky situations and can serve as a brilliant, crafty way to conserve ammo. Well, in Daymare 1994: Sandcastle, the Ice power is a twist on that formula that asks “What if that system was required? And you had to run around in fights waiting for it to recharge because some enemies are immune to bullets and can only be killed with an ice punch? And the ice punch ALSO consumes ice powers?” I ended up having most of my encounters using the shotgun to try and instantly kill as many standard enemies as I could, and trying desperately to use my ice hand shot to get the orbs before they multiplied an enemy into a red one. I’d, of course, eventually run out of ice juice, and so I’d slowly run around the red enemies waiting for it to recharge. It arbitrarily slowed down my gameplay HARD, and turned the game into a frustrating slog as I’d often get grabbed by enemies while I’m trying to herd them in a circle. I genuinely think the game would’ve been much better WITHOUT the gimmick.

- [b] Mechanically Flawed and Lacking Focus[/b]: Combined with the previous complaint is this overall unsatisfying feeling in playing the game. Everything just feels like… the bare minimum. An inventory screen that requires no item management for an overwhelming majority of the game, puzzles that are as easy as a children’s coloring book assignment, enemy fights that do nothing remotely special and turn into a repetitive slog.

- [b] More Shallow than a Puddle[/b]: I got about ~8 hours out of my playthrough on Hardcore, and man let me tell you, it was incredibly uneventful. Most of the game is hallways and corridors with extremely little exploration or mystery, with NO bosses (besides the floating guys they reuse and straight up recolor), about 3 standard boring enemies (two of which are just recolors) that just full sprint at you and… choke you out (scary!!!), and a majority of the scares summed up as either a light shattering or an enemy placed on the very edge of a corner that loudly screams and attacks you. The levels are all dark caves with the occasional fluorescent lighting, the world detail and motivations are entirely predictable, and there is no game complexity like shooting corpses. The page even has the audacity to say “Moreover, even if you’re sure you’ve killed one, you’ll find out it can come back in a completely new form and even deadlier than before!”, BUT I CAN GUARANTEE YOU, NOTHING like that ever happens. One of the funniest examples of this are the eggs lying around in the electric goop, which you can (for some reason) shoot to break. It made me very curious what the deal with them was, and then we fall into a room with a BIG egg. What did it turn out to be? A BLUE floating enemy spawns in and electrifies the egg, to spawn a normal floating enemy. Even the LAST (and only) “”””BOSS””” of the GAME is a floating enemy with a woman’s model placed inside of it.

- [b]Almost Offensively Bad Story[/b]: I know people rag on Capcom for their stories in Resident Evil titles, but man, this game makes even the campy writing of those games look like award winning scripts. The “super mysterious” Aptom whose reveal is a waste of time, the totally-not-a-hallucination sister who straight up says her direct connection to Dalila, the dry back-and-fourth between Dalila and Gora… And the overarching plot lacks anything remotely interesting, with ever twist a drier, more obvious retelling of something Resident Evil did. And these poor cutscenes, man. The facial animation is rough as it is (with characters speaking with gritted teeth and no eyelid movement), but some of the scenes are so ridiculous they’re hilarious, such as the game’s ending scene before the credits.

[h1]Overall:[/h1]

My experience with Daymare 1998 was rough, but the game had promise, and was leaning into its PS1-inspired goofy cutscenes and janky gameplay well enough. So, I resolved that I’d look into the sequel eventually, as I love the Survival Horror genre a ton, and want to give most Indie developers a fair shake in the space.

Well, there is some credit due to Invader Studios, as the title IS improved in some key ways from the first game. But, unfortunately, it’s difficult to recommend this game to even the most forgiving of Survival Horror fans. It’s a slog to play through, it doesn’t say or do anything more interesting than Dead Space or Resident Evil (which are its two clearest inspirations), and I can’t even say I’ll be remembering any part of it particularly fondly.

It sort of reminds me of a bad PS2 game rental. So, I would recommend picking the game up on a heavy sale, and expecting no more of it than you would a title like that. But, I wish Invader Studios well, give kudos to the things they managed to improve, and will be watching carefully for what they do next.

A good game indeed, it sadly try too hard to be resident evil 2 with a gender swap.

The game is buggy, hard, and gameplay is not really smooth. HOWEVER, considering the last episode, and the team, it's worth the price, and it's a great time for a weekend. These developpers should be supported, and i'm pretty sure if a third episode come someday, they'll be greater.

For the team size and timeline utilized for the development of this game, it's a great on sale buy. If you're a classic survival horror fan and go into it knowing that it's not a Capcom production, the game is a fun weekend play. It has it's jank and awkwardness but if you get it for a few bucks and you love 90s cliche' it's so worth.

Surprisingly good action horror game, Daymare 1994 is different from the first game but it shows that the devs had a bigger budget and more resources for this project.
-Game looks very good, amazing setting with a creepy atmosphere and great sound design. The lighting is very good too
-A very interesting story involving government conspiracy and aliens with a decent main protagonist who might not be the deepest character but has a backstory and never becomes obnoxious
-The game handles the difficulty very well, normal is very forgiving and you will always have more than what u need to face your foes, hard makes the experience more tense where you MUST be careful and not waste your resources, finally we have HADES mode which is like a new game + and its a lot of fun. I really suggest playing the game in each difficulty

If I have to point out some negative points is that the cutscenes can look a bit weird but in general they look decent and the voice acting is A LOT better than daymare 1998, my second point is that there is an enemy that can one shot kill u if it gets too close, to be fair the enemy is VERY slow and u can even freeze it but still I found it a bit frustrating when it killed me.

I strongly recommend this game if you re a survival horror or action horror fan, it might not be a masterpiece but imo its a really underrated game.

It's genuinely better and free from the jank that plagued Daymare 1998, but man, it's still not there yet. Combat feels routine, not exciting. It's very on rails, with little in the way of map exploration like the Resident Evil series. The ice powers are a unique and thoughtful touch I'll give it that. Daymare 1994 just doesn't feel like a fun game to play, it looks more fun to watch if that makes sense.
