Recentemente me bateu uma vontade de jogar um "DoDonPachi", mas tava com preguiça de caçar roms, então procurei na steam por bullet hell e me deparei com essa franquia (no pc só temos o 2 e 3. O 1 era de iOS) e te falar, foi uma bela de uma descoberta.

Não tem o que falar de história nessa análise, né? O jogo não tem e nem é necessário. São só navinhas, pew pew pew e música. E isso o jogo faz ótimo.

Tive um pequeno problema assim que iniciei o jogo, porque ele é feito pra ser jogado na vertical, mas pra preencher uma tela widescreen, ele deixa meio que uma versão estendida e borrada do que tá rolando no gameplay por padrão. Isso me incomodou muito, mas deu pra desativar nas opções.
Além disso, o jogo tem os botões meio estranho na tela. Ele não entendeu que eu estava num controle e continuava mostrando as teclas do teclado.
Como ele só tem 3 teclas, não me atrapalhou tanto.

Admito que não sei muito bem como identificar se um bulllet hell é bom ou não, ou o que fazem deles bons ou ruins, mas gostei bastante desse. A música é ótima, os visuais são OK, a maioria dos ataques dos inimigos são visualmente destacados e não ficam muito escondidos no meio da bagunça, a música é boa demais e agrega muito na loucura que é esse gênero de jogos.

Achei ele também bastante acessível pra novos jogadores, porque você pode terminar as suas "runs" e ganhar uns pontos para dar upgrade na sua nave, além de terem 2 modos separados, um ideal para novos jogadores e outro mais "clássico".

No final, é uma recomendação forte, porque a qualidade do jogo é boa e o preço é barato e ainda sinto que tem um bom valor de replay.

Solid shmup, even for a noob like me! Good visuals and color scheme, tons of difficulty options and unlocks that allow you to get better incrementally with each run, and a boppin soundtrack! Give it a shot if you want to check out a fun shmup for novices, and also try the harder difficulties and tone down all the upgrades if you're a pro. Has something for both parties.

接近やカスリなど、危険行為によってガンガンにゲージを回すタイプの段幕シュー。
敵の配置や、敵弾が綺麗にまとまっていて、やればやるほど楽しくなってゆく。

単純に、弾幕が避ける観点からも綺麗な作りなのでそれだけでやりごたえがある。

加えて、メチャンコにグラフィック、ＢＧＭがイカす。
情景に圧倒され、そして鮮烈に耳に残るロッキンなＢＧＭが最高だ。
激しくも、どこか切なく、そして美しい。

そんな中で弾幕に酔いしれろ！
って感じ。

元の値段も高くなく、さらにセールで２コインくらいになるので本当にオススメしたい。

A really good Bullet Hell. It gives you a lot of customizability to play how you need and really let's you get the ropes before you go off the deep end. Also has a good as hell soundtrack. Honestly only real complaints is it can get really busy in a way that makes it hard to see what's happening but that's not that much of an issue, and I think you can tone it down a bit too.

플레이를 반복하다 보면 포인트를 누적하게 되고, 그 쌓인 포인트로 무기 업글하고 목숨도 늘리고 컨티뉴 수도 늘리고 뭐 그정도의 간단한 업글 요소가 있는 슈팅게임입니다. 메탈릭한 어프로치가 있는 음악도 인상적이구요. 전반적으로 괜찮은 작품이긴 한데 패드만 버튼 맵핑이 안되는것 같네요. 폭발 등의 이펙트가 양감이 꽤 커서 가시성이 별로라고 느끼실수도 있겠습니다.

Great game.
Difficulty is just right (can also be tweaked), length and pacing is perfect, enemy projectiles patterns are very well done being challenging but not frustrating.
The soundtrack is phenomenal.
Doing a run with the screen rotated 90 degrees and music blasting at high volume is such a treat.

The frame rate is locked at 57 FPS, causing terrible stuttering at a refresh rate of 60 Hz. That, alone, is sufficient for me to award this game an emphatic thumbs down. Incidentally, the sequel to this game - Danmaku Unlimited 3 - suffers from the exact same issue.

TLDR: This game is awesome.

Story time:

Recently I've been dabbling in game programming (having been a programmer for some years). The type of game I always considered creating was a bullet hell/space shooter/shmup/whatever they are called. Growing up I played both side scrolling (gradius style) and 1942-esque games. This is my first foray into the total bullet hell type game, and I have to say I both suck at them and enjoy them at the same time. It's so much fun to move in and around all the bullets, trying to graze them and get high scores. There's no story to this game (I typically play story driven games) just mindless, arcade fun. I have nothing bad to say about this game. I'm not an expert on shmups, I don't know yet about all the various pieces that make up a good one, but I can say with certainty that if you like this style of game you won't regret it. I'd have paid more for it, but at 4.99 it's really hard to beat.

If you're a newcomer to shmups/STGs (like myself), DU2 should feel like a friendly, stylish introduction to the basics of the genre. You have your ship, the enemy ships, endless rainstorms of projectiles hurled at you, and last but not least - the knock-your-socks-off soundtrack to accompany you on your sortie. It may be a one-person indie game, but it looks good, plays good, and will give you your time-money's worth in spades.

You have a health bar, several lives, and two weapons. There is also a limit-break ("trance mode") bar which turns enemy projectiles into score-boosting stars and empowers your attacks while it lasts. You fly through five levels before you reach the end. Each level has its boss appear mid-level for a brief standoff, only to come back again at the end of the level for a multi-phase showdown.

As the name of the game implies, you will have to weave your way through tons of projectiles, thrown at you at various speeds and trajectories. It's all rather on the slow side, however, and the projectiles tend to be organized in colored patterns (especially in boss fights), which makes dodging them that much easier with focused practice. Also, the projectiles look *really damn neat*, deadly jewels from another dimension-like, and are definitely the standout visual element of the game.

There is a simple rank (level) system to ease you in, with each new rank increasing the number of points you can put into weapon upgrades and life counts for your next run. You'll reach the max rank fairly quickly but it is a welcome sprinkle of permanent progression for the first couple hours that you're out there.

There are four difficulty levels, from easy to extreme. Easy difficulty actually is easy, and normal should be doable for your average gamer with a bit of dedication. These serve as a great stepping stone for hard and extreme. Whether you go in there or move on to other games is up to you, but as per the conventions of the genre, there is something out there waiting for you in the harder modes which cannot be reached otherwise.

There are two game modes, Burst and Classic. The simplest way to put it is, with Burst you get a bullet-cancelling beam that recharges, and with Classic you get an alternate attack (a homing laser that can be fired indefinitely). As an inexperienced player working on a Hard 1CC at the moment of this review, I prefer Burst for the survivability.

A nitpick: The ship designs could be more distinctive, and that combined with the lack of ship animations makes the game look a bit cheap. Also, the ships can be hard to see behind the bullets, which becomes a problem when some of them are trying to kamikaze into you or fly in from the sides.

Closing words: Danmaku Unlimited 2 is a very good game. It has a certain sense of purity to its visual presentation as well as the gameplay - it is refreshing and dignified in its simplicity, like a glass of water. The game is not big, flashy, or complex, nor is it a trailblazing masterpiece for ages to come, but it does its job well, and I'm glad it's there.

This is in the top tier of frenesi-inducing adrenaline-blasting TRUE bullet hell, on pair with with Dodonpachi, some of the Touhou series, Kaikan, Kamui, Thunder Force 3/4 (not BH) and a few others.
I mean, when I think shmups, this game is one of them first to comes to mind. Immense replayability and fun!

Pros:
* Clear, visible bullets and hit-boxes. There is a lot of stuff on the screen but it isn't confusing (if a shmup gets ONE thing right, this should be it)
* Respectable and understandable scoring system where you charge a beam to turn bullets and enemies into multipliers, plus a "buzzing" mechanic where you score for close calls
* I dig the bullet patterns. It's like navigating a hypnotic, murderous fractal
* Difficulty and controls feel right. When you die, it's your fault and you know it.
* A shmup for shmuppers

Cons:
* Pretty enough, but not the prettiest
* The enemies aren't terribly interesting or different from each other.
* I had a little trouble with the control scheme on my gamepad, but it was easily fixed with Joy2Key

In summary:
$5???? This is SO good for $5!! I can't even get full at Taco Bell for $5!!! I would still recommend it at $25. I put 6 hours into this bad boy. That's less than a dollar per hour of fun. Can you name ANYTHING fun that costs less than a dollar per hour????

very fast and very beautiful game, love the lights, love the colors, i'm still not very good at the game but i'm having loads of fun with it! there's also four difficulty settings and two game modes, very accessible, definitely would recommend this as a first bullet hell / shoot em up for others like me who did the battles in undertale and thought "this is pretty fun, where can i get more of this?"

also, some tips for total newbies to the genre (i had to figure out because everyone else already knows):
> the fire button automatically has a turbo, you don't need to mash it, just hold it.
i was mashing for my first maybe 5 levels until i realized it'll fire much faster if i just hold the button i want.
> your hurtbox for your ship is the tiny purple dot at the center, it's fine for bullets to hit the picture of the ship as long as they don't overlap with the dot at the center. (you actually want to be close to the bullets without being hit, you get a bonus for grazing bullets, i.e. having them come inside your innermost shield without getting hit)
> the blue stars are good!
> don't put yourself in the corner!

This game was made by a team who absolutely loves arcade bullet hell's. The ost is also a mix of techno and thrash metal so you will for sure not be disappointed.

Only con:
Be warned that the game is a port from mobile, as such the movement is less intuitive than if you were playing on mobile (MUCH slower). Play on Classic mode if you want to be able to slow down without using your laser (in Burst mode you have a laser that is used for scoring and deleting bullets, but its connected to the slowdown button???)

Danmaku Unlimited 2 is slightly easier than its sequel due to its simpler mechanics. It doesn't make it any less fun though. When this game came out indies were just getting started here on steam and this game could be considered the grandfather of the resurgence of shoot 'em up STG games on the platform.

At the time most thought that old school genres were dead, played out and decrepit. But from the ashes of the pit of the early 2010's a fire shown bright, that old school shooters weren't dead they were simply evolving into something more.

We have games like this to thank for that. Truly inspiring.

I am a big fan of DU3 so I purchased this game to see the developer's progress from DU2 to DU3.

DU3 is sometimes criticized for it's lack of level-depth. I played over 20hrs of DU3, and I can agree that DU3's levels do tend to blur together with all but Level 4 being memorable; in the same vein, DU2 lacks even more level innovation. With Level 5 being the exception with it's backdrop maze of battleships firing predictable bullets whilst other enemies whirl in with homed in shots.

The real beauty of the Danmaku Universe is the mass amount of bullets that never quit feel overwhelming thanks to the ship's loadout and ability to clear bullets, and we can couple this with the fact that many of the bullets exist for purely visual overload and have no bearing on destroying your ship.

Also, everything in these games feel dodge-able. That is a feeling I don't get in a lot of games. The patterns are fairly well defined, and there are few "cheap" shots.

And let's not forget to mention the tick tick tick of bullets grazing your ship. Some shmups have zero grazing feedback and awful recognition for bullet grazing. DU is fair and forgiving. The grazing just feels good. I honestly believe it has to do with the visual and audio cue combo allowing the brain to register it to muscle memory faster.

That Blankfeld level 1 intro music just hits the right atmosphere for the game. Love it. It really ties the series together.

Color palette is top-notch. Bright neon bullets. Ship mucho.

- Graphics are blurry in this one.

Love DU's scoring. No other shmup series really hooked me on scoring. Like this is basically the only one. All other's I only play to git good enough to beat the true final bosses.

Buy it if you like DU3 and want to support the dev, but don't go for DU2 if you haven't played DU3.

All the previous reviews are right: there are barely any sound effects (or they are hidden behind the very loud and very fun soundtrack), but the game itself is very very cool. It is also a great beginner's course for bullet hell, as it features gradual difficulty levels with more beautiful, colourful, deadly shots.

A good variation on the bullet hell classics all in all (with the same kind of scoring, fire modes, etc) but in cheap, neat and tidy.

That soundtrack. Oh my. Lovely synth backed metal. Awesome.
I remember buying this on my iphone years ago and fell in love with it.
On steam, it's just as a I remembered. Trippy visuals with fun bullet patterns.
It's all here, popcorn enemies, middle bosses, and multi stage huge end bosses.
It incorporates a system where you have to play to earn credits to add lives, continues and power up your weapon of choice.
A good Japanese shmup (evidently made by one person...wow) that deserves a play every now and then.
Every self respecting shmup fan needs to have this in their collection.

A fun and short Shoot Em Up game. Graphics are satisfying to look at with explosions and bullet effects, but still readable when there's chaos in the game especially on higher difficulties.

Danmaku Unlimited 2 is a vertically scrolling shooter with one of the better difficulty curves I've played. The game gives the player some time to get used to how the ship moves, how much damage its gun cause and some the more basic enemy bullet patterns early on. Which is great for players like me who often float between shmups and can take a bit to get re-accustomed to any particular game's deal.

Danmaku keeps the game fairly simple save picking between burst and classic modes before starting a game. Which effects the special attack. Additionally, the game awards points to upgrade your next play through with more powerful attacks, lives or even continues. In the actually game is shoot and dodge done quite well. The enemy bullets are very high contrast to everything else on screen with little chance of the player being hit and not seeing it coming.

Speaking the graphics, that perhaps one of the weaker elements. Everything except the enemy projectiles is extremely desaturated and muted in color. An the actual shapes of enemy ships isn't especially impressive either. Fortunately, the game play makes up for it. I rate this a decent shmup, and one of the better ones to get started in the genre for new players.

Not a fan of the cheap sound effects. Your weapons make no sound when you shoot at enemies and explosions are weak. Apparently, this was done in favor of the soundtrack, but it ruined the immersion and experience for me. Felt like I was playing the game on mute with loud rock music blasting in the background. One of things that makes a shmup fun is the satisfying sound of blowing things up, and this game doesn't have any of it.

Nie spodziewałem się zbyt wiele. Zakładałem, że będzie to dla mnie odskocznia od "poważniejszych" tytułów, albo kolejny raz skorzystam z opcji zwrotu. A tu zaskoczenie - gierka sprawiła, że na jakiś czas porzuciłem codzienne treningi w "Crimzon Clover" i to jest chyba wystarczający powód, by ją polecić.

Grafika jest w porządku, ale stylistycznie mi zupełnie nie odpowiada. Muzyka - nie przeszkadza, ale nie jest wybitna, ot taki generyczny metal sobie plumka. Za to pod względem grywalności i patternów pocisków - dla mnie coś świetnego.

Foi uma partida de apenas 9 minutos, mas suficiente pra curtir um bocado o jogo.

É um prato cheio pra quem curte shmups, mais ainda pra fãs de rock, que certamente vão curtir um bocado a trilha sonora.

A ação desde o início é frenética, e faz você querer continuar sem parar(a ost também ajuda).

I love this game; the difficulty curve is just right, the color scheme and danmaku patterns are beautiful, and the Warinside's soundtrack is absolutely amazing.
My only nit-pick is that the upgrade point cap feels extremely low: you get 1400 points, but maxing out any single system takes 700-900 points. This is probably for balance reasons, the game wouldn't be very difficult if you could take dozens of hits before going down or melt through a boss' health bar in seconds, but I suppose I've been conditioned by other games with point-buy systems to be able to max out at least a few stats by the time I hit the cap.

Doesn't work with arcade sticks for whatever reason, which are pretty much the main things a shmup should work with.

So a pretty poor title so far and i'd advise looking at the hundred other great shmups that have zero issues working with arcade sticks.

Well, I bought Danmaku 1 and 2 mainly because they were on sale, and also because more than 90% evaluated them positively.

How could it be possible? I really think people just tried to help the developers of such horrible shmups giving them positive reviews.

セール時は値段が安く、内容はやや地味だが値段を考えると十分楽しい。
Danmaku Unlimited 3はアナログ操作に対応してなく、
Xbox Oneコントローラーでも十字キー操作を強要されるのに対して、
こちらはちゃんとアナログ操作しているのでアケコン使用時にもきちんと操作できる。
