Whilst it can be janky and frustrating at times, its still pretty fun, interesting and unique.
A lovely sandbox of possibilites to explore.

I see some saying its not really an imsim. I kinda got that impression early on but it does eventually transform into something more in line with your imsim expectations. Its much more on the puzzle side of things than combat/stealth (which it does have as well tbf). So it helps if you also like games like Talos principle or Portal.

独立沉浸式模拟游戏（Immersive Sim，下面简称IS），非常标准的IS，IS招牌的几个内容它基本都有，内容完成度也不差，但我玩下来体验实在不太行，不是这类游戏爱好者的没必要玩，我估计评价高是因为IS游戏太少，玩IS的看到这种完成度的高兴都来不及不可能挑刺。我尽量说得简洁一些。
首先是游戏玩法，核心是附身。在游玩过程中除了操作主角外还可以附身其余各类设备（包括友好单位、敌人、开关、箱子……），附身需要消耗点数，点数可以通过首次附身友好设备、开宝箱、杀怪等获取，有一定的资源管理要素。主要操控的单位可以使用收集到的碟片和蛀虫进行超能力获取和升级，超能力种类繁多，有飞行有隐身有枪械有吃尸体有抓取物体等等，使用超能力消耗果汁。游戏总共八章加上三周年新增的独立关卡（似乎是废案）。后者风格完全不同，没有文本，没有引导，没有目标，玩起来莫名其妙，不推荐。只分析本体。
先说地图设计。毁了跑图体验的是飞行超能力。不耗蓝条，无限飞行，一个房间内做什么结构都没区别，到处都能飞，所以立体性别想了，玩起来更类似分层、每层内分房间的平面迷宫式箱庭。不同房间之间的连通方式差强人意，不少区域设计是环形结构加上有两个出入口，这样你从两个口里任意选一个然后走一圈都能推完并解锁另一个口，非常经典，这种环形箱庭虽然公式但确实没几个游戏做。第七章CR就是这样每层都是环形结构，不同层完成顺序任意，并且像其余IS一样地图里设施都有明确功能性（标了工程层、接待处、居民区等）。毕竟不是纯线性，环形结构可以正走反走，但玩起来不比纯线性感觉有趣多少，因为这地图里的美术和填充的内容设计无聊到让我感觉正走反走都一个样啊！
接着是收集物安排，我只能说无聊透顶，完全没有舔图找收集物的欲望。
然后再说玩法。基于附身设计了开门、操控敌人、获取信息的玩法，但都很基础简单。要求玩家在不同能力中选一种有用的从而打出适合自己风格的流程也是IS游戏的惯常套路了，这游戏也是如此。但这个游戏的战斗实在太无聊了，我点了冲撞就在那大脑放空瞄着敌人撞，也没别的选择，毫无技术含量。战斗除了冲撞之外还有非常耗蓝的枪和传送一台设备过来再附身上设备代打把敌人变成炸弹等选择，但无一例外我觉得都很没深度，偏偏最后两章还经常有战斗，玩起来就是进新区域，创人，创完了后搜地图，非常公式化，附身机制的发挥极其模板且受限，游玩体验实在不太好。
剧情。确实是IS常用的碎片叙事和环境叙事，但这整个世界观和故事都极为无聊，东一榔头西一棒槌毫无记忆点，游戏流程中剧情毫无存在感，多分支的流程更是只存在于梦里，我就没看出这游戏给流程做出过分支。
收集物和引导。烂中烂，就是路上给你不断塞宝箱，引导都是软引导，都得看玩家脑子有没有坏掉，第八章收集bugmind的防火墙关不掉我卡半天，后来去网上搜发现这个防火墙就关不了。
总之是有想法的游戏，但是我玩起来感觉只能说一般，评论尬吹太严重。

As a lover of Immersive Sims I genuinely thought I would like this game with how much it boasts about being one, but having given it a try it is just WAY too easy to softlock yourself.

Everything you do requires Ego, you can't progress the game without it. But when Ego is both the currency you spend to respawn/refuel/heal AND the currency you need to open doors and progress the game, you will run into situations where you have a string of bad luck, respawn and heal up, then suddenly don't have the ego you need to progress.

The game even gives you a hard time before major "bosses", insisting it's impossible to "Fail" the game, but then you run into a situation where the boss has stolen all of your bots, you have no more ego to respawn with, and you've already collected all the Ego on the map.
If there's a supposed way to get out of situations like this that isn't save scumming then I can't find it.

Combine this with an incredibly unintuitive and compact save menu and it is also incredibly easy to lose track of what saves to load back into, potentially losing hours of progress.

For as much as this game won't shut up about "playing your way", it sure does feel like it punishes every possible way of playing.
What is the point of respawn stations and healing/energy refills if buying them means I can no longer progress?

Recomendado si disfrutas de que te dejen resolver las cosas a tu manera. Prey, Deus Ex,..son los grandes juegos que se me ocurren en esto de darte sistemas y que tú te las apañes para no pegar un tiro si eso es lo que quieres o, sin penalizaciones, hacer todo lo contrario. Este juego entra directamente en esa liga sin haber hecho nada de ruido y haber pasado totalmente desapercibido.
A mi me convencieron las reseñas aquí escritas y la mía va por el mismo camino. Es un juego sorprendente. Confieso que en las primeras horas estaba un poco dudoso. El juego empieza muy abajo, enseñándote todo desde el principio. Pero nunca deja de subir. Me ha durado 20 horas y aún podría darle otra vuelta. Tiene "nueva partida" con modificaciones y sorpresas. A las 10 horas pensaba que se acababa, narrativa y mecánicamente, y de repente la historia continua y te suelta en un tremendo nivel de varios pisos de mundo abierto. Ahí ya me dejó convencido de todo, porque todo lo que había hecho era aprender para poder sobrevivir en ese capítulo, que casi dura tanto como todo lo que acabas de jugar. No me lo esperaba y eso es algo valoro. Por eso digo que nunca deja de subir. Hasta el último nivel aporta cosas nuevas. El mundo que al principio era raro y feo acaba teniendo una personalidad increíble. Y mucho sentido, hacia el final se aclaran muchas cosas. Por eso este juego es tan bueno, no decae, te da un montón de formas de resolver las cosas, escenarios interesantes, mecánicas que funcionan, muy bien además y de muchas formas diferentes, una estética con mucho humor que emplea tropos conocidos de sci-fi pero que hace su propio remix con buen gusto.
Toda una joya oculta inesperada.

Ctrl Alt Ego é um immersive sim (inclusive, o primeiro que eu joguei) e se passa dentro de uma estação espacial que parece ter saído direto de um episódio de Doctor Who. O mapa é muito bem interconectado, cheio de atalhos e caminhos alternativos, e os visuais têm um charme próprio que eu gostei bastante.

Um dos pontos mais altos aqui (além das várias fotos de gatinhos espalhadas pelo mapa) é a quantidade de formas diferentes de resolver um mesmo problema. Dá pra ir pela opção mais barata, mas perigosa; pela mais cara, porém segura; ou então usar a criatividade e encontrar soluções que muitas vezes conseguem ser eficientes, seguras e econômicas ao mesmo tempo.

As opções mais criativas não são só bem-vindas, como também incentivadas. O jogo oferece inúmeros recursos para isso, já que você é uma consciência capaz de controlar (ctrl) diversas máquinas. Há, por exemplo, os “cachorrinhos”, que permitem passar por lugares menores ou explorar o ambiente de forma mais discreta. Existem também os “pais”, que não possuem mobilidade, mas compensam com um alto poder de ataque. Porém, o grande destaque vai para os bugs, mais especificamente o Bug-22, um lindo robô vermelho com espaço para disquetes, que funcionam como melhorias. Essas melhorias vão desde a capacidade de voar até uma shotgun, abrindo um enorme leque de possibilidades durante as fases.

Mas nem tudo é de graça. Primeiro, porque praticamente todo mundo quer destruir os bugs, já que eles foram banidos. Segundo, porque, para controlar esses robôs, você precisa de “ego”, um recurso encontrado ao longo das fases. Sem ego, sem ctrl.

Eu me diverti muito com Ctrl Alt Ego, um jogo que incentiva a criatividade com criatividade, que te dá uma liberdade verdadeira de fazer o que bem entender. “Se você se encontrar pensando ‘isto parece que não foi intencional’, então pare de pensar isso imediatamente. A very good imsim with a focus on puzzle solving. The opening is rough and it's easy to bounce off of it, but stick with it and very soon the controls/mechanics start coming together. I really enjoyed a "stealth grenadier" playstyle, loudly killing every enemy I could find without ever being noticed. It's a fun time.

Loved the creativity and personal touch that went into every detail of this game. The gameplay hook is truly innovative, and it made me feel like I was playing the original System Shock for the first time again.

In Ctrl Alt Ego, you're a disembodied digital consciousness that can possess machines and robots. Possessing hostile robots costs EGO, a currency you accumulate by possessing various random "friendly" objects like tablets.

While technically you don't really have a body, in practice there's a robot named BUG 22 which you use to do most things. Unlike other robots in the game, BUG 22 can be upgraded by collecting floppy disks and worms. Disks give you new abilities; worms upgrade those abilities.

There's a fair amount of combat in the game, and BUG 22 is mostly not very good at combat, though you can unlock 2 weapons and a damage shield. For the most part you'd rather possess robots that are more combat oriented, like the MUMs and DADs, and use those to fight. There are also other ways of inflicting damage on enemies, like throwing explosive cannisters and placing BUG Traps along an enemy patrol path.

There are multiple ways to accomplish most things in the game, though in vey broad terms they boil down to "possess or kill." Theoretically you can also sneak, but I rarely found that very viable compared to a more brute-force approach. A few situations benefit from moving objects around using a tractor-beam attachment, or a limited-range teleport ability.

The game's chock full of programmer jokes. Robots called BUGs, picking up literal worms rather than worm software, levels named after programming practices, and programming-adjacent commentary on various tablets.

There's a lot of hidden stuff on each level, some of it is very, very well hidden. It can be a bit infuriating to see the level-exit monitor says you haven't collected 4 Worms on a level, or worse missed a disk, and you have absolutely no idea where to look because you thought you searched everywhere. On the positive side, there are more disks than you can actually use, and it's not really necessary to upgrade everything, so missing a few things isn't crippling.

I have two main gripes. I don't like the art much. The BUGs, MUMs, and DADs are all very crude models. The other is that large sections of the game are entirely too dark. Holding down CTRL brightens everything, in addition to showing you all the machines you can possess, but it's still often painful navigating the darker corners of the game.

A minor gripe is that the story takes a while to get moving, and the ending when it comes is rather abrupt and unsatisfying.

Still, overall it's a pretty good game, and the possession mechanic is something you don't see very often in games.

While the genre definition of Immersive Sim is vague, i wouldn't consider this an Immersive Sim. It's closer to an Escape Room/Puzzle Game. The main mechanic didn't really click with me. The store page advertises this game with Deus Ex and System Shock. If you buy this looking for a game like that you will probably be disappointed just like i was. Expect something more along the lines of Portal, Quantum Conundrum or C.U.B.E. Hopefully the Messiah-like main mechanic will draw you in more than me.

Una piccola gemma di game design che prende la base di giochi come Deus Ex, System Shock e Prey per creare qualcosa con una propria identità ed un gameplay che sfrutta bene anche il motore fisico.
Il sistema alla base di tutto il gioco è l'Ego, cioè il fatto di esistere come entità non corporea con la libertà di proiettarsi verso i dispositivi elettronici che ci possono ospitare e che potremo a quel punto controllare. Ovviamente non potremo controllare tutto "gratuitamente" perché non solo noi abbiamo un ego, lo hanno pure le IA che abitano la struttura in cui si svolge l'avventura. Quindi possiamo assorbire l'ego delle unità meno evolute e non ostili, per poi spenderlo sui nemici e farli diventare nostri avatar.

Ogni oggetto che finisce sotto il nostro controllo ci fornisce nuovi punti di vista sulle stanze, ci permette di esplorare senza mettere a rischio il corpo principale (che è comunque lontano dalla "mortalità" della carne e possiamo ristamparlo presso le tante stampanti 3D) e questo permette al gioco di spostare il focus dai classici "sto sempre nascosto" o "esco e spacco tutto" a qualcosa di molto più ibrido, spontaneo e creativo.

Ad esempio potremo proiettarci in una stanza raggiungendo un distributore automatico, poi saltare verso un tablet (da cui ottenere info utili) e da lì controllare una telecamera che attraverso una finestra può vedere un robottino di servizio all'interno di una stanza più lontana e ci permette di controllarlo, così da aprire una porta bloccata o attivare la stampante 3D dove rigenerare il nostro avatar "abituale". Il tutto in pochissimi click perché il sistema di controllo si basa quasi tutto sul colpo d'occhio e sul fatto che ogni cosa controllata ha funzioni chiare e specifiche.

Il nostro corpo/avatar abituale non è comunque solo un guscio vuoto utile a farci spostare, ma ha la possibilità di installare diversi programmi che ci forniranno capacità extra. La cosa interessante sta nella totale libertà lasciata al giocatore e ai vari utilizzi possibili per queste abilità extra.
Ad esempio la capacità di volo tramite propulsori può essere usata anche in combattimento diventando noi stessi un "ariete a razzo"; oppure possiamo usare un raggio traente (tipo telecinesi) per spostare oggetti pesanti (anche in testa ai nemici se serve); o ottenere un aspirapolvere che inghiotte e converte in energia le parti dei robot distrutti; o anche un sistema di download per proiettarci al di là di fessure o di creare oggetti/robot utili; ecc
E il gioco lascia tanta libertà di sperimentazione su questi poteri e la loro interazione con il mondo di gioco, dove ovviamente non mancano classici del genere come condotti di ventilazione, interruttori, codici da trovare, vie alternative e altro.

Graficamente può sembrare molto semplice, ma il look del gioco permette di avere sempre una lettura abbastanza immediata di quanto abbiamo attorno, e lo stile "anni 70" è abbastanza unico nel panorama attuale.
Menzione speciale invece merita il lato audio, con gli effetti sonori che forniscono tantissimi aiuti per percepire ed identificare la posizione di nemici e oggetti utili mentre saltiamo da un apparecchio all'altro.

La storia principale si completa in un 15-20 ore, a seconda di quanto si voglia "ripulire" ogni area, e si merita ogni minuto.
Consigliatissimo a chi apprezza il genere e vuole provare qualcosa di diverso.

Stop calling every game that has physics with a small variation of how you can finish levels IMSIM, it's misleading.

a great puzzle sim, with plenty of variety in solution and problems the player must overcome. if i had to make a complaint it is that one to many times i spent lot of time solving a section to get through it only to find i had already reached the end by some other means and had essentially backtracked (though it always gave me some logs, worms, etc).

Вот этот разгон о том, что "ИмЕрСиФф СиМы ДлЯ уМнИх" уже конкретно зaeбaл. Это даже не жанр, а механика в играх, которые я по старой памяти привык называть "бегалки-бродилки". Эта игра заигрывает с этими ожиданиями проговаривая в самом начале, что все твои "крайне изобретательные" методы прохождения были продуманы заранее и от тебя лишь требуется до них додуматься. Это очень приятная честность, в отличие от игр, к примеру, Arkane, которые тебе говорят, что в них надо играть творчески и самовыражаясь(это как вообще?). Ну, и ещё тут умышленно прямым текстом проговаривается фраза, что ты в "иммерсивной симуляции", чтоб максимально опошлить все эти ожидания. Хочется верить в это, по крайней мере.

Позиционирование подкрепляется соответствующими механиками. Вся игра состоит из изучения космической станции и ни из чего больше. Буквально. В игре просто интересно находить входы в разные помещения, искать там прокачки для робота-дoлбoeбa и по-разному дурить врагов. Не везде это одинаково хорошо сделано, конечно. К примеру, как только под контроль можно получить вирус, то вся игра превращается в беспорядочную прыготню вокруг врагов с целью высасывания их эго с дальнейшим их взятием под контроль. Этот вирус ещё и летать свободно может во всех направлениях и протискиваться в цели, что почти полностью убирает необходимость управлять багом. Благо, что такая читерная механика возможна только в одной главе.

Сеттинг и сюжет представляет собой влажную мечту программистов-aнaльникoв о том, что было бы, если бы они перестали сдерживать кaкaшeчкy и смогли бы весь мир превратить в информацию. Я с этой породой людей немного общался и согласен, что они размышляют такими категориями. Тут понаставлена куча шуток "для своих", чтобы ламеры побесились от своей неграмотности, но и для того, чтоб в начале игры создать ошибочное впечатление о сломе четвёртой стены. Короче говоря, меньше говори своему сисадмину, что ты чё-то нажал и всё сломалось и тогда не захочет потереть резервную копию остатков твоих мозгов.

Ещё кое-что: для полноты картины, на время прохождения желательно питаться только фруктовыми энергетиками и энергетическими батончиками, чтоб уж точно погрузиться по самые гланды.

Ctrl Alt Ego is a really good game, but it has some issues.
The merging station level is just straight up a bad level, it is not fun and I do not enjoy playing through it.
Worst part of the game and made me take a small little break cause it was just not fun and goes against the entire immersive sim concept imo.

The powers are also weirdly inconsistent. I can find a lot of legitimate uses for them and there is a lot of creative stuff you can do within the constraints of the sandbox. But I often find myself not even bothering with using the powers available to me.
The short game time and how cost intensive these powers are means you really do have to play conservatively to properly use them. There is also a heavy cost to upgrading some of them to a state where they can actually provide you with more tangable long term puzzle solutions. Such as the ability to download and print objects costing a lot of worms just to do what I would consider pretty basic stuff.

The biggest issue in my opinion is the solutions to all the puzzles are fundementally the same, often boiling down to 2 choices. One choice for no powers and one choice that either requires a specific power or to kill another bot.
The immersive sim stuff is more how you get to the objective and in this regard the game is very open and offers creative solutions, though more often than not I had a feeling I was abusing glitches or doing stuff in an unintended way to win.

I also take issue in the fact that the bad bug enemies in the second half of the game instantly spot you the moment they make eye contact. I think the lack of a grace period is seriously limiting for the player on the first playthrough and forces a pretty boring and slow playstyle of scouting ahead with the pup for most of the gameplay. Pup scouting all the time isn't exactly what I would say is super fun since you can't do much outside looking around.

With all that said I think the game is a very solid experience and is one of the more competent immersive sim experiences I have played, I can tell the developer is very talented and knows what makes a good immersive sim not just enjoyable but also stimulating to break apart and learn.
I know a lot of the levels inside out now and I think the level design for the most part is VERY good, and the stuff you have to do to get around certain obstacles without powers was a blast (not looking at you merging station)

I know I probably phrase this review in a way that make it sound like a pretty negative experience but I genuinely think it is a game you should experience if you like immersive sims. This game is really good and I believe if the sequel irons out most of the issues I have with this one, it will probably be one of the best immersive sim games on the market.

A solid 8/10, maybe not as good as I have heard people say it is.
But a very good game that makes me hungry for a sequel.

Ctrl Alt Ego is a masterpiece built by freeform jank. I cheesed so much of my playthough and found so many fascinating ways to approach the whole puzzle box.

The basic concept is that you are a computer programme, infiltrating various different spaceships etc. You have a BUG (the little red robot guy) and you can possess many other things (MANY) for a resource called ego. This manages to be both incredibly cerebral, with mechanics and plot balancing each other perfectly, and immediately compelling in all of the activities which lead up to a plan - or an attempt at one. One of the most complex immersive sims out there, but so easy to pick up and play.

The art style and writing is pitch perfect for something like Doctor Who meets Cyperpunk existential nightmare via Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. This kind of vibe does exist elsewhere, in early British sci-fi and maybe some early Star Trek, but I have never seem it translated to a video game. It's very charming, sometimes unsettling and often hilarious.

The only real fault I can lay at this game's feet is that there are slumps if you really ♥♥♥♥ up a few approaches. You will always be able to find a way out, but if you aren't playing strategically, the game will be a less fun (but still fun) grind at times. Idk if that's a game problem or an "I suck" problem tbqh tho.

Has the foundation for a brilliant game, but is ruined by literally 1 bad mechanic that permeates throughout the entire game.

The mechanic in question happens every time you possess an enemy (which you'll be doing frequently to solve puzzles), you can move for about 5 seconds before the surrounding enemies' bother meter fills up and you then have to stand still for another 5-ish seconds to wait for it to go down to zero. Sometimes the game gives you stealth options to avoid filling the bother meter, but most of the time it gives you a room of 3 DADs all with direct lines of sight to each other, and you then have to play the game of trying to solve the puzzle 5 seconds at a time while constantly hearing "STRAAAAANGE" and "WHO APPROVED THAAAAAT" on repeat (the DADs' only 2 voice lines, repeated ad nauseum in an obnoxious British voice).

In practice, this means roughly half of your play time is spent standing still doing absolutely ♥♥♥♥ all waiting for the enemies' bother to drop down. I got to the 5th chapter, realised I had about half the game left after the past 13 hours felt like 130 and decided I had enough. The way the Fault and Download mechanics interacted was awesome (plus the virus upgrade you could get for the Fault made it even better), and the possession mechanics in general are a great foundation for a puzzler/imsim; so its a shame the game around those mechanics is ruined by one of the most braindead design decisions I've seen in a game.

(Also didn't even mention the amount of times you can get softlocked for a single mistake, making you restart the puzzle which means even MORE waiting around doing nothing! YAY!!!)

It can be overwhelming, and I never felt like all its systems fully clicked with me, but it had me fully engaged the whole time. Voice acting is pretty great for an indie too.

Incredibly unique and fun. The ego-possession system is unlike anything I've seen and it combined with your BUGs diverse toolkit allows you to tackle each level in a variety of ways. While it can be janky it feels so in a stylistic and purposeful way, and the story while basic has some fun programmer humor. Great game that deserves more recognition.

I felt strongly about this game so I just wanted to write a bit about why this is a great one.

As someone new to immersive sims, I wasn’t sure whether the unique mechanics here would actually feel immersive, but once I started I was locked in. Figuring out how to navigate each level without getting caught, discovering all the hidden details, and experimenting with different approaches was just pure fun. The game is a very linear one but the way you go about completing the game feels like there are just endless possibilities and that's where the immersion comes from, at least for me. It's wild how immersed I was considering the type of being you are in the game. And the voice acting for Dr. Everyman was absolutely perfect for the setting and vibe.

I don't know if this appeals to all immersive sim fans but this was one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences.

My first playthrough was a full-stealth run, and it was absolutely my favorite. While I was playing I could not wait to get back on to continue. Some of the achievements after the first run were super fun to chase as well.

Crtl Alt Ego es de esos juegos que “no conoce” nadie y que hay que poner remedio cuanto antes. Desarrollado por tan solo 5 personas (según los créditos) han creado uno de los mejores “Inmersive Sim” que he jugado en cuanto a libertad de acción.
Aquí realmente no controlamos a un único personaje, ya que somos una especie de “ente consciente” con el cual podremos hackear todo tipo de máquinas. Cada máquina tiene una función, y se nos darán muchísimas situaciones donde podremos ser bastante creativos para solventar los problemas. A veces será necesario el sigilo, otras la fuerza bruta y muchas veces bastará con la observación.
En mecánicas me ha recordado un poco (salvando las distancias) a una versión superelaborada de Scrapland de Mercury Steam, ya que iremos cambiando de robots para según que situación. Otras veces directamente iremos saltando de cámara en cámara, (algo similar a los Watch Dogs) para llegar a los sitios incorpóreamente para luego imprimirnos un cuerpo en otra estancia y seguir desde ahí.

Los desarrolladores te avisan desde bien pronto, que en el juego no hay manera de jugar correcta o incorrecta, depende de ti. Pero lo cierto es que el juego es muy orgánico en la manera en que te van dirigiendo en tus objetivos. Eso sí, como en todo buen Simulador inmersivo que se precie, aquí la observación es clave, y más si lo juegas sin ayudas, ya que tendrás que usar tus ojos para encontrar las cosas importantes. En este sentido me ha recordado mucho a System Shock Remake. Y es que la sensación de ser tú el que descubre las cosas está muy bien conseguido.
Lo he jugado en dificultad Estricta (hay aun una más por encima) y con las ayudas desactivadas. No he necesitado del uso de ninguna guía a pensar de que pensé que igual me había columpiado un poco al seleccionar dicho modo de juego, y sí que es cierto que jugándolo así exige bastante atención por parte del jugador, pero al menos para mí es parte de la gracia del juego, no te lleva mucho de la mano.

Globalmente, no me parece mejor que otros exponentes del género, ya que aquí la historia sin ser mala, no está tan elaborada como en otros juegos como Prey 2016, Dishonored o Deus Ex por ejemplo, pero en general tiene calidad y merito para estar entre los grandes. Por ejemplo a nivel de diseño de escenarios y posibilidades es que está MUY currado, sobre todo los 2 últimos capítulos que son bastante grandes, (lástima que estén cortados mediante tiempos de carga). Nuevamente, en esto igual no llega a la salvajada que es el mapa de System Shock Remake, o de Prey 2016, pero es que es un juego debut de un equipo indie de 5 personas, y que hayan creado tan bien el escenario y todas sus mecánicas jugables funcionen tan bien, tiene un mérito del copón.

Pese a que antes he dicho que no hay un personaje propiamente dicho, es una mentira a medias. Llevaremos en todo momento un robot (llamado 22), que este sí que iremos mejorando mediante disquetes de ampliación de programas, que nosotros decidiremos como invertir según el estilo de juego que queramos. En la dificultad que he jugado, al menos la faceta de combate no la veo muy útil, pues la escopeta parece de juguete y los enemigos no hacen más que recargarse la vida. En dificultad normal creo que esto no ocurre e igual ahí enfrentamiento directo es algo más útil. Además, dichas habilidades tienen muchos niveles de mejora.
Al ir hackeando elementos del escenario nos van dando "Ego" que podríamos decir que es la “munición” del juego, con ello haremos casi todo, ya que para hackear enemigos y algunos elementos necesitamos Ego, que recuperamos hackeando otros componentes.

Mención especial a la localización al español, con textos de pantallas, cartelería y pintadas en las paredes traducido al español físicamente, es decir, no mediante subtítulos al mirar una palabra en inglés como ocurre en otros juegos.
Los gráficos en general no son nada del otro mundo, pero tampoco me han parecido malos, son simplemente “básicos”, pero desde luego que tiene unos gráficos y estilo bastante particulares.

La banda sonora tampoco destaca demasiado, pero la verdad es que los efectos de sonido sí que me han gustado en general, y casa muy bien con el tono tan desenfadado que tiene todo el juego en sí.

En definitiva, es el primer juego de este estudio llamado Mind Thunk y espero que no sea el último, porque es una carta de presentación brutal y se me hace raro que esté causando tan poco revuelo. No es una obra maestra, y para alguien que se adentre en el género por primera vez recomendaría antes juegos más “normales”, pero desde luego que es un juego que hay que tener MUY en cuenta y debería de tener mucho más calado del que tiene.

It's a janky game. usually in a fun or neutral way, but sometimes in a very bad way. At first this was a not recommend, slowly clawed its way to a recommend, actually started having some good fun in the back half, then the ending shot all goodwill I had in the head by having a horrific trifecta. [spoiler] "Far faster enemies swarming while you float in space with limited resources," "you need to find a random unmarked item in a random corner of the level without even knowing what you're looking for" and "congrats it was all a dream, except somehow worse." [/spoiler]

But even without that, it's an open puzzle game but I rarely got satisfaction from the puzzles. Like the first time I got stuck I eventually gave in to look up a guide. half an hour of digging through guides and videos later (and a comment from a dev telling someone else it was optional without even a hint), I eventually find someone who doesn't give up!...because the obstacle I ran into didn't exist in thier launch version. another half an hour later, I finally solve it. I'd put the crates into the marked zone like I was supposed to, looked through the window like I was supposed to...but apparently I was slightly too far left to see the HOP point through the window. so I didn't feel clever, just glad it was over, and that wouldn't be the last time that happened.

Honestly that's how I feel about the game in general. The movement and jumping is really cool, non-optional puzzles seem to always have a few ways through...but I like it when I beat a puzzle and think that the dev and/or I are really clever. and I don't get that, so imo a large chunk of it falls flat. There was at least the story, which I did enjoy and kept me pushing forward excitedly figuring it out!...until the end made me wish I'd never played this game.

I wish I could give it a meh. But since it's so hyped, I have to give it a no and say it's not terrible, but for all the praise it gets, I found my time with it to be like this:

First attempt at playing it: What the hell is this and why are the physics awful.

Second attempt: OK I think I understand, and I can make the physics less annoying by at least lessening how they affect the camera. It was enjoyable for a while, but I would not call it an immersive sim, as it is an open ended puzzle game. I am not immersing myself in a simulated world, I am just solving puzzles in separated levels. Also, to say there is freedom to explore options is a vast oversell. Every option you explore drains a very finite resource that you eventually will run out of options available. And that's where I stopped playing. I got 6 hours out of it at this point, and I enjoyed 4 of them. Not worth full price in my opinion.

coolest game ever, ofc. spends at least a while as an at least somewhat tight (if obviously vastly open ended) problem-solving game with a bunch of self contained rooms containing their own main issue for u to solve with ur limited but hyper flexible tools. if the whole game was like that, itd certainly be good...all the tools and elements are well considered, and everything is covered in a layer of jank that sometimes ends up actually increasingly the flexibility (or at least, its a worthy tradeoff). after a certain point tho, the game seems to acknowledge that u have had enough time to become an omni-talented Beast, and shifts itself around to emphasize all the interconnected exploration you can do now that every obstacle is a mere suggestion. there still are a few problem solving parts, but the game rly thoughtfully starts to ramp up its other strengths as soon as the player is starting to outpace it as a challenge...and if anything , it feels like a reward. its massive and entirely cohesive seventh chapter is pure exploratory bliss, one of the best Game Experiences ive had in ages...the location is so well-realized, i couldnt help but take my time to see everything i could. both parts of the game are continually fun and surprising, and really complete eachother

but my favorite thing is likely just how it feels...all your bodies are so clunky and strange, you can get used to them but there is Always a slight layer of disconnect that befits the central concept...it rly rly scratches something in my proclivities, not my healthiest ones perhaps, but something ive never felt prodded at by a game before...it has been a strange comfort in times like the present, where i am not fully dissociative but feel slightly distanced from the world around me, like im interfacing with it through a layer of seperation and noise

if u Just want the challenging problem solving stuff, id recommend teardown more than this, but the amount of reckless room this game makes for the player is just continually blissful. just an endlessly lovable gem...the jank, the ultra-specific nature of the humor and aesthetic influences, and the pictures of the dev's cat that accompany the achievements

[h1] Ctrl Alt Ego: My Full Review [/h1]

Normally I don't go this hard when reviewing something but this game deserves it. In short, this is one of the best immersive sims I have ever played, going up against Prey and even Cruelty Squad. And that's for a number of different reasons. This is probably my longest and more organised review I've written for a game but I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel like it deserves it.

[h3] 1. The Premise Is Amazing [/h3]

Essentially, the main idea of the game is that humanity has digitized itself into computerized "Ego" that can transfer between different robot hosts at will. You are a rouge ego being led by a mysterious scientist to try and dismantle the nefarious corporation that presumably has control over most human egos and return humanity to a flesh and blood state. Personally, I love the storytelling of this game. It is surreal, lightly dystopian, rather tongue-in-cheek sometimes and just a very fun world that makes you want to unravel it's mysteries. Even though the focus isn't particularly on the story, it is still enjoyable to uncover and I found the scientist who "accompanies" you (Dr. Everyman), to be a very fun sidekick and an enjoyable partner. But, as I said before, the story isn't the main focus.

[h3] 2. It Holds Up Against Other Immersive Sims [/h3]

This game is good. Really good. So good that it has been compared to games like System Shock, or even Prey. And while I love both of those games and think that the comparisons are mostly fair, I think it is better compared to Cruelty Squad, possibly the greatest Immersive Sim ever made. And this is because of the movement. It's janky. It's intentionally janky. In the menu, there is a setting for motion sickness that the developer recommends that you not touch unless you need it because it goes against the creative design of the game. You are the rouge ego of a human consciousness that has been crammed into a machine. It's hard to master, but once you do, you'll find yourself blazing through the latter half of the game, hopping between robots and finding ways to use the jank in your favor. Cruelty Squad works in a similar way with the Grappendex. I've found that physics in immersive sims are some of the most fun I can have and I love coming up with cool ways to mess around with the physics of a game engine in my favor. And that is what this game is all about.

[h3] 3. It's Just Fun [/h3]

The way this game approaches open-ended problem solving is ingenious. In one level, you need to take a train to a shuttle station but the bridge is guarded by some nasty turrets. How would you get past all those? Why not farm ego from the robots around the area and use a stealth cloak to hide yourself from the turrets? Do you hate stealth? Use the ego you farmed to get a shotgun for some good old reliable spray-and-pray. Do you keep dying? Why not use the ego to control all the cameras and alarms so the turrets are never even activated. Don't have enough ego? Just control one turret and slowly pick off the patrolling machines one by one. You got spotted? Well why not rig the train with explosives and blow all the turrets up in one fell swoop and just walk to the station undisturbed. All of these are viable options and the game doesn't care which one you do. It won't shame you for going in guns blazing and there's no bad ending if you choose to do so. It presents itself as a stealth game "if you want it to be." I had fun slowly going through levels like hardcore stealth gauntlets (especially during the last two chapters. The second to last chapter was my absolute favorite) but then when things inevitably went south, I was forced to change my strategy on the fly and it lead to some pretty intense shootouts. And both of them were fun. I would come up with a perfect plan and it would be going swimmingly, but I would get over confident or miss one detail and have to quickly change my strategy to survive the encounter. And it was glorious. No matter if I was near-effortlessly gliding past security or blasting my way through a level like I was Terror Billy, I was having fun.

[h3] Do I recommend this game? [/h3]

Yes. Obviously. I know I was VERY long winded but that's because this game deserves more attention and deserves to be talked about more. Mindthunk created something weird and amazing and I can't wait to see what they do next. This game is amazing and if you like games that allow you to be creative and make you really think about your next moves, this is the game for you.

TLDR; Buy this game. It is worth it.

So first off, it is not am immersive sim. An immersive sim is meant to immerse you into the environment through having sensible game mechanics that you can use and abuse. So for example, there are hostile bots right? Well these hostile bots can be distracted, and you can hack into little walkmans. What would the sensible game design be? To turn the walkmans on, creating noise through music that would cause them to fixate on the object (and perhaps turn it off) allowing you to slip pass. Is this a thing you can do? No.

And the game pats itself on the back smugly for being a game that "allows multiple approaches" but there were a lot of times when I felt like I was lacking in tools and options to actually proceed and I felt like a monkey with a hammer trying to cram a square peg into a round hole.

The game did not manage to build up an interesting world, setting, lore or characters really. There's one dude who talks to you occasionally but you yourself is just... I dunno, a bot? A bug? An ego? What does any of it mean? :shrug:

The game claims that people worked here but there isn't enough evidence of it and everything feels overly clean to a fault where it just doesn't feel genuine as a world people would inhabit. It's too gamey.

So I didn't really understand who I were. I didn't understand the space station I was on. I didn't understand the bots that they used or how a giant singular virus can even exist. And at a certain point I was so disinterested in the world that I stopped reading the notepads and computer texts (show, don't tell).

The game also has this... I'm not gonna say "comedic" design to it because that would imply that there is comedy, and if this is comedy then, wow the dev(s) and me have completely different ideas on what comedy is. No it isn't comedic, the game just doesn't feel like it takes itself seriously enough. Like. It isn't anything. The bots are all cute and cartoonishly designed and the text is eccentric and flippant but, there's no actual comedy. So it just feels like a long bad dry joke that doesn't land.

Gameplay is kinda annoying. You get tools, sure, you have no idea what they are and what they do until you spend a (rare) disc to unlock them (think of them as aug canisters from deus ex) and try them out for yourself and when you do a lot of the tools' usability is questionable. I got a tool that allowed me to turn small objects into destructive devices, but I rarely found any point in using them as other tools are better and less prone to just blowing up in your face.

And uh... You might clip out of pipes... Like, big round mario pipes right? yeah we got those in the game and if you're in one of them and use a tool (like the shotgun) then your player character model (the bug) gets so erratic that it might clip out of the model.

You also can't just open doors or use save terminals, you need to hop from your bug to the terminal to save even though you have an arm you can interact with things with.

At a certain point I just kinda dragged on like a zombie until I finally had enough of the game. It's just not fun for all of the reasons I just stated and more I can't be bothered to type out.

If you want an immersive sim, just go replay System Shock 2 or 1 remake if you want the sci fi feel.
If you want a good first person puzzle game then go play Supraland.

While it does have that unprecedented level of freedom in how to solve your problems, the game is, fundamentally, a puzzle game. There really isn't much of an outside world to be "immersed" in, just a series of open-ended puzzles. Calling this an im-sim does sort of misunderstand or undersell what that genre is. So how does it play as a puzzle game? Well, your mileage may vary - the aggregate rating clearly suggests plenty of people enjoyed the game, but for me it wore thin fairly quickly, and I think it still would have even if my expectations were more in line with the actual content of the game.

The main mechanic here is that you project your consciousness into various electronic devices and control them to accomplish your tasks and/or get to the next area. This costs a resource called Ego, which you collect in the overworld as orbs, and also by hopping into certain things. For things that require physical intervention, you have a companion robot, but he is entirely replaceable, able to be destroyed and rebuilt at will at any 3D printer.

Sound cool? Sometimes it is! There's a level where you can complete everything but the final room (I think) by body-hopping through bots, tablets, doors, etc. until you've successfully bypassed all threats and can reprint your physical host in front of the final door. Amazing feeling. But a lot of the time you get case B, where you can hop around a lot, but mostly meet up with (often-initially-unhackable) turret robots who vaporize you in seconds, and even if you hide in another body they become "suspicious" the moment you do nearly anything at all.

The game elects to be very stingy not only Ego, but also on Disks and Worms - ability unlocks and upgrades, respectively. One of them is a short-range teleport like Shift from [i]Dishonored[/i] - though again, not an immersive sim. So you're liable to find yourself starved for Ego and also underequipped to solve problems in other ways, which is a truly stifling feeling you'll run into sooner or later.

You've heard the good and bad, but there's also Ugly - even simple tasks like operating a lift require projecting yourself into the lift itself, activating the lift, then projecting back into wherever you want to actually be. If this sounds asinine, it most certainly is; you'll likely be sick of it in a couple hours. You have to body-hop to so much as save the game. The devotion to the mechanic goes a little too far at times. And the [i]sound[/i]... the infernal whining sound that plays as you swap bodies, sometimes across long distances. It's a pity I ultimately bounced off this game, but at least I'll never have to hear that tone again.

É um jogo chato, os puzzles são baseados em "faça isso e aquilo" antes de um robô te vê. E mais esse ego..ego pra lá e pra cá. Você é uma máquina em uma estação e precisa descobrir o que deu errado...o que é óbvio, máquinas deram pane e todo mundo ficou preso. Mas não se engane com as comparações, não é nem Portal e nem Prey, é só um jogo no limbo que tenta ser esses dois, digo na descrição, porque na mecânica é ruim. Só comprem ele, se só tiver ele no steam e for 100% gratuito.

Отличное разнообразие путей прохождения, прикольный сюжет, юмор разных уровней, крутые головоломки по пути прохождения (и они разные, в зависимости от того какой стиль прохождения). На то, что выглядит она стрёмненько даже не обращаешь внимания. Из минусов могу отметить только сложность в понимании куда идти и что делать, но такие затупы встречаются редко (может затуп тут вообще я). Если на неё есть скидка - берите не задумываясь, если скидки нет - тоже берите, оно того стоит

I would like to start out by saying that I love Immersive Sims. I really wanted to enjoy this game... But I just find that the controls are janky. Not only that but I don't find the humor compelling or charming enough to compel me into the story. I don't care about the tasks that I'm supposed to complete. Although there are some Immersive Sim elements to this game... Sort of... I don't actually think it's an Immersive Sim. It's not on the level of System Shock, Deus Ex, or any other Immersive Sim out there. THIS is a PUZZLE GAME... Nothing more. It's a puzzle game that disorients and pisses you off.

God... Again... I hate the controls... Just to open a door, I need to pop out of my body, embody the door, open myself, then return to my body... But SOME doors open with a button press... And that pisses me off. And with all this head hopping... There comes a point to where you have floating tabs on your screen, to jump into a prior body that's in another room. So if you need to reprint your body, there might be five printers. You might throw yourself into a a printer that so far away that you don't even remember what you did there... Likely because your situational awareness was garbage in that room, due to all the head hopping. So you need to find the RIGHT printer. Each time you jump from one printer to the next, you lose all sense of direction, and you have no idea what printers you've visited and which ones that might be where you're needing to go.

There was one point where it said "go through the ass end of Biometrics". So I found a sign that read "Biometrics". But it was a dead end. So I just wandered around until I found a sign that read "The Ass End of Biometrics".... You have to be joking... I wanted to punch someone in the face.

So not only to sign posts mislead you, but the tab instructions (mission objectives) are unclear. I played until I couldn't figure out where to go, and didn't care enough to look up a walkthrough. I'm confident the solution would have been just as "clever" as "The Ass End of Biometrics"....

I JUST bought this game, and I despise it.

There is so much good about this game.
You can feel the love and effort that went into making this near masterpiece.
And I cant get over the fact it was mostly done by one person. What the f*ck?
The level design is really well made (especially for an indie game). The ‘possession system’ (CTRL) is fun and there are often multiple ways to solve a particular problem. You can even adjust many of the settings that are maybe a bit to much for some players (like the long HOP animation or the slipperiness of your robot).
You can control many different robots (but the pups are objectively the best) and devices without even moving your host body.
The game also supports "extreme save game scumming" - which would be a bad thing in stealth games, but is a good thing in immersive sims (because you can just try out stuff).

The longer you play, the more you find the little amazing details.
You can skip the story dialogs, repeat them and even get a short summary every time.
You can save anywhere and reload via F9. It saves and loads very fast and runs generally very smoothly.
You can skip a bossfight and even an entire chapter if you know how. Through sheer exploring.

Obviously no game is perfect and as in many indie games the sound design got a bit overlooked.
Don't get me wrong: Voice Acting and most sounds are really well made, but some sounds are just repeated over and over again and are really annoying. Especially when you don't know where to go and stand around for 30 minutes just hearing the same ringing noise. Sound design is very important for ME and I even quit if it gets to bad. So this is not a real problem for most people. (Even the invisibility is crazy loud for some reason. Lol.)

You could also criticise the fact that you are bombarded with new words right at the beginning of the game.
(Such as Host, Meta, CTRL, BUG, HOP, CAT etc.)

Further nitpicks would be that enemys spot your Bug extremly fast.
But you can skill against that AND you can use a pup AND you could save and reload any time.

Also also the physics are kinda buggy, but the dev is activly (!) trying to fix the known bugs and helps anyone in the forums with their questions - even years after release. Really. Look in the forum. This dude is amazing.
I think nobody knows his own game better than Mindthunk.

Again: this entire game is made by only two guys. And one of them leaved halfway through.
This is beyond amazing. He deserves all praise for his work.

This is one of the best games I've played in years. Forget it being impressive for 1-2 developers - I would've been just as impressed if a team of 50 made this. It's that good. Some of the highlights:

1. This has the same addictive puzzle-solving gameplay loop as all my favorite immersive sims, where you're presented with an open space, various objectives and hazards, and a variety of tools and paths at your disposal, and then you're left to your devices. I felt that awesome sense of accomplishment as I worked my way through each space, tried things and failed, made use of so many different approaches, and got that satisfying feeling of having all the pieces fall into place. The game is so under-the-radar that there aren't even helpful guides available, which meant when I got stuck, I had to just keep working at it - and I'd almost always figure it out with a little more time and thought.

2. In other immersive sims, I often find I lean on one particular play style, usually dependent on just a couple of abilities/tools, but I probably used about half of this game's abilities/tools on a regular basis during my first playthrough. In part because the game is designed around letting you fail and keep going without too much of a penalty, I felt free from trying to get it "right," and had no problem jumping from one approach to another depending on the level. I'd change tactics based on my goals, like if I needed to preserve a certain resource, if certain types of enemies were present, if the space made it easier to move around in one way rather than another, if I wanted to have time for more thorough exploration of the space, etc.

3. The comparison to Prey is very apt. It's heavier on the puzzles and lighter on the action (it's very hard to fight through the game, even with fighting-related abilities upgraded), but the story themes and world, the way it feels to move through the world, the types of puzzles, etc., all warrant the comparison. The Portal comparison I understand because of the setting, puzzles, and humor, but to me it feels much more like Prey.

4. Like many immersive sims, it takes a minute to get used to. It felt a bit restrained and clunky at first - the movement style, the physics, the the narrow possibilities in the first few levels - but as the game progressed I totally acclimated to the feel of it. By the end I was instinctively flying around the levels and doing things that I had trouble even understanding for the first hour or two. The levels are very tutorial-like for a little while before they achieve that big, open immersive sim feel (again, like Prey) where you have lots to do and so many different ways to do it. The scope and complexity of the last few levels is incredible (and again, it's absolutely mind-boggling to think that 2 people created them).

My only nitpicks:

1. The story is a bit convoluted, in part because the subject matter (consciousness and advanced technology) is complex, and I definitely had trouble following some of the finer points during the second half of the story. I would love to learn more about the broader world in which this game exists in a sequel.

2. The graphics aren't incredible but they're way more than good enough and have lots of personality. Honestly, I barely even noticed them because I was having so much fun.

3. As I noted above, fighting didn't really feel like a viable option. You have to one-hit kill enemies, catching them by surprise, most of the game, and good luck if a space has multiple enemies in close proximity. It'd be interesting to see more effective aggresive abilities/tools in a sequel.

I'm shocked this game was so good. I suppose it feels "indie" because of the aesthetics and graphics, but the core gameplay here is so much better than that (or the game's low price) implies. I'd recommend this without hesitation to anyone who has enjoyed immersive sims like Prey, Dishonored, Deus Ex, Thief, Deathloop, etc.

The tools and upgrades forced me to make some interesting choices that led to some really unexpected 'aha' moments - lots of fun to play. Ctrl Alt Ego is a hell of a puzzle game, and probably one of the best ImmSims we've gotten in the past few years. The absolute freedom the game gives you in the second half to approach your objectives is just wonderful to experience, even if I had to brute force things due to not being clever enough to come up with other solutions.

The story was surprisingly engaging, although I will say that the ending left wanting a bit more from it, and the artstyle, while minimalistic, is charming as a result. The only real complaints I have is that even on the normal difficulty, the threshold for getting destroyed feels a little too fast, as it often would happen before I got a proper handle on what was going on, and that having to possess doors to open them up or save does get slightly tedious after awhile.

I can't wait to dive in with NG+ and the missions to fully experience the possibilities with a full moveset now, can not recommend this game highly enough.

One of the most original and enjoyable games I've played in many years. If you're at all a fan of emergent gameplay (I learned that phrase from youtube), give this one a spin.

The levels are big mechanical sandboxes, and you're free to approach most situations however you like. Different character builds give vastly different experience, and the game has enormous replay value as a result. There's something for everybody, really- you can play this as a stealth game, as a pure puzzle, as a shooter, as a platformer, etc.

Soundtrack is great. The art style's charming--reminiscent of System Shock, but less spooky and occasionally cute. The writing is enjoyable, but it doesn't overstay its welcome. This isn't really a story-centric game. It's mostly lighthearted, but the latter half of the game touches on some heavier topics, eg transhumanism and the nature of consciousness.

I look forward to playing again on a higher difficulty, and with less quickload abuse.

Hopefully I'll come back and write a more detailed review later, but I had to tell people to play this game. The introduction is a bit shaky. Don't let yourself get filtered.

This is probably the best immersive sim I have played in YEARS. Some people like to call it "an enviromental puzzler" which it is too, along with a lot more stuff.

The controls may be a little to get used to it and sometimes fine control when ctrling stuff might not be what I like but the rest its just excellent.

Very fun imsim. I really enjoyed the main mechanic as well as the strategy I ended up favoring of stealth section -> explosion time. I can see how some people say the game "overstayed its welcome," but I don't think that's fully true, as I think the game generally just got better the further you went, particularly with chapter 7, though I also really enjoyed the Merging Station. I think my biggest complaints would be that the "tutorial" portion of the game is a bit longer than ideal, and I wish there was a bit more of a focus on routinely using multiple different bots - like using disks on a Pup for some unique upgrades, or upgrading a second Bug with a different build - emphasizing the disposability of individual hosts. Nevertheless, the level design was consistently very solid and enjoyable, and I found the writing to be engaging and funny. Definitely worth your time!

Już na wstępie muszę przyznać, że to jeden z najlepszych jeśli nie najlepszy immersive sim w jakiegokolwiek grałem. Choć nie była to miłość od pierwszego wejrzenia, bo przy pierwszym podejściu odbiłem się od niej i to dość szybko. Głównie dlatego, że źle rozdysponowywałem podstawowymi zasobami jakimi są punkty EGO i Juice. A że gra jest dość wymagająca i nie wybacza błędów to szybko straciłem przyjemność z dalszego grania. Na szczęście przy kolejnym podejściu uważniej czytałem wskazówki i zacząłem w bardziej przemyślany sposób wykorzystywać zasoby.
W grze kierujemy robotem a właściwie pewną świadomością, tytułowym Ego. Otrzymuje on za zadanie ustalić co przejmuje kontrolę nad stacją, na której się znajdujemy i to kim/czym jesteśmy. Warto wspomnieć, że nazywamy się Bug 22. Tak, jesteśmy bugiem, błędem, świadomą anomalią a dokładnie jej 22 wersją. Na swojej drodze spotkamy inne wersje "buga" od zero, po 1.0, czy 25. Akurat te które wymieniłem będą neutralne, ale spotkamy też niebezpieczne "błędy".
Punkty EGO o których wspomniałem na początku są swego rodzaju punktami akcji wymaganymi np. do hakowania, przejmowania robotów, kamer itp., i kupowania tubek z juice/soczkiem w automatach (takie alko-tubki xD). "Juice"/soczek jest z kolei "paliwem" i nabojami do naszych narzędzi, broni. Tak, tu nie ma podziału na rodzaje amunicji, czy paliwa.
A jakie narzędzia zdobędziemy? A to już zależy od nas czy i kiedy zdecydujemy się zainstalować w sobie dane narzędzie. Od samego początku mamy możliwość instalacji i rozwijania wszystkich narzędzi i broni. Aby tego dokonać będziemy potrzebować kart pamięci, które będziemy znajdywać w kolejnych lokacjach. Za ich pomocą możemy również wykupywać upgrade'y np. powiększające magazyn energii (punkty życia, energia witalna), czy zwiększać maksymalną ilość "juice" jaki możemy przy sobie nosić. Takie upgrade'y wymieniamy w specjalnych automatach za wspomniane kości pamięci. Warto pamiętać, że kości pamięci są chyba najrzadziej zdobywanymi przedmiotami, surowcem w grze. Także czasem warto zastanowić się dwa razy, czy zamiast próby instalacji wszystkich narzędzi, broni nie lepiej wybrać część z nich, ale za to bardziej zwiększyć ilość energii, czy max ilość juice. Możemy również każdą z broni, narzędzi usprawniać a do tego potrzebujemy z kolei wormsów. :) W grze ten zasób dosłownie wygląda jak robal, dżdżownica xD No i ich również nie ma za wiele w grze.
W grze widzimy świat w dwóch trybach: nazwijmy go "rzeczywistym" i "cybernetycznym". W tym pierwszym widzimy "normalnie" z kolei w trybie "cyber" widzimy wszelkiego rodzaju punkty dostępu (cała reszta staje się metalicznym tłem, widzimy tylko obrysy otaczających nas brył) np. do kamer, drzwi, innych robotów (jest ich kilka typów), tabletów z notatkami, automatów z "żarciem" itp. Przy każdym takim punkcie dostępu widzimy różne informacje m.in. ile punktów Ego kosztuje nas "wejście", czy zawiera w sobie jakieś klucze, hasła.
Robotów w grze jest kilka rodzajów od mobilne i "statyczne", bojowe, czy z mocno ograniczonymi możliwościami interakcji z otoczeniem. "Bug" to chyba najbardziej uniwersalny z nich choć nie najwytrzymalszy (zwłaszcza w pierwszej połowie gry) ani z najskuteczniejszą bronią. Dlatego niejeden raz będziemy przejmować kontrolę nad innymi typami robotów. Niektórych nie da się hakować, przejąć.
No i tak korzystając ze wszystkiego co nas otacza będziemy przeć przed siebie do celu. I to jak to zrobimy zależy wyłącznie od nas. Jak przystało na prawdziwego immersive sima. :)))

I have just finished chapter 4 out of 8, and I think I might be tapping out, but I think the game is ultimately not to blame, it might just not be for me. One of my favorite games was Murdered: Soul Suspect, and I saw the gameplay loop of being an ego without a body as being somewhat similar to the loop of possessing people in order to complete tasks. However, while that game featured occasional out-of-body moments, this game runs on that as the sole feature, which might just not be for me.
Something about the level design and upgrades also bumped for me. Instead of being a fun adventure, where each upgrade provided new options or strategies, each change was so minute that it never mattered. Gaining the ability to train ego off of hostile bots from a distance seems like a game-changer, until you realize it drains juice at such a rate that you can use this once or twice at best before you are drained, at which point it will cost 3 times what you just absorbed in order to refill the juice meter enough to use it again. I did go through each level to get every worm and memory chip, and in the end, it did not make me appreciate level design more. This is not an instance where I got to the end of the level and realized that I could have used stealth to go through a fully different way, or explored a whole new area.
Anyway, I realize this reads like a bad review; someone put a lot of effort into this game, it has a lot of detail in the thoughts of the bots you are inhabiting, and the pads you find. The art design of the game is much better than I expected every time I saw the logo. I am marking it as a good review because I can think of people this game might be for, I am just not one of them.

Я серйозно. Кінець гри(що розробник розуміє) це єдиний момент гри, який... ааа, ладно. Забудь про це.

Що по грі. Ну у нас тут `immersive sim` й одного цього слова має бути достатньо, а в стімі є багато рецензій, які висвітлюють саме геймплейну сторону. Мені ж хочеться віддати токен за музику, яка тут щось по типу chiptune, додає атмосферки, та й просто добре зроблена.
Друге це сюжет. Він імхо цікавіший ніж у Prey 2017 при цьому маючи схожу ідею, але не розкриваючись у повній мірі через раптове завершення...

Піду поплачу собі, а поки я плачу ось вам каламбури.

Весь сюжет пішов на котячий корм. Коту під хвіст...

Right then. NG+ completed. My time with CAE has come to an end, for now. Very much enjoyed it. For being full of playable bugs, there were almost no game breaking bugs. the few negatives it had where so miniscule compared to all the great, absolutely fantastic stuff.

All the jank, weird design choices and slightly unhinged elements very much fit with what the game feels like its trying to be.

Not a perfect game from an objective standpoint, but for me its one of those perfect gems that focus on its strongest elements, and doesnt even have the things that would drag it down. There were so many instances of me thinking "This level design is just right, very well thought out" and I cant htink of any moments i thought "This is dumb, it shoulda been done like this".

Very tight and cohesive. It left me feeling very satisfied, highly invested and in a good mood for the 20+ hours i got out of it.

Thank you mindthunk for making this great, niche, highly personalized experience that fit my preferences in videogames perfectly. Your art is slightly insane, and thats the best kind of art. I look forward to your future projects, and this one I will remember fondly.

Это просто космос. Один из лучших иммёрсив симов, что я играл.

Плюсы:

-прокачка (небольшая но прикольная)
-вариативность прохождения уровней (в комнате жирный враг? закидай его взрывающимися баллонами или найди скрытый путь и обойди, а можешь захватить "вражескую турель" и расстрелять с ее помощью, ну или вооон в той комнате стоит ящик, можешь его взять и прикрывшись пройти мимо)
-роботы пёсики (ими можно управлять и с их помощью можно лазать по вентиляции)
-строение уровней
-фотки с котиками
-местами есть юмор

Минусы:

-управление может поначалу показаться кривым и неудобным, но привыкаешь быстро
-смерти, как таковой тут нет
-иногда, придется прям пылесосить уровни в попытках найти, например, пароль от двери
-однообразие противников (для кого то может быть серьезным минусом)
-большая часть записок неинтересные
-сюжет и концовка "ээээ окэй..?"

Предупреждение:

-игра, строго про чистый неразбавленный концентрированный геймплей
-разнообразия пушек не ждите (она у вас только одна, и то, если только будете прокачивать)

One of the best and most creative immersive sims I have ever played. Every level seems to get more complicated and larger than the one before, which in an immersive sim is a great time! The game's openness to multiple solutions (while never making it too obvious what said solutions are - the obvious solutions tend to be the most risky or resource-intensive ones, as you might expect) means there are many different possible playstyles, and the upgrades available certainly add to that as well. And even once you have beaten the quite substantial main campaign, there is a new game + and bonus missions to try as well. If you are a fan of immersive sims in the slightest, I strongly reccomend this game! ^w^
