One review I watched describes this as a "podcast game", which I agree with.

The good: Can have good fun with this whilst listening to other stuff, and then just exploring / doing some fun combat. Runs well, and looks great

The bad: The downside is that this game has way too many mechanics that barely function, or don't have any real effects. The story line progresses extremely weird, and quests are on the level of a bad mmo. Character writing is non-existant, and the whole 'faction' system (including your camp) is extremely lackluster. Negative review for now, especially considering the price.

Crimson Desert, what is it?
To be honest, after over 80 hours I still don't really know, but I wasn't bored once during that time.

The controls on PC with mouse and keyboard are absolutely fantastic.

The battles are brilliantly animated and feel incredibly powerful.
The world is beautiful and vast.
The wildlife is incredible.

Overall, yeah, it's absolutely awesome!

This game is a masterpiece. Here is Why:

''There is No Story'' - False

The Story is 100% there , You just need to Seek it. It doesnt hold you by the hand that 'Modern Gamers' Expect to see. The Beninging is 100% there and is Easily Followable.
The reason People think its Empty and Void is because they don't read the 'Knowledge Tab'

It is Your Bible. Your Brain. Everything Kliff (Or others) Find , Interacts with , Explores and Encounters , That info Is added OR UPDATED (If you Already know something but learn something new, It states ''Knowledge Updated'' In the top Left)

Insane Method, But i know mutliple people who restarted the Game 100 Hours in when they realise how Critical the Knowledge log entries Were. No joke. Im even Considering it myself , Because although i kept an Open mind, Didnt realise how Critical Knowledge was to Understanding People and places that is Crucial to understand whats going on in the game. THIS WAS HERE FROM THE START!!!

So that Answers the Who's Jian, and Who is Damian. Its in there from the Start.

There is Even Knowledge on some people that makes you think 'Whattt?!?!' Friendships you would not have known about otherwise , in Particular a Child Forest Character Friends with Two Seriously Powerful Magicians.
Crazy.

Every time there is a Knowledge Popup, READ IT. EVEN IF IT IS A BUTTERFLY. Some Butterfies are key components in Dyes FYI, And the Knowledge gives you potential Hints to what colors they Produce...

Meat Types. You think you know what meat is? Wrong. This Tells you What it comes from , if you specifically need that type for an Ingredients list.

READ EVERYTHING. Also, Ive not checked all of them as there is many, But I believe all the Animals are REAL. Minus the Obvious. So you are reading Real information on them.

So if you feel the game is Empty , Or no idea whats going on ^^ That is why.

Knowledge is Power.

Now that The Story and Structure is Dealt with for all those Unintelligable Speedrunners and Majority of Variety Streamers and GAME JOURNALISTS Not mentioning any names (IGN) who need to 'Done, next' things, to have the First say, The most Views Etc Etc. This Game DEMANDS your time, which none of these people want to give it. It Doesn't Play itself. Im 130 Hours in , Chapter 8, 8% Exploration and 23% Knowledge. I'd LOVE to See how these people Justify their Scores. This Game will take Like 800 - 1000 Hours to Fully Complete. And you COULD do that without ever knowing the story, If you DIDNT READ THE FRIKKIN KNOWLEDGE ENTRIES XD.

Graphics. IF you are unsure on the Graphics, Find yourself a Streamer Streaming at 4k (Probably Throttled to 2k)
This . Game. Is . Jawdropping. Some Scenes are just like ''How did they do that'' 4k Data Streaming on max Settings Flawlessly with 140+ Frames. Everything Looks ALMOST Photorealistic. Scaling it Down, Im running a 2060 with DLSS 4 Quality ON LOW, 32GB DDR4 3800Mhz RAM, Ryzen 7 5800X, OFF AN EXTERNAL USB HDD , And it Still looks better than Say my beloved Skyrim. Still Runs Smoothly With no Stutters. Frames are pretty low though at 30 But Meh XD So does other big games on Consoles.

Now lets look into the machine running behind the Scenes. The In House BlackSpace Engine. Born and Evolved from Black Desert Online. Its a baby In Age compared to other Established Developers but a Monster in its capabilities. Go Read about it.

All these Processes , Physics, Graphics , Attention to Detail And sheer Size of the World and all its Assets all Working in Perfect Synchronous Harmony with each On Multiple platforms, With Support For Multiple Scaling FROM DAY ONE, Is nothing other than Legendary.

2 Massive Patches IN THE FIRST WEEK with almost Every single thing the community gave feedback on, Rolled out across all Systems (One on a Sunday) ... It speaks for Itself.

If you think anything Lower than a 9/10 You really do not know the scale of what this game is. It doesnt matter if ''You dont like it'' Its just not your thing, As for technicalities , and What this game Delivers, The Escence OF what it HAS Achieved, It is an Absolute Solid 9/10 - At the moment. My ten Rests on Absolute Perfection. And going by this First week, The Devs Seem Determined to deliver it to a ten. If it trully Is Polished with all the Non Mentioned Discrepancies (Non of which are game breaking , Just little Autistic Irritancies (Dialogue Mismatch, Lip Sync, The Landing from Flight after the Recent Update, Character Shadows Jumping Into Different positions) MINOR ♥♥♥♥! Game has crashed on my pc 10x since the updates came out. Before it never crashed. Now it’s been crashing consistently. It’s unplayable and I’m frustrated! I have to stop playing because I don’t want to it to crash during a quests. I had fun until the updates starting coming in and crashes.

This game had originally not been on my radar at all but after seeing it pop up on TikTok and YouTube, reading more about it and watching reviews, I decided to give it a try.

The world is amazing, I'm still amazed they managed to fit this much life into a map this big. I only have about 13 hours in game and it still hasn't made me leave the initial starting area. The graphics have to be some of the best looking ive seen in a game that run decently well too. I have a 3080Ti and 5700x3D and I'm using Digital Foundry's recommended settings for 70-80 fps in most places.

Now, is it perfect? No.

Voice acting feels a little flat at times and you run into the occasional controls hiccup, DLSS has its weird artifacting too, but overall this game is amazing and you could EASILY fit 500+ hours into it for completionists.

I’ve played about 34 hours, mostly on stream, and I think that’s more than enough time to form a real opinion.

I actually found out about this game years ago, back when it was still an MMO. Because of that, I was curious for a long time to see what it would become. At the same time, I didn’t go in with some insane hype or unrealistic expectations.

My first impression was great. The first 3–4 hours were exciting, the world looked beautiful, and the combat felt fresh. But little by little, that excitement turned into confusion, and then into apathy. In the end, I felt like I was playing the game not because I wanted to, but because I had already paid for it.

This game somehow has everything and nothing at the same time.

Pros:
Open world and visuals
The world is huge, and you can go almost anywhere. Traveling through it often gives you some genuinely beautiful fantasy views.
Combat
Combat looks flashy and dynamic. Progression unlocks a lot of moves and variations, and once you remember the inputs, you can combine fists, melee weapons, and ranged attacks in one fight. That part is cool and makes you want to unlock more skills instead of sticking to one simple playstyle.
A lot of mechanics
The game throws a lot of systems and mechanics at you, and on paper many of them are actually interesting. There are plenty of ideas here, and some of them are genuinely cool.

And that’s pretty much where the praise ends.

Cons:
The open world feels empty despite its size
I didn’t find much in the world besides bandits, traders selling basically the same loot as the trader 2000 meters away, and camps full of an absurd number of enemies. Clearing camps becomes exhausting fast. At some point, exploring without quest markers feels pointless because there’s not enough worthwhile discovery.
Combat either doesn’t fully shine or gets repetitive
In my experience, encounters usually fall into two extremes: either there are too few enemies and the fight ends before the combat system can really show its strengths, or there are way too many and it becomes tiring long before the fight is over. Boss fights weren’t enjoyable for me either. Animations often feel too slow, attacks take too long to commit to, and you get punished constantly while trying to do anything more interesting than basic hits. A lot of boss fights end up becoming dodge spam, healing spam, and a few simple attacks whenever there’s an opening.
Slow, dull storytelling
This was one of the biggest problems for me. The pacing is painfully slow, especially for a game whose story and characters are not strong enough to justify it. By the middle of Chapter 4, there was barely any real action. A huge part of the story is just going somewhere to talk, then following an NPC while listening to a long monologue. The main character has almost no charisma and barely says anything, so a lot of these sections feel lifeless. Sometimes the whole quest is basically just walking and listening.
The pieces never come together
This is probably the best way I can describe the game. It has many mechanics, many ideas, and some of them are genuinely good on their own — but the puzzle never comes together. Instead of feeling like one strong, well-built experience, it feels like a collection of disconnected systems that never fully support each other.

To be honest, this game feels like it could have been a great MMO, but instead it became a weak and unfocused RPG.

Final thoughts:

I ended up closing the game during yet another slow side story mission and decided to write this review.

In its current state, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially not for $75. It’s overpriced.

Wait for patches, wait for discounts, and you won’t lose anything. This is definitely not game of the year.

Control are terrible making the game very frustrating. Boss fights are stupid with very poor mechanics. The Darks Souls games have really hard bosses but you the get used to the movement and eventually overcome it and you feel like you progressed. Not the case in this game. The concept of medieval with alien tech also sucks. For those who does not have the game yet, I would wait until things are fixed before buying.

I played around 25 hours and all of it felt like a last ten minutes of a tutorial. It feels like fun must be right around the next corner, the game keeps you hopeful but it never gets fun. It's not bad either, it is just meh i guess.
My main issue with the game is, there is absolutely no variety to the enemies. You kill bandits for hours. Not to mention they are all just cannon fodder. Press one or two buttons and things die, that's the height of challenge... As for story... Was there one? Puzzles are also meh, some are good and some are just chores to get through with. Characters are forgettable at best annoying at worst. Voice acting also leaves a lot to desire. There are many different looking races in the game but they all sound and behave like humans. If you close your eyes for a second, there is no difference between an orc, a human, a goblin and an ogre.
Devs have probably thought if you are not a cat then you must be human.
The only interesting thing in the game is the vast variety of animals, most of which visibly spawn right next to your face.
Other than that i see no reason to get back to this game except for getting some more value of the money i regrettably already spent.

I’ve been having an absolute blast with this game you truly get lost in its amazing world, and time just flies by. If you enjoy open-world experiences combined with a deep and engaging combat system, this game is definitely for you.
The last time I had this much fun exploring and moving from quest to quest was when ER came out. That same sense of immersion and discovery is very much present here.
This game is a true gem. The developers really delivered, and they deserve a lot of respect for addressing control issues and other problems within the first two weeks after release.

Uma joia do mundo dos games. Vai ser um game cultuado por décadas. Estou jogando há 30 horas e cada hora que passa o jogo fica melhor, desbloqueia mais mecânicas e vc percebe a profundidade do game.
O combate é desafiador, o protagonista te desafia a extrair tudo que ele oferece. É como num jogo de luta, é fácil fazer o básico, mas dominar o personagem é complexo.
Ambientação é absurda, toda hora me pego parado olhando para a paisagem, traz uma imersão que poucas vezes vi no mundo dos games. Sem contar que é muito bem otimizado.
História é genérica e lenta, mas não é ruim, apenas clichê e pouco atrativa (Isso com 30 horas de jogo). Mas o mundo é tão incrível que você faz elas apenas pra saber onde ela vai te levar dessa vez. E os puzzles são bem desafiadores.

Greetings, developers and owner.. I am a big fan of Crimson Desert.. I am one of those people who bought the game at release despite the criticisms; I have always had faith and the game has never disappointed me, I truly love it.. Although of all the things I would like to ask you to add, for example.. hunting animals so that when you catch them you have the option to use them as food or release them, it is difficult to hunt them by attacking animals, that would improve the experience regarding hunting.. and the last thing I ask is that you please fix or add something regarding stealing. Other than that, everything is fine, developers, I am very grateful for all the effort you are putting into the game.

so 40 hours in .... STILL haven't ventured out the first area really that much

that being said im hooked , there's no hand holding and makes learning this vast game enjoyable

yes there are bugs and the movement is kinda hard getting used to but very rewarding when you do

combat is just like BDO ... very little hand holding but once learned very fluent and flows very nicely

Gioco spettacolare. Per ora non ho riscontrato alcun bug, tranne un piccolo problema con una missione risolto ricaricando il salvataggio. Il mondo sembra infinito, un territorio vastissimo da esplorare, con vari biomi, vari mini-boss, moltissimi collezionabili. L’ambientazione è a dir poco spettacolare. Un classico fantasy soulslike che mescola un pizzico di Elden Ring e un bel po di Assassin’s Creed. Lo stealth è quasi inesistente, il combat system è un po macchinoso da capire ma una volta trovata la quadra è simpatico. La lore, a differenza di altre recensioni viste online, non la trovo terribile. È un po la classica storia dell’eroe salvatore.
Per essere ancora alle prime ore di gioco direi che è molto figo! Consigliato!

At first I didn't like the controls, but either I got used to them or they fixed them. I like the game, it has everything, but it's more like an Assassin's Creed clone with puzzle elements in the style of Tomb Raider. I recommend it to fans of this type of game. I have no complaints about the graphics, HDR works correctly, unlike Resident Evil Requiem. Where the screen was dotted.

I haven't had this much fun in a game in many years. Crimson Desert has blown my expectations and have been hooked. Over 30 hours in and i have barely scratched the surface with so much left to explore and do. Could easily see myself spending hundreds of hours playing.

Plus the developers have been very active in updating the game fixing bugs and adding new stuff. Looking forward to exploring and playing more.

Das Spiel ist für alle
... Abenteurer
... denen man nicht sagen wo man hin laufen soll
... die am liebsten Storys erleben die sich einfach ergeben und nicht statisch erzählt werden

Ein Spiel mit diesem Freiheitsgrad gibt es wirklich nicht häufig. Und um diese Freiheit richtig auszuleben gibt es die größte nicht generierte Open-World jemals.

Und als wenn das nicht schon reichen würde, hat das Spiel ein sehr gutes Kampfsystem mit ziemlich hohem skill-ceiling.

Es reicht sich ein zu den mmn beiden besten Open-World spielen: Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Eldenring und jetzt Crimson Desert

Jogo muito bom e o fato da galera da Pearl Abyss esta escutando os jogadores deixa tudo muito melhor
Exemplo tinha um bug de usar uma skill para meio que 'voar' todo mundo dizendo que era melhorar aproveitar pq iam arrumar, veio a atualização e simplesmente mantiveram o bug porem com uma animação foda kkkkk

37 hours in and I've uncovered maybe 10% of the map, and i can tell I've still got unfinished business within that 10% - I'm still discovering little things the DEVS put in the game and didn't really say anything about. I've refused to read reviews, and all the "everything you need to know" articles before playing. I can't stand that part of our current culture. Why would i want to know all the discovery before i go discover it? It just makes it feel like "been there, done that".

Now, alot of the time "discovery" is boring dot-to-dot to-do lists. Over and over again that's been the tedious and boring case. Not With Crimson. I mean, i slingshot myself from a tree using the grapple hook, flew a half mile across the landscape and landed at the top of another tree. That's how i accidentally discovered you can climb almost any tree. Or chop it down for wood...That's gameplay...This is what Crimson is all about. It's deep and deeply fun.

Amazing game overall, though there’s definitely room for improvement. The plot, characters, and side quests are a bit weak, but the travel and exploration are really fun, and the combat is excellent. I wish the game had gotten a bit more time and some essential patches before launch, but I’m glad the developers are already fixing the current issues.

Despite what all the early reviews said for this game, I purchased anyway - honestly I had it pre-ordered and wasn't gonna cancel what could be a gold mine of a game.. yes at first controls were all over the place, in fact it made me switch to KBM instead of controller (which I now prefer in general), but overall the game is great. I've seen the reviews about the story being lacking and I can't comment on that myself yet but from what I have played its enjoyable. I wish Kliff had more dialog than short answers/responses but it really isn't that big of an issue.

Gameplay is solid, graphics (on a 3080) could be slightly improved and by that I mostly mean ghosting/being able to see better at night) but overall still looks better than most games, the map is HUGE and FULL of content. Despite my hours (I've left my PC on a few times with the game running, whops), I've probably put around 60 hours in already... and I've barely gotten far at all. Been so side tracked with side quests.

9/10, could get some improvements which the dev's seem to be doing so by the time this game is pretty much optimized it'll definitely be a 10/10. Hope to get some DLC too.
