I think this was the first review of the game! I really liked this games music, I liked the bird, and I liked eavsdropping and learning about the world! I feel like it had a good story, and fun gameplay. Don't think there is anything to dislike about it.
I keep coming back to this game because its balanced flight feels responsive and good with dynamic music which takes flight as you do. One of my favourite things to do is to fly as high as I can get. (^-^)
It makes you feel very much as a magpie in the sense that you couldn't care less what the humans are up to, only what you could get from them, and as the developers themselves points out: that is kind of the idea.
To put human actions in a perspective that paints them as short-sighted and meaningless in the bigger picture of things.
It's like someone asked what Majora's Mask would feel like playing if you were simply a bird observing the events as they unfolded instead of Link who actively tries to change their fate. With the addition that as said bird you would be immune to any of the negative outcomes.
It sounds intriguing, but the two parts, the story and the mechanics, suffers equally from it as well.
And that said, I would have loved to see a spiritual sequel to this game with the same kind of flight mechanic and dynamic music, but instead of simple models trying to convey a complex story mirroring real world issues, the focus could be on a more complex and living environment with many interesting/beautiful/sweet/strange things to observe. Then there wouldn't be a need to pour a lot of resources into building one coherent story for the player to puzzle together, but just a lot of small independent events to come across as you explore the world.
One game that already does something similar very well is Feather by Samuraipunk.
Took me around 1 hour to finish the storyline. I'd say it's good at telling the story it wants to tell. Sometimes the music switching can be a bit jarring, and some of the music is a bit too upbeat for what is happening during later chapters. I say it's worth a try if the story sounds intriguing to you.
Hidden gem, quaint, heartfelt, beautiful, humble, unique title that doesn't attract attention but definitely deserves it.
8/10
A good little game for chilling out, easy to play but a bit repetitive.
cute little game.
a little rough around the edges and sorta heavy-handed in its themes and writing.
but overall makes for a nice short experience that leaves u w something to think abt.

The 2024 election happened and I decided to try this out on a whim. What was supposed to be a fun time flying around as a bird "which is very fun" turned into a thought provoking view of a possible near future. A story reminicent of 1984 where a dangerous new leader is elected and the local villagers have their rights and freedoms slowly stripped away while being lied to by their leaders and how they fight back against tyranny. A story of morals and the very real pattern of governance found in other countries that have killed their own people for power. Give this game a try it's very short but powerful.
Gameplay wise, the controls are great and fluid as you fly around gathering items to bring back to your nest in the center of the city. You can also find feathers hidden around to increase your top flight speed which is really fun. Along with the music the game is a great example of how games can tell an important story.
Birdy doesn't give a f&*k about hooman problems!
A <100min playthrough where George Orwell's 1984 meets Stray. It has simple visuals, its easy to run, and has an interesting story.
Easy to 100% too--you'll need a 360 controller though.
Nice little relaxing game in the same vibe of Flower. We control a bird that has to find objects to finish its nest. Relaxing, but sad in the same time, because the story takes place in a dictatorship. A little too bad this aspect isn't more used in the gameplay. And sometimes the controls are buggy. But that's a cool and pleasant game.
Fantastic game, it felt very peaceful exploring the map. I thoroughly enjoyed finding the shiny objects and twigs for the nest, I also enjoyed the added feather finding, this ensures you explore the map in its entirety. Incredibly made game which I would 100% recommend to those looking for a fun, peaceful, realistic bird flying experience.
I have 100% this game!
Short, simple, and sweet; but always wish it could be a little longer.
Digesting the story as a spectator through the eyes of a bird is an interesting concept.
I hope to see more things in the future from this developer!!
Copoka wasn't long, but I enjoyed the short journey and it's a great way to have fun for an hour or so. the story was very simple but still had some fun dialogue to find for each of the stages, definitely go listen to the guards at the castle every stage they were the most enjoyable. I got it through Humble Bundle at some point, so not sure how much on sale the game goes for but would recommend to buy it on sale since it is very short, also definitely play with a controller I don't own one currently but the controls are not designed to work well with a keyboard.
Magpie simulator. Flying is easy to pick up and feels amazing. The environment is pleasant.
There's also some type of a story about human society? Luckily the game does not expect you, a bird, to particularly care.
Decent little game, Chapter 4 achievement is bugged for me. Controls are a bit clunky but usable with a controller and it's short (not including the bug which I'll try again at it later, I completed it in under 2 hours) so maybe buy it if it goes on 50%+ off or if you can get it from Humble Bundle in part of a bundle which is where I got mine from.
Ever wanted to be a bird soaring through the sky? Wandering the world enjoying the scenery and occasionally listening in to peoples conversations? Then Copoka is very much for you. Copoka is a story game at its core, which is told as you interact with the world as a bird. You do not really do anything aside from collecting items and listening to snippets of conversation, but for a short game it definitely keeps you engaged for a few hours.
Poetic freedom, that's how this game can be described.
Copoka makes you live an experience :
- Being free when others are chained up,
- Being joyful when others are desperate,
- Being healthy when others are dying.
It's interesting to observe the evolution of this country and its people.
But having the possibility to fly away of this oppression is an intense relief.
If you read this, I wish you the same feeling that mine when I discovered this game.
Soaring through the skies, collecting trinkets, listening in on people. Not much more to this game, but it is relaxing. About 90 minutes to 100%, way less if you just collect the trinkets.
Very relaxing and underrated game.
Attractive bird flight sim, with a story and fetch quests. The bird handles fairly well, although is prone to getting stuck in objects after landing and making take-off difficult. A relaxing game to play for a couple of hours.
A charming indie flying game that's low on stress and crafted with love. Think of it as a solo-dev 'Stray' but you're a bird instead of a cat, or a non-VR version of 'Eagle Flight'.
The graphics are stylized and I found them cute, but they're not photo real like Stray or as stunning as Eagle Flight. The city is a really nicely developed space however and I enjoyed learning my way around. Kudos to the dev for being a Cave Story fan!
Since it's a smol budget project there is certainly room for improvement. I personally found it frustrating that while flight controls are 'proper', camera controls are FPS style, and while you can invert, it inverts both! Oh well, I did manage to play Metroid Prime on GameCube with inverted controls so it's surmountable... XD
A delightful couple of dollars if you like exploring cities, or flying around.
I’m usually a pretty big fan of these sit back and relax while the story happens around you sort of games but this one wasn’t quite it for me. I get what the devs were going for and did enjoy the vastness of the city as you get to fly around as a bird but it still felt pretty hollow. I get that this was from a pretty small dev team so I can’t knock it that hard but I just didn’t click with it.
The story covered the paranoia of a totalitarian ruler of this city and her inevitable downfall. All told from the perspective of the playable bird listening to the citizens plot and follow through on a mission to take down the leader. It is interesting to be placed into a story with agency but you as the play have no control over it beyond moving the narrative along by finding objects to build out your nest with. It was interesting listening to the towns people but not something I really messed with.
Maybe if I played this on my gaming rig and not the steam deck it may have been more enjoyable. But at the end of the day it just wasn’t for me. Always fun experiencing a new game that I haven’t heard of and even better clearing out my Steam account’s backlog.
You are a bird, you fly around the city, collect trinkets to carry to your nest, and meanwhile listen in to people's conversations. There is a story about a totalitarian system and a rebellion, which is OK but nothing extraordinary. The flight mechanics are pretty bad, but overall it's a relaxing little game, so I give it a thumbs up as it's not that expensive either.
A fun explore game with a much more serious message. You are a magpie and you get to fly about in a city and surrounds, listening to human conversations held by sack-like people in a pretty well detailed 3D environment. Try to explore the boundary for hidden areas and scan about for items, like any self respecting magpie would do. It's a very fun flying game, not as long as one might like it to be, because there is not a load to find. I'm not sure if there is a message to oppressive regimes or dictators hidden here, or even a love story, because it is a beautifully populated and rendered environment.
Once you find everything, go on and execute a few acrobatics. Despite what the devs say about using a controller, mouse and keyboard worked perfectly, there was a camera stuck moment or two, but easy to get out of. This is a seriously well thought out game.
birb build nest.
more than worth the set price
A relaxing bird simulator with easy achievements. Fly around and gather shiny items and listen to what the town is up to.
Around two hours for a full game.
WOW!
PD. Es casi obligatorio jugar con mando
Do bird things as a nation goes to war with itself. Why are they going to war? Why would I care I'm just a bird.
The controls for this game on PC are absolute hot garbage. Every time I took off the bird just slammed into the ground, and just keeps hopping instead of taking off again. Tried all of the controls and it just starts turning in a circle. I was looking forward to a relaxing game of flying around the city, I got a disappointing mess.
Loved this game very much. Kinda weird its messaging seems to be true under the circumstances.
Birdcage
Copoka is a sandbox scavenger hunt, where you go fetch items in a pretty but tiny map, triggering some very poorly voice acted lines in the process.
Despite a couple of annoying camera bugs, flying is pleasant and relaxing. It does get stale fast due to there not being much to explore.
As for the story it's as shallow as it gets with simplistic clichés about life under dictatorships. You'd think it might've been made for children, but then you hear some swearing.
I don't really know who this game would be suitable for, but it's certainly not for me.
poorly optimized and really obscure, fun for about 10 minutes but then you just get lost in where the ♥♥♥♥ you have to go
If I were Great Leader, I would have done it better.
Short and sweet.
Update: A year or so later after playing this, I would say I want more.
Short, atmospheric and low key.
This is a decent zen-like exploration game where you control a bird and fly around a city and its landscapes. While flying around you encounter scenes, collect things, envelop the atmosphere, and that's about it. It controls good enough, but really make sure to use a controller. The story surrounding the city is a good setting, and the things you uncover are interesting enough to give the atmosphere a boost. It's very short, and isn't particularly awesome, but for its low price I found it to be worth it (I myself got it as part of a Humble Bundle, but the price tag of a few bucks make sense to me).
d
This game is fairly short, I hope at some point they add more to it, but it is fun and quite interesting!
7/10

Quick Summary:
Revolution in Bird form! Can be Beat in a hour and is a walking simulator / flying simulator with just enough story to keep you interested in the short length.
Graphics: 6/10
Having been released in 2016 the graphics are not bad for todays standards. A unique art style and the open world makes everything seem grand. There's nothing to make you're jaw drop, but it had its charm and gives you a feeling for whats going on.
Sound/Music: 7/10
The overall music is well made and is sprinkled throughout the world changing based on areas as well as how you're flying is going. There's a feel of a revolution going on in the background with the style of music choices, giving you a bit of immersion. The voices used to convey the story be it the main "Great leader" to the smaller group laid about while not triple A voice actors get the job done and make you feel for the city.
Story: 7/10
You come into the game thinking the story will be about 1 birds struggle to build the nest, you'll be leaving with a lot of political thoughts on revolution and what sometimes is perceived from the outside. I enjoyed all the little extra story elements sprinkled throughout the game world to listen and how some characters arcs are actually played out throughout all 4 chapters. The only real negative can be said is.. it just kinda ends..
Gameplay: 5/10
Flying Fetch quest. You start a chapter, hear some dialogue, fly up into the sky and fly to the shiny grab it take it back to nest. That's about it. The controls feel OK and are easy to use. There is a nice sense to the open world element with some secrets laid about along with story line elements hidden around. Yet the game will only get you about a hours of game play and maybe another half a hour if you go for all the secrets.
Overall: 6/10
It's not bad for a quick play through just to go through the story line and have a relaxing experience, but don't come into hoping for a fully fledged out game. Everything feels like something a college project would have made and that is OK. It's still was a enjoyable experience enough to keep me entertained for that hour of game play.
Copoka me genera ternura.
I love games like this. Controls were great, environment was great, story was well done. Really enjoyed it and recommend it. Takes roughly an hour or so to beat. Thank you for creating the game! Nice job devs!
the only good thing is the sound track, everything is janky and poorly optimised, there is barely any story and following the only goal gets tedious and boring
TL;DR: "It's fine, but probably don't buy it."
There isn't too much to write about regarding Copoka, unfortunately. This game features frustratingly unrefined mechanics paired with an 'ok' narrative about the pitfalls of government--in this case, a seemingly totalitarian dictatorship mostly akin to North Korea, as it's portrayed very cult-esque. You, the player, control a little bird that wanders around a decently designed little country in search of twigs (actually, the description is a lie, you collect all sorts of small items) to refine your nest into a humble abode. The story is pieced together through "major" plot points, and small conversations between the folks of the country; these dialogue instances are triggered by moving near beams of light at the place of interest. This would probably be the first major issue with the game, as it's kind of a boring repetitive gameplay loop. Fly up from your nest to gain speed, fly over and swoop down to the nearest shiny: Meh.
The story is another matter. Honestly, I went into this game after reading its description (I'll note here I received this game for the price of $1, through a Humble Bundle bundle) and was deceived by its Steam description. I didn't expect a story, I expected (and wanted) a simple "flight sim" (haha, cus it's a bird?) around a cutesy world. An added story element to a game is fine when warranted, but this game could have done without it and not much would have changed; the dialogue, if included, could have just been stereotypical chit-chat among citizens, and the country could have been redesigned to not make the dictatorship military areas so apparent. To say the story is rich is an overstatement, to say it's bland is an understatement, to say it's boring is about right.
Here's my synopsis of Copoka's story:
Big bad (the 'tyrant') can't properly communicate why things are happening, apparently ill-fitted the country's army (as an ever-looming war is apparently present) and citizens are coming down with some weird probable bird flu (...ha.) The plebs, er peasants... uh, slums, hm, low-class rile up an uprising and kill the Big Bad. Oh ho ho, governing isn't easy and politics suck: the end.
Moving along, the mechanics are weak and unrefined. Lifting off to fly can be buggy and unresponsive, and sometimes when you do manage to takeoff you land. Maneuvering seems sluggish at best and a nuisance at worst. Sometimes the birb doesn't want to land. Chirping seems useless, even when a specific NPC asks if the bird is going to sing to him (this could have been an interesting secret interaction, possibly paired with an achievement) but it does seem to cause NPC's heads to tilt/move towards the bird. There's weird invisible walls which bounce the bird around once you reach the edges of the map, and can cause you to become stuck; but don't worry, getting stuck is a feature because they specifically implemented a "return to home" macro, which teleports you to your nest.
Some sandpaper could have been taken to these sharp edges.
The music is nice, no complaints. It changes depending on which area you're in, with the slums have a somber musical track; that was an appreciated design choice. Other sound effects seem good enough. Voice acting seems unprofessionally done, which isn't a bad thing considering this is a small indie title, it's good enough; it just seems over-acted in the sense it feels "off" when the NPCs actually talk.
My biggest complaint about the game is actually the design of the country, and the placement of the trinkets you collect for your nest. The placement of the trinkets make sense in the context that they're near the major story element triggers, which I guess is fine. But, there simply could have been more trinkets added to the game; but this has the downside of padding the game without actually adding anything. It seems very weird to me that the slums are just right over the bridge from 'Goodville', I'd think that the slums would be a bit farther away considering how compacted the houses are together, such an intentional design--literally making them to be slums--would suggest they'd be farther from the "proper folk." The farming areas could have been expanded with bigger fields, just to feel "more real." The industrial area could have been bigger. Okay, my complaint is the world feels cramped and compacted when it didn't need to be; but a larger game world requires more power to process, and the game is already unoptimized as-is.
Oh yeah, for such a simple game with simple graphics it's very unoptimized and chugs at times (usually when you're higher in the sky, but you need to do this for flight speed) even on my system (i5-4690k and a GTX 1080.)
Not sure how they managed that.
Game lasted about an hour. Not necessarily worth $5, but whatever.
I'll add another complaint here about Steam having "Recommended" and "Not Recommended" as the only options, as I wish I could choose "It's fine, but probably don't buy it."
The characters in the world are a lovely design and the whole place is very pretty. It has some great music too. But it's glitchy as all hell, flight not letting you satisfactorily swoop and swish as you might like with your bird unable to take off from far too many places it can land, and clearly there is such a high expectation that you'll get stuck clipped into the world that it monitors for it and respawns you after a few seconds. But the more problematic thing is the story, an attempt at, I don't know, regime change and totalitarianism. The more accurate might be "bad". In the end, it felt to me more of a piece of apologies for a dictatorship! This is not an open world game; there's absolutely no exploring and you don't gather twigs to build a nest.

In 2008, Dear Esther’s lack of combat and sole focus on storytelling and exploration was radical. By 2016, the “explore and listen” game was a staple indie genre, and Copoka comes off as a sort of mean average of this sub-genre, encompassing its weaknesses and strengths.
You play a bird who flies around a fictional, probably European city, collecting shiny objects for its nest, and hidden feathers that increase its flight speed. Flying around is a languid joy, and the art style creates beauty from a low polygon count.
Yet as the player, the primary hook is all the conversations you listen in on as you collect trinkets. These tell the story of life in a newly erected totalitarian state, and are competent (if dry) on their own, but it’s blindingly obvious that the game is trying to set up a “twist” that the revolution, once successfully in power, is indistinguishable from the totalitarian government it replaced. This is such a tired trope that it has no business trying to pass as insightful, and I found the slow reveal obnoxious—akin to when you figure out the murderer 12 minutes into an hour-long murder mystery, and grind your teeth as the detective misses obvious clues in order to pad things out. Copoka is a reminder that if you make a narrative-focused game, the narrative has to be able to carry the game, and no amount of lovely art and music is going to make up for a lackluster script.
Just a nice chill game that doesn't take a lot of time to get through. Very enjoyable.
PLEASE NOTE, even though I have left comments on, I am not interested in you telling me that I should put 4000 hours into a game I don't enjoy so I can "git gud", and then I would like it. That is a stupid argument. Don't be stupid. Skill is not indicative of enjoyment, and I have better things to do than bash my head on what I personally feel are bad / mediocre games on the off chance I could maybe like them one day. I have a life and don't play games in order to develop Stockholm syndrome.
I played in 4k. I am using a 2080 Ti & 5800X processor with all current drivers and patches manually installed on Windows 10 x64. All settings were initially maxed out except AA which was off.
I will update this review if I continue to play and have more to add and will leave comments on.
PROS:
- No crashes during my short time with it.
- Music was appropriate and fit the world.
CONS:
- Setting options was a nightmare. It doesn't have a 16 x 9 resolution in it for 4k or lower until you hit 1080p. All kinds of oddball widescreen ones, but no 4k support.
- Settings would not allow you to select them with a controller, and enabling the gamepad would disable the mouse in game. This made it so you couldn't change half the settings.
- Setting camera to invert didn't work and operated seemingly randomly between inverting the view and inverting flight unless you restarted the game between settings, and even then I could find no link between the setting and what it was doing.
- After about a half hour trying to get the settings to actually work, and then manually editing the .ini myself, I flew around for about a minute, picked up a shiny object, and promptly got stuck between two walls and could not move and had to exit the game.
- Restarting again to find the settings had been wiped out and would have to be manually entered again.
- I then had a moment of clarity and realised that as a father to a two year old, my gaming time is precious and extremely limited, and this game does not seem to respect my time or want me to actually enjoy it. I then quit.
CONCLUSION: This was frustrating and needs a patch or two to fix some of the basic bugs in the game.
Spoiler Free Review:
I got this game through a friend, knowing nothing about it previously.
Given the style and only looking through others' hours played through reviews of Capoka, I figured it would be a relaxing game to wind down the night with.
Safe to say I was pleasantly surprised!
It's a very short, very cute game you can complete within the span of two to three hours- depending on how much you want to just fly around. But don't be fooled, it's cute and relaxing style is in stark contrast to the story behind this game.
You play as a bird flying around finding things for her nest, all under the setting of a closed country/city under a dictatorship rule. As you steal all the shinies, you listen in on conversations through a number of chapters- painting the story of the lower class plotting against "The Great Ruler". Though no character is named, there are little tragedies that happen within this overarching narrative that vary between cute and funny, and sad.
Of course you're also not forced to listen to the story, or even follow it. If your idea of a good time is simply snagging some shinies from unsuspecting, distracted humans to decorate your nest and zooming fast through the sky- you can! You can avoid the majority of the dialogue, and simply fly off with your shinie without having to listen to anything beyond what you want. The game has just enough to keep you interested if that's the route you want to fly through! You can collect 11 feathers that increase your speed, stylized graphics, a surprisingly detailed world to explore and fly around, and calming music.
My only gripes with the game come with the controls. It took me longer than I would have liked on keyboard to grasp the controls of the game. I found myself fighting a lot with the camera to the point of where I just never touched the arrow keys beyond when I flew up high to spot conversations I was missing without forcing myself to fly back down. Inverted controls was a must, for me at least. And the last achievement(SPOILER- as it's hidden) is still glitched for keyboard users as well- which is very sad given how simple the requirement was. Simply press tab, or B- and teleport back to your nest. It would have made the game go by quicker had i been able to as well. I enjoyed flying around, I found it relaxing. So I didn't mind the lack of the feature, but sad that it was my last achievement and I'm unable to complete the collection.
Aside from this, and a couple of glitches into mountains- and sad faces when i smacked invisible walls in hopes of there being even more to explore- I enjoyed my 3 hours with this game! And I recommend it to anybody looking for a simple, yet interesting story with relaxing visuals and game-play! (Just please play on controller :p) 7/10
Pros: I enjoyed the idea this game had; viewing the struggle of this town under a dystopian dictatorship and watching it unravel as a bird simply looking for material. I think the art style really suits the game, the music is pretty relaxing. This game can be pretty relaxing when you are flying high in the sky and looking down on the village below. I wasn't a fan of some of the voice acting but I can see the love that went into the story writing through the dialogue so that was cool. There is a pretty good attention to detail in populated areas of the map. The bird player model is really well made and thought out- the bird's feathers actually act aerodynamically and mimic real bird flight. I thought that was pretty cool.
Cons: I kept trying to give this game chances and kept being disappointed. I spent about 30 minutes trying to fix a graphical bug that was tied to the render distance in the game (the most pivotal part of the game play). This game is poorly optimized (I have a pretty hefty pc that can handle pretty much anything) and had lag. There were bugs with the waterfalls and the controls are horrific. I switched to a controller and still had issues. Your bird pulls wherever it wants at times; this made focusing on the game a little hard as it changed from a story based experience to surgeon simulator with wings.
Overall: I don't agree with this game being released with such game mechanic breaking bugs (the render distance glitch i had). BUT I do think this game is worth the money I spent on it (I got it on sale for less than 2 dollars). I wanted to like it so much more. I think if this game was fixed and a bit more polished, they could've expanded on it a lot and made something compelling and powerful. This game has such a unique way of presenting information to the consumer; but it feels half finished- especially at the end.
A sweet, short little flying game set with lovely graphics, flight and calm music. Thoroughly enjoyed the few hours it took me to make my nest, soaring and gliding the map looking for materials. The story, if you can really say there is one, seemed to me to be about a dystopian state where the people are worn down under the oppressive government, yet where beauty and hope persists. At the price point, Copola is definitely worth the small investment.

Would have liked to give this a warm hug but sadly there are too many broken wings.. It's a relaxing flying about in a supposedly oppressed place (it's small) where you listen to various conversations from people trying to overthrow the regime or being scared of the "rebels". You didn't expect that did ya! I found that more interesting than the flying. Bird get stuck in many of the "borders" of the world, an achievement doesn't work with keyboard, appears to be not at all optimised and there is just not much to do. It should be some free experimental game. At this price there are way too many good games with a lot of content to compete. It's a no but the art is quite endearing and fresh (check the people) and I would look out for something new from those devs.
Don't waste more time reading lengthy reviews.. time is of the essence!
Copoka is a very unique game. I've 100% completed it in order to give a fair review. It has its fair share of flaws, but something about the way the story is presented (via passing conversations that you can overhear - or ignore) and the perspective given (of a passive observer, who can do nothing for their situation, nor who has any real reason to care) is something that makes this a title unlike any other in my library.
I won't say it doesn't have its flaws. The controls are not entirely clear - the tutorial glitched out on me at first so I was left very confused, and it also leaves out several major things, such as holding 'b' to return to your nest when you get stuck (something that will often happen if you try to explore too high along the borders of the map, for example). I spent a good 10 minutes trying to turn myself around after getting crammed into a glitchy area of mountain where I couldn't walk, and when I tried to fly I was immediately hit back out of bounds by some invisible force.
One might think space, which is the button to take off, would be the same one to flap, but instead you accelerate with shift and slow down with ctrl. Space is reserved for taking off and landing only, though I found it will only work for taking off if you have enough space nearby, meaning if you land on a small rooftop you may end up stuck there until you reload the game or respawn. I'd also highly recommend turning down the camera sensitivity and making other tweaks to your liking.
The loading times are incredibly long as well. When experiencing a graphical glitch, it took a full five minutes to return to the main menu and then load the game again, and I have a high end pc. (this also did not fix the glitch, but restarting my pc did).
However - after those little complaints, allow me to talk about what I liked.
Spoilers below!
The game's premise is simple - you're a bird searching for trinkets, and happening to overhear the city's troubles as you do. It features a dystopian, dictator-style vibe with their 'great leader' who controls the city and what its citizens say. Without spoiling too much, I will say I was impressed with how they showcased both sides. The guards and the rebels, the citizens and the great leader - all had things to say as I flew around as a silent observer. The story was far from groundbreaking, but it kept me entertained and intrigued.
I downloaded this game because I wanted to play a game with a bird sim style, and while this didn't entirely scratch that itch, I wasn't disappointed.
There is another thing I found quite unique. The voice actors for this game were, for the most part, very amateur. This wasn't a bad thing. Their voices fit the story very well - a hint of uncertainty for a game rife with conflict and tension. A line rushed or even different from the subtitles. Human error. It added a strange layer of authenticity that worked very well for this game.
My final thoughts? Copoka was a game worth its cost. It had a unique story, and while it had its flaws, I'll be thinking about it for a while. It was strangely intriguing for a short little game about a bird in a low-poly city. However, it wasn't entirely satisfying. The story leaves you to draw your own conclusions, which was fine, but in the end, not even the eggs you've been nesting for the entire game hatch. It felt like a letdown after I waited the entire game for something to happen. It feels somewhat unfinished in a way.
I'd recommend you try copoka if you enjoy narrative-based games, simplistic games, or even games about birds, since the flying is decently fun once you get enough feathers, and it's quite enjoyable to explore the city and all its nooks and crannies. For the price, the flaws are worth giving it a try anyways. It's not highly replayable, but it's a fun experience that you may find yourself thinking about for a while after.
I am better at being a bird than u I will also shag yer bird 2

I really wanted to like this game but literally every single time I played I had controller issues. I just purchased a new remote to use to make sure mine wasn't the issue and the game will not recognise all of my movements on menu screens. What finally got me to give up on this game was the fact that I could not scroll down on the options menu past the inversion option. That means I can't change the game settings. I really, really tried to give this game a chance but it has disappointed me every time. :(
Distinct way of storytelling through bird's point of view, where you collect trinkets and listen to conversations. Exploration based game with great atmosphere, keeps you interested for about 2 hours.
Be a bird and learn about revolution!
Copoka is a beautiful exploration game. Some would call it a "walking simulator" except for the obvious difficulty that you're flying all the time, but the only "gameplay" here is to find items that are clearly marked, so there is absolutely no challenge in this. What you get is a small country, a birds-eye view of its essence, the voices of its people (the more important voices are marked for you to listen to and collect), and four snapshots into the progress of a revolution. So much in this game is beautifully crafted nd well worth exploring, and the flying is so much fun that I honestly didn't miss any "gameplay": I played, I enjoyed myself, job done. There are so many details handcrafted into this that it's just a joy to explore! My favorites are the painter (there is a hidden cave nearby!) and the two friends up on the ramparts.
Like most story games, you're going to play this only once; if you have 2-3 hours, I recommend playing it in one sitting as I've had some trouble with the save system in the DRM-free version, and I don't trust this game to always save when it says it does. Oh, and it plays nicely with a controller.
Very much recommended if you can let go and just soar and explore!
Warning: a controller is strongly recommended to play Copoka (this game), but I have played this game with just a mouse and keyboard.. which has not been as good, but OK and works. The worst thing about this game is the visuals/graphic quality. It is very low for a modern PC game. Because of the good game play however, and the neat bird sim concept and flight, I would recommend this game to most players. 7 out of 10, good game
Similiar to the game "Flower", stunning art-style and a nice small story with it.
Great concept, great idea, great music and it felt pretty good flying over the town, but even on my decently powerful computer, I had to turn everything down to low and lower my resolution to even get it to play at 20 fps. Completely unplayable at decent settings and resolution.
Simple but effective mechanic and story. I thought I was just going to play a bird...who knew that there would be similarities between this and COVID19.
+ Dive bombing past citizens of Copoka is tons of fun. Gliding under bridges and between lamp posts a great joy. It would've been nice to have elements within the game challenge you with this (either with items, collectibles, or just achievements) but I had fun making up my own challenges.
- Controller is much better but I had problems in the menu with a Steam Controller (not sure if that was the problem or not.) Also I had issues with getting stuck in the mountains. For a game's sole mechanic is to fly, I think it would've been better handled when you ventured where you shouldn't be.
- Not sure why, but the vocals mix is at least 50% too high in volume. The story evolves through the citizens talking, which is a great element since it doesn't affect you the bird but you the human player. I had to turn down the vocals to 30% because they were just too loud. All in all, I liked hearing the little stories especially Tom up in the fort lol.
B+
Copka is a beautiful game. I loved watching the story unfold as I went along, the world was beautiful, and the dynamic soundtrack was perfect! Sometimes controlling the bird is a bit clunky and there are some story elements I wish had been integrated into the environment better, but overall I would highly recommend it!
Maybe the real game was the friends we made along the way
I really liked the idea of Copoka, which is that you experience life in a dystopian city from the perspective of a bird flying around gathering materials to make a nest. The problem was that I could not for the life of me figure out how to gather materials and eventually gave up after flying around for an hour desperately trying to locate interactable objects. I’m not really sure what went wrong here — was it me missing something? Was there some kind of glitch? Again, though, what was going on in the game wasn’t so great that I felt the need to spend the time using a guide. If the objects you were supposed to gather were just that hard to see, that’s bad design.
The game also had performance and control issues. It just didn’t feel worth overcoming the hurdles it put in the way of my experiencing it.
Great way to burn an hour. Loved the gameplay and story delivery method. Probably worth playing once a year just to experience and/or show to other people.
I think you should have a good and fast PC, cause this game is amazing scenery. I think it's very beautiful!!
Really fantastic game with an amazing soundtrack and a nice little story that you find by flying around this beautiful yet dark world listening to people talk to each other about the state of there lives while gathering things to build your nest. It is super relaxing to fly around too and I loved every bit of it!

Docela nuda.
You're a bird trying to build the best nest you can in the middle of a city controlled by a totalitarian dictator. It's a little weird but a good story, and easy to get through in one sitting.
Amazing game. Good voice acting and incredible music. It's so relaxing to soar through the city and overhear the people's conversations as the story unfolds. I'm not at the game's completion yet but I'm really enjoying the flight...
The story and the voice actings are just meh, but nonetheless it was entertaining for a short period of time and considering that this probably was a low budget project. Some people in the reviews pointed out that it's pretty short, which it actually is (completed in less than an hour while achievement hunting), but I think if you extended this game and it's story, it would quickly become monotonous. For me it's about right.
I'd recommend playing with an XBOX One controller. I don't know what all the complainings about the controls are. Seems to me that they were fixed before me playing it.
Overall, nice quick game for a change.
Relaxing and calm game
Short and sweet
PLOT/ABOUT THE GAME - 7/10
You play as a bird soaring through the lovely land of Copoka. A totalitarian state currently in upheaval. You listen in on the people around you and are trying to get shiny trinkets for your lil' nest. There's nothing absolutely outstanding about this game but it is very charming and not a bad concept for a game.
It is quite short, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. So if you're looking for a nice relaxing indie game to play this could be for you.
GAMEPLAY - 7/10
It's relaxing and fun at first but as you slowly uncover the story the tone becomes a lot darker. Your entire game will be spent mostly flying from point to point, listening to people's conversations, and occasionally picking up a trinket or feather, and flying back to your nest. For an indie game it's pretty good.
GRAPHIC- 6/10
Not much going on here, the art style itself is very simplistic but occasionally you get a good view and some of the beauty peeks through.
MUSIC- 9/10
Really helped set the tone and I think I liked it the most out of this game.
PROS
-Very easy to just pick up and put down
-Relaxing and doesn't require too much energy to play so it's great for a calm afternoon
-Fairly good story, and doesn't leave you with a sense of being incomplete
-Being a bystander, in this case an animal, and having no say or interaction with the overall arc is an interesting concept
CONS
-I wasn't a fan of the controls at the beginning. I tried both keyboard and controller and it felt a little off in some way. But I was able to get through the game regardless.
-The game being a short one might be an issue to some people but it was fine to me
-Nothing incredibly groundbreaking in terms of games or gameplay
Not much of a game but a relaxing experience.
Can't believe I didn't write a review for this game yet.
This game is a gem!
For everyone that loves birds and story telling, this is definitely something you should pick up.
You fly around as a bird, collecting things for your nest, and while you do so, you can hear the people in the town talk about various things. The story becomes more and more clear and it's honestly super interessting!
The music is super nice too and the bird controlls smoothly and nice. You can even find things to make you faster later.
It may not be a very long game, but I think the price is very much worth it.
(Also I played it with keyboard and mouse just fine)
Cool idea, but horrendous controls and camera kills the game.
The easiest way to describe this game is boring, if you want a game that might put you to sleep while playing it, this might be the game for you.
Vogelfrei... Willkommen in Copoka!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1687003006
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1687004610
I will say I liked the concept behind this game. You play as a small bird just building their nest all while learning the story of the town.
The controls are janky and I did switch to a controller in hopes they would improve, they did not. However if you want a game you can get a 100% on in less then 2 hours, this is the game for you.
Seemed like a cool and relaxing concept. In reality the story is super depressing. A real bummer that took a way from what is a neat idea.
I'm mixed about this game. It's really, really short. This isn't a negative, just saying, you can play this on a 1hr flight, kinda nice. The graphics were pleasant, and the camera controls were hot garbage. It would been nice to soar up without the camera flipping around and loosing its collective ♥♥♥♥. The point of the game is that you're a bird, and you collect things for your nest while a country undergoes regime change. The conversations/actions around you is kinda...irrelevant? Because, you're a bird. And nothing you do impacts the world, you just are there. I enjoy that aspect of the game, but really, really wish it had been better fleshed out. Wayyyy to short and the overall sub-action (regime change) wasn't really that enthralling.
Cute game. A bit short. I like the controls. At first I was confused what to do but you get the gist after roaming a while. I wish I could meet other bird friends but it seems you are the only bird in the entire city. The music is very nice and relaxing.
Bugs: I can't understand spoken english, some subtitles are incomplete/missing and I would miss some story. Sometimes I'd get stuck in geometry unable to escape. One time some invisible force was pushing me into the mountain and I got stuck. Wish it had been clear that holding TAB key would return you to your nest, I learned about it after I finished the game.
