Любят определённые группы разработчиков закосить под классику. Зачастую в таких проектах каждый изгаляется над игрой в меру своих сил.
[i] Coffee Crisis[/i] – beat ‘em up. Главная проблема – это управление. Под клавиатуру оно приспособлено посредственно. Никакого обучения в виде плаката с подсказками, надо всё сделать по-старому! Поэтому умираем мы в самом начале, перекликивая всю клавиатуру. Разобравшись как крутится и скакать можно уже идти вперёд. Противники не прощают ошибок, действуют агрессивно, во время вашей атаки без проблем проведут свою атаку. Противники имеют относительно неплохое разнообразие, к каждому нужен более гибкий подход, чем просто устраивать мясо. Но что-то всё равно не так, это становится заметно, когда темп местами спадает, и уже успеваешь освоиться. Иногда урон по герою проходит сам по себе. Все враги в 3-х метрах от вас, а полоска здоровья уменьшается. Местами область атаки врагов не сходится с анимацией удара. И моё любимое: искусственно запереть персонажа с кучей противников на маленьком участке.
Сюжет. Тут всё без откровений. Простенькая завязка о налетевших пришельцах и работниках кофейни. Перед каждым уровнем пару предложений текста.
С дизайном всё порядок, продуманные фоны и локации, умеренное количество объектов. Неплохие анимации и нормальная графика. Вот только не завезли 1080p. Из-за этого всё слишком пиксельно. Есть различные визуальные эффекты, которые дают разнообразия, но этого как-то мало, чтобы впечатлить. Звуки сделаны в том же антураже, здесь всё без сюрпризов. С музыкой решили сделать стилистический уклон в сторону метала, дабы было больше драйва, а с ним и больше не обдуманных действий. Но есть загвоздка. Саундтрек очень короткий, одна и та же простая мелодия быстро наскучивает и начинает раздражать.
В целом, для дебюта нормально. Но делать здесь нечего. И очень подозрительно выглядит гурьба хвалебных отзывов про «классику» с временем достаточным, чтобы выбить карточки.

Coffee Crisis is arguably the best beat-'em-up released for the Mega Drive in years! Jokes aside, the game excels in delivering top-notch gameplay while maintaining a smooth experience. It truly captures those pure '80s vibes.
The only minor drawback I’d mention is the game's duration. However, it excels in almost every other aspect for fans of '80s arcades—be it music, plot, gameplay, graphics, or co-op features.
Definitely a well-crafted game worth playing.
It seems great for the first few seconds, then you realize it's not. The graphics and atmosphere are more than fine (apart from some effects that distort the screen or alter the colors just to annoy the player). The problem is the gameplay: hordes of enemies that cannot be stopped, which force you to jump around without understanding anything, without any tactics. Such a pity.

Coffee Crisis me transportou de volta aos bons e velhos tempos de glória de Final Fight, porém com uma reviravolta psicodélica na história e uma jogabilidade difícil de engolir. O jogo me deixou decepcionado.
Há vários problemas, como a trilha sonora que muda constantemente, causando uma sensação desconfortável devido às constantes transições. Fiquei extremamente incomodado. Além disso, a quantidade excessiva de efeitos, luzes e distorções durante o jogo pode ser avassaladora.
Inimigos desbalanceados tornam o jogo bastante desafiador. Para progredir, você praticamente precisa jogar em dois jogadores, mas mesmo assim é difícil avançar devido à quantidade excessiva de inimigos na tela e aos ataques de longa distância.

I'd say avoid this one. It's frustrating & the hits aren't fulfilling. There's better beat em ups out there.
Game's alright. But I wouldn't recommend it for others to give the game a shot.
In more depth to really say about it; The game's strongest points would have to be the Artstyle. It being pixelated and also having some form of smooth animation towards it. And it being in the style of a Stereotypical Beat 'Em 'Up is also a classic plus onto the general gameplay factor.
The problems? It's the gameplay. Goodness gracious how does one describe how this gameplay goes?
Enemies have no factor of a proper hit-stun when being stuck in a combo and the issue of the player's combos also being somewhat lackluster does not help with it whatsoever. The game generally overwhelms the player way too much enemies which will almost GUARANTEES you lose a life or two during a stage, regardless of the difficulty chosen. It's almost as if the game was ment to be played for 2 Player at all times, even when you're going single-player, and have to rely on the RNG-aspect of Power Ups spawns when you can get it.
Both Player Characters have their own unique aspect of fighting styles, but Nick will almost always win out due to his Special attack being a moveable spin, and the other character's Special being so... lackluster in comparison. And also there's the cases of Jankiness when using either their attacks of specials and sometimes you get punished for it for no reason?
Overall, This game gets a 4/10 from me.
It looked good, but it doesn't play good.
Coffee Crisis is a console ported 2D retro pixel arcade brawler/beat 'em up game with a coffee theme, which sends the very clear message to gamers that the developers should not give up their day jobs at Starbucks. That's reinforced by a very weak, buggy, and lacklustre technical implementation in this lazy console port. Hammering the nails in the coffin is the way the developers, after huffing a lot of their own gas, call the game "neo-rogue". Anyone who uses such a term should immediately shut down and destroy their PC and promply depart the gaming industry, because it's over.
Before we get into the usual technical defects, the gameplay itself is also flawed, with very bad lack of polish, clunkiness, bugginess, and so on. One key complaint is the lack of hit-feedback/stun mechanisms. In arcade brawlers, players suffer if they don't pay attention and enemies sneak up on them. To reward players for paying attention, and to make the game playable, enemies will be stunned for a bit after you hit them, but in this game, the developers, because they have been so busy getting my order wrong at Starbucks, did not know about this mechanic, so you'll get massacred pretty fast as soon as you run into enough enemies, no matter how good you might be at real, genuine arcade brawlers.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.
The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content.
Because this is designed for consoles, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the inferior console gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the console-centric developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for consoles forces upon a game. Once more, console peasants have made gaming worse for everyone.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
Coffee Crisis didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for ACH_CompStage1, trivial to get, but less than 28 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game.
Coffee Crisis has the almost comically optimistic (if it wasn't so sad) price of $10 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Yeah, this costs more than Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, the developer clearly thinks this is a better game than that. What a joke. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
This game features a number of suspicious, likely fake positive reviews. The reviews all appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and all have very similar wording and writing style, in Russian or in the same broken English. This is highly unusual given the very low quality of the game and poor player counts. The "Positive" review score on this game should be taken with a large grain of salt. This might be done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.

I remember receiving this game for free before. At the very least, I owe it a review. I went through the absolute hell that is Death Metal difficulty and my final recommendation is... yesn't.
The pixel art looks great and the heavy metal music will make you pumped up for the challenge. However, said challenge is a flawed experience. You'll be struggling against regular enemies as they can interrupt your combos and gang up on you. You can barely stun them at all with few exceptions. Certain enemies will keep their distance to spam projectile attacks, which have an oddly wide hitbox and can't be stopped while they're preparing the attacks. There can easily be more than 10 enemies on-screen, so crowd control is absolutely vital. Most melee weapons are useless; they don't fare better than your usual attacks and they're too slow (the guitar being an exception). And some of the boss fights eat through your lives; the bosses will constantly attack, pretty much draining your health whenever you try attacking them.
All the ingredients for an underrated indie beat 'em up are there. And that's probably the most frustrating aspect of the game for me: it's just a few bits of polish away from being great.

현대의 벨트 스크롤 액션 게임은 경험치나 점수를 모아 스킬을 구입해 해감하거나 능력치를 상승시킬 수 있는데. 본작은 그런 요소가 전혀 없고. 기본 콤보, 점프 공격, 잡기 공격, 무기 사용, 파워 어택, 메가 크래쉬 아주 기본적인 공격들만 가능하다. 공격의 모션, 성능, 타격감이 나빠서 조작감이 좋지 않은데, 잡졸의 수는 지나치게 많이 나와서 게임 플레이가 매우 지루하다.
커피 많이 마시기 대결인 보너스 스테이지도 처음에 할 때만 할만하지. 똑같은 내용의 보너스 스테이지를 게임 엔딩 볼 떄까지 계속 반복해야 하는 것도 질린다.
레트로 게임 컨셉이라고는 하지만, 그래픽만 도트 그래픽이지 게임 분위기와 스타일은 레트로 게임과는 좀 거리가 멀다. 게임 플레이 도중에 아무런 설명 없이 갑자기 화면과 그래픽 스타일이 바뀌는 연출들은 너무 황당해서 게임이 버그난 줄 알았다. 보통은 그런 게임 화면은 옵션에서 플레이어가 자유롭게 선택해 조정할 수 있게 해야지, 자동으로 만들어서 멋대로 화면이 바뀌게 하면 어떻게 하냐고.
개그 센스도 좋지 않아서 스토리도 재미가 없다. 배경 음악은 헤비메탈이라서 좋은데 문제는 스토리와 잘 어울리지 않는다는 거다. 커피, 헤비메탈, 외계인의 상관 관계가 뭔지 당최 알 수가 없다.
제작진이 벨트 스크롤 액션 게임 장르를 제대로 플레이 해보지도 않고 엉성하게 만든 티가 나는 졸작이다.

Extremely biased hitboxes, a complete lack of any meaningful hit-stunning, which is really great considering by level four, the amount of enemies on screen is around a dozen or more, and half of those have ranged attacks filling the screen with largely unavoidable ♥♥♥♥. The special attack is absolutely useless, and not even jump attack cheese can spare you from the poor game design and "random xD" storyline, nor would a second player for that matter.
Decent music and pixel art, but a beat 'em up needs a hell of a lot more than that to be even playable, let alone good.

Like others have said, it's an unbalanced mess. The problem with Coffee Crisis is that there's a lot of quantity over quality. Too many enemies. A good beat-'em-up has waves of enemies but in a controlled environment. You clear them and move forward. And in most cases they're the same. No RNG, you get the muscle memory to know how to clear the stage better the next time. This, though? If you think twenty enemies on the screen sounds bad, try having many of those pelting you with projectiles. I'm okay with losing if I deserved to lose, but there's no balance to this game. There's too many respawns and most things happen at random.
Speaking of beating the game, here's another thing you'll encounter: too many passwords. [i]ONE[/i] password is too many. I'm guessing the developers wanted to be cool and make it seem all retro with passwords. I mean, it really wouldn't be hard to implement save games in a Unity game. Especially when the alternative is your customers having to input dozens of passwords to overcome your poorly designed levels. It feels needlessly archaic. Even plenty of '90s games had battery backups on the cartridges.
Too many shaders. Why is this a thing? I thought it was kind of weird when it had graphics modes when I started it for the first time, like basic and ultra. Since I have a good system I went with ultra but I wondered why when it's a 2D game. Well it's because the developers decided to throw in a bunch of shaders for no apparent reason. I suppose they put them in because they look cool? (Which kind of contradicts the whole passwords because retro thing.) But the thing is, they don't look cool. They look annoying. You like being swarmed by enemies? Try it when the screen is divided into lots of distorted hexagons. I guess it's supposed to be like seeing the game through the eyes of a bee? But why? How about a fuzzy black/white one, or dozens of others? They serve no real purpose and they're a hindrance, not a help.
Player control feels very janky. I felt the need to completely abandon the use of weapons because of how cumbersome it is. Use weapons and you'll probably be pelted by projectiles without doing much damage to the enemies. You can make use of holding the punch button for a power attack, but even then some enemies are able to lunge and hit you before you have a chance. Getting hit that way or by the projectiles you'll always be attempting to dodge cancels the charged power attack.
Finally, too many dollars. Considering how flawed this is, the asking price is absurd. Fortunately I got it very cheap. You can get some true indie classics for this game's normal Steam cost. I'd say that you should only consider it for a dollar or two, but you'll almost certainly be disappointed so probably not even then. On the bright side, the music is fairly good and the pixel art is passable. Sadly, they're the only good things I can say about this game.
I'm doing a disservice to this game by not making it too far and still writing a review. But how can you blame me when the game doesn't really give you that much of a fair shot, even on Medium difficulty? The difficulty is just thrown out the window because the gameplay is inconsistent with it.
I want to really like what is here from this game, but it does a better job making sure that I don't when I'm playing it. The story and concept is silly, which is fine and intentional. The music is pretty good on top of it. The visuals are not shabby, you can tell they were looking to aim for a 16 bit feel of some sorts.
Man though when you try to actually PLAY it, that's where it gets to becoming a problem. All of the negative reviews I've read of this game, was confirmed by my experience. The hit detection is too loose, there's practically no stun in a beat-em-up game like this and you will get ganged up so easily that all of the strategy involved in a beat-em-up is out the window.
This is how you do a beat-em-up wrong.

Thought it would play similar to Streets of Rage, but it's just a clunky mess.
The music is the best part of the game. Terrible controls, terrible level balance, the game throws waves of AI at you after giving you 3 baddies in the first level. Tried to access to (super) secret level via level code and it was 100% broken. Couldn't back out of the menu, had to use task manager to close the game.
Feels like there was very little quality control put into this one.

Un beat'em up hecho por gente que no tiene idea de como funciona un beat'em up. No tienen idea de control de multitudes, de la importancia de dejarte espacio para esquivar ataques, de no poner 10 enemigos en pantalla que pueden tanquear todos tus ataques, de que la grafica de los ataques de tu personaje y sus hitbox coincidan (tu personaje tiene mucho menos alcance del que sugieren los sprites, y de hacer un personaje que se sienta poderoso y que te de la impresion que aprendiendolo a jugar seras capaz de progresar en las etapas. Si tienen ganas de un beat'em up similar pero verdaderamente entretenido les recomiendo Fist Puncher, olvidense de esta basura.

Jogo horrivel, só presta pra jogar usando as trapaças disponiveis do game, pois é uma briga de rua aonde voce leva golpes do nada, seus ataques não surtem efeitos. Unica coisa boa é a musica.
Seré claro y directo dando mi opinión sobre el juego. No me gustó en lo absoluto, me da un poco de lástima con los desarolladores pero tengo que ser sincero. Las 2 horas de alcancé a jugar me dio la impresión de que el juego estaba mal hecho. Por lo general en los juego Beat'em up estamos acostumbrados a una curva de dificultad que empieza bastante sencillo, hasta que literalmente no podemos descuidarnos o perdemos la partida. En Coffee Crisis desde el nivel 1 ya es bastante complicado (y eso que jugué en modo fácil, así que imagínense), hay hordas de enemigos constantemente que son casi imposibles de superar sin perder una vida a menos de que utilicemos los poderes (aumento de daño, invencibilidad, etc). De hecho, me atrevo a decir de que no hubiera podido pasarme el juego de no ser por los poderes. Puedo llegar a entender que algunos juegos de este género sean más complicados que otros, pero me parece una exageración la dificultad de Coffee Crisis.
Lo siento pero no puedo recomendar este juego, lo terminé simplemente porque me sabía mal dejarlo ahí de lado luego de gastarme el dinero en él (teniendo en cuenta de que ya era muy tarde para realizar el reembolso).

Do not buy this game if you are achievement hunter. Since two of the achievements are broken. Developer abandoned this game long time ago and not answering in steam discussion forums nor via email.
I really wanted to love this game. It's not the worst game I've played, but why bother when better games existed like Super Crush K.O., River City Underground, and Streets of Rage 4.

Coffee Crisis is side-scrolling, arcade style, beat ‘em up with a wacky story focussing on three of my favourite things; heavy metal, gaming, and of course, coffee! The game was a collaboration between Black Forge Coffee House, Mega Cat Studios, and Greywalker, which really explains the coffee, metal and wacky story. I took a look at Black Forge’s menu and they had some awesome looking stuff! I mean, drinks called Hellhound, Dragonaut, or Blood Eagle? Yes please! Anyway, you’re probably here to hear about the game. One of the cool things about the game is that was released on Sega Genesis and Megadrive in 2017. This, however, is a review of the Steam version, which released about a year after the Sega versions and may differ somewhat.
As with most games, you begin on the initial menu. As with, well, not most games, it’s complemented with some awesome sounding metal! You can select to play as Nick or Ashley, or start a two player co-op game. As you’d expect, the options are available here too, which I highly recommend looking at. Chances are you’ll be changing the difficulty at some point, and potentially modifiers too. There’s then a password option for jumping straight to different levels, or even putting in some cheats. There’s a Shopify button too, which looks as if it should be a means to buy the Genesis and Megadrive versions, but nothing seems to load, so I'm guessing that's no longer in use. Then there’s the standard exit/quit button - no big shock there.
I only played single player, playing through every level for the first time with Nick. The first thing I came across was a notice that I’m playing with modifiers, saying that they appear at the different stages of the game (where the screen stops scrolling until you clear the enemies), and that they can either help you or basically make your life hell, but you have to find that out for yourself. Some of these are crazy and have a real big impact one your game! You then jump into story, and from the very start you can tell it’s going to be complete silliness throughout, as it should be too!
The first level is only a small one, against three enemies, but it’s enough to get a general idea and feel for the controls and what you have to do. As is common for retro beat ‘em ups, there’s a basic attack (can be charged up), a special/more powerful attack (costs health), and a grab and throw type attack, as well as jump attacks. There’s certain objects you can break along the way, and different weapons that can be picked up and used to bash some alien skulls. Then there’s the modifier pickups as mentioned before. Their different effects vary drastically. Invincibility, for example, makes life hell of a lot easier, especially when you get it against a boss. Others make it difficult, sometimes near impossible, to see what’s happening, and others were what I often blamed for my death. I mean, I have to blame something. It can’t just be that I suck… Okay, maybe it was a slight mix modifier and suckage! There’s even a modifier that triggers a coffee drinking mini-game at the end of a level! I imagine this being much more entertaining in co-op, but it’s an easy extra life nonetheless.
The first couple of levels weren’t too chaotic, and generally helped with getting used to the gameplay and enemies, but the difficulty quickly ramped up! I managed to play to stage five or six (out of 14) before the real struggles began. The main thing that makes it so difficult is there are often a buttload of enemies attacking you, some melee, some ranged, but where beat ‘em up games usually have some form of delay/stun when you hit them, these guys take the hits like absolute bosses. You could be beating the crap out of some guy and he’s just smacking you right back. Doesn’t feel a thing. To be fair, it’s a game where you fight aliens and those possessed by aliens, so why should they feel pain? Each enemy does seem to have a cooldown after each of their attacks though, which can be used to take them out if timed right, but that doesn’t tend to help against hordes of aliens and possessed folk. So it’s different to most beat ‘em ups in that sense. I can appreciate them trying to do something a little different though, and it definitely helps make the game brutally challenging!
The music fit perfectly with the chaos and insanity throughout the whole game and it sounded awesome! The story is heavily focussed on metal, so it only makes sense that the tunes throughout the game are metal. Safe to say you may enjoy it a little less if you’re not a fan, but you can always chill on the pause menu instead. Seriously, you should check out the pause menu music! Simply perfect!
Coffee Crisis pays real homage to the classics with it’s amusing story, characters, and dialogue. Unfortunately, I feel the swarms of enemies that feel no pain drain some of the potential fun from the gameplay. It’s certainly not a relaxing, casual experience, with it being challenging no matter which difficulty it’s set at, but for those who like to test themselves, or want a little nostalgia, it’s likely worth a try. While it has its flaws, I feel the positives outweighed the negatives.

It had been years since I have played a beat em up game when I stumbled on this one. Controller support was nice. Right away I got back into the groove of things. Busting out a mix of quick and strong attacks. At level two I remembered to jump kick and beat the first boss that way. By level three I could tell something was a miss. My muscle memory was doing the work for me and I knew my inputs were correct my timing was correct. Why does it feel almost perfect, almost? Others say its the knock back or slight stun. You don't always get stun in these games but you get the knock back hit and you can jump. Sometimes you just spam jump kick in these games. I think it was the enemies reach. I could never stand in that sweet spot and just land some blows before another enemy would eventually sneak around behind me. It was hard enough managing the fight I had going on in front of me. Regardless of the problems with this game. I loved the retro style, it just felt really natural to be playing, the continue system was very nostalgic but needless overlapped with the three lives. Using a password as save points made my mind melt and took me back to the 90s. The Sound track was really good. I don't find the coffee gimmick all that interesting but its not the worst. Beating up aliens and spooks in suits is always good though. I got to gives this game a thumb up for reminding of this wonderful genre from the past.

The game reminded me of the old TMNT arcade games. Played the game for about an hour and got to level 11. It is a nice game to kill time. The powerups throughout the game are definitely helpful.

Coffee Crisis est un beat’em up rétro à l’ancienne, dans la veine de Streets of Rage ou Final Fight, mais avec une touche complètement déjantée : des baristas affrontent des aliens venus voler… notre café et notre musique metal ! 😆
Le jeu offre un vrai feeling arcade, avec des combos nerveux, des ennemis variés et une bande-son métal qui colle parfaitement à l’action. Le pixel art est réussi, plein de clins d’œil à la culture geek. Par contre, le gameplay peut devenir répétitif, et la difficulté parfois mal équilibrée, surtout en solo.
💭 En résumé : un bon défouloir rétro, fun et absurde, à savourer à deux avec une bonne dose de caféine.
🕹️ Note personnelle : 7/10

Кофейный Кризис, говоря откровенно, beat'em up ниже среднего, но тем не менее обладающий некоторыми достоинствами.
Начнём с того, что Mega Cat Studios в 20м году очень основательно выйдет на тропу производства игр "под старину" [Шутка ли, собираются выпустить 4 игры в пикселях, охватывающие практически все самые важные ретро-жанры... Bite the Bullet, к примеру оммаж на METAL SLUG и Mercenary Kings, думаю тут не стоит говорить о том, что очень тяжело будет дотянуться до уровня SNK и Пола Робертсона.]
И тут я имею огромную претензию - завсегда лучше выпустить одну, но крепко сделанную игру, чем 4 крайне средних.
[b] И так, что в Кофейном Кризисе мне не любо: [/b]
- Отсутствие колорита. Цвета крайне аляповато накиданы и выглядит как набор фламастеров: кричаще и безвкусно.
- Металл. Я не поклонник и к тому же, то ли сознательно, то ли по безалаберности при начале каждого уровня ползунок громкости завсегда стоит на максимуме. [Бесит невероятно!]
- Анимация крайне слаба и апеллирует к макаронному стилю, имевшему место быть на заре развития анимации как искусства.
- Качество пиксель-арта ниже среднего.
- Юмор мне не разу не смешной.
- Не на все клавиши клавиатуры можно переназначить управление. [Первый раз такое вижу - крайне не удобно, неимоверно бесит!]
- Сюжет / сценарий слаб и лучше бы его вообще не було.
[b] Что в кризисе кофейном нравится: [/b]
- Импонирует, тот факт, что Mega Cat Studios выбрали стезю ретро игр.
- Нравится, что Mega Cat Studios не боятся идти по миру с протянутой рукой. [Kickstarter ]
- ОЧЕНЬ понравилась находка с фильтрАми. Эта идея - единственная причина по которой рекомендую игру. [Некоторые усиливающие эффекты сопровождаются разными визуальными фильтрами. К сожалению от очень хороших до крайне идиoтcких.]
- Играется довольно бодро. [Ну собсно кофий и тяжёлый металл же.]
- Можно бить пенсов с клюками и ходунками.
- Вроде как планировали выпускать в виде картриджа на SMD. [К сожалению, доподлинно мне не известно выпустили ли они рабочие картриджи или просто муляжи.]
- Возможность играть как вдвоём за одной клавиатурой так и поддержка Steam Remote Play.

at first the game seems ok and fluid but then quickly turns into gitgud trash. not only do all enemies have better range attacks then you (all aliens have a gun) the game likes to spawn groups of enemies on top of you.

an unplayable mess made by people who have no idea how to make a beat'em'up game. anything after level 3 is unbeatable in single player because they spawn 10-14 enemies at you at once, most of them also shoot and your attack range is extremely short
Кофейный кризис действительно кризис.
Об этой игре я узнал чисто случайно несколько лет назад на одном сайте, тогда там была новость только про то, что игра делается для Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Сначала, я подумал "Круто, на старушку сегу делают что-то годное" и потом благополучно забыл о ней, пока не заимел эту самую игру уже в стиме. И спустя примерно полтора часа геймплея могу сказать, что это просто отвратительный битемап из всех что я видел. Проблема у игры одна и она рушит первое представление об игре. На каком бы уровне сложности ты не играл на тебя всегда будут накидывать толпы врагов. Я бросил играть на четвёртом (вроде как это четвёртый) уровне, где на меня в первые же минуты набросили ДЕСЯТЬ противников за раз. За полторы минуты драки с этими врагами я потерял три жизни просто потому что пока я бил двух врагов, остальные били меня. Ни в одном 2д битемапе, что на домашних консолях, что на аркадных автоматах ни одна игра не набрасывает на игрока столько врагов, что справиться без потерь с ними просто невозможно. На сеге есть сложные битемапы, которые требуют от тебя скилл, а не везением с мэшем кнопок, например, Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage. Да, сложно. Да, некоторые моменты могут быть нечестными, но игра требует от игрока только скилл. в Coffee Crisis о скилле никакой речи и быть не может. На тебя набрасывают толпу врагов, в которой легко можно себя потерять и из-за этого потратить драгоценные жизни. Лучше уж в другие битемапы поиграть чем в этот.
Could be a nice game but the enemies nearly have no hit-stun which makes the fighting feel very unsatisfying and the controls feel weird.
I can't recommend this game. 1 Level is very easy 30 seconds long. 2 level you will feel like game suddenly became harder to play. Like such increase in difficulty, why? Enemies jump on you from all sides and you can't do anything, I feel like devs had to adjust levels difficulty step by step. Also combat looks boring.

Кривейшая игра, с неотзывчивым управлением, хреновым звуком, невыразительной графикой и дурацким геймплеем. На ОпенБоре бесплатно и то стыдились выкладывать.

Coffee Crisis tenta imitar um beat'em up clássico, mas na prática nem de longe é parecido com jogos como Street of Rage ou Final Fight, sendo mais um jogo de ação, possuindo problemas seríssimos, como:
- Mecânica de combate é inexistente, personagem apenas anda e ataca não existindo nenhum tipo de refinamento no combate, ou seja, caso você esteja esperando algo tipo Street of Rage fuja desse jogo;
- Não existe nenhum tipo de estrategia efetiva nos chefes, por exemplo, o chefão final ataca quase que interruptamente, não existindo nenhum tipo de brecha para evitar seus ataques de forma segura, portanto ficar atacando continuamente parado na frente dele acaba sendo a melhor coisa em qualquer nível de dificuldade. Isso é quase uma regra nos chefes desse jogo, ou seja, caso você tente fugir ou evitar os ataques irá perder mais energia do que se tivesse ficado parado atacando sem parar;
- Provavelmente +80% dos inimigos atacam com projeteis. Isso é um erro bem comum em jogos retro modernos que tentam imitar beat'em ups, o problema desse conceito é que isso na prática não aumenta o desafio, apenas modifica seu "estilo de combate" à algo bem longe daquele dos beat'em up clássicos;
- Problemas de level designer, por exemplo, objetos de cenários que só podem ser quebrados com ataque normal (voadora e especial não funcionam) ou elementos de cenário do tipo lava que causam dano apenas nos protagonistas;
- São 2 personagens, mas Nick é absurdamente melhor que Ashley;
- Na fase com lava é percebido nitidamente que há um atraso considerável na execução do pulo, por exemplo, normalmente o botão de pulo é pressionado simultaneamente com o direcional, mas aqui é necessário esperar o boneco estar no ar para então dar a direção;
- Cam Modifiers. É possível desliga-lo no option, basicamente a câmera fica mudando para vários tipos de mods diferentes, mas na prática isso prejudica muito a visão como aquele onde tela fica com pequenos hexágonos (tipo visão de mosca), portanto é uma função inútil;
Resumindo, os gráficos e a trilha sonora são muito bons, também não é muito desafiador depois que você percebe que utilizar continuamente o especial do Nick para fazer "montinhos" é a base do "combate", mas o fato é que Coffee Crisis não parece em absolutamente nada nenhum beat'em up clássico e seu estilo não conseguiu me agradar nem um pouco, portanto não o recomendo.

Boring, enemies have too much health, repeats same thing each level, story makes no sense, dialogue and cut scenes make no sense... it's not even just plot holes and suspension of disbelief it's like it literally makes no sense as if things are missing. For $2 it's not a terrible thing I guess but it's not great and it's not good either.
Coffee Crisis is a beat 'em up that lacks lots of basics, however it redeems itself with some cool style of old, unfortunately that is not enough...

It is a silly plot, aliens invade earth to take the best music ever created, Metal and also our coffee. It's up to two baristas to get rid of the menace through an inhuman amount of coffee ingestion.
[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
It's a simple beat 'em up, though it offers some new ideas to spice up the gameplay, by adding some modifiers that at certain points alter the style of the game by making enemies more powerful or by giving the screen this sensation of an old TV set, among others. The variety of enemies is good, all of them have different attacks, from range to melee attacks, we also have passwords every time we beat a stage so we continue playing later, this makes the game a bit more tolerable. The problem is Coffee Crisis forgets about the basics of pretty much every good beat 'em up.
[h1]Sound and Music[/h1]
The devs clearly love death metal, because the soundtrack is pretty much metal riff after metal riff, which is great, the whole game breaths metal, from the baristas, to the whole atmosphere of concerts, music and metalheads, however most of the time the metal music makes it difficult to listen to the rest of the audio sounds, just tweak the sound options and you are all set.
[h1]Graphics[/h1]
The game offers a classic style from the time of NES and SNES, it looks great, old school all over. No more no less.
[h1]The bad[/h1]
It doesn't matter how good the game looks, how great the music is, the gameplay suffers from the most punishing mechanics a game like this can offer, it all starts quite easy, even on the most difficult option, however, it doesn't matter what you do, the enemies will suddenly swarm you, giving you no respite to plan a decent attack, or retreat to catch a breath, recover and attack again, it even feels the difficulty varies from easy to normal, then back to easy to end up being extremely difficult.
This is not the only problem the game has, there is also a very annoying lag with the main characters attacks which makes the gameplay even more punishing, but not only that, enemies hitboxes seem to fail even when in front of them, to make things worse, the attack range is very short forcing you to stay really close to the enemies, but you can't do much, because they swarm you from every place, considering that 70% of the enemies have range attacks it makes things even worse, it feels the devs really wanted you get frustrated easily because that is what pretty much happens.
That is not even the end of the bad in this game, when facing enemies it is normal for a decent beat 'em up to hit an enemy and they will stop attacking, this doesn't happen here, they can avoid your attacks easily by moving away, they can knock you back with range attacks, there are no combos and the only option you end up using is aerial attacks and this is when the game forces you to quit or continue, but getting tired of the unfair gameplay.
There are also some scenarios that sometimes offer some sort of distortion that may look cool and old school, however the amount of enemies that attack you at once, these distortions that change the effects and style of the game, only add to the confusion of where you are supposed to be, sometimes your character gets lost in the middle of the chaos, enemies and effects, which ends up with you dying.
[h1]Conclusion[/h1]
Coffee Crisis had some much potential, it looks great, it just plays bad, some decisions were made here that totally affected the game in a terrible way and I doubt the many issues are gonna be fixed any time soon. I which I could give the game a mixed review, I had some fun, but the cons outweigh the pros.
If you still want to play the game because of the looks, just be aware the game has the potential to induce rage quits.
Played this game for one session with another player locally. The first level barely qualifies as a level, we would beat it in less than a minute sometimes. The second level makes such a leap in difficulty from there that it was effectively unplayable. It doesn't feel polished, can't recommend.

Zurras, zurras, zurras y zurras y de repente estas reciviendo palos. La dinamica de golpes es inexistente y para nada satisfactoria. Salvo que le cambien algo en la dinamica de juego, no lo recomiendo.

A weird beat 'em up!
Honestly, I can't get enough of these weird beat 'em up games. Reminds me of all the old NES games I used to rent in high school.
It's an interesting game, has a kind of a unique story, and can be pretty unforgiving at times.

Save the Metal, Save the World, Save the Coffee!
I can’t really think of a tagline that I agree with more than the above from Mega Cat Studio’s new release, Coffee Crisis. Metal’s great, love coffee, the world…it’s okay at times. So what’s the deal with Coffee Crisis?
The story kicks off with an alien invasion where the Smurglien race has taken notice of Earth’s World Wide Web and were impressed enough to create their own internet, hidden within our own. You then… quite abruptly, take over as one of our protagonists, barista’s Nick and Ashley, to fight off alien’s that have invaded the barista you work at. You go on an adventure through multiple stages to stop the alien invasion from continuing on Earth.
The gameplay is pretty standard for beat ‘em ups. You have your basic attack and jump buttons, a spin attack that’s on cooldown, a charged attack and the ability to throw enemies. Along with basic controls, you can pick up and use various weapons throughout each level as well for more variation in combat.
There is a modifier system that is explained at the start of the game. At the end of every stage finish zone, you are randomly applied 1-5 modifiers for the next stage. They can either be good or bad for the player depending on which you receive. Some revolve around enemy spawning, enemy powerups, player powerups and various other mods that do ‘crazy things’.
The game then explains that modifiers are actually built into Twitch and Mixer. Your audience can vote for specific modifiers they want you as the streamer to receive. This isn’t something I was able to test out for this review, but I always enjoy when developers add details like this. Splasher did something similar for the speedrunning community which I mention in the March 2018 Humble Monthly Roundup.
As fun as the modifier system sounds, I didn’t really know what was going on with them throughout my playthrough. The second level takes place on a baseball field and you have to fight two Turk looking fellows. The level starts, they disappear, so I move on to the next level. I have no idea if this was intended or a modifier from the first level activating.
Also, about a half hour into the game, I was on my way towards a coffee farm to protect some coffee beans. The screen started shaking, over ten enemies show up and made the stage unplayable. I stuttered around the screen trying to kill off enemies to reduce the lag but to not avail. I don’t have some piddly computer either. This is a 2d beat ‘em up game that stuttered to the point that I couldn’t continue.
I died, and returned with my stage password. The level then started and ran smoothly. I’m guessing I got a stage shaking modifier which coupled with a large enemy spawn modifier, made the stage unplayable? I’m honestly not sure what happened there.
At the end of the day, after reading the tagline, I was hoping that the ideas of metal, coffee and aliens would mesh a bit better. While killing enemies to various metal songs should be fun, it seemed more out of place and separated from the narrative. Instead of having a few themes or ideas weaving together, they just felt like very stark different things placed on top of each other.
Another popular metal influenced game is 2009’s Brutal Legend. You play as roadie Eddie Riggs as you fight off demons using the power of heavy metal. In Brutal legend, demons and metal go hand in hand. Having metal in the game made sense because its narrative is weaved into the story. You use your guitar to slay demons, get powered by metal music and summon items with solos.
Instead of the story abruptly leading into aliens just walking into a barista, and metal fan barista’s fighting back aliens; it would have been nice if everything tied together. What if the alien race tapped into metal as a means to brainwash everyone, blasting it over speakers everywhere to turn them mad? It would have made sense to have metal playing over the action. Instead, we have a few random references to metal, but it just didn’t really land for me.
That being said, Coffee Crisis is fun for what it is, a 2d beat ‘em up game with aliens and metal music. The pixelated graphics are fun, it’s definitely unique and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t fun running around and smacking old grannies with a bag of coffee beans.

O que tem a ver combinação rock, café e alienígenas?! Energia, muita energia!!! Coffee Crisis é um game de beat em' up bem porreta, lançado para Windows, Linux, MacOS e Mega Drive (isso mesmo, e em 2017!!)
A jogabilidade é no mínimo estranha, e é aqui que muita gente negativa o jogo, principalmente nos momentos que a tela fica abarrotada de inimigos gerando uma sequência de apelações sem muito nexo e no meio de uma confusão de imagens (propositais sim, mas desnecessárias). Além disso, o game possui poucas variações de golpes e os controles não são tão fluidos.
Os gráficos são retro de plataforma 16 bits "padrão saudosismo", os efeitos sonoros são razoáveis e as músicas são TOP's, Rock Pesado!! O game pode ser jogado em Co-op local e apresenta um nível de dificuldade bem alto, até no modo Normal. AH!!! A história?! Louca, como deveria ser.
No geral o game passa na risca e até recomendo (principalmente pelo preço em épocas de promoção), mas tem muitos outros games de beat m' up beeeeeeeem melhores por aqui.
The plot is nonsensical, which is intentional, but it's also just plain bad. (And the text is annoying to scroll through, which really doesn't help.)
The controls are sluggish, too - there's a few frames between you hitting the jump button and the character actually jumping. And the difficulty ramps up quickly, which isn't fun. So you mash buttons (there's only one attack button, no interesting combos!) until you win or die, occasionally maneuvering to avoid the worst of the attackers. And there aren't any save slots - just codes. I get that this is recreating the Games Of Yore, but I *played* those, and save codes were the feature I missed least.
Coffee Crisis es un excelente beat em' up cuya inspiración se remota a los grandes clásicos de los 16 bits de Mega Drive para traernos una experiencia ya conocida, pero con una gran dosis de humor negro, heavy metal y mucha cafeína. Es un título muy recomendado para quienes gustan de los beat em' up de la vieja escuela, ya que no solo recurre a un atractivo pixel art sino que tmabién posee una excelente jugabilidad bastante intuitiva aunque muchas veces los enemigos vienen en oleadas tan grandes que no podemos respirar.

O jogo e muito bom ótimos gráficos ótimos personagens e inimigos porem a jogabilidade e escorregadia fazendo com que você corra mais rápido que a velocidade da luz tornando o jogo irritante e desagradável de se jogar morri varias vezes por causa da jogabilidade que não me deixou acertar um soco se quer nos inimigos desse jogo isso e frustrante pois esse e um jogo muito bom e com grande potencial oque me fez pedi reembolso logo apos 30 minutos de game play se tivéssemos uma disputa de velocidade para saber quem e mais rápido entre o sonic da sega e o flash da DC esse jogo ganharia em primeiro lugar porque você aperta para frente e o personagem parece que esta com gelo nos sapatos de tao escorregadia que e a jogabilidade nota que eu daria para esse jogo e 6,7/10
