这个题材是少见的法国抗战（而且还是游击队）题材，我很感兴趣，但是有些关卡设计的实在是太反人类了...

A good game, ultimately flawed, but not in concept-the basic combat system is very solid and rewarding. It falls apart on the exterior systems such as the campaign and character customization, which aren't nearly as solid. Here's hoping for a 2nd game in the series, it truly deserves it.

Прошёл игру на средней и высокой сложности, потом попробовал на лёгкой. Почему-то на лёгкой сложности играть было комфортнее всего. Думаю, что на высокой сложности правила игры просто перестают работать (вы не получаете преимуществ от правильно выбранной тактики).

Отдельно хочется отметить нарратив. Первые два прохождения читал все тексты, на третьем стал проматывать. И о чудо играть стало интереснее. Нарратив сильно просаживает игровую динамику.

Игра добротная, многое сделали хорошо, но не всё. Видно, что на всё рук не хватило. Мне было интересно, рекомендую

Top! Rundenbasierte Taktik par excelance! Hocher Anspruch ohne dabei unfair zu sein. Besonders gefallen haben mir die Vielfalt der Missionen, es gibt kein Schema X nachdem man es ab arbeitet wie in vielen anderen. Mal kann mal mehr silent kills machen, mal weniger mal gar keine, mal direkt losballern mal ewig sneaken um die Nebenziele zu erreichen. Immer anders und immer gut! Der solide recherchierte historische Hintergrund setzt noch das Sahnehäubchen auf!

Classsified: France '44 is a recommend from me, with some caveats. It's a fun-enough x-com style turn based game set in WWII and I did enjoy my time with it. The setting makes it unique enough and I enjoyed the premise. The gameplay is fun and functional once you figure out the mechanics. I didn't mind the morale system, I found it useful and added another layer of strategic depth... and its good to see developers trying new tweaks to a tried and true formula.
The missions are reasonably varied and the game is challenging enough without it being frustrating (normal difficulty). I remeber x-comn being more difficult to start with.
Graphics are decent. They do the job, they set the tone and communicate that WWII European atmosphere, as does the sound. In fact most ofd the game's systems and design probably all fall in 7 out of 10 range.
Some negatives I would suggest are the sluggish UI. I found myself wanting the messages presented after each battle to hurry up, not being able to click through them. Also in battle I often found myself accidently clicking because I though a UI message or notification was over, when it wasn't. This was slightly annoying as there is no undo function.
The narritive is barebones and not very engaging, but come the end of the campaign I"m familiar enough with each character and appreciate their strengths and slight diversity.

In all, if you're a fan of X-COM style games, and/or a fan of WWII, I would recommend this game. I found it enjoyable and engaging enough that I came back to it each evening until completing in 33 hours.

Surprisingly good despite the bad reviews I've read.

If I had to sum it up, it's the WW2 version of XCOM - Chimera Squad, but in a good way.

The limited resources & personnel really get you into the "resistance guerilla group" way of thinking. The "endless" reinforcements on the enemy side as well, as it was WW2 and the Germans dominated EU for a good time. It really makes the setting believable in the game. Plus once your objectives are fulfilled, you're supposed to flee and not fight until all enemies are dead.

Another aspect that was interesting was choosing between the loot missions bring, which faction to help (in order to control territories) to have access to better equipment and bonuses, and reinforcing the Allies' strength for D-day preprations. I enjoyed my first playthrough and definitely will replay it again as I failed to obtain 100% "strength" for the allies before D-day.

I don't understand how some reviews say the upgrades and classes feel the same and don't make much of a difference, because in my playthrough I could definitely feel the specific use of each character as I upgraded their skills and bought certain weapons.

It's a very solid game made by a small studio. I hope to see more from them as this was their debut game since opening in 2019. I can only imagine how even better this game could've been, had they had the same means as 2K did with XCOM - Chimera Squad. But as it stands, I still recommend this game.

To much cloak and dagger sneak around trying not to get spotted and not enough straight up fighting. Your always discovered and consequently wiped out by stronger forces that out number you 5 to 1. Had a chance to be a good game if not for the impossible missions dealt out. Save your money.

Really tried to like it, but it is just too much of the same thing. The classes feel all the same and no upgrade feels really rewarding. Infinite waves - and the best way to clear them is to run to the enemy without trying to get into cover. Overall just a really bad experience. Shop items are boring too. You keep hoping it gets better, but it doesn't. Got it at 75% off, but it still isn't worth it

It is a bit buggy, but you can save, so that's only ever really gonna cost you another go, nothing appalling.

I get that people don't like the fiddle of some of the less conventional features, but for me those are often what's making the fun bits fun - cracking that nut. But of course it's frustrating and kind of odd at times - but you get that in games like this where you play the squares and action points, rather than a total reality of the graphical situation.

I'd say there is enough immersion to make it more than just moving pieces on a board. And at discount there is easily enough here to make it worth the time ihmo

Classified: France ’44 plays kind of like an XCOM-style tactics game. The gameplay focuses on guerrilla-style missions with a small 4-person squad taking on larger enemy forces. It has some unique systems compared to other games — like the suppression fire mechanic, and the faction system where different groups give you bonus stats and different weapons.

The campaign runs on a timer of about 50-something days leading up to D-Day, and then the game ends. You can recruit more teammates along the way, but they’re randomized each run, so you might not get the same companions in a new playthrough.

Even on normal difficulty, the challenge mostly comes from not knowing what you’re going to run into. Overall, it’s fun, and the stealth gameplay feels tense in a good way.

The downsides I noticed: I wish you could toggle or adjust how often the cinematic kill shots trigger when finishing enemies, because personally I’d like to see more camera variety. Another issue is that enemy positions are fixed, so on repeat playthroughs you’ll run into the same setups. Once you figure out the meta, it might reduce the replay value.

Please do not link every game thats walks turn based like xcom.....

The few problems i had was.... i dont find the skills impressive after upgrading... the classes dont become alot better like in xcom...

the game... is at most a 5/10 for me... i gave up like 6hrs into game.... the game jus do not makes it feel exciting and want to continue to play more...

i didnt encounter any game breaking bug was ok to play. but jus not as amazing as the people says and its far from xcom...

i love xcom and ww2 history so was excited to play this unfortunately while the basics are here for a good game it has baffling design decisions that make it not fun to play.

its like they learned nothing from xcom 2 timers are not fun you have a certain amount of days to finish the game just like xcom 2 i could forgive that if the missions didnt have infinitely spawning enemies im sorry but that ruins the game for me.

its a shame because the other aspects of the game are great

I feel like almost every WWII game made in the last 10 years have exactly the same characters, and this game feels like a textbook example. I think they were genuinely trying to make me feel like I was leading a squad of individual badasses, but it just felt like a parade of unmemorable cliches, and by the time I got through the tutorial and into the story proper I had already stopped caring.

I honestly feel like this game should get a lot more attention. I love that you can gain reputation with factions, choose your missions, and choose your party members. It is a super fun take on WW2 games. Having the game set before the D-Day invasion of Europe is a unique quality as well!

Realistic combat my ass? What? Enemies will hit you from across the screen. You can be at point blank range and miss or do very little damage. Lazy programing. Rather than make it challenging in an intelligent way. They just made enemies able to get away with impossible shots and avoid even close quarters shots...

굳이 엑스컴이 있는데 이 게임을 할만한 매력을 못 느꼈음. 일단 캐릭터 명령 후 수행 완료까지 다른 애들 명령 못 내리고 화면 고정되는 것도 너무 느릿느릿한 진행인데 카메라 이동속도나 조작 편의성이 최근 게임이라고는 믿기 힘들 정도로 느림. 24년 게임 치고는 너무 편의성이 떨어지는 게 아닌가 싶음. 계속하고 싶은 매력도 없음.

I really really really wanted to like this game, I played through one campaign to see if the issues I had with it would get better, but they did not. The ideas are absolutely fantastic the execution is absolutely not. The biggest issue I had was with lots of bugs, the camera was finicky, the animations often did work (LOTS of air getting stabbed), and the controls we not responsive resulting in many misplaced actions and reloading. Couple of examples of great ideas poor execution. The biggest for me was the ambush mechanic, SUPER cool idea, SUPER easy to cheese. The guards sight paths did not make sense with the environment. Some things would fully block their view other times not. They would detect you for no reason and other times when they should have wouldn't. It didn't feel like sneaking up to shank a baddie, it felt like playing the floor is lava. The other main offender was the overworld map. Manage a team across France, SUPER cool idea. having one or two options of missions, often that didn't drive your overall strategy, SUPER lame. it didn't really seem like the choices made there mattered. Yes, some of the missions were this or that. But most of the time it was do these three missions then we will give you three more didn't feel like there was a progression path or that the missions I chose led me to the new ones. There are a lot of xcom style strategy games out there and while this game adds some really interesting ideas, I hope another dev can pick them up and make them sing. I did enjoy being told repeatedly that I was good at killing fascists though, that felt nice.

Some of the gameplay mechanics in this are genuinely infuriating.

The morale system is the biggest BS I've ever seen. With the 'broken' status, a single unit type can lock down your entire team through perma-stunning, regardless of how much HP you've built, or even morale resistance for that matter. 'Wah wah he sprayed machine gun at me,' cry these pathetic soldiers.

Playing stealthy could be great, except it "rewards" you with an ambush turn after getting like 4 stealth kills, meaning that all enemies on the map immediately know where all your players are regardless of their position.

Some of the cover is absolutely not programmed correctly, some walls act like paper, even 2-3 units thick. And you can even be stabbed through the walls.

Outside of the gameplay, the surrounding map system and squad management is absolutely unengaging, but don't worry, you'll be watching 10 minutes of pieces moving every time you end a mission.

I'm sure this is not unique among this genre of XCOM-like RTS games, but the difficulty ramp is impossible to understand. Just when you think a mission is getting engagingly difficult, a wave of reinforcements is spawned, entirely surrounding you, twice as big as the original force.

To top it all off, half my playtime is spent in the loading screen. Why does a "Quicksave" system take 45 seconds to load on my god-tier PC.

[b]- I'm writing this review over a year after I first completed the main campaign, and I'm disappointed to see that the current reviews are mixed and this game doesn't have more than a thousand reviews. Classified: France '44 is the video game equivalent to Inglourious Basterds and is loosely based on the classic XCOM games and the board game Gloomhaven. What sets this game apart from other turn based strategy games is the inclusion of a suppression mechanic that gives you more control over a firefight compared to the less predictable gameplay flow of XCOM. Generally speaking, you're performance in combat will reflect you're proficiency to activate your units abilities in the correct order and minimize the reaction capability of your Wehrmacht opponents. Personally, I found the gameplay loop in Classified: France '44 to be satisfying, and this aspect is improved by the charming art style and the context of the campaign being a prelude to Operation Overlord. I admire how the stakes of the game increase as the campaign approaches the onset of D-Day, and I wish more people would discuss this game on the internet. Lastly, I'd like to admit that my review was partially inspired by bigmac644's review.[/b]

What it actually looks like:

Environment art is fairly realistic and atmospheric, with war-torn villages, barns, forests, and nighttime missions that lean into tension and foggy vistas, not bright, cheerful art.

Character models and animations have been criticized as stiff or dated, which sometimes unintentionally creates a slightly surreal or less polished feel — but not a “Disney cartoon” style.

There’s no exaggerated color palette or whimsical animation; the art direction is aiming for a grounded WWII look, even if it doesn’t match the polish of larger AAA titles.

So if what you mean by “almost Disney visual” is more stylized or less realistic than AAA tactical games — that feeling can come from quality limitations or simplified animation, not from any intentional cute or cartoon-like aesthetic.
