I was going to 100% this, but it's so boring and aggravating that I just can't and won't.
It didn't take long to start disliking this when I first booted it up. Seriously... it was less than 30 minutes, when I started dreading this. I could have turned it off and refunded it as I just knew it wasn't going to get better, but for some reason I wanted to annoy myself and decided to play until the end. I was going to try and explore everything but after a couple hours, I couldn't be bothered and then just decided to get through the game as quickly as I could.
The controls are so wonky and you cannot configure them. I played with keyboard. You move with the arrow keys, you attack with Z, and the two item/tool buttons are X and C. You interact with NPCs and furniture/signs with Z. So you may swing your sword instead of interacting with something, or vice versa. Lily controls weirdly and hitboxes are sometimes wonky.
I did not really like any of the music, especially the freaking castle town music, which was getting on my nerves and giving me a headache. (I had to turn down the music volume a lot.)
Every item uses the stamina/energy/magic meter (Whatever it's called.) Yes, the bombs and bow. There's no quantity to arrows or bombs, even the boomerang uses the meter, you just have to wait and let the meter recharge to use the items again.

The side quests are just "Fetch" quests, As in a character wants 20 of whatever they ask of you and you have to go kill the mob that drops it over and over again until you get the 20 materials and then bring it back to them. The material does not drop from every single mob, so you will more than likely have to kill more than 20 of the specific enemy type. So although it shouldn't take very long considering you can easily reset the enemies by leaving the room/zone and then enter it again, it's kinda tedious and boring, and two(?) defend the NPC for a minute or so from small waves of enemies quests. OH and a deliver the mail to a specific NPC in a specific area quest. You have to do this like 7 or 6 times. (Very boring and tedious in this game.) You get an achievement if you complete the whole quest, but I didn't because the last person you have to deliver to is the the traveling merchant guy who's apparently only available between 9AM-5PM REAL TIME!

The writing of both the story and dialogue is very childish, which obviously means this game is meant for kids, but then there's the terrible controls, the repetitive and semi-annoying puzzles (especially the singing stones puzzles), the bullet hell-like damage sponge boss fights, and the rage-inducing crumbling pathways/bridges. There's a really annoying secret basement in one of the "towns" where the challenge is a narrow crumbling pathway/bridge that goes on for too long, and if you fall, it sends you back to the beginning of the room. (I also can't imagine kids wanting to play random indie games, let alone pixel indie games. If they're into the graphics and old-school games, then they're just going to play the iconic/classic/popular old games.) So the age rating is kinda all over the place.

A random NPC literally says: "I'm Jennifer, or Jen for short. Or J Dawg, J Drizzle, J to the Pizzo, Little J, Jiggy J, Jay J, whatevs."

Why?

The "About The Game" section of the game's page lists these "Features":

"15+ hours of gameplay" - (This is only true if you do the boring side content / go for 100%. Otherwise, the main story is less than 6 hours. A couple of my hours are AFK hours.)

"Huge, diverse game world with many different locations" - (I feel like this sentence is kinda a lie. Sure the world is kinda big (Not huge), but your character (Lily) gets stuck/slowed down on a lot of a lot of crap, making you traverse the map a lot slower. And it's not really diverse with "many" different locations. Most of them are pretty empty and are practically just the same as the previous zone.)

"5 challenging dungeons" - (Boring, straightforward and way too long? Yes. Challenging? No.)

"Various items impacting gameplay and fighting style" - (There weren't a TON of different items, despite what some reviewers say, but anyways, there's really not much reason to use them other than the bombs and your sword.)

"Fun, charming storytelling" - (No. It got old quick, and the characters (Grandpa, Lily and Chrys) story "interruptions" felt pointless and kinda broke the immersion. Also why did the game have to spell Chris like that... and I'm surprised Chrys didn't care that Grandpa put his sister in the story, making her the hero, and didn't feel the need to put Chrys in it lol.)

This is not worth the $15 price tag. I got it for $4 and I can't even recommend it at that price. I really wanted to play more zelda-like/clones, which, I mean, I did, this is very obviously inspired by TLoZ, but it all felt a bit "off", like I was playing a custom game on Warcraft 3. (Weird, I know, but it just gave me those vibes.)

Bueno, de entrada les digo que tiene un aire a "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past", la mecanica es la misma y si les gusta ese estilo entonces este juego les va a gustar.

- La Historia no es wow pero sirve para dar gameplay, es lo mas simple que hay ya que literalmente es un abuelo contandole una historia de fantasia a sus nietos, entre ellos esta su nieta la cual se llama Lily y es la prota de la historia.

- Los Personajes son super simples pero funcionan, los diseños estan bien y los mapas tambien.

- La Banda Sonora creo que es lo que mas me gusto, la musica que esta en el Pantano me encanta.

- La Dificultad no la elegis, viene por default y yo diria que esta entre un Facil y Normal, obviamente digo eso por como yo jugue en cuanto a Habilidad con este tipo de juegos.
Diria que lo mas complicado del juego no son los enemigos ni los Jefes, son los "Puzzles", si se te dan mal los puzzles entonces si se te va a Complicar.
Hay que usar mucho el Coco pero tambien hacer uso de "Memoria", si encuentran una casa en el Bosque con un mago adentro quiero que sepan que yo ahi estuve buen rato tratando de completar el minijuego de "Memoria" (Se me da Fatal XD).

Yo intente platinarme este juego pero lo termine dropeando porque estaba harto de buscar todos los coleccionables XD, estaban re escondidos y algunos no sabia como llegar a donde estaban.

Una Cosa que me podria quejar de este juego es que no hay una opcion de correr por lo tanto vas caminando durante todo el juego. Mas adelante te dan un dash pero consume mucha Stamina asi que terminas yendo a pata todo el juego XD.
Menos Mal que hay muchos "Puntos de Teletransportes".

Lo jugue con teclado y no fue complejo, es sencillo.

A mi me parecio divertido, hubo algunos puzzles que me hicieron tomar mi tiempo para solucionarlos pero al final se pudo. Yo recomiendo que se pasen el juego hasta el modo historia, lo de platinarlo es un poco pereza porque algunas cosas estan muy ocultas, encima no hay tantas guias de este juego para explicarte donde estan exactamente.

Plays just like Zelda a Link to the Past for the retro systems. I played a lot of those 2D Zelda games and really enjoyed them. This game scratched that itch.

Worked great on Steamdeck -- designed for booting up, play for 5-20 minute, then put down. It has auto-saving, summarizes the story to catch you up again, and the HUD/map tells you where you need to go next. Still allows you to explore a lot and rewards you for it.

I explored a lot, and it made the main storyline that much easier -- exploration gives you bonus hearts and bonus weapons. While not required, they make the main storyline much easier.

There is some weird dualism going on where you kinda have one parent who tries to educate you through adversity and wants you to go into the unknown with little info and figure it out on your own (Zelda 1, Metroid 1).

Buuut on the other end of the table there's the parent who really works their ass off in trying to give you the smoothest and most enjoyable experience possible with low risk of headaches (OoT and later, Zero Mission)

I am partial to the first one in games. Nearly without exception - I think people forget how much we could power through even as toddlers in these - but having BOTH is the worst since they'll just jank you and your expectations all over the place.

The combat is way more blunt and bombastic by the first dungeon than almost any Zelda tried at any point, ever. Except maybe Level 5 and 8 blue Darknuts... And I'm down with that. So down with that! But why do I lug around 5+ ressurects and a small brewery too? And the game has a million warp points so I don't have to understand the space of anything. Super linear dungeons so far too...

It's a fine game, great at moments, and it's awesome to be the overlethal terror of the world - with about 50 IQ, a dress, and confidence to rival some sports stars and sheer iron will. It's awesome and I don't know that any other game ever made me like the self-insert at all. But it's a very torn experience and feels a lot like too many cooks with different ideas.

I'm also playing Tunic right now and it has a fantastic, masterful focus on what it wants to be, and it never breaks character that I know. But this game feels a bit like the meta-kids are actually fighting over the game design, and it's a shame -- there's a bunch to like here but won't love it anytime soon.

I belive the game does enough of its own thing to not be considered a "Zelda clone".
Story and dialogues are cool and there is good sense of humor.

Looking forward to play the next entry!

My only very personal complain:
- As a color blind person, identifying where I am in the map was a strong struggle - I had to ask my wife and daughter for help - a nice little touch would let the player choose the player color in the map :)

I love the super Nintendo game A link to the past and the gameboy game Link's awakening. I played them over and over as a kid and adult. I saw this game and thought it would be perfect for me. At first its everything I wanted it to be and really enjoyed it. At some point in the game i get to a dungeon that just goes on and on and on until i just got bored. It wasn't hard or anything. It was way too long and uninteresting that i finally just installed it.

Decent classic TLoZ clone with some baffling design decisions. It's a good game for Steam Deck.

·The story is a tale that Grandpa narrates to his two grandchildren, with one of them as the protagonist, and it changes depending on how he feels or the kids react, and sometimes gives you an option to select what happens next. When you load a savegame there is a segment where Grandpa goes "Where were we?..." and gives a recap. It's cute.

·There are many small side quests and secrets. All of them fetch quests and very obvious bomb cracks or hidden holes in the ground.
·Settings are very limited. At least there is Steam Cloud Support.
·Music was surprisingly enjoyable, but audio mixing could be better, some trap sounds are way louder that other sounds.
·I get what the inspiration is but the movement speed feels too low for an exploration game and there is no upgrade other than a dash item that consumes meter, has very low range, and kills your momentum afterwards.
·You also don't get a "teleport whenever you want" item until you beat the game and the fixed teleport locations are not always at the best places.
·Edge detection near pitfalls and falling floors feels iffy. Don't even try to play with joystick, use d-pad.
·There is something weird with the way the game does the pick/throw items and direct bomb throwing. It's like if you press diagonal it sometimes does not work properly. Again, don't bother with a joystick, it feels bad.
·There is a gimmick with a merchant that only appears at working hours. Either you don't have work to do or they force you to change the system clock. Hate that kind of design choice to be honest.

The thing I disliked the most about the game is the difficulty and design inconsistency. It's like they couldn't decide what the target audience was:
·They tell you where to go next in the map. You simply can't get lost if you don't want to.
·They give you way too many hearts too early. I had 10 hearts for the second dungeon boss fight.
·I believe there isn't a single damage source that doesn't deal more that half a heart. You can tank long lava corridors and any trap like you are invincible. There is no challenge at all in exploration.
·They give you potions that heal all your hearts and auto-revive items like candy. There are also potions that straight up make you invincible for a time if you use them.
·There are no consumable weapons to manage. Everything is tied to a meter that regenerates constantly.

But then:
·The bosses are almost bullet-hell, HP sponges, with fast near undodgeable attacks sometimes (not that it matters).
·Obtuse puzzle that could be interpreted in many ways and so you either have to check the solution somewhere or brute force it.
·Randomized memory puzzles that reset after every mistake AND correct answer. This wouldn't be a bad thing if not for the fact that they are TEN layers deep and you have to do it all over again if you fail and it doesn't give you any time to take notes. There is no way that a young player is going to be able to complete this kind of thing, as it is hard even for adults.
·Some but not all of the other kind of puzzles (sliding blocks) also feel harder than they should be.
·There are segments with narrow falling platforms and player tracking projectile traps that are a complete nightmare. I gave up at one of these in the last dungeon because it was feeling miserable and not worth the time anymore.

So is the target audience young kids that might have difficulty completing basic challenges? Or is it adults that know what they are doing? Either way the game feels like it wasn't bad enough to drop but also not enjoyable overall. One of these that are there just to pass the time.

Cute little Zelda-like game. I enjoyed the lighthearted storytime presentation. The different tools and spells are fun to experiment with, even though many of them seem a little redundant. The art is very nice, and the combat works well enough.

My biggest criticism is that there are too many enemies, especially in the later stages. Also, the store page stretches the truth a bit regarding the length and scope. I beat the game in 6.5 hours, not 15+.

All in all, I had fun with it. It's a good game to beat on weekend.

Los puzzles de simon dice estan re mal hechos xD siempre tienen que ser diferentes o de otro color los objetos a golpear si no obvio que te vas a confundir cuando intentes memorizar... Y pues los personajes del juego lucen bastante genericos e olvidables ademas que quiza sea yo pero no me incentiva mucho a leer los comentarios de los npcs :v pero bueno pese a todo es bastante disfrutable y explorar por el mundo esta genial y divertido :3

It is hard to recommend this game. But if you want a 2D zelda-like you might still enjoy it.

On the bright side, you get a bunch of cool tools to play with : aside from bow boomerang and bombs you get medallions that summon earthquakes, thunder, or just a swarm of homing bees (this one's great), and some other things. The story is basic but told in a charming way. The musics are alright, sometimes good. The visuals are nice as well. The first biome and first dungeon have nice design and atmosphere, and a cast of interesting enemies. The puzzles are classic but there's enough variety in the dungeon rooms that its length isn't much of a problem.
And then it stops.
After the first dungeon, the game just starts to turn into an enemy spam slog. Each room, be it overworld or dungeons, starts being crowded by 15+ mobs (fun fact, they all respawn each time you leave the room) and few points of interest. The diversity in enemies and puzzles plummets, the item you get in dungeons 2 and 3 feels much less interesting in the level design and combat design than the first one. In the last dungeon there were 3 different mobs of a same family and I honestly can't really tell what difference they had in gameplay. Even some of the puzzles stopped being well-thought and were just based on a geometric pattern, itreally felt to me the devs wanted to get the game out and nothing else.
I didn't like the character controller very much, the sword's hitbox often feels more situational than it should and my character often ignores my prompts to turn around to hit something else. There's a map that isn't super useful, considering each square area of the map is about 4 times your game camera, and each has several exits, so you often spend much longer exploring than you would need to because you try out each exit of a room and find out they lead back to the same previous one. I was also a bit frustrated by the lack of uses for money late game and the rare use for potions, which you get by the dozen, because the game has a lot of chests to find but it doesn't have anything to give beside money and potions.

Basically, my first 3 hours of gameplay were very enjoyable despite a few flaws, and the 7 remaining ones drained me slowly of the hope the game was going to get back on its feet. If you don't mind fighting lots of mobs or just constantly ignoring them as you go through rooms you should have a better time than me.

I understand that I'm probably not the target audience which I believe would be up to about 12 years old.

There's really nothing wrong with the game, but to be fair there's nothing really good either. The story is alright, the graphics are ok, the sound is decent. But in the end nothing stands out. The puzzles aren't even puzzles (I don't think I needed more than one try for any of them). The whole game is basically just walking around to different spots that pose no challenge or change of pace of any sort.

For the most part I couldn't even be arsed to dodge the lava or the snowballs and just tanked them and the same goes for all the fights (including bosses). So if you're looking for a challenge, some new take on anything; this is not where you'll find it.

If you are a child, or if you have a kid, and they think The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is fun but too difficult - this might be the solution to ease them in. Otherwise I see no reason to buying this,.

Fun little adventure game. Light on story, but cute enough. All and all a pretty chill journey, though some of the puzzles are not logical. There is also a shop keeper that keeps actual business hours that is never explained in the game. Could miss them completely if you are a normal working adult.
Those little things aside, do recommend if you like Zelda games.

Но ощущение вторичности вполне естественно может возникнуть даже без свежих воспоминаний о Зельде: Blossom Tales не просто вдохновлён Зельдой, а чистый клон, старающийся подражать оригиналу практически во всём. Подражает с переменным успехом: если к визуалу и способностям персонажа вопросов нет, то ко всему остальному они возникают. В целом головоломки и испытания неплохи, но некоторые либо вызывают недоумение неожиданно сложным вызовом к памяти или ловкости игрока, либо изредка вопрос, а что вообще у разработчика в голове. Побочные квесты часто представляют собой гринд ресурсов с монстров. Звуковое сопровождение нередко вызывает некоторое раздражение. Прогрессия выстроена таким образом, что сложность боёв с чего-то на уровне Зельды в начале скатывается до практически бессмертия к середине игры, а то и раньше, из-за обилия зелий и цветков воскрешения (умереть можно, но сложно), хотя конечно это можно счесть и за плюс в зависимости от предпочтений. Идея представить повествование как рассказ деда своим внукам вызывает некоторое умиление, выражающееся в виде изредка появляющейся лёгкой улыбки, особенно когда дети вмешиваются в происходящее, но не более того — ни одной нормальной шутки, ни одного запоминающегося персонажа, ни одной интересной мысли в сюжете и диалогах.
Вообще, игра ни в чём не предлагает чего-то оригинального, чего-то своего. Но, надо отдать должное, копия вышла по большей части недурной. Если хочется, например, перепройти A Link To The Past, но в другой обёртке, Blossom Tales вполне может порадовать в течение 7-10 часов (15+ часов прохождения, как указано в описании, может набраться разве что если пытаться выполнить достижения на сбор всех предметов в игре). Во всех остальных случаях — проходите мимо.

I enjoyed this game! I was looking for a Zelda-like that was reminiscent of the top-down Zelda games and ran across this game after some searching. The premise of a grandpa telling a story to his grand kids was an entertaining premise. The little re-caps every time you would start up the game again were really fun.

This game was not intensely challenging, but overall I had a lot of fun. I'm excited to play the sequel!

Heard about this game as a something zelda-like on steam. While it's a high bar to compare to, this did pretty well and was a lot of fun. Definitely has the same feel and mechanics and the music was great. It did feel a little too easy and a lot of the items you collect, you won't really need or use, so it would have been nice to try and have you change up your play-style for a little variety. Overall, if you've already played Zelda and are looking for what's next, I would recommend it.

Pros: a charming visual style, decent enough item progression, and a cute premise.

Cons: a useless overworld-map screen (seriously, why), sluggish walkspeed with no option to run or dash, an uneven and below-average OST, and long linear dungeons that can be completed pretty mindlessly.

It's just good enough to keep going. And just bad enough that you'd never recommend it to anyone else.

Basically, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is like a double shot of espresso made by an aficionado using a $1000 espresso machine. Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King is like a styrofoam cup of Folgers. If you like coffee, and someone put a styrofoam cup of Folgers in front of you, you might drink it.

This game is an homage to [b][Link to the Past][/b] (1991 SNES). The artwork, the music, the combat -- EVERYTHING -- is polished in such a way as to invoke LttP nostalgia.

This game is much harder than LttP though with harder precision movement puzzles that will leave your thumbs sore. The thumb pain is part of the nostalgia too, ha!

Very well made game. I got most enjoyment out of puzzle solving. I guess you could say the battle-part is on the easier side since there is an abundance of healing items. I guess having a hard difficulty and some bonus content for that would be a really good add.
Still, it is a very enjoyable game and if old schools Zeldas are your thing, you shouldn´t skip this one.

This is more of a thumbs sideways, cause I'm really not too hot on this game, but I also don't think it's bad. Mainly, I think this game just cribs too much from Zelda without innovating on it enough or adding significant enough convenience features. Case-in-point: you still have to deal with the same inventory juggling from A Link to the Past where you have to constantly switch items into your action button slot to use them, and it sucks less only because your inventory is smaller. Also, a big thing with action adventure games like this: No map pins. You've got to remember where everything is yourself, or manually map it which sucks. It's one of the #1 things that keeps me from getting into 2D Zelda, and it's less bad here, again only because there's less to find and navigation is more straightforward. I mean, don't get me wrong, if you're into Zelda you'll probably like this at least a little. I've just played games far more interesting and innovative in the top down action adventure genre. Play UNSIGHTED, CrossCode, Anodyne 1 & 2, Prodigal, even Hyper Light Drifter before you play this. I'm probably still going to check out the sequel, but only when it goes on sale.

Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King is a wonderful game that offers quite a bit for its short playtime. It is definitely a love letter to older Zelda games like Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and the Oracle Series. The music is great, the graphics are imaginative (I particularly like the clouds and the torches), and the story is endearing. My only gripe is the lack of a more easily accessible fast travel option or a way to quickly exit dungeons. Because the game saves every time the screen changes, if you reset the game from the main menu then you start on the same screen you ended the game on. This is great if you are trying to complete the main quest, but it isn't so great if you are hunting for missed collectibles and just want to get out of a dungeon quickly.

However, I don't think this should dissuade anyone from getting this game. Far from it. It is a charming addition to any library. :)

几年过去了，还是不支持中文，有些游戏哪怕机翻都要加中文，有些游戏虽然一开始没中文，但是后续也会听取玩家意见更新中文版，你这连西班牙语都支持，很难不让我联想到某些游戏厂商支持7、8种语言就是不支持中文。
刚刚看了下新作《Cattle Country》2025年的新作也不支持中文……好好好真就完全不在意中国市场是吧？怎么不锁国区呢？省的中国玩家热脸贴冷屁股，连“游戏没中文但是单词不难，可以学习英语”这种自我安慰的评测都有人发。早知道我就玩盗版去了，还能省几顿饭钱。

Okay, I know I'm overly hyped as I'm reviewing this but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ after the 3rd "dungeon" the game just feels soo HYPE! I rarely have a genuine smile and feeling of happiness and this right here is making me feeling it.

I was hoping the fireball spell would make the same sound as the other spells seen throughout the game (except leaf mage?). It does, it serves the purpose of a bow AND bomb since it destroys things the bomb does and the damage and blast radius? AMAZING! I'm not sure if it cost less than the bomb/bow with a shorter energy recovery delay but paired with the [spoiler]sword projectile[/spoiler], I just feel like a badass Spellblade with the music of the area I'm at. It feels soo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NICE bro! Just listen to this and imagine you're playing a retro game and it has everything you hoped to be in it and you get it all. The game seems to take about 10-15h to 100%.

The game's good, the puzzles are decent (except the musical stones where having ADHD is starting to be an issue when remembering a sequence over 6, where at least 2 are of 8 and missing 1 reset your progress).

So, originally I was going to 100% Blossom Tales I before I got to the end of the game. However, after doing some thinking, I decided to just not worry about getting 100% before completing this game. I’ll explain why later, but for now, let’s get started. These are loving opinions Blossom Tales I.

Presentation

Sorry if this review comes across too much gushing, but I just want to take a moment to appreciate how amazing the presentation is for this game. The entire game is pixelated and reminds me of what you might see in Zelda: Link to the Past. Although, this shouldn’t be too surprising since this game is inspired by Zelda. Aside from the pixel art, the environments that you see throughout the game are blooming with personality. Usually, I’m not a fan of open-world-style games, but for Blossom Tales, I really like how the dev(s) went all out with the overworld. It gives the player a sense of immersion. Last but not least, the music. I have no idea who the composer was, but I just want to take a moment to appreciate how hard they went on the soundtrack. Sorry for keeping this segment short, but I just wanted to give my thoughts on the presentation as fast as possible.

Gameplay

So, it’s pretty obvious that this game is inspired by the Zelda series, specifically the 2D top-down Zelda titles like Zelda I or Link to the Past. The reason I mentioned Link to the Past is because in addition to your standard three-hit sword slashes, you also get access to the spin attack when you hold down the attack/action button. Yep, it seems Lily took some notes out of Link’s notebook. Now I will admit, the combat is basic, but I don’t think that’s a big issue. However, when I got to the later levels, there were spiders that were relentless and wanted to eat Lily alive. Even if you try to block them with your shield, they will eat through your energy meter. Also, screw those spiders! Speaking of your energy meter, I suppose it’s time to get this out of the way. Another thing Blossom Tales borrows from the Zelda series, is the heart system. However, one aspect that separates BT from Zelda is how its energy meter works. Technically you don’t use magic until you get the magic medallions, but most of the actions you do like guarding with your shield, throwing bombs, shooting arrows, etc. use up a certain amount of your energy meter. To be honest, the special moves you perform as you play feel like they are stamina-based. Honestly, I didn’t find any problem with this as I liked this game’s change of pace. It kind of reminds me of Triforce Heroes on the 3DS. Also, before I forget, there are items that will refill your hearts, energy, and even revive you upon death. To be honest, I don’t think I ever used a resurrected flower as I was finding heart pieces and consuming the heart vials. Either way, I’m glad they are here in case a newcomer is having trouble.

Aside from the main story, you will also come across some side quests as you explore the world, doing these side-quests will also grant you heart and energy pieces, upgrades for your special weapons, and even new items. Now I did mention I did not bother 100%-ing this game. I failed to mention this in my previous reviews but I’m saying it now. I am NOT a completionist nor do I intend to be. The only times I would ever 100% a game is if I am playing games that I love the most like SM64, Kazooie, Battle for Bikini Bottom, Hat in Time, and Cuphead for example. However, for those who are completionists, I got some pretty funny news. I was looking through the Steam Discussion Boards for “Everybody knows Stan” mail side quest and the developer told the forums that the time Stan appears is based on your device’s time (between 9 AM – 5 PM I believe). I know I shouldn’t be snickering but let’s just say that the forum users were pretty pissed. I’ll admit, I did find this a bit cumbersome as well. Personally, if I were to make a game, I would never implement this stupid feature. I mean, people have lives and don’t have the time to play games in that time range. However, I was not upset by this, and I decided to just roll with it.

Before I end this segment, I want to talk about the boss fights. Personally, I found these boss fights to be fine. They’re not bad, just a bit on the easy side if you are abusing bombs like a maniac. I’m not going to spoil the end game but once you get to the near end of the last dungeon, you’ll see how hard the game’s difficulty gets. Not obnoxious though, just gradually. Also, for those memorization puzzles, PLEASE record the sequences on your phone because those can be hard to remember as they go for long periods in one of the caves.

Gameplay: 9/10

Performance

Throughout the majority of my playthrough, the frame rate stayed consistent and smooth. Now granted, I was playing on the Steam Deck, and it is “Verified.” However, if you have been keeping up with any of my previous reviews, the Steam Deck verification is not always to be trusted. However, for this game, I was a happy camper. Even when transitioning between sections, there are little to no loading times. That to me feels amazing.

Performance: 10/10

Story

Last but not least, let’s talk about the story. Personally, I found the story of Blossom Tales to not only be interesting, but entertaining. It had fun ideas and was even told as a bedtime story that you would tell your kids every night. By the way, there was one instance I found where you are given the option to choose what enemies you encounter in the story. as you are in the dark areas near the swamp. Overall, the story to me was excellent and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Sorry for keeping the segment short as well, but I just wanted to give my thoughts on story as little as possible so as to not spoil it for you guys.

Final Verdict

In case you couldn’t tell by the constant praise in this review, I absolutely LOVE Blossom Tales I. I did buy the second game before this one, but I decided to finish this one first so that I can give these two games proper release reviews. Sure, it’s not perfect, but I’d say it’s still a great game, and I am interested to revisit it and have more playthroughs. But for now, I am going to be taking a break from Blossom Tales for now. Got this game for $3.74. It's pretty decent for that price point. I wouldn't recommend at full price. Zelda clone with plenty to explore. Controls aren't as crisp but the easy difficulty keeps it from being frustrating. I only died once but had a rez flower and it just restored me.
