a charming little game. i got through it in about 40 minutes during my first playthrough - the puzzles are decently simple once the mechanics have been explained, although i did find myself flailing a bit during a few sequences (i'd forgotten something we'd done early on in the game, and once i figured it out i felt a little silly haha).

i loved the art direction - it's a little reminiscent of stopmotion, the way the characters are built, and the environments are gorgeous. i especially loved [spoiler]the glitchy masked memories of our friends and family[/spoiler] - gave me shivers down my spine every time.

the story made me cry, which is not difficult to do, per se, as i am a Known Crier, but i think it could make just about anyone cry, really. a touching story about love, and loss, and the processing thereof. if only processing in real life were so simple.

10/10, would recommend.

Blackwood Crossing is a very nice narrative-driven game about two siblings. You play as the older sister Scarlett and navigate through different environments to keep an eye on your younger brother Finn.

The gameplay includes finding hidden items, problem solving, matching dialog between characters, and more.

I appreciated Blackwood Crossing for its surreal settings and its interesting plot. I LOVED seeing all the different masks and other creative touches in the environments (nearly everything has a story).

The game offers a bittersweet experience and I think that if you like games like What Remains of Edith Finch you will really enjoy Blackwood Crossing.

Overall I would recommend this game. Give it a try! Find some bunnies and posters.

This was a beautiful game that I completed in just under 3 hours, and that was taking my time to go slow and examine every proverbial nook and cranny. The narrative is fairly straightforward, which I appreciate because too often I find in narrative games there can be too great of a gap between story points to allow for the "actual" game play, but at no point was I asking myself, "wait, I can't remember what happened earlier, how does this part of the story tie in to what I saw before?"

The juxtaposition of the different dialogue choices, the achievements, and the shorter length of the game give it decent replay value, but I would replay this again just for the story alone. If you're a fan of narrative games and art that hurts, I cannot recommend Blackwood Crossing highly enough.

I enjoyed it, but veterans of this genre may find it lacking. The game is visually attractive and the voice acting is very good (and it's refreshing to hear a British cast.) The mechanics are a bit clunky, though, and the whole experience is rather short.

Another factor that killed it a bit is that Finn is such a little beast. This is understandable; the game is a tragic portrayal of the very difficult circumstances some children find themselves in, and the consequences. However, since all the objectives consist of trying to please Finn, the effort feels unrewarding when he's so ungrateful. Perhaps the plot should have focused more on the mystery aspects rather than playing Finn Says for 2 hours.

The ending is also obvious from the very beginning. The only mystery was trying to work out whether it was one or both of them!

[b]One of those cases when I'd give a neutral review if I had the option, but unfortunately it falls shorts in way too many aspects for the experience to be more on the "recommended" side.[/b]

Pros:
- There's something really unique, mysterious and intriguing about the story in this game that makes you wanna keep going and figure out what is going on.
- Very mesmerizing bizarre, surreal, and oneiric atmosphere.

Neutrals:
- Puzzles vary a little bit. Some are ok, some are too easy, others are a bit too unintuitive (ie 'moon logic'). Sometimes they feel rewarding, sometimes they feel boring, and sometimes they make you go 'ugh...'.

Cons:
- The game is way too short. My playtime (3.6 h) includes 2 playthroughs (I played the 2nd time to help me understand a few parts after going through it all, and also to hunt the the achievements I had missed while playing freely). I'll return to this point during the other cons, because it has a few implications.
- The main characters walks WAY TOO SLOWLY, even for a walking simulator standard. It's so sluggish that [u]it feels like you're a geisha doing the oiran walk underwater while carrying a 200-pound boulder[/u]. This feels like it was a deliberate choice in order to make this short game seem longer than it actually is more than anything else. And note that you don't have too much stuff to contemplate like in most walking simulators, so it's not a relaxing experience.
- Looking around, interacting with stuff and dialogues also feel VERY slow. Also you have to wait for the dialogue to completely end (plus what it feels like 5 idle seconds) before you can interact with objects again. This too feels like it was deliberate in order to make the game feel longer than it actually is. But the main problem is that the controlling experience is just awful.
- The narrative approach is so surreal that it ends up being too nonsensical and you don't get too many straight answers. On my second playthrough, a few things made more sense, but at the same time a lot of them just felt like they were randomly put in order to trigger the player's curiosity, but it kinda feels like cheating into reaching that goal.
- The game is so short that you have little time to connect and relate to the characters, which are obviously underdeveloped for the length of the game. The story has a lot of potential to be impactful and evoke emotions, but that job becomes nearly impossible if you have no time to fall in love with the characters.

While this is not a total miss and could provide fun in some level, I'd say there are better titles out there that do a lot better in areas where his game fails to shine. To name a few from the top of my head: What Remais of Edith Finch, Papo y Yo, Rakuen, Call of the Sea, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter...

Es ist kein Edith Finch oder Firewatch, aber ein durchgehend solides trauriges Adventure welches teilweise durch unnötige Gameplay-elemente gezogen wird - das emotionale Pacing könnte enorm stark sein, wenn es sich einfach auf das Storytelling fokussiert hätte, die kleinen "Puzzles" die das Spiel hat wirken eher negativ auf die Gesamterfahrung.

Vollkommen in Ordnung, das Writing der beiden Hauptcharaktere ist definitiv die Stärke des Games und es schafft es beeindruckend stark den Bruder EXAKT zwischen super nervig und menschlich nachvollziehbar einzureihen

J’aimerais avoir apprécié ce jeu mais je ne le recommanderais pas ; en tout cas pas hors soldes pour ceux qui si intéresser.
Oui les graphique son bien blablabla, mais on ne le dira jamais assez le plus important reste la jouabilité et l’histoire.
Je m’explique :
-La maniabilité du personnage est comme celle d’un camion. Elle n’est pas impossible, il faut un temps d’adaptation
-Je rebondis sur le deuxième point décevant est que le jeu prend entre 1h30 et 2h (et c’est encore large comme estimation). Et avec cette maniabilité deviens frustrant durant la moitie de ceux temps.
- Même si l’histoire est intéressante, elle n’est pas originale. Les thèmes abordés ont déjà été vue ailleurs, parfois même mieux. Je n’ai pas pue m’empercher de comparer ce jeu à Draugen tout du long.
Les deux jeux abordent les mêmes thèmes dans leur histoire, mais pour moi Draugen à mieux su faire fonctionner l’intégration de l’histoire dans son univers que Blackwood Crossing.

J’ai dû m’endormir à un moment clés de l’histoire parce que j’ai trouvé l’histoire confuse j’avais plus de question à la fin qu'au début, des choses toutes bêtes qui auraient pu être résolue avec une phrase de dialogue.

Je suis contente d’avoir fini ce jeu et de me dire que je n’y jouerais plus jamais.

I run the walking simulator fan group (check my profile for more titles) so i think my review is based on a solid 60+ other similar title reviews.

Bottom line, Is it the best walking sim out there? No. Is it a mixed bag ? Yes. While not as innovative as "Before your Eyes" , it completes it nicely if you prefer the traditional 'Walking sims' with a TINY hint of puzzling.

Two major issues:
1 - the story however is telegraphed from the very beginning, so I don't see how there could be spoilers , and that's going to hurt the rating a bit , for sure.
2- the mechanics are clunky at best
3 - there' a lot of walking back and forth

Production values are good and i had a steady 60fps for most of the game on a 2080 at 1080p, however the begginning of the game can be a bit choppy. Audio/voice over is great but make sure you lower 'music and bg sound' before raising the overall volume as things can get a bit lost in the noise.

Overall this is a 5/10 considering what is the market at a similar price. But on a sale, it's a no brainer for the fans of the genre.

Oyunun hikayesini fena bulmasam da oynanış açısından oldukça kötü buldum.
Özellikle oyunun başında oyuncuya bazı eşyaları toplayabilmesine izin vermesi ve daha sonrasında farklı cevaplar verebilme imkanının olması oyuncuya "Agency" sahibi olduğu izlenimini veriyor fakat durum bu değil. Oyunda yaptığınız şeyler bir bulmacanın parçalarını çözmekten öteye gidemiyor (sadece bazı şeyleri yapmazsanız başarım alamıyorsunuz). Dolayısı ile oyunun sonucu hiçbir şekilde değişmiyor, hayal kırıklığına uğradığımı söylemek isterim. Güncel fiyatı 25 lira olduğu için şu cümleyi kurabilirim: "25 liraya interaktif film izlemek istiyorsanız bu oyunu alabilirsiniz."

Tried to play through it but was bored after a whole while. I couldn't really connect with Scarlett and Finn, the conversations felt off and strange, too. The story somehow didn't appeal to me. Everything happened so fast and I found the huge heads quite ugly (even if they weren't wearing masks).

Blackwood Crossing erzählt von Trauer, Verlust, von Liebe und Vertrauen. Die perfekte Mischung für Herzschmerz. Spielerisch kann man das Spiel wohl als Walking Simulator beschreiben, der garniert ist durch einige simple Rätsel. Es fällt auf, dass der Fokus ganz klar auf dem Erzählen der Geschichte der beiden Geschwister und ihrer Familie liegt - und das gelingt!

Wer sich also auf eine emotionale Geschichte einlassen will, die einem auch die ein oder andere Träne entlocken wird, der wird bei Blackwood Crossing fündig. Einziges Manko: Mit einer Spielzeit von knapp drei Stunden ist das Vergnügen relativ kurz, was dem Storytelling aber keinen Abbruch tut.

Wessen Empathiefähigkeit aber tiefer als der eines Wassertropfen ist wird hier mit einem kurzweiligen. dennoch sehr angenehmen Erlebnis belohnt an dessem Ende man trotzdem je nach besagter Empathie gerne mal ein paar dicke Tränen verliert.
Ja die Steuerung ist mehhh aber außer vorwärts und rückwärts braucht's nicht wirklich mehr. Die Geschichte wird quasi wie in einem Walking Sim erzählt und offenbart im Laufe immer wieder Überraschungen so das man eigentlich nie das Gefühl hat an der Hand genommen zu sein.
Und das Titellied 'The Crossing' von Ben Otetwell ist mal so gut das ich mir das auch noch gekauft habe, Gibt es aber leider nicht hier, einfach nach suchen... gibt nicht viele Quellen.
Also, du hast nicht die Empathie eines Schlagschraubers, kannst auch mal Tränen verkraften und magst Geschichten die dich berühren? Dann greif zu.

Was für ein Müllgame. Die Steuerung ist dermaßen schwammig und unpräzise, dass einem im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes das Kotzen kommt. Zusätzlich bekommt man von dem Mega-Kopfgewackel der dämlichen Protagonistin und dem niedrigen FOV in kürzester Zeit massive Kopfschmerzen. Die Story ist total bescheuert und kitschig, und die meiste Zeit hat man nicht die leiseste Ahnung, was man eigentlich machen soll, da überhaupt nichts erklärt wird. Die Protagonistin bewegt sich zudem dermaßen lahmarschig und im Schneckentempo, dass sich das Ganze zu einer Geduldsprobe übelster Art ausweitet, da man Story-bedingt ständig hin- und herlaufen muss. Darüber hinaus geht einem dieser hyperaktive, dämliche Bengel gehörig auf den Sack. Obendrauf gibt es noch die beschissene Unity-Engine mit ständigem Geruckel gratis. Fazit: Dreck.

Angenehme Mischung aus etwas gruselig und gut erzählten Charakteren. Oft genug rätselhaft, aber auch nicht zu abgedreht, mit der Zeit habe ich die Figuren und ihre Rollen eigentlich verstanden. Die Atmosphäre liegt zwischen dem manchmal noch düsteren The Vanishing of Ethan Carter und Everybody has gone to the rapture, nur mit mehr Gequassel von dem Jungen (nervt aber nicht).

Die Grafik ist okay, für den Anspruch des Spiels, die Sprecher und Sprecherinnen auf jeden Fall auf hohem Niveau und die Länge mit zwei Stunden völlig ausreichend, mehr hätte die Geschichte nicht hergegeben. Manchmal nervt die langsame Bewegung der Hauptfigur etwas, hier und da fühlt die sich etwas hölzern an, es geht aber.

I don`t like to give ambitious indie developers negative reviews, so I'm not going to.
But truth be told, this game was a bit of a mixed bag for me.
While visually beautiful and with a great soundtrack and good voice acting, the game was hampered by some questionable game design choices.
Like the absurdly slow walking speed, which I`m usually alright with in walking sims, but the amount of backtracking in this game really made me wish there was a sprint-button.
Or items that you can only pick up once you`ve triggered the required "Pick up that item to solve the next puzzle"-dialogue-option, although it`s perfectly clear it`s the item you need to solve the next puzzle.
Or when the game wants you to find and collect that one specific item to solve a riddle, although there are loads of other viable alternatives lying around everywhere. (Minor puzzle spoiler, if you`re curious: [spoiler] I'm talking about a puzzle that requires you to find a specific newspaper roll to use as a torch, in a relatively large area littered with stuff just as flammable. And to top things off, the game wants you to light your torch on a pile of trash that`s already on fire - and could have served as torch just as well.[/spoiler])

There`s an intersting and melodramatic story at the heart of this game (which I´m not going to spoil, for obvious reasons).
But the fragmented presentation and the many fantastical styilistic elements, made it difficult for me to connect with the characters emotionally.

If you`re into walking simulators, that walk a bit on the experimental side of storytelling (pun very much intended) and you`re looking for a mellow game with a bit of a darker twist, this might be your game.

Blackwood Crossing is a story-rich puzzle game. It has awesome soundtracks, at least I liked them. The story and the way this game tells it is heart-wrenching yet simple. There are no hidden signals to what might have been. The story is told slowly but simply. Warning though, you might need some napkins as you reach the 100 minute mark, as the ending of the game is the most emotional part of the game. I think it's totally worth it's price even without any discount. I'm not an emotion-driven person, or one that really values most of it, but this game brought tears even to my eyes. Well done developers, well done! Might be the shortest game that I see a 10/10 worth giving to.

Blackwood Crossing is a first-person adventure game, heavily story-driven but really, really short. In about 2 hours you'll finish this game which has some very bad controls. The interaction mechanic is cluncky implemented and raises your frustration levels. The story however, is very emotional and really gets you in the end. All in all a fine in-between game if you can pick it up with a (huge) discount like me, 16 bucks isn't just right for this game.

Among the walking sim genre (we gotta get a better name for that), its visually distinct from the pack. I think its art style adds a nice layer to its storybook premise. Its a little too blunt though, saying things that I think should be whispered instead of shouted. It feels a little inspired by Rule of Rose, but it lacks the ambiguity that really worked for that game.

At the same time, maybe I shouldn't have played it at 1 to 3 am right after finishing Kentucky Route Zero, a game I'm still riding the high of. That could be on me and its not the game's fault I'm stuck in that zone. Also its only choice (stopping the fire vs making it burn brighter) carries that same sort of "well, what choice means more to you?" KR0 spirit I like. Is it better to hold onto those precious memories or just let them go? Its a really interesting choice to give players and its really the only sense you get that the devs wanted their audience to freely interpret the game as they wish.

All in all though, I think Scarlett made a good pick in dating Cam. That dude seems just like a straight up chill, reliable boyfriend. Better give that guy a ring now that you're out of that purgatory, girl. Game is fun, worth the two hours

그냥 보면 스토리가 잘 이해가 안되는데, 결말에서 진실이 드러난다. 스토리 스포일러는 아래에
[spoiler] 게임에서 스칼렛과 핀은 계속 같이 다니긴 했지만, 사실 핀은 예전에 죽었다. 가면을 쓰고 나오는 스칼렛의 가족과 주변인물도 아마 죽은 것으로 추정된다. 이 게임은 스칼렛이 혼자 기차를 타고가다 꾼 꿈(혹은 꿈 속에서 사후세계에 간) 이야기인데, 핀과 함께했던 추억을 되짚으며 그를 놓아 주기까지의 과정이다. 스칼렛은 그동안 모르고 있었지만 핀이 겪었던 일들도 알게 되고, 핀과 싸웠던 기억에 미안해하기도 하는데, 토끼 소년과 부모님의 도움으로 핀을 보내줄 수 있었다. 누나로서 핀을 돌봐주었어야 했는데 그가 괴롭힘당하는 것도 모르고 있었고, 자기는 캠이랑 연애하느라 놀아주지도 못했다는 죄책감에서 해방된 것이다. 결국 이 게임은 스칼렛이 핀에게 용서받고 정신적으로 성숙해지는 과정이다.[/spoiler]

게임은 그냥 퍼즐 게임이다. 상호작용이 가능한 대상에 가서 적절한 도구를 들고 적절한 버튼을 누르면 된다. 이 게임만의 특이한 시스템이라면 가면을 쓴 사람들의 대화를 연결하는 것이 있다. 특정 지점에서 가면을 쓴 사람 여럿(주로 8명)이 등장해 가만히 있는데, 이들을 클릭하면 한 마디씩 말을 하고, 그 말을 토대로 서로 대화하는 두 사람을 찾아 순서대로 상호작용하면 된다. 이렇게 모두를 둘씩 짝지으면 다음으로 진행할 수 있다. 이 대화가 스토리에 직접적으로 연관되어 있어 플레이어가 더 몰입하도록 한다. 다만 처음 이 퍼즐이 나올 때 아무 힌트가 없다는 점이 문제다. 이정도는 튜토리얼 차원에서 알려줘야 하는거 아니냐? 이것 말고도 튜토리얼이 전반적으로 부족해 퍼즐 파트에세 헤메기 쉽다. (그래도 2시간컷 가능)

그것 말고도 조작 키가 불편하고 (상호작용은 q,e,좌클릭,우클릭 4개에 소지품은 화살표 왼쪽,오른쪽,아래 키 사용) 최적화 문제인지 게임이 좀 느리긴 한데 그것 말고는 무난한 퍼즐게임이다. 굳이 아쉬운점을 꼽자면 스토리가 핵심인데 속 시원하게 설명을 안해서 안풀린 떡밥이 너무 많다는 점. [spoiler]그래서 토끼가면은 누구고 스칼렛은 왜 가면이 생겼는데[/spoiler]

또 다른 특이한 점이라면 스칼렛이 갑자기 불을 흡수한 다음 손에서 불을 뿜고, 무생물에 생명을 부여하는 등 요술을 부리는데, 어차피 현실이 아니라 그런다지만 좀 깬다....

Blackwood Crossing is short, doesnt overstay its welcome and has a somewhat deep story. However, it is a walking Sim, keep that in mind, before you expect riviting gameplay.

Its a roughly 1,5 - 2 hour feeltrip, 2,5 hours if you care about getting all achievements. So be warned, if youre easily triggered by sensitive topics like death and depression, this isnt the game for you.
I wont get into the story and spoil the main feature of the game for you. I can however say that the plot isn't too complex, but it's very neatly presented and doesn't feel annoying or superficial, like in most cases in this genre.

Because this game is this short and doesnt really offer much, I have to advise you to wait for a sale. Probably worth 5 bucks, if youre into games like this, but charging 16€, or probably $18 is just completely overpriced.

The teenage girl Scarlett tries to make sense of her younger brother Finn's intense emotional needs. The children were orphaned while Finn was still very small. These bewildering feelings are exacerbated by Scarlett's drift into adulthood. She loves her playful, imaginative, sweet-natured sibling. But her life is offering more than just playing with her little brother

The game tells a mystery story, it takes place in an Alice in Wonderland dream-like world, in which magic exists alongside evil, where ghosts speak, family members wear masks & toys come alive. These things capture the innocence of Finn, but you're about to find out that something awful happened in this family.

[h1]What's so bad about it?[/h1]
a. It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slow
I really can't wrap my mind around the fact that this game has gone through multiple testing phases. The developers must've known that the game is an absolute mess to [i]playl[/i]. It's ike you're constantly dragging your feet through a thick puddle of slime. In other words: you're awfully slow and your character can't run. Gloopy, clumsy and plain bad controls. When you're walking through a long corridor, the game feels unnecessarily drawn out. It could be a bad port, but that really ruined this game for me.

b. Failed emotional connection
The game tries to use metaphors to convey a heartfelt message. It tries to, but it comes a mile short. At no point did I feel engaged with the characters. I didn't feel touched by the story because it's brought in such a weird way. Don't get me wrong, sometimes 'weird' works. But not here. The writing and the voice acting are so unnatural it takes you out of the game, only to put your focus on the messed up controls.

c. Weird gameplay mechanics
The game consists of walking, solving puzzles & interacting with various objects like darkness/fire. Most of the time, it's really unclear what's expected of you. Especially if you come across your first 'puzzle', that consists of putting dialogue between several characters in the correct order. There's no pop-up, no explanation, nothing. You just have to figure it out. Normally I like that type of approach, but it felt lacking in this title. Additionally, I had difficulty interacting with objects because I always had to position the reticle in an exact spot for a prompt to appear.

Меня не зацепило: приятная анимация и задуманная трогательной история не перевесили минусы.

Во-первых, угловатость управления. Вероятно, с геймпадом дела обстояли бы лучше, но он вряд ли ускоряет движение главной героини и избавляет игроков от неестественных невидимых стен на пути, так что проблема явно не только в клавиатуре и мышке.

Во-вторых, неинтуитивный символизм. Уверен, что при желании многие элементы игры можно интерпретировать очень по-разному, но дело именно в том, что над этим приходится думать, то есть сразу они не ощущаются. В итоге у меня не получилось проникнуться историей.

В-третьих, упущенные возможности. Есть приёмы, которые показались мне интересными, но они не получили должного развития. [spoiler]Смесь нескольких пространств в одном месте: движущийся поезд, в котором есть кусочек сада с неподвижным пейзажем за окном, а также растущее из вагона дерево. Детское воспроизведение деталей мира: созданные Финном бумажные фрагменты, которые без его пояснений не распознать, потому что он просто не разбирается и не умеет рисовать. Да хотя бы умение оживлять предметы![/spoiler] Всё это могло бы позволить игроку посмотреть на мир через призму восприятия героев, но увы и ах.

Извини, Blackwood Crossing, наверняка, для тебя найдутся свои ценители, но я не стал одним из них.

Very nice emotional and introspective story delivered with frustratingly clunky controls and a constant feeling like either you're stupid and missing what you should be doing, or that something simply didn't trigger properly.

The mechanics kill the experience, in my opinion. There's already a weird interaction mechanic where it's sometimes hard to find what you should interact with, but on top of that, it feels like the character you're controlling is drunk, with this weird "momentum" on the movement controls.

Blackwood Crossing ist eine traurtigschöne Geschichte voller Atmosphäre die man sich nicht entgehen lassen sollte. Neben der Geschichte und der Reise durch faszinierende Traum/Fantasiewelten hat mich auch die Grafik welche man in der Qualität bei sich so manchem Gamegiganten wünschen würde begeistert. Was auch noch gesagt werden muss ist, dass einen das wohl coolste Baumhaus das man sich vorstellen kann auf dieser Reise erwartet. Spiele wie dieses sind wie ich finde besonders Wertvoll da sie einen ganz egal wie kurz oder lange die Spielzeit sein mag nachhaltig bereichern da man in den Gedanken noch lange über das Spielen hinaus darin verweilt und seine eigene Fantasiewelt damit nährt.

In Blackwood Crossing wacht man als junge Erwachsene Scarlett in einem Zugabteil auf und muss seinen Bruder Finn suchen. Das klappt zunächst problemlos aber unmittelbar darauf spielen sich im Zug schräge und schrägste Dinge ab und man befindet sich auf einer geradezu wahnsinnigen Reise im Stile von Alice im Wunderland.

Und ja, das Ganze mutet teilweise grotesk und schräg an. Trotzdem setzen sich dadurch die Puzzleteile langsam zusammen und ergibt das Ganze an Ende nach rund 2,5 Stunden durchaus seinen Sinn. Dabei spielt sich das Ganze wie ein seichtes Adventure oder einen etwas interaktiveren Walking Simulator in kleinen Arealen. Spielerisch also ist das Ganze bis auf das eine oder andere Rätsel keine grosse Herausforderung.

Leider ist Blackwood Crossing technisch keine Meisterleistung. Das Spiel ist sehr mühsam zu steuern, das Ganze ist ziemlich ruckelig und insgesamt wirkt es von dieser Seite her einfach nicht rund. Und im Normalfall wäre das schon ein ziemlich dicker Minuspunkt. Doch es gibt etwas, dass das alles vollkommen aufwiegt: Die Story.

Ja, diese wirkt tatsächlich zunächst grotesk und unklar. Aber je mehr sich das Ganze zusammensetzt, desto inhatlsvoller wird die Geschichte und desto berührender. Es gibt nicht viele Spiele, die es wirklich schaffen, mein Herz zu berühren. Blackwood Crossing hat es geschafft und zwar auf eine meisterhafte Art und Weise. Was für eine wertvolle und gefühlvolle Story!

Und diese wird wunderbar unterstützt durch die tollen Sprecher. Und auch die Grafik ist zwar insgesamt zweckmässig aber doch auch meist sehr passend.

Fazit: Wer berührende Storys mag, der sollte sich vom technisch mauen Grundgerüst auf keinen Fall abschrecken lassen. Blackwood Crossing ist ein berührendes, wertvolles Story-Erlebnis, das sich lohnt gespielt zu haben.

Nice imagery and interesting tale, but disturbing as it is about a teenage girl and her younger brother, who is seriously disturbed, psychotic, selfish, egotistical and dangerous. Finn allows his older sister no freedom to grow up, is jealous and causes her harm, fear and distress. If he grew up he would not care about her then, yet she must give him all her time. Yet she apologises to him! Finn traps Scarlett in train of his imagining, and the trapped feeling is oppressive througout most of the game. It is irritating when the game tells you what to do when, I would rather work it out myself, not be told when to press Q or E to do something for example. Other than that it is a clever idea well made and some scenes are beautiful. Would prefer more apologies from Finn and for him to accept he cannot control everyone and everything.

Nem szégyellem, hogy felnőtt férfi létemre megkönnyeztem ezt a történetet. Csodálatos, fájdalmas de érzelemdús három órát adott. Tökéletesen eltalált és kimért sztori, nem csúszik át giccsbe, nem szirupos, olyan mint az élet. Ajánlom azoknak akik nem félnek megélni az érzéseiket!
Technikailag egy sétaszimulátor, kalandjáték ötvözettel van dolgunk, nagyon szép a játék, remekül helyén van a zene is. Újrajátszhatósági faktor nincs, hogy a pénztárcánkat kíméljük érdemes egy akció keretében megvenni, mert hosszához képest elég borsos az ára.
Jusplathemusnak köszönhetően hozzám hasonló angolul nem értő sorstársaim is élvezhetik a játékot. Igényes fordítást készített hozzá. Köszönjük!

blackwood crossing is a very interesting game. It tells a strong story in an artistic way. The problem is the price to play time ratio. I played for 3 hours and passed the game, and i spent 17 euro for it. Whereas LIS BTS is in the same genre and has triple the playtime. I understand that its an indie studio, but its still a very far fetched price. I will still recommend the game for the people who want to support the developers and want a very original, artistic game.

[b][i]Blackwood Crossing[/i] ou les tribulations mélancoliques d'une jeune femme sur les pas de son petit frère à travers les wagons d'un train et dans le secret d'une cabane dans les arbres.[/b]

Scarlett se retrouve en compagnie de son petit frère Finn à bord d'un train curieusement déserté par les autres voyageurs. Elle va rapidement rencontrer de mystérieux personnages masqués et observer des phénomènes étranges.

Davantage [i]walk sim[/i] que aventure-action, le jeu ne présente aucune difficulté réelle et repose essentiellement sur sa dimension narrative. L'histoire est touchante et possède quelques passages particulièrement poétiques, voire poignants.

Dans un environnement qui alterne entre rêve et réalité, normalité et fantastique, Scarlett doit recréer des liens et reconstituer le passé en se confrontant à des thèmes comme les souvenirs, la culpabilité, les remords, le pardon, le deuil, l'amour, la vie, la mort.

Outre l'intérêt de l'histoire, il faut également signaler que la DA est plutôt réussie, entre le style élégamment épuré du menu, les graphismes sympas et la bande-son agréable.

Malheureusement le jeu contient également plein de petits défauts.
D'abord il est extrêmement linéaire et impose de multiples aller-retours. On renonce rapidement à prendre l'initiative d'explorer car cette démarche n'est uniquement utile quand on nous demande expressément de le faire.

Ensuite, les déplacements de Scarlett sont excessivement heurtés et exagérément lents.

Et puis on pourra mentionner également des options de dialogue sans réel impact (choix du ton adopté dans notre réplique), les mêmes lieux recyclés plusieurs fois dans des versions légèrement différentes et la gestion de l'inventaire pas très pratique (même si on y a recours que très ponctuellement).

Enfin, concernant la durée de vie très courte (2h, max 3h si on traîne en route), elle laisse le joueur sur des sentiments contradictoires : d'une part "[i]oh dommage l'aventure est déjà finie, on aurait voulu continuer l'aventure[/i]" et d'autre part "[i]c'était surtout long à cause de la vitesse de déplacement car le récit pourrait en fait tenir en 30 minutes[/i]".

En bref, [i]Blackwood Crossing[/i] se distingue essentiellement par l'intérêt de son histoire servie par une agréable DA plutôt réussie, mais le plaisir de jeu peut être restreint par son gameplay souvent frustrant et agaçant. It was kind of cute the first 20min or so of playing, but the forced slow-paced walking became annoying very quickly...especially if you have to back-track because you missed something. The game just feels extremely sluggish to get through.
Unlike my play-through of What Remains of Edith Finch, this game didn't draw me in or really cause me to empathize with the characters in any way. I generally just found the little brother annoying. I understand that's very subjective, but given the fact that the asking price for this game is around the same as Edith Finch, I'd recommend buying that instead. Way more thought was put into that game than this one in my opinion.

I was surprised how much I didn't like this game. I very rarely write negative reviews but this game angers me. Probably because of lost potential.

I bought it based on the visuals and good review score. I generally like this kind of games but this not one of them.

Initially I was very disappointed in controls. I played with gamepad and movement and controls felt very uncomfortable. The active areas were kind of hard to point at easily. The game reacts extremely slow on your actions. Not that it's stuttering or anything. It's just designed to be that way. Early on because of the movement in the game it gave me motion sickness.

Well, I could overcome bad controls and some motion sickness but the story is c*ap. I understand the authors tried to make some tragic story but I've played much better one based on the same idea. The dialogs are not interesting. The very few there are. The puzzles are non-existent. I don't know. Maybe it is a walking simulator kind of game?

I'm not sure if the game couldn't blossom because it was too short but I couldn't wait to get to the end and be done with it. It's extremely short length is probably it's biggest plus. You're done fast with this torture of a game.

Um jogo que lhe intriga do começo ao fim mesmo você já sabendo oque está se passando. Mostra uma visão com diferentes pontos de vista e um atmosfera bem detalhada a cada situação passada no game. Emoções se afloram ao decorrer da campanha me trazendo inúmeras sensações já vividas. Lindo jogo !

As someone who cried at this game I do highly recommend it! That said I do agree the controls were a bit janky in places and it was short for a game. That said if you love atmospheric games, emotionally devastating games and walking simulators than boy howdy this is the game for you.

If you're also like me a huge horror wuss there are no jump scares, it is mostly atmospheric, the closest is a scene at the end but you know it is coming and it's meant to be more emotionally distressing than jumpscare.

I ended the game crying and loving the characters. I would've loved a longer game to get to know them more but I don't know that could've stood the emotional impact had the game been longer.
