Just a couple hours in, but this title is much better than The Citadel already. There is a lot more thoughts put into how every weapon works mechanically (jam, unjam, ♥♥♥♥, load, reload, speed reloads) as well as leaning, movement and using the right tool for the job. Shooting the guns feel satisfying, and watching your enemies groan, gasp and die as you grind them down to red paste or kick them over if they block your LoS is crazy.
Disclosure, this game features extent gore and dismemberment, and most of the enemies you face are anime girls. So that does mean you will inflict a incredible amount of violence on anime girls. Some will even fall and gasp for their dying breath or pick up their pistol as a last ditch effort, so... you might have to execute some anime gurls. If you can't stomach that level of brutality, you probably shouldn't get this.
Level design is already more interesting than the first game, a lot more... sensible locations with more layout variations and enemy placement. I do feel like the game doesn't have quiet enough enemies to force these panic moments where you scrumble through your kit.
Writing is iffy. Tons of typos, it's quite clear english isn't the dev's first language, but it's not nearly offensive enough and it's not really the focus anyways.

Un FPS bastante atrapante, con una jugabilidad increible, con un gran lore y una waifu de protagonista, asi que si te gustan las monas chinas y DOOM este juego es para ti.
Overall a better version of the first game. I think it does stray away from being a boomer shooter, but it's still really good. With most games, I usually don't care about the story at all, and this is no exception. It was hard to follow, but I did like the religious themes. Weapons and combat overall are a lot better. Lots of weapons with alt modes and modifications. Reloading has changed. Pretty much there are 3 different keys you press to unload, reload, and prime the weapons. I found it pretty satisfying, but if you don't like it, you can change it to more standard reloading. The music is really good and stuck out more than the first game. The main issues I had were: low fps/crashing. wasn't a huge fan of specifically the tank sections, and I thought the ending levels dragged on. Also there's not much replayibility besides unlocking all weapons/modifications, the extra levels, and getting all achievements, which you can do all of this in a single playthrough. I'd say it's wort the $15. Definitely a weird and unique shooter game

If you loved Evangelion and have a gore fetish, you'll love this game. I despise both and that's why I can't give it a positive review. I hate universes that have *something* and refuse to elaborate clearly what they want and what they need. Everything's there to make a really good game with an actual good story of siblings love and some kind of divine appolaptic end of the world. But it refuses itself and prefer to be vague all the way to the end. Like evangelion. And some poeple love that. But I really don't see the appeal...
The sexualization and gore is irrelevant to what the game tries to achieve.
Please, note that the gameplay is far better than a lot of slop with hundreds of devs behind them that we get nowadays...
I'm actually sad to give it a negative review. But it feels wrong that I bought the game thinking I would get some kind of weird steampunk futuristic doom like game. Especially considering the overwhelming reviews... But my first axe swing then death made me instantly remove the gore option. It is THAT kind of gore, not the playful one.
I don't think I've wasted my time, it was a fun 2*3h of gameplay, maybe a bit too easy on medium difficulty on the late stages. But I would not recommend it to normal people going around the steam shop.

最高难度通关！战斗爽！！！
拖了那么久，终于舍得通关了。战斗手感很棒！枪械细节做的很到位，玩战术也可以很舒服。番茄汁飞得很爽，不能接受太血腥也可以把血腥模式关掉。复古风够味，立绘风格质量很nice，属于是在我xp上了。剧情上文本量不算多，没有玩过一代的前期可能一头雾水，但玩到游戏的中期后期将一些碎片化的信息拼凑起来咀嚼我认为是很棒的一个故事，通关理清剧情后甚至有些伤感，作者还是太懂遗憾系悲剧了，通关后回味了好久。复古血浆fps的战斗爽加带一些涩涩和G向.我要感谢它陪我度过这一段游戏时光，这是一款很棒的游戏。
期待还有续作或者类似的优秀游戏。（进我的收藏夹去吧！！！）
I'd like to start by saying that this game may look like a simple boomer shooter but it's a lot more than that.
It's a tough game, especially at the star but it has a very unique style of gameplay that involves semi realistic gunplay (reloading mechanics, bullet curve at long distances, realistically fatal injuries) and a great progression as you move along.
The gunplay is by far the most fun aspect of this game, and it sure uses it to its full extent. First, there's a lot of different weapons, you have to maintain them so they don't jam, you have to know how to properly fix them when they do jam, how to reload them so you don't waste ammo or destroy your magazine in the process, how to aim them, what they are good for, their alt fires and upgrades. There's a lot.
When I started playing this, it reminded me of my time in the army, you start cautiously peeking around every corner, fighting almost like you would in real life. But as you progress and your character becomes stronger and you become more skilled with the weapon mechanics, you find yourself zooming through levels fighting like you're in the matrix, dashing through the air while firing a heavy machine gun at an armored enemy, dodging plasma and bullets, or blocking them with a shield so you can get close enough to blast someone with your shotgun.
Honestly, nothing I say here can really do it justice.
I also really like the lore of this franchise which isn't easy to understand, somewhere in the community section there's a link to a google doc trying to explain it. But I'll try to sum it up -
Sometime in the future judgement day happens, 7 "trumpeters" show up and kill pretty much everyone but 144k people. These people are saved by "angels" who take pity on them and help them fight the trumpeters. A war ensues that crashes the moon into the earth which causes it to basically stop rotating over time, which leads to only a thin strip of survivable land known as the Twilight. Within the Twilight, there's 12 fortified cities where around 12,000 humans live each.
Humans then start using cybernetics, and the angels figure out the trumpeters are here because god is absent and they are trying to create a new God using the bits of god he gave to humanity in the past, So the angels end up creating this god to make them go away, and it works. However, this god instead infects everyone with cybernetics with a virus that completely overrides their brain and makes them nothing more than puppets. Including the angels themselves, who have been using cybernetics as well because they got hurt in the war.
In the previous game you hunt down these infected angels and free them by killing them and the new dreaming God.
Unfortunately, this causes the Trumpeters to return, and not only that, they've assumed command of all the infected humans that were previously under the sleeping God.
Now you need to go in and take them down.
In short, it's a good game, verry fun to play even if you have no idea what's going on. Highly recommended.
Итак, Beyond Citadel, казалось бы очередной бумер-шутер, но аниме! Однако данный шутан имеет некоторую вообще несвойственную особенность для большинства бумер шутеров (хотя бумер-шутерам в целом не свойственны какие-то особенности), а именно - некий реалистичный ганплей. Оружие нужно перезаряжать (внезапно), перезарядка в несколько этапов: вытащить магазин, наполнить патронами, вставить обратно, передёрнуть затвор, при этом оружие у нас изнашивается, клинит, ломается, магазины нужно докупать отдельно, магазин можно потерять, и всё вот это приправлено отличнейшими звуками стрельбы, звуками падающих гильз, приятнейшим импактом (внезапно импакт по 2д спрайтам!), расчленёнкой, орами и криками и очень богатым арсеналом оружия (около 30ти штук).
И вот глядя на скрины, трейлеры, а также всё вышесказанное, может сложиться ощущение что это некий тактический медленный экшон. И первое время, пока у нас мало оружия, низкие статки да и в целом непонятно как играть, игра именно так и ощущается. Но со временем персонаж бустится, противников наваливают куда больше, тут то и темп игры ускоряется.
При всех этих нюансах игра совсем не сложная, прошёл на максимальной без каких-либо проблем.
Минусы у игры классические для низкобюджетных проектов и жанра в целом: к концу игры всё приедатся и ощущается некоторая затянутость.
А, ну и не забываем что в игре есть сюжет и вроде как нормальный такой лор, и это японская аниме-дурка!
Итого: Beyond Citadel это очень хороший представитель бумер-шутеров, который имеет своё лицо, однозначно рекомендую всем любителям пострулять в спрайты!

这游戏不管是风格还是作画都完全长在我的xp点上，换弹机制很写实（吐槽一下：就是刚玩的时候不知道按R换弹给备用弹夹给换没了，所以推荐卸弹夹设置个鼠标侧键，这样习惯好养成打个几关就能熟练的进行快速换弹了），剧情上评价是实在是有些逆天（过于奇特了）；
顺便提一下以防你不知道（全困难打到最后会有些npc会带护盾，是因为生物被你解决的次数越多等级就越高，如果喜欢困难但又不想打的太便秘，可以回到酒馆和老板娘对话来用金币减少敌对生物等级）。

incredible game.
One of the best first person shooters I've ever played, mechanically speaking.
Has a fantastic aesthetic and weirdo sci-fi anime story.
Also is absolutely disgusting lol. Maybe the goriest game I've ever played - leans guro and fetishistic in it's violence, some of the ecchi art you unlock along with the costumes/character designs can be very unappealing depending on your personal taste so please take that into account.
But if you either enjoy that aesthetic or can at minimum tolerate it, you will have an incredible time.
While the games contents are off putting to most, beneath the thinly veiled fetish is actually a brilliant game both in gameplay and in design and art direction.
Incredibly unique title overall and look forward to more of it.
Bonus points if you have a gore fetish (guro) I suppose.

Автор взял стилистику и сюжет аля евангелион, добавил визуал и геймплей аля первый дум, и сверху приправил условно реалистичным обращением с оружием, таким, с которым я раньше сталкивался только в VR играх. В VR это делалось руками, а тут через последовательные нажатия по клавиатуре, но суть та же: в данном случае есть отдельная кнопка для извлечения магазина, отдельная - для того, чтобы вставить новый магазин, и отдельная - чтобы передёрнуть затвор. Такая механика перезарядки опциональная, но в ней львиная доля фана от игры, так что отключать не рекомендую. Еще оружие может клинить (если его состояние достаточно низкое), и в таком случае придётся неоднократно передёргивать затвор, пока проблемный патрон не извлечётся, и работоспособность оружия не восстановится.
У героя есть прокачка, уровни получаем при собирании определенных предметов. По одному такому предмету есть на каждом из 1-4 уровней каждого акта. Из-за наличия такой прокачки есть резон исследовать уровни, а не просто рашить к выходу. Особо билдостроения как такового нет - к концу финального акта все статы будут прокачаны ровно на максимум, так что мы только выбираем в какой последовательности мы качаемся по ходу игры. Статы можно бесплатно перераспределять, что удобно.
Реалистичное обращение с оружием сначала меня натолкнуло на мысль, что с расходниками и в целом экономикой здесь всё будет тоже тяжело, но нет - игра в целом достаточно лёгкая даже на максимальной сложности, расходников, патронов и денег просто навалом. Есть определенные трудности разве что с шестерёнками, которые тратятся на починку снаряжения - снаряжение ломается быстро, и шестерёнок на полную починку никогда не хватает. Но это вполне обходится за счёт переизбытка денег - вместо того, чтобы чинить уже имеющееся оружие, нужно просто покупать у торговца новое - оно будет в идеальном состоянии (а еще изредка оружие попадается статично лежащим на уровнях, либо выпадает с поверженных противников). Прокачка оружия за деньги апгрейдит все подбираемые стволы данного вида, что очень удобно - иначе чиниться через торговца было бы невыгодно из-за потери прокачки. Проблема тут разве что со слотами под СМГ и энерго-пистолет - большую часть игры в этих слотах в продаже доступно единственное оружие, а купить у торговца то же самое, что и так у тебя в руках, игра не позволяет. Поэтому эти слоты либо чинить как раз таки шестерёнками, либо просто ими особо не пользоваться.
Методичный геймплей работает очень эффективно, но скучно. Мне не хватило засад, в которых нельзя было бы просто отбежать за угол и оттуда спокойно всех набегающих ботов перестрелять. Единственная интересная засада была только под конец игры, а жаль, хотелось бы побольше.
В целом игра очень понравилась. Очень необычное и интересное сочетание стилистики и геймплея.

These days it feels like a lot of indie retro-FPS are like, "Remember Doom? Remember Blood? Remember Doom (2016)?" This game on the other hand, has some real vision. It has everything I could ever ask for in a shooter, it feels good to move, it feels good to shoot, it feels good to kill, you get to pilot a tank, you get to pilot a mech, all with a fascinating take on a post-apocalyptic setting and an actually compelling plot. Of course, the game's extreme content won't be for everyone. As someone who isn't bothered by fictional gore, some of the death animations even made my stomach turn.

The sequel to the "The Citadel", this game plays the same with just a bit more of everything. Some more guns, more missions, a bit more lore, more techincal finesse, same vibe. A good retro shooter.

I didn’t want to buy this game. I really disliked the level design and the visual style. Especially after the god-tier Cultic. But the discount was too good to pass up…
To my surprise — I actually liked it. It’s probably the most unique neo-retro shooter in terms of gameplay.
The cool thing is that the combat is built around “realistic” ballistics and reloading. The gunplay takes your ammo caliber into account. On top of that, the damage system is based on zoning (you can shoot off legs, arms, etc.). Enemies generally die quickly (just like you).
When you enter a level, you have a limited number of “lives.” Once they’re gone — that’s it. Restart the level. There’s no manual saving, only rare checkpoints (and only if you find them).
This creates a great gameplay dynamic — the game encourages slow, tactical progression. You’ve got all the tools for it.
In this context, the schematic visual style actually feels more justified.
And yeah, the game has a ton of lore and a cool story. But you can totally ignore all that and just enjoy it as a really solid shooter.

quite possibly the prettiest game i done ever played in my whole entire life
I got this game in a bundle thinking I would try it and uninstall it after 5 minutes. Once you get over the extreme levels of gore (ie turn it off in the settings) and the kind of s3xual anime vibes, it's actually a really enjoyable shooter with interesting level designs that are always adding new mechanics and enemies to keep it interesting. The gun mechanics are surprisingly detailed with separate buttons for unloading the mag, loading the mag and cocking the rifle. You can turn this feature off and just have it be a normal "press R to reload" but why would you?
Overall, some strange thematic choices that are more than made up for with great gameplay features and engaging progression.

Откинем сюжет это японская дрочь на религию с демонами и ангелами.
Главное у игры это какую ты себе перезарядку хочешь ее 3 вида, типичная аля беги и шмаляй как из Кал оф Дюти, полностью ручная [spoiler]Это когда смена магазина и передергивание затвора делается руками тоесть на мета магнуме на винчестере и снайперке можно до заряжать патроны без смены магазина[/spoiler], и полу мера когда в прицеле до зарядка сама проходит.
И куча деталей про которые игра не раcказывает типо того что можно делать вертуху как из F.E.A.R.
Есть забавная система брони, одетость перса если оно уместно с внешним видом понижает урон и есть стандартная классификация легкая средняя и т.д.
Стрельба по картонкам сопровождается баллистикой, рикошетами, и старым добрым ультра насилием.
[spoiler]С около пиксельным арт дизайном с аниме стилистикой игра разбавляет неплохими такими артами и одним артом который показывает "сюприз" xD[/spoiler]
А еще на некоторых момента нам дадут погонять на танке, залесть в сраного робота и еще полетать на пепилаце.
Все враги кроме демонюг онли фредли подружайки с пушками кибер эплантами всех мастей (один вид брони пряма таки отсылает из аниме Оборотни) любищие стонать с ахегаю фейсами или настреливать в полусмертном состояния нам в спину.
Из минусов можно отметить это размер карт порой слишком большой и системе становиться плохо + куча прожектайлов и бегающих картонок тоже сделают плохо системе.
[spoiler]Есть жалобы что под конец картонки становятся жирными с энергощитами особенно водолаз с огнеметом да они жирные но я не проверял такую штуку. Если выйти из главного хаба наружу и зайти в местный бар там барменша за токены может понизить уровень врагов.[/spoiler]

Fairly long game, much longer than i was expecting, story was well done and interesting, the gunplay and combat was phenomonal. My only complaint is that i actually think some of the levels could be shorter. Thought the game's art direction was cool too. 9/10 game overall, but i dont think i could just recommend this game to everyone, especially not the people i know in real life, its very gory and nasty. Bartender was my favorite character.
Developer. I know what you are. Great gameplay, reminiscent of Marathon (1990's, not 2026 although the newest one is pretty good too tbh) with one of the enemies looking a Compiler crossed with an anime girl. Gunplay is exceptional with manual locking/loading mechanics possible. The lore is a bit esoteric, Dark Souls style. My only complaints are the music which sounds a bit flat but otherwise i definitely recommend.

주인공 디자인이랑 세계관이 매력있어보여서 해봤는데, 예상 밖의 수위와 하드코어(신체절단, 장기자랑, 료나장르)때문에 좀 많이 얼얼했음.
근데 또 웃긴게 제작자가 건플레이랑 레벨마다 되게 정성들였다라고 생각이 들 정도로 디테일한 총기 관리 시스템이랑, 탈 것 시스템때문에 플레이 하는 동안은 엄청 재밌게 즐겼다.

Combat is very satisfying, especially when getting clean hits. Lot of weapons and movement mechanics to play with, definitely has it's own feel compared to games like DOOM. The story I wasn't too invested in, but aesthetically it holds it very well.
В общем то, эта игра - как первая часть, но отполированная почти до идеала.
Из плюсов:
1. Импакт от стрельбы все так же хорош. Попадания хорошо ощущаются, противники кайфово дохнут.
2. Появилась прокачка, которой не было в первой части. Она простая, но весьма обширная. Прокачиваются характеристики главной героини, на оружие вешаются по паре модификаций. На картах можно найти пассивные перки, большинство из которых необходимы для прохождения уровней и их не пропустишь. Ну и постепенно открывается более мощная броня - 3 штуки, поглощающая 25/33/50% урона соответственно. Для обычного линейного шутера, прокачка неплохая.
3. Как и в первой части можно покупать/продавать боеприпасы и оружие.
4. Визуально игра стала чуть более детализированной и привлекательной. До эталона бумер-шутеров в этом плане, а именно "Ion Fury", игре все еще очень далеко, но игра все так же, как и первая часть, визуально необычна, с японской самобытностью, но чуть более детализирована.
5. Арты в галерее классные. Хорошо бы разработчик выпустил отдельный пак с артами из игры, было бы круто! Жаль, но это маловероятно.
6. И еще через уровень-хаб можно возвращаться в любой пройденный акт и перепроходить его. Отдельные уровни выбрать нельзя, но возможность перепройти хотя бы целый акт, если что то пропустил в нем или просто так - это приятная и удобная возможность. Спасибо разработчику, что учитывает и реализует такие мелочи.
7. Сюжет. Он здесь есть и весьма неплохой. Правда все такой же сложный для понимания, как и в первой части. Опять какой то артхаус, но прикольный.
8. Музыка в игре тоже хороша. Кто то жалуется, что динамичных треков в отличии от первой части здесь уже практически нет. Но на мой взгляд, это не проблема. Напротив, музыка здесь идеально подчеркивает меланхоличную атмосферу безысходности.
Недостатки же, в основном остались все те же:
1. Хоть игра и стала визуально поинтереснее, чем первая часть, но она все такая же однообразная и к концу может визуально наскучить. Опять первый уровень в игре от последнего почти ничем друг от друга не отличаются. Визуально игра хороша, но разнообразия ей не хватает.
2. Все так же имеется переизбыток боеприпасов. Их слишком дофига. Лично я теряю интерес, когда мне совершенно не нужно экономить патроны и подбирать конкретное оружие под конкретного противника и конкретную ситуацию. Механика варьирования оружия теряется, становится слишком легко играть.
3. Оптимизация в игре как то хромает. Особенно на больших картах. Чем больше карта, тем сильнее проседает ФПС. Упасть может аж до 25 единиц. Что то странное, с учетом графики игры.
4. Все так же нет быстрых сохранений. Игра не сложная, можно накопить до 20ти жизней, но все-равно, с возможностью сохраняться в любой момент времени играть было бы гораздо удобнее.
Итого - это очень хороший шутер, лучше первой части, со множеством классных механик и элементов, но для меня все еще далек от идеала.

this game is the sequel to The Citadel and it fixes every single issue the first game had and the first game was already amazing. the last three boss fights are the most fun i've ever played the levels are varied and well made the collectables are fun and progressing through the game is an joy. 10/10 will play again

The game is awesome, great gameplay and mechanics, story is awesome and the ambiance is perfect. Unfortunately the game as of the last update feels rushed to completion, especially the strip of ng+ and multiple endings so there is low replayability if bought now, probably was great when receiving updates and still in development. I'll wait the third game to see if it's any better

1) Левел дизайн - дно. Эффект "куда же мне, ♥♥♥♥♥, идти?!" происходит крайне часто, постоянно приходится бекпедалить, чтобы не быть окруженным, в лейт гейме это в разы критичнее, так как мобы жирнеют, а у огнеметчиков и плазмострелов появляется энергощит.
2) Механика поломки - дно. Многое оружие приходит в негодность слишком быстро, первую половину игры у тебя нет ни денег, ни ресурсов на приобретение нового или на ремонт. В лейт гейме ты настоящая привокзальная поберушка.
3) Механика прокачки - дно. Ярчайший пример: тебе дают воллран и воллджамп на 3 платформер уровня ПОСЛЕ прохождения финального босса, ♥♥♥♥♥, спасибо, ♥♥♥♥♥. По сути тебе нужны основные статы, увеличение пополнения полоски за прием бладбега, О2 баллона, сухпая, на снижение отдачи. Большего и не нужно, мувспид в игре не важен, потому что тебе негде двигаться, а там где есть, приходится заниматься снайперским онанизмом по особым мобам.
4) Прогрессия противников - дно. Замена доброй четверти обычных противников на просто жирных ублюдков в лейт гейме при меньшем кол-ве ресурсов на уровне это не повышение сложности, это ♥♥♥♥♥ из-под коня.
5) Музыка(???) - дно. Ну, как музыка? Ее тут почти нет, две клавиши на синтезаторе в качестве эмбиента это даже не музыка. В игре примерно 3-4 уровня, где действительно есть ХОТЯ БЫ КАКАЯ-ТО музыка, не говоря уже о том, что музыка соответствует происходящему.
6) Распределение ресурсов по левелам - дно. В лейт гейме ресурсов слишком мало, и их тип не соответствует тому, что игрок будет использовать в ситуации, куда его кидает разработчик, плюс, на это накладывается механика поломки и сложности с ремонтом или покупкой нужного оружия заново. В итоге ты можешь носить много патронов на оружие, которое в данный период бесполезно, и наоборот, не иметь необходимых патронов, а самый сок это когда твой гранатомет в очередной раз сгорает за 15 выстрелов (что мало в контексте его урона), у тебя есть выстрелы, но на карте нет торговца для покупки, а тебе еще два танка взорвать надо.
7) Оружие кроме мета магнума, автомата с гранатометом, пулемета, дробовика, винтовки, С4 - дно
В целом ощущение, будто бы у человека был целый ворох идей, который он не смог скомпилировать и добавил все в винегрет из механик, которые в комплексе превращают бумер шутер в методичный отстрел мобиков, уровни (кроме 5EX) не способствуют бодрой игре. С другой стороны, игра сделана одним человеком и можно все на это списать, но даже гуро здесь с тонной упущенных возможностей для реализации интересных идей, к примеру, добивание недобитков не дает вообще ничего, кроме разлетевшийся в фарш анимешки.
Если кратко: не стоит оно внимания, поиграйте во что-нибудь другое.
A good game, hard though I did play on Zealot difficulty so that was expected. Was not expecting the story.
Genuinely a good game. The world is super interesting, the story keeps you guessing. Gunplay is fun and a bit more advanced than other similar games. The art is great, a bit jarring at first if you are not used to games with "anime violence". Music is.. interesting.
It needs a few more passes to ensure that the writing makes sense and flows better, to make the NPCs stand out a bit more and to ensure the music fits the level it is playing it. Some of it has certainly been a choice.
But even then, it is rather excellent and I cannot seem to put it down.

на первый взгляд это мод на первый дум , но нет - микромеханики , враги , локации и геймплей более ( для аниме тюбика ( меня )) приятнее и динамичнее . каждая миссия не похожа на предыдущую , дерешься с аниме тяночками , которые эпично превращаются в гуро месиво , а если скачать определенный мод то это будет хентай гуру месиво . из механик это ОМАГАД я не видел не в одной игре такую ебанутую в хорошей смысле механику перезарядки - единственно что я не понял это как ♥♥♥♥♥ 2 узи одновременно перезарядить , все обычные для перезарядки комбинации и клавиши жмякал - ни ху я. есть секретные комнаты после нахождения определенной части тела или органов маленькой эээ девушки вроде , так же на уровнях встерчаются арты героини или каких то еще механизированных аниме субстанций. кстати еще одна из микромеханик это предсмертные анимации и действия нпс , они могут взорвать гранату вместе с собой , взять пистолет и начать стрелять , либо просто лежать и держать свои внутренности руками , впервые вижу такое в стиме да и в общем . игра на 10 из 10 . я на уровне гордона рамзи могу заявить что всех 4000 тенге эта игра стот , до малейшего цента
Great sequel to the first game, it adds many more movement mechanics to the game allowing for smoother gameplay like airdashing and grappling hooks, gunplay feels better than the original although it takes getting used to. It adds backstory to the martyr and worldbuilding which is always good 9/10
Guns
Fantastic boomer shooter with several erotic/sexual/fetish elements and an interesting religious story.
- The gunplay is extremely satisfying and interesting. It's so crisp, and the guns sound so powerful. I get annoyed when games punish you for reloading early, so I'm surprised I stuck with a system that makes you unload the mag manually, let it refill, load it back in and then chambering the gun/pulling back the hammer. All with separate inputs. Definitely stay with the base gun settings, it's very fun and unique.
- I quite enjoyed hunting for the level ups/collectible images 💢
- The lore is pretty interesting. Makes me sad that I didn't even know this was a sequel and not a standalone game. I will likely check out the 1st game (The Citadel) some time in the future.
x The only downside was the performance in the later levels. Absolutely criminal for a game that plays this good to tank FPS when it gets hectic :( very sad.
x If you don't enjoy sexual/erotic/fetish elements in non-porn games, you may not enjoy this one. I personally was pleasantly surprised :)

One of the most innovative gunplay in years which accuratelly recreates individual weapon's mechanics in a comprehensive and simple way, making my gun nerd side very happy.
Add on top of that in depth lore with genuinely disturbing themes and levels of gore for a unique experience.
(a few CONS if I were obligated to list some: somewhat repetitive level design, boring boss fights and frequent crashes. Still my GOAT 2025 regardless)

honestly its a fantastic game that runs extremely well. it has cool and satisfying gunplay plus of course the sprites have a lot of work put into them. if your a fan of boomer shooters and want a new cool story with some spice into it i recommend it whole heartedly (ps i recommend playing in the first part of the game "the citadel" to get a grasp on the story of the sequel.) (pps the only gripe i have about this game is the lack of consistent audio volume. some things are louder than others despite there being a set audio volume cap but honestly that's about it)

Beyond Citadel expands on the previous game a lot. The gunplay is top-notch, and there are so many different ways to manage. Personally, I didn't reload because I didn't want to accidently lose the mag, so I would just unload it and reload it when it refilled. All of the guns were great and had their own styles. Enemies were challenging and dangerous. All around, just a fun game to play.
The story and lore is insane and blends a lot of scifi and biblical themes in a very interesting way and adds a lot to the games appeal. There are a lot of disturbing themes and imagery and the overall feel is hopelessness, but shooting stuff makes you feel better again.
Extra - The music is really good and carries the feeling of each level. Couldn't ask for more

most of my compliments from the first game apply here, beautiful spritework, interesting gun mechanics, etc. this game also runs better without any crashes, and falling now doesnt kill you.
there are also some new features this time around. virtues which allow you to upgrade the martyr (e.g. movement speed), and more complex gun features, including jamming. there is also more characters, including more merchants, and the martyrs younger brother.
however, the only real complaint i have is the ads sprites size on the screen.
i also think i prefer the first over the second. i dont really know why, but its just like that.
however, if you were able to make me actually buy your game after i pirated it previously, i think you were onto something. i would absolutely buy this after playing the first game.
WARNINGS:
gore (duhh), controversial story elements at times (i'll say its got to do with the martyr and her younger brother, you can figure it out yourself), nudity (the nudity in collectable art is toggleable, but i noticed some dead enemies are FULLY naked. not stuff youd want parents or guests to see).
dih in one hand and a large caliber gun in the other. truly a masterpiece of the tactical shooter genre.

喜欢FPS枪械和千万别错过 游戏虽无汉化不过在B站有中文补丁
[h1] It's a really good 8/10 indie game. [/h1]
The fact that this game was made by a single developer is kind of insane, and while the cracks do tend to show, it's more like a kintsugi work of art. Here are my nitpicks:
- My mouse-clicks occasionally wouldn't register, leaving me face to face with something shooting me.
- The game could get incredibly choppy if there was a lot going on (Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX5080, plenty of RAM, Gen 5 M.2 storage), but this was incredibly infrequent. [spoiler]Zone 8 is probably the worst offender. I found Discord was too much for it. Running the game by itself was enough to get through that level.[/spoiler]
- The sound mixing could use a lot of polish.
- The English translation isn't perfect, but it's about 95% the way there.
That's really it, the worst thing being frequently unresponsive mouse-clicks, something that doesn't happen with any other game. Regardless, none of it ruined the game for me. [i] Beyond Citadel [/i] accomplishes exactly what it sets out to. It's an anime-themed Boomer Shooter with tactical reloads, gruesome violence, and the occasional set of tig-ass biddies floating in a bloody lake. You can tell where most of the inspirations came from, but just like [i] Stellar Blade[/i], it's not ripping off as much as it's just HEAVILY inspired. You could compare this game to [i] Boltgun[/i], except this game isn't hurrying you along on a set of maglev rails at 200mph. It eases you in before making you an unstoppable badass.
[h2] Gameplay [/h2]
It's tactical without being [i] ARMA III[/i], and the tactical mechanics you do get aren't deep as much as they're stylish and fun. You can lean, which is crucial in the beginning, but after 2 or 3 zones it's not that necessary. You get staged reloading, but your tactical reload has you dropping the mag and makes it unrecoverable. Seems like a good option when you're taking fire, but it's not saving you that much time. You'll only ever do it accidentally, and if you don't have a spare mag in the first place, won't be doing it much at all. You can crouch, but can't go prone. It's a Boomer Shooter, so you won't really ever have to. You get a few different kicks, but they don't do nearly as much damage as you wish they'd do. It's more for making distance between you and whatever is standing in your way, but the running double leg executioner kick really should explode heads or SOMETHING cooler than the same exact thing a standing kick does. You can remap every action and you can use the number keys, a weapon wheel, or your mouse's scroll wheel to swap between weapons. The game gives you a lot of choice.

[spoiler]It has one, but that's not the point. The point is getting the collectibles: blessings, artworks, the ecchi artworks, and the 15 achievements. The ending is a little disappointing, and frankly, so are the bosses. You will not die to any of the bosses. They're easier than the bosses in [i] Bioshock[/i].[/spoiler]
[h2] Why You Want to Play It [/h2]
If you grew up playing all the Doom WADs, all the id Engine games (Doom, Heretic, Hexen... Chex Quest... etc.), or even if you're a fan of modern Boomer Shooters like [i] Boltgun[/i], [i] Doom Eternal[/i], or the [i] Shadow Warrior[/i] remakes, this game is a lot of fun for $20. It takes something like the mod Brutal Doom and cranks it up to 11, though. There is a lot of gore, but this is a post-apocalypse. There's gonna be gore. Shoot the ground to bounce flachette rounds into the knees of a soldier fresh out of [i] Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade[/i], only to find they're still breathing and pulling out their sidearm to keep up the fight. Kick that soldier in the helmet to reveal it's actually a mind-controlled waifu with what appears to be an ahegao face, realize it's their "dying face" and give a few more kicks for good measure, and then realize you kick way too hard and they're no longer "dying". That all happened in a fistful of seconds, and you have other robots and mind-controlled waifu soldiers looking to tear your insides out.
It's a damn good game, and it is as much a showcase for someone with a vision as much as it's a level I hope to see doekuramori move beyond in the future. While the game doesn't necessarily end on any cliffhangers, there's plenty of lore there to jump off of and have a prequel/sequel happen, hopefully one that is even more polished and refined.
Greatest game ever made?
First off, a complete upgrade from the first game. The guns are more in depth and doesn't lead to you only relying on one or two weapons (although, there were clearly superior weapons). The music throughout the game was great and had a nostalgic feel to them. Longer levels, interesting mechanics, unique weapons, fantastic upgrades from the first game's barebone structure. Second, the small bits of lore sprinkled through the story really adds to the experience, as you realize the absolute crisis and devastation of the world. I just wish there was more character depth for the NPCs, so that Act 6 would be more impactful, but a vast improvement from the first game. Last. the only complaint I really have is the ending as it felt very abrupt. The lead up made sense, and giving the player the ability to piece together and speculate about the game's world is fantastic, but the immediate cut to the End with nothing after the journey sucked. I would still recommend this game as it does what it sets out to do, a boomer shooter.
Tran-ny coded game if I ever saw one. Very grateful that I got this in a bundle and never paid for this crap.
I'll start with the cons since there arent many. There are really only two; optimization and the dialogue.
You might not notice the bad optimization until 7-3, but on 7-3, it's [b]really[/b] bad and your frames will suffer. Aside from that, there were only a few other instances of lower fps but not unplayable.
The other thing, the dialogue. It's not hard to tell the dev isn't a native English speaker, and since this was a solo project, the dialogue probably didn't get much proofreading. You'll find instances of spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and other stuff that might trip you up when you read it. However, if you can look past it, you're in for some nice lore.
Now that the cons are out of the way, I'll list some things I liked about Beyond Citadel.
Like the prequel game, The Citadel, the gunplay is pretty fun and there are definitely different playstyles you can go with. I mentioned in my review for The Citadel that you could get through the game using 1-2 weapons because there were weapons that were leagues better than other ones. This isnt the case for Beyond Citadel, and you'll find that you'll probably be using most of the weapons throughout your playthrough. Obviously there are weapons that are better than others, but you'll find yourself using most of the variety given to you.
The story and lore of this game are well done, which was one of my complaints about The Citadel. There [b]is[/b] a goal you are trying to reach, and the game does a good job at guiding you towards that goal narratively. The lore is also dripfed to you as you play, which allows you to kind of theorize about what the story of the game and the characters are about. The NPCs in the game also have enough unique personality that they don't feel generic, and you might find yourself getting attached.
I like that there are a few different gameplay loops, and it isnt just the one "boots on the ground" type gameplay all the time. It keeps it from becoming too stale, which I like.
All that being said, if you liked The Citadel, chances are, you'll like Beyond Citadel. It improves on a lot of the things The Citadel was lacking, especially weapon balance and story. If you're able to look past some rough dialogue and the occasional optimization issues, you're in for a good time.
Just finished the game, it was a hell of a ride, Beyond Citadel is one of a strange game (if not the strangest)
the plot and lore is kinda convoluted but you are being fed during all the game with all the tiny bit of information to make you understand fully the game.
the gameplay is 10/10, a doomlike fps 2d experience that make you enjoy every tiny detail, the weapon have an inspect toggle that make's you love the attenction to every aspect of the gun you are using, the feeling of shooting with a pistol, a shotgun or a heavy machine gun is very distinct, also the reload mechanics is like irl, you manage your mag you ♥♥♥♥ the gun to put the next bullet in to the chamber and so on, the gun have a jam mechanic and also almost all of them have a secondary shot that is kinda op, and they are also upgradable.
the aesthetic are insane, yeah you see anime character being brutally murdered and you see a noticeable ammount of gore, but it kinda fit with the lore and i must say the attention even in the gore png are kinda cool, Beyond Citadel is not a game, is an experience that is definitely worth the try...

A much improved sequel to an already good game. The dev could have made a more streamlined experience from the reviews of the first, but he doubled down on just how weird he wanted things to be and I love that. Gunplay is good, fast, fun, the level design is so baffling that it wraps around to making perfect sense, plus the music is much improved. Also, it's just as horny as the last game, if not more so. For true freaks only.

Me gustó mucho el gameplay. Es una mezcla entre ultrakill y el mod Hideous Destructor de Doom (táctico/realista), ponle gore, monas chinas y un lore como ultrakill nuevamente y sale este juego.
Si bien no jugué la parte 1, la historia de esta segunda parte me atrapó. La mezcla de esta junto a la música, me hizo sentir que todo lo que jugaba era como un sueño febril, en el buen sentido.
Siento que puede mejorar en la creación de mapas más detallados/artísticos, se sentía como jugar Wolfenstein 3D en algunas ocasiones, cuando sentía que podía verse como el modpack de Brutal Doom.
En algunas partes el lag era insufrible, como cuando usaba un avión o los mapas eran muy grandes
Ojalá saquen una tercera parte para dar por concluida la saga.
En resumen: Si buscas un FPS frenético, rápido, pero que tambien sea gunnerd/tacticool, con harta violencia y que pese 1.5GB. Este juego te va a gustar.
Si bien tiene cosas sugerentes, no llega al punto de ser un juego hentai.
