Не верится, что игре уже больше 20 лет! Весьма крепкий и незаслуженно забытый экшн.
Милитаристская атмосфера в духе Warhammer 40,000, крутая музыка, увлекательные траншейные перестрелки, олдскульная перезарядка оружия (с выкидыванием неотстрелянных патронов!), классное ощущение тяжести брони и ее дизайн, телевизионные видеовставки, гладиаторские бои, управляемые мехи, напарники разных классов - в общем в игре много достойных внимания фишек, которые уже не встретишь в современных шутерах.
В 2026-м, несмотря на возраст, все еще играется довольно бодро (не хуже многих хардкорных ретро-шутеров), но для обеспечения максимального комфорта рекомендую первым делом после установки проделать следующие шаги:
1) В настройках графики проверьте, что все стоит на максимуме и включите постобработку и вертикальную синхронизацию (по умолчанию они всегда отключены), НО НИ В КОЕМ СЛУЧАЕ НЕ МЕНЯЕЙТЕ РАЗРЕШЕНИЕ!
От этого игра крашится так, что перестает запускаться
(если вы вдруг столкнулись с такой проблемой, перейдите в Библиотека Steam -> правый клик на Bet on Soldier -> Свойства -> Установленные файлы -> Проверить целостность файлов игры).
2) В настройках управления поменяйте кнопку "Быстрая загрузка" с F12 на F9. В противном случае при попытке сделать скриншот вы будете перезапускать уровень.
Кстати, щит и зум снайперской винтовки активируется нажатием колесика мышки - если вам тоже это неудобно, то поменяйте, например, на правую кнопку.
3) Поставьте русификатор:
⋆ Перейдите в файлы Steam (находим такой или похожий путь):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Bet On Soldier\Mods\Bos\Gui
⋆ Найдите в папке "Gui" еще 3 папки "Strings", "Textures" и "Xml"
⋆ В каждой из этих 3 папок удалите папку "EN" (английский перевод)
⋆ И переименуйте во всех 3 папках папку "RU" в "EN".
4) Поменяйте разрешение в файлах игры:
⋆ Перейдите в файлы Steam (находим такой или похожий путь):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Bet On Soldier\Mods\Bos\Settings
* Откройте файл Video.cfg с помощью блокнота
* Найдите эти две строчки:
Height_Release = XXXX.000000;
Width_Release = XXXX.000000;
* Поменяйте (только в этих двух строчках!) значения на желаемые - например, такие:
Height_Release = 1080.000000;
Width_Release = 1920.000000;
* Сохраните и закройте файл, в его свойствах укажите "Только чтение" и нажмите "Применить".
5) Расширьте FOV (угол обзора):
⋆ Перейдите в файлы Steam (находим такой или похожий путь):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Bet On Soldier\Mods\Bos\Tuning
* Откройте файл GamePlay.cfg с помощью блокнота
* Поменяйте на 90.0 (или другое желаемое вами значение) все значения в строчках с Fov, а именно:
GameFovView1, GameFovView2, GameFovShieldOn, GameFovView1Bots, GameFovView2Bots, GameFovShieldOnBots, ExoFovFirstPerson.
Пара советов по самой игре:
- Обязательно берите хотя бы одним из напарников инженера и берегите его - он будет бесплатно чинить вашу броню, щит и даже меха (экзоскелет)
- По комбинации оружия рекомендую пистолет-пулемет (для боев на средней дистанции), снайперскую винтовку (для боев на дальней дистанции) и тяжелый дробовик (для боев на короткой дистанции и мехов)
- Пополняйте запас патронов и сохраняйтесь у каждой станции - денег вам хватит на все, к концу игры девать их будет просто некуда
- Самые жирные гладиаторы, включая последних боссов и даже на чемпионском уровне сложности, проще всего убиваются в рукопашку с помощью рото-блейда, поскольку он игнорирует магнитный щит любого противника. Главное перед каждой схваткой - иметь полностью отремонтированную броню, быстро подобраться вплотную и целиться в голову (3-4 ударов всегда достаточно).

Я стреляю в кого хочу,
всех вокруг с гранатомёта мочу.
Хочу автомат звоню в военкомат.
Безобразная духанина. Сложно найти более душный шутер чем этот.
Даже Chaser где-то на один пункт позади, даже паршивая Red Faction 2. Но не до шутеров из РФ. Они хуже.
Полоумный геймдизанер решил, что классно будет схлеснуть игрока с противниками в которых нужно засаживать целую обойму с автомата, ну типо же все бронированы как танки. Только проблема, что в таком режиме игра начинает неимоверно бесить и ощущаться нечестной. Безумно утомительно отстреливать болванчиков с их дёрганной анимацией, проблему стрельбы умножает ещё и количество врагов и откровенно паршивый дизайн уровней.
А ещё идея гладиаторских боёв. Вообще идея хорошая, на бумаге. На бумаге так же хороша идея "Получения денег за убийства" - настоящая идея полоумного капитализма, где поехавшая бухгалтерия выписывает чек за картинное размазывание мозгов противника. За каждого убитого дают боблеца, что должно само по себе мотивировать остервенело мочить друг друга в жерновах империалистических войн. Ну а что по итогу? Выпил бестолковок у лысых членососов быстро надоедает, поскольку противник криво анимирован и откровенно толст. Гладиаторы похожи больше на дурных ваномасов, что увидели некачественную текстуру (тебя) и таскают на себе шизо арсенал из газовых гранат и шизо патрон, всё это приправлено толстым силовым щитом, который ещё нужно правильно сбить. Но ... интересно ли?
Не-а. и в 2005 не было это весело и в 2026 эта шляпа тем более не будет.
Всё выше перечисленное - Намба ван духотищи в игре. Отдаю должное, некоторые противники реально сложные, но через чур уж мобам дали много здоровья и выдали пушки с которыми они просто отправляют игрока в пьяный угар. История... Какая история? А какая-то душная каша.
Конечно не уровень шутеров из России, но всё равно достаточно плохо и утомительно.
Для этой шляпы вышло аж два дополнения, как будто ждал кто-то... Могли бы включить их в основное издание, ну так, для полноты картины.

Сокращенно Bos (типо сокращение игры BoS и дополнение BoS, BOS bos поняли же шутку? А? А... ну ладно)
Если основная игра душила паршивой постановкой миссии и паршивой стрельбой, то аддон теперь душит ещё и отбитым визуалом. Ничего лучше в игре не стало. Приключение на 1 час и это даже хорошо.Но всё равно - Крайне не рекомендую.

Ещё одно дополнение. Часа на 2. Смотреть на кипящую в котелке кашу приятнее, чем играть в это.
Если основная игра это как жрать сухие сухари без воды, то проходить аддоны это как грызть сухари которые ещё кто-то обoccaл.
Два часа будем созерцать постройки из профнастила, храмы и лысые джунгли.
Плохо? Да плохо.

Бывает что старые игры недооценивают. Бывает.. Но чаще всего такие проекты с самого начала шляпа полная и лучше не станут. Не стоит давать ностальгии говорить внутри себя. Если когда то нравилось, оставь эту игру в памяти такой, какой она была [i] тогда [/i]
[h1]Ставка на дурачка[/h1]
[b]BoS[/b] - стрелялка от первого лица про вечную войнушку, которая популяризуется в массах через телешоу с гладиаторским боями.
Идейно это - натягивание гениальности сюжета из "Вспомнить всё" Верховена на каркас безвестной Iron Storm, вновь без внятных финальных разрешений.
Выполняем миссии подрывного характера во всех уголках света, которые ничем не примечательны. Ну там заводы-фабрики-базы и разрушенные города...
Косим двуногих врагов, мехов, танки - за это начисляют деньгу, которую тратим на месте в терминалах на броню-патроны-сохранения, а меж заданиями - на открываемое оснащение.
Уже через пару миссий игра ничего нового не предложит, а только будет кидать больше и толще вражин.
Лёгкое вооружение стреляет как-будто иголками.
Лысые головы врагов выдерживают несколько прямых попаданий, из-за чего приходиться очень часто перезаряжаться.
Противники любят забрасывать а) галлюцинаторными гранатами, заставляющими камеру самопроизвольно крутиться из стороны в сторону и б) кислотными гранатами, которые снимают нигде не восстанавливающееся здоровье.
Мехи-экзоскелеты обезвредить сзади и угнать практически нереально, т.к. внимание их операторов сконцентрировано только на нас.
Постоянна сопроводительная одышка персонажа при движении.
Постоянно нужно следить за здоровьем инженера, выданного игрой.
Часто нужно вычищать арены от спрятунов, прежде чем откроется следующая дверь.
Перед каждым заданием надо делать по несколько ставок на бои с "особыми" противниками - правда, только на положительный для нашего героя исход.
Можно ещё нанимать себе помощников вроде бесплатно чинящего броню или конкретных специалистов по уничтожению, но издыхают они быстро и бесповоротно.
Сами ТВ-дуэли ничем не примечательны, их тупо можно пропустить почти всегда, глубоко засев или далеко убежав.
Гладиаторы там совсем безликие, различаются только броней да цветом защитного силового поля.
Крутейшая ракетница - половина успеха!

Может зависнуть пункт продаж, не давая выйти.
Однажды воздействием от вражеского огня героя прилепило к стене, а отлипнуть не вышло!
Необычные идеи у проекта есть, но что до их реализации - ничего вменяемого, как в плане дум, так и самого дела.

Игра не плохая, хотя и были моменты когда хотелось ее удалить. Я сам являюсь фанатом игры Iron Storm и много раз проходил World War Zero кто в курсе тот поймет, и узнав что Bet On Soldier это идейное продолжение вселенной Iron Storm захотелось пройти игру, узнать что же было дальше в этом мире после событий 1964 года. Вскоре я понял что связи с Iron Storm здесь мало, только некоторые виды оружия и тяжелой брони, фракции в игре носят другие названия, игра больше не про войну, а о современных гладиаторских боях. Задумка не плохая, но что-то не получилось у разработчиков, скорее всего не хватило опыта и бютжета. Хотелось еще добавить, на ранних этапах разработки BoS была действительно частью вселенной Iron Storm, но потом концепция сильно поменялась и мы имеем то что есть.
Рекомендую для ознакомления, можно провести пару вечеров. Иди вперед, стреляй, танк уничтожай, бомбу ставь, стреляй, босса бей, патроны покупай, герой войны, жена бросила, злодеи прячутся в тени, конец...
This game is pretty awful.
Too hard yet too easy to cheese. It looks terrible and ran horribly back in the day. The world design is ugly. Characters are ugly. So on, so on...
But it stuck with me from when I was a kid. I think the premise is stellar and a modern sequel or a complete total remaster could end up achieving something unseen in the history of gaming.
Meanwhile it will remain annoying cutscenes before messy bossfights in here.
So positive if you have, like me, nostalgia.
Otherwise it's not worth your time.
Love it, such a silly idea yet really fun. Worth the 95 cents.

Good game, Nostalgic. It has a lot of bugs with which rookies may not go through and so with cannot end the game. But gameplay is really nice and dynamic. enemies are funny to watch, guns and duels are deadly. I like this game no matter what. Gives nostalgia

Стрельба отвратительная, оружие ужасное, никакого импакта, не понятно вообще как пули попадают по врагам, патроны улетают так быстро, что приходится постоянно перезаряжаться в самый ненужный момент. Снаряды (химические, отравляющие, ослепляющие) по врагам толком не проходят, а вот по Вам как за здрасьте. Ракетницей нужно попадать непосредственно по врагу, от взрывной волны никакого толку, только прямо по врагу. Гладиаторы с магнитными щитами, которые можно уничтожить только выстрелив им в спину, никогда не поворачиваются к Вам спиной, никогда, и гранаты не помогают.
Бесящий звук брони и дыхания персонажа, музыка во всех уровнях одна и та же.
Быстрых сохранений нет, только через терминалы, установленные на уровне. Иногда приходится перепроходить очень большие участки, если Вы не сохранились в терминале.
Постоянно какие-то бесячие баги вылазят. На одном уровней перестал работать терминал с боеприпасами - покупаю патроны для оружия, деньги тратятся, а патронов не прибавляется. Пробую в другом терминале закупиться - не, нифига, такая же петрушка.
Напарники вечно лезут на рожон, часто встают прямо перед Вами и перекрывают обзор, и начинаешь палить в них.
Никому не советую в играть в ЭТО!

Старенькая достаточно игра для качественного сведения олдскулов с интересной концепцией сюжета, аналогов которому не найти в современное время. Единственное, игра мне показалась сложной по причине того, что в ней достаточно специфическая стрельба. [spoiler]Снайперские винтовки - маст хэв.[/spoiler]. В целом поиграть для того чтобы отдать дань прошлому можно.

Если вам показалось что я допустил ошибку в названии заголовка, то не торопитесь с таким выводом, но обо всём по порядку. Об существовании этой игры я узнал благодаря записи хайлатера (Joe Peach 69), с декабря прошлого года. А там уже по мимо данной игры узнал что была 1-ая часть [spoiler] Iron storm [/spoiler] которую первым делом прошёл. Если вы не смотрели прохождение данной игрушки от Илюхой, то вы упускаете такую вкуснятину...
Данная игра вроде как продолжение 1-ой игры, но речь не про сюжет пойдёт. Не могу не выделить – то, что в игре какие-то механики сделаны говоря на частоту отвратительно при этом умудрясь скрестить с необычными игровыми решениями (нововведениями если так сказать), но даже с ними имеются некоторые трудности. К чему это я, а к тому, что сделай игру какой-нибудь разработчик, позаимствовав и доработав уникальные игровые решениями из этой игры в свою игру, такая игра заработала бы популярность и выглядела сегодня свежо и инновационно !
[b]Минусы:[/b]
- [u]Стрельба[/u], что можно сказать о ней, вдуууумайтесь только, стрельба в игре с жанром ШУТЕР сделана плохо, не понимаю как или под чем надо было так реализовать стрельбу в ШУТЕРЕ [spoiler] на примере 1-го уровня, если вы выберете не автомат а например снайперское оружие, то вы точно не от мира сего или же просто вы разумист хыч хыч[/spoiler];
- [u]Графика[/u], если сравнивать с 1-ой игрой она выглядит «прогрессивно» а вот с играми-конкурентами вышедшими в тот же год как и данная игрушка, счёт будет не в пользу последней;
- [u]Не пропускаемые катсцены[/u], [spoiler] это как любовь медового и торта [/spoiler], вы не раз будете проклинать разработчика игры, за то что ролики уровня диалогов "Пахома и Братишки" нельзя будет пропустить в моменты boss fight сражений т.к. вы будет умирать или же перезапускать сражения с боссом если вы конечно сохранились.
[b]Не смотря на перечисленные выше минусы игры, невозможно не отметите и такие необычные вещи как:[/b]
+ [u]Платные сохранения[/u] [spoiler]платишь буквально за всё, как в жизни[/spoiler] это будет "приятным открытием" для любого игрока и игра вас заставит забыть про союзников F6 и F9;
+ [u]Броня на главном герое [/u] в игре есть традиционные здоровье и броня. Но, здоровье в случае потери вы не сможете каким либо образом восстановить до 100% в отличии от брони. Зато броню можно чинишь за "кеш" либо проходя игру дальше, появится возможность нанимать инженеров кто бы мог ошибиться за «money», которые тебя на протяжении уровня будут "заваривать" БЕСПЛАТНО.

[spoiler]Это своего рода «легальный чит», но чтоб вы не расслаблялись, разработчики сделали инженеров не бессмертными а значит вражеские юниты их вынесут с удовольствием [/spoiler] она не просто теряет показания как это вам может а например враг может с пары "тычек" снести вам головной шлем или же как пример начать стрелять в туловище, что черевато поломкой уже нагрудной части брони. При этом части брони будут визуально отваливаться от при повреждении. Приведу грубое сравнение, броня - ваша полоска со здоровьем, а здоровье - не восполняемая броня;
+ [u]Боссы[/u], в игре ты можешь выбирать с какими боссами хочешь сражаться. На начальном этапе игры боссы будут не сложными, но вот к середине игры вам надо буквально смотреть кого вы выбираете. [spoiler]Поскольку к середине игры появляются боссы с дополнительными «ультами» в лице особых патронов (кислотные, ослепляющие и отравляющие) это отдельная вкуснятина. Тут то вы будете в роли «водолаза» и буквально нюхнете газы матёрых зэков, а потому выбрать надо внимательно боссов для сражения [/spoiler]. Ближе к концу игры я для себя совершенно случайно узнал, что оказывается у боссов со 2-ым типом защитного поля на спине имеется переносной генератор, которые уничтожив их, вырубаешь защитное поле от пуль (в игре есть 3 типа защитного поля у боссов: синее можно пулями сломать и попустить босса; оранжевое так просто не сломаешь и нужно искать уязвимость в лице генератора либо применять "смекалочку" в лице спец. гранат и прочее; красное там вообще нет уязвимости а только тяжелая артиллерия либо прокаченная рукопашка);
+ [u]Идея битв как телешоу[/u], по сюжету в игровом мире 1-я мировая война вроде как до сих пор идёт и весь мир в том числе организации умудряются делать ставки на этой войне. Конкретно на боссов и победители мутят бабло. Короче интересно, но надо было дожать разработчикам эту тему.
По итогу из всего описанного выше думаю понимаете почему я написал в заголовке Ass, получив порцию удовольствия и негатива в лице "душности" от такой игры, вообще сложно её советовать всем. Одно дело если это игра вашего детства, другое если вы во взрослом возрасте как я ознакомился с таким продуктом. Не всякий захочет заниматься копанием файлов игры и нахождением уже имеющегося Руссификатора текста, так ведь люди ещё пишут о так называемом softlock [spoiler]если я правильно понял, он встречается на последнем уровне, где в одной из концовок ты сражаешься с Хо Шемином и его двумя шестёрками. Софтлок заключается в том, если пойти его сразу вынести с "имбы игры", то не появится непропускаемая катсцена, после которой ты сражаешься с ещё одним боссом. Я с 3-го раза методом пробы и ошибок решил заагрить Хо Шемина, чтоб тот выбежал с площадки к тебе на встречу и уже тогда его вынес, поскольку я с этим "приколом" столкнулся лично и даже после прохождения пошёл смотреть записть стрима "Большой головы" и у него такая же шляпа была[/spoiler]. Короче говоря, ставить патч особого смысла нет, ибо и так можно пройти игру от начало до конца без критических ошибок.

Pleasingly surprised, didn't expect such a unique concept. Got that fun early 2000s fps gameplay. One issue is that the stairs are really slow to go up. Other than that, quite fun!

Одна из самых корявых игр, в которые мне "посчастливилось" поиграть. В ней все ужасно, даже похвалить не за что. Систему сохранений делал просто гений. Бои с боссами - отдельный вид извращения!) Прошел просто, чтобы закрыть гештальт из молодости.)
A shooter that is functional. The Running Man like story sounds appealing but in the end is thin as paper. The technique aged pretty bad. I can´t say anything bad about the gameplay but it´s old. And it looks and plays that way. It far less a triple A game when it came out and today it got even worse. I would definetely not pay the 7,99 for it. On a sale you get it under 2 bucks. For that price you might consider buying it.

Цікаве поєднання ігрових механік: все за гроші (від ремонту спорядження до сейвів), death match з чемпіонами паралельно сюжету, навіть певна нелінійність присутня і цікавий лор, як для шутера. Грається доволі хардкорно навіть на середній складності. Однозначно варто витратити кілька вечорів для ознайомленням з цим реліктом.
2 основных минуса: старая, нет русского языка.

I spent my hard-earned money on this game back in the day and then gave up on it because it was so insanely difficult.
Now I've tried it again and have to admit it's the most insufferable, soulless, buggy mess I've ever played. I can't imagine it was released after great first person shooters like HL2. I feel cheated out of my $60, even now 20 years later. A huge F*** Y*** to everyone invoved in this. Digital Jesters went bankrupt shortly after the release of Bet On Soldier - and quite rightly so.
Bet on Soldierとは、80年以上に渡って続く戦争が民衆の娯楽（ショービジネス）と化した世界で、殺された妻の復讐のためチャンピオンを目指すユニークな設定のFPSである。
ちなみにこの80年以上にわたって今もなお続く戦争というのは、おそらく第一次世界大戦を指していると思われ、本作は塹壕戦の上空をヘリが舞う2002年製の異質なシューター「Iron Storm」の姉妹作である。
破棄されたIron Stormの続編の企画を流用して製作された本作は、Iron Stormの設定と多くの共通点を持っているが、非公式の続編であるとか、共通の世界観を持っているわけではなく、あくまで設定の大多数を流用しただけのエコロジーな新作であり、いわばリブートに近い代物のようだ。
ゲーム内容そのものはアリーナ系の対戦FPSではなく、極めて真っ当なステージクリア型の戦争FPSであり、ボス戦の直前にユニークな演出が入りタイイチの戦闘へ発展する。
ステージ選択画面では戦うことになるボス、装備、仲間となる傭兵の選択が可能で、ステージ攻略中に装備を変更することはできない。弾薬の補充やアーマーの回復はMAP中に配置されているステーションから行い、いつでも任意に使用可能なかわりに金を要求される。本作では敵の撃破で金が手に入り、ヘッドショットや爆発物への巻きこみ殺害といったトリックで追加のボーナスを獲得することが可能。そして装備の購入や傭兵の雇用、弾薬補充やアーマー回復、セーブにさえ金を要求され、何も考えずに散財すると詰むバランスになっている。
ボス戦以外の局面では大量に湧いてくる雑魚敵と戦うことになるが、本作では基本的にプレイヤーと敵との間に性能差がなく、正面からまともに撃ち合おうとすると普通に数で押し負けてしまう。
まるでDX8世代のゲームのように異様にギラギラ、テカテカ光っているグラフィックはテクスチャが手書き風で古臭い残念な仕上がりとなっており、Iron Storm 2というよりは1.5に留まるという感じで、残念ながらあまり見るべき点はない。
正直ゲームとして出来が良いというわけでもないが、世界観のユニークさから一部コアファンの支持を受けているというのも納得できる作品（シリーズ）である。個人的にはこの世界で、Deus ExのようなRPG…とまではいかなくとも、街を散策する非戦闘パートや、一般居住区での銃撃戦などを見てみたかった気がする。
なお、ストーリーのオチは[spoiler]まんまChaserとかあの系譜である。東欧の方々は本当にラストで裏切られて殺されるオチが好きだな…？[/spoiler]
i did enjoy the game throughout my whole playthrough on the hardest difficulty, but there are some things that makes this game not recommended for others.
though i've changed the review to recommended since i have been unable to find a game that replicates it's mechanics so well, even after trying iron storm i think this game had the right balance of difficulty and sense of progression.
this game can be categorized as a trench warfare game, a game where you are making small gains at the rate of 1 enemy per minute, though most of that is because i picked the hardest difficulty, and although i did enjoy sniping every enemy that came across my path, i don't think this would be enjoyable to most people except if you enjoy older medal of honor games or older call of duty game since are similar at times.
this game has a mechanic of gaining money for each solder slain, earning extra for headshots or object kills or simply killing higher tier enemies, this matters quite a bit in the earlier levels but in later levels it was no longer a worry, this game's whole identity kind of hangs around this mechanic with occasional minibosses known as B.O.S soldiers along with a 15-30 second introduction for each fight, these introductions aren't fun to see over again mainly because of the pacing breakup this causes, and you can only skip half of the introduction, the B.O.S soldier battles themselves are time limited, and you don't really lose anything if you run out of time, though if you win you will gain a decent pay bonus, but another thing about these battles is that they can feature enemies with hallucigen gas and flash blind bullets, these halluicigens completely mess with your camera for as long as you are in the gas plus a few seconds after, and the flash bullets completely blank out your screen for a few seconds, these effects also extend to non B.O.S enemies in the later part of the game, not fun to fight against as you can imagine.
this game often takes itself really seriously, its like a double A game trying to act like a triple A game, it really tries to set up this B.O.S program as a big thing but it does somewhat get in the way of the game, this is most obvious in the cutscenes and introductions trying to weave a grand narrative but its a fairly generic plot of revenge, about 30 minutes of my playtime is just repeat cutscenes, the voice acting also tries to sound serious but even though im sure these actors tried their best about 80% of the acting comes off as pretty weak or unclear what people have said, although the voice and environment audio mixing here is good so its passable, the subtitles also get mismatched at times, particularly towards the end of the game subtitles cut a few words at first and then at the final mission actually adding or changing words entirely, possibly trying to retcon what the actors actually said, though this is most likely because the studio itself is french and most of the names and culture inside this game is european.
this game does also make you have to pay for save spots which i think is a pretty cool idea even though making the save spots one time use would have been enough since there wasn't a point where i didn't have enough to save the game.
this game should have gone towards a more war profit explanation for why you earn money since for the game itself is just a regular war game along with B.O.S only being important within cutscenes.
this game is pretty good for a 2005 game, it has all the modern controls like E to interact middle mouse button to scope, and pretty good physics, and for the most part i didn't encounter anything game breaking other than NPC's occasionally getting stuck in their own path (though they are easy to push), even though the NPC pathing in this game is actually really good, their movements are often hard to predict while still being effective at destroying you and your team, and the teammates that you can bring are also quite useful to keep around, they do quite good damage while also taking some damage for you.
there are technically 2 endings for this game although there are only small differences between them, and one of them sends you to and extra hard arena you have to fight through, the main problem with the arena is just the unskippable cutscenes that where added for each set of enemies, and after you beat the game in either ending you do get a choice to go back and fight for the second ending.
there are technically 3 B.O.S games with this game having a subtitle of "blood sport", though since the other games are mechanically identical other than environment structure and probably more story, and since only one of them is on steam, it is fair to judge all three of these games as one, though if the other two games showed up on steam i'd likely still play them, but that seems unlikely since this game doesn't have a subtitle so im only going to be playing it once.
for the current price of the game on steam it does have a decent amount of content and it is pretty good as a trench warfare game but overall i wouldn't consider it worth playing for most people because of these 2005 game standards and occasional unfun mechanics.

War...always changes? Bet on soldier is a broken masterpiece, i had no technical issues with it altough there were a few non-gamebreaking ones. The story of this game is very original it has turns and twists and its really intresting there are 2 choices later in game wich will impact how the story progresses, i wont be spoiling these choices but none of them feel right. B.O.S is VERY hard, and at times unbalanced, even with the best armor in the game you're biting the dust on 2-5 hits so your enemies. The betting mechanic itself is pretty fun they are small bossfights that are on mostly every mission but they are very unbalanced, many champions will have a magnetic shield that you cant have, or some weapons just simply wont harm them but there's aswell a lot of tricks to get past that, unfortunatley even the medium difficulty is pretty hard and sometimes it seemed the game somehow just switched it to the hardest difficulty. But if you get past that all these things you will be left with an amazing game, with good story and gunplay. Oh man and the gunplay is just so great! you will be starting from using guns that fall apart by just looking at them to using weapons of mass destruction that no man should have get his hands on. The atmoshpere is great too, its a world full of impressive tech that's...made from scrap. Nolan Denworth himself is a very intresting character and as im not going to spoil anything he's for sure on the list of my favorite characters. I still cant belive that such a small studio made such a good game 10/10.

Наконец-то нашёл эту игру спустя 20 лет, когда её проходил мой батя, а я интересном смотрел за этим. Этой игре не помешал бы ремейк, ибо механики что есть здесь не используются в новых играх...
Разве что почему-то в Стиме добавили версию 1.0 без официального русификатора. Пришлось качать под пиратским флагом отдельно игру, и русифицированные файлы перекидывать в лицензию. С патчами такая же история
Мир вечной тотальной войны, где два альянса упиваются кровью простых работяг, которые не имеют другого выхода, кроме как отправиться на фронт ради пропитания. Всем заправляют деньги. Каждый убитый противник приносит на счёт сумму, скопив которую можно пополнить свой боекомплект, починить броню, а между миссиями и закупиться. Даже сохранения стоят денег (Не реальных конечно же, таких микротранзакций мир не заслужил). Полевые командиры стали настоящими гладиаторами, которые ради шоу убивают друг друга получая в награду деньги и славу...
Шутер сложный, игра обязательно найдёт способ порвать сидалище вместе со стулом. Но тем не менее пройти его стоит.

Мой самый первый экшен/шутер. Помню как качал её с 4 дисков... Короткая и сложная в некоторых местах, что меня удивило, игра. Хорошая атмосфера, чувствуется что ты на войне и довольно длительной. Графика очень даже хорошая для 2005 года. Сюжет простенький, но всё равно было интересно, что будет дальше.
Сплошная ностальгия от игры. Пожалуйста, обязательно попробуй её, она стоит внимания!
P.S. как работают энергощиты в этой игре, я так и не понял.

玩了70多小时终于通关了此游戏。《Bet On Soldier》是一款好游戏，难度对我来说实在是太高了。除去5小时的闲置时间，足足玩了70小时才把两种结局都通关了。这说明这游戏需要慢慢打，不要着急。游戏每关有很多补给站和存档器，每个存档器只能存一次档，所以要考虑好了再存档。第一种结局选择“Accept”打最终BOSS会比较简单(我选的是最高难度)，第二种结局选择“Reject”的最终BOSS就很难打了。评论区里竟然有简中评论说打最终BOSS要用刀打，简直是鬼扯，我通关下来没有一个敌人是用刀打死的。这次这个BOSS变得更厉害了，简直到了耍无赖的地步，他的紫红色护罩变得更厚，用最厉害的武器打也需要很长时间才能打没，他的枪也很厉害，打中你后会有一团紫红色的光团包在你身上消耗你的生命值，而且掉的很快，距离也打得很远，几乎可以穿屏，离他很远也很容易打中你。最让人不可理解的是，明明护甲值还没掉完你就莫名其妙地死了。还有他可以追踪你到任何地方打你，令你无处安身。我的打法是把他引到二楼有血站的屋子楼道里，正好两间屋子的三道门是开着的，和楼道形成柱形，采用“秦王绕柱走”的战法用重武器和手雷慢慢消耗他的防护罩，直至把他磨死。当然，这也要靠点运气。
这个有人给它添加了副名称叫《Bet On Soldier: Blood Sport》，开始我以为是单独的一个资料片，其实和这个是一回事。其后两部资料片《Bet on Soldier: Blood of Sahara》和《Bet on Soldier: Black-out Saigon》我都通过别的渠道搞到并通了关。
Very good old school FPS, I found it entertaining and original.
The gameplay with the idea of the exoskull armor is cool and allows the player to play with different styles from the hardcore killer rushing everywhere and killing as much opponents as possible to earn money and repair the armor to the complete tactitian playing with support from an ingenior and progressing in the game while being repaired by him.
The good variety of weapons and the old school graphics make this FPS a must play if you want to get rid of your brain for a while and have fun! :D

[h1] Gameplay [/h1] An sich spielt es sich wie ein typischer First Person Shooter aus den 00ern (F.E.A.R., Return To Castle Wolfenstein, DOOM 3 usw.). Wir haben mehrere Missionen in denen wir mehrere Ziele erfüllen müssen. Diese sind total simpel gehalten, meist geht man von einem Ort zum nächsten und tötet alle Gegner, dann erscheint ein Boss Kampf, die sogenannten Champions der Show. Diese wählen wir vor jeder Mission aus (es gibt immer mehrere zur Auswahl und wir können Entscheiden auf wen wir treffen wollen). Zudem können wir uns vor jeder Mission zusätzlich mit Waffen, Granaten, Rüstung & Begleitern ausrüsten. Die Video Cutscenes sind komplett auf Deutsch vertont aber in Game ist alles auf Englisch vertont mit Deutschen Untertiteln was ich sehr Merkwürdig fand. Bei mir lief das Spiel ohne Probleme. Es gibt aber kaum Grafik Einstellungs Möglichkeiten und die Texturen sind an vielen Orten sehr Matchig. Auch die Auflösung kann scheinbar nicht geändert werden. Die Animationen der Gegner fand ich relativ gut. Ich fand das Treffer feedback etwas schwach, man sieht zwar von wo man angeschossen wird aber ich war des öfteren plötzlich tot. Musik gab es Stellenweise und diese war OK

Das Spiel hat einige coole Ideen und Ansätze und es läuft auf Modernen Rechnern auch ohne Probleme. Aber die Grafik ist natürlich total veraltet und es gibt so gut wie überall nur Matschige Texturen. Wer auf Old School Shooter von damals steht wird dieses hier auch mögen. Auf jeden Fall ein nettes Spiel was man in der Sammlung haben kann. Ich würde bei Interesse in einem Großen Sale zuschlagen

Зацепила в своё время, но реализация слабая.
На каком-то из уровней союзников нагибают и становится невыносимо тяжело. ИИ слабый, для такой задумки. Отдаёт старыми фильмами 90Х, как пример "Бегущий человек".

Unfortunately, this game falls far short of its price tag, lacking the polish and stability expected from a high-quality title. Its janky and glitch-ridden performance seriously detracts from the overall experience. Numerous issues plague the game, leaving players frustrated and disappointed. The level design, at times, becomes perplexing and fails to provide a seamless game play flow. Additionally, the introduction to the BOS sequences proves to be an exasperating affair. Moreover, the weapons within the game are regrettably subpar, failing to deliver the satisfaction and impact one would hope for. In light of these considerable drawbacks, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this purchase to anyone unless they are die-hard fans of this particular game.

El juego es concepto es bueno, tu eres un mercenario y subes de rank matando a otros mercenarios es una guerra pseudo galactica mecha n,,azi. El juego esta repleto de errores, se te crashea si haces cosas que no estan "scriptiadas", en la mision 5 no puedes avanzar si tienes graficos full y 60 fps se te crashea la PC. Tendras que iniciar toooodooo el juego de nuevo para elegir otra mision la numero 6. En teoría me quede en un bucle sin poder saber como seguir jugando.
Pesimo optimizacion. para ser del 2005, habia mejores shooters.-

Clássico muito top, recomendo para alguém que ainda não tenha jogado, vale a pena.
"Bet On Soldier" ist ein Third-Person Shooter aus dem Jahre 2005.
Einst waren wir Soldat. Durch eine Explosion haben wir unser Gedächtnis verloren. Also haben wir uns aus den Kämpfen zurückgezogen, eine Frau gefunden und wollten mit ihr ein ruhiges Leben als Farmer führen. Bis eines Tages drei Männer auf unsere Farm kamen, die Frau ermordet und die Farm angezündet haben.
Wir haben nichts mehr, das uns hält. Wir wollen Rache nehmen. Also steigen wir in das Programm ein, in dem Super-Soldaten ausgebildet werden, die dann - wie moderne Gladiatoren - in Arenen gegeneinander kämpfen. Zuschauer am Fernsehgerät können auf den Sieger wetten. Wenn wir überleben, können wir viel Geld machen.
Die hanebüchene Geschichte ist an Dämlichkeit kaum zu überbieten. Es klingt als habe ein hyperaktiver Pubertierender wild Zeug zusammengeschmissen, das er in drittklassigen Action-Filmen irgendwann mal gesehen hat. Mal abgesehen davon, daß die Geschichte kaum Sinn macht, ist auch unsere Motivation zu kämpfen, komplett verwaschen. Wir wollen unbedingt Rache nehmen, aber auch voll viel Kohle machen, damit wir ein cooles Leben haben. So einen niveau-verkommenen Typen will man doch gar nicht erst spielen.
Ich breite meine Meinung über die Geschichte so aus, weil das Spiel die Geschichte extrem ausbreitet. Nicht enden wollende Cut-Scenes mit grauenhaften Texten reihen sich aneinander.
Wenn wir dann endlich zum Spielen kommen, erwartet uns ein generisch wirkender Shooter aus der Zeit mit einigen fragwürdigen Mechaniken. So können wir nur an bestimmten Terminals speichern und müssen dafür auch noch Ingame-Geld bezahlen.
Die Kämpfe gegen die Fußsoldaten wirken wie generischer Standard. Für den Kampf gegen einen Bossgegner, also einen der Gladiatoren, haben wir lediglich 60 Sekunden, um ihn zu gewinnen. Das wirkt aufgesetzt und komplett unnötig.
Wahrscheinlich liegt das Zeitlimit an der durch die Bank unterirdischen KI, die relativ leicht auszutricksen ist. Dummerweise erstreckt sich die Hirnbefreitheit aber nicht nur auf die Gegner, sondern auch auf unsere Begleiter, die wir uns vor jeder Runde dazukaufen können und die auf höheren Schwierigkeitsgraden auch fast notwendig sind. Insbesondere der Ingenieur, der kostenlos unsere Rüstung repariert, wird nahezu unverzichtbar. Dumm nur, daß unsere Begleiter uns gerne mal im Weg stehen und wir die Runde auch verlieren, wenn wir einen von ihnen verlieren.
Ein bißchen was Positives gibt es auch. Das Spieltempo ist recht angenehm casualartig flott. Und wir können sogar mit einem Mech durch die Gegend laufen und ballern.
Die Grafik ist selbst für das Erscheinungsjahr schwach. Die Texturen sind reichlich verwaschen, das Farbspektrum erinnert an langweilige Trennkost. Auch der Sound ist deutlich unterdurchschnittlich und da lasse ich die peinlichen Sprecher schon beiseite. Mehrere Waffen nutzen zum Beispiel exakt denselben Sound, obwohl sie mechanisch sehr unterschiedlich sind.
Vieles wirkt hingeklatscht und unausgegoren. Aber das größte Problem: es macht einfach nicht wirklich Spaß. Sehr schnell wird das dumpfe Geballere stumpf. Ebenso gleichgültig wie man dem unsympathischen Protagonisten gegenübersteht, wird man auch schnell gegenüber dem repetitiven Gameplay.

In this game weapons, ammo and armor are bought with dollars earned by hitting enemies, this is plus and modern shooters should have this. Also, the lore is a plus, unique and refreshing.
And there goes minuses. The plot is shown through static cinematics. Enemies have overly volumnous armor and huge health points, so does the player too, which slows gaming process. Narrow field of view. After throwing grenade weapon switches to previous, which is odd. Mission brifieng interface is clugged and user-hostile. Cannot understand differences among models of a weapon class. Why enemies have energetic fields and player doesn't?
Many game design flaws, I do not recommend this game.

作为老屁股游戏爱好者，便宜贴图和光影（还有便宜的价格）吸引我花蝌蝌啃蜡的钱买了赌命战士。
这款游戏最大特点是要精打细算你的经济，你的存档和修复装备、补充弹药和投掷物等都要钱，修复装备分为修复装甲和修复武器，装甲耐久值掉光再受伤就会扣血，而游戏内没有血包，想要活就得在任务开始前检查好你的修复程度，每次杀人可以赚钱，爆头和场景击杀可以在此基础上加钱。
在武器选择上，多搞狙击枪和霰弹枪，连发武器虽然很爽但是很刮，主要是子弹消耗量大。
而且，不要小瞧近战武器！一发爆头破甲，两发爆头嗝屁，游戏中后期会有敌方大型装甲，而对付这东西的方法就是拿圆盘刀（这游戏的近战武器有点抽象）剁。
这游戏也有可协助你或杀死你的场景互动，你在路上大多数看到的油桶可以先打漏火，再打爆炸。除油桶以外，还有毒气桶和毒气弹，会使你和敌人在其范围内晕头转向（物理），你的屏幕会自动乱转，用不好就送头。
当然，作为老屁股游戏，缺点不少
比方说dead game经典死服，互联网上没服务器，更别说局域网了，基本（在中国的白天）很难有联机体验。
在游戏过程中还有两个队友可以协助你，可以修复你的装备、打架和蹲点，本来这是优点，但是队友总是能从屁股后面吸引出来一堆怪，纯纯火车王。
总之，现在史低价格十分适合老东西们和射击游戏小白们入坑，顺带提一嘴，赌命战士是个系列，还有两部作品可在三大妈上找到，看看你有没有兴趣了，不过，原价入还是算了（所以你上次为什么不29块买《光环：士官长合集》六部作品呢？）便宜射击游戏很多，没必要把bos当作啥神作，总的还是便宜快餐fps

Kupując grę na Steam liczyłem na odświeżenie miłych wspomnień sprzed ponad 15 lat . Mimo upływu masy czasu na wyeliminowanie błędów, gra jest masakrycznie zabugowana. Inżynier potrzebny do ukończenia misji blokuje się gdzieś na mapie. Najemnicy którzy mają pomagać, utrudniają tylko poruszanie się (zwłaszcza przejścia przez drzwi). Poziom frustracji z trudności niektórych starć wobec masy błędów technicznych - maksymalny. Mam wrażenie, że kiedyś, na słabszym sprzęcie nie sprawiała takich problemów i sam nie mogę uwierzyć, że niegdyś tak mi się podobała, że kupiłem nawet dodatek "Blood on Sahara". O braku możliwości pomijania upierdliwych i powtarzalnych cut-scenek nawet nie wspomnę.
Może to nasz (mój i gry) wiek, może port na Steam, ale coś sprawiło, że po latach czar prysł.

Honestly, a fascinating game, but the execution is very, very poor. The gun play is some of the slowest, most boring shooting I have ever experienced. The gameplay loop, game smoothness, and overall gun feel is great. Unfortunately, outside the bet on soldier concept, this game is a shameless half life esque early 2000s game. And it has aged far worse than half life itself.

Loose Sequel to Iron Front. Had some interesting ideas with being able to select which bosses to fight, the armor system and all ammo reloads and repairs costing money. However much of them were implemented poorly. Weapons are very unbalanced, somehow a chaingun can shred an exo, but the rocket launcher barely does anything. As such the only viable combo ive found is the smg, sniper and either the chaingun or warshotgun.
The worst aspect are the late game boss fights and heavies. these guys often have energy shields and self repairing armor (which of course the player cant get). There are even some, including the final boss that can only be killed with melee attacks. it doesn't help that alerted enemies always know exactly where the player is and have near perfect accuracy, yet friendlies can't hit the broad side of a barn making anything other than engineers useless.
Not a bad gum but a very mediocre one. Swallow your mlg wanna be pride and play it on easy to avoid frustration.

Amazing game, after a discounted price
In Bet on Soldier, you fight in a 80 years old war and participate in the B.O.S., a league for soldiers for deathmatches, which people can follow through the television. You chose to do this, because your wife got murdered by 3 people, 2 of them are part of the B.O.S, and you want to revenge her. However, your past is also catching up to you through out the missions, and the battlefield also holds secrets.
I really like the idea of this game. You get a basic shooter, with simple missions, however there is an armor system, which makes you and your enemies hard to kill, different weapons with different damage types, a basic teammate system and loadout management. You need money to get your a loadout, which you can get by killing your enemies, completing your missions and conquer BOS champions. My favorite part however is the B.O.S, because throughout your missions, you need to advance in this league and challenge the champions in a 1v1. Also, the universe of this game is quite interesting, especially the small factions in the war.
However, the game has a lot of issues. Most of the weapons are inaccurate as hell, flame or acid throwers are useless in the game. Teammates are also useless, except engineers, who can repair your armor and shield, but they can't aim at all and not worth the money to get. The enemy AI also quite stupid and the game likes to script them in your face or behind you. The story seems interesting at the beginning, but from the halfway it start to be incoherent.
I would say, this game is more mixed, but somehow its mood gives enough to keep playing it and this is why I can recommend it to give it a shot. Do not get it for 8€, 3-4€ seems okay for this one.
Dated, clunky and arcadey - It's like a strange low budget Unreal Tournament with a frustrating resource management angle to purchase ammunition and SAVE POINTS?? Steam version doesn't support widescreen.
