There is no way to see or roll your Defence attacks. You have to look through a combat log of each faction to see what happen to your units.

A good way to kill time. Wish there was an editor to customize game play like R&D like the board game (heavy bombers, super subs, reduced IPC for units ect}, customize how many IPCs a country has and cost adjustment for units. More countries would be fun like Italy, France. Have a super power option so you can have winning countries slug it out after regular game play. Improved AI for regular games. The regular game can get old with predictable game play.

A very fun game with all of the intricacies that is A&A. Online plays great. Small changes in a couple of the rules are there for the video game, but overall, it is flawless. I have several variations of the board game. Setup usually take a while due to the many pieces. I do like the video game because setup and clean up is done for you. It is a snap. You can get into a game quickly. You can even put down the game while waiting for your opponent to finish his turn and come back later to do your turn. I like that too. I also like that the community and the creators keep the game running in good order. Some games are deployed and never get another patch. This game is still going strong and I will keep playing.

The tabletop game is a old classic for a reason.
This digital version is work fine.
Good value for a low price if you like classic tabletop games.
Could use a better tutoriel for players new to the game.
Works best as online multiplayer. Chats are very limited with is good when you don't wanna chat or hear from all kind of strangers.
Singelplayer mode quickly get boring becourse the AI isn't very good and often makes the same moves.

The dice. THE DICE! They need so much work. They're beyond frustrating, and downright awful. The 70- 100% hit back rate on computer defenders is atrocious. .0001% odds should be just that, but they're the norm every single round. I bring way more units than I need every time, and it still doesn't matter because of the attrition rate. If there was anything else with these mechanics, I'd play that instead, but I like this franchise enough to keep running my head into this wall on a regular basis. I wish this was more than just shouting into the void, and these things would be addressed, but just me prepared for some wild action beyond reasonable comprehension.

Been playing this game at the behest of my husband and his friends and I'll admit I've started to grow fond of it (particularly the music). I've stuck to playing as Russia each time for the sake of simplicity. I just take my turn when prompted and whenever things look bleak, say stuff like "NOT ONE STEP BACK" and the menfolk seem to approve. I wish they'd go easier on me though :')

recommend with SEVERE concern: the computer dice roll is NOT random. It is skewed toward making a closer game. when a country or team is doing well, the "random" dice rolls become increasingly unlikely. I have kept data for the "random" dice rolls and it is clear that "random" does not describe the outcomes. Frustrating that such a well conceived game doesn't adhere to its own rules regarding truly random odds of rolling the dice.

Game constantly crashes, odds stacked against you. You'll spend hours building up a play, just to have the game glitch and not allow it, forcing a reload that doesn't solve anything.

just writing this as i download it on my new computer, this game is incredible i have played for ages on my ipad as well as my old pc and had loads of fun the game is not getting many updates anymore but they recently fixed a bug preventing you from playing on ipad so its not like its dead or anything. would highly reccomend.

The 2nd Edition is only mentioned in the subtext. I wanted to play the original game.

The terriotories habe been changed, the armies placed in the begining of the game vary from the original game.

The gameplay is hindert by to complicated controls.

Whoever wants to play the original, shouldn't play this edition!

For me it is wasted money.

Although it is a nice videogame version this game has several caveats, first of all is full of bugs, black screens, random error messages pop ups... second it performs awful if you play in laptop you have to have it plugged even though the graphics are basic, otherwise you are going to experiment lagging in the animations, and third of all the rng is awful, get ready to get diced and have your matches messed up more often than not, if you want to ladder you are going to get very frustated. I would not buy for full price is not worth it, specially now since the devs have not updated the game in years.

If you play Axis & Allies 1942 Online and you notice that the computer keeps getting good dice rolls, it's not a coincidence - the developers decided to inject fake difficulty by giving the computer unfair dice rolls. They land successful attacks with 70%+ of their rolls, meanwhile you are lucky to land attacks with 20% of your rolls. This is *terrible* game design. The dice rolls should be random, not favored for the computer. I've seen them roll dice for 9 tanks and land 8 successful attacks out of 9 rolls. This ruins the game for me. NOT recommended!

The AI is very poor, and the controls even more so. How poor? Turn 1, Japan attacks a British cruiser with their aircraft carrier. Only their aircraft carrier. M4 and M5 buttons on my mouse apparently reset the entire round. These buttons do not seem to be re-bindable. Not recommended in its current form.

I need an easy mode in this game. I can only win as the USA and even then it took me seven hours to win in this game. I think it was easier for the allies to win actual WWII then it is to win as them in this game as a new player. That being said I kept coming back for more.

It's not terrible by any means, but it does wreak of wasted potential. The AI in particular really needs to be better, and it would be so great if there was more than just the 1942 map. There's just so much potential that isn't fully met, but I can't not recommend it because it does scratch an itch.

I've always loved this game since playing the actual board game during my teen years. I do not like a lot of the changes in the game since the last version, but at it's core, it's still my favorite role-strategy game. I just wish somethings, especially when they aren't broke, would not be changed or altered. Overall, I would def recommend this especially if you've never played the board game or previous CPU versions. Awesome and fun game with a myriad of possibilities, outcomes and scenarios. Check it out!

It is way to buggy and it seems like they wont fix that anytime soon. I counted many cities that I took over and they weren't counting on my score and then I restarted and did the SAME EXACT THING and then it counted. Don't waste your money because this game is too buggy.

Fun but solo play gets stale. A sandbox mode where the player could change starting units, unit IC requirements, territory IC, etc would vastly improve replayabilty.

The AI would benefit from updates as well. For example, as Germany its always possible to sealion by turn 2 because the UK AI doesn't react to player choices.

In the board game, attacks were allowed without a destroyer involved. Also bombers and planes were allowed single attacks without a destroyer being required to escort them. Why would a bomber need a destroyer there?

Solid game for multiplayer only really. Axis and Allies has been a staple game for me and my friends but this newest version isn’t as perfect as past digital Axis and Allies. I wish the special techs like extra long range aircraft for example was available, or a difficulty slider, but seems like not many more updates are coming here.
