I'm so damn confused. I bought AAngel LONG ago - it was good but I didn't play it much due to repetition and ON RAILS.

Recently I see this offered again and multiplayer enlist free? There seems to be 2-3 versions? all with the same name?
Call me stupid but I have over 1000 games and used to be a paid beta tester for Activision (and the mech warrior/heavy gear franchise. So I see it for sale in quest. But I felt I owned it? I looked and I do - STEAM. (old version? updated? new?) all with the same name? So I click play... I'm "FORCED" into multiplayer (specs on steam store say single player/multi?) so I should be able to try something? NOPE - multi only and it said 4 people searching. I tried searching and after waiting minutes I gave up.

So whats the deal? the youtube videos look GREAT - I own ALL OTHER MECH GAMES for VR. World of Mechs, Vox and others. How in the heck do I get into this single player game? Must I buy it on oculus store for 19.95? If I do will I see the same thing I just tried to do? no players? no single player?

Just went to buy it and it says I ALREADY OWN IT????????????????

Voice acting sucks. Story sucks. Designs suck - you really did just make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ looking GM, huh? Might as well just ripped the GM line by line. Also "the resistance" writing, so original and cool. I think they got the budget for this game because it has a black protagonist? Maybe? Though you're technically a lightskin.

몰입감 있는 연출, 모션 컨트롤러를 따라 움직이는 메크의 동작 같은것이 매우 잘되어 있다. 하지만 전투가 드럽게 재미가 없음.
굳이 왜 이걸 로봇에 탑승해서 하는지 의문이 들 정도로 그냥 기관총/로켓 쏘다가 쉴드로 막는게 끝.
펀치도 가끔 길 막는 다리 부수는 것 외엔 쓰이질 않으니...
게임의 연출은 나쁘지 않지만, 사람이 쏘는 기관총만 맞아도 터지는 허접한 로봇의 내구도와 락온과 공격이 제대로 안되는 버그까지 있어 비추 주기로 함.

Very shaky integration with Steam VR / Vive, I have successfully been able to run the game about 2 times out of the 20 I have tried to launch it, often doesnt' recognize controllers, can't start single playe mode etc.. Great potential, but no usable at this time

If you're confused, there are two different games here. One is the old Archangel game, the single player game that was an on-rails shooter Mech game. However, I'm only reviewing Archangel: Hellfire, the multiplayer game that is free to play.

I'll be honest, I haven't had a chance to play MP. I waited 30 minutes and although I saw players online, I did not get matched up with anyone. In fact, for some reason, the search stopped twice and kicked me out and I had to restart my search for a quick match. Of course, there was nothing quick about it.

I'm hopeful that more players join this game. It looks fun. Feel free to friend me.

Rate ?/10. It looks good from the store page. Needs more players!

Looked quite promising at first, but soon, massive dissapointments crept in.
First thing to throw up red flags for me was the error message that greeted me at the launch screen, stating that my Vive controllers werent supported and that the game would launch in desktop mode. In the end, that error didnt really amount to much, as it launched just fine in VR and worked with my controllers. Unfortunately, that relief was short-lived, and upon opening the game I found that the resolution was ungodly low, to the point where text on the menus were almost unreadable.
This, I found out, was a Vive exclusive error, which to this date has not been addressed. A new error has popped up recently, an error preventing me from playing the single player horde mode, again, yet to be adressed.

Overall, this game had tremendous potential and was beautifully polished (from what I could make out with my lowered resolution), played like a dream and was, for me at least, something that felt like a true game for VR.
Its a terrible shame that the developers have seemingly vanished, because this is the first indie VR game I've encountered that doesnt feel cheap and hastily thrown together.

Beautiful job with this game! This is what I always wanted to do in MechWarrior! Very nice! Also, it appears to work perfectly fine with my Lenovo WMR headset and controllers. VR is obviously gaming's future. It's here to stay and it's growing quickly.

The single player experience was pretty good even if it is on rails, those first moments when you move your arms and the mechs arms follow your movement in particular was amazing and really sold the feeling of being the pilot of a giant mech.

The game really shines in multiplayer though, the free movement makes a huge difference and the mechs vary from lighter nimble classes to slower hulking behemoths. A nice touch is the ability to juggle power to different systems to increase shields/weapons/speed/energy to customise your mech to suit your tastes. Controls are relatively simple and within 3/4 games I'd gotten the hang of the basics and was able to compete somewhat competently. The maps are pretty few at this stage but they're complex enough to make various strategies viable and very well designed.

What's harder to describe is how awesome 2v2 battles are. I've been playing since the first Mechwarrior games and this is absolutely the closest feeling to piloting one of those you can have today.

I highly recommend the game mainly due to the multiplayer.

I got a couple of matches in the free demo, enjoyed it and bought it to get more features options.

Movement is good, there are three mech classes, light, medium and heavy with different weapons and abilities.
Havnt explored multiplayer to its full potencial yet but i feel there is a lot of fun to be had there.

So i decided id try the single player campaign.

During the intro when one first gets into the mech i was really excited, you have more precise control over the hands and arms, moving your hands inside the cockpit causes the mechs arms to mimic the motions, you can punch things (missing from the multiplayer i think) and one feels really powerful, i got the VR giggles which i havnt got in a long time.

Then the game starts and you notice that all the control you have is over the arms, guns and shields, the mech walks by itself, singleplayer is a rail shooter :(

Im gonna give it a playthrough but i was dissapointed that single player has no free movement.

Singleplayer looks a bit nicer than the online mode, i cant put my finger on it precisely but i think resolution is lower in the multiplayer variant for some reason, might be a bug.

Update:
Im on vive and i downloaded Methados controller bindnings and made two changes.

Now my controls are as follows:
Left touchpad for movement, click it to jump.
Right touchpad clicks for snap turning.
Grip buttons toggle shields on/off on respective sides.
Top buttons change weapons.
Double click and hold on the right top button recenters HMD position.

With these settings the multiplayer is a lot nicer IMO.

Archangels Hellfire DLC is finally here. With it comes PvP skins, 1-4 player coop arena and most importantly... the PvP gameplay is not free to play for all!

Ok, lets get the ugly stuff out of the way. The 1-4 player coop is basically just a coop wave shooter. It seems to be balanced for 4 players so if you make a private group with 2... Good luck. Video on that coming later.

PvP skins seem fairly simple atm. White vs Black. I would like more customization and more options in general for making my mech my own but skins are a good start. Selecting which skin you use could also use some love as each new skin appears to show up as an entirely new mech. Instead of picking a mech, then picking a skin you scroll through the light, medium and heavy of skin 1, then move on to the light, medium and heavy of skin 2. It's extremely minor but would be a nice QoL adjustment

I'd also like to see loadout customization options. It would make things harder to balance but I'd love to be able to choose how my light mech fights. I'd love to have melee weapons too.

Ok, with that out of the way. Archangel is a good mech game. It's nothing spectacular. It's not the be all, end all of mech games. However it's still good and in the current market with so few mech games it stands out.

One thing Archangel does really well is give you a sense of scale and presence inside the mech. From the main menu to the cockpit I absolutely felt the size of my mech. From stepping on baby choppers to climbing skyscrappers, gazing at the tiny pine trees that make up the scenery or even your own mechs arms through the cockpit, you feel like you're piloting a behemoth.

PvP has gone free for all! That's a business move I can get behind. With VR titles like this that depend on population I usually comment on how waiting for games will drive people away creating a catch 22 cycle that ends up killing the game. With the free to play PvP model that fear should hopefully be mitigated with a larger population that can pick up the game for nothing. You get extra incentive for purchasing in the form of the full story mode and coop arena plus some skins however no PvP gameplay element is blocked off from F2P PvPers. I personally think it's a great idea and hope it succeeds and sets an example for other VR devs suffering from population issues.

Overall the controls felt smooth. Point and click for the most part. I wish boost was more reactive. By that I mean, when I press the boost I want to boost and when I let go, I want to stop boosting. Currently it functions such that you tap the button and you get a set amount of boost time and you cant cancel it early. So if you need a quick hop, you have to do a full princess Peach jump and glide. It makes maneuvering in the air a bit clunky.

In the end, I had a good time playing. The price for PvP is perfect. I won't comment on the 19.99 overall price tag for the story as I haven't played through it yet but it seems reasonable from what I've played.

I only played this game for about an hour at the moment but so far it feels very polished. The graphics are good and look crisp inside my Vive. The voice acting is pretty good and there is a story attached to the gameplay, I know having a real story isn't something everyone cares about especially in a fun VR game but I am someone who needs a story to stay invested in a game. The controls feels comfortable and although I played standing up it seems like it will be enjoyed more if you sat down while playing, preferably in a nice computer chair or recliner so you can match up with your in mech position for extra immersion. The only thing that I have disliked so far is that it basically plays like an on the rail shooter. You do not actually move your mech around, you are automatically pulled along a set path while you look around and shoot the enemies around you. I will update this review after I have sank a few hours into it.

Par contre! Hellfire, l addon gratuit multi joueur, c'est de la folie !!
On pilote vraiment son mech, avec plusieurs modèles possédant chacun des armements différents.
En plus, c'est beau, c'est fin, c'est fluide.

Please, devs, make an Hellfire solo and coop campaign : instabuy.

Don't expect to jump in and start a team based game as you'll be waiting forever for anyone to join. The Devs have not allowed the ability for players to simply drop in alone to expereince navigating around (off rails) instead the Developers ask that you exit the game... join a channel in Discord to team up and then go back into play a session... WTF !! are they thinking ?

At this price one would expect at least the ability to drop into a scene in solo mode.

Till then this game gets a big ass NO GO zone. ( not worth it )

With the Hellfire update, I highly reccomend this game. The multiplayer aspect this adds is amazing - feels like you really are in the mech. Really hoping the Multiplayer community continues to grow on this one.

Devs - please add the ability to add bots to a match! That would really future proof this game.

I will say this the multiplayer was dead which sucks because I was bought this game to play that but found out 6 people were playing it and couldn't find a match so I guess the multiplayer is dead? XD Didn't know their was a campaign so I played that and everything happened so fast I was like wtf is going on? Controls feel pretty cool but overal I'd say it a pretty crap game but with cool features mainly because its a mech game with VR but if they continue to make the game better and the multiplayer isn't dead I might think about buying it again. I paid $30 plus tax which was like $32.35 or something like that but I'd say this game is maybe worth $10 at most tbh because of the experience I got out of it but this is just how I feel about the game as a whole.

After two nights waiting in queue, got into one game, couldn't mute the one other person (1v1 duel?) talking crap for the what felt like 30 minute lobby before the game started, died nearly instantly to some laser beam. Tutorial is 100% text and no gameplay outside of, well, 2 day wait in queue and then straight into PvP.

This could make a good game.

It's polished, it works the single player campaign is on rail and yes it does not make it nearly as exciting as what VR could offer, Sam Serious Last Hope for example is only a wave-shooter but it's infinitely more exciting and fun to play. Don't get me wrong Archangel still fills up the niche for the times when I just don't want to sweat in the Oculus and play chill while seated. The campaign has a good presentation so I am fine with it. The game is not too easy.
The mutliplayer plays much differently from the single player, you can control your movement and hover. You can to manage 4 armor, speed, energy, damage represented by gauges on top of your head by clicking on them

A decent game to chill while shooting steated waiting for next big releases. Mutliplayer seems really good but few people online.

F U C % I N G AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS.....is the only thing I was craving from ARCHANGEL. The rail portion of the main game was an instant classic for all of us who love our mechs but this free roaming gameplay just imbedded this game into my heart (right there with cybernator & mechwarrior from my childhood super nintendo days) & reminds me of "why" I play games. Call me old school when I say I prefer to play alone and envelop myself into the storylines of my gameplay, but a handful of multiplayers are done right and let the devs take a bow as I admit, THIS IS ONE OF THEM! I had the very fortunate opportunity to jump into combat with one of the developers on my first mission and the fun I had was something I hadn't felt since the good old days of going to the arcade and standing next to another random gamer, looking over there shoulder and ultimately deciding to drop our weeks allowance in quarters, hitting the "2 player" button and trying to kick the NEO GEO's ass lol. EXCELLENT JOB GUYS!

Don't start the game at Occulus home, start it from steam VR to prevent crashes.

The MP part of the game doesn't seem to work yet... At least not for me, the game directly crashes after touching the menu.
However I really enjoyed the SP campaign despite of its short length(~3 hours if you read/observe carefully the lore and environments). Haven't seem any mech piloting VR game that fits my taste until this one, especially when they lift my cockpit into the mech's torso, it was really impressive.
The battle has limited freedom because it's not allowed to move freely, you just have to manage the shields and fire back, not that much complicated but it makes you feel that you are like the guy in the Pacific Rim, very engaging.

The Huge Multiplayer Update on May 25 completely changes the game and adds a lot of value to the game.
Now the game no longer just on rails, you can free roam in Multiplayer. Currently only 2 v 2 TDM is available, I was able to get in and have a full match without any issues. It was so immersive that you can fully controls your mech. Jump, turn, walk, shield, switching weapons, look around etc. My young dream of piloting gundam in cockpit somewhat fulfilled.

Of course the story mode is also quite good with top graphics and still worth a try if you haven't played.

This one is really good. It takes a bit to get started since they are trying to have a mech game and also some story. But, it is well worth the time to get into it. At the end of the day it is a rail shooter, but a good one, and the VR really works for it.

Good graphics, sensible controls although I'm entirely too slow with the shields. Maybe a bit more text, and trying to play with subtitles gave me a bit of a headache. But overall its a polished and excellent experience for a couple of hours.

It's a great feeling to drive the mech and use the weapons. As an on-rails shooter it does a great job in taking advantage of VR by making you feel the excitement of the scale. The downside is that there's a fairly large amount of story you have to sit through each time. If you could skip the cutscenes (e.g. by pressing a button), I would totally recommend this because the action is nicely immersive, but as it is now, it fees like you spent a lot of your time waiting, a noticeable disrespect to the user.

I had a blast playing this game. I know some people find the idea of being on rails hard to stomach, but you get over that quickly. Having the game control the general leg movement meant you only had to deal with the head and arms which correspond to the controls we've got. That made it very intuitive. Further, the action is fast enough that you can easily feel overwhelmed in later stages with just keeping up on the number of enemies coming from all sides. You'll be switching weapons on both arms, using shields on both sides and trying to target enemies, missiles and incoming fire alike. In all, it's plenty challenging for fun.

If you've got a VR control set for your computer, don't miss this game. It was one of the types of experiences I was looking for when I paid all that money for the kit.

Reading some of the other reviews, I noticed people complaining about glitches and vr issues. I had none. My Vive controls were right on and didn't require any modifications or tweaks to make it go. Either they implemented a patch that I never saw or this problem doesn't affect everyone.

게임 플래이는 VR 초창기 때 만들어졌다고 해야 무방할것 같습니다. 제한된 공간 안에서 제한된 움직임만을 가지고 플래이 합니다.
후방을 볼 수 없다는게 아쉽지만 그 만큼 전방에 더 많은 신경을 썼다는 말이 됩니다.

Mysterious problem...
Hi all,

I´ve encountered the following problem: The game is running smoothly and everything seems to work perfect. Yet, there is one huge problem I cannot explain: I´m at the point where I´ve received the swarm missile system. Targetting etc. works fine and everything is alright. Then in the following sequence where the big airships attack you with the missiles that you have to shoot out of the sky, I died. Ok, so far, so good...respawning and trying it again. Then I observe the following: When I hold down the left trigger, the swarm missiles DO NOT target anything and the cannon on the right arm doesn´t do any damage to anything either. Consequently, I died again pretty quickly. When I want to press the "continue" sign in the cockpit, in order to restart again, neither the left nor the right trigger is reacting! Interestingly, the side buttons for making a fist do react. So I cannot continue the game.... This happened yesterday and I restarted the game, just to experience the exact same thing once more. Befrore this sequence, everything is running perfectly. Today, the same happened again.
I´ve never had any problem with any VR game whatsoever and I cannot explain the reason for this. My computer is a super fast model with everything on the high end side. I´ve looked in the threads section, but obviously noone has had this kind of problem except me.
Does anybody have an explanation or a possible solution for this? I cannot continue playing this fantastic game.

Eins vorweg: Dieses spiel ist ein Railshooter. Wer sich also erhofft frei mit einem Mech herumlaufen zu können, wird von diesem Spiel enttäuscht.
An und für sich hat mir dieses Spiel sehr gut gefallen. Genau das richtige, wenn ich / man mal nicht wie wild bei einem VR Spiel rumhampeln will. Man nimmt platz in seinem Mech und kann bequem vom Schreibtischsessel aus spielen. Dein Mech läuft dank KI-Steuerung automatisch durch jedes Level und als Pilot übernimmt man selbst die Kontrolle über die Waffensysteme. Dabei hat man an jeder Hand jeweils 1 bis 2 Waffen + Schild an jeder Hand.
Für meinen Geschmack ist die Erfahrung nur etwas zu kurz geraten. Mit 9 Level und 4 Waffen ist man nur mäßig lang beschäftigt. Ich habe nach 4 Stunden bereits das erste mal den Abspann gesehen und habe hierbei gleich bei meinem ersten Durchgang auf "Hard" gespielt (Easy - Normal - Hard - Permadeath). Hätte mir da schon etwas mehr gewünscht. Zwar kann man die Waffen nach jedem Level aufwerten, aber das ändert nicht großartig was an der Funktionsweise (macht mehr Schaden, Mech nimmt weniger Schaden, mehr Munition. Solche Dinge halt).
Empfehle es dennoch. Würde aber vorschlagen eventuell auf einen Sale zu warten, wenn man nicht grade dringend ein VR Spiel braucht.

Archangel is an absolute gem of a game. A little short, but still crazy fun to play even multiple times through. There aren't many mech games out there yet, and what exists doesn't play nearly as well as Archangel does. Plus the characters, most of them anyway, are easy to invest in, especially M1kl.

Excellent mechanics, excellent graphics, excellent story, just all around excellent game. I just hope we can get more story about this intriguing game world in their next installment!

戦車や対戦車歩兵たちをマシンガンでなぎ倒す快感は素晴らしい。
両腕でシールドを発生させて敵の猛攻を耐えているとなんか汁がでます。。

おすすめできるのですが、難点が幾つか。
両手には機体のコントローラが握られているのですが、これが照準の補助にならない。
他のゲームのようにサイトを覗く事はできず、steamVR　homeのような線を頼りに飛び回る小さな敵を狙うことになります。
また、照準点が他ゲーのものより少し上向きに設定されているので、手首をかなり下に向けなければならず手が痛くなる。
肘を引いて脇を締めると手首への負担は少なくなるが、エイム精度とシールドの即応性が犠牲になる。
それでもやり続けようと思える完成度でした。

This game basically is an On-rail shooter, but it does the concept really well. The story is okay, basically it's about a resistance group fighting a big evil army and the one thing that can change the war is Archangel, the mech you are controlling.

Fight through levels, block enemy fire with your shields and unleash your weapons onto the enemy. Jeez, who doesn't like giant battle mechs anyways? The characters were pretty well designed as well, especially Bulldog who'd make me chuckle every now and then.

Speaking of characters, the whole squad mechanic with your squadmates reminded me so much of Star Fox, especially Star Fox 64. They'll help you out, not much but if you don't protect them they'll be out for the rest of the level except for cutscenes with them.

Upgrades for Archangel are also available, the more you destroy the more points or "Combat Data" you gain, a sort of currency to buy upgrades with. I recommend pretty much all of the hull upgrades followed by shield ones, but I like playing defensively anyways.

The game is short, with me just finishing in less than 3 hours. But hell I enjoyed every second of it and the price suits the playtime as well. You could get some more play time by trying harder difficulties and eventually take on the ultimate challenge of playing Permadeath. If they would make an Archangel 2, I'd buy it and it's basically my only criticism that it was short.

A challenging and fun game albeit a bit short but with a lot of replayability. The game has amazing visuals and great immersion. The story and characters are just icing on the cake.

I almost missed out on this gem because of the negative reviews but bought it on sale and I can say that it is definitely worth full price.

If you are even remotely interested in giant mechs and challenging games then you should definitely get this game. I recommend playing it on hard mode for maximum enjoyment.

Overall: 7/10 - Good fun, pretty graphics, and makes you feel like a badass.

Pros: Controls feel natural, challenging gameplay (hard difficulty is actually hard), decent story, graphics look great
Cons: Short, the first few levels are used for tutorial purposes, you don't get all your weapons until you're done with those tutorial levels, unskippable cutscenes are brutal if you need to restart from a checkpoint, enemy attacks are generally not telegraphed well

Archangel is a fun rail-based game. It basically plays like an arcade shooter but with way better graphics. Like an arcade shooter, the story is pretty generic but is passable. I wouldn't pay full price for the game, but at $20 (which is what I paid for) I felt like I got my money's worth. I don't really see the need to go back and replay the game, especially since I started out on Hard difficulty.

The game could improve if it had a StarFox-esque system of choosing which path you want to take or finding secret areas to go to. I'd also like to see situations in the game that don't call for a specific attack or method of defeating the enemies. If Skydance Interactive can fund a sequel, I'd like to see those improvements.

Get it when it's on sale! There are some issues but overall it's a fun and comfortable ride. Sometimes immersion is great but sometimes you just want to sit back and shoot things in VR and doing it in a large robot is pretty entertaining. This is a rail-shooter so expect a linear game. Graphics of the mech and cockpit is solid. The environment and enemies can use some work. But the story with the shooting makes it a fun VR title to add to your collection.

1. For vive users, you need to lean a bit forward to use controller properly. I agree that the crossair position needs to be adjusted, but it is definetly playable in its current stage.

2. Game takes at least 2 hour to complete, and have a 15 mins exposition/tutorial. So when you see reviews with 0.4 hour played, it means they gave up half way through chapter 1.

3. It is a rail shooter because managning shield and varies weapon systems will occupy both of your hands. If that 0.4 hour reviewer played a bit more and unlocked more weapons, he would understand how painful it would be to simutaniously holding up a shield, swithching weapon with the other hand, and also manage movement all at the same time.

cool game you guys made! I found some issues though. When playing with a Vive, the controllers dont line up with how I'm holding my hands. I've seen similar issues in other games, and it was due to the game being configured for Rift controllers. If you could add an option to switch to a vive configuration (rotate hands about 45 degrees) that'd be great!

Also, controlls became unresponsive when I reached a certain point in the game, the juggernaut scene. At first I can fire my weapons, but they dont seem to have any affect, then when I unavoidably die, I cant select anything in the menu (retry/exit) and have to kill the game.

確かにオープニングの巨大ロボット登場シーンは最高でした。
灰色のハンガーにそびえ立つ、どっしりとした存在感のあるロボを見上げた時にはあの映画を見た時の感動が蘇りました。

で、リフトで首の後ろに上がって、スタッフとお決まりの話をして、
さあ目前でハッチが開いた、乗るぞ乗るぞ、この焦らしが素晴らしい。
コントロールアームの装着とか、LCL注水とか、全方位スクリーンのブート画面とか、
ニューロリンクシーケンスとかが来るぞ楽しみだわー

子供の頃から大切に温めていた夢を叶えてくれると同時に
「お前はニュータイプじゃないんだよ」というのを思い知らせてくれる一品。
ええ、Easyでも落とされます。死んだらチェックポイントまで戻されるせいか、ボリュームはすごく感じます。

ゲーム中の演出などが一切スキップできないので、詰まったときにクリア済みステージを繰り返して
資金稼いで機体強化という作戦はあまり効果がありません。
報酬もべらぼうに減ってるし・・・
そんなことする暇あったら死にながら敵のパターン覚えて突破するのが早いです。

スタイリッシュな機体、僚機が3機もいて寂しくない！カッチョイイコクピット
怒りのメガトンパンチで戦闘機撲殺可能、連装ミサイルで気持ちよく対空攻撃、
これで日本語音声対応だったら最高にアツいんですがそれは今後に期待で。

どっちかというとガンダムよりパシフィックリムですが、ロボが好きなら買いです。

巨大ロボの頭部コックピットに乗り、首を振り両腕を意のままに動かし、腕部に内蔵された射撃武器で戦います。
パシフィックリム好きな方はとても気に入ると思います。コックピットから見る腕の造形のゴツさはジプシーデンジャーを彷彿とさせます。パンチで戦う場面もあります。

ゲーム内容としては平均的ですが基本をしっかり押さえていてゲーム性は高いです。正確適確にシールドで防御し、エイムして攻撃しましょう。
シールドは連続して展開できる時間に限界があり、それを超えると一定時間のチャージが必要になり無防備なまま被弾して死にます。無駄なく展開すれば切れることはないですが、最初の内は無闇に展開してしまいます。武器はそれぞれの適正を見極めることで素早く敵を掃討することができます。
左右と正面と上方、広い範囲から敵が現れるので常に周囲を警戒しなければ、ポンポン被弾を重ねてすぐ死にます。ある程度は出現する敵の方角を僚機がナビゲートしてくれるのでよく聞けば被弾を抑えられます。撃たれる前に撃つことを意識するべきです。
難易度設定が4段階で自分はHARDでしたが慣れるなでにはかなり死ねました。
HARDのもう一つ上があるのでやり込みたい方も満足できると思います。

戦闘で得た経験値で機体のアップグレードが可能で、これが攻略し易さの分け目になると思います。ヘルス回りを強化するべきでしょう。武器は対空連装ミサイルの強化が重要です。

自分は２日(４時間)でHARDクリアしましたが、この値段でこの質なので破格のボリュームだと思います。
個人的に特に評価したいのは、プロローグ？で最初基地内の連絡列車に揺られ、ロボットの格納庫の直前で停止してセキュリティチェックを受けてからゆっくりと格納庫に入り、係員に案内されエントリープラグ的なものに乗り込んだあとゆっくりと懸架されロボットの頭部に突っ込まれるところです。
ロボットそのものだけでなくその周辺の情景描写も怠らない姿勢がとても好印象でした。

TDLR: Worth the buy especially if you have more than one person who would like to play through. Acceptable graphics, good interface, decent immersion, though its an "on rails" game meaning you DO NOT PILOT the Mech. Under par voice acting, writing. But -- you are blowing stuff up while in a huge Mech - life ain't so bad!

Descrpition:
- Man the weapons of a 6 floor high Mech in VR. Battle your way through waves of enemies with your AI allies (think allies like in StarFox). Expect about 4 hours of gameplay and there are a few times you will feel satsified by the destruction. Best comparision for this game is T2 arcade version but in a mech and in VR. I generally prefer more complicated simulator type titles, but this was worth the playthrough.

Its only natural to have a mech game in VR. This is really the first one. And its not bad. If you shelled out at least $500 on a VR system, $29.99 is a reasonable price point. Given that VR software is still in its infancy - this title does a pretty good job.

Pros:
- You are in a 6 story Mech!
- Immerision - Thats what VR is all about. From the intro, they do a pretty good job at making you feel as if you are inside the game. The introduction was well done up until the story starts but its not good enough to where you care about any of the characters.
- Interface - you don't control the mech, only the guns, but its a simple interface that divides your attention enough to make it challenging a times (I played though on hard and died a handful of times).
- Simple, fun arcade style destruction.

Con:
- Story: Short, predictable. does not make you care about any characters, BUT it gets the job done enough to keep you playing through the entire game.
- Graphics: They aren't that great, but they do the job and don't burn up your GPU. Keep in mind that the headsets are not very high resolution at this point so devs have to pick an artistic style and go with it Compare to an arcade game in a movie theature back in the day.
- Voice acting: meh at best
- Cannot skip cut scenes if you die and have to replay, but the game is not very hard even on hard so its not that big a deal.
- Bugs: There are a couple of bugs that kick in where you cannot shoot incoming missiles and where you cannot use the game selection menu which is a problem when you die forcing you to restart steam and the game (you will lose progress but they levels or not that long nor difficult).

During my plathough I ran into these bugs 4 times toatl. Annoying but was not a deal breaker and I'm sure they will get fixed.

せっかくVRなんだし生身で走り回って銃を撃つよりロボットとか乗りたいじゃない？という人におすすめです。
まだ一時間程度しかプレイしていませんがとてもよくできていると思います。
プレイエリアも座って両手を振り回して物が当たらあない程度かくほできていれば問題ないようです。
ストーリーはうん、英語ですが見てればわかります、よくある感じです。
全体的なボリュームはまだよくわからんですが個人的にはとてもきにいっています。
移動については自動です、プレイヤーは攻撃と防御に専念ですね。
しっかりと守っていかないとあっさり落ちます。防御重点です。
操作可能になるまでが結構長いですので気長に周囲を鑑賞しましょう。
VR購入から一日目のプレイですがそれほど酔うこともなくプレイできました。
割と三半規管にやさしい？かもしれない？

This game is potentially the beginning of something special. Yes its on rails and yes ultimatelly its just a shooter, but the immersion and satisfaction of feeling like you are controlling a mech is incredible. For those that are saying its to expensive, well I feel sorry for you as I am not quite sure what you expect from game makers these days, maybe you should drop your expectations or better still, try creating a game yourself and see what its like have everybody criticise your hard work. Seeing as im in my late 30's and was around when gaming began and a huge mech fan to boot, this game has fulfilled my fantasies, not since Steel Battalion on the Xbox have I felt more in control of a mech.

Production value is epic in scale and you really feel for the main character and share his anger rage.
Graphically its very good and clearly more than a tech demo
For me the replay value is high
So much is going on when under attack that you loose focus on all the little discrepencies

I play with the Rift and Touch and I can see this type of game progressing in many ways if the right production budget was given to the development team. in future updates or a potential sequel i would like to see the following:

Show the rest of Gabe/Gabby's body sat in the chair
Provide more functionality of the cockpit
Provide actual control of the mech via the sticks and give the freedom needed
Improved detail of the battlefield, buildings, weather effects, enemies
Ability to pick up objects to use offensively and defensively
More noise from the legs/louder stomping when walking to improve the sensation
particle effects from walking when looking down ie; clouds of dust, waves and ripples in water, large splashes, cars/containers exploding when walked over
Defensive abilities; flares, chaffs, EMP pulse, communications jammer,use of buildings to provide cover
Up close 1 to 1 battle with enemie mechs!

SWORD!!! every mech has to have a sword!!!
ELBOW ROCKET!!! ok i can only dream about that one lol!!

Personally I would like to thank Skydance Studios for fulfilling one of my fantasies. As I said above the potential to what this game can lead on to is extrememly exciting and exactly what the VR world needs.

Briefly: great game in VR, you really feel like you're in the cockpit. However, the action going on outside does not seem to be full 3D - I suspect it is the same view sent to both eyes. If you've experienced the rabbit-themed "Invasion" demo video, you'll know what I mean. This doesn't take away from the gameplay very much though, it's a lot of fun and a great shooter. Also, the 'on rails' element is not a negative at all - as another reviewer said, you won't have time to bother with that, you'll be too busy trying to shoot everything. Good game, not sorry I bought it.

这不是随随便便忽悠人的游戏,竟然还有剧情,还有回忆杀

画面上来说,对机甲的细节把握我还是很满意的
尤其是武器切换,可以看到满满的诚意
城市画面略微一般,毕竟受制于VR的影响,你太精细会卡顿
敌人的兵种各有各的特色,不会很随便的重复来用
场景过度稍微有些遗憾,比较生硬.

游戏玩法说简单不简单,说难也不难
怎么说呢,盾牌是有CD和倒数的,所以你切出盾牌的时机要好
不要盲目乱切不关,要用的时候CD,就很尴尬了
武器的切换和使用也有些讲究,特别是自杀式的一定要优先秒
你的机甲是不能随意移动的,你要跟随电脑的操控
这点虽然不好,但也无可奈何,平移吧,头晕,瞬移吧,这游戏就毁了
跟着剧情走吧,无所谓了

总的来说这游戏很过瘾,毕竟有剧情,虽然是英文,但是大致的意思能明白
这款游戏88的定价比其他88甚至更高的游戏良心多了
如果你喜欢这个类型,买吧

Like many said, you cant physically control the mech, this wasn't huge for me but it would have been nice. My biggest problem is the time it took to complete. It's a 2 hour game, and for $30.00 it's not worth it. It looks visually well, but there is not nearly enough game play for it being on rails.

Lack of agency and no presence make this a pretty big miss for me. Not in step with where VR design has progressed to, and a bit nausea inducing as a result. 作为一款射击游戏本身只有4GB左右的大小就足以说明其内容的匮乏。剧情非常的俗套并且没有新意没有剧情我可能更加愿意玩下去说是操纵巨型机器人但其实和街机厅的那类射击游戏没有区别甚至更加枯燥无味玩都是在XX任务地点消灭敌人自由度非常的低玩家只能操控机器人的双手而其他所有的大行动都由电脑控制，给人一种listgame的感觉，并且游戏中的任务指示也非常的不明确特别是光标经常容易将左右手光标搞混贴图材质等除了我方驾驶舱内外敌人和场景的贴图都不是很令人满意。总体上来说值这个价格但也就是这个价格的东西，不是很推荐购买

This is pretty awesome.

At least in the tutorial you feel incredibly powerful; it slacks off a little bit but the game is awesome.

I'll extend my review after I've played more, but so far so good; really enjoying this.

There have been lots of 'omg too cool' moments.

Archangel is a marvellous idea over a weak gameplay. Your mech is just outstanding, great design and details, massive scale proportion. In the intro/tutorial you feel so powerful and the indirect hand control of your giant robot works as it should.

Sadly, this is the peak of the game. Many complained about being on rails: great arcade games are usually on rails, I'm perfectly fine with this as soon as the gameplay is fun and compelling.

In Archangel you have to do four actions:

1) shot with crosshair (60% of your time)
2) to use your shield to block enemy shots (38% of your time)
3) to punch something (1% of your time)
4) to grab something (1% of your time)

It if wasn't for the story and the huge mech, Archangel would be an extremely boring seated shooter. And the story is not that good.

Is it a disaster? No, I don't think so. It very depends on how much you loves robots, I like them a lot but love also good games. Here you get just the robot, at this price doesn't worth for me.

i have only just got the oculus rift and loving every minute of the experiance. just got this game and have so far played one and a half hours on it. and find the game great great action and lots of fun so far cant wait for more games like this. well worth the price

Wow, this is a solid AAA VR Game - Something that is very rare these days for VR games

PROS :
+ Immersive. The sense of scale is awesome. The cockpit thing is cool
+ It has a story, characters, voice acting. The game is well polished.
+ You (finally) got a chance to be inside a huge mech after waiting forever for those Gundam games.

CONS :
+ It's on-rails shooter.

I haven't finished the game yet, but if it's only last for 2.5 hours, then I hope it will get more contents in the future.

C'mon you guys, just buy this game and hope there will be more AAA titles for VR!

其实玩这部游戏的时候，我更多的时候是在想，一部好的VR大片应该怎么拍，才会让观众觉得卧槽，这个电影真的是碉堡了~！？

我觉得今后的导演可以从这部游戏里面获得一些启示，至于游戏性，不用多说了买吧，算是VR游戏里难得的佳作了，没啥选项不用纠结上来就感受，开干，开打就行了。如果你英文不错，听力也不错，更是不要错过。

If I would have known that this was an on rails shooter before I bought it I wouldn't have bought it,.. but in saying that I'm glad I didn't know because for what it is, this is a pretty fun game. Graphics are great, minus the fact that the environments and city scapes feel a bit under whelming because they seem to be lacking detail. the motion capture for the players son and voice acting is pretty great. They do a good job of giving you a narrative that you actually can get into and give you a reason to play. I'm not the greatest at this kind of game so even on easy I have plenty of challenge. At first I was bumbed because I couldn't really control anything but my arms, guns and sheilds,. but for me at least it gets intense enough that I am glad I don't have to worry about anything else. The way they do the AI for the mech it makes sense that you aren't in control of manuvering. I would like to have more Haptics,.. something,. like maybe to make you feel the rumble of the ground since you are walking around in a 6 story mech,. and maybe more with the guns and and being hit by enemy fire. it feels a bit empty in that reguard. I also feel like the 30 price tag is pretty steep for what this game is. but I'm guessing that is due to the production values which are pretty great compaired to many VR games. So I give this a 3 out of 5 stars and reccomend it for folks looking for some casual shooting in a game where you can sit if you like, even though I still prefer standing. If you want a deep, involved mech sim then DO NOT buy this game because you will be pretty dissapointed,.. probably even pissed off.

An AAA on-rails shooter with an enjoyable story and solid voice acting, gameplay, and graphics. It manages to be engaging in spite of being on-rails by virtue of all of the above and the fact that the core gameplay is surprisingly refined for what it is.

It's not particularly deep but it is enjoyable and would probably shine at a VRcade with a hydraulic chair/haptic vest. My only real gripe with it is that there doesn't seem to be a way to change the graphical settings (supersampling would be fantastic).

Just a pretty Waveshooter with a simple upgrade system, only difference to other wave shooters is that it does not involve roomscale, so you can only block with a shield.

AAA Title. Very Polished. On Rails shooter like no other. Very well presented. Excellent story and commentary. Scale is immense. My only criticism, too short. Main campaign took me 2.5 hours. But I loved it so much I’m going back for another play through on harder difficulty, this is awesome. 6700K - 32GB Ram - 1080TI - Running SS 3.0 : smooth as and looks amazing. My New VIVE demo game. I really wanted to give a neutral rating but there isn't one. Don't get me wrong Its a fun game to play.
When you stand below the mech and look upward, you will be overwhelmed by its size.
The loading sequence is realistic and believable...I am fully immersed...the only thing I felt negative about this game is there is absolutely no freedom...you are an actor in a movie on rails from beginning to end...like riding in a universal studios ride, you just look around and just pull the trigger.....There is a free game called the War Robots VR: The Skirmish ...heck you play with a keyboard and a mouse...but I gave it a high recommended rating because it felt real and more interactive with freedom of movement. I wish the developers of Archangel chose that route...

You can tell a lot of time and effort has been put Into this game even the intro was a wow factor, I love the world environment really feels like you are in a big mech especially with the controle of the huge arms each side of you..The only thing I could really pick at the moment is the sound of the guns could be a bit louder..other then that runs really smooth on my 1070

This game has great graphics, voice acting, story & gameplay. There are some things to upgrade as you progress and I can imagine the story gets even better. This is a seated shooter on rails and it's a blast. I hope they add more content to this game eventually due to the price point and I saw someone say it took them 2.5 hours to beat it on normal difficulty. I still think it's worth the price because this game is AAA quality.

Only con I can think of is that you cannot adjust any graphics settings which is why the minimum and recommended specs are higher than other VR titles.

Начало игры многообещающее. Робот сделан здорово и графа неплохая, а находясь в кабине управления прямо стул подгорает в ожидании козырного геймплея.
Не тут-то было. Вся прелесть заканчивается когда начинается основная игра. Это просто тир, причем очень детский. Денег на графику хватило видимо только для ангара, а все остальное выглядит убого.

Все что вы можете - это стрелять по светящимся силуэтам крохотных человечков, нелепым танкеткам, и самолетикам аля из будущего.

Дизайн уровней коридорный, а перемещение меха строго заскриптовано.
За пару пройденных уровней не увидел даже намека на свободное перемещение хотябы в будущем, да и куда перемещатся в коридоре?

Эта игра даже рядом не валялась с MWO(MechWarrior Online). У них столько же общего как у велосипеда с грузовиком.

Многие инди-игры на порядок интереснее. Если у вас есть ребенок дошкольного возраста, игру можно купить для него на распродаже, в противном случае не стоит терять на нее время даже бесплатно.

Inizialmente ero esaltato all'idea di mettermi alla guida un bel robottone giapponese.

Poi una volta entrato nel cockpit ho fatto il tutorial, la prima missione della storia e a metà ho mollato...
No! Un altro shooter dove puoi solo agitare le braccia per sparare o colpire con i pugni i nemici.

In Questo gioco, non hai la libertà di fare nulla! è un tour guidato!

Non puoi scegliere in che direzione camminare, in realtà il robot cammina su dei binari. Personalmente mi aspettavo un gioco con più libertà d'azione e sono rimasto deluso perchè prometteva bene.

La parte grafica è di buon livello, questo vale anche per le animazioni e la parte audio, ma in definitiva rimane il solito shooter con un prezzo troppo alto.

- a little short, 2.6 hrs is what it took me to see the credits on mormal difficulty :(

It's shooter on rails, but wait to judge this game. The sense of scale in this game is just phenomenal. Gameplay is pretty simple, but you'll be amazed by the feelings this game can give you. Haven't felt anything like this in VR until today. My expectations are exceeded.

We live in times where you can feel like you're actually sitting in a giant mech, while fighting bad guys, and this from the comfort of your home.

PRO
- presentation, menu and in-game interface are high quality, they got AAA written all over them
- music, sounds and voice acting are excellent
- the cockpit and mech arms are really impressive!
- the graphics of the surrounding world are good enough (would have loved even more detail)
- a built-in story to keep it even more interesting than just shooting around
- so far, during my short play (approx. an hour), I encountered no bugs whatsoever
- multiple difficulty settings and even a permadeath option
- no need to fiddle with settings : everything is perfect right-out-of-the-box
- plays with motion controllers
- it's a seated game (for people that think we already have enough standing games in VR)

CON
- it's on rails, so people expecting to move freely with the mech can possibly be disappointed
- as mentioned previously, the surrounding world could me more detailed, buildings don't have a very realistic look
- the menu doesn't have a quit button
- I don't think it's possible to grab or hit airplanes with your hands or fists
- sometimes a savepoint can be unforgiving
- it's a seated cockpit game (for people who love playing standing and dodging physically this can be disappointing)

If you like more or less casual games where you don't have to think too much, shoot around, enjoy the graphics and music, games that make you feel like you're in a mainstream action movie, then this is it. Think 'Gunjack on earth' with a story.

If you like your games dark, twisted and smart with an intriguing and original story, or you're looking for VR games that are more physically challenging, this might not be for you.

Bottomline : excellent mindless (seated) shooting entertainment on rails for dads and sons :)
