This game has a surprising story to go with it that hits with an unexpected emotional punch.

You start as a college dropout somewhere around 1993 with a run down laundromat and slowly convert it to an arcade. The business sim part of it isn't overly deep as you don't have to worry about utility bills and things like that. The story is linear, but a good one. There's a lot of "annoying" tasks you have to do (though I suppose you could choose to ignore those if that's your play style), but completing stages of the game and buying upgrades can make a lot of those tasks mostly go away.

Where the game really shines is that you can play every game in your arcade. There's a version of many of the really popular classic arcade games that were played in cabinets back in that era. There's even a version of Pong if you're from a slightly older era. Also some non-video games like darts, billiards, and air hockey. No pinball, but I understand you can add that with a DLC.

The day to day running of the arcade/laundry consists of a series of mini-games. I found it very compelling and played little else over a long weekend until I finished the main story. I bought at a steep discount during a Steam sale, but it really is worth full price if you like classic arcade games, an arcade environment circa 1993, or just enjoy hanging around a scuzzy laundromat circa 1978. This game does not help you balance your gaming with your real life laundry responsibilities though...

How has this got positive reviews?! I played 12 minutes and got hit with game breaking bugs! I was trying to empty the hoppers for the arcade machine and it started an arcade game. I couldn't back out of it and the arrow marker for the hopper was partially blocking my view. I opened the settings to look at controls to back out of the arcade game and the menu widget got stuck on my screen! I could close pda, move the camera about and move the character on the arcade game but widget was still stuck. Exited with ALT+F4 as I couldn't access the menu again and now have to start a new game.

Max Fov 60 + the fact that the "splitscreen co-op" part of the game is consisted of 2 games the rest of the ENTIRE GAME aka doing litterally anything else is single player. refunded instantly because these games in single player get old and boring after 10 hours.

A fun and cute game, but too sloppy and janky to recommend. At least on PC. most of the games are clearly not designed for PC controls, and there have been several times where the game got stuck between a pause screen and soft locked which forces you to restart the day. The games that do work reliably tend to control awfully too, dropping inputs and making it generally unpleasant to play. If you do buy, dont unlock the glasses upgrade. It doesnt make it easier to pick up trash like it says. You cant turn it off, and it just makes you zoom in, even when playing games, so you'll zoom into the screen and make the game unplayable. The devs have responded to all these issues on the community tab back in 2022, so dont expect anything to change.

Genuinely this is a wonderful game. It's not a business sim in truth, but it also is-- it is a vehicle for an intriguing story. It is a vehicle for wonderful little games to play with their own fun little mechanics and tricks. The voice acting is great, even if only one person ever talks to you lol.

I have already put 51 hours into this game and the ending genuinely made me emotional as someone who struggles to be more than expectations. I adore this game. And I hope to see what else nosebleed interactive makes in the future.

I'm already going to recommend the game because in the first 97 minutes of playing Arcade Paradise, I probably experienced all of the emotions EXCEPT anger. I was a sucker for arcades as a child and I'm so happy that this game is in the bundle with The Coin Game because both are hidden gems!

The "customers" teleport like there is no tomorrow and I, personally, find that extremely amusing. They also get really pixelated the closer I get to them, if I get too close they will vanish into thin air.. So I guess you could say they don't get in the way! xD As someone who played Weed Shop with my partner, the "customers" from both games remind me of each other which makes it even more funny to play. There are sooooo many ignorant people projecting into the reviews and saying the dev "trauma dumps" in the game... they don't so I wouldn't let those reviews fool you! It's almost like they have never heard the concept of a "back story for a video game".

I'd also like to add that the story does not bother me, it makes me laugh at times but I am mostly worried about the laundry and arcade machines rather than the ongoing story but that is just part of the fun! I plan on playing more of the game and maybe adding more to my review/writing it again to include more detail but so far, I've only bought two arcade machines in a week so we will see what happens next :D

EDIT: After 9 hours of gameplay and finding the secret code, I'm all set! It will continue to get better with each upgrade I buy (: I have made so much money it isn't funny!

Scratched an itch I didn't know I had, was pretty cool to build an arcade up and everything. Its a fairly linear progression, its not truly a management game, its closer to something like a cozy game. All you do is get money to buy more machines and buying more machines progresses the game. You have your daily chores and you make money from doing the laundry and picking up trash, and once those are done you can spend the rest of the day playing games, more time on a game makes it more popular I think, but also completing the goals for each game makes it more popular. There are some back and forths with npc's with high scores on some games. It's a great game to just play to relax at the end of the day. I exlusively played it on Steam Deck, and it runs fairly well, was my go to game to just play while on a trip.

All the arcade games are much worse buggy ripoffs of classics. Additionally, alerts and your watch are constantly popping up on screen blocking your view.
The upgrade currency is locked behind daily challenges that are also buggy or unobtainable in your current gamestate.
Every chore mechanic is excessively obnoxious just to urge you to farm upgrades in order to negate them.
I accidentally got extremely good leaderboard placements in nearly every game in just a few tries because everyone else gave up immediately. I'm #8 in the pacman ripoff, #11 in the crap racing game. As well as plenty other #20s,30s,40s, and a #80.
I have to assume the target audience is single mothers or something.
$20 base price on steam PLUS dlc tip is absolutely diabolical.
Take it from me, there's a reason this game is constantly filler in key bundles. If you redeemed a key probably don't even bother with this one.

Sadly this game would be mid at best... if it wasnt for the CONSTANT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and moaning of that pretentious cow of a protagonist wich makes this game basically unplayable.

As for the games """"plot"""" - It's a tragic tale of a 19-year-old business major dropout! Truly, Shakespeare himself couldn't have penned a more heartbreaking saga of parental oppression.

Ok we get it, The devs clearly had some *deep* childhood trauma, and wanted to vent how much they hate their father for not allowing them to play video games and listen to rock music, terrible fate really...

Then again nothing says "storytelling" like projecting your childhood tantrums onto unity assets, But hey - here’s a wild thought: if your therapy/vent session IS the video game, maybe dont publish it. Would've saved us all the cringe.

And those arcade ""games""? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ - Nice graphics, yes, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ - they are not "arcade" nor are they "games".

This is going to be a very odd review for me to write, considering I am saying yes to recomending it. On the one hand, I very much enjoy the premise behind this game. Taking a laundromat and secretly transforming it into an arcade is a really unique Idea. Being able to play the actual arcade cabinets is also a really great idea, even if some games are just reskins of classic arcade games. But what kills this game for me is my own personal undiagnosed OCD. Cause the laundromat portion, you have to do peoples laundry, so you only realistically get a minute and a half at times before you have to move the laundry, or you don't make as much money from it. I know the whole point is to focus on the arcade more at one point and completely ignore the laundry aspect, but again my personal OCD won't allow me to do that, especially considering you lose out on money by ignoring it.

The game is not bad by any means. It could very well be I am playing it wrong, I don't know. Maybe i'll come back and try again through a different lens. But for me, it's gonna be a pass for awhile.

Is it the best business sim?

No.

Is it the most ground breaking story?

No.

Is it perfect?

Hell no.

But It does something utterly remarkable that so few games do: it becomes more than the sum of its parts. The story informs the business sim, the business sim informs the arcade mini games, the arcade games inform the story, and it keeps you playing and engaged. It's fun, long without dragging, and has charm, passion and love in spades.

I was expecting a standard business sim to kill a little time. I got a lot more. If you think it looks good, go for it. You will not be disappointed

This is such a chilled game! It nails the time period for when the old arcades were THE place to hang out. Great soundtrack, good graphics and a storyline that's not too corny. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for something to kill time, and reminisce about their youth. Fun retro vibes. 8.5/10

It's a fun simulation game, very simple, not too difficult. The only thing that I have to say that is a negative is that it seems to get stuck on the gum mini game when cleaning up. No matter how many times I hit red on the meter, it gets stuck and won't complete the mini game.

I was really enjoying this game until about the 10 hour mark. Yes, it wants you to do chores instead of playing video games, but I didn't even mind that at first. What really bothered me is that as you grow your arcade, the chores get super overwhelming. Hoppers fill up within minutes, when you have 25 machines, 2-3 can break down in a single day, etc. You're always running around, cleaning up gum or fixing the toilet.

The game offers an upgrade system to make some of this suck less, but it uses a different currency than what your machines earn. The problem is that currency (GBP, paid out by your father who is temporarily residing in the UK) is severely bottlenecked. You can earn money from doing random daily tasks, but the amount you receive is a pittance and you only get 3 a day. Some of them are bugged, some of them are for games you don't even like (while the first few dozen or so games you can unlock are decent, later ones such as Championship Darts clearly suffered from a lack of ideas and poor execution). The max you can earn per day is, I think, 75 pounds, and that's assuming you get 3x25 GBP tasks. That almost never happens. Most days, you'll get 3x10 GBP. Some days, you'll only get 2 tasks because one of them is already crossed out even though you haven't done it and you don't get paid for it. I assume those are bugged ones the developers disabled, but don't worry, there are plenty of other bugged ones that don't get that treatment.

Several of the upgrades, including some of the most critical ones, cost hundreds of pounds, meaning you have to spend multiple in-game days trying to earn enough for them. There are some gag upgrades, too, that don't do anything but waste your secondary currency, like the glasses. All of that adds up to multiple hours of frustration due to bugged tasks, tasks that are so hard they're not worth it, and still having to do the massive amount of chores that will constantly spring up throughout the day and distract you.

You can unlock goals by playing the games, which allow them to earn more money, but several of those are also bugged and a complete pain. Eventually I got tired of pretty much all of the games because they're about as deep as a paper bag. You can't really focus on anything anyway since your watch is constantly going off.

I forced myself to make it to just over 15 hours and can't take it anymore. I don't particularly like any of these games now. I already finished the ones I actually like. All I'm really doing is coming in to work, checking the daily tasks, doing any of them that don't suck out loud, and then waiting around until 4 PM to leave because if you leave earlier than that your dad gripes at you. It just stopped being fun. I scrimped and saved GBP to hire someone to empty the hoppers for me (one of the most expensive upgrades, but it knocks out a LOT of the tediousness) and by the end I just hated everything about this game and am leaving it unfinished.

A really enjoyable casual management game filled with personality and an addicting gameplay loop. Nothing sophisticated in terms of mechanics, it's more of a relaxing zone-out type of experience. Out of the many games like Arcade Paradise I have played, this one has stuck with me the most.

Game is fun for a bit but has some annoyances that keep getting in the way with some minor nitpicks.

First of all I can't believe that you're charging dlc for some new arcade machines, The coin game just straight up adds new areas and machines as free updates and I recommend that game over this one. If I DO ever end up buying the dlc it will be because it's on a discount during a steam sale or something.

You can't skip the intro. There is a piece of trash that I can't seem to get off the floor but it goes away after I do the first upgrade. This seems like a weird bug that's been known for awhile that could have or should have been fixed by now. Tested on several computers. Every time I want to go and place machines, it auto sorts all the machines to the very top and the dumb hand ui for selecting each machine covers up the name of each machine so I can't even see the name of it. Also can't wash hands after cleaning the toilet lol

No but seriously, every time I quit to desktop through the in game menu, when I go to relaunch the game I can't play it and the ui for the menu options don't come up, so unless I alt f4 the game, I have to restart my pc after playing.

I am still enjoying myself a bit, but as others have pointed out when we get interrupted to leave a game to throw a load in, the machine we were playing on doesn't save your progress so you start over for most machines. I am hoping that by the time I get to end game that I don't even have to worry about washing machines since I'll hopefully by then just be making enough money from the arcade machines themselves. This review is based off of the early game, not later game.

For starters, no hate to anyone that likes this game and enjoyed it, and I'm glad you were able to.

This is a simulator game in name/tag only. This lacks nearly every single feature and mechanic you would hope to see if you enjoy that genre of game. In reality this is a game made for people who enjoyed and went to arcades a ton as a kid and that's pretty much it, that's the only person I can think of that's is going to like this. Arcade paradise takes the term casual to the extreme with almost no depth to it at all. This is just a game about walking into an arcade and then playing those arcade games. That's IT.

There is no design/building/customization. Yes you can get some expansions for the arcade. You can buy cabinets and place them. but that's literally it. You can't design or decorate or build the arcade of YOUR dreams. Everything is preset and done for you. Placing arcades isn't done like any other simulator game as you just pick from a set of pre-determined slots to place the cabinet, with "special" machines not even having that. So if you're hoping to build the arcade of your fantasy don't even bother.

I guess if you consider picking up trash, plunging the toilet, and ordering cabinets as management then you may disagree but for me that is so bare minimum that I wouldn't even call this a management game. There are no employees or special aspects of running a business at all. You can't plan a gaming tournament or special event, you can't branch out and offer food or snacks. For me every aspect of this game felt like it had the bare minimum of effort put into it. Anything you would expect in a game labeled and advertised as a management game is either missing or so surface level that it feels more like a couple mini games crammed in there.

The laundromat aspect is actually the only part that makes it feel like a simulator/management game as you actually have things to do, but it is extremely tedious and boring. You will only do this for a short time before getting sick of it and ignoring it completely. Once you've bought the first expansion and a few extra cabinets you'll be like... "what laundromat?". So the entire premise of the laundromat and how it's tied into the story doesn't match up with the game. There is no way people drawn to a game about running your own arcade will enjoy any of that. So it was a total waste of dev time building the game around it.

Just let us build and run an arcade the way we see fit, while also letting us play all the games we want, that's all it needs to be, ya know?

Your character and "the story" are hilariously bad, and for me completely unrelatable. It feels like a Mockulatory depiction of a spoiled teenager that thinks they know everything, at first. But it isn't, because it's also written so that your character's father is indeed a complete moron and the know it all 19 year old is here to show dad how business is done. Correction, show your already extremely successful businessman of a father how to run a business. Because we all know this is exactly how real life plays out on a regular basis. I mean who hasn't heard the old story about the teenager with the wisdom, foresight, and experience to outwit and overshadow their parents the second they graduated high school? *Eye roll*

The only person this story would appeal to is an actual 19 year old who's biggest issue in life is how totally lame their parents rules are lol. Anyone mid-20s and older are going to cringe so hard at this storyline lol.

The NPCs... are... just...wow. It will be hard to describe and to make it even worse the preview videos DO NOT show this AT ALL and that feels a bit manipulative. The NPCs are totally static and for whatever reason the dev decided to turn them into a freaky horror show of nightmares too. When you get close enough to an NPC it pixelates and distorts, and if you get closer the NPC will vanish. If you aren't warned about this is feels like the game is glitched and about to implode on itself or something because it's so weird and freaky and out of place. It feels like something you'd see in a horror driven detective game who's trying to imagine the past and discover the mystery or something. It's weird and unnerving and completely ruins the atmosphere of an arcade. I really, really, hate the NPCs.

The arcade games themselves were also a disappointment for me. Though I am willing to admit I might have been expecting too much in this regard. It's a ton of puzzle games, match 3, etc. There are all different kinds of games, and some classics too like air hockey. But the games feel very puzzle heavy. I also just found them all too silly or basic to actually make me want to complete the goals on them. (Not to mention a lot of the cabinet goals are insanely grindy.) I do like that you can change prices and difficulties like real arcades but I really wish there were better games than the ones I saw. It's also possible there are better games hidden behind DLC or cabinets I hadn't progressed far enough to unlock yet, but if you don't have anything that I like or enjoy after the first 5-6 hours why would I expect the next 5-6 hours would be any different?

One thing that might have saved the game for me is if there was an in depth cabinet system where you could make and design your own cabinets, work on them, etc. But there isn't. There is something where you can debug a cabinet but I never actually got to do that as I never saw a way to do it, so I don't even know what that is. But there is definitely no cabinet repair system, no custom cabinets, nothing with any depth to it.

If you're here because you want an actual simulator/management game then pass on this as there is nothing for you here at all. If you're someone who loved arcades as a kid and you just want an experience of walking into "your" arcade and playing lots of arcade games then I could see you being able to look past the issues and have some fun.

Initially a quite interesting time-management game, but the longer it goes on, the more it trivializes those elements in order to slide into a collection of bespoke arcade-style games couched in a framing device that imposes an odd time limit. Still quite fun, but a game that will initially peter out into losing its shine rather than one that will end on strong note.

a game about doing chores in a laundry to get money and buy more arcade games and can play those games while waiting fo chores complete. But when out for chores, those games don't save or keep your progress, have to start all over again. And yes, character can faint if staying too late in the laundry, so finishing a game is impossible. 10/10 design.

Arcade Paradise is a surprisingly layered game. On the surface, it’s a laundromat and arcade management sim, but underneath that it’s really about building up your own personal arcade filled with a mix of original and retro-inspired cabinets.

I found the laundromat side of things a bit bland overall, but after an hour or two you can mostly ignore it and focus on running the arcade instead. Once that happens, the game really opens up. You can spend entire in-game days just playing the arcade machines, and some of the games genuinely surprised me. Although retro cabinet inspired, a few of these games felt fresh in terms of mechanics and level design, which really caught me off guard in the best way.

The controls feel solid, and the game runs great on the Steam Deck. It’s well optimized and never gave me any issues. I picked up an Arcade Paradise game key for just over a dollar, and at that price it’s an absolute steal. Honestly, even at full price, Arcade Paradise feels like it would be worth it.

A really nice idea to start with a laundromat transforming into an arcade while going with a story.
The first hour I got really game sick. After adjusting the FOV it got a little better, but still can´t play a lot of time in one session. I still like that game and will go on playing from time to time.

Arcade Paradise is essentially a "rags-to-riches" story, if the rags were soaked in industrial-strength floor cleaner and the riches were made of 1990s neon and 8-bit nostalgia. You play as Ashley, a bored teenager whose father—voiced by the legendary Doug Cockle (Geralt from The Witcher)—has handed you the keys to King Wash, a depressing, grease-stained laundromat. Your job? Wash the city’s dirty socks. Your actual plan? Secretly rip out the washing machines, install arcade cabinets, and turn the place into a neon-soaked temple of gaming that would make a 90s mall rat weep with joy.

The gameplay is a brilliant, satirical tug-of-war. During the day, you have to do actual chores: pick up trash, scrub gum off the floor, and unload the dryers. It sounds like a punishment, but the game turns it into a high-stakes race for cash. Every load of laundry you finish gives you money to buy more arcade machines. I found the progression to be hilariously addictive; there is a genuine dopamine hit in realizing that if you just scrub one more toilet, you’ll finally have enough money to buy the knock-off version of Pac-Man.

The real magic is that every arcade cabinet you buy is a fully playable mini-game. There are over 35 unique games ranging from pixelated racers to rhythm-action puzzles, and each one has its own challenges and high scores. As people play them, the machines earn more money, allowing you to eventually kick the washing machines to the curb entirely. It is a management sim where the ultimate goal is to stop managing and start gaming. The transition from a gray, humdrum laundromat to a vibrating, thumping arcade is one of the most satisfying transformations in gaming.

Visually and aurally, the game is a love letter to the era of dial-up and cassettes. The sound of a coin dropping into a slot, the glitchy CRT screen effects, and the original synth-wave soundtrack create an atmosphere so thick with nostalgia you could choke on it. It’s a game that respects the grind but understands that we’d all rather be setting a high score than folding someone’s oversized sweaters.

9/10. It is a quirky, funny, and incredibly clever tribute to the coin-op era. It proves that with enough elbow grease and a blatant disregard for your father's business model, you really can build a paradise in the middle of a laundromat.

I saw this game back when it released, but I waited before playing it. Now that I finally tried it, it actually surprised me in a really good way.

The whole game feels like you’re slowly unlocking a huge mini game center. Technically it starts as a laundromat simulator, but I personally didn’t even care about that part — I barely used it. I just sit in the arcade, throw trash away, play machines, and wait for the place to grow.

[b]That’s what makes it special.[/b] It’s simple, chill, and weirdly satisfying without forcing you to rush or min-max anything.

The atmosphere is also very unique — the music, the vibes, the retro feeling, everything comes together really well.

A game about games.
pretty much everything you do is some form of arcade mechanic. From doing laundry, picking up trash, to even putting money in the safe. The gameafied chores help keep some fun in the early game as you slowly build up the cash needed to buy your next game cabinet because thats where the real money starts to come in.

The arcade games are all cute nock-off's or remixes of classic arcade games with a fun twist, for example pack-man mixed with grand theft auto, candy crush with an andventure game feel, and brakeout with a weener dog. The games all feel decent for the most part matching their real world inspirations close enough.

The business side of the simulation is there but honestly outside of buying more games and upgrades you don't have to mess with the machine settings unless you really want to. I'm not sure if it comes later but so far I haven't seen any options for changing the theme of the arcade which is a little disapointing as the defult theme is fine but a bit dark when trying to hunt down trash and gum to keep your cleanless up.

All in all the concept is fun and the games are fun and just frustrating enough to make you want to try a few more times for that classic quarter eating experance.

This review is a long time coming... I had [b][i]so much fun[/i][/b] playing this game a while back, and it is a game that I recommend. That said, as someone who has put a ton of hours into this game and, at one point, sought to 100% this game, I can't rightly say there aren't any issues I have with it.

First and foremost...the positives. Well, this one game is essentially dozens of games packed into one. Each arcade cabinet in this game is its own game that you can play. I have have several favorites, and even some that I really struggled to beat ended up still being a lot of fun in retrospect (Line Terror was such a menace). I really enjoyed the variety and, even though I was going for achievements a lot of the time, I would often hop into this game just to go play a specific cabinet. Once you've more or less beaten the game, it really does feel like you've been given free range over an arcade where you don't have to pay to play anything, which is really neat and adds to this game's value.

Speaking of "beating the game," there is a narrative here. You can kinda ignore it a lot of the time, but it is tied to you upgrading your arcade. It's a fine enough story, I'd say. I actually prolonged the process as long as possible as I wanted to get every cabinet I could when I could, so I spent a lot of time doing the other minigames and manipulating the numbers to get as much earnings as I could. This was made a lot easier when I eventually discovered the [spoiler]cheat that makes your laundry machines always put out S Tier clothes. I like that laundry minigame and all as a thing to do, but not the stress of it, so I started playing with that cheat on [/spoiler] and it made the experience much better overall, which seems like an honestly encouraged way to play given that the dev added an achievement for it.

So, I definitely took my time with this game and played each of the cabinets - including the DLC ones - a good deal. I also listened to a ton of music from the game as I was doing that, and I have to say the soundtrack for this game is great! Whether you're talking about the soundtracks in individual games, the ambient tracks, or the records you choose to play, it is all perfect for the vibe this game is wanting to live in and I find myself listening to some of these tracks when not even playing the game.

Now, I could continue talking about all the things I enjoyed or break down my opinions on each individual game (I might do that at some point [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45590199-Linguini%2527s-Library/]on my curator page[/url]), [i]but[/i] I do need to leave some room for criticism here.

A lot of the jank in this game I actually find mostly charming. There's fun little things born out of oversights and things like that which I really don't mind. For instance, [spoiler]you could move faster at a diagonal because it's adding your speed moving sideways and forward.[/spoiler] There are other things that I don't so much enjoy. For instance, Zombat II (I think it is funny we only have the sequel in this game, but I digress). In Zombat II you have to buy new weapons at the shop roughly in the center of the level. The problem is that it just doesn't always register your approach, which means you will often save up a ton of coins to finally get that last weapon you need to earn an achievement...only for the shop to not open and a zombie insta kill you. It's the handful of things like that which [i]actually[/i] annoy me with this game, and I've experienced a handful of weird menu things throughout the game. Honestly, if this game had more robust mod support, I imagine a lot of this would be fixed or circumvented...but, alas...

Given that there are some achievements tied to some grindy, buggy things (like Zombat II), I'm chalking this up as a 100%* run and calling it. If you [i]really[/i] care about achievements, just keep in mind that some things might be a grind and might come down to whether you're lucky. For me, it's a bummer, but I'll live.

So, now that we've taken the good and the bad, what's the verdict on this game? Frankly, despite some flaws and a few missed opportunities (like not adding a kitchen/dining side of the business), I still say this game is well worth giving a go, especially if you see it on sale. It's full of charm and a lot of what is on offer is a great deal of fun. I had a great time for the most part; and, for what they're worth, I [i]did[/i] end up getting a lot of achievements, trading cards, n such for my time.

Overall, this game might be as scuffed as the laundromat/arcade in which it is set, but it is still a fun time and unlike any other game of this sort that I've played. It's truly a great, unique experience that I thoroughly enjoyed despite hitting a few bumps along the way. [i]I recommend picking up this game, especially on sale and/or as part of a bundle![/i]

25 hrs in (took me a while) and I've finished/completed the game. Bought a few of the DLC games just for fun, a couple of quid for two extra machines ain't too bad.

This is a game of many games, it has the laundromat routine of choring to get your first machines in then you're to focus on the machines to generate money where you can ignore the laundry altogether. The machines themselves are just a shoutout to the classics of gaming with clear easter eggs thrown in the mix to give it a little bit of character and nod to the community. It's something that won't appeal to everyone but it's not a game that's taking itself too seriously and nor should you if you decide to play it. Pick it up every now and then and shoot zombies or beat that infuriating bastard Sams high score ( I still haven't) and you can see what this collection of games within the game is.

It's got a dope soundtrack and a relatively simple story to carry it along. Nothing grand and complicated, it's just an arcade.

All in all I'd recommend it as a laid back experience with some clear passion and fun put into it's development.

Lots of bugs including ones from years ago that were reported but never fixed. Nickel-and-dime DLC for individual arcade cabinets feels predatory and greedy. The laundromat stuff at the beginning of the game was a horrible design decision and should've never been included, it makes the early-game a nightmare and takes away from the whole experience.

Some of the bugs include things like several daily tasks being impossible to complete, which you need for a separate currency for upgrades like sprinting or having coin hoppers automatically emptied. Updates have ceased a long time ago at the time of writing, so these bugs will likely never be fixed.

The game has an incredible idea. Owning a video arcade with working, playable cabinets [i]should[/i] be a really fun experience. But the execution has so many flaws and problems that I just cannot recommend it.

I have spent a lot of time with this game and frankly, i can't really recommend it.

It's a business sim, where you manage laundry with some arcade cabinets on the side and one day, your character realizes that the latter makes more money and focuses on turning that into a business venture. Right of the bat, the story is just not very good. It's a melodramatic tale about a daughter, that wants the laundry to become something better and a father, who doesn't believe in her ideas and it reads like a bad Disney Channel movie.

at a first glance, the gameplay loop is okay - you do the laundry, take care of the trash at the start of the day and fix things when they break. It's engaging at the beggining, but later becomes quite tiresome. Picking up object can be a hassle, due to it sometimes not registering properly - I had to dance around a piece of garbage in order to find a perfect angle/spot, so the game allowed me to take it.

But then there are the aformentioned arcade cabinets - While you wait for the laundry, you can play games and as you gain more money, you buy more of them and eventually bigger space. Your even encouraged to play them, because there are daily challenges, which, after completion, will get you special currency, for which you can purchase upgrades - those include radio adverts, machines breaking less and the most expensive - an assistant, who picks up money from the coin slots. I actually, had most of the useful ones by the end and when, in the story, it turns into full on arcade - At that point, I almost did nothing throughout the whole day. Sure, picking up trash and chewed up bubble gums and fixing something here and there, but mostly i just waited for a shift to end. Somebody can argue that i could play the arcade cabinets and a lot of them do replicate their respective inspiration well enough, but it's not so great, that i had to keep coming back for more.

I guess, the main issue is that it feels a little dry and a bit too simplistic. You can't even customize the arcade that much. I don't think it's really that bad and somebody, who is new to the business sim genre might find it enjoyable, but I wasn't really into it.

I had high hopes for this game and played it from start to finish, and sadly I have to say that you're better off keeping your hard-earned tokens this time. I was originally going to drop the game entirely and leave a negative review after a side quest had me beating the high score of a game twenty times in a row just to unlock a picture of a cat, but I wanted to make sure I had legitimate reasons to leave a negative review before I actually committed to it. I can safely say now that I definitely do, so here goes:

Arcade Paradise felt like it was pulled in too many directions at once, and as a result, the devs couldn't focus on any of those directions to make any of them fun. Here's why:

- You spend the first two hours doing chores. No, really. Literal, actual chores. These chores are spread out over a series of long, unskippable, and utterly insufferable daddy issue family drama story segments that drag down the entire game. My excitement for the next upgrade always came with the dread of the next unskippable story segment.

- There's SOME management, but all your management comes down to changing a game's difficulty and settings its price. The game tells you that moving less popular games closer to popular ones helps their revenue, but I never noticed a notable improvement when I did so. You can't budget for anything like ads or cleaning costs or employees or repairs or anything that makes managing a business FUN for people who enjoy business management. You can look at a graph of your arcade's profits, but there's no point to it when you're continually operating in the green with none of your choices truly impacting your profits.

- There's SOME customization, but you're just restricted to picking where each machine goes. And even then, some machines have dedicated spots that they cannot be moved from, even after expanding the arcade with more than enough space to accommodate them in a different spot. No choice in carpet, no choice in wall colors, no choice in posters, no choice in decor in your own office, I mean you can't even change the wallpaper of your computer to be anything except a simple pale blue. These are small things, sure, but they matter and they all factor in to making your arcade unique to YOU. The arcade you see in the screenshots? That's all you get.

- There's SOME upgrades, but only two of them really matter: The employee who empties hoppers for you, and the radio ad. Everything else is useless or poorly designed; for instance, there's an upgrade that lets you buy running shoes which lets you move SLIGHTLY faster. There are glasses which bill themselves as letting you see trash easier (which would be helpful since clear bottles are hard to see in the dimly lit areas) but all they do is let you zoom in. There's a safe you can unlock which I guess would let you deposit cash faster, but depositing cash takes all of five seconds and with an employee emptying hoppers, you hardly interact with it after that anyway. Upgrades are meaningless when it's so evident that so few of them matter.

- I mentioned it near the start of my review, but this is so egregious I had to say it twice. Around 8 hours in there's a mini story where some random kid beats your high score on a specific game and emails you, challenging you to beat her score. If you don't, she'll spam you multiple times about her score being better than yours. You can't turn these emails off. So I figured fine, I'll beat her score if she'll shut up and quit emailing me. I beat the score (around 100), but then I decided I would lock in, keep playing, and get the highest score I could reasonably achieve so she would never email me again (which was around 300). It turns out that in this specific side story, she will ALWAYS beat your score by a few points, and does this TWENTY TIMES IN A ROW. I kept getting notifications in-game that I was getting emails and I started ignoring them because I assumed it was her. I had to open a hex editor and edit my save file to reset my high score for that game, which in turn reset the quest. I cheesed it by only beating her score by exactly one point so the next score would be achieveable. I sat there for two hours in this stupid contest with this CPU, only to get to the end of the email chain to discover she moved out of the country to study abroad with her boyfriend. She sends you a picture of her cat. THAT is your reward. No unlocks, no achievements, just a cat. One of the devs publicly apologized on the TrueAchievements forum for how bad this side quest was, despite multiple people calling it out, and did nothing to address it. This is easily the single worst side quest of any game I have ever played. This was so bad that I legitimately had to get up from my desk, lay down, and stare at the ceiling wondering what I'm doing with my life.

- A quick note from the first point, I had to turn the voice volume to zero just to make it bearable. Even then, this setting did not turn off the cringey voices that play when fixing a game, cleaning a toilet, and taking out the trash. These voice lines play HUNDREDS of times throughout your playthrough and you can't turn them off. Zero voice volume should mean ZERO voice volume!

- Lastly, you spend the last three hours of the game just waiting for the credits to appear. You show up, clean up trash, then sit and wait in the office until enough money comes in to buy the next machine or upgrade. While it may be somewhat realistic to what I'd do if I owned an arcade, it doesn't make it any less fun.

To further add to my frustration, here are a bunch of questions that never got answered while playing the game:
Why are you doing other people's laundry at a laundromat? Are the devs are so out of touch with reality that they've never been to a laundromat in real life?
Why is your father giving you euros as a reward for playing video games when it's evident he hates them so much?
Why does your father STILL send you euros for playing video games AFTER betraying his trust?
Why is your only employee only getting paid a couple hundred euros to empty hoppers for you? Why does he do this forever?
Why can't your employee do anything else like cleaning up trash or removing gum or fixing machines?
Why does the first game you get with 3D graphics not have immense popularity compared to the 2D games in your arcade?
Why are you forced to get the Pong clone and Asteroids clone until AFTER your arcade is filled with high-tech games that would have rendered them obsolete? This would be like buying Pong and setting it up when you have Outrun and Golden Tee sitting RIGHT next to it, it makes no sense chronologically or business-wise, and to top it off it also under-performs throughout the rest of the playthrough.
Why is there a story at all? Why can't your arcade management game just be about, you know, managing an arcade?

Now, are there ANY positive things to say about the game? Yes, I will say that the cabinet models are nice. The games themselves are just clones of arcade classics, but they're competent clones that introduce fun twists. Completing goals for each game to make them more profitable did offer a little enjoyment towards making a more profitable arcade. But these small features were not enough to turn this disappointing travesty of a game into a pleasant experience for me.

There were just so many things that could have been improved to make it a better experience overall, but all the effort went into the games and the story. At the end of the day, Arcade Paradise is just a collection of mini games between family melodrama, and that is an utter crying shame when there was so much potential to fill a niche that, to me at least, has yet to be filled.

I truly hope we get the arcade business management simulator we all deserve, because to me at least, this game does not fit the bill.

I think this is what I was wanting from UFO 50. A mix of custom "retro" games plus a themed world I can actually play around in. Does it accurately represent a period arcade? Not even remotely. In no universe would you be finding vector based score attack games beside eurobeat dance platforms at the same time you're rocking Windows 95. But damn it, the VIBE is there, and that's what matters in the end! Not all of the games were ones I got on with, but there were plenty that I did. Great synthwave tunes, too. Easy recommend! You can safely skip the DLC if you want, too. Nothing in there is tied to the game progression.

I wanted to like this game and even got to play it a fair bit in VR, but at the end of the day I felt more like I was playing Laundromat Simulator with some sort of arcade DLC. The annoyance of that main gameplay loop doesn't offset the decent but average arcade games included... the reward ends up not being worth the effort in the end.

Maybe the game gets better and progresses beyond the "laundromat" facade, but you can't force me to slog through gameplay I don't like just to get to the gameplay I want. I genuinely regret this purchase. Even the promo video leans into this laundromat thing, I really don't get it. This is certainly not *my* arcade paradise.

Started washing virtual clothes, ended up running a full-blown arcade empire.
Each machine has a mini-game with highscores, stats, popularity score amongst customers, price management, etc.
It starts slow and weird… then suddenly by day 3 I find myself skipping doing my real laundry to play this game.
8/10 would avoid my IRL chores all over again.

Think is the first X job simulator that runs and looks amazing that I have played so far.
with 38 different arcades/minigames there is always something to pass the time between the laundromat stages, and most of the machine goals are pretty fair, and the once that aren't are a good way to remember how hard it was back in then too.

There is some bugs here and there, (literally on the fixing bugs, which I think should have a toggle for the roaches, it can be a phobia trigger for some people), and couldn't managed to make the multiplayer work... but overall is a good way to experience what arcade culture was and is.

Favorites: Line terror (QIX), very challenging and addicting.

Симулятор владельца прачечной/аркадной комнаты. Отец доверил нам управление небольшой старой прачечной, но мы считаем, что на аркадных автоматах можно заработать больше и делаем подпольный клуб. Постепенно аркадный бизнес затмевает стирку и у нас будет большой зал с несколькими десятками игр... А ведь в каждую можно поиграть! Все игры на порядок выше большинства треш игр стима, а есть и совсем шедевры! Мало? Купи еще с десяток в виде дополнений. Проходил на деке и это были великолепные несколько вечеров. Не заметил что обзор не написан - исправляюсь и рекомендую всем!

让人怀念的街机游戏，也许正如那个回不去的夏天，我们一起逃课坐在游戏厅，一人拿着一根廉价冰棍，穿着凉拖、翘着脚丫、吸着不知道哪里弄来的烟屁股，不记得最后是打赢了还是打输了，因为在记忆里具体已经模糊。只能从鼻间嗅到呛人的二手烟味道和耳边听到略带卡顿的塑料摇杆晃动声。
也许，这就是长大了。

This game makes daily chores in real life feel nice, because in this game, doing laundry, tearing chewing gum off the walls, unclogging the toilet, and throwing away the trash are gamified so well that I've started to appreciate the small everyday chores in a new way! Plus, the feeling of being able to work and get paid for it!

Un jeu pour le moins étrange, on s'attendrai tout d'abord à un hommage aux vieilles salles d'arcade, puis à une espèce de "simulator" comme il en pullule, puis pour finir à un jeu de grind...

Et pourtant, à bien y réfléchir, ce jeu est au final surtout une expérience assez déroutante sur... l'aliénation au travail, que l'on choisit ou subit.

Après tout, on commence le jeu en devant bosser péniblement pour une laverie qui ne nous intéresse pas... avant de devoir bosser et s'aliéner pour faire marche une salle d'arcade... sauf que cette fois, on le fais avec "plaisir" car c'était notre but au départ. Et que dire des multiples petits jeux d'arcade qui ne sont pas sans rappeler les jeux flashs du début des années 2000... tout aussi aliénant, et sur lesquels on pouvait pourtant passer des heures à jouer.

On en ressort avec un sentiment de trouble, en se posant des questions sur ou est la limite entre aliénation et amusement, et entre amusement et travail, mais c'est presque à se demander si ce ne serait pas voulu, et même si ça n'était pas voulu, c'est plutôt réussi.

Bref, pas un jeu incroyable, mais une expérience pas inintéressante et à essayer, si vous avez quelques heures devant vous (et ptet en attendant les petits prix des soldes quand même)

Начало было внушительным, симулятор собственной прачечной давал эффект трудоёмкой работы. Игровые аркадные автоматы считаю лишними. Не хватает живой аудитории, чувствуешь в игре себя одиноким, и всё постепенно становится уныло.

Arcade Paradise puts you in the role of managing your father's old laundry business, while slowly converting the business model into an arcade.

In general, what you see is what you get.

The initial stages of the game feel like a chore, constantly having to run and cycle laundry or pick up trash while trying to play games in the back room to boost arcade popularity. The more popular a game becomes, the more income it can generate for you.

Eventually as you continue to expand the arcade business, it becomes significantly more profitable to focus on income generation through the arcade. As you beat game challenges, the cabinets also increase in popularity, and the laundry becomes an after thought.

The arcade games are spinoffs of various retro games; some well known, others obscure. You'll run across many you recognize, like Frogger and Pac-Man, but are almost sure to encounter something you're unfamiliar with. The variety of cabinets keeps the arcade interesting, and with each game having its own unique challenges, you'll enjoy some and hate others.

As the story progresses, you learn about the protagonist's strained relationship with her father as she struggles to find her independence through the business. I wouldn't call it interesting, but the fact that it's there at all makes the game feel like there's a linear progression with an overall achievable goal.

Although there are several bugs throughout Arcade Paradise, none of them are game-breaking. My primary complaints are centered around the secondary currency which can only be gained by completing tasks on the "To-Do List," which really turns a lot of achievements into a mindless grind.

Additionally, if a sequel were released, I'd like to see more effort put into the business management. Employee wages, customizing asthetics, budgeting for repairs, etc. could have really added some significant gameplay elements to make you more carefully consider how to spend your income.

Despite that aspect, overall I found the diversity of this game satisfying. If you like simulators and retro gaming, you'll find something to enjoy here.

I got this for dirt cheap (less than a euro). This game is super chill and fun. No stress at all, yet, you can aim for goals, so do whatever you want!

I only miss the option to walk around with another player (off- or online).

Amazing and Addicting!! I have pumped so many hours into certain machines alone and I don't think I could stop playing them till I've finished every little challenge. The DLC is Fun and adds some goodies to the mix of main game machines.

Vraiment cool mais très long (beaucoup de machine à lavé à faire, bruh). C'est vraiment dans un style tycoon plutôt long. Mais sinon, c'est vraiment cool, il y a pleins d'arcade et de jeux différent.
