Nessuno che inventi qualcosa di nuovo, si realizzano giochi ispirati da altri titoli o si continua con le lunghe serie. In un caso o nell'altro giocare ad un gioco coinvolgente, nuovo o meno nuovo, diventa sempre più difficile. Del genere strategico/gestionale i bei giochi rimangono CIV VI, Tropico 5 e 6, Cities: Skylines.

I cannot recommend this game as it is asking full price for an incomplete product. The game has a few good ideas and potential but with a host of issues, uncertain future; it warrants caution before purchasing. That being said, if it can be bought for half price or under, and you’re a fan of the 4x genre, it could entertain you for a decent number of hours and hopefully provide enough value for your money. (details below if curious)

Pros:
-Production chains! (To be fair Millenia did this before them but it’s still a great mechanic) Being able to utilize the map beyond just high yield tiles is super fun and a great blend of crafting gameplay into the 4x genre. Building chains to then create items to empower your civ is a very deep and interesting system for the player to strategically utilize. How this was implemented is a bit of a con for this game but the overall idea is a huge positive and win.
-City Quality. I really liked their mechanic on improving and receiving bonuses based on the quality of a city. This helps further deepen the Tall playstyle or creating a hyper specialized city. You could argue that they didn’t develop this enough and it has issues but the overall idea was solid.
-Military. This could a be a hot take but I enjoyed how they implemented Military in this game. They utilized formations unlocking over time and to me this felt like a good compromise between one unit per tile and doom stacking. It also had a little bit of rock/paper/scissor with formations/unit type. Granted, how it actually works could use improvement and you could argue it’s a bit boring in auto resolving but I liked the overall idea of it.
-Art/Map. The game has a good aesthetic and I liked the parceling of each region into 3-5 smaller pieces. This seemed like a good compromise of single tiles and/or the big regions that other games have been trying.

Cons:
-Lack of Polish/Playtesting. This is the biggest one as I could list hundreds of confusing questions I had while playing. There are so many times when you’re playing and you’re just confused and asking why the devs did or did not do something or how was this not caught during a single playtest? This is also ignoring bugs (there are a lot) and just focusing on awkward design decisions. An easy example is how they have a lot of focus on building but then strange issues within that core system: Some buildings upgrade smoothly throughout the game but some do not at all and have zero synergy? (why aren’t all building paths as smooth as workshops?) Why do some buildings have great synergies/throughput and some are standalone or completely terrible? There is no easy to way to replace a building. You have to demolish, wait a turn, then remember to go back and rebuild? I could go on and on and this is just one example in one system. The whole game feels unfinished and untested and that feels super frustrating as a consumer expecting a complete game.
-Lack of playstyle options. They implemented food/production with a splash of culture/science/religion but there is no wealth or different/specialized playstyles. This is a big head scratcher as it’s in the 4x genre but they didn’t implement the major 4x pillars of playstyles? Or hybrid or anything? Where is the player choice or replayability?
-Ai/Diplomacy/Trade. The Ai has very simplistic scripting where they forward settle, act erratic and just aggro/annoy the human player. This is not a challenge or strategically interesting, it’s just irritating. Then if they piggyback other mechanics like trade/diplo on top of an incompetent Ai, you lose a lot of gameplay and further frustrate the player. It’s awkward that we have such advanced Ai in real life but the Ai in this game is incredibly predictable and stupid.
-Quality of Life improvements. They’re still working on major overhauls on this which is sad considering you would think this would have been the first thing to finish or patch. The biggest example of this is that you make 100+ items in this game but the organization and implementation of this is rough. You have to micro EACH building’s production for your entire civ and also adjust this constantly as the game progresses… oof. (There is some fun here in strategically producing but a lot of it can be quite tedious.) A game all about building and they didn’t think how the player would want to easily use or access this system?

I was hoping this game was going to be good and help fill the hole that Civ 7 left in the genre but sadly it’s an incomplete mess. It feels like they got a little lost in the weeds and didn’t have a clear holistic goal for the final vision. It’s a 4x with production chains which is cool but then they didn’t think about how that system interacts with the rest of the game or how to streamline or refine that system. As a result, the core gameplay loop is missing, sloppy and it leaves the player head scratching and wondering where the rest of the game is. It did have some good gems for future devs to expand and build upon but to call this a complete product is a massive stretch.

I'm loving this game. Very big learning curve as i assumed it would be similar to civ, but its so in-depth.. resource, economy, production (both casual resource and strategic) is completely different and makes you think about how to utilize everything you own. as era's progress it does get even more in depth but i don't think that's a bad thing. Combat is pretty good, BUT you can still lose to earlier tech if out numbered.

Still some kinks to work out with this game but overall its a very good strategy game that's kept me on my toes even way into the future era's. i feel like sometimes civ games just feel like your clicking next on repeat with no change till something good happens, but on this game it's as though your going through so many things each turn.

Ara: History Untold feels at first like a cousin to Civilization. It's familiar in its grand strategy scope but quickly shows it’s carving its own path. There’s a lot more micro‑management and hands‑on involvement here, which makes every decision feel weighty and personal. The interface can seem busy at first, and the learning curve is definitely steep, but after a few rounds it clicks, and that complexity becomes part of the charm. Watching your cities grow into bustling, living spaces is genuinely satisfying, and the game rewards patience with a deep sense of progression. It’s the kind of 4X that keeps you hooked with “just one more turn” even though I havent played on after winning. It also challenges you to think harder and dig deeper than you might in other titles.

Evet oyun bahsedildiği gibi cidden yoğun bir hem sahip olunan veya olunacak topraklardan kaynaklı ham madde kaynağı ve hem de dönemine göre atölye-fabrika-üretim tesisi gibi gelişmelerle farklılaşan binalarda üretebileceğiniz envai çeşit ara ve son ürünlerle "bu ürünü nerede üretiyorduk" diye kafanızın karışacağı bir çeşitlilik var. Kendi adıma böyle karmaşık ürün zincirleri hoşuma gittiği için benden önemli bir "+" puan aldı. İkinci "+" puanı ise oyunun yapımcı tarafından %99 oranında diyebileceğim kadar orjinal Türkçe sunulması. (%1; bir iki yerde etkinlik olarak çıkan durumlarda çeviri unutulmuş sanırım) Oyun 3 ana bölüme ayrılmış; ilk çağ, orta çağ ve modern dönem gibi diyebiliriz. Oyun içinde yaptığımız her şeyden üretim, nüfus gelişimi, birlik üretimi, savaşlar, teknolojik gelişmelerden ve bilhassa en yüksek puanı veren özel tarihi yapılardan elde ettiğimiz prestij puanlarıyla bu 3 dönem içinde belli sıralamalarımız oluyor. İşte burada muhtemelen oyunun ilk çıktığı dönemlerde şampiyonlar ligi grup mücadelesi gibi ilk iki sırada olmazsanız oyun sizin için bitiyordu. Sonradan bu düzeltilmiş sanırım ki yeni bitirdiğim oyunda öyle bir durum yoktu. Sadece kaldırmayı unuttuklarını düşündüğüm "puanınız bir sonraki devire geçmek için yetersiz, oyun sonlanacak uyarısına" rağmen oyunun sonuna kadar diğer yapay zeka oyuncuları savaşarak oyun dışı kaldılar. Bence de tamam sıralama mantığı olabilir ve dönem sonunda duruma göre ödüllendirme ve cezalandırma olmalı. Yani ben kötü bir yönetim sergilesem de kuvvetli asgari gücümle bir yere kadar millete kök söktürebilirim. Oyunda bir nevi şehir de kuruyoruz diyebilirim. Tabi cüzi miktarda müdahale edebiliyoruz. Sadece belli bölgelere istediğimiz üretim binalarımızı yerleştirip şehrin oraya kendiliğinden yol yapması ve insanların çalışmasını izlemek de keyifli. Topraklar alıştığımız standart altıgen şekilli değil. Daha doğal bozuk şekilleri var. Her toprak parçası da büyüklüğüne göre 3-4 küçük ve binalarımızı yerleştirebileceğimiz parçalara ayrılmış. Burada beni rahatsız eden tamam ilk çağlarda birliklerimiz tek büyük toprak parçası hareket edebilirken, atom çağında bile halen tek bölge hareketi yapması oldukça saçma, kesinlikle düzeltilmesi lazım. Hoşuma giden bir diğer husus birliklerimizden ilerleyen çağlarda tugay tümen gibi ordu kurabilmemiz ve "hilal, kama" gibi farklı dizilimlere ordularımız yerleştirebilmemiz oyunun dikkat çekici kendine has özelliği diyebilirim. Birliklerin savaşlarını da izleyebiliyoruz. Biraz total war tarzı kapışmaları güzel gelse de bazı yerlerde bug olduğunu düşündüğüm atlıların koşarak savaş alanından kaybolması gibi garip şeyler de mevcut. Oyunun en önemli kanayan yarası bana göre diplomasi. Ben CIV 5 de "Cesar ın kibirli tavrını, Attila nın tehditvari konuşmalarını, Theodora nın 'al ülkem senin olsun güzelim'" dedirten hareketlerinden sonra burada "dilsiz taklidi yapan dilenci" gibi tavırlar sergileyen devlet liderleriyle size pek katkısı veya zararı olmayan diplomasi yapmak beni hayal kırıklığına uğrattı. Keza savaşlarda yer yer saçma durumlar var. Size seçtiğiniz savaş hedefine göre mesela 25 tur süre veriyor(saldırma veya savunma durumlarında). Bu süre sonunda şak savaş diplomasi olmaksızın bitiyor. Adamın bir yerdeki toprağına gidene kadar süre bitiyor veya aşırı toprak kazanımı durumunda barıştaki komşularınız "birgün bu bizim de başımıza bela olur" diyen komşular yerine "hadi 10 tur daha ortak bilimsel araştırma yapalım" diyen bir zihniyet var. Ve son konu adını hayatta duymadığım kabile devletlerini koymuşsunuz bir Türk devleti yok. Osmanlı koy, Selçuklu koy, hatta hoş sürpriz yap Atatürk liderliğinde Türkiye yi koy. Dünyada bizdeki siyasal İslamcılar dışında herkesin ya sevdiği ya da saygı duyduğu adamı koy. Ne güzel Türkçe çıkartıyorsun oyunu tarihte her dönem etkisini göstermiş bir milletten onlarca adet kurulmuş bir tane devlet koymuyorsan burada art niyet ararım açıkcası. Neyse çok uzattım üretim zinciri kısmı harika, görsellik ve akıcılığı kısmı gayet güzel, savaş kısmı "eh", diplomasi kısmının çoook gelişmesi gereken bir oyun. Ara ara %50 indirim girdiği için satın almada sabırlı olun diyebilirim.

I like this game a lot! Finally a civilization builder that really tries to simulate something. In the endgame the economy is getting really complex and if you picked the right difficulty, this game will make you think.

Every other game in this genre only gives you approximations of real stuff to play around with. Kinda like pulling levers, very predictable, easy to calculate. The complexity of ARA is not that high, but after the first era, there are so many different levers to pull in a neat logical way in order to have a strong economy, you have to optimize it constantly. This is not Civ-like build and forget. You can have dozens of touchpoints with a single building during a game, while thinking deeply on how to utilize it best (along sooo many parameters). You're not just stacking bonuses, you building stuff. Kinda what this genre is about!

Doing this while being the most beautiful 4x out there is kinda cool. If they could add an in-depth simulation-like political, diplomatic and military system, on par with the economic system, I would never play anything else ever.
So yeah recommended I guess.

Well designs in developing citiies , economy , supply chain, science, I give score 10 out of 10 , In Diplomacy still can be more detailed, In Tradeing , we can just receive and can not sell??, very primitive for sucha game , graphic is perfec and detailed, map is ok , AI pretty good, unit stracture is good but very poor not 3D animating units , The war is the biggest miss on this game, just the matter of increasuiing the number , ,player does not polayy the wars, just very passive, I give 1 out of 10. Civilizations adn leader chose nicely 10 out of 10.it is based on historical facts which is good and is NOT like many game Leonardo Da Vinci can become o leader of Mongolia :), But each civilization has it's own historic personality and weak and strong points.

Dávám 4/10, za těch prvních osm úrovní obtížnosti, které jsem projel jako nůž máslem. Na deváté úrovni obtížnosti jsem dostal takový hendikep ve vynalézání, že jsem pochopil, že toto se opravdu uhrát nedá. S těmi limity na počet měst se tahle hra nedá na vyšší obtížnost jednoduše uválčit jako to jde v civilizaci a humankindu. Válčení je opravdu šílený patvar, nevím, kdo to vymyslel, ale to přisouvání posil v jednotlivých tazích je při vyrovnané hře prakticky nehratelné. Stavění je taky pěkně vypečené, kdy ani po upgradu 2.0 nejsou zvýrazněny stavby, které jde zrovna upgradovat a musíte je pořád dohledávat ručně, celé je to značně nepřehledné. Celkově za mě vyhozené peníze, protože humankind i civilizace 6 jednoznačně lepší, přehlednější a hratelnější, obě jsem dojel na nejtvrdší obtížnost.

nett, aber eigentlich nur eine Civ-Kopie... und leider mit diversen Fehlern in der Übersetzung, besonders wenn ein englisches Wort im Deutschen mehrere Bedeutungen haben kann. Da wurde zielgenau dann eine falsche gewählt und das Ergebnis ist Unfug (z.B. Veranstaltung statt Ereignis) oder schlimmer noch eine Falschaussage, von Grammatik- oder Rechtschreibfehlern ganz zu schweigen.

It feels like a classic 4X game but at its heart is a unique and interesting resource-management system. It's a bit micromanagey, but in my opinion not to its detriment, as the "micromanaging" decisions feel impactful. The economy of your nation, driven by available natural resources and the buildings you invest in, is the heart of the gameplay and the driver of your wins and losses, which I feel is really cool. You can sort of follow the steps of where things go from harvest to final usage. I wish the civilization choices felt more universally different/impactful, though.

German translation is not acceptable. Game language can not be changed in the settings, so simply playing in English is not so easily done. Helt ok till nedsatt pris som jag köpte det för (250kr.) Inte värt ordinarie pris 500kr. För att spela fullt ut krävs otroligt mycket att göra varje omgång. Går att strunta i det men då blir spelet väldigt segt och händelsefattigt. Behöver utvecklas ännu mer. Då kan det bli ett riktigt bra spel. Har kört 4st hela kampanjer (vinst alla) och har tyvärr redan börjat tröttna. Om utvecklarna hörsammar oss och uppdaterar ytterligare kommer fler än jag ge tummen upp.

Amazing game! I am truly enjoying playing this game. You can recreate multiple real life scenarios quite easily and the AI is pretty good, I can play a single gameplay for days! On the down side, once you are more advanced, the management of the resources, despite the most recent updates, is still very slow and time consuming. Performance can also be affected quite late in the game.

Forget what you know about 4X games; this is an Economic Sim in a historical trench coat.

If you come into Ara expecting Civ 7, you’ll be disappointed. But if you come into it wanting the complexity of Anno 1800 or Victoria mixed with grand strategy, you’ll be addicted.

The Good:

The Crafting Loop: Managing production chains—from grain to flour to bread to keep your citizens happy—is incredibly satisfying.

Stunning Scale: The "living world" is real. You can zoom from a satellite view all the way down to individual citizens walking through your town squares.

v2.0 Improvements: The Revolutions update finally fixed the tedious micromanagement with the "AI Shop Owners" and quotas. It’s much smoother now.

The Bad:

Warfare is Mid: Combat is still mostly about numbers and formations; it lacks the tactical "crunch" of other strategy games.

Steep Learning Curve: Even with the better tutorials, the math behind "Prestige" can feel opaque.

Verdict: A refreshing alternative to the standard 4X formula. It’s finally the game it was promised to be at launch.

Although it looks nice and has very interesting economic features, many mechanics are either too inefficient AND unclear (e.g. diplomacy where it takes several rounds to get a decision from the ai) or too passive (e.g. battles, they take several rounds and are boring bcz you don't see anything except a shrinking bar). to me it makes the gameplay too bland, long-stretched and unappealing.

I have played the civilization series since the first game, and that tempted me to give this a go.

I'd say this is closer to Civ 7 than other Civ games, with alot more micro managing of cities. I've had alot of fun so far, though I think the diplomacy is rather simplified.

War auf der Suche nach einem 4X Game was mal etwas anders ist als Civ.
Hab schon Civ. 1 gespielt, und alle anderen auch.
Bin total begeistert von dem Spiel.
Kann die vielen schlechten Bewertungen nicht verstehen, speziell wenn man nach zwei drei Stunden vielleicht die Mechanik noch nicht richtig verstanden hat.
Hab jetzt 2 Durchgänge gespielt, und starte gerade mit Schwierigkeitsgrad König, der schon sehr herausfordernd ist.
Dieses Spiel ist noch nicht perfekt. Die Übersetzung ist wahrscheinlich größtenteils von der KI gemacht, und deshalb auch noch verbesserungswürdig. Die Entwickler haben auch in der Vergangenheit schon viel nachgebessert, und ich hoffe dass die letzten paar Kleinigkeiten auch noch nachkommen.
Als Civ-Spieler findet man grundsätzlich mal Dinge die anders sind komisch. Aber man muss sich mal eine Zeit darauf einlassen, dann kann man sehr viel Spaß damit haben.
Die Produktionsketten sind im späteren Spielverlauf schon Zeitaufwändig, habe aber für einen Durchlauf nicht länger gebraucht wie bei Civ VI. Die Ressourcenverfügbarkeit, und Produktion von Waren wird sehr, sehr gut Dargestellt. Generell kann man mit der Shift-Taste jedes Fenster Sperren, auf die nächste Erklärung gehen, wieder sperren usw. . Das alles macht die für ein 4X-Game sehr komplexe Produktionskette, trotzdem übersichtlich.
Genial finde ich das System mit den Regionen, die unterschiedlich viele Zonen haben. Das macht nochmals einen großen taktischen Unterschied.
Forschung ist nicht ein statischer Baum der immer gleich ist. Einzelne Forschungen variieren, und man kann in das nächste Zeitalter springen obwohl noch nicht alles erforscht ist. Zurückgelassene Forschungen lassen sich nicht nachholen, aber es gibt eventuell später noch welche für bestimmte Verbesserungen. Ein zusätzlicher taktischer Punkt.
Mein Fazit:
Ja es gibt Dinge die dieses Spiel noch besser machen, aber ich liebe es jetzt schon!
Von mir gibt es eine volle Kaufempfehlung, genau das was ich gesucht habe!

Years later, this game appears and gives a lovely fluid way of growing cities without compromising other worthwhile aspects of the Civ 5 style of play. In my view this is a better game than Civ 5 (and Civ 6).

Severe one more turn syndrome for more than 60 hours. But the fun is gone. I am giving a positive rating as I think it would be unfair not to given that I have been playing this game like crazy over the past week or so. However, it does not seem like I will play this game for as many hours as Humankind, Civ 6 and Old Word.

The problem may just be my expectations for this game. I thought the game would be a more laid back type of 4X game concentrating on economics and building triumphs (wonders) rather than warfare. But playing on the third highest difficulty (grand duke I think) it is obvious that if you want to win you have to kill, kill, kill and expand, expand, expand otherwise you will not have enough "prestige" which is basically the score in this game. What I like about Civ 6 and Endless Space 2 is that once you have a certain reasonable amount of cities/solar systems you can stop expanding and just have enough of a military to defend yourself, but you can stop killing everything in sight and just by building stuff you can win the game on the highest or second highest difficulty.

In Ara, however, it really seems that without constant expansion you cannot get enough prestige on the higher levels. Now, that would not be so bad (humankind is the same) if the game had a decent combat system. But the combat is poor and that is where I think the devs made a mistake. If you create a 4X game that is heavy on the expansion X of the 4X formula then you need a decent (fun) combat system. Humankind had an alright system, but really, if you want to play an expansion style 4X game play Shadow Empire or Distant Worlds 2 or at least combat heavy games like AoW games.

A game like this, which I thought was going to be a turn-based Anno sort of game, should not force you to expand this much. This causes another problem. At the beginning of the third Act I have 12 cities. It is too much. You have no connection to the cities. When I build a new improvement I am like "Oh great, my 254th tannery in my 34th city, how NOT exciting..." (obviously I am exaggerating the numbers but you get the idea).

So yeah, I do not think this game brings much to the 4X genre and there are better 4X games out there. Nonetheless, if you are a big fan of 4X games and you have had enough of Civ 6, Humankind, etc. I guess you should give the game a try when it is on sale.

I tried this game for a free weekend deal and I would like to say it is a good economy strategy in general, I like resourses management and original concepts but I am not sure about buying it because developer might not keep updating it with the lack of active players.
I think they might need an ARA 3.0 one more try with some good update and maybe ppl comeback to the game.
It looks like the biggest issue of the game for me it is a phasing - I started to click end turn so early in this game - I believe you can accelearate it by 25-50% and it will be more intence. Also adding some goods for a military will be a good idea - like produce and equiped your archer with an armour, etc, which give them some bonuses.
Also rebalance food will be a good idea - looks like this resourse starting to stockpile easely and maybe unit maintanence could concume some food.
In conclusion I believe there are a lot of more interesting mechanics and updates could be added to this game and developers did a good job to create a CORE game but if you are not a Firaxis you can not afford to launch unpolished product...

I generally like 4x grand strategy games like this, but this one excels at nothing except consuming time. Based on the accomplishments, less than one player in 8 has ever finished a game, and I can see why. On the easiest level, completing a game took me 116.6 hours of fiddling with balancing an overcomplicated production scheme. There are few tools that I could find to automate mundane tasks. I say "that I could find" because the tutorial is broken and the documentation sucks. The tutorial froze on an early task, which I completed but it never recognized, so it never advanced to other tasks. Overall, you would be far better off using your time playing pretty much any older version of Civ,, all of which are superior in most ways to ARA.

Imagine Civilization with all the leanness, efficiency, and design elegance you'd expect of a Microsoft product. Don't let my 50 minutes of play time fool you. The first 25 of that was spent watching the title screen say "GPU Shader Compilation is taking longer than expected." Another 10 minutes was spent waiting for it to generate the map for a new game. The graphics were glitchy and filled with all sorts of artifacts and pixellation. I tried twice to lower the settings to something my run-of-the-mill laptop could handle. Each time, I had to restart the game, which took another 10 minutes of my alleged play time. It didn't help. Of the remaining five minutes, I had to endure tooltip and other graphics lags. I never even finished a single turn before giving up. It was a Christmas gift from my son, and I'm just going to let him have his money back.

He jugado unos 30 minutos y, sinceramente, no me ha gustado nada. Los gráficos son muy simples, hasta el punto de parecer sacados de un juego de móvil, algo difícil de justificar hoy en día.

El sistema de gestión de ciudad resulta aburrido, y aunque intenta añadir complejidad, no consigue ser interesante ni atractivo; se siente más como una tarea que como una mecánica divertida.

El sistema de ejército es directamente absurdo, poco intuitivo y sin una lógica clara, lo que rompe cualquier sensación de estrategia o profundidad.

[h2]First Impressions[/h2]
First impressions were, unfortunately, not great; it felt like a cheap Temu Civ knockoff. The icons are inconsistent, the wild animals look almost like they forgot to take out placeholders, and they pop in and out of existence when you zoom.

The UI looks like it was designed for a mobile game, and fails to provide useful information in many cases. It's just not the most intuitive either, which considering how poorly explained some things are, is a problem. Even when you go into [strike]the Civilopedia[/strike] Encarta (OK, I quite liked that little nod) a lot of the information is surface deep and doesn't really cover mechanics that it would actually be useful to know.

However, once I'd got past that, I found there was quite a fun Civ-a-like with some interesting bits and a far less jarring era system than Civ 7.

[h2]After some 95-ish hours[/h2]
I can say I really like the way the map doesn't use hexes; not all regions are created equally. Some regions have more districts than others, and with the way some types of buildings buff others, it makes it almost like a little mini-game working out what to slot where.

Stability has been OK, I've had a handful of CTDs, only about half-a-dozen mind, and since the game auto-saves every turn you don't lose anything really, except time.

Though I'm not sure whether this is a bug or something odd - in my current game, I seem to have lost road access to an ally, Argentina, despite the fact that there's an abundance of roads connecting our civs, so I can no longer trade with them. I think it happened when I captured the Persian capital, when Canada took a couple of their other cities. This means I have a city which is surrounded by Canada on three sides and ocean on the fourth, and therefore has no direct road access to anyone other than Canada, including the rest of my civilisation. I wonder whether that's caused a quirk.

Which seems pretty weird if you consider Britain, at the height of empire, had land borders with nobody and somehow managed to do quite a lot of trade :| Seriously, sea trading doesn't seem to be a thing in Ara.

[h3]Combat[/h3]
The combat system is a bit basic; it does give you these nice little ways to put armies together from individual units, and gives you small bonuses for putting the right units in the right slots - and you can further boost those armies by adding a paragon character to lead them. So, it's more akin to Civ 7 in that respect... but, unlike post Civ 5 games where you can only have one unit/army on a tile, in Ara you can plop a load down like the doom stacks of old, and that removes some of the strategy and simply makes it into a "numbers go up" game. About the only thing to remember is to have artillery on hand once your opponents have city walls.

[h3]Then there's crafting[/h3]
This feels like a good idea which they just got carried away with. I quite like it in principle, take tailoring for instance. You have a resource such as wool, which you can craft into cloth (at a weaver or tailor) for a basic component to use to make say tunics - which provide a small boost to health (and I think prosperity) when equipped in one of the amenity slots on a city.

But from tunics you can get garments, which are essentially just upgraded tunics - and from there fine clothes. It's the same with food stuffs, there's preserved foods, dried foods, fresh foods, gourmet meals, basic cured meats and fish, grain stores... it really needs paring back a bit. Especially when you consider there are also slots in the buildings to provide additional buffs, that also take craftable goods.

You want to make fine clothes, and you do, they're one of the best boosters for cities, well, you're going to want to make looms or sewing machines to improve your tailors, which means you need to craft them, and they might require ore or metals, or cash. Oh, and tailors also get buffed from being in regions with religious buildings, so there's that to consider as well.

I do like the way that raw materials offer a choice - sheep for instance can be harvested for wool, or, erm, sheep (I'm gonna guess meat) depending on whether you need wool for tailors or meat for cured meat (for gourmet meals for instance). However, there are also Llamas which are basically identical from a functional standpoint. Then there are cows, pigs, and goats - all functionally similar. Just trim it back a bit.

There is one other [b]major[/b] problem with the crafting system however, and that's the interface. To increase the amount of an item you're wanting to produce, you have 2 options. You can click the plus or minus buttons to set the amount you want to produce/store (e.g. if you set iron ingots to 50, then that foundry will produce iron ingots until you have 50 in store). or you can set it to infinite.

The real problem with using the plus and minus buttons is that the game then seems to do some kind of global recalculation each time; which on a large map, in the later game, can take a second to run. So if you want to set your iron ingot limit to 50, that's 50 clicks, each of which take a while to process - which is absolutely tedious. There's no free-type box and the maximum value you can set is 99 ... which is incredibly annoying when there are "wonders" to build that might require 100 of some resources.

[h3]Winning[/h3]
The AI seems passable, but the win conditions are, odd. You basically need to accumulate enough prestige to pass each era, and ultimately have the most at the end of the game. However, eras progress based on scientific progress - so science determines when the game ends, but prestige determines who wins it.

One recommendation I'd make here, set the game speed to epic. It doubles the amount of time things take to research, which means your manufacturing and upgrades keep better pace with scientific advancement - so you might actually get to build some of those late-game units before the game ends.

There are loads of ways to get prestige, from population to religious spread, but they're not explained in any great depth, you can work it out though. However, I'm not sure how they're weighted - population seems to be the most important, and wonders less than you might think.

[h2]In conclusion[/h2]
If you like Civ with a hint of Anno - you might well enjoy Ara. It's not without its problems, but there is fun to be had, and it definitely has that "one more turn" feel to it.

I picked up Ara on Steam after initially playing it on GamePass earlier in the year - a lot of improvements were made since launch and I am happy with the direction the game is going. It does have a bit of a learning curve and it takes some time to figure everything out, but I think that's also part of the challenge and every game will be a bit different, depending on which resources are around you at the start and how you expand. For me the supply chains are a lot of fun; if you enjoy the Anno series and the earlier Civ games, I think you'll also enjoy this. Definitely worth to pick up when on sale!

W pewnych aspektach jest bardzo fajna, w pewnych bardzo irytująca Takie 50/50 . Gram od wersji 1.3 więc w recenzji będą pewne porównania do 2.0

- Fajna gra gospodarcza - bardzo szczegółowe zarządzanie gospodarką i łańcuchami dostaw
- Przepiękna grafika - chyba najlepsza ze wszystkich turówek
- Dodanie w wersji 2.0 możliwości kupowania regionów za punkty wpływów. Bardzo fajna zmiana, bardzo mądra, która czyni rozgrywkę bardziej strategiczną

Minusy
- Cały temat wojskowy to jedna wielka porażka. Bardzo nieczytelne odziały w oddaleniu. Nie można ogarnąć na całej mapie czy moje własne czy obce odziały zbliżają się do miast
- W przypadku bombardowania po kliknięciu na ikonkę często nie wchodzi polecenie albo z opóźnieniem
- Mało przejrzysty, nieintuicyjny system punktacji i walki - moje jednostki z najnowszej ery potrafią mieć problemy ze słoniami jak Ai raptem z kapelusza dowali ich do pieca - BARDZO IRYTUJĄCE
- Do dzisiaj dokładnie nie wiem jak działa ogień pośredni :)
- Nie można zatrzymać w żaden normalny sposób postępu prestiżu - mam ochotę podbić sąsiadów, ale szybciej wygram całą grę jak się włączy p...... zegar tur

- Pozostałości po pierwotnym pomyśle - do wersji 1.4 specjaliści robili się przy każdym skoku miasta więc można było zapełnić puste miejsca. Obecnie kończąc grę mam 3(słownie trzech!) specjalistów i dziesiątki pustych miejsc do obsadzenia... Coś zdecydowanie nie pykło pomiędzy wersją 1.0 a 2.0!
- Jest też problem w wersji 2,0 z rozwojem miast. Pewno z powodu kupowania regionów za pkt wpływu, ale miasta wolniej rosną w sensie zdobywania nowych regionów
- Przydałoby się nie tyle to co pojawiło się w wersji 2.0 czyli żeby ai za nas zajmowało się mikrozarządzaniem bo na tym ta gra polega, ale żeby pewne rzeczy móc robić szybciej. Np jednym ruchem myszki dodać jakieś akcelatory w usprawnieniach lub je usunąć. Zaczyna mi brakować miedzi więc jednym przyciskiem usuwam miedź jako akcelator np. ze wszystkich fabryk. W przypadku sytuacji kiedy jeden akcelator jest w większej liczbie usprawnień aby można było dodać/usunąć wszystkie dla danego usprawnienia - jak to możliwe, że przez 2 lata nikt na to nie wpadł?

Podsumowując - drodzy Twórcy musicie koniecznie usprawnić system wojny i walki, żeby było dokładnie wiadomo jakie jednostki na co wpływają. Aby to było bardziej intuicyjne. Do poprawienia jest jeszcze mnóstwo spraw w tej grze. Na zachętę daję znaczek na TAK ale tak w zawieszeniu.

Moim zdaniem gra powinna iść w kierunku na jakim była od początku - czyli gry gospodarczej z elementami wojny. Zrobienie z tego na siłę Humankind mija się z celem bo siłą Ary jest właśnie gospodarka.

This is generally a lot like Civilization, but it focuses a lot of micro managing cities. Each city can gradually "grow" to cover more districts, and each new district has room for typically around 4 buldings. A lot of buildings will give synergies to specific sorts of buildings, and a lot of them can/will produce different sorts of "crafting" items.
You have to figure out which buildings to put in each slot in each district in each city, in order to make each of them emphasize each others production - in raw materials or crafted items.

It's relatively heavy to learn, there's a lot of text to read about a lot of things, in order to understand how everything works.
I also think it's hard to get a good overview of what you have, what you need, what can and should be built where, and it feels tiresome more than interesting.

One thing that annoys me is getting a bunch of notifications about all sorts of small things every turn, and I can't find any way to turn off what I don't want.

Ayant commencé le jeu sur le tard, après la version 2.0, je trouve qu'Ara est un peu injustement noté. Pour ma part c'est un très bon 4x. Je ne suis pas encore très loin dans le jeu, je prends mon temps. Mais pour le moment je prends beaucoup de plaisir.
Je tiens juste à préciser que l'évolution des armées, la micro-gestion abusive, le manque d'équilibrage entre les différents chefs d'état et beaucoup de points jugés par le passé négatifs ont bien été assimilés et corrigés à l'heure actuelle.

Takes about 5 minutes to start up, on a PC that can run CP 2077 in 4k @ 120 with no issues in ultra with ray trace on.

The game will regularly crash, and the longer you play the more it will crash.

Ridiculously small maps, on the largest map size, I have a world that's barely a medium civ map.

Very messy manfacturing/production system that is very lacking in the UI.

Absolutely no balance for the manfacturing/production systems that makes no sense.

Horrible manfacturing/production system that does not even allow you to put global settings, or city default production so you need to sit and deal with the lag for +1/-1 +5/-5 increments wasting your life away instead of actually playing the game.

Massive UI lag, on the simplest things such as adding +1 or -1 on production.

Massive UI lag for everything when you get 15-20 cities.

UI sometimes update on the fly, and sometimes the turn after, this is silly and should all be on the fly as the income in example is comming next turn not this turn, there is no point in delaying the new effect from doing something.

Absolute brain dead AI that will build farms on quarries, and will run around with the lowest quality units even 500 turns into the game when the player is crusing around with tank (called modern armor) armies steam rolling all the AI.

Very bad, or straight up missing information about things you put into the encyclopedia.

Very bad starting locations (yes, still) in my last game I had 2 AIs on the largest map that started 4 and 6 areas away from my starting location.

Absolutely horrible upgrading system where you either have to use a bad UI table, or sit and do individual upgrading.

Naval Troop upgrade system that makes no sense, and removes previous eras units so for example right now I have 2 cog flotillas, with 4 cogs each, I cannot upgrade them to the next tier unit, I can only upgrade them to "Destroyers" because that is how some sherlock decided to design this,

Ground troops suffer from the same issue. There should simple be a upgrade or downgrade tab with options.

Pointless and toxic forced city que limitations, you can only que 8 things in a city at any and all times, so if you want to upgrade your cities one by one, good luck you can only do 8 upgrades and need to revisit the city over and over it's a toxic and anti-player mechanic that makes no sense at all unless you really hates the player and wants them to get annoyed and frustrated and simply start another game without idiot forced toxic mechanics.

Absolutely horrible building que system that mixes tier 1 2 and 3 in the same building lists.

No tech balance at all, as I was steam rolling AI after AI, I was progressing ages after age, and even the AIs on the other side of that map that was expanding and "Doing something?" - Could not manage to do a tech every 3-4 turns as a player does.

Way to fast tech progression in my 40 turn war I progressed 3 ages and went from axe wielding idiots to tanks when the war was over, and this was on one of the slower tech speeds.

Classical annoying AI city spam, if there is a free square somewhere the idiot AI -will- go and place a net loss city there and hamper it's own larger cities growth/production/expansion.

Limited options with generate wealth/knowledge production that could use conditions, such as "Do this until next upgrade tech is unlocked for the city" - A very easy check to add.

Missing QoL for removing/spreading own religion, should have some basic setting such as "do this forever" or "do this for 10 turns" or do this until % of foreign % is > or < then % instead of another pointless time of waste your life away check over and over.

Pointless and horrible merchant/trade system, that is just wow levels of bad in any way shape or form.

Horrible "Great create wonder system"

Really bad amenity system, that could be good, but is bad due to there is always "Best in slot in this order" - So you can ignore manfacturing/production system and only do the best items, the worse items are pointless.

Classical raze and rebuild for min/max efficiency for every city to make solo large cities that simple create insane numbers of X or Y.

The amount of issues that this game suffers from, is just atronomical, and it does sit as a very steep price, without the quality to back up the price so I'm just going to finish up before I hit the max amount of characters used in this review. If you can get on a very high sale as I did it, you might get some hours out of it in the end and make it worth it. But at full price with all the issues I mentioned and the 100 issues I do not have time/space to mention it's not.

Last words:

The new toxic game developer Scamdock Entertainment, that is instead of helping users with their issues are using the steam forums as a "farm" to get people to join the Scamdock Entertainment discord for support on a game that is released on steam so they can promote their own mediocre products.

A hyper-detailed Civ experience for those of us who enjoy customising everything - from richly modelled supply chains to naming provinces and seas. The world feels alive: zoom in and you can literally follow your citizens as they go about their lives. I joined the party after release 2.02, and the level of polish since then has been excellent. Every civilisation now has real personality and replay value, and many old bugs (or QoL issues!) have been resolved. A great deal of love has gone into this game, and it shows. Let’s hope it continues to grow into the promising 4X competitor it was born to be, especially now that Civ VII has disappointed so many of us.

I think game is great. I played only few hours but I love it
I love that you can not advance research until you enter new era
I love that cities loose population when they make new units
I like that you have to balance your cities or you will start loosing pop
I like combat system and army movement
Even changing of cultures is not bad idea it seems logical
And this is only start I didnt even learn all aspects
I think it will make great Multiplayers far better thjen civ 6

Map is small, growth is slow, relationship AI is weird (country across the map will declare war on you, meanwhile country that just declared war on you will offer you massive relationship bi-lateral defense treaty 5 turns after the war ends)

If you just want a lazy weekend civ itch scratcher on sale, its not bad.

[b]Ara: History Untold[/b] to bardzo dobry tytuł z gatunku gier strategicznych (turowych) będącą pod wieloma względami bardzo zbliżoną wariacją współczesnych gier z serii Sid Meier’s Civilization (zwłaszcza ich ostatnich dwóch części) w dużym stopniu skupionej na aspekcie ekonomicznym (mniejszym na dyplomacji i sprawach militarnych) w tym rozbudowy i zarządzania poszczególnymi pomniejszymi produkcyjnymi regionami waszego stale rozwijającego się imperium. Produkcja w której możecie wcielić się w ikoniczne historyczne postacie ze świata jak np. Jerzego Waszyngtona, Katarzynę Wielką czy nawet Mikołaja Kopernika reprezentującego Polskę itp., stworzyć za ich pośrednictwem nową alternatywną wizję historii w której to wy będziecie jej głównym motorem.

Z pewnością nie jest to tytuł dla każdego, to bardziej ukłon w stronę fanów gier strategiczno-ekonomiczny, głównie serii Civilization – i tu nie do końca rozumiem „po co?!” skoro jej główny konkurent oferuje znacznie lepszą zabawę, większą zawartość oraz możliwości aniżeli wyżej recenzowany twór i to za relatywnie mniejsze pieniądze.

Gra skupiająca się na głównie rozgrywce dla pojedynczego gracza (możliwa jest też gra wieloosobowa), którego zadaniem (jak już wspominałem wyżej) będzie rozwój w szerokim tego słowa znaczeniu, wybranej przez gracza jednej z wielu dostępnych w grze historycznych cywilizacji. A co za tym idzie budowaniu i późniejszym rozwoju miast, podległych nim prowincji (dystryktów), dostosowaniu ich pod własne potrzeby gospodarcze/produkcyjne, tworząc surowce z których będą urzeczywistniać się nowe technologiczne odkrycia w tym pozwalające ulepszyć wasze jednostki. Po rozwoju samej technologii podzielonej na poszczególne epoki oraz dbaniu o swoich mieszkańców. Starając się doprowadzić waszą cywilizację do punktu zwycięstwa nad innymi rywalizującymi w tym samym czasie nacjami – którzy dają i będą o sobie dawać znać (nie zawsze w tej dobrej strony) i nie zawahają się aby wbić wam sztylet w plecy. To rywalizacja, powinniście zawsze to tym pamiętać bo na końcu zwycięzca może być tylko jeden.

Co do kwestii technicznych oprawa audiowizualna jest dobra, sterowanie jest banalnie proste, interfejs dosyć rozbudowany ale po pewnym czasie można się do tego przyzwyczaić. Gra posiada polską lokalizację (napisy), jak i dobrze przygotowany praktyczny samouczek.

Poco despues de se lanzo este juego lo jugue mediante gamepass Pc y al principio si me parecio un tanto complicado y confuso por mas atencion que le ponia acada parte de la gestion, antier lo he comprado esperando a entenderle mejor y esperando que le hayan hecho ajustes y actualizaciones y me parece que si ha sido mejorada la experiencia de juego, lo digo por que la vez anterior despues de no mucho ya queria dejarlo pero me aferraba a avanzar sin mucho exito ni satisfaccion, pero ahora que lo juego nuevamente siento esa sensacion de un tiro mas, no llevo mucho tiempo en esta nuevo inicio y espero siga encontrado mejoras en las mecanicas de juego.

En conclusion ha mejorado y lo recomiendo generosamente.

Enjoyable... the games are a bit too long and there's quite a lot of micro-managing. But the emphasis on producing goods is interesting and I enjoy exploring the map, setting up good cities, and creating the supply chain needed to make things. To me it was well worth the money on sale for sure.

Ara is a great Civ alternative 4X game, taking the usual exploration and expansion gameplay and mixing in resource and supply chain management a la Anno. Its systems are surprisingly deep and, while they take some getting used to, things quickly make sense once you get your hands on the game. There's also a pretty useful tutorial to help you get a hang of the basics.

Its biggest strength is definitely how it handles resources and goods. You have a lot of control over how your cities develop and specialize, and I don't think I've played a 4X game as profoundly shaped by the resources and terrain in your starting area as Ara - and this is a good thing! The way supply chains evolve over time manages to accomplish two huge things that 4X games often struggle with: it makes each game feel materially different, and it makes the late game actually interesting to play.

If you like fiddling with systems, or if you like "bullets vs beans" strategy games, then I think you'll find something really special with Ara. However, the price for these deep systems is that other areas of the game can feel shallow or opaque to the player, namely diplomacy and warfare.

Diplomacy is largely binary, as you don't have many options to interact with AI civilizations. There's theoretically some interesting stuff you can do with bribes, but I found the AI especially resistant to making any deals unless you're clearly ahead of them, at which point you don't really need to bother with them much. In particular, my experience was that they seem hard-wired to not accept agreements of any kind unless you have both a large army and a navy. Technological and economic superiority don't seem to be understood by the AIs. At the same time, they don't seem very good at working together, and it'd be a welcome change if they could understand how to build coalitions against larger powers, especially a player that's getting ahead. At the same time, when war breaks out battles themselves can be quite confusing at a glance as to who's winning and why.

The resource systems could also do with a bit of tweaking to make it clearer and more coherent. National limits on buildings don't scale very well into the late game, which I found especially bad with cobblers and tanneries, which never could make enough shoes to outfit my empire with fine clothes. They're not mission-critical or highly advantageous, but they're strictly limited - why? The same goes for the Mint, which can only be built once, and to a slightly lesser degree trading posts, which never get an Act 3 upgrade. I think it'd also be helpful if resource production/consumption tooltips were broken down some more: how much of a good am I making/using in a certain city? How much am I getting in trade agreements?

Finally, the civilizations themselves are much shallower than what you'd find in Civ 5, 6, or 7. They don't seem to have unique architecture types, and their abilities resemble Civ 4 more than anything - which can be good or bad! Each leader/civ feels unique in some way, but a little more differentiation, especially in graphics and AI personalities, would go a long way. It'd also be better if cities always used your civ's name pool, because it feels weird to be playing as Germany and see my neighbor Greece settle a city called Dortmund, and then settle myself a new city named Corinth.

Overall, Ara is a very fun and unique game that fits into a new generation of great 4X Civilization-likes, along with Old World.

I Played ARA 70 hours. Nice artist work but poor game design concerning Diplomacy and Technology tree. Diplomatic relations are treated in a very basic way and are very repetitive. Technology tree is a nonsense as there is no strategy available. The overall feeling is a nice looking car with a poor engine. Humankind, Old World and Civ offer a much better strategy diversity and game experience.

Hat das Spiel Schwächen? Ja, definitiv! Sind sie gravierend? Nein, und die meisten sind behebbar, wie etwa die teils mäßige KI-Übersetzung der Texte ins Deutsche. Die größte Schwäche ist das Kampfsystem, das nicht selbsterklärend ist, sondern an einigen Stellen missverständlich, wie zum Beispiel, dass Fernkampfeinheiten Schaden erhalten, wenn eigene Nahkampf-Einheiten mit voller Kampfstärke vorhanden sind, und der Gegner selber nur Nahkampf-Einheiten hat (Weil der erhaltene Schaden gleichmäßig über alle Einheiten verteilt wird).

Ansonsten ist das Spiel sehr vielseitig, und muss sich nicht vor den Granden des Genres verstecken, im Gegenteil, meiner Meinung nach ist das Spiel besser als Civ6 und Civ7! Der Technologiebaum ist ausbalanciert, der Ausbau der Städte ist vielseitig, die Ressourcenauswahl gibt eine Tiefe, die andere Spiele zuletzt stark haben vermissen lassen.

39 hours for a single playthrough... epic! The supply chain management can be a bit micro intensive. Although I think the latest update improved that aspect. When the cursor goes over parts of the UI, the musical tone is in harmony with the background music... nice little touch. Beautiful graphics and no performance issues. However, my fans ran a bit higher during gameplay. I would recommend Ara if you like both Civ and Anno.

I played this during the free weekend, and I initially thought that it was a good mirror to Civilization, but the seer amount of micromanagement required for this game to progress is insane! There is a function to allow "shopkeepers" to run things, but it sets a terrible limit for production. It was good for initial runs, and a little less of a learning curve than Civilization games, but it is too tedious. Overall not for me.

un jeu qui a franchement un potentiel immense mais qui pour l'instant n'est clairement pas finis.
Point faible:
-Le multijoueur est lent
-Les mécaniques sont parfois hasardeuse
-Les sauvegardes multijoueur complétement bugger
-Un manque cruel d'optimisation
-Des IA avec un pattern redondant
Point Fort:
-Gameplay intéressant qui tiens sur la durée
-Une variété de gameplay assez large
-Des graphismes correct (peut encore être améliorer)
-Des mécaniques très intéressante (peut aussi être améliorer)
-Un système d'Age assez long mais qui peut-être intéressant

En résumer Ara History Untold est pour moi encore loin d'être un excellent jeu mais il possède un potentiel énorme. à suivre...

但是操作上很不直覺，某些介面感覺起來礙手礙腳的，新手教學的圖文解說不足，常常不知道要按哪個按鈕，也常常不知道自己做完教程了沒有
而且很快地就會其他電腦AI打擾，沒有一個人值得你的友善，友誼的小船說翻就翻
可部署的軍隊上限又不太能讓你一勞永逸，永遠清除這個威脅
很抱歉，我沒有那個耐心繼續玩下去

I have played most civ-like games over the years and I consider Ara to be one of the worst. It is badly designed, unintuitive and with a half-baked tutorial. It also features some weird national leader choices, eg. Australia is led by a pathologist.

Examples of bad/unintuitive game design:
* The map is divided into regions, regions are divided into several zones (3-5). Only 1 building can be built in a zone and some buildings boost some building types in a region. This makes regions vastly unbalanced.
* Researching Animal Husbandry unlocks cutting down trees
