Great story, but gameplay is quite boring.
AquaNox 2: Revelation, developed by Massive Development and published by THQ Nordic, continues the series’ dive into the world beneath the waves, building on the foundation of its predecessor while delivering a new story and refined approach to underwater combat. Set in a dystopian future where humanity has long abandoned the surface, the game follows William Drake, a freighter pilot thrust into a journey to uncover the secrets of his ancestry. Along the way, he encounters mercenaries, mysterious factions, and hostile forces lurking in the deep. It is both a continuation of the AquaNox vision and a self-contained adventure that players can approach without prior knowledge of the first game.
One of the strongest aspects of AquaNox 2 is its atmospheric world. The environments are vast and varied, ranging from expansive underwater canyons to claustrophobic cave systems and eerie ruins of sunken civilizations. Each level conveys a sense of decay and forgotten history, reinforcing the narrative backdrop of humanity’s fractured survival beneath the sea. The visuals, while dated by modern standards, were impressive at the time of release, with moody lighting, shifting shadows, and water effects that heightened immersion. Its an older game but still looks and plays great, also works out of the box on windows 11 AND supports widescreen and 1440p with zero changes. Graphics again still look great, controls are tight, gameplay feels modern, story is interesting, missions are varied... play it.

While far more playable than the original it's overly bought into it's own lore even to the detriment of the pacing and spacing to allow players to actually play the game.
I do not think this has aged well at all, but there are so few games set underwater that I just kind of accept the game as is. It's a decent sequel and has some fun combat. The environments are are a bit more bland than expected.

Absolutely a gem from another era. Beautiful, yet dated in every way. Worth playing for the story and meeting the characters. Plays well enough, but needs to be adapted to the controls.

Очень достойный аркадный шутанчик для своего времени. Возможно, не хватает свободного режима, вариативности в прохождении, разнообразия корыт (как своих, так и противника), дополнительных заданий кот наплакал. Минусов хватает, но аркадность игры, ее геймплейная несерьёзность и затягивающая сюжетная затравка прощают если не все, то многое.
Сюжетно это самая последняя игра. Вышедшее в 2020 году недоразумение является предысторией Archimedean Dynasty, которое к тому же ломает всю логику этой серии игр, но это уже другая история. А так достойная история получилась, которая скорее всего не будет закончена, т.к. продолжения не намечается [spoiler] а так хотелось бы увидеть сладкую Мей Лин, готов отвалить любые гроши за такое продолжение истории ( тем более в конце игры намекается, что один старый "знакомый" все таки выжил, и он нам даст еще проср@ться) [/spoiler]

Знаете....в этих играх есть то чего нет в современных играх.А именно жажда создать что то новое. Не сидеть на закаленных временем формулах. Это и побудило меня попробовать эту игру. Сейчас все только и делают что клепают игры с большими картами и с проверенным временем геймплеем. Не поймите меня не правильно я не против таких игр.Но разработчики забыли ,что они могут создать большее и я не про карты если что.Грустно видеть как даже 1000 человек не могут создать что то хотя бы играбельное. The ship's physics is like other non-underwater 6DOF and space shooters. Though it would me more accurate to say that physics in most space shooters have underwater physics...
From the 2 and a half hours of my very precious time I have wasted, because my temper just couldn't take more of this game, this is what I have concluded:
Compared to the first game, it has huge graphical improvements and much better controls.
However, it still plays like ass.
The missions are stupid, the enemies and some gameplay elements are very unbalanced, and the game does everything it can in its willpower to rape your ass with a sandpaper and fill it up with salt.
Aquanox 2 – Revelation is a postapocalyptic underwater sci-fi FPS submarine fighter game, generally inspired by the “Descent” series. Being the second instalment (or third if you count “Schleichfahrt”) of the series, it has improved on nearly all weaknesses of its predecessor although falling short of continuing the story of the series. Instead, Revelation chose to narrate its own plot parallel to the events of part 1, with a different style in both, setting and story development. Again, like in Aquanox, humanity is trapped in the sea after obliterating Earth’s surface in an all-out nuclear war a few centuries ago. People are having a hard time coping with life under the pressure of water in thousand meter’s depth. Big cities and transport hubs were built on neuralgic points but the population mostly engages in organised gang crimes, piracy and other sorts of shady business. Warring political factions pose a threat to public safety and a central authority is missing. The protagonist is a young descendent of a one wealthy and influential trader family, looking for some adventure and then gets his ship stolen by a gang of pirates. The story from that point on develops quite interesting with twists and turns, although some of if can be anticipated.
After about 10 hours play time, here’s my pros/cons list:
Pros:
+ great, dark underwater style
+ in my view more credible setting
+ slight improvements of graphics
+ better manoeuvrability of ships
+ mouse speed issues solved
+ more varied landscapes
+ variety of missions requiring different approaches
+ ship upgrades salvageable after each mission and through bonus objectives
+ optional side quests with meaningful extra rewards
+ auto aim (game menu functionality) and aim assistance (in-game mechanic) make the dogfights much fairer and fun
+ a decent story with twists and turns in its progression
+ less crazy, more eerie music
+ character development, especially of the protagonist
+ relationship dynamics between characters
+ more variety in city design although only 2D
+ look inside the dwellings
+ graphics look quite OK even 20 years later
Cons:
- Frame rate issues at start of every mission
- Some major level design recycling from part 1
- Lots of asset recycling as well
- Bonus objectives of missions can only be seen after finishing
- Some story twists can be anticipated
- End of story in my view artificially dragged on
- Maze level at the end of the game
- Equipment, ship improvement and trade system really minimalistic, could have been much more interesting and having a bigger impact
- Most ship designs realistically speaking unfit for underwater use
- Some characters and their behaviour a bit too stereotypical (Angelina, Stoney)
- Confusing, convoluted, open story end, feels like many things were crammed into it for which developers were ultimately missing time to implement at the game
Conclusion:
The second instalment is a much better, well-rounded game compared to its predecessor, especially in terms of dogfight mechanics, mission and landscape variety as well as the main story. It still has some minor issues although they can be overlooked. Anyone who likes the setting and underwater submarine fights, should try it out.

Как Фрилансер, но под водой, хардкорный и с очень непродуманным геймплеем. На девку с постера не ведитесь, это байт, в игре ее нет. В целом к старым играм отношусь хорошо, в них еще не было донатных помоек, лутбоксов, скинов и повестки, а кинематики и сюжеты еще были... Но бывает так, что в старой игре никто не продумывал, как вообще в такое играть.
- Всё надо настроить под себя. Подсказываю: переключиться с симуляторного управления на шутерное, с инерции на мгновенную реакцию и снизить чувствительность мыши в 2 раза - вот тогда вы хотя бы сможете управлять. В ином случае у вас просто будет камера крутиться волчком.
- Почти всё, что вы видите в начальных миссиях - это черный экран. Ни в одной хоррор-игре нет такой бессмысленной кромешной тьмы, здесь вы не видите вообще почти ничего.
- Ну а когда что-то видно, то вся эта игра - коричневая. В ней коричневая вода, коричневое дно, коричневый интерфейс, да и люди в общем-то тоже.
- Каждая миссия проходится на самом деле за 5-10 минут. Контент в игре мизерный. Но чтобы ты не прошел его слишком быстро, на тебе, дорогой, кривые маркеры и ничего не значащие задания в духе "сходи туда не знаю куда, но остерегайся снайперов". КУДА мне плыть?! Потом оказалось - что в начальную точку, но сделав огромный крюк через вражескую базу. Это доктор Финч так нашла "безопасный путь" вместо того, чтобы вернуться 200 м по прямой. Каждая миссия будет перезапускаться по 10 раз, не только из-за сложности, а потому что тебе надо изучить методом проб и ошибок, почти без миникарты, как устроен уровень, где тебя убьют, куда плыть и что делать.
- Нигде не будет так сложно, как в начальных миссиях: абсолютно косое никчемное оружие, жирные враги, отсутствие ремонта и автонаведения. Чистый хардкор.
- Хочешь выполнить доп. задачу всего лишь 3-й миссии? Вот тебе почти неуязвимого врага, который выдерживает 2 торпеды в лоб, убивает тебя с 3-4 выстрелов и никогда не промахивается.
- На тебе, дружок, снайперку, круто, да? Но попасть из нее шанс около 5%. А например турель она уничтожает с 30 выстрелов. Очень веселый геймплей, правда? Кемперить по турели из-за угла туда-сюда.
- Хочешь просто выключить игру? Ну отлови повисший черный экран, можешь перезагружать комп. Поэтому чтобы просто выйти, ты должен использовать диспетчер задач.
- И настройка совместимости с Win XP здесь не поможет.
По сюжету:
- Герой отправился "повидать мир" в одиночку! На здоровенной подлодке! В опаснейшую эпоху! Как он один всем этим управлял и что он хотел увидеть в кромешной тьме на глубине 5 км среди руин и пиратов?
- Львиная доля сюжета сводится к тому, что тебя на твоем же корабле опускают все подряд, потому что они его захватили, а ты молчи в тряпочку. Герой никак не пытается решать эту проблему, он просто сразу принял свое место под шконкой.
- Визуалка не предполагает никакого выбора и решений.
- Зато содержит смысловые ошибки. Бармен кучу раз повторяет, что у него сплошной ядерный алкоголь, но герой продолжает спрашивать у него всякий кефир. Ты тупой? Стоуни в первом городе говорит, что Мэй Лин на нас запала, когда оснований для этого нет, зато потом, когда они есть, смеется над такой возможностью. И герой этой возможностью не спешит пользоваться - и Мэй, и прочие женщины предлагают себя, а он такой: "Ааа... Эээ... Ну я лучше пойду". Отвратительный ОЯШ. В 14 такое поведение типично, и то не для всех, но он мужик молодой. Ну допустим он ненавидит ее как узурпатора, но как минимум, через отношения с ней он повысит свои шансы на выживание.
Единственное, что можно сказать хорошего, - к игре отдельно скачивается нормальная русская локализация 2013 года, т.е. она появилась через 10 лет после выхода игры. У Мэй там правда голос как у старой путаны, но в целом это сойдет. Знаете какой перевод был раньше? Как во Фрилансере. Весь текст был переведен с немецкого кошмарным автопереводом того времени, но голосовых движков тогда почти не существовало, и живой человек должен был начитывать положенный ему на стол абсолютно ничего не значащий набор слов. А теперь хотя бы на Ютюбе можно посмотреть и узнать, о чем хоть была игра.

This is a borderline thumbs up for me.
Aquanox 2 is a weird contrast of very strong aethetics & ahead-of-its time storytelling against frustratingly clunky gameplay.
I love the niche "cybergrunge" art style the devs have done a great job of keeping consistent throughout every element of the game - even the settings menus are beautifully illustrated and animated - the visual design of this game is 9/10.
The storytelling sections in between missions is also great - it has a novel semi-open rpg style navigation system that I've never seen done in quite the same way and all the dialogue is fully voice acted, many of the actors actually being quite good (rare for an indie studio like this, especially in 2003). The world and story are pretty immersive too.
However, the core gameplay (the combat missions) lets the rest down badly. Controls are clunky, movement is slow, difficulty is inconsistent. Even when I did well on a mission, I found the only satisfaction from it was the relief of getting it out of the way so I could get back to the narrative part of the game.
I hit my limit when I got stuck on a boss level that requires you to finish the rest of a mission before every attempt; it was too much of a slog to feel worthwhile to me, so that was the end of my time with Aquanox 2.
It's very unusual that I would give a thumbs up to a game I didn't enjoy enough to finish, but this game is such a mixed bag that I felt like it just about merits the thumbs up for the quality of its better elements. If the action gameplay had been refined just a bit more, this could have been a great game.
The game's biggest positive is the specific atmosphere of the world. For young players, the outdated approach to completing missions may be an insurmountable wall (no room for creativity, missions like "Dr. Finch" can effectively discourage even though it's all downhill from there)

AquaNox 2: Revelation is an ancient game from 2003. It's a whopping 21 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for any modern gaming display resolutions (or widescreen monitors), hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on modern gaming PCs. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an ancient game. This seems to have been put on Steam as a nostalgia gouge, or just a cash grab to try profit from abandonware.
It was a first person shooter where you control a submarine and blast enemy submarines with a variety of weapons... cool enough, and if this wasn't completely broken it could get a maybe.
Unethically, the developers have left this on the Steam store in an unplayable and broken state.
I should stress you can get the game to run if you download some third party patches off the internet... but this is a burden and a risk that gamers should never need to accept. It's the responsibility of the developer to maintain their product, ensure it runs on all modern PCs, or if they determine there's defects and the game doesn't work, they should remove it from sale instead of misleadingly trying to scam gamers into buying knowingly defective products.
This is harmful to Steam and to gamers, not just because it's a direct and intentional attempt to scam people, but because it takes a share of the marketing space and visibility away from other games. It's polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuine games and for genuine indie developers who put months or years into making proper games find an audience.
The game never really caught on with the millions of gamers on Steam, with a very low peak player count close to launch, and then just a handful of players launching this game every couple of days. This is undoubtedly caused by factors such as those raised in this review. It's always helpful with buying decisions to consider how popular and successful the product is, and unfortunately while this did accumulate a few participation trophy reviews, overall, people just aren't using it.
So, should you buy this broken, unplayable attempt at a nostalgia gouge? Of course not.
The developer is deliberately and unethically trying to scam gamers into paying them the cash grab price of $5 USD for a game they know is broken. Don't give it to them.

- the cool underwater cyberpunk setting is completely underutilized
- boring as hell story
- what the ♥♥♥♥ is with the writing of the characters?
- needs a janky hack in order to support widescreen, whereas aquanox 1 worked fine straight out of the box

- difficulty varies wildly between missions
- the ui is somehow even worse compared to aquanox 1
- everything is brown and piss yellow instead of the unique blue / green color scheme of aquanox 1

Back when it came out, this game’s art cover was the first one to ever make me want to hump my monitor. There have been many more since.
The AquaNox games have probably some of the best world building in gaming history. This game could have been a classic with a little more work.
I had to play this game twice to the end the first time I played it, just because of how much I loved the story. The gameplay is ok, what really elevates this game is it's setting and worldbuilding. Such a perfect rendition of an underwater-cyberpunk world. The german voice acting was also really good and carried the mood quite a bit. Sadly, the english version isn't that convincing.
Despite its flaws and age I still enjoyed, having just finished a play-through after 10 years last week. If it's ever on sale, you should definitely give it a try.

Aquanox 2 was one of the first games I ever played on PC. I recently found myself on a nostolgia binge and after reading the polarized reviews decided to buy and play through it again.
Short review: If you are a fan of aquanox, old fps games, or naval warfare in a dark setting I expect you will like this game. If none of these apply to you, skip.
Detailed:
Graphics: The graphics are fantastic for a 20+ year old game. The enviroments are much more interesting and detailed than the store screenshots would have you belive, and the menus and UI are great. The cutscenes are... good enough. The game also supports up to 4k without problems.
Sound: The sound design is great, and every character is fully voice acted. Some of the voice acting is a bit weak, but the the main character (+Nat and Amitab) are voiced really well. Overall I found the sound really immersed me in the world and people. As for the soundtrack... its perfection. Nothing more to say.
Story: The story starts with some very interesting mysteries and adds more along the way. It's competently written (aside from a few plot holes here and there) but unfortunately not all the mysteries get answered (the ending sets up for a sequel that never came). At points it can actually be pretty funny in "twisted metal" goofy sort of way.
Gameplay: This is the tough part. The game is fun, when you arent waiting around. Unfortunately most of the missions start with an escort or waiting, and end with hard fights. Whenever you die you restart the whole mission. Some missions are easily up to 30 mins long. Not fun. The customization is also limited and feels half baked at times, almost as if there was more planned but they scrapped it. The sub controls like an fps game, and handles well (do NOT touch SIM mode, and make sure your sensitivity is way down).
Vibe: Everything comes together to create an atmospheric experience in a strange and unique setting... when you aren't breaking your keyboard in half because a laser just insta-killed you 25 minutes into a mission.

It unfortunately also doubled-down on all its weaknesses: Terrible and unconvincing voice acting, long stretches of missions with your only objective being to wait around, combined with no checkpoints during missions, some incredibly unclear objectives, and a story that baffles the mind and challenges the player to follow its progress with language that stretches the definition of English. In particular, this game is pretentiously poetic in a way that feels poorly translated. I started to go crazy after so many retries of a few missions. Not exactly a recommendation, but I still enjoyed myself.

Ich kann es nur empfehlen. Ja,es ist ein shooter, aber der macht sehr viel spass. Vor allem aber sind die texte und die story gut geschrieben und vertont. Das findet man heute nicht oftt, besonders auf deutsch.

Ein Meisterwerk. Es ist mir unbegreiflich wie ein Publisher mit Titeln wie Aquanox und Gothic, insolvent gehen konnte.
Diese Spiele haben meine Kindheut definiert, darum hab ich sie mir extra nochmal auf Steam gekauft (comfort halber und weil die CDs nicht mehr ganz so gut laufen).
Meiner Meinung nach eine Spielereihe die es sich sogar heute noch lohnt zu spielen. Nicht weil es übermenschlich krasse grafik hat sondern einfach das Grundkonstrukt.
Geladene Action, Ruhe phasen so wie puren Stress. Coole Charaktere, nette Story (wenn auch nicht die beste) und derbe Dialoge. Die Dialoge faszinieren mich. Also ich kenne kein anderes Spiel in dem ich von irgend nem Junky den ich weg gepustet habe Hur****hn genannt werde xD

Ich habe mal das Manko gehört das die Synchronsprecher wohl nicht so gut sind.
Spiele grad wieser Aquanox 1 und die Aussage ist totaler ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Die synchro (zumindest im deutschen wo das Spiel auch her kommt) ist zum Teil sogar besser als heutige AAA games.
Dieses Spiel war zu damaliger Zeit revolutionär und ich finde das man es sogar heute noch gut spielen kann.
Klar die Grafik ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und nicht sehr farbenfroh.
Doch ist man mehrere Tausend Meter unter dem Meeresspiegel. Düster, kalt, erdrückend... alles dinge die, die Entwickler 1A eingefangen haben.
Kurz und knapp. Kaufen, spielen, genießen. Ein hoch auf die Nostalgie!

Я люблю игры про подводный мир, но таких игр, к сожалению, мало, так что Aquanox 2 меня сразу заинтересовала. Я не ожидал от игры чего-то интересного, думая, что это типичный шутер начало нулевых в необычном сеттинге, но был сильно удивлен.
Итог для ленивых: [spoiler]неплохой шутер с интересным сюжетом и персонажами, хорошей музыкой и атмосферой, но с весьма средненьким и довольно хардкорным геймплеем, рекомендую любителем подобных шутеров [/spoiler]
Графика: она целостная и смотрится весьма неплохо, вне битв графика двухмерная и смотрится симпатично даже сейчас. Но стоит похвалить атмосферу: ты прямо чувствуешь атмосферу неизведанных и мрачных глубин, а эмбиент сильнее дополняет эту атмосферу, при просмотре навверх ты видишь лучи солнца проходящие через толщу воды и сильнее ощущаешь глубину на которой находишься. Сами локации однообразны, хотя и интересные тоже есть(Тот же Неополис, наример), но хорошая атмосфера вполне перекрывает этот недостаток.
Сюжет: он типичен, но благодаря интересным персонажам, неплохой постановке и музыке, ты до конца не отлипаешь от экрана (я часто получал больше удовольствия от общения с персонажами после боев, нежели от самих боев) .
Музыка и звук: музыка тут неплохая: эмбиент хороший и прекрасно подчеркивает атмосферу, песни играющие во врем боев тоже неплохи, а некоторые треки (Тот же revelation) очень хороши и в купе с хорошей постановкой вовсе вызывает мурашки по коже. Также отдельно хочу похвалить русскую озвучку (которую придется ставить отдельно, ведь в стим версии её нет :( ) – она очень хороша! Актеры подобраны хорошо и отлично отыгрывают свои роли, а некоторые голоса на русском, по мне, вышли лучше чем в английском (тот же Стоуни, к примеру).
Геймплей: а вот тут уже есть проблемы…
Сам по себе геймплей тут весьма типичен, если вы играли хотя вы в один космошутер, то вы играли и в эту игру. Враги здесь не очень умные, но их всегда больше и они бьют очень больно, особенно под конец. Вооружение здесь много и оно разнообразное, некоторые виды вооружения, полученные в начале игры, остаются полезными даже в последних уровнях (Вендета-снайпер, который уничтожает врага с первого попадания, если попасть в кабину); отстреливать врагов тут весело, НО все портит сложность, которая часто не зависит от навыков игрока: враги могут появится из неоткуда и сразу сбить половину здоровья игрока, они могут начать стрелять в игрока сразу после выхода из базы, на уровнях нет автосейва, что не вызывало бы проблем, если бы не некоторые из миссий, которые идут очень долго (например миссия сопровождения в начале игры, где ты сопровождаешь большой корабль в течении 7-8 минут, а после умираешь из-за большой оравы врагов, которые сразу вышибли тебе все ХП и снова приходится ждать эти 7-8 минут, чтобы снова умереть…), так же здесь нет нормалных индикаторов доп. заданий из-за чего понять, что нужно сделать для их выполнения без помощи гайдов – нереально. Но играть в aquanox 2 все равно приятно, особенно радуют миссии, которые можно пройти 2 путями (например пробиться силой или вырубить турели, а потом уже штурмовать остальных ) или где не нужно стрелять (отключение защиты музея). Так же здесь есть боссы , которые весьма хардкорные, но особым разнообразием не блещут (кроме Бионта).
Техническая часть: не смотря на свой возраст игра работает на современных системах отлично! Она спокойно взяла разрешение Full Hd безо всяких танцев с бубнем и работает без лагов и артефактов. Единственное, что мне пришлось сделать самому – ставить русификатор, но это уже проблема стим версии, а не игры.

Tanto o Aquanox 1 como o 2, é bem esquisito para se jogar. Não se se na época foi bom, quando lançou, mas em pleno 2023, não recomendo esse jogo.
I like the fact that I can get this version to load and run on a windows 10 platform but the boxed version with a CD gives a math64.dll missing error and wont even install. I like the underwater combat however I was unable to get the lateral thrusters to work no matter which joystick option I chose. I used the lateral thrusters often in the Boxed CD version so don't know why they don't work here, maybe they had to choose between making them work on game controller or a joystick and assumed most customers would use the xbox style game controller. I have played all the way through several times and the only time I have had a crash is when I alt tab to another window so it is overall stable.
Если честно даже не знаю как правильно оценить Revelation, так как определиться смог только с жанром. Для меня это визуальная новелла с элементами интерактивного тира. Так что если вы любители симуляторов и 3d action сразу мимо. Вообще по сравнению с оригиналом произошло много упрощений, в том числе в экономической модели и боевой системе, мы теперь вольны совершать перевороты и т.д. Графика стала хуже, точнее исчезла красочная мультяшность, но это играет на руку сюжету ведь он стал гораздо серьезнее. История Дрейка и его похитителей пронизана потерями близких и погоней за несбыточными мечтами, а пресловутые слезы ангела хоть и оказываются реальностью, но также являются самой настоящей метафорой. Чисто геймплейно стало легче, но бесят напарники мрущие как мухи, что тоже не идет в плюс игре. А вот музыка по прежнему хороша эмбиент и роцк часто попадают прямо в яблочко. В итоге получился негативный обзор (с обоснованными претензиями), но почему то продолжение я прошёл куда с большим удовольствием чем первый AquaNox. Поставлю те же 6.0 рекомендовать не стану, но если хотите попробовать серию, советую пройти именно Revelation, как то так.

Das Gameplay ist so ultra gut ABER ich hatte ganz vergessen, wie nervig diese kitschige und viel zu esoterische Story ist. Warum konnten sie nicht einfach eine Schleichfahrt Kopie daraus machen? Leider macht die Action zu viel Spass.

The graphics improved from the previous game, but the world looks kinda empty and dead in this one. The menu also has been made a lot more complex, but that only means more clicking around for the boring dialogues.
Gameplay wise it's mostly the same, but most weapons are now dual mounted.
The story seems just as boring, so I stopped paying attention.
What made me stop playing are the terrible missions. Every mission has some sort of stealth or escort objective and they are so easy to fail. I just can't play through more of this.

Это то, что меня притягивало. Да, не геймплей или сеттинг, а именно сюжет и его подача.
Подобную подачу ранее не видел и если буду описывать, то скорее всего это будет не очень, поэтому только отмечу то, что выглядит это интересно. Возможно, не лучшее что придумало человечество и, конечно же, всё это устарело, но мне понравилось.
Сюжет держал меня и проходя миссии я только и ждал возвращения на корабль или станцию, чтобы снова вступить в диалог со своим экипажем, хотя и на миссиях товарищи не оставляют, составляя компанию, как в бою, так и по радиосвязи. Имеются свои интересные и неожиданные повороты. Концовка, к сожалению, не совсем та, которую я ожидал. Думал, что я смогу завершить историю, но моё приключение оказалось эпизодом от целой истории. Что радует, так это то, что рассказ "Что было после?" ни срезали, ни скомкали, ни выкинули, а вполне подробно и интересно разложили, хотя и остались некоторые вопросы, я вполне доволен.

Скачивал из руководств и доволен. Кто играл в игры подобного датирования, встретят знакомые и приятные голоса. На мой субъективный взгляд, озвучено хорошо. Перевод не плох, но, правда, иногда не критично, но не совпадает с произносимым дикторами, более часто разнится интонация, где, например, в конце предложения может стоять восклицательный знак, а озвучивающий голос будет поникшим.

Готовился к болям от управления, но всё было вполне прекрасно, хотя через время я и наткнулся на один грешок разработчиков - отсутствие точек сохранения. Весьма неприятно и не охотно проходить всю миссию с самого начала из-за одной оплошности или случайности. Это даже становится невероятно больно, когда миссия слишком длинная (например, сопровождение медленно плывущего транспорта) или твой непреодолимый рубеж находится где-то в конце. Таких миссий было всего три, но времени они у меня отняли знатно.

Устаревшая, из-за чего геймплей слабоват, но с вполне хорошим сюжетом, что ещё способен завлечь некоторых людей. Выполнена игра достаточно не плохо, поэтому особой боли от прохождения быть не должно, как со многими другими играми почти 20-ти летней давности и более. Руссификатор у игры достойный.
Игра конечно для того времени хорошая, но плавать в футуристичной подводной лодке и стрелять по мишеням как то уже не весело. Вот почему у серии игры достаточно узкий круг фанатов. Исключительно на любителя водоплавающих развлечений и тира

Ох, AquaNox 2. Такая простая в своей сути игра, о которой хочется сказать довольно много. Просто потому что мыслей достаточно, а серия заслуживает какого-то обзора.
Первая часть мне понравилась. Революционная (хотя для людей из 2010-х и 2020-х это было уже не так очевидно) графика, хорошая (но представленная малом количеством) музыка, яркие и очень нестандартные персонажи, простой но приятный геймплей. Вторая часть попыталась все это продолжить и немного дополнить, но получилось... 50 на 50.
На календаре 2666 год и события этой части идут параллельно первой части (не верьте тем кто говорит что прошло 5 лет, игра многократно ссылается на персонажей и события из Aquanox 1). У нас новый протагонист, в лице молодого "юнги" - Уильяма Дрейка. Парень рано лишился семьи, всю осмысленную жизнь прожил с бабкой, а когда ее не стало решил отправиться в странствия на огромном грузовом лайнере - все что осталось от некогда крупной корпорации, которым руководили представители его гордой фамилии. Откликнувшись на призыв о помощи молодой человек попадает в ловушку, из-за которой теряет свободу, зато получает новую цель, и возможность переосмыслить свои жизненные приоритеты.
Как и в первой части, AquaNox охотно представляет нам порцию интересных личностей, которые охотно перебрасываются долгими диалогами между собой. Но если в оригинале герои равномерно обсуждали лор и мир, то теперь их общение стало более... цельным? Герои теперь конкретнее сосредоточены на своей основной задаче по поиску древнего клада, и хотя они охотно ударяются в рассуждения и философствование, былой безумный артхаусный запал куда-то спал. Если Эмеральд Флинт и его спутники были веселыми прожигателями жизни, которые крутились в высших кругах Аквы, то Дрейк и его спутники ребята куда более приземленные и менее оптимистичные. Из-за этого и тон у игры другой - он более тяжелый и даже немного депрессивный, что создает необычный и не всегда хороший контраст в сравнении с первой частью.
Графически игра поменялась незначительно, а вот стилистика сменилась - Аква потеряла свой ярко-зеленый фильтр, сменив его на грязно-золотистый. Былые знакомые теперь выглядят менее экспрессивно и более обыденно, а новые персонажи, ну... как обычные люди. И тут я тоже посетую что оригинальный визуальный стиль создавал интересное лицо проекту, в то время как новый пусть и достаточно аккуратный, но при этом слишком обыденный. Серия потеряла свою визуальную изюминку, сменив ее на опостылевший реализм.
И даже с геймплейной частью теперь все не так однозначно. Разработчики явно пытались разнообразить исходный материал, но получилось у них не то чтобы везде и всюду. Да миссии теперь более разнообразные, и был убран не самый адекватно работавший в первой части стелс, но ему на смену пришли 2 типа раздражающих миссий. В первом варианте вам нужно в одно лицо очистить базу от пушек, охраны и кораблей снайперов, а в другом нужно умело пролетать сквозь нехитрые ловушки. Проблема же в том, что игра убрала вкладку с уровнем сложности, а некоторые стартовые миссии куда сложнее тех, что будут в финале. А если мы говорим про лазеры, то хитпоинты у этих ловушек отвратные - можно их даже не задевать кораблем, но игра все равно решит что ты задел эти чертовы лазер. А раз задел, то получай гейм-овер и начинай миссию заново.
Вообще, по ощущениям, в этой части куда хуже обстоит дело с напарниками. Да они оказывают помощь, но не так эффективно как в первой части, да еще и ужасно хлипкие. Сколько раз приходилось переигрывать миссию, потому что не успел спасти корабль, который атаковали на другой стороне карты!
Возросшая сложность еще обеспечивается и за счет того, что доступ к рынку теперь возможен только по ходу сюжета. В Акванокс 1 вы всегда могли закупиться торпедами, пушками, новыми кораблями и снаряжением перед миссией. Здесь же торговля возможна только по ходу повествования. Кредиты стали цениться выше, купленные и полученные товары больше не продаются по 100% стоимости, да и кораблей стало меньше - с 9 до 4, причем все они получаются по ходу сюжетного повествования. И мало того что вы вынуждены летать на слабых кораблях большую часть времени, так все эти корабли имеют свои ярко выраженные сильные и слабые стороны! За исключением стартовой развалюхи, три корабля имеют разный фокус - один быстрее, другой прочнее, третий где-то посередине. И все было бы неплохо, имей ты возможность завести их сразу, а не под конец игры. Ужасно что первую четверть ты проводишь на стартовой колымаге, вторую четверто на неповоротливом бомбовозе, и только последние два корабля дают тебе нормальное соотношение здоровья и скорости.
Также в АкваНокс 2 появились доп.задания, нацеленные на то, что игрок зачем-то решит исследовать карту, в поисках секретов. Да решение неплохое, только никто тебе заранее не скажет куда сплавать и что сделать, чтобы получить особое задание, поэтом изволь дорогой друг лезть в прохождение, если хочешь получить редкие торпеды, артефакты или деньги за свою усидчивость. И что тогда геймеры большую часть доп.квестов пропускали из-за незнания, что сейчас. Кроме того порой эти задания имеют такую высокую сложность, что диву даешься. Как на старте тебе предлагают со стартовым оборудованием атаковать тяжелые корабли, способные вынести первое судно игрока за 2-3 выстрела. Ужасно.
Ну а напоследок, расскажу про сюжет. Хотя сценарист сумел создать ярких и запоминающихся личностей, а сама структура стала более... традиционной и понятной для восприятия, меня не перестают одолевать сомнения. Такое чувство что сюжетная команда пыталась запихнуть в историю сразу десяток контрастов и подсценариев, из-за чего тон игры вечно меняется. То что начинается с лихого пиратского приключения под конец игры оборачивается историей про избранных, таинственных культистов, пришельцев и внутрисемейные разборки. Первая часть тоже игралась с подобными темами, но делала это как-то аккуратнее что ли. А тут весь сюжет выстраивается вокруг артефактов, которые нввесть как получить, и чье приспособление так и осталось тайной за семью печатями. Пока Эмеральд Флинт боролся с каннибалами-краулерами и технократом-Сулен за будущее Аквы, Уильям Дрейк тоже спасает мир, только непонятно от кого и как. Как и многие, я был расстроен финалом игры, который выглядел скорее как пролог для библии, чем адекватный конец лихо-закрученной пиратской истории.
Итак, что мы имеем в остатке? Перед нам улучшенный АкваНокс 1, но к сожалению, сиквел слишком многие вещи не успел должным образом обработать и довести до ума. Я не пожалел от 19 часах морских приключений молодого Уильяма Дрейка, но ближе к концу я стал испытывать определенную усталость, а развязка всей этой истории лишь усиливается от осознания того факта, что продолжения у всей этой истории мы уже вряд ли увидим.
И все же я рекомендую к покупке. Сыграйте, сложите свое мнение. Вряд ли будете разочарованы.

Schleichfahrt, Aquanox, Aquanox 2 - was habe ich die Spiele vor 20 Jahre genossen. Wegen Aquanox: Deep Descent hatte ich dann noch mal voll Lust, die alten Dinger auszugraben. Und... wow... Selbst das 1996 erschienene Schleichfahrt sieht nach 25 Jahren immer noch gut aus - und spielt sich super. Das gleiche gilt für die beiden Aquanox-Titel. Da spielt man ein Spiel von 2001 in Full-HD mit wunderschönen Wasserreflexionen und wollte eigentlich doch nur kurz reinschauen, ob es heute noch gut ausschaut - und kann kaum aufhören. OK, bei Schleichfahrt sieht man natürlich an der Grafik den Zahn der Zeit. Alles schön Bitmap-Grafik, Pixelig - aber erstaunlich, wie schnell man das vergisst, weil man voll in das Spiel reingezogen wird. Bei Aquanox 1 und 2 sieht die Grafik aber auch heute noch gut aus. Was für eine wirklich positive Überraschung, das die Nostalgie-Brille nicht gelogen hat. Wer coole Unterwasser-Action mag, der mag sich die drei Titel mal anschauen - es lohnt sich.

Pretty Amazing
So I BOOT this thing up on my win10 64bit Pro system...and what happens? IT WORKS FLAWLESS IN 4K. Like talk about being ahead of it's time, even with patches that IS SUPERBLY RARE to see that kind of programming. I am super looking forwards to see if 1 gives me anything like that. Really, anything in 4K from anywhere NEAR that age (almost 20 years) looks so tiny usually it's unplayable, THIS AN2 is flawless on 4k right out of the box. Just thought I would chime in about how incredible I find that to be, THIS GAME surely deserves it's classic status in so many ways :)

A fun little submarine come Freelancer knockoff. Same menu system to interact with characters, basically a point and click adventure with freelancer type underwater missions. Not a bad addition to my collection. But when all is said and done, we take none of it with us, or do we take it ALL by having experienced. If that's the case (Which I believe it is..) then experience EVERY game at least once. They can ALL have bits that make you go WOW, and bits that make you cringe. But it's the experience guys. And this Aquanox game, is an experience.

Given that the game is almost 20 years old I enjoyed the game. Graphics are still ok and playable with the dark atmosphere of a lost world. Music and voice acting are great. The dialogues and story are not so great, though, especially given that the end is a cliffhanger that will never be resolved. And you need way too many clicks to move the story forward. Gameplay is fun, full 3D with being able to stop anywhere feels great. I enjoyed the missions, discovering bonus items felt like work. But it is possible to progress without. All in all good, but I would not have played it if it had not been on my list since forever.
Unbelievably bad. One of the worst scenarios i ever witnessed, unplayable battle mechanics, maps where if you go out of certain areas you can't return to playable area.

AquaNox 2: Revelation is a game developed and published by THQ Nordic and is the sequel to AquaNox
The game offers some nice graphics, although some ugly glitches here and there, it is pleasant all the same
AquaNox 2: Revelation overall, however, is an okay game to play, and it does get boring if being played for a long time, but is an okay-ish to meh action game and to play in short bursts

Отличная игра с хорошим сюжетом, приятной графикой, замечательными артами и несложным, в основном, управлением. Игра неплохо смотрится и сегодня.
This game is a massive step down from the original AquaNox in every respect. The graphics are worse, the style overall is worse, the dialog is garbage and the combat isn't fun either. And the UI, my god the UI. This is probably the worst game i have ever played.
Janky even for its time, this it neither looks nor plays well enough to enjoy it. Story is bare bones with cringy dialogues and characters with personalities of a cardboard cutouts. Even with its low price, I can't recommend it unless heavily discounted. And even then, only worth buying for nostalgic reasons.
A diferencia del primero de la saga, este transcurre en un periodo de tiempo anterior concretamente al poco tiempo de haberse instalado la humanidad en las profundidades, a pesar de ello, las naves y armas son las mismas, con alguna adición.
Los gráficos mejoran ligeramente, pero la maniobrabilidad de la nave mejora considerablemente respecto a su predecesor. Los mapas son mucho mas amplios y en ocasiones podrás elegir el orden de las misiones aunque tambien sigue un carácter lineal para contar la historia.
Al final, al igual que su predecesor, se resume en un shooter de simulación de vuelo que transcurre bajo el agua y que se juega mision a mision. Entre misiones puedes cambiar equipo y comerciar si estas en una estación. No se gana facilmente créditos y el precio de venta y compra no es el mismo por lo que no esta pensado para que experimentes cambiando equipo en las tiendas.
Dentro de cada mision hay objetivos secundarios que dan recompensas muy interesantes, el problema es que no sabes cuales son los objetivos hasta que los cumples, y los mapas son bastante grandes por lo que puedes hacer la mision 100 veces y no descubrir el objetivo secundario, lo que resulta bastante frustante.
Entre misiones tambien hay que hablar con los distintos pj pero a diferencia del primero de la saga en este tendras que andar yendo de un distrito o sala a otro, lo que hace que se pierda mucho tiempo.
Otra diferencia respecto a su predecesor es que ya no incluye idioma español...
La historia sigue siendo buena, y el juego es entretenido.

很久以前玩过，剧情已经全忘记了，又玩了一遍仿佛回到了童年，这感觉真好。
Świetna gra ALE... Zacznę od dobrych stron, graficznie nadal jest dobrze i może się podobać do tego statyczne grafiki są super i budują klimat. Wspaniała gra aktorska, na palcach jednej dłoni mógłbym wymienić gry z tak wspaniałymi postaciami i tak dobrze zagranymi postaciami. Do tego fabuła jest bardzo klimatyczna ALE jak ktoś grał w pierwszego Aquanox to może kręcić głową bo Flint a William to całkiem co innego. Niestety fabularne supery pociągnęły za sobą spore poświęcenia w gameplayu... Gra jest w dużym stopniu przegadana akacji nie ma za wiele, procentowo powiedziałbym 40 do 60 Akcja jest super ale jest jej stosunkowo niewiele, William to nie wojskowy najemnik Flint. Niestety.

obwohl es so spannend Endet.
Gebt mir Bitte ein Remastered,(könnte man auch die Sachen reinmachen die es nie in das Finale Spiel geschafft haben).
Bitte auch gleich mit vom 1 Teil.

Enjoyable classic. It takes a bit to get into, and the dialogue is often just weird, but its a cool world to enjoy 6DOF fun!
There's absolutely no reason to buy this game.
It's second part, so if you're feeling nostalgic - grab the 1'st one (actually don't! it's not as fun as it was when you were a kiddo).
If you're looking for some submarine FPS experience - grab the 3'rd (newest) part of franchise.
Story is poorly written
Characters are 1 dimensional
Gameplay is slow, uneventful and tedious
Map terrain is very sparse, the lack of budget really shows
Was sagt man dazu. Aquanox 1 & 2 für 1,99€. Da muss ein alter Schleichfahrt - Hase wie ich natürlich sofort zuschlagen, auch wenn ich beide Spiele noch auf irgendeiner Heft - CD rumfliegen habe. Apropos Schleichfahrt - ich wäre sehr dankbar für ein Schleichfahrt mit 3D Unterstützung. 3DFX gibts ja leider nicht mehr und für Direct 3D ist es nie modifiziert worden :( Es war mit Abstand das atmosphärischste Spiel dieses Generes bis zum Jahre 1996. Nichts hat mich bis Dato so mit in die Tiefe gerissen wie Schleichfahrt in doppelter Hinsicht. Habe es sogar mit einer Mittelohrentzündung durchgespielt beim ersten Mal. Nachtrag: Mein Gott nervt die Eskort Mission in Aqua Nox 2
