Trotz des Alters, ist und bleibt es einer meiner Lieblingsspiele. Zwar ist die story nicht mehr ganz Zeitgemäß, aber der Rest ist einfach Nostalgie pur :)

After a few hours on steam the memories are flooding back. I still love the underwater combat, gunships just as amazing as I remember positioning, boosts and timing are essential. Mission types arent anything to write home about just escort, sabotage and ambush but UNDERWATER lol. There was a bit of a learning curve with getting used to the controls again but not crazy. I may be looking through rose colored glasses but the graphics seemed to hold up pretty well especially the lighting and water effects.
I was able to play for a few hours and then it crashed but Im sure ill be able to get it working again for more underwater fun...

Что наш ждёт уже в начале? Дичайшая экспозиция, в которой на игрока вываливают просто весь возможный лор. Будто читаешь рассказ или пролог к роману, настолько подробно рассказчик вводит нас в курс дела, хотя обычно всё это расставляют в процессе повествования, а не в интро. Надо же не только заинтересовать игрока грядущей историей, но и не дать ему заскучать в потоке имён, мест и событий, верно? А всё объясняется просто - это вторая игра! Первая, Archimedean Dynasty на МС-ДОС, известна ещё меньше, чем AquaNox, но для понимания истории не нужна - всё рассказывает пролог.
История начинается... в конце интро после всех разглагольствований. Дело в том, что у нашего героя, Эмеральда Флинта, умыкают корабль прям из-под носа! И ему, по сути, надо его найти. Знакомый делится своим корытом, а Флинту приходится делать всю грязную работу в океане, чтобы получить деньги, улучшать и покупать новые субмарины, развиваться, чтобы в один прекрасный момент получить желаемое. Знакомо? Ну, мотивация не хуже прочих. В последствии, понятно, Флинт поднимается, зарабатывает денежку и берёт себе корабль не хуже угнанного, но впутывается в историю спасения подводного мира, куда ж без этого! И возвращение корабля уже перестаёт быть для него самым главным...
Намешано в сеттинг игры крайне много. Мир AquaNox - целиком подводный, постапокалиптический и даже киберпанковский. Катастрофы и научное безумие породило этот мир и его глубоководных механических монстров. В отличие от антиутопичного Восторга, по последствиям это гораздо больше именно дистопия, как в первом Безумном Максе, но проходит под водной поверхностью, а вместо мотоциклов и прочих автомобилей - субмарины и прочие подводные корабли, зачастую напоминающие скорее корабли космические. Сеттинг вынуждает видеть в этом большую глубину, чем есть на самом деле. С одной стороны у нас монстры бионты и таинственные краулеры, а с другой - политические партии подводного мира со всякими социальными антиутопиями. Где-то посередине выживают трудяги, напоминая, по аналогии, подобную жизнь в ржаво-стальном мире Unreal.
[h2]Персонажи[/h2]
По ходу сюжета в напарники набиваются многие знакомые Флинта по предыдущей игре и немало тех, кого мы узнаём вместе с ним здесь. Точнее, они работают как сопровождение героя в миссиях, но и поболтать не против. Их искусственный интеллект - моё почтение! Как и враги, напарники управляют своими субмаринами виртуозно, редко оставляя кому-либо шанс на спасение.
Классическую подругу главного героя играет Салли - ИИ субмарин (более классическую версию сливают ещё в первой части). Её голос помогает не заскучать в край на безлюдных просторах дна морского, тем более что у неё есть некоторая живая ниточка иронии. В команде самых первых напарников также есть пара живых людей, Лайза Бонхэм и Бостон Харпер, на которых вполне можно положиться, хотя первая довольно харАктерная, а второй любит жаловаться на скуку и "мы не нанимались тут мусор убирать". Вояки они прекрасные.
В остальном персонажей довольно много и выглядят они приятно индивидуально со всеми их фразочками, мотивами, интеллектом, да даже внешним видом с имплантами и прочей одеждой. К счастью, отрисованы они статичными говорящими головами, так что их вид даже за следующие двадцать лет ни за что не устареет, в чём AquaNox выигрывает в битве с большинством игр того времени. К тому же, характеры персонажей боевые, и редко найдётся среди них слабак. Жизнь под водным давлением, видимо, даёт свой отпечаток на личность. Кстати, это очень схоже с космическим вестерном типа "Светлячка", только под водой.

[h2]Дуализм[/h2]
В игре две фазы: статичная первая - база с разговорами, магазином, доком и настройками, а вторая фаза - бой. Во время первой очень даже хорошо работает формат "говорящего романа". Способствует погружению. Извините за каламбур. В магазине довольно большой выбор вооружения и лодок, их модификаций, но за всё приходится платить - те же торпеды не перманентны, приходится отдельно закупать их. Каждую. И экипировать. Каждую.
Разговоры напоминают диалоги в визуальных новеллах или даже пьесу. Уже с первого из диалогов начинаешь подозревать, что половина игра заключается в разговорах. Это правда. Они неплохие, персонажи для такого формата выглядят более-менее живыми и разными, каждый озвучен, каждый выдаёт свой уровень интеллекта и предрасположенностей. Иногда кто-нибудь юморит, но в меру.
Экшен интересный. Порой становится довольно сложно из-за обилия врагов. Вертеться приходится во все стороны, разворачиваться под водой приходится долго, стрельба идёт в задержкой и пули с торпедами не любят торопливость, так что приходится уходить в тактику и лучше готовиться к замесу, подмечая опасные и полезные штрихи на поле боя.
Драйвовая музыка во время экшена, полная пустота во всё остальное время. Хотя, если подумать, оно и правильно - мы ж под водой живём. Скрадывание звуков - это логично. Забавно, что иногда певец/певица произносит слово "Аква". Почему-то это цепляет и оживляет мир игры, хотя по факту он выглядит совершенно мёртвым - живности на дне морском отчего-то нет совсем, а посмотреть, как там на поверхности просто нельзя - лодка не поднимается выше самых высотных строений на дне океана.
Задания довольно разнообразны, как и ландшафты. Хотя все ведут лишь к уничтожению противника, тут есть и миссии сопровождения, и защиты, и отвлекающие маневры, и засады, и поиск, и стелс (ага, серьёзно) с помощью подводных течений, к примеру, и просто старые добрые замесы стенка на стенку - приятно, чёрт возьми, хотя некоторые корабли настолько манёвренные, что хочется разбить клавиатуру и мышку себе о голову. А ещё тут есть трёхмерная подводная карта, весело вертящаяся перед игроком на панели управления подлодкой, что ещё сильнее кружит голову...

AquaNox - хорошая, крепкая научная фантастика, в меру разряженная качественным экшеном. Она не слишком глубокая (простите за каламбур х2) и, наверное, слишком углубляется (ПЗК х3) в около политические дебри с излишней терминологией, но для погружения (...) в мир игры текста и экшена оказывается вполне достаточно. Очень приятно было погру... познакомиться с игрой сейчас и убедиться в том, что она нисколько не состарилась, а даже обрела какую-то свою интересную прелесть со временем. Нестареющую прелесть простых, как камень, маскулинных характеров, в которые веришь просто потому, что соскучился по ним. Ну... и ещё это классный боевой научно-политический роман! Такие сейчас разве делают?

Having deep love for it's own lore the game is very interested in telling players backstory instead of letting them play it, but since it doesn't appear to work on modern computers it's small loss.

The controls are rough, from what I can tell this is a game made for joysticks, I played a lot of them as a kid so that's what's missing if you ask me. The voice acting is alright but pronunciation of words such as succubus is terrible, you can tell when they don't know the word they're saying but no-one coached them or corrected them, guessing it had a small budget.
Overall gameplay is pretty slick, I think the graphics are great for the time and the progression is pretty good.

The games graphics are not bad given the vintage. The voice acting is heavily compressed to fit a CD-ROM. The action is entirely underwater so the shooting is slower than usual.
This game actually supports 1920x1080 from the original CD-ROM. I played this on my Dell Precision 3480 with Intel Xe Arc graphics and RTX A500 graphics.

I've played the demo of this game as a kid and was very excited to finally be able to play the full game. Sadly, the Steam version turned out to be an uncontrollable mess. Even on the lowest possible sensitity setting moving your mouse slighty to the left or right will end up in a turn of up to 120°. However, moving your mouse up or down seems to be much more affected by the settings.
Combined with the fact that you can't save during missions (at least in the ones I've played) this is a recipe for frustration.

If it weren't for the sun-shafts, (unreachable) surface above and auto-levelling, it may as well be taking place in space. There's little in the way of scene-setting for an underwater environment: There's a complete lack of wildlife until the storyline demands it and the clouds of plankton may as well be clouds of inert astral gas.
The missions are strict and linear; you have your set play area and no scope to venture beyond it. And the missions consist of the typical "blow this up" or "protect this" objectives. They also don't have checkpoints so if you fail then all your work is undone and it's back to the start of the mission.
Gameplay-wise it's a lot like the classic Descent, but with auto-levelling orientation as there is no separate roll control; however at no point are you required to find your own way as there are always waypoints telling you where to go.
The story is clichéd; you'll have experienced similar in other games, not just of the era.
The visuals are decent if you're a fan of the late 90's/early 00's look in games. I quite like the style of the era but modern gamers will likely find them underwhelming.
Your wingmen are both unhelpful and irritating as when they have their own roles in missions, they take their sweet time in doing it, with you having to stop and wait for them to get on with it. And when they are joining in the fight their dialogue options are limited and you'll hear the same soundbites over and over.
Speaking of which, the action music is atrocious. It's the most 90's soundtrack I've ever heard and it's completely out of place in this game.
Finally you'll also encounter numerous bugs: Vessels under your protection driving into things and damaging themselves, wingmen flying in circles when they're supposed to be doing something, your vessel getting stuck on nothing and unable to move, CTD when restarting a mission; and so on.
As a fan of the era and of aquatic games, I was looking forward to playing Aquanox. But it's just not good enough; not least because there's little to no sensation of being underwater and in the end it plays like a weak FPS.

This AquaNox is the original it's polished, old but gold.
Aquanox is a deep-sea underwater cockpit-view dogfight game in the footsteps of the descent series of the late 90s. It’s also the successor to the 1996 submarine game “Schleichfahrt”. The dystopian setting itself is quite interesting: humankind had to escape earth’s surface after a devastating nuclear world war and found shelter in the planet’s deep oceans. Population centres are at least 1500m deep and full of crazy people trying to cope with underwater life in confined spaces. Science is given great leeway to experiment on genetic alterations making it easier for humans to survive the great depths. But crime is equally rampant with different factions fighting for power and resources. The player is a mercenary accepting any well-paid job, hunting down people or in other terms cleaning up the ocean floor, sometimes getting tangled up in the ambitions of some politicians.
After about 7 hours play time, here’s my pros/cons list:

+ dystopian underwater setting
+ crazy, weird, likeable people living underwater
+ visiting different cities and areas
+ some interesting characters
+ Still good graphics even today
+ portrait of a dysfunctional society struggling with life in the ocean

Conclusion:
Although the setting itself is quite intriguing, the game itself is lacking variety, motivating mission design and some deeper story. Dialogues are mostly including puberty level profanity at the beginng with some show-off attitude and only some background information and story development sprinkled into them. Some characters are interesting, but most rather shallow. Players will like this game if they enjoyed the Descent series and an underwater dystopian setting with arcade-style dogfights.

It's a bit of a pain to set up, but the setting is very worth it. The voice acting is so terrible that it winds up being great, the music is pretty unique, and the art direction really makes this game stand out.

You are basically in levels the size of counterstrike maps. You kill a thing then the mission ends.
Just waiting 20 seconds for the end-mission timer to return you to your base takes longer than the gameplay does..
Then when you are back at the base, you have to skip through like 100 lines of chat dialogue that the devs tried to make anime-like?
the game claims you are 4000m below the sea, yet you can see the water surface as if you are in 50ft deep water
barely any weapons. you use the same gun for like 10 missions before you can afford a different one which is equally as bad. Every like 5 or so missions you unlock a new ship.. which you buy.. and always end up having no money. Why even give the player the illusion of choice here? The game has no content.
The game has so little in it.. yet the developers give keyboardkeys multiple functions? Pressing W twice for a massive speed burst has ruined sooo many combat encounters for me. Black desert online has that stupid feature also and its ruined countless platforming challenges for me. Who came up with that idea? Sometimes people need to tap W a few times to inch up to a ledge or to get closer to an enemy.. you do that in this game.. RIP.

Возраст конечно у игры забирает своё. Но в целом, она вполне играбельна, особенно для тех, кто в общем-то и начинал играть в ПК игры, примерно с тех лет. Удивил тот факт, что игра "из коробки" способна выдавать Full HD разрешение (1920х1080).

AquaNox, although not at all known, it's one of my childhood games I hold dearest to myself, and come back to play from time to time. It's story is not very long though very immersive, so it's a pleasure to run through it all again sometimes. The 6 degrees of motion is something I love, too bad it didn't take off as a game genre

Атмосфера игры - это бомба! Представьте Fallout в альтернативной вселенной, где мир умер не из-за ядерной войны, а из-за всемирного потопа. Своя история, мутанты, биотехнологии, ИИ, эксперименты, войны после апокалипсиса - я, как фанат Fallout, могу сказать, что это турбо-пушка! С переводом на русский язык, из этой игры можно делать книгу про подводную фантастику.

Хорошая игра, достаёт только проблемка с мышкой :( , и разрабам абсолютна -cenzorship- ,на это к сожалению. Малость корявый баланс, но всё тот же Aquanox, из детства :) .

Zum Ersten, es ist auf Deutsch. Zum Zweiten: wenn man mit Tastatur und Maus spielt siehts übel aus, weil die Maussteuerung in der STEAM-Version in wichtigen Kampfsituationen komplett für mehrere Sekunden versagt und nicht mehr steuerbar ist. In der klassischen CD-Version, die auf WIN 10 immer noch funktioniert, ist das bis heute nicht so. Die Story ist packend und das Gameplay auch und es ist immer noch eines meiner Lieblingsspiele. Aber man sollte doch besser die CD-Version benutzen, weils da keine Aussetzer der Steuerung ect. gibt. Könnte evtl. am Patch liegen der mal nachgereicht wurde, daß die Maus so hakt.

Ein Meisterwerk. Es ist mir unbegreiflich wie ein Publisher mit Titeln wie Aquanox und Gothic, insolvent gehen konnte.
Diese Spiele haben meine Kindheut definiert, darum hab ich sie mir extra nochmal auf Steam gekauft (comfort halber und weil die CDs nicht mehr ganz so gut laufen).
Meiner Meinung nach eine Spielereihe die es sich sogar heute noch lohnt zu spielen. Nicht weil es übermenschlich krasse grafik hat sondern einfach das Grundkonstrukt.
Geladene Action, Ruhe phasen so wie puren Stress. Coole Charaktere, nette Story (wenn auch nicht die beste) und derbe Dialoge. Die Dialoge faszinieren mich. Also ich kenne kein anderes Spiel in dem ich von irgend nem Junky den ich weg gepustet habe Hur****hn genannt werde xD

Ich habe mal das Manko gehört das die Synchronsprecher wohl nicht so gut sind.
Spiele grad wieser Aquanox 1 und die Aussage ist totaler ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Die synchro (zumindest im deutschen wo das Spiel auch her kommt) ist zum Teil sogar besser als heutige AAA games.
Dieses Spiel war zu damaliger Zeit revolutionär und ich finde das man es sogar heute noch gut spielen kann.
Klar die Grafik ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und nicht sehr farbenfroh.
Doch ist man mehrere Tausend Meter unter dem Meeresspiegel. Düster, kalt, erdrückend... alles dinge die, die Entwickler 1A eingefangen haben.
Kurz und knapp. Kaufen, spielen, genießen. Ein hoch auf die Nostalgie!

Es injugable, imposible de configurar de forma decentemente el joystick, como lanzan un juego así? entiendo que es antiguo pero al menos hagan una modificación decente para poder usarlo con joystick común en la actualidad.

Неплохая игра, которая справедливо собрала свои 70/100 среди оценщиков, как критиков, так и игроков. Симулятора здесь не так уж и много - да, мы меняем свой корабль, обмундирование на нем, вооружения и торпеды, но набор всего этого так мал, что симулировать здесь просто нечего. Вся игра - сплошь коридорная стрелялка, где вместо уровня-кишки нас встречает арена-миссия, в которой нужно выполнить поставленное задание на небольшом участке и улететь в закат.
Сюжет примитивный и скучный, и локализация не спасает - болталка через час уже надоедает. Однако понравились бои - все довольно резво, а если зазеваться- отъехать можно очень быстро.
Рекомендовать особо не стал бы, но по фану можно зайти и пострелять кораблики, не более того
It's a good game, it has a nice story and mechanics. For its time it is really good.
However, the game is too repetitive and after some time it gets boring.
The whole gameplay is basically:
Talk to random people with absurdly long dialogues
Shoot the bad guys
Repeat
The majority of the shooter games out there has the same principles, but I find this one not engaging enough speaking of the story and gameplay.
The story has its up and downs when sometimes things get interesting and sometimes there is just a ton of useless informations and boring dialogues.
While some missions are easy, other are absurdly hard. Which is what made me stop playing the game and not even trying to finish it.
I was fighting a giant ship which was near invincible and at some point, after a cutscene, I was spawned right in front of some squids that swam through me and killing me instantly.
Because there is no autosave while doing a mission, nor anywhere else, I kept replaying the mission from the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ start.
After the 6th time while compensating my anger to not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ throw my laptop out of the window while on the death screen, the game after some time brought me back to the main menu. That wouldn't be a problem if, as I said, the game had autosave. That's how I lost hours of progress and also reached my breaking point.
The steering is also kinda pain in the ass, but it's managable with a strong will.
I'll make this review as a positive one, because the game isn't bad, but the more you play it, the more frustrating it gets.

This game is not for me. Maybe there's a nostalgia factor here that I'm missing. I mean it's a $1.37(CAD) right now so if you wanna try, now's the time. I wouldn't pay $5 for this. Got from humble bundle.
Other people seem to like it..I couldn't get past 15 mintues so I guess I didn't give it a solid try. Just feels like starfox 64 but underwater and not nearly as exciting.

Wer Schleichfahrt liebt wird Aquanox hassen. Einfach alles wird hier demystifiziert. Das Menü und die Ansichten der Stationen sind total billig. Die Voiceactor kommen nicht an und sind oft überzeichnet. Einfach alles blöd.
Lediglich das Gameplay macht Spaß und die Musik ist verdammt gut.
Aquanox 2 macht alles besser als der Teil und Schleichfahrt ist ein zeitloser Klassiker, wo Aquanox wohl niemals anknüpfen wird.
Отличный мир и музыка, потрясающие диалоги. Из плохого - надо самостоятельно лезть в настройки смотреть управление перед началом игры - после запуска миссии посмотреть управление нельзя. Иногда после окончания миссии нужно через ESC вручную запускать телепорт на станцию (бред). Есть баг - если после отключения электропитания на корабле не пропадает и не включается обратно управление - перед началом этой миссии нужно снять все спецустройства с корабля (ускоритель и снижатель шума). Есть мелкие баги во время миссий, чинящиеся перезапуском этой миссии.
Wciągający podwodny-futurystyczny świat, klimat i fajna historia. Kanciasta ale dająca radę grafika pomimo że gra jest z jakoś około 2000 roku, pasująca i klimatyczna muza "z tamtych czasów".
Dialogi z portretami tekstem i aktorstwem głosowym, ewentualna wypłata za poprzednią misje, sensowne zakupy, wyposażanie okrętu i wyruszenie na misje.
Современных игроков очень удивляет, как в своё время AquaNox с такой графикой и аркадным геймплеем умудрился провалиться. Поэтому олд поясняет :). Сама серия и сюжет из неё позаимствованы из другой игры игры немцев Archimedean Dynasty, в которой помимо собственно стрелялок были элементы симулятора подводных лодок и ролевая составляющая для экипажа. Поэтому несмотря на огромный технологический скачок предыдущее творение Massive Development было на голову выше. Да и с графикой вышел забавный казус, из-за короткой продолжительности игры и договоренности с NVidia многие восприняли её, как рекламу флагманской видеокарты GeForce 3, а такое в начале 2000-х не прощали. Вообще если оставить перечисленные претензии за скобками AquaNox несмотря на однообразность и линейность был неплох. Он выезжал не только за счет картинки, но и выделялся сюжетом, даже с его навязчивой подачей во время миссий. Весь этот подводный враждебный мир с озверевшими бывшими союзниками, зонами мертвого моря, пиратами, новыми и забытыми технологиями. Но всё же время расставило все по своим местам, до культовости AquaNox так и не дорос, а сейчас представленная в стиме версия больше отнимает ваше время на установку, чем на архаичный геймплей. 6.0 собственно та же оценка что и 22 года назад.

Disappointed by bugs. A charming and very fun game! Surprised me. I overcame some (several) control issues and other such bugs, but after a certain point the game became impossible even on the easiest difficulty. Issues that I overcame included consistent game crashes caused by the resolution being too high, and the mouse controls being unresponsive early on (fixed with a file download provided by a friendly Steam reviewer). The insurmountable issue came about in a late level (and by the longest level so far), where I forcibly lost control every time. In earlier levels, when you take sufficient EMP damage, you are meant to regain control of your vehicle once the battery recharges. At this point in the game, that was no longer happening. The battery would recharge, but I would never regain control. This happened at every attempt and I gave up after about half a dozen tries. I went and watched the remainder of the game on YouTube. Overall I did like it. Stellar visuals and aesthetic, fun gameplay, and charmingly bad voice acting.

Достаточно приятная игра с динамичной музыкой из 2001 года. Работает на 10 винде хорошо, современное разрешение (как минимум 1080р) есть в игре так что не надо искать патчей.
Уникальный представитель жанра подводных шутеров. Киберпанк прилагается. Удивительная годнота для своей ниши.

Laut Steam existiert es nicht, trotzdem ist es da und verhindert den Start ins Spiel. Steam Angebot Sie können Ihr Geld zurückbekommen .... ohne Worte. So ist es definitiv nicht mal einen Euro wert!
I really love the underwater cyberpunk setting + the ship designs look really good. The ambient soundtrack also fits the game really good, but during combat you get some sick techno beats a lot of people will be turned off by.
Technically speaking the game runs fine and you can play with modern resolution, no patch required.
The combat itself is pretty decent, especially with higher tier weapons. That also makes the gameplay decent... in theory. There are stealth missions and missions you have to use EMP weapons only and those really suck.
I can't really comment on the story, because I pretty much skipped every dialogue in the game. It's just too slow and boring. The cinematics were slow but okay.
Overall I'm kind of mixed on this one and while I enjoyed the combat heavy missions, the other mission types almost made me stop playing. One thing it did was making me curious for the sequel. I sure hope there are no stealth missions in that one.

I cannot in good conscience give this game a thumbs up. [b] IF [/b] you can get it running, [b] IF [/b] you are a huge fan of Archimedean Dynasty (be ready for a huge letdown), [b] IF [/b] you can tolerate the worst voice acting in a game ever, [b] IF [/b] you have access to an old school joystick (even with the mouse fix SilentPatch it is still terrible) then [b] MAYBE [/b] this game is for you.
I don't have many issues with the changes made to the gameplay, although it is more "gun" centric than AD (though maybe that’s why I was always running out of credits!). Game looks great too, though I don't care much for the artistic direction of characters while you are at a dock/station.
But my [b] GAWD [/b] I would have preferred the original's couple of voice lines that were excellent than the majority of the VO here. The sound in the original in general was so much better, such as the soundtrack and effects.
The world-building leaves a lot to be desired as well. Every major station in Archimedean Dynasty had its own personality and character and even though you get a bit of that in this game it's not nearly as clear what makes Atacama City special (you can actually walk on land there!) and you never even get to visit the Clans Union or The Shogunate. I will give the game credit in that it does introduce some neat ideas into the world of Aqua but you don't really get to travel the oceans like you did in the first one.
If this had been my first AquaNox game I would have no love for the series whatsoever. All I can say to those who like this game you do yourself a disservice by not playing Archimedean Dynasty. Plus, because it's an old DOS game you will have no trouble getting it to run (but you will need a joystick cause it doesn't know what the hell a mouse is).
War in neopolice 미션부터 버그 발생.
이 미션 이전에는 한번 EMP 실드가 다 되고 나면 자동으로 리부팅되고, 이후 재도전을 이어가는 방식이었는데, 이 미션부터는 재부팅 후에도 아예 키보드 마우스 입력이 먹지를 않는다.
검색해봐도 별다른 결과도 없고.
결국 무적 치트 쓰지 않고는 엔딩을 볼 수 없었다.

Simple review details - I rank games on an out of 10 basis, granting up to 3 points in 3 categories, as well as a last, single point from my own self, depending on my experience with it.
GAMEPLAY
AquaNox feels like a tech demo, but it is just that – a demo. It features interesting ideas, allowing the Player to control a submarine vessel (that looks and functions like a spaceship) while fighting other submarine vessels (which also look and function like spaceships). That, alone, is very novel, and it brings with itself a lot of opportunity for enjoyment, but the game falters right there.
Movement is one of, if not THE MOST important things in a game. AquaNox fumbles its movement, making it clunky and somewhat unesponsive, and resoundingly slow. In addition to that, the Player is constantly overwhelmed by a sensation of weakness – brought on by their weapons, which are not only odd (in an attempt to spice up the gameplay, there are more than one types of damage and more than one types of health), but also feel floaty and unresponsive, which is owed up to the speed at which the projectiles move and the amount of damage they do (with the latter being not a lot).
Alas, the game does not feel good to play.

PRESENTATION
AquaNox is an old game, but it is also a game of contradictions. It features a menu screen, which is buttery smooth, looks very good and is accompanied by insanely atmospheric musc, and a gameplay screen, which is a bit choppy, looks as well as an early twothousands 3D game can look, and is accompanied by weird techno/rock. That leaves me bothered imennsely, but the fact that a good amount of time is spent in the menu screens, which are absolutely immaculate, makes up for it… Nearly.

STORY
AquaNox is a sequel to Archimedean Dynasty, which will most likely slip everyone else’s radar as it did mine. However, as a result of that, it had a foundation to rest upon – which allows it to proceed with a story in which there are almost no character introductions, and everyone knows everyone else, indicating that this is a lived in, believable world.
And that very world is the most fascinating thing about this game – it is so captivatingly mysterious and intriguing that it can single-handedly make one ignore the gameplay’s failings and urge them to get to the end of the game. The story is, subsequently, fantastic.

Does this game get the legendary point, so craved and wanted by all and none at the same time? Unfortunately, the gameplay was so bland and unpleasant, I cannot give AquaNox the legendary point. It is as simple as that. 0/1
CONCLUSION
6/10. Unexpectedly high grade, frankly. I’d recommend finding a playthrough on YouTube and diving in the world, instead of playing through the game. It’d be far worse of an experience to do the latter.
I put it in the bag of average games, disappointed that it could have been so much more, but it chose to be what it is.

Про AquaNox хочется сказать многое, хотя суть всех рассуждений неимоверно проста. Это просто очень хорошо сделанный симулятор, вышедший в 2001 году в Германии. Уникальность здесь в сеттинге "морского дна", ведь не так много на свете существует игр, которые проходят в океанической среде.
Для своих лет игра выглядит потрясающе. Мало какой проект может похвастаться такой графикой и визуальным стилем, который продолжает радоваться глаз и по прошествии 20 лет.
Геймплей можно описать как "космосим под водой" и в этом есть определенная ирония, ведь как часто мы слышим что в sci-fi истребители и корветы двигаются так, будто они следуют правилам морского боя. Так что, можно сказать, своим существованием AquaNox пытается побороть данный парадокс, восстановив некую историческую справедливость.
В лучшем духе европейских игр, здесь нас ждет лихозакрученный сюжет, к сожалению, выполненный не слишком внятно для тех, кто не играл в первую часть данной серии. Да-да, вы не ослышались, перед этой игрой существовала еще одна, которая не запускается на современных процессорах и посему является еще более забытой, чем вышедшие сиквелы в лице Aquanox 1 и 2.
Морской волк и бывалый вояка капитан Эмеральд Флинт начинает свои приключения с того, что пытается найти похитителя своего навороченного подводного судна, а кончает все обороной родных просторов от безумных военных и таинственных краулеров, желающих уничтожить все достижения человечества за последние 500 лет, окончательно добив остатки людской цивилизации, продолжающие обитать на морском дне. Разработчики с большим интересом подошли к описанию всяких физико-химических приблуд, чтобы сделать свой мир более близким к реальности, однако, в самой игре никакого глоссария вы не увидите, извольте гуглить, либо открывать отдельный мануал-файл, который поставлялся вместе с этой игрой.
Как я уже сказал, потенциально интересный сюжет страдает от "устаревшего европейского нарратива", когда персонажи не поясняют почти ничего из того, что происходит, а игроку приходится либо прослушивать диалоги по нескольку раз, либо гуглить научные термины, которые используются персонажами во время разговора. И хотя большая часть сюжета не требует каких-то особых научных знаний для понимания, будьте готовы к тому что далеко не все и сразу станет понятно в первые часы игры, а какая-то информация и вовсе останется необъясненной из-за особенностей повествования.
Если про геймплей рассказывать особо нечего (докупаем корабли, пушки, торпеды и идем ломать вражин традиционными способами), то касательно сюжета следует отдельно выделить длину диалогов. В некоторых обзорах эту игру назвали "аудиофильмом" и это не просто так, ведь наши герои, помимо яркой харизмы также обладают удивительной словоохотливостью. Они всегда готовы обсудить происходящее, пожаловаться на нелегкую жизнь, или просто обдумать, как в очередной раз им бы истратить заработанные денюжки. В этом отношении я НАСТОЯТЕЛЬНО рекомендую установить русский дубляж, так как в оригинале персонажи говорят достаточно холодными и отрешенными голосами, а наш перевод добавляет в эту историку толику безумства и пиратской романтики, которая тут явно присутствует, но весьма опосредованно.
Подводя итог, я бы сказал что AquaNox это пример еще одной европейской игры, которая не получила широкого признания в год своего выхода, и которая графически опередила игровой рынок на несколько лет вперед. Да в этой игре не слишком интересный и разнообразный саундтрек, весьма обычные и иногда раздражающие своей сложностью миссии, да и геймплейно перед нами классический космосим, просто вместе межзвездного пространства тут океанические дали. Но порой игре и не нужно заново изобретать велосипед, чтобы выглядеть достойно.

Не смог осилить эту игру. Стало настолько уныло, что захотелось лечь на рельсы.
При том, что по началу игра даже зацепила. Графика для своего года потрясающая, пара начальных диалогов улыбнули, и после первой миссии ожидал, что будет интереснее. Ведь сначала вообще казалось, что игра имеет свободу перемещения между локациями, но фиг там [i][b]плавал[/b][/i].
Большая часть миссий, переигрывать которые нет никакого желания, вот так сюрприз, играются так, как будто являются тупым самоповтором, из-за чего появляется желание, чтобы можно было скипнуть не только диалоги. Ведь вся интерактивность в открытом пространстве ограничивается тем, что уже было изначально в [i]Archimedean Dynasty[/i] (1996), а значит, ничего более, чем просто двигаться в сторону и зажать гашетку от вас не требуют и не хотят. Иногда игровой процесс разбавляется слегка нетипичными задачами, например, проплыть в водяном потоке через минное поле используя только боковое смещение, иначе поднимите тревогу охранных систем. Это было интересно, это мне запомнилось.
В диалогах же разрабы запихнули ТОП-100 технопанковских цитаток, с извечным тоном твоего собутыльника в комплекте. В начале веселит, позже начинает раздражать. Акцент здесь коверкают безобразнее, чем это делали в первом [i]Deus Ex[/i]. [i]"Актёров"[/i], по всей видимости, в самом деле брали с улицы. Надеюсь, я один такой поехавший, что решил дослушать целый фрагмент с типом, зачитывающего на протяжении шести минут свою реплику чуть-ли не по слогам с перерывами по несколько секунд и постоянными вздохами. Такого смущения я давно не испытывал.
Обидно, ведь лор у игры не самый плохой: Люди проебали поверхность, и ушли дальше проёбывать планету под водой, адаптируясь к новой среде, но с вечным осознанием и несмирением к тому, что их новый мир стал для них тюрьмой с высоким давлением. Весьма жуткий сеттинг, как по мне.
И кому-то просто захотелось всю эту атмосферу похерить, олицетворив тоску и безнадёгу в самом игровом процессе, оставив уровни настолько нудными до смерти тирами, что даже в [i]Descent[/i] (1994) сегодня я поиграл бы с куда большим энтузиазмом.

Schleichfahrt, Aquanox, Aquanox 2 - was habe ich die Spiele vor 20 Jahre genossen. Wegen Aquanox: Deep Descent hatte ich dann noch mal voll Lust, die alten Dinger auszugraben. Und... wow... Selbst das 1996 erschienene Schleichfahrt sieht nach 25 Jahren immer noch gut aus - und spielt sich super. Das gleiche gilt für die beiden Aquanox-Titel. Da spielt man ein Spiel von 2001 in Full-HD mit wunderschönen Wasserreflexionen und wollte eigentlich doch nur kurz reinschauen, ob es heute noch gut ausschaut - und kann kaum aufhören. OK, bei Schleichfahrt sieht man natürlich an der Grafik den Zahn der Zeit. Alles schön Bitmap-Grafik, Pixelig - aber erstaunlich, wie schnell man das vergisst, weil man voll in das Spiel reingezogen wird. Bei Aquanox 1 und 2 sieht die Grafik aber auch heute noch gut aus. Was für eine wirklich positive Überraschung, das die Nostalgie-Brille nicht gelogen hat. Wer coole Unterwasser-Action mag, der mag sich die drei Titel mal anschauen - es lohnt sich.

So,da ich die Zeit im HomeOffice habe,spielte ich dieses alte Game zum 5x durch. Habe es wirklich genossen und es gefällt mir besser als die neumodischen PixelGames,natürlich Ansichtssache+Geschmack.
Was man unbedingt bei diesem Game mit guter Story,sehr guten deutschen Sprechern und schlechten Zwischensequenzen beachten sollte : man kann alles im Setup hochschrauben(Graphik,Sound,freie Tastenbelegung) . Aber U N B E D I N G T die DPI bei Eurer Maus reduzieren !! Diese gepatchte Version 1.7 kommt mit modernen Nagern nicht zurecht!! Bei mir mir lief es mit 400 DPI absolut störungsfrei. Ansonsten ein tolles,spaßiges Game! Bleibt alle Fit! ^^
