To say I enjoy Aloft is an understatement. I poured 20+ hours into the first two days of owning it (it was a wonderful weekend)! The exploration is super rewarding and I find myself scouring islands and being surprised by hidden treasures. The sketchbook to get new decor and building pieces is so cool and motivates me to explore and really look at the world so I don't miss some fun piece to add to my creative arsenal. The building is pretty awesome and lends to a lot of creativity, the style of decor too is gorgeous and not one usually seen so its refreshing (I am obsessed with the rattan windows and all the fun hanging items). Animals are adorable and pheasants??? omg! Music is lovely and almost hypnotic when you get into the zone building, I have lost many hours to that.
The long cutscenes mentioned in other reviews are skippable, I suspect that was changed in an update which is good that the devs are listening and changing things to improve player experience.
My ONLY real gripe is that at this time rope seems like a limited resource (unless I am missing something), I would love to use more for decor and building but I am afraid to because there is a set amount of that fiber in the world that makes rope and I am afraid I will not be able to feed my sheep eventually because you need rope for the hay bales too. IMO we should be able to use the mushroom we grow with the fiber to be broken down into the fiber again, making it a farmable resource.

I would not currently recommend this game at full price, but it could be worth it on sale. If you enjoy being rewarded for exploration and delving into a game, this isn't the game for you. If you want to build a pretty base and not do much else, this game will work, but you could probably do that elsewhere.

PROS:
+ aesthetics: some of the animations are awkward, but I do like the aesthetic choices in the game. it's very pretty and cohesive. animal friends are cute. building bases can be pretty and intricate, though this is available in other games, that doesn't make it less fun here.
+ some bugs but I didn't find anything gamebreaking.
+ gliding trials were decently fun.
+ bringing your base around with you is, in concept, convenient.

CONS:
- not very deep, same tasks repeat often.
- you are both physically railroaded and metaphorically railroaded.
- backtracking is a massive pain in the ass.
- environment restoration is kind of a chore after the first few times. you just run around doing the same three things, shove some animals somewhere, and then hug a tree.
- bringing your base around with you is, in practice, a pain in the ass because it's slow as ♥♥♥♥ and you can't really backtrack with it.
- you'll end up a little disheartened because the game could be so much cooler and it's just not.
- you're not rewarded for exploring in a genre which should be about exploration.

The game is pretty and I do enjoy the concepts. The gliding feels natural and once you get the hang of combat it's decent, though not deep. I think there's some fun to be had, but the central repeat pretty quickly becomes stale.

While you can progress forwards between island clusters easily thanks to the headwinds, going back with your slow as ♥♥♥♥ dirt clump is a big pain in the ass. If you're like me and refuse to leave behind any possible animal friends, this quickly becomes a chore.

There's just not... much to do, really, especially for 25USD. You get pretty much all possible resources for your first tier of environments by the second island cluster, and you've still got a ways to go. You just kinda gotta keep... going... and you're wondering why. Sure, you can unlock new techs - but what's the point of them? You don't access new resources or new mechanics. A lot of filler and fluff and not much else to do.

If I compare this to other survival games, too, I realize that while the environment was pretty, I also got bored of the linear progression quickly. I like getting to explore different environments and obtain different resources from them, such as in Subnautica, where different biomes have vastly different resources and you'll have to explore far to get everything you need. I like wandering off in Subnautica and somehow ending up miles from home deep in a chasm dying to a sea monster. Here, you're railroaded between clusters of islands with a single type of environment and therefore a single set of resources and enemies. There's no side tangents, no way to explore outside of what the game railroads you onto.

Similarly, while I was excited to get to restore the environments of islands, I realized pretty quickly that there's no real direction to them. You slap some trees and plants and critters in and call it good. There's no "oh well this island needs more butterflies because of XYZ" or "that island needs some frogs because it has water" or even "lizards do well on sunny islands so if you pair lizards with some grasses you get a bonus" nope you just kind of toss whatever you want wherever you want. And it's pretty! But I would love a little more puzzle, or a reason for me to collect animals as I go along. I was so excited to have a big stash of animals I could bust out when an island needed specifically ladybugs because of a niche or whatever and... nah, I just put whatever I want. Which. That's fine, I guess. The ecologist in me is dying a little. But it could've been cooler.

I think my central issue with the game is that there is no reward for exploration in what is inherently an explorative genre. While tech progression has some side branches, it's not super deep - so while there are small rewards for exploring off the beaten path and finding some nice side chest or lost atlas piece that reveals a hidden area, it's not... huge. It's nothing that you wouldn't have gotten from just doing the next main cluster of islands. The game doesn't reward me for delving into it, when that's the whole point of survival/adventure to me.

I will say - though I am disappointed by the essential issue in this game (lack of depth), the gliding is smooth and enjoyable. The island piloting mechanics make sense and are approachable. The game functions fine, mechanically.

There are no bugs stopping me from playing this game, and it's pretty, but the biggest issue is there's just no reason for me to play it. I don't sit down at my computer excited to boot it up. It's kind of disappointing in how it could be so much more.

The game has changed a lot over the year I’ve been playing it. A lot more content has been added, along with new challenges. It’s still in early access as of writing this, but the updates have been good enough that I’m excited to keep playing after each one. I’m looking forward to seeing what this game will become.

Absolutely love the atmosphere and vibe. I have been worn out on survival games. Each has its unique spin, but its never enough to keep me invested more than a few hours. Aloft, on the other hand, is the opposite. Literally being able to claim an island in the sky, put a sail on it, a steering wheel, and a rudder, then move that sunuvagun around is next level unique. Recipes are mostly trial and error, which makes discovery awesome... All around, solid 8.7 out of 10. I am sure that will go up once 1.0 hits.

I'm having a good time with this game so far. It's a fun and simple game. It isn't overbearing with eating 716 times a day like most craft/survival games. The building seems fun so far. The gliding around and flying the islands is really cool. It could stand to tell you a few more things, but other than that it has been a blast.

Ну, это неплохо.
Вполне вменяемый упрощённый выживач (то есть, это ни разу не Conan Exiles или Enshrouded, а скорее ближе к Raft и Voyagers of Nera) с симпатичной картинкой и миром в целом. Мир этот состоит из роя летающих островов на которых и придётся добывать ресурсы и искать секреты. Один из таких островов станет вашим домом и передвижной базой, что не ново (мне вспомнилась такая старая игра как Project Nomads) но, выглядит как минимум необычно.
Из странного - тут есть механика экосистем. И хрен вам, а не добыча камня пока не привезёте на этот конкретный остров каких-нибудь божьих коровок или ящериц. Или птиц - видимо они не в состоянии долететь самостоятельно с одного острова до другого. Всё это как-то нелепо.
Из минусов - скучные противники.

Aloft is a chill cozy game, with a sandbox to explore, research to unlock, crafting to skill up, and a fun make your own island and turn it into a flying home for you to sail all over the game with. The core loop is glide to an island cluster, cleanse the corrupted islands, restore the life sapling islands, and complete the puzzles and glider trials to unlock the various shrines that progress your three tech trees. The graphics are nice, a bit cartoony, but overall fine. The audio and music was good, fitting the vibe of a lone survivor exploring ruins and restoring the environment. You can farm crops and raise animals on your flying island. The structure building is easy, though you have to explore to unlock all the building blocks. Like Minecraft you can play solo or co-op as you like. I played solo primarily.

If I have any gripes it would be three things: First inventory space is always scarce, and at least in the mid-game where I am (I've just unlocked the linen sails and outfits) there are not a lot of portable options to solve that. Second the game seems to be quite a workout for my GPU, even with a RTX 4090 I felt the game could due with some more performance optimizations. Lastly The story and breadcrumbs guiding you towards progress could do with some more signposting and lore IMHO, so you don't feel so lost and without context or history for the world.

啥？这游戏也能80%好评？缺点一大堆
我想请问这个游戏的爽点在哪？BUG一堆，高度重复的内容，莫名其妙的科技树，各种幼儿难度的解密解锁科技点，战斗一坨，武器和怪的种类都少的可怜，有些矿跟环境融合各种角度都挖不起来，装修时的吸附更是一坨，让我觉得制作组像没玩过建造类游戏。
最后的最后，制作组是不是觉得你设计的，拿斧头连砍砍四下第五下会触发一个转斧头的动作超级帅啊？
还有因为割了植物导致小岛生态系统下降，让整个画面会变得灰蒙蒙得，制作组不会觉得这种伤眼睛恶心玩家的设计很厉害吧？

The most prevalent emotion I get when playing Aloft is when flying my Island around, I get the joy I felt when sailing and flying around the worlds in Wind Waker and Skyward Sword, and that is the most I have been sucked into one of these types of games in a long, long while.

Решила я зажопить деньги и решила скачать эту игру, все было хорошо до момента когда на острове я случайно удалила скворечник вместо того чтобы его починить, и все, игра дальше секции открытой не пропускала.
В итоге психанув я купила игру в стиме, и знаете что я скажу, о что было та и то что тут кардинально отличается, видимо там была ну супер старая версия. Мне нравится новая улучшенная боевка, мне нравится творческиЙ подход в востановлении островов
Крафтинг стал более добный и прокачка способностей (нужных) тоже хорошо сделали

The game is awesome. Extremely pretty, flying island are a great concept, plenty of base building blocks, just fly and build. And it is in the sweet spot of early access - bugs almost ironed out, and new patches mean new content.

Had this on my wishlist for a while and decided to buy it when it was on sale. I wish I had purchased at full price now because it's a great game and the devs deserve it. Exploration is great and the graphics are done really well. Building is cool and I like the discovery of new stuff. Sailing my own personal (or shared) island is awesome.

The game is a ton of fun to play with friends. Even though it is still very much a work in progress with stuff being added and sometimes removed, you can already play it easily a few tens of hours if you like exploration, a bit of farming and combat and don't mind some repetitiveness.
The performace is still very bad, though. It still needs a lot of optimization, especially on the CPU side. So if you have an older or weaker PC you will run into framerate issues.

I bought a couple copies of this game to play with my young daughter. She really likes it, and I don't hate it. However, we seem to have run into a wall with progression. We keep exploring new islands but never discover anything new. We can't craft anything to progress past the "storm wall", which seems to be the avenue for progression. I don't know if we are missing something, or if this is just the early access content that's available.

As an example, we need to craft a "cure" to cleanse a tree island, but we can't craft it yet, and the research station requires materials that we have never seen to advance.

At this point, the game is good for a few hours of fun, but at that point it becomes repetitive and frustrating that you can't progress. So, I can't give it a positive recommendation at this point. I will continue to monitor future updates and if the game improves I will come back and modify my review.

On January 15th, they published a roadmap for 2026, with 50% of it already marked as “done.” After the developers responded, I understood that content released in 2025 had been included to show ongoing progress. Nevertheless, the roadmap suggests rather slow overall progression.

The game has a lot of potential. It features a cozy atmosphere and a very complex environmental system for cleansing floating islands. The island creator is also great.

In its current state, I can’t recommend the game. However, I would keep an eye on it as it approaches its 1.0 release. When that will be is unclear, but the potential is definitely there.

This Game. This handcrafted World of beautiful nature, ruins and mycelium. In it i have built a ship and on that ship is a gazebo made of fences, turf roof and decorative vines in a spot i thought pretty, when i flown my island to one of the great trees of Life and walked to said gazebo i stopped, stared and sat for of which i realized the beauty of this World, i do not know how long i sat there but i was truly at peace. Thank you Astrolabe thank you for building a world of Adventure packed Floating Archipelago's, beautiful scenery, Scenic Ruins, Marble glider trails and anger filled mushrooms. I wish i could forget and experience it all over again 10/10

Surprisingly good. I haven't had to check the internet for any answers on how to play and I'm at my fourth island set? Something like that. I only just figured out the rock X and I kinda wish I had figured it out earlier. Also, love that I can see which islands I've visited so I don't miss any and the completionist in me can get them all. Highly recommend. It's fun - it's very chill - and it's easy to figure out.

Super Cozy, not to simple in mechanics but just enough to make things complex. Same with the building, not anything too overly complex but just enough to be fun. Akin to Enshrouded or Valheim.

The OST is just fantastic, lovely use of melodic drones with little accents of choir, chimes or bells. Combat music has a acoustic, woody quality while still adding tension.

Only qualms I have is 1. You cant fly into a full loop by flying upward. 2. Combat is lacking but still does the job just fine.

In Conclusion, Wonderfully Cozy and a great time kill. 8/10
