I ran out of money with 5 gladiators in my stable. They were all upgraded (making $4k+). I had no staff and barely upgraded my stable. I had maxed out my perks into the winning pot too. Seems to be a bug that I couldn't find my way around.

Recommended, but only for stat nerds like me.
I'm a big fan of the concept. The UI has the right look and feel, there are tons of options for weapons and upgrading fighters, plus multiple regions to advance through. It really hits a lot of marks, but requires a ton of effort to be fulfilling. It would be more interesting if you can have a large stable of fighters to manage, but financially, it's difficult to manage multiple fighters before going broke, even with the extra cash at start option. I think the lack of bells and whistles in the visual department doesn't help either. In the end, it's fairly priced and delivers what it intends to, but it's a bit too dry for me.

Como um grande fã de planilhas, Age of Gladiators me encantou no primeiro minuto. A capacidade de gerenciar minuciosamente e a sensação de ter o controle de atingir algo extraordinário ao analisar bem os dados é a maneira correta de me deixar horas jogando.
Apesar de não ter um tutorial, o jogo se mostra simples de entender ao explorar rapidamente cada menu. Em dez minutos, o jogador entende completamente as mecânicas principais. No entanto, isso não o torna fácil de tirar de letra. A primeira hora é a mais desafiadora. Gladiadores se machucam sempre, o cansaço é constante, o dinheiro acaba, e logo mais ninguém quer trabalhar pra você.

A ideia de gladiadores únicos com histórias próprias é interessante, mas foi completamente subaproveitada. Quantas histórias existem? Cinco no total? É decepcionante. Cada gladiador possui altura, peso e até data de aniversário, mas nenhuma dessas informações realmente importa. Sinceramente, me sinto levemente enganado por essa superficialidade.
É angustiante a falta de interatividade com as poucas coisas que são apresentadas. Se as mensagens recebidas fossem minimamente úteis, se existisse mais de 1 evento aleatório e os diálogos com os bosses fosse incrementado, eu já ficaria bem mais feliz.
No fim, Age of Gladiators é um simulador de bets sem balanceamento: divertido no começo e tedioso em seguida.

A "spreadsheety" management game that puts you in charge of your own gladiatorial school. You need to train your fighters, manage finances, and make tough decisions in the arena. It's ok but I couldn't really get that deep into it.

This ORIGINAL version is indeed less buggy than the REFORGED version. But this version also feels more like an ALPHA with many lacking features that the REFORGED version brought to the table. After having started with REFORGED version, I can't bring myself to go back to this ORIGINAL version. This version is simply crap! But the REFORGED version also feels like a BETA and therefore is not a whole lot better at the end of the road. But at the beginning of the road it is fun.
Buy the REFORGED version instead and when it is on a huge sale.

There are three important factors: training and building a high-quality staff, event sponsorship, and recruiting new promising gladiators. You need to start very slowly because the management costs are very high. In the early stages, recovery times are long, so it is wise to rotate 3-4 gladiators. In the intermediate stages, sponsorship becomes crucial, as it should be continuous to ensure regular matches, almost every day. This way, you can develop many profiles at once and be competitive at all difficulty levels. If done manually, managing the skill points and attributes of the gladiators can become quite challenging and boring when you have more than 10 gladiators. The fact that you must reach Rome and work your way up from smaller fighting arenas makes the team's growth engaging and compelling. Well-balanced and motivating achievements. The game becomes really fun once you understand the mechanics. It can be frustrating for those new to the genre because of the steep learning curve.

I love gladiator games and tried a whole bunch of simulators, though to be honest, there aren't too many. This one is one of my favourites as I really enjoyed the challenge and the grind to the stop felt satisfying. Would recommend a try.
All available gameplay is shown in the first 30 mins of the game so there is absolutely no need to complete it. Very poor mechanics. But maybe for these price its ok...

Its a simple clicker game that can be challenging for the first play-through, but when you go for Agility and Reflexes basically no opponent can defeat your gladiators.
I like the simplicity of the gladiator level ups and inventory, I think for this game it is optimal. The only thing I would like to see is the ability to send multiple gladiators to fight on a given day. For example, "Massive" events could allow you to send lets say 5 gladiators to fight, "Strong" event could be 3 gladiators and the rest could be 1 just like now.

This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Формальность соблюдена, теперь про игру. Она неплохая и на фоне многих свои 100 рублей по скидке точно стоит. Да, что уж там. Если выбирать между Форспокеном и AoG, то я бы выбрал второе. Причина простая, игра заставляет хоть немного подумать, правда есть и некоторые разочарования. Не буду сильно углубляться и чисто поверхностно опишу плюсы и минусы.
Минусы:
-После того как приходит понимание игры - игра заканчивается и смысла играть нет от слова совсем. Ты будешь всегда выигрывать и деньги всегда будут.
-Отсутствие визуализации боёв - очень обидно, что всё в текстовом формате, хоть какую-нибудь визуализацию завезли бы или дали бы больше пространства в плане воздействия на бой.
- Затянутый эндгейм - чаще всего к мид-гейму ты уже понимаешь все механики и когда идешь за ачивками, то уже просто хочется быстрее закончить всё это, но игра просто излишни затянута и не даёт никаких ивентов или вызовов.
Плюсы:
+До прихода полного понимания игры, твой мозг будет взрываться, жопа гореть - Да, от этого действительно будешь получать кайф, пока наваливающиеся проблемы нужно будет решать в режиме "жеванный крот, щука брат за что хвататься, что важнее". И на это уйдет довольно много времени, но от чего получишь реальный кайф придя к результату.
+Неплохая музыка - После 20 часов поймал себя на мысли, что даже то малое количество музыки, которое есть в игре меня не бесит и создает приятный фон.
+Разнообразные геймплейные составляющие - любители менеджеров оценят вариативность действий для игры за 100 рублей. Расписывать не буду, т.к. лучше самим пощупать и допустить свои ошибки)
+Приятный визуал - да, я выше писал, что нет визуализации боёв и это минус, но в остальном картинка очень приятна глазу, она не раздражает даже при длительном залипании в игру.
Подводя итоги, очень неплохой тайм-киллер в виде менеджера гладиаторских боёв на 7 из 10. Многого ждать не стоит, но если нравится тематика и игры про менеджмент, то это отличный вариант.

I had a good time with this. I made it to the second city, built up $4-$5M bankroll, drove 2 of the 3 competitors out of business, got invited to the 3rd arena, which I believe was Rome. Should have gone when I was doing so well, but my pride insisted that I run the 3rd guy out of business! Couldn't do it. He had guys that were leveled to mid-30s and one guy that was 40. Best guy I had at the time was like 10-12. I tried throwing bodies after them, weaken them, catch them when they were down. Not to be, they were just too good. Got to the point I couldn't land a blow while they took me out. Never got them weak enough to finish off. Time to be moving on.
The game is way too hard in the beginning.

When my gladiators started to reach the top-skills-rating at the crucial skills for their build, the game started to becoming a bit repetitive and tiring (I had overexpanded and had many gladiators to update every turn...). I remember getting the game on a sale, and I consider my money and time well spend on Age Of Gladiators. ... Also, the game has good music tracks. ... Note: I believe that in about 30 hrs of gamplay one could get all the achievements: Half of my gameplay time recorded is when I had fall asleep on the keyboard for the biggest part of the late night.

Interesting premise killed off by a pretty poor technical state and balancing that makes little to no sense.
I restarted game a few times and chalked those up as failures. I was usually running out of money or I've had a crappy stable of fighters who die before they can level them. It's challenging at the start for sure, but in a good way where it makes you want to keep trying with a new plan.
What is working for me:
I am currently focusing on giving fighters great weapons, no armor and fighting animals to level fighter. I recruit fighters with high dexterity, health and stamina. I am not making them prisoners with paid guards and so far seems to be working. Since they've been winning, moral is extremely high.
It matters if you chose defensive, normal or aggressive as fighting stance. If you have a fighter with defense orientated stats and chose the defense stance during a fight, a weaker fighter can whoop on a better opponent, which is pretty cool. I had one fighter with about 200 less health than my opponent and easily one playing defensive. You can also buy, sell and trade fighters from other bosses, but have not played into this yet.
I chose this game instead of its sequel having read the comments that one appears to be the same game with some hiccups. This one's is still great for it's age and scratches that management itch.

Age of Gladiators is a really shallow management game, worth playing for a couple of hours but nothing of real interest.
It's a shame because the framework is there it just needed a lot more actual content.

barebones pretty bad
Very difficult and very fun strategy management game. Hits just about everything you want from a gladiator game. Every turn is 1 day so your gladiators get to adventure an entire life time with you. Towards the end it eases up and becomes a bit repetitive, but for most of your playtime you'll be connecting with your gladiators and investing in them with the amazing hands-off fights where you need to have faith in them. I am excited to try to sequels.

[b]Even though I will mostly write about its problems, I found this game quite enjoyable to play, so with the following warnings I have decided to recommend it at $1 sale price (but surely it would need a lot of balancing and improvements to be worth the full $10 price).[/b]
Balancing is the biggest problem here. Being quite hard to manage at the very beginning, if you play it right and have a bit of luck buying good gladiators, the game becomes incredibly easy already before finishing the 1st (shortest) of 4 town competitions. Easy to the point, that you just win 100% of your fights.
Another problem is so called "Iron Mode", limiting you to just one, presumably automatic, save slot. Not only the save is still not encrypted in any way and can be directly edited in any text editor, but autosave happening only after a fight or end of a turn still allows save scumming at the most important moment - choosing which gladiator to buy.
Still, if managing carriers of your gladiators is your piece of cake, for a few hours the game can be surprisingly enjoyable, hence this limited recommendation.

Awesome game if you're bored at work or stuck on a low power computer. My first playthrough I really cheesed the save/load function and quickly found myself starting over and avoiding it.
When my champions would fall in the arena I grieved like a parent losing a child. Poor Cornutus.
Fun gladiator management simulation
It is what it looks like it is.
The issues I have with Age of Gladiators:
-There is no tutorial to walk you through what everything means, and because of this, even though my gladiators were winning their bouts, I was still loosing money. So clearly there is something about the mechanics I am not understanding.
-The morale of my gladiators was impossible to maintain. Even with the stables (their living quarters) fully upgraded, and sharing 80% or more of the profits/purse with them on each win, they constantly reverted back to being miserable. I wish there was a way to give them more perks to keep them happy, like time in a bath house or something. Anything to keep them happy for more then one turn!
-After a while, you are doing the same thing over and over: Assign healthy gladiator to game, fast forward through battle, win/lose, end turn. Assign healthy gladiator to next game, fast forward through battle, win/lose. Repeat. Forever.
-Instead of that repetitive sequence for hours on end, I would have enjoyed being able to pay off my competition as a way to shake things up. Or at the very least, assign more then one gladiator to a round, so that they could advance their skill faster (instead of one at a time/one turn at a time).
Yet with all that said, the potential is there. And I did like the art of the gladiators themselves (even though the weapons in the pictures did not match the weapons they were trained on).

After a 3 years hiatus after completing the game i came back.
This is boring, all you do is click + signs next to stats and upgrade stuff with 1 click. Nothing is done in that game.
Granted ive played this 32 hours, thats on me. Honestly there's free stuff out there with the same experience offered.

Özellikle 3-4 kere dogru başlangıç perkini bulana kadar para dayandıra madım ancak her ayki takvimde daha çok savaşa katılmamızı saglayan perk ile bet ve savaş ödülleriyle güzel para kastım ve oyunu çok kolay bitirdim özellikle bu perk ve sponsorluk sayesinde takvimdeki neredeyse her gün bir dövüşe girebiliyorsunuz buda batmanızı engelliyor. Oyunda kendi sisteminizi ve düzeninizi kurana kadar sizi zorluyor ama kendi sisteminizi ve yönteminizi bulduktan sonra kolay şekilde bitirebilirsiniz.
The game is pretty much just rolling the dice. you will get hot and then suddenly not, lose all your best fighters at the higher levels and just be screwed game over. the only strategy is hope you get the better match up so your odds go up. this game like many gladiator games like it get something very wrong, while yes gladiators did die in the arena it was rare given how expensive they were, two often the schools were paid up front to participate plus a purse on big fights. Also it is a let down the gladiator portraits do not change as you swap their equipment and they level also the portrait doesn't even match their preferred weapon most of the time.
This game is fun for a few hours but it is little more than playing at a slot machine where you can subtly manipulate the odds but there is always a chance of going bust even on low risk bets.

Really enjoyed the game. I am a big fan of management and simulation games, if you like them you should love this game.
The core game play is fun but once you've learnt it all the game begins to get a bit repetitive, which is exactly what you should expect if you are playing a management sim.
I had a really fun time playing and learning the mechanics and I would recommend this to anyone who likes the genres I mentioned above.

I enjoyed this and completed it 100% but now when I try to install it again, it tells me the file can not be found. Despite that, thumbs up as it was a great wee game.
Loaded it again and its working fine, will play with it some more to refresh my memory then post a proper review.
Enjoyed playing Age of Gladiators but found a bug in the 2nd year of the game. When the months list of available events came up in April of the second year I wasn't allowed to participate in the events. Would say fight concluded before the day even arrived. Needs that bug fix for by the end of the month my money will be gone and will have to execute the best gladiators Rome could ever see. Will give it a thumbs up once they fix these bugs. The Month did self correct the following month!
